Top-notch good in a unique stunning 18th century mansion set amid the modern high-rises of Vauxhall. Bar snacks are excellent but mains are spectacular. The rest of the house is architectural salvage and antiques. You need to book the restaurant. Take a walk by the river afterwards.

Van Gogh lived for a while in Hackford Road, a short walk from the house. Amble through Van Gogh Walk and view the outside of the house where he lodged as a young man and fell in love with his landlady (and her daughters). Unrequited, as he was quite strange.
