City/town information

Hove is the central and western part of the City of Brighton and Hove (often referred to as Brighton and hence the jokey reply "Hove actually" when people ask whether one lives in Brighton.) The Hove Seafront consists of some of the best preserved Regency and Early Victorian architecture in the city and extends towards Brighton to the "Peace Statue" just before you get to the remains of the West Pier and the i360 - both iconic and at times controversial landmarks. There is always something to do in the city - the Brighton Festival in May and June together with its fringe festival rival the more famous Edinburgh festival. The City is unrivalled on the south coast for the number of restaurants, clubs, bars and independent shops. There is excellent rail link to London and you can be in central London within the hour - hence Brighton and Hove's reputation for being "London by the Sea".

Food scene

Professional Masterchef winner's restaurant in Hove. In my humble opinion it is the best restaurant in Brighton and Hove - You will need to book well in advance and have deep pockets (but well worth it).

Neighbourhoods

The Hove end of Western Road is made up of independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants - far less tacky than the Brighton end... "Western Road, Brighton?"... "Hove actually!!" Some beautiful regency squares lead of it - in particular Brunswick Square and Palmeira Square

City advice

Getting around

Excellent bus service - use debit card to click on and off

Excellent bus service and also a community bike scheme is easy to use. Parking in Brighton is expensive and the flat is so central and with such good access to public transport there is no need to bring a car. However I can provide resident's guest street parking for the area immediately by the flat.
