When the original homestead was built, it took almost 3 years. The King Parrot Creek runs through the Estate which prompted one of the first squatters in the area, Robert Farquhar McKenzie, to establish a 10,000-acre sheep run in 1838. To help put this in perspective; Melbourne was first settled by John Batman in 1835! The 2 room stone cottage still stands today and is a popular private dining room due to its character and ambiance. The property was purchased by the ANZ Bank in 1989 from the Tehan family who had held it for more than 50 years. The bank developed this magnificent homestead into an executive training facility and luxury retreat that stands today as one of Victoria’s finest business and training centres. Today Flowerdale Estate is a family-owned and operated business. With many years of experience in the service and hospitality industry, and surrounded by our team of professional and dedicated staff, our aim is to make every part of your stay with us a most enjoyable and successful one. The 130 acres surrounding Flowerdale Estate is still being farmed, with a strong commitment to conservation and regeneration of the native environment. Furthermore, a particular focus is for the future will be on the re-vegetation of the magical King Parrot Creek.
