Sightseeing

Cabo Trafalgar is a headland in the Province of Cádiz in the south-west of Spain. The 1805 naval Battle of Trafalgar, in which the Royal Navy commanded by Admiral Horatio Nelson decisively defeated Napoleon's combined Spanish and French fleet, took place off the cape. It lies on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, northwest of the Strait of Gibraltar. The International Hydrographic Organization defines the Western limit of the strait and the Mediterranean Sea as a line that joins Cape Trafalgar to the North to Cape Spartel to the south. The most prominent structure on the cape is a 34-metre-high lighthouse (51 metres above sea level), the faro de Cabo Trafalgar, built in 1

Zahora Beach is in the Cape of Trafalgar (next to the Caños de Meca). The beach, with its fine sand and ideal wind conditions, is ideal for Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, Surf, SUP, Kayaking, and Bodyboard. The beach begins in the area of Mangueta where, in the middle of the last century, the old Civil Guards Headquarters used to be located and it comes to an end at the famous Trafalgar Lighthouse. Besides the wonderful sunsets, the most spectacular aspect of this beach is the huge reef that appears at low tide, together with the formation of an enormous lagoon with shallow water, where the youngest members of the family can enjoy bathing in complete safety.

Parks & Nature

La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park is a real ecological treasure of the area. It is a forest that was created artificially at the end of the 19th century after carrying out a reforestation process, in order to preserve the dry, sandy earth. However, the park is not just a forest; it also boasts a coastline of considerable natural and scenic value and majestic cliffs, up to 100 metres high, which provide shelter to a great representation of Mediterranean avifauna. The Natural Park of Acantilado and Pinar de Barbate is not too big to explore and it is possible to plan all types of excursions: on foot, by bike or on horse. Visitors cannot miss making a trip to the Torre de Meca.
