Favorite Restaurants

Since we moved here in 1996 from San Francisco, California acquainting ourselves with the area and determining what meets our standard for good food has been a fun and continuous undertaking. A lot of our favorite restaurants are Dallasites main staples or definite faves, so read on and hopefully take up some of our suggestions. Now mind you, we are very picky when it comes to restaurants. Definitely has to be delicious but also budget friendly. As we prefer home cooked meals and both my huband and I are outstanding cooks, we definitely will not suggest mediocre food. Going out to eat is ocassional but when we do, we know it is well worth it. So, here is our take on the best restaurants in our area:
Awesome seafood place! We go there for the fried catfish fillet with steak fries. Everything is definitely delicious though. So far we haven't been adventurous with other menus, just because we love the catfish and their other fried items(oyster, shrimp, calamari). Still, go for anything on the menu that meets your fancy. Whenever we bring our guests/friends from out of town, they order different things and they all say hands down delicious! We go to the one on Mockingbird Ln which is 15-20 minutes from the house. One of the original locations and is close to White Rock Lake. Lots of seating inside and out, but when the weather is nice, definitely sit on the outdoor picnic tables. Lots of paper towels on tables for the usual messy eats, so dig in!

Located in nearby Mesquite, only ten minutes away from the house. Very budget friendly for families and awesome Mexican food, albeit more of Tex-Mex. We go there for the fajitas. 2 orders of mixed chicken and beef fajita for our family of 7, and we have more than enough. Chips and salsa are free but we pay for the queso dip which is well worth it. Chips are freshly made and fried. The great thing is, dessert is FREE! It's ice cream or sopapilla. Definitely go for the sopapilla. Puffed buttered tortillas with a drizzle of honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and your taste buds perk up! Enjoy!

This is the original location of Uncle Julio's on Lemon ave. A little more upscale then Posados but definitely worth the trip! Excellent Tex-Mex food. Again, we go for the Fajitas but practically everything on the menu is amazing! Everything is fresh made and the flavors are spot on. We love the rustic and Mexican cantina decor and definitely the ambience. 20 minutes away and more in the uptown area.

Oh my gosh, the best Indian/Pakistani food we've ever had! Mind boggling flavors of spice and deliciousness that coupled with the price is a definite go to! We love the chicken Biryani(flavored basmati rice and chicken)and the Beef Rizala(a curry style saucy dish). For the vegeterian, Paneer Tikka Masala is yummy! Soak up the sauces of the Tikka or the Beef Rizala with the garlic butter naan bread- oh my! I am not much into their deserts but my kids love the Mango Kulfi. For the more adventurous or curious, go on a weekday and there is a nice buffet spread. Don't forget to mention my name, "Macky Refuerzo, the realtor" and you get a 10% discount.

Definitely great breakfast and brunch place. 20 minutes away and just pass the NorthPark Mall on NW Highway, it's well worth the trip. Try the chicken and waffles, sooo good!!! Anything on the menu is great too. Moderately priced
