Bandon Beach Riding Stables
54629 Beach Loop RdWho hasn't dreamed of horseback riding on the beach?
We call the beach immediately adjacent to the south jetty (take Jetty Road west from Old Town) and consider it the most convenient beach for beachcombing. Winter months are the best time to hunt for agates, particularly right after a storm and at low tide. The winter storms help to remove the top sandy layers revealing the treasure beneath. Be on the lookout for loose gravel atop sand. No real technique and no particular equipment is required to find sea glass, agates, jasper, petrified wood, shells, sand dollars and, if you're really lucky, fossils. Pick up a tide book at the Bandon Visitor Center, dress warmly and have fun - but NEVER turn your back on the ocean!
