  • We had an amazing time staying with Imeri at her homestay. Her kids picked us up from Lautoka wharf for $80pp (much cheaper than other options). Bring sunscreen and a big hat for the boat trip. There are lots of cool animals in the village, like a goat, dogs, cats and chickens. The food was delicious, plentiful and very cheap! The children were great to play with - Bring a pack of cards and Uno, they love it! The snorkelling with sharks was super exciting, and they don't bite! Make sure you do the manta ray trip when they are in season, as we didn't see any. Thanks Imeri for a wonderful time!!

  • The place is not were I was expecting. I was supposed to be in a house with a beach view and end up in the middle of the village. The people of the village is really nice and friendly.

  • Staying with Imery’s family was really great experience! We spent there almost 5 days and even if I get sick because of the sun they were really nice to me and all my friends. We bring also our hammock for sleeping on Fiji so we could sleep outside just between the palms. Just one thing, dont forget to bring some chocolate for this family they were really appraised it! ❤️

  • Great and funny family, Nice people from the village in a beautiful island. The food is delicious everyday, don't take you own food, bring 5 Fijian dollar for each food (15/day... WORTH IT). Too much western people, so it's not 100% Fijian life, but really worth it. The sea is wonderful and there many activities.

    Binwa2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a cool experience with warm hearted host ! Food was delicious and all in all it was a real authentic fiji experience. I can only recommend it. :)

  • We had a great time staying with Wais & Ele and enjoying the village life. The room is minimal but you won't spend any time in it! We enjoyed the snorkeling with the sharks, hiking up to the top of the island, and generally chatting with villagers and fellow travelers!

  • Great location, Waya Lelei is a beautiful island with both a nice beach and a peak with you climb. The house is in the center of the village and a few meters away from the beach. Weis and Ele were very welcoming and offered activities to keep us busy Would definitely recommend

  • We spent 3 nights in Wais and Ele's place. We really enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend staying there. The family is very friendly and the location very good. Ele is a fantastic cooker and prepare traditionnal fijian dish. We did go snorkeling with the sharks which we recommend. The hike to the top of the island at sunset was incredible. We also went fishing with them which was a lot of fun. For scuba divers their is a dive center at the resort 200 m away. We could have stay there for one more week without problem. Thank you again Wais and Ele it was fantastic. I will never forget my birthday with you !

  • We had an amazing time here in this Fijian family homestay. Appi and his family showed us the Fijian way of life. The food was delicious, you even got to go fishing and eat fresh tuna. Had opportunities to visit the village and interact with the villagers and the play with the beautiful kids. You can go snorkeling right in front of the home stay. Activities like swimming with manta rays and reef sharks were available. Cheap and fantastic!!! They also took us on a boat trip to the cave along all the Yasawa islands. This was simply one of our best trips. Thanks Api and the family 😉

  • We had a great time on this small island. Friendly people and a authentic Fijian atmosphere. Great panorama view from the balcony! If you want to stay in a real Fijian family, this is the right host. There is no supermarket on the island, so you have to bring all the stuff you need. The interior is simple but authentic. Thanks for the experience.

  • We had an amazing stay. The whole village took us in and was so welcoming. Would highly recommend this stay as a contrast to the fabricated, resort style holiday. This was so authentic and relaxing.

    Kalena2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a very primitive way of living, which means I get to experience eating with hands, and using and drinking water from rain water, and feeling the wind by the seaside near the community hall. Wais and Ele and their children are friendly people, they cook natural good food, and drive the boat very skillfully. The mountain climbing guide Nabs is like a god to me. He climbs without his shoes, and is some twenty years older than me and is very strong when climbing down with me at night and in rain time. Solomon is a humorous guy. With Christmas family gathering, I got to know a lot of their relatives, all are very good and friendly people. Especially a young girl named Angi, who can speak my language, which is very interesting. They will sing Christmas carols in the church, which is only a few steps away. To snorkel is hard for me, but it is nice to see small fish and big fish, they call it a shark, which is friendly. They will have some fishes to eat, with not much fishbones. There are two cocks, shouting by competing with each other. There are two or three dogs, most time lazy sleeping, sometimes barking. There are a pig which they dig a hole in the ground to cook it. There are many bugs in the island, ants crawling and flies flying in the daytime, mosquitoes at nighttime. Beware if your blood is sweet as they will definitely bite you. Not much electricity as they use solar power. But it is a good way of saving energy. It is a nice experience but the weather is too hot. There will be a cyclone some time. In this case, they will alert you the cyclone and sent you to the main island where their sister live, which showed how much they care about you. It is also a very good experience on the main island. I thank them for all they’ve done for me. Best wishes to them in the future.

  • We stayed for 3 days at Wais in their typical village and very welcoming, it was really great to share and discover their culture. If you are looking for an experience in a Fijian village then you are in the right place!

  • Wais, Ele and their family were so warm and welcoming to us. We loved our village experience, including the tasty food and activities available. It was a great part of our trip, would love to come back!!

    Brit2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We booked with Wais and Ele to get a more authentic feel for Fiji and that's exactly what we got. The family is kind, generous and welcoming. We really enjoyed meeting the other villagers and going swimming with the sharks and spearfishing. The food was delicious and great value. The rooms are simple (there are multiple ones rented out) and the house is centrally located in the village near the church. Bring ear plugs if you don't want an early start (Sunday church service is 5am and 'Bo' the rooster will get you up!). Kava is a ceremonial ritual that should be experienced and it is respectful to bring some root to the village chief (get some at the Nadi Town market before you leave the mainland). Wais picked us up in their boat and is a great captain - put your trust in Fiji and you will have a great experience! Thank you Wais and Ele for sharing your lives with us.

  • We had an amazing time & you get to see the real Fiji. Wais & Ele were so welcoming and we felt like part of the family & community. Thanks so much you made our trip to Fiji 🙂

  • My 2-day stay with Mereonnie on Waya Island was the highlight of my 6 day trip in Fiji from December 2019 as a solo traveler. While other people may prefer staying in resorts, I got to experience the true Fijian island life, while being the only tourist in a 200 people village. Additionally, the island seemed like one of the nicest ones that I passed by on the way there, with a nice beach and great hiking opportunities on the hills surrounding the village. Mereonnie is a great host who not only offers you what is expected from an airbnb host, but also tries her best to make you feel comfortable and entertained while on that island. She and her mom also cooked some great food for me, while her older son showed me around the village, although I was also free to move around by myself. The amenities also included shower and a flush toilet. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the rest of the people on the island of all ages, from young kids to old adults, also seem very welcoming and I never had the impression that I was bothering them while moving around the village; on the contrary, many times people were stopping me to have a friendly chat with me. Overall, this was a great experience and I'm really happy that I chose to stay at Mereonnie's place on Waya Island.

    Andrei2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The chief was very welcoming during our sevusevu and the other villagers were accommodating (we helped weave the wedding mat for the following week!). Our hosts were very gracious and Onnie is an incredible cook! The village is quite large (about 200 people) and it was a real treat to visit the school while it was in session. Thank you!!

    Ronald2016-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Onnie and her family was a truly fantastic experience for my daughter and I. The aim of our holiday was to experience as true a Fijian culture as possible - avoiding the usual tourist traps. This goal was achieved. Onnie's family, and in fact the whole village, embraced us as one of their own. I anticipate that the friendships we made will be ongoing. As previous reviewers have stated, life in Yalobi is pretty basic, but make no mistake - the food provided was delicious, fresh, and plentiful; and Onnie, Vacis and Epa keep a very neat and tidy home.

    Matt2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Mereonnie, her Aunt and Uncle was fantastic. They welcomed us into their home and made us feel very welcome in the village. Mereonnie cooked delicious meals and showed us the Fijian village way of life.

    Rebecca2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Onnie picked us up on a little boat right from our ferry (Yasawa Flyer), and we felt welcomed right away. When we arrived to the village we visited the chief to give him 1kg of kava roots and a FJ$10 village fee each to be allowed to stay and explore the village. Girls all need to wear a sulu when you're outside, so be sure to buy one beforehand! All of the villagers shouted friendly "bulas" to us whenever we walked around the village, and we were offered guided hikes and handicrafts for sale made by the local women. We visited shortly after Cyclone Winston, and although there were some fallen trees, the damage wasn't too bad and didn't affect our visit. But since the crops were destroyed the village received food from the government, so we joined the entire village in the distributing process, where we were able to sit with everyone and chat with a couple of the villagers. Our other favorite time (besides swimming in the ocean every day) was buying kava powder and drinking kava with Onnie and her neighbors on our last night. We found out afterwards that this is a Fijian tradition for the last night of your visit, so we'd recommend anyone else staying with Onnie to do the same thing. The experience was exactly what was advertised -- a REAL Fijian village experience. It's a good fit for people who are curious about other cultures and are able to "rough it" for a while. No running water, no flush toilets, and only generator power for a couple hours on some evenings, but Onnie cooks delicious food, there is unlimited tea and coffee, and experience is one that will leave no doubt about whether it was genuine or not. It will be one you'll never forget! Thank you for everything, Onnie! We hope our paths will cross again. :)

    Hannah2016-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing family, once-in-a-lifetime experience... since I was here with people of this village during the strongest Cyclone in history of Fiji and possibly whole Pacific - Winston. I'm most definitely the first and last non-local to have done this. Onnie and her family are the most hospitable people ever. The best food! I would not exchange this experience not for anything! I am a true Fijian, not because I speak Fijian or lived here long time, but because I chose to stay (and possibly die) with these people, while everyone else got evacuated from the islands. I left part of my heart here with 9 year-old Pinna and some other people in this village. I will come back, because I care, because I love and because I will never forget. Stay here! Experience the true local life! Come see what real Fiji looks like. Their life is not easy, but they continue to live with a smile, a cup of Kava and will always make sure you are well, fed and happy. Thank you so much for everything! All my love! Vinandu Riki

    Elena2016-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The village of Yalobi is a real Fijian village. It is NOT a place to go if you want a resort experience, it is a place to visit if you want to see how a real Fijian village functions, meet the villagers and see how the Fijian people live. Mereonnie was a wonderful host, she was always around when we needed her and she answered all our questions without any awkwardness, even when they may have been silly ones! You will get the most out of this experience if you go into it with an open mind, a willingness to meet and talk to new people and the ability to ask to do things. Mereonnie is a host, not a tour guide, but if you do want to do things (i.e. visit the school, learn how to weave pandanas, visit the plantations, go hiking, go out fishing etc) just ask and she will know somebody in the village who can help you. Mereonnie also made us excellent food and plenty of it!

    Carolyn2016-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very unique Fijian experience, it's not living in a hut on the beach, but literally living as part of a 300-person island village. You will be living with Mereonnie and some of her family members in a 3-bedroom house, listening to the town cryer at night and hearing the church drum every morning, as well as the inevitable mid-afternoon pounding of the kava. There is really no better way to get away from it all and understand what village life is like for many modern-day Fijians. This also means no running water or plumbing (but the fresh underground spring water is clean and safe), no refrigeration, and only a few hours of power from the town generator each night. Expect to rise with the sun (and the many roaming roosters), enjoy some lazy mid-afternoon naps in the heat of the day, and stuff yourself with Mereonnie's delicious cooking and generous portions. Also for women, covered knees and torsos are a must in the village so come prepared with a few sarongs (called sulus).

  • The family was so nice and welcoming. The food was delicious and we couldn’t have asked for better hospitality! We would recommend the shark snorkeling and sunset hike.

  • The island was beautiful and so tranquil. Perfect paradise getaway, good value for money and a great experience.

    Mathew2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This homestay is the best option for staying on an island. You will be included in their village and experience a whole new way of life. When going there, make sure to bring clothes that cover your knees, as the women in the village have to cover their knees while walking in it. Mosquito repellent and loads of sunlotion. Be prepared and buy a sim card before you go as there is no Wi-Fi available here.

    Sarah2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This homestay is a must do. The hospitality of the locals is incredible. Yes there are roosters that crow in the morning, and church some days starts early, but if you embrace the culture you truly see another way of life. I highly recommend you spend the time to visit one of their church services. It's in Fijian, but the singing and passion shows through without translation needed. The food prepared by Ele and family is fantastic. Sunday is a day of rest so don't expect any of the experiences like snorkeling to happen on that day. Slow down to Fiji time and enjoy the stay!

    Nick2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with Wais and Ele. The room was beautifully clean with a comfortable bed and mosquito net. Ele fed us so well, we especially enjoyed the local fruit and octopus in coconut milk. The trip to swim with the sharks and the hike up the mountain are a must do. This is a beautiful island with a beautiful community of people living on it. We hope to return for longer in the future.

    Jenny2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • EXPERIENCE FIDJIEN! Despite living conditions that may seem difficult for a European, you will quickly forget the conditions by tasting the delicious dishes of Ele and all the laughs in this house. If you want to live a real moment of life by turning away from the resorts, book! You will live an experience that can not be told and only live! A big thank you to the whole family and the village!

    Florian2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for welcoming us in to your family.

    Eleanor2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first homestay in the Yasawas so I wasn't entirely certain what to expect, but it turned out to be a great introduction to the village lifestyle and Fijian hospitality. I was welcomed by WaisEle's eldest daughter, who visited with me and told me about the village and available activities while her grandmother prepared fresh fruit and baked bread. As I found out over the course of the next couple of days, fresh fruit was a part of every meal, which was very enjoyable. Baked goods were also commonly offered to round out the consistently tasty and generous meals. The accommodations are basic, as is the norm for the village. You should bring a torch/flashlight to provide light in the bedroom at night. The bed was comfortable and the netting kept the mosquitoes at bay while sleeping. The "scoop-shower" was a stimulating start to the day and always had plenty of water available throughout the day during my stay. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperative so it was too windy to take the boat to the reef and swim with the sharks, but another traveler told me it was a great experience when he did it earlier in the week. If I'm able to return to Wayasewa, I'll hope there is a room available at WaisEle's place.

Knox's Beach House is a beautiful and relaxed farm stay in the Yasawa Islands on Waya Island. The homestay is located on a private peninsula on the same bay as Octopus Resort. We have chickens, ducks, goats, pigs and Loki the puppy. We grow pineapple, banana, casava, tomato, lemon, coconut. There is a stunning reef directly in front. We offer meal packages simple or traditional fijian style. Come here to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and experience Island lifestyle.
We have a beautiful farm on the beach. We have a timber house with three bedrooms, indoor and outdoor living areas. We have six beds for guests with mosquito nets. We have fresh linen and housekeeping. There are many spaces to relax in the shade including the beach, the golf course style grass, and hammocks. The reef is fantastic for snorkelling and swimming. We have four surf boards for paddling.
You will feel like Tom Hanks in Castaway the movie. You can feel the village life nearby. You can also access the resort life at Octopus Resort if you purchase a meal plan there. We are very relaxed and you will quickly and easily be very relaxed here.

Come and experience true "Fiji Style" living. This house is right by a beautiful beach. Kuata island is just across the channel. Scuba diving and snorkeling is available close by. Eat amazing home cooked meals every night with the family, and adventure by day. If you cant reach us by airbnb then just show up! Go to Lautoka boat harbor north of Nadi and hire a boat to Wayasewa (also known as Wayalailai) stop 2&3 on Aesome Adventure. Just ask for Ruthie and Malis house when you arrive!
My home has two double rooms and also two single beds in the common room which are reserved for guests. My house is the Green one you can see on the beach. We share meals in the dinning room area.
You've never seen any community this close in your life. It is like one big family. Come experience Fiji style and you'll never want to leave!
  • My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time at Ruci's homestay. If you want to see the real Fiji then this is the way to go. The accommodation is simple but it's fantastic value. If you prefer resorts, you may not enjoy coming here, but personally I'm not a big fan of resorts so I enjoyed being able to explore the local life and feel like part of the family.

    Christopher2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Super homestay where we have the chance to discover the "real" Fiji! The island is beautiful and the family offers lots of activities to discover it :) and of course the best is Ruci's cuisine! the best we ate in Fiji :)

    Melissa2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing warm family homestay! True village life with great food, great activities and great hospitality. We spend 1 week with our 2 small kids in the village and felt right at home!

  • Don’t miss an opportunity to see how Fijians live, and to interact with them outside of a resort setting. This experience is worth any of the minor inconveniences. The hospitality of the family - honestly, the entire village - is outstanding. Everyone greets you with a smile and “Bula!” Ruci and Mali’s home is neat and clean. You are living as they live so there are vaguely annoying insects (ants, flies, a few mosquitoes) heat, and a basic bathing setup (which actually works quite well.) Food is plentiful, simple, good. You won’t go hungry and will get to try fruits & vegetables you haven’t tried before. There are a few organized/paid activities. The shark snorkel was fun, though the reef is not in great shape. There is a school visit (which we did not do). And then the hike to the top of the picturesque rock behind their house, a cooking lesson or a Fijian medicine walk. Venturing out on your own is limited as rocks and a resort stop your travel in either direction. You can hop in the ocean in front of their house, but there is a lot of reef rubble so pack your water shoes. Bring books, cards, board games or Fijian conversational skills to while away the hot afternoons.

    Mark2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I had 3 wonderful days to relax on the island. The shark diving and the hike to the top of the mountain can I highly recommend. You have to know, that you don't book a resort when you go to this homestay , so everything is simple. But you get an idea how it is, to live on a small island like wayalailai. The family is friendly and Ruci cares well for you. For me it was a great experience.

  • RUCI and Mali provided the best possible homestay experience you could ask for. RUCI prepared amazing meals for breakfast lunch dinner and afternoon tea. We loved spending time with her family and friends in the most beautiful location in the world. Although it was hot, they provided us with fans which made sleeping much more comfortable. We enjoyed visiting the school in the North village, taking the trek up the mountain, and snorkelling right in front of our place. RUCI was very accomadating to us as we were 4 adults and 4 young kids. She treated our kids like her own . I highly recommend staying at Ruci's to anyone who is looking for an authentic Fiji experience.

    Katie2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Ruci does such a wonderful job of making you feel like part of her family. Her place is modest but she takes great care to make it feel comfortable, clean and and inviting. Every meal she cooked for us was wonderful and we definitely did not go hungry! haha We were lucky to have been able to stay with Ruci when all 4 of her kids were at home on holiday. Each of her children were polite, generous with their time and space and infectiously happy! We were able to relax when we wanted to relax, play when we wanted to play, sit and ask questions when we wanted to talk and all the while basked in the warm feelings of family and home, even though we were miles away from our own. We only stayed for 2 nights/3 days but it was the perfect ending to our adventure filled vacation in New Zealand on our way back home. The boat ride to the island was a little longer than we had expected, but the island felt remote so it was worth the extra travel time. My kids were 15 and 13 and enjoyed cliff jumping, fishing and making bracelets. This was a sobering and lovely experience for my whole family.

Get an authentic Fijian experience! The house is located in the midst of Namara village/ Waya sewa Island. The beach is 1 minute walk away and is good for swimming and snorkeling. Walkable distance to 2 resorts. Friendly village and neighbours. You can join church service on Sunday. Lots of activities to do. Lovely food.
The house is consisted of 3 rooms. Can get doubles and twins as well from each room. So if you are planning to travel with families or with friends the rooms are okay for you. We provide clean bedsheets, pillow cases, towels and mosquito nets.It will be 35Fiji Dollars per person per day for the food You must know that we provide best food. The sitting room is filled with sofas, and coffee tables. We have WiFi in our property but connection is not that strong. We have a porch and this is where you get breakfast where you catch your morning fresh sea breeze and glimpse of the sunrise. Dinner is also organised on the beach where by you get around the fire and watching the stars, moon and falling stars. Lunch is optional. You can pay for the boat to take you away to the Sand Bridge. At the same time you can visit our local school and explore our nice snorkelling spot. It is $15 per person and free to kids under 12 years. Lunch is otherwise at home. You can also take a walk to Naqalia Lodge (family resort) whereby you can socialise with other guests or enjoy your time playing volleyball with the staff and the locals. Tap water is drinkable but you can buy your own water on the island. There are some small shop in the island where you can buy crisps, water, biscuits, souvenirs, but not ice cream. The house is twenty steps away from the beach and you are free to do snorkelling any time. Fishing can be fun and you can go fish your own dinner. To be here is to experience and practice village life. So do not expect luxury as thisnot a five star hotel.
The house is located in the village and the houses are not very far from each other. They are very friendly and you are welcome to go in their homes to visit or for chatting.
  • Great place to stay on a budget to get Fijian culture ❤️

    David2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and helpful host and family. The food is excellent, fresh fish, lots of vegetables, fruits etc. There was also daily afternoon tea. You can book many tips on the area and private tours with her. You travel by family boat, more privately, more flexibly and much cheaper than by ferry. We enjoyed it a lot, also learned a lot about the fijipeople, nice communication, friendly village members. We would book the stay at Imeri again at any time. Thank you for everything!

    Andrea &Amp; Heli2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful village experience. We were hosted by Sylvia, as Imeri was away from the village at that time. Highlight was snorkelling with the reef sharks and experiencing a taste of Fijian culture. Thanks for having us!

  • This is a great place if you want to experience the Fijian small village life. Our host was very nice and the food was great. It's a beautiful island with a great beach. We especially enjoyed our snorkeling trip where we got to swim with sharks!

  • Ma welcomed us; she is very friendly and helping. She is an amazing cook as well (love the spinach!!!) with fresh veggies. Vinaka for the everything

  • We had a great time at this home stay and were taken good care of by our nice host Ma! The food was really good and we were lucky to get to try lovo, twice! Ma helped us with arranging sunrise hike and shark snorkelling. It was an authentic and down to earth experience to stay in the village and this is something I definitely would recommend if you are looking for something else than the normal resort feeling. Thank you so much, would like to come back!

    Vilde2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing. They are really friendly and welcoming in the village. We did some paid activities like hiking (the view is absolutely amazing) and snorkeling with the sharks. Ma is lovely, she tooks care of us. The food was delicious and one thing is sure is that you won’t be starving here :) Thanks again for everything. We really had a nice stay. We recommend it.

    Justine2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived via transfer booked through homestay (easy to arrange) and had three nights. Ma and Solomon took great care of us- included us in village life and cooked us amazing meals throughout the day, including the traditional lovo on our last night. Villagers were friendly, welcoming and engaging. Nice place to connect with fellow travellers. The island is beautiful! Bucket shower, flush toilets and plenty of food. Enjoyed swimming with the sharks and a hike- all arranged through the homestay. Would recommend if you're looking to enjoy an authentic, engaging, welcoming Fijian village experience. Thanks so much Ma- you were awesome!!

Any where you like you can settle your camp, beach front or in the village or sunrise &sunset location.
    Peaceful surrounding,truly relaxing,friendly neighborhood.
  • We had a wonderful time at Wais and Ele's place. The house is located in the village close to the beach, you're living among the locals which is great. The food is correct and the shark swimming is a must do! Only con was that we didn't see Wais and Ele that much because of a family meeting on the mainland. Otherwise everything was great. Vinaka!

    Benjamin2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good stay at Wais & Ele, the family is very nice. The meals were very good (might just be less fried) and very affordable ! Few ants around and a small hole in the tent but it was all fine for us! The beach just nearby is not the nicest we experienced (no sand in the water, at low tide it is a bit hard to get in the water). Wais took us back to lautoka for 100$ each, a bit bumpy but not that much Good toilets. It was nice staying 2 nights! Would recommend

    Clément2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommended everyone to go to Wais and Ele place ! We had 4 amazing days there, the food is really good and cheap, and you always have something to do, and they are really nice as well ! Thanks for everything

    Clara2019-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Ele and Wais for 6 days in the tent and we had an amazing time. Their extended family and the whole village are extraordinarily welcoming and lovely people. Thank you for welcoming us to the family and the village. Joining the church service on Sunday is a special experience we can recommend. Ele surely is a good cook and she baked fresh breakfast every day. We would have loved to stay longer, make sure you stay at least a few days such that you have enough time to connect with the people. As the information on air b'n'b is not complete and some reviews are quite confusing we would like to list a few points to clarify some questions for future Travellers...: 1. there is 2 options for drinking water. a) rainwater tank next to the house. It is unfiltered but we drank this water for the first 3 days and were perfectly fine with it. b) they have a big barrel in the kitchen which is filled with water from the well. One of us was fine with it, the other one got some stomach trouble. But not bad. We suggest you give it a try whatever option is available at the time. If you can't have it, the store next door sells water for 4 fijidollar (1.5L) 2. there is solar power available to charge your devices but only during the day. There is 3 USB ports and one actual socket. 3. you will be rising early as there is drums, church services, roosters and happy kids from 4am on. However, we don't understand the complaints. Just go sleep early, there is nothing much to do aber 8pm and plenty of time to nap during the day. 4. the tent is not on the beach but next to their house and practically in the center of the village. It is awesome. You are in the middle of everything. 5. you can use the bathroom during the night as the door stays unlocked 6. if you take the flyer. Get off for naqalia lodge and tell people you want to go to the village homestay 7. cell reception is poor. We had vodafone. No reception in the village. Some reception on the beach. The right spot varies but usually more stable towards the resort. 8. if you have questions before you arrive give them a few days to reply.

    Karla2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The B&B can see that the year of operation is relatively long, the facilities are relatively perfect, especially the precious fresh water is prepared adequately, and the hostess’s meals are also quite delicious. Wais and Ele treat people with a warm and welcoming experience and make you feel at home!

    Chunxiao2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great home stay on in a tropical paradise. The tent and accommodations are basic but comfortable and authentic. Definitely go on the sunset hike! Our guide was their neighbor and he had tonnes of interesting facts and stories along the way. Wais & Ele will pick you up from the Yasawa ferry, or from Lautoka on their long boat. Be aware that no tours run on Sundays as it's their day of rest. I joined them in Sunday church which was a pretty cool experience. They can also arrange a kava ceremony for a small price. The meals were cheap and tastey. The "shower" consists of a drum of a water and a bucket :) There is a small "shop" next to their house with basic supplies, water and snacks, although its best to bring your own if you can. Also bring cash!

    Joey2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! Ele and her family were gracious and welcoming and the food was delicious and cheap. We spent our first night in the tent - it was a windy night and we didn't sleep so well, but Wais and Ele offered us a room in the house for our last two nights as there were no other guests staying. It was awesome to live in the village, it felt very authentic and getting woken by the choir on Sunday morning was incredible. The beach was mostly lovely (some piles of rubbish in places further down unfortunately), snorkelling was ok, a bit too choppy sometimes which made visibility poor but that could've just been our bad luck with the wind. We wish we had gone to visit the sharks, but we loved the hike up the mountain to watch the sunset instead. I really recommend visiting Wais and Ele with an open mind :) Vinaka guys!

    Kelly2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had the chance to stay for 4 nights there, and I had nothing but a wonderful time. The Island is a little paradise, The tent is spacious and fresh at night, the food was nice, the family absolutly lovely, the snorkelling at the beach is endless fun and the sunset on the mountain a total blast! I strongly recommend to stay with Wais and Ele, they'll look after you in the nicest fidjian way.
