Have heard very good things about this place, although haven't yet made it there ourselves. If you wanted Vietnamese food though, it's apparently the place to go.

By far the best Middle Eastern food in Edinburgh, and probably the best I've had outside the Middle East (I lived there for 6 years - Nick). There's also a takeaway counter that does great shawarmas.

The closest decent sushi place. Very small though, so not somewhere for a big sit-down meal. On the way to and from Haymarket too, which can be handy.

Probably the best sushi we've had in Edinburgh. Beautiful place, delicious food, lovely staff. A twenty minute walk away.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh, definitely the best vegetarian Indian. A friend's dad, who grew up, and travelled extensively, in India, reckons it's also the most authentic.

There are quite a few good Thai places in Edinburgh (Thai Orchid on Johnston Terrace being our favourite). This is the closest of the good ones.

Our absolute favourite place to eat in Edinburgh. Everything on the menu is always fantastic. Best coffee in Edinburgh also. Local produce, fresh and full of flavours. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Very close! Good coffee, nice cakes and pastries, all made in-house or from local bakeries. Friendly owners who've lived in the area, so are also good for advice. 2 mins walk!

My long-time favourite Chinese restaurant, from when I used to live in the New Town. Has since moved to bigger, fancier premises, so is a bit more expensive now, but possibly slightly better food too.

Local Chinese takeaway - was recommended to us by the Odds & Ends owner. Only tried it once, but was very nice. Delivery would have been an hour, so I went and picked it up. Think it's very popular.

Had a couple of pizzas from here - also recommended by the Odds & Ends owner. Made fresh and very tasty. Infinitely superior to the terrible Papa John's!
