This is a favorite among locals and guests. Home made soups and ice cream. Excellent food for lunch and since it is all home made, tasty with unique flavors and goodies it's worth it among the foodies.

Nothing fancy, very basic. I'm very particular about my Mexican and Italian food having lived in Italy and Texas so I just don't go for a chain restaurant taste.

Gorgeous picture spot. Waterfall, caves, tide pools. MUST GO IN or around LOW TIDE Just north of Arch Cape, 5 miles south of Cannon Beach. Parking and bathrooms provided. Walk down stairs to beach and walk around the first rock on your RIGHT for waterfall etc.

Temporary closed due to landslide 2020. Check Oregon state parks for updates. Lovely cliff view of Cannon Beach and the rock formations. Tillamook Head Lighthouse can be seen also from Ecola State Park. ...and hiking trails, always with the hiking trails in lush evergreen forests.

Need to google for when the whales are moving. Need binoculars, they're 'moving' not playing and breaching as much as they do when at home in Alaska or Puget sound.

Need to google for when the whales are moving. Need binoculars, they're 'moving' not playing and breaching as much as they do when at home in Alaska or Puget sound.
2.5 mile hike one way to the prime lookout for whale migration. This trail is not appropriate for hyper dogs or small children. It has an alpine feel a quarter mile in with no fencing. As with many mountain trails its super important to be away of where you are walking and be courteous to groups going in the opposite direction. single file and moving as far right as possible for others to pass. If you are not hiking savvy just be a little more alert than usual. It's not so difficult a trail that a beginner can't do it. Well maintained trail for summer use or drier days. Spots can get soggy during wet season and need good boots for that.

Cape Lookout Trail
Cape Lookout Trailhead2.5 mile hike one way to the prime lookout for whale migration. This trail is not appropriate for hyper dogs or small children. It has an alpine feel a quarter mile in with no fencing. As with many mountain trails its super important to be away of where you are walking and be courteous to groups going in the opposite direction. single file and moving as far right as possible for others to pass. If you are not hiking savvy just be a little more alert than usual. It's not so difficult a trail that a beginner can't do it. Well maintained trail for summer use or drier days. Spots can get soggy during wet season and need good boots for that.

Rent a boat, crab rings and bait and catch your own crab in Nehalem Bay. Didn't get your limit or crabs too small? No problem, Kelly's has a pot of live ones for you back at the dock that you can choose and watch them being cooked and cleaned and eat them right there on their many picnic tables. Not budget friendly but well stocked enough with walk in coolers for beer and wine and a fresh meat seafood counter.
