Food Scene

Friendly staff, great coffee and delicious sandwiches. The olive tapenade one is great, ask to have it toasted. Popular with art students, freelancers and mothers.

Stylish but simple decor, friendly staff and they even serve vegan cake. They sell local, handmade goods and have art exhibitions. Have a large downstairs area with tables and chairs too.

Great for hearty lunches like burgers and wraps, and the smoothies are the bomb. Go for the Love Hangover! Gets crazy busy at lunchtimes, so go early if you want to guarantee a seat. The quirky decor is sure to charm you.

Not very well known to the general public as it's tucked away on the Kings College campus. Super friendly staff, good coffee, salads and sandwiches for lunch - all reasonably priced. Very quiet outside the lunch rush hour, lots of space plus high chairs.

The cafe is part of the South London Gallery and is well worth a visit. Beautiful building and decor, the coffee and food are delicious. The conservatory out the back is a wonderful place to sit. Gets super busy at the weekends, but the brunch is well worth it.

Super hip cafe/bar in Peckham, a little tucked away and hard to find in Copeland Park. A great place for brunch, or drinks in the evening and they often have DJs even in the daytime.

Getting Around

Train is packed at rush hour, especailly in the mornings. Sometimes a few trains go past before you can fit on one. So leave with plenty of time, and avoid like the plague if you have luggage! Totally fine out of rush hour, lots of space and well connected to Central London. No lift.

Essentials

Cash only under £5, good selection of groceries and household items. Much more variety than the co-op across the road.

Parks & Nature

I have a special place in my heart for this park! Great for a walk or a jog, there's a playpark for kids plus a paddling pool that's filled with water during the summer months. Live music on the bandstand during the summer too - take a picnic and some wine and while away a sunny afternoon listening to the music. Just the most perfect place!

Shopping

One of my favourite stores in Brixton, so unique and eclectic. Quite a few things in our flat are from here, and the lady who runs it is really friendly and interesting. It's not cheap, but it's the place to go if you're looking for unique homewares and gifts. I love it!
