Food Scene

This is at the priciest end of places you can eat in Brixton but we couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s a couple of minutes walk from the flat and had a delicious tasting menu and a great wine list. This is the place to go if you fancy a treat. You will definitely need to book.

This is a temporary project that has turned some disused land behind the station into a creative space for local, independent businesses. This is where you’ll find some of London’s most exciting start-ups working in food and retail. Babba G’s is delicious - the Pachos are VERY tasty!

I can’t describe how great Brixton Village Market is. There’s something for everyone; European, Indian, Asian, African, South American and Caribbean foods. There’s cafés and restaurants serving up all sorts of flavours. Our favourites are La Senza (amazing crepes) for Brunch, and Mama Lans (the best dumplings in town) for dinner! The Market is closed on a Monday evening but is definitely something to experience before you leave Brixton.

It’s a little rough and ready around the edges, but a fantastic spot for weekend breakfast/brunch. The cafe is in the beautiful art-deco listed building in Brockwell park and looks over the Lido! Great coffee and great people watching!

From records and clothing to donuts and biltong. We love wandering up and down the market with a coffee. A perfect activity for a lazy Sunday morning.

It’s a 10 minute walk away on Brixton Hill. We love the coffee and the toasties there are unbeatable! They sometimes have some cool art on the wall, you might recognise some from our flat. On a weekday morning, F Mondays also have a little blue coffee van outside the Ritzy Cinema.

A 10 minute walk away in Brixton Village. It’s run by a load of Aussies and is definitely the definition of a ‘hipster’ coffee shop. The coffee is strong delicious - they have their own roastery in East London. It’s also opposite my favorite homeware shop in London - Brixton Cornercopia

Drinks & Nightlife

The Florence in Herne Hill has a fantastic atmosphere and is a short work from the flat, just opposite Brockwell park. The Sunday lunches are great (you will definitely need to book in advance) and they have live Jazz on Sunday from 4 pm! It’s not always the best option for a quiet drink.

This pub is hidden in the middle of Brixton. It’s newly refurbished and has a lovely beer garden out at the back. We haven’t eaten here, but the food always looks great.

Parks & Nature

Just a few moments walk from the flat. We definitely recommend having a walk around the walled garden as it’s especially pretty at this time of year. If you walk to the top of the hill on a good day you get a lovely view over the City.

If you like swimming outdoors, the stunning art-deco Brockwell Lido is a must. It also has a lovely café. The Lido is funded by the local Council so it’s very cheap to use.
