We LOVE this restaurant. They have an awesome coffee shop and a great menu with American food with flair. It's really close to the house (2 mile drive), and it would also make a lovely walk since the walking trails from our house go right to their front door. They also have a lovely bar. And great hamburgers. :)

1 hour from our house, this is one of the best restaurants in the United States, by survey. It's magical. If you can plan a visit into your Anchorage trip, do it!

Downtown has some great Alaskan shops and also hosts our performing arts center and conference center. Downtown is about 5 miles from our house. Anchorage has a mall, as well, which is downtown.

We love this walk on a 2.6 mile well-maintained trail. Our daughter said it looks like Narnia in the wintertime. It really does! The trail goes right along the water and past the Ulu factory, which is a local Anchorage cool shop with Alaskan goods.

20-mile bike, walking, running, and cross-country ski trail that goes all along the waterfront and up to Kincaid park. If you have a few hours to spend walking or biking, it's well worth the investment! In the wintertime, people rent fat-tire bikes downtown and then ride up and down the trail being very Alaskan! Great for kids and people on dates. :)

BBs is a drive-thru which is extremely popular because it has the coolest, kindest baristas. They quite literally always have a very long line. Getting a coffee here guarantees a few minutes of friendly conversation to start each day. We are frequent fliers. :)

What to pack
Make sure you bring shoes that can get wet!
Alaska has a lot of wet places, year round. Bring waterproof shoes if you can. It'll enhance your quality of time in Alaska.
