Places to stay in Waynesboro
Waynesboro, TN. Great spot for relaxation! This cabin had an extensive renovation in 2018. Full kitchen and screened in porch overlooking a pond. Very close to the Natural Bridge at the Tennessee Fitness Spa. Many other local attractions close by. There is a 2nd small efficiency cabin that can also be rented for $50/night. Dogs are allowed for an additional fee (limit 2) and even have their own dog pen! No cats. There is a 3 night minimum, or cleaning fees apply.
  • This place is beautiful, in the middle of a wooden area with a little pond in front of the cabin. Carrie is an amazing person, very professional and very nice to deal with. The cabin is beautiful inside and out, and very clean. This is our favorite place to stay when we visit TN.

  • Carries place is great! House is nicely furnished and beautifully decorated. Location is very quiet but not totally private, there is road (with very light (1 car/hour type of traffic) in front of home and neighbor across the street. But for most City/Apartment dwellers....you will find it very secluded and private. Carrie was wonderful host, very quick in response to any question. Highly recommend stay!

  • This property is off the beaten path and as quiet as you can get. It had everything you will need to feel completely at home. We will come back here again. Thank you.

  • Carrie was a fantastic host and was always quick to reply with any questions. The house was beautiful and clean and the beds were the most comfortable we've ever slept on!!! My daughter and husband loved to fish the pond and our dogs enjoyed the doggie door to their own fenced yard. I loved sitting on the screened porch early in the morning and late at night listening to all the surrounding nature. We look forward to staying there again in the future!

  • We had a terrific stay at Trisha's. The doublewide was clean, thoughtful touches such as water, eggs, milk, candy/chocolate bowls, etc.. What was really fantastic was the experience the kids had interacting with all the super friendly animals and the horse ride we separately signed up and paid for. Great experience and if we are ever close by we will be back.

    Fraser2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Trisha is an awesome hostess. There are animals everywhere and a gorgeous creek within walking distance. Very affordable trail rides.

    Lara2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Animal lovers paradise!!! Trisha’s place is amazing! Horses, dogs, calves, llama, goats, kitties, and pot bellied pigs! We had no idea we would get to be so involved. We are animal lovers and even my 7yo daughter was allowed to help bring in the horses and feed the animals each day! We had one of the most amazing horse back riding experiences! The cabin is very clean and cute, and they even built a fire ring for us outside! Trisha was very quick with responses to any questions and treated us like family. My daughter is 7 and had the most amazing time! She’s already asking when we can return ;)

This space is only available as and "add-on" when you rent our other property. Pool table room, a ping pong room, large living area with flat screen TV, poker table, pub table and full bath. There is an outdoor hot tub that overlooks our cove on the TN river near the Clifton bridge. Area is located on the lower floor of our house with a private entrance adjacent to our other listing “Waterfront Serenity”. If you book the apartment I will unblock calendar if you request to add this space.
  • Definitely recommend the add-on space. Extremely nice setup with so much to do.

  • The small cabin is as cozy as the big one, it looks like new and everything was perfect. This small cabin is right beside the big cabin in the same environment it is incredible.

    Francisco2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. Cabin is cozy and cute. Coffee on the screened in porch looking at the pond was relaxing. Carrie was a great host.

    Cindy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • My review is a little long, but we stayed 5 nights so I have lots to say! First and foremost, Carrie is the Best hostess! She is super responsive and a gracious host. We stayed at Tranquility too, it's a cute little cabin about 700sf / 900sf including the porch. First impression, it's definitely off the beaten path. For the most part getting there you are on paved roads, but to get to this property you'll drive up a dirt road to a nice gravel driveway. Your cabin overlooks a quaint pond (with catfish in it). It's surrounded by trees and the grass is green. It's a spectacular view especially while enjoying your coffee or tea from the porch in the morning. You have a neighboring cabin also owned by Carrie. It's a shared space for the dock, fire pit & grill. Your cabin is absolutely beautiful!! You will love it here! The floors are beautiful light wood and the ceiling is tongue and groove wood. It is SO clean. At first I was worried about bugs and spiders (I mean we are in the woods after all) I saw a couple spiders outdoors but inside this is top notch!! The couch is a sleeper - air mattress type. It's way more comfortable than my husband and I thought it would be. Carrie has all of the necessities for cooking (except the food) the Piggly Wiggly is about 8 miles away to pick up grocery's for cooking. Pots, pans, utinsels, plates, bowls, mugs, cups, everything is there! The counter top in the kitchen is beautiful granite! The bathroom is spacious with some places to hang your clothing. It's like new inside this stunning cabin! We walked the loop... It's something your legs and calves feel if you're not used to hills. We felt safe here and would recommend this to anyone looking for some peace and quiet. Oh, the star gazing is spectacular! A couple things to note: there is WiFi, but it's not the strongest. You can send and receive emails, check Facebook updates and messages. It is not suitable for streaming. The nearest town to buy groceries, get fuel etc is 8 miles away and with the winding hills takes about 15-20 minites to get to. It's just what we were looking for tho when we left FL for our Hurrication! Peace! We did get to peak in and see the cabin next door. It is larger with two bedrooms and a fireplace with a full sized kitchen and a washer & dryer. It's beautiful and smells of cedar. If you like more space or have more than just two traveling I recommend Tranquility (the cabin next door). If we were to plan a trip for peace and quiet again in the hills / woods of TN we are most definitely staying here again!! Highly recommended with 5 Stars!! Thank you Carrie, for everything!!

    Karrie2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cozy little cabin, enjoyed it very much ❤

    Angel2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and peaceful spot, would stay again. Screened in porch was so relaxing!

    Kelly2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Carrie is the best Host she has made sure you have everything you need. Everything is close enough to drive to. If you’re looking for a peaceful get away this is the perfect spot to be. I couldn’t of asked for anything better than this. Drinking my morning coffee on this beautiful screened in porch every morning overlooking the pond is a memory I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to visit again Thanks Carrie! Amanda Z.

    Amanda2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay and again the cabin was very clean. The location is truly peaceful. For a cabin, it is modern and lacks nothing. I look forward to staying there again.

This is a farm stay creative retreat escape into the countryside of Tennessee - 90 miles southwest of Nashville. If you are looking for a good night's rest and opportunity to sit in nature, interact with the camp animals - donkeys, chickens, cats, and dogs - this is for you. This house is in a nice forest section the 5 acre retreat facility with another 12 acres across the street with access to the Buffalo River. The retreat art studio is about 300 feet away with add-on options like pottery.
This room is a private affordable option at my farm stay creativity retreat center that has 3 houses and can sleep total of 22-28 if fully booked plus primitive camping and RV parking for 3. In 2018, I walked away from a career as a graphic design professor to pursue a dream of having a BnB, lodge, and farm creative retreat center that has an artist residency program. I finally have this room and house ready for guests so I'm excited to host you on your adventure. There is a total of 17 acres and on a clear night you'll see the stars. In the summer, you'll see the fireflies. This is meant to be an affordable and relaxing yet creatively inspiring place. Bring your book, journal, art, craft projects during your stay. Add-on activities are optional such as pottery so please ask for more info. This room is private and in the house shared with me, your host. You can use the public space of the living, dining, and kitchen. Visit with the animals - 28 chickens, 8 donkeys (standard and minis), cats, and dogs. There are several cats that are inside/outside in this house. If you are allergic, please inquire of my other listings. The dogs also are inside at night. The Pyrenees may want to use your lap for a headrest at the end of his tough day guarding. There are farm fresh eggs daily and seasonally available items from the garden. ******* PLEASE NOTE ******* a few of the cats really love this room. They aren't in there all the time and I keep it as clean of cat hair as possible including covering all of the bedding with a sheet when the room is not rented. I wash bedding regularly. You can keep the door closed at night obviously or allow them to come and visit you as you wish. My room is across the hall.
This is a rural area on a well maintained state road, not a backwoods gravel road. It's safe and quiet. Guests have regularly commented on seeing the stars and how quiet it is especially those who live in urban environments (no sirens for example). I am near Natchez Trace Parkway. I'm 20 minutes from two different towns in different directions. May want to get your groceries on your way here. My property has access to the Buffalo River with a mild hike down a bluff to the river bed. There's a nice swimming hole section to hang out. This is the rolling foothills of Appalachia with many farms such as cattle in the vicinity. It's my first time living in a rural area and I LOVE it so I'm hoping I can share this with you.
  • Val was a great hostess. We enjoyed the "farm" atmosphere and felt very much at home. The house was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. We were busy with family most of the time but look forward to returning soon and spending more time at this unique place. We would even like to participate in one of the quilting or pottery camps next time we visit.

Newly Established Campground-Quiet beautiful wooded environment, fresh air, creeks and springs… Walking trails, fields, and hills to climb if you wish. Wide open sky and brilliant stars! We have strived to keep our campground as natural as possible. Manicured is not the word we would use to describe it… Natural would be more accurate. Come and enjoy the woods, the REAL woods! See you soon
During your stay with us you can visit exceptional local restaurants, go canoeing nearby on the Buffalo River or Tennessee River, or even rent a horse from a local stable and go for a trail ride. Don’t forget about exploring the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, not to mention it’s only a short drive to “The Farm”, a working commune started in the 60s still functioning today! Will You Marry Me? Sure! We have an on-site officiant! Would you like to hold an event such as an outdoor wedding, elopement or a wedding reception party? Our place is perfect for it! See our website www.heartstonecampground.com for details.
One of the best features about our location is even though you feel completely removed from the world, there are three small towns within 15 minutes of us; Hohenwald, Linden, and Waynesboro. There’s food, shopping, canoeing, a Riding Stable and some great restaurants! We even have a Walmart and an Ace Hardware! The Buffalo River is 5 minutes away, where you can float, fish and swim, and the Tennessee River is about 25 minutes away. Yup we have it all !
  • Mandy’s place is absolutely beautiful! The camping area is well maintained And they seem like very nice people.

    Jesse2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect camping experience for our little family. We had a creek side site that was refreshing for an afternoon walk with our toddler who loved looking for little fish and splashing around. Our campsite had a well kept campfire that we were able to cook meals on. We were very impressed by the accommodations. Both the shower house and outhouse were newly built, clean and accessible. Mandy was the sweetest host! She anticipated our arrival, answered our questions and gave great recommendations in town. We were impressed by our warm welcoming host and beautiful property. This is the ideal campsite for a family.

    Megan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful camp sight. We arrived late at night and were able to see the fireflies covering the campground. The outdoor bathrooms were very clean and secure and Mandy was very helpful. If we didn’t have to leave early, we definitely would have stayed longer.

    Joshua2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing stay!!! Worth way more than the price! Absolutely will be visiting again. They are such great people and so hospitable! Would absolutely recommend!

  • Heartstone campground was very peaceful- I went to sleep wit the whippoorwills and woke up with the songbirds. Also, Mandy gave great instructions for my after dark arrival. Will definitely stay again !

    Ray2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved heartstone campground. Conveniently located near the buffalo river. It’s a five minute drive to Crazy Horse Canoe & Kayak Rental. Which makes floating the Buffalo so easy! Also, a 40 minute drive to Perryville Marina on the beautiful TN RIVER! With boat parking, and a community fire pit, It’s perfectly nestled in a wooded area that is undamaged and loved by its owners. It’s is a primitive style camping experience, with new outhouses and a shower house on its way! The owners are very nice and helpful, and keep the place very tidy and stocked for all your camping needs! Would absolutely recommend staying and we will definitely be future customers!

The master bed is super comfortable, the bunk beds were perfect for the kids and the view is breathtaking! Cereice exceeded all expectations and was very easy to contact (we contacted her since we came in early due to the time change). Anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle but still needs to be close enough to civilization, this is the place for you. We will definitely be back!

This room is private master with an en suite. It is accessed from the living room and is opposite corner of the other bedrooms. This is my permanent residence as a work at home environment. You may share the living, dining, and kitchen. I do my best to keep the house clean regularly including vacuuming up dog hair almost daily. I may be in the midst of projects so there could be a few piles of either paperwork or loads of eggs from my chickens or a batch of garlic I’ve just harvested or mint I’m drying out. You enter from the back door through the laundry room. Please REMOVE SHOES for inside to help keep the outside, outside. ***This is rural but easily accessible from a main state highway. Cell phone service is spotty. This location for me is intentional to not have as good of a connection to the outside world. I have satellite WiFi with a limited data plan. Broadband is coming, but it's not here yet. If you are visiting this area to sit inside on your computer this isn't really the place to be. If you are visiting for a creative retreat, a holiday where you'll be out and about, or for work where you'll be out during day and home at night using the kitchen then this is a good spot. WIFI rules - limit your video settings below HD (hd will use up to 4gb per movie) and NO FACETIME (an hour or more of facetime can use 10GB a day which will put me past my data limit requiring a purchase before my account rolls over. If you want to reach out to your loved ones in video chat, this could incur a $30 per day charge so please ask of the viable options). There are two towns nearby with clear cell phone service and a few spots that have wifi. There's also a higher level area about 1 mile down the road if you want to use your cell phone. In addition, I have a house phone that you may use, just ask. Anyone who may be citing this on their review, never asked.****

I have 2 special needs dogs (1 Pyre with 3 legs and 1 old dog with 1 eye). I have cats on the payroll that go out and catch field mice. In September 2019 after losing several cats within a year, a volunteer family stopped for a few days and left behind some kittens they had rescued on their road trip that are feisty rascals in Feb 2020. I've taken in another stray, so it’s a chaotic, but fun kitten therapy. If you are allergic, please inquire of my other listings. The dogs also are inside at night. The Pyrenees may want to use your lap for a headrest at the end of his tough day guarding. There are farm fresh eggs daily and seasonally available items from the garden. ******* PLEASE NOTE ******* there are no animals allowed in your room. You can help this by keeping the door shut. They are allowed in other parts of the house so if you have allergies please inquire availability of my other listings. There is one other room for rent in this house.
The dining and living area is open plan. I have one table with four chairs and another long table that doubles as a computer space. There is a large couch and sitting area in the living room facing the fireplace where I like to have fires when I’m home in the appropriate seasons. There is satellite WiFi so no streaming HD or FaceTime. As mentioned, your phone may not work so please ask to use the house phone.

There is a deck on the back and the front of the house. I have a chicken coop and range area in the front of the house. To access this you will go down a gravel driveway, go through a metal gate, and drive a roundabout around the house driveway.
As an artist retreat, I encourage you to bring your book, journal, art, craft projects during your stay. Add-on activities are optional such as pottery so please ask for more info.
My property has riverfront access to the Buffalo River with a mild hike down a road from the bluff to the river bed or ask to ride my 4WD SUV with your own kayak or canoe. The river is maybe a leisurely 10 minute walk from the house as they are on opposite flanks of the retreat. There's a nice swimming hole section to hang out. This is the rolling foothills of Appalachia with many farms such as cattle in the vicinity. It's my first time living in a rural area and I LOVE it so I'm hoping I can share this with you. This is NOT "The Farm" intentional community. That is in Summertown approximately 40 minute drive.

Newly renovated secluded country cottage in the woods. Just driving in through the scenic rural country roads is an added treat with endless pastures, farms and corn fields . You may spot wild turkey any time and deer (usually at dawn or at dusk) among the hilly winding roads as you approach the cottage.
This retreat offers the tranquility and the simple life with all the amenities of the modern world (except cell service, texting usually does work with wifi) Central air conditioner and heat, (wood burning fireplace will be ready for the fall/winter season) Satellite TV, Satellite WIFI and a land phoneline do connect you to the outside if you should desire, but, why would you? Two bedrooms upstairs with comfy queen mattresses and plenty of pillows and a full bathroom upstairs, the fully equipped kitchen and dining room are upstairs also as well as one of the decks. Downstairs is a master bedroom suite with king bed and a full private bathroom as well as a family/TV room with game table. The utility room with full washer and dryer are downstairs also.
There are many natural and historic attractions within a 5mile radius of the cottage, including the Meriwether Lewis burial ground and numerous campground and hiking trails in the pristine Natchez Trace Parkway National Park. There is also canoeing and kayaking outfitters in the area as well as horse back riding. For a unique experience visit Lawrenceburg and the Amish Colony there, you will be driven on a horse drawn carriage thru their centuries old farms and will have the opportunity to go in some of their homes and of course buy their crafts and foods. The closest town, Hohenwald, is about a 12minute car ride, there you will find a Walmart that’s open 24 hours as well as many local restaurants and diners. Our favorites are The Junkyard Dog for American comfort food, (no beer or liquor served here). If you need a drink, across the street is The Lewis and Clark Restaurant and Bar. Our favorite Mexican restaurant is Casa Grande which is nest to a “Dollar Tree” store near Walmart. (Tasty food and great Margaritas by the glass or pitcher) There are also McDonalds, Taco Bell, Hardees, Sonic, Pizza Hut and others in that area. Remember most of them close around 9PM and some close on Sundays. There is an elephant sanctuary in the area with a “store front” visitor center on Main Street as well as a local museum and a town Visitor Center. For an added treat visit the three local wineries in the area. They offer daily tastings and special seasonal weekend events and actually produce some impressive wines.
  • We richly enjoyed our visit there. I would gladly stay there again!

  • Expect a quiet and comfortable stay at Alvarina's country retreat. We loved the wooded setting of the cottage and the views from the kitchen!

  • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The location was superb, almost at the end of a dead end road and very private and quiet. We were able to enjoy the sights and and sounds of nature especially on the back deck which is surrounded by trees. The cottage was very clean and had all of the supplies we needed. We highly recommend staying here!

    Sheryl2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a really nice secluded area. Near Buffalo River. I would definitely recommend going to the Elephant Sanctuary center in Hohenwald and going to the Meriwether Lewis NPS site right next to the cottage. Natchez Trace parkway is a delightful drive that you can take down to Florence, AL. The cottage itself is clean and spacious. Two great decks off the back offer nice outdoor privacy.

    James2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alva's cottage is cute, quant and quiet...the perfect place to relax and get in some quality time with family. It is located right off the road with a beautiful view off the back into a sea of trees. And across the way at night we caught a show of lightning bugs that our 2 year old just loved. The amenities were great and the rooms were comfortable. The stairs are pretty steep and their placement creates a couple low points, so watch your heads. With just about a 15-20 minute drive you can be at some local delicious restaurants, Natchez Trace, fast food and Walmart. The area is beautiful, so sit back, relax and take it all in.

The space is designed for for individual or groups seeking time to 'get lost' in nature, in time, in a good book, in conversation ideally suited to creatives, but open for families, friends, or organizations in a retreat setting. This lodge is part of a burgeoning artist retreat center but all are welcome to help the investment to reduce costs for artists. Whether you are looking for a travel pitstop, a place to rest after a day of canoeing or horseback riding, or hiking nearby this is your spot
The house is on 5 acres and part of a new retreat center for creativity, the arts and graphic design workshops called Camp Wonder Wander. When workshops are not in session, this is the perfect place for your group to congregate for a vacation, a retreat or planning meeting, or family reunion. Scout troops may receive discount - just inquire. During the summer, optional add-ons for workshops may be available. Meals may also be added please inquire. Val, your host, has traveled in Europe and Japan and has stayed in numerous youth hostels, guesthouses, airbnbs, bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels. She has designed the space with this type of travel in mind. She hopes to have international travelers who are passing thru and may just want to rent a room for a few nights - if that's the case, please inquire for different pricing. The main lodge is designed for multi-functions and groups as large as 13 (14 or 15 for small people using the top bunk or the couch). The space is dormitory style but also takes into account small groups or couples traveling. You will find the decor in the main lodge to be cozy with small touches of items from a recent trips to Japan and memorabilia along with bookshelves filled with graphic design resources (Val is a professor of graphic design). There are camp cats here that live mostly outside. We have just built a large chicken coop enclosure attached to the house outside the kitchen and three season porch. We also have added miniature donkeys to our facility not only as sweet loving animals that want to be petted but as grazers to decrease time on the lawn mower. Please ask if you would like to interact with any of our animals, but the donkeys may automatically come up to the fence to say hello.
This is a rural area but there are still neighbors in site (please respect the neighbors as your night time voices will carry a long distance). It's absolutely beautiful drive to get here and you will enjoy the peacefulness. The roads are well maintained state roads so it's easy to access. Sit on one of several porches and listen to the birds sing or the bugs or frogs at night. The night skies are lovely and we'll let you use our telescope if you ask. We have access to the Buffalo River and with additional fee you can rent the inflatable kayaks or bring your own (warning the hill is steep and we haven't set up a rigging system yet to help you take your kayak out of the water).
  • Excellent host! Will definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

    Arthur2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Wonder Wander has an atmosphere all its own. Valerie was an excellent host, hospitality abound. There were plenty of beds for our kayak trip group, enough kitchen artillery to cook up anything we wanted, and the space lent itself to fun games and delightful conversations. The private river access(after a brief and somewhat steep hike) is beautiful. We highly recommend Camp Wonder Wander.

    Nathan2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • It is in a rural place , worth the drive to go any where. It was quiet and had a few neighbors. Cyndi, was there to show us around. She even surprised is with some amazing banana bread. There was no space wasted every inch in the room was well used . It was such a beautiful experience. Had to evacuate due to the hurricane and this trip made the evacuation a peaceful one. I have never seen donkeys so close jeje luckily in the backyard there was 2 . Also rabbits ! The Buffalo river is so close to go kayaking . Unfortunately couldn't go this time but next for sure I'm already thinking of our future trip .

  • The house was magnificent, and Valerie was the best host ever

    Xavi2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie was a great host to my group staying at her house for the weekend. We were staying in Waynesboro to get away and canoe the Buffalo river. The house was very clean and we were provided with everything we needed. She stayed next door at another house on the property and was available 24/7 if we needed her. We were Valerie's first guests staying at this location. She explained her vision for her house and property is to provide a creative getaway for artist of all kinds. Our group agreed it was a beautiful quiet location for that purpose and her home is warm and private.

Bright spacious well appointed room in a painstakingly restored Victorian home of a prominent town founder. Business- people will find the large desk, multiple outlets & Wifi useful. Shared kitchen on first floor with hardwood cabinets & stainless appliances. (Obstructed) Tennessee River and pool views. Large bathroom with unique angles and a large shower. Restored 1890s hardwood floors. Blackout shades, flat panel smart TV: Roku, Netflix, YouTubeTV & other on demand programming & music.
Driving down Pillow Street, you’ll be shaded by huge, century- old trees- then - a break in the branches reveals this grand dame of a home. Walk up the historic stone sidewalk to reach the front porch, where a bright sunburst welcomes you. Enter through the front door and step back in time: the sight of the curving staircase, ornate wood moldings, original pocket doors and parlor with bay window transport you to a grander era. This nine- room, Victorian home is full of original woodwork and high ceilings. Grand for its location and era, it has been modernized with plumbing & WiFi.
Located in a very nice residential neighborhood 2 blocks from the small quaint, historic downtown, including police station. Three blocks In other direction is the Clifton Marina, with covered boat docks, fuel, food & supplies on the Tennessee River. We enjoy sitting on the covered porches, under ancient trees, plus having meals under the crystal chandelier in the formal dining room. Or, enjoy a glass of wine or a snack in the living room while catching up on the news, watching cars go by, or studying neighbors primping their yards through the original stained glass window. You really DO feel as if you’ve stepped back into the early 1900s, pampered existence which must have occurred in that home. Once you relax into it, it’s a glorious feeling!
  • This beautifully restored bed and breakfast sits in a charming and peaceful country town. If your looking for great rest and hospitality away from the rush of city life, this should be at the top of your list! We would definitely return!

Check in and out was seamless, the rooms were very clean and cozy, and the innkeepers were superbly accommodating and greeted us with such a warm and hospitable welcome throughout our stay. THIS IS A RURAL LOCATION ON A STATE MAINTAINED ROAD. THERE ARE NEIGHBORS IN VISUAL DISTANCE BUT YOU ARE 20 MINUTES FROM ANY TOWN. What comes with rural? SEE BELOW. This is a creatively decorated artist retreat center to reinvigorate the kid inside of you with lighthearted aspects from bright fun bedding to posters that hopefully inspire joy and energy. This unit is on the edge of a 5 acre camp complex with a fenced in yard, a huge back deck and another front deck for sunset watch.
This retreat center is the literal manifestation of a life passion and sweat equity including little details of mosaic tile kitchen counter and artwork either collected on travels or contributed by myself or other artists. The renovation is a one-woman effort to design a creative retreat that will reinvigorate the kid inside of you. A chance to get away from the buzz of modern society, but you can still instagram if you want with our wifi access across the camp. There are games instead of a tv. Enjoy hanging out on the back deck and gaze at the stars or the front deck for the sunset. Plenty of other outdoor seating for small groups or individual relaxation. New HVAC heat pump keeps the space very comfortable in summer and winter, but don't worry we have plenty of blankets too for a nice winter night. **WARNING: THIS IS RURAL!!** We are on a well maintained state road with a few neighbors in visual distance. What comes with rural? Your phone may not work, but we have wifi camp-wide. There may be bugs - we supply bug spray. There may be dead bugs - we have a pest control service and you might see other types of bug traps. Please keep all food stored and trash must be taken with you or ask where we store it before our weekly trips to the landfill.
The rural rolling hills of this area are called the High Forest and is the same level as Gatlinburg. There a many farms surrounding us. This is a RURAL property but not off-road and not completely isolated as there are a few neighbors in the distance. Conveniently located on a well-maintained state road there is not much traffic. What you may hear instead is the distant moo-ing from the farms or our donkeys braying. If you would like to walk to the river, take a hike in the woods, or get directions to nearby outdoor activities, please ask. The off-road mud track is 2 miles away. The fitness spa is just a bit farther. There's a yoga retreat in the hills behind us. The natchez trace is about 15 minute drive for access and there are numerous parks in the area. The town of Hohenwald is lovely and seeing slow growth - don't miss the Elephant Sanctuary storefront and the Chamber of Commerce welcome center on main street has a store with all local products.
  • Really cool space, especially on the inside. My husband and I are fellow artists, so we appreciated the little touches. It was well heated and the beds were super comfy!

Supplied: linens, coffee, tea, a few drinking waters. (If you consume a lot of water, please plan on bringing your own)There's a small refrigerator, one burner for heating food and a toaster oven. No microwave or oven or tv.
  • Nice little place away from the hustle and bustle to recharge.

  • The pallet house is a cute little cabin nestled in the woods, off a gravel road. It’s very peaceful and relaxing place. There was just enough room for my Brother and my daughters to stay. My daughter loved the roll away bed under the twin bed. I loved that they had some games, which entertained my children at night. No TV, Which is good! Everything is thought of in this place down to the flash light to use at night time! However, there is bare minimum cell phone reception at the cabin and on the way. The nearest town (Savannah) was about 20-25 minutes away, which is where my Dad lived. I would for sure come back and stay again while visiting my Dad in Savannah.

  • Really wonderful! Private and serene location in the woods. Very clean and had everything I needed. I got lost- don't be like me! The GPS will tell you to turn off of 128 onto Streaming Water Loop- that is incorrect!!!! Stay on 128, cross over Hardin Creek and turn onto Creek Ridge Rd. Follow Creek Ridge for 7 miles, turn left after the trading post onto Wise Way, pass a house on the left and start looking for the mailbox marked 200 on the right. The driveway to the house is right there.

  • You deserve to find this beautiful, historic absolutely fantastic grand dame of a residence in Clifton, Tennessee! If you have the opportunity to stay here, do so at once. I so enjoyed my bath, my walk around pleasant Clifton, the ramble along the peaceful Tennessee River, the genuine hospitality of John and Sharon— the amazing breakfast in the dining room, the history, the comfort, the welcome respite from the road. This place is ideal if for instance you’re exploring between Nashville and Memphis, or if you want just a plain old visit to a bygone era and way of life. I can’t rave enough about my most excellent visit. John met me in person to greet me warmly and get me all settled in just as a fantastic thunderstorm and torrential rain bucketed the area. It was so reassuring and wonderful to be in such a beautifully restored and historic home (it actually felt like I was staying in a museum— in a good way!) Just gorgeous. Do yourself a favour, stay here if you can! Thanks ever so.

Feel yourself say ‘ahhhhh’ as you enter this spacious master bedroom and bath. This retreat has everything you need be restored and to reset- a big fluffy bed, a gigantic tub, and space outside to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Bonus: a hammock for reading your favorite book before napping.
This space is out in the country- you’ll literally turn off the paved road to get here. It’s a perfect place to get away from it all...whatever ‘it’ is!
There are a few houses within walking distance, but you’re much more Likely to hear sheep baa-ing or roosters crowing than you are to hear traffic. Sunsets over the field are stunning- you’ll definitely want to bring a toast to the beauty in this part of middle Tennessee!

  • This was an absolutely amazing place for us to relax after a long day of travel. Jackie and Julie greeted us at the door and warmly welcomed us into their place. They had cold water and fresh cookies available for a snack. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable. They offered us so many choices for breakfast. And then we were able to relax in the jacuzzi tub and the quiet room. It was very restful. In the morning they had delicious coffee waiting for us, and then they brought us homemade granola, yoghurt, and fresh fruit before our main course of blueberry pancakes, sausage, and bacon! Julie even helped us with directions to our destination. And Jackie gave us a quick history of the house that was very interesting. It was such an amazing time, definitely worth it! Jackie and Julie were amazing gracious hostesses who were eager to please and make sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a place to relax and rejuvenate.

  • The camping spot is perfect for my camper/conversion van. Clean, Nice and level. Electricity and fun VERY close. I love the chickens & donkeys--they are so friendly and fun to interact with. Very hard to compete with fresh eggs. River Access: Across the street is a beautiful undeveloped walk to the river. BEAUTIFUL. The walk is currently pretty challenging but worth it. Val said she was working on that to make it a little easier. Area: I didn't get to do any of Val's Airbnb tours on this visit but hope to that next trip. So many things to do in this area and very accessible to Nashville if I wanted to visit. Artist retreat, river activities, Elephant Rescue organization, Trail of Tears, Yoga establishments, Daniel Boone, stuff the list goes on. So glad I found this place.

    Wendy2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This location is exactly as described it is quite and quaint. Valerie and the caretakers that reside on the property are so kind and absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a short term quiet stay or a long term relaxing retreat then this is absolutely a place you should consider!

This is the pine room in a lodge that ultimately can sleep 15. If you are an individual or group up to 4 wanting to use a smaller area then this is a good space. It's a large living area featuring a woodstove and the exterior door opens up to a porch overlooking the donkey dry paddock. The room features a twin bed and trundle, a large leather couch and a love seat, a smaller fabric couch, a great big chair and two rolling square benches.
This room is in the back of the main lodge at Camp Wonder Wander. There are quite a few windows providing nice afternoon light and a chance to watch the donkeys and chickens. The common space is the kitchen, dining, and sitting area. The other rooms may or may not be occupied. The bathroom for this space is shared and features a walk in shower.
This is a rural area of rolling hills featuring forested spots and pastures. There are neighbors in the distance but it's a quiet area. I have access to the Buffalo River so please inquire with your preferred needs.

  • This is one of the nicest bed and breakfast Inns we have ever stayed at. I cannot say enough about the hospitality, cleanliness and wonderful hosts. We will be back!

  • This is a very nice and refreshing place to stope for a respite. John and Sharon are the kindest couple who will take time if you need it. They care about making your stay comfortable. You will have a delightfully prepared breakfast with plenty of coffee refills if you need it. The bed was extra comfortable and thermostat set perfect. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and up to the Tennessee River overview. A great stay with a very affordable price.

  • It was such an amazing experience for us to stay at the Commodore Inn. The house is gorgeous and the hospitality could not be better. Sharon and her husband were so helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast we had together very much. Thank you for this wonderful stay!

  • My stay at The Commodore up in Clifton is a reminder of all the reasons I choose to AirBnB when I travel! John and Sharon were the sweetest hosts, coming and cooking me breakfast, checking in to see if I needed any snacks, and remembering small details like an extra towel to enjoy the pool. I am a single female traveler and stayed alone, it was one of the safest feeling spots I've been in. Pristine clean room, hot shower, beautiful old restored home. I'd recommend to anyone and will be returning regularly on my work trips through the area.

  • Gerri was the sweetest person in the world. The kids absolutely loved staying here. They said it was the best place they ever stayed and want to come back again for our next visit. We loved the animals and the land. We took an amazing walk through her gorgeous property. The horses and the cows come right up to you while grazing on the land. Animals were just beautiful and the dogs were so sweet. We wanted to take them all home. This place would be perfect for hunting trips and if you want to visit a farm. We relaxed and didn’t even need TV. The kids didn’t even play with their cell phones or video games they had so much to do outside.

  • Recently my 14 year old son and I planned a trip to travel around Tennessee. Our first stop was in Clifton to see friends. I booked Stacy's place mainly for the size of the apartment...I was looking for a place where my son & I could have our own rooms and some privacy. I also liked that this AirBnB had a private entrance and was not a shared space. Stacy met us upon arrival and greeted us with a warm welcome. She gave us great information to the town, history, and local tips & tricks ! We were quite impressed with her hospitality and friendly demeanor. We learned she also owned a local Marina (Clifton RV Park & Marina) where we ended up going for a hearty made-to-order breakfast that we were able to enjoy while taking in the breathtaking view of the calm Tennesse River (Inside there is also a general store with great locally made jewelry, which made for fantastic souvenirs!!) The atmosphere was lovely and gave us a sense of small town Tenneesse living! Back to the apartment ... Very spacious. You could literally live there. Full kitchen, his & hers bathrooms, and comfy beds. Lots of individual space that was welcome after a long flight and even longer drive !! The apartment was extremely clean with lots of thoughtful extras and amenities. We would not hesitate to recommend Stacy's place! Especially if you are travelling with a family, band, or just like to spread out and feel at home... give this place a go.!!)
