Gateway community to the Redwood National Park. Destination for hiking, trails, beach combing, elk watching and fishing. The town itself is a little rough around the edges when driving through, but do not be fooled; visit the burl shops and you will find some beautiful gift items.

City advice

What to pack

Bring layers

Often chilly, especially under the canopy of trees. We can be breezy in the Spring and early summers, or it can be warm from hiking and outdoor activities. Having layers helps.
What to pack

Bring hiking shoes and beach sandals

People come from all over the world to visit the Redwoods and Trails. Terrain may be uneven and dirty. Comfortable hiking shoes is a plus. There are plenty of beaches nearby, so be prepared to shed the heavy shoes and get your toes in the sand.
Getting around

Do not rely on GPS

Our area is rural and GPS is not always accurate. Highly recommend looking up directions or feel free to reach out to me (host) for directions to interested areas in advance.
