Perfect place to get fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, meat, fish, nuts, cheeses, and even Cuban ice cream! Try the juice stand Las Delicias for an amazing variety of fresh fruit juices and smoothies. They'll basically make anything you want. I like the "jugo verde" personally, or the mango-orange-strawberry juice. Get a full liter of freshly made juice for about $2. One of the things I miss most while I'm away.

Organic garden with spaces to hang out and frequent street fairs, food trucks, and events. Produce for sale. This is a space that was set up in the empty lots left by fallen buildings from the '85 earthquake, and it's really an awesome place to go spend an afternoon. Take a book and enjoy the green!

From holes in the wall to fancy restaurants, these are some of my favorite places to eat in the neighborhood.
This place has become a hipster mecca, but when you taste their specials you'll know why. Call for a reservation or show up early (about 1pm Mexican time). The soups are amazing. These are the type of tacos you'll have trouble finding anywhere else. I miss this place like crazy when I'm out of the country. $$

Office and art supply store with copy, printing, and scanning services. For better karma and faster service, use the "mom and pop" copy and printing services right across the street, but do check this place out if you're looking for a place to buy paper, pens, wrapping paper, art supplies, notebooks, envelopes, folders, binders, etc.
