Holiday houses in Ulladulla

Located three hours south of Sydney in New South Wales, the coastal town of Ulladulla has been an important fishing port since the mid-19th century and is well known for its deliciously fresh seafood and fishing opportunities. There is also a waterfront amusement park featuring interactive games and rides located in one convenient activity center which is perfect for families.

The area is popular for diving thanks to a number of reef dive sites sprinkled nearby. Jervis Bay, Ulladulla, and Brush Island are home to a wide variety of sea life such as eastern blue gropers, bleeker’s devil fish, and weedy sea dragons. This is also a well-known hiking destination due to the variety of national parks and nature reserves nearby such as the South Pacific Heathland Reserve and Burrill Lake that offer an array of hiking trails to accommodate different lengths and fitness levels.

With moderate weather year round, there is no bad time to visit Ulladulla. The summers are warm but can be a bit wet. Regardless, this is one of the busiest times of the year so it is wise to book holiday houses well in advance. The spring and autumn shoulder seasons are great times to visit as the weather is drier than the summer and still warm. This is the perfect time for outdoor activities like bushwalking as the trails will be less muddy. The winter is another busy period as the weather is the driest. Keep in mind that it can get a little chilly in the evening in July and August so it is a good idea to pack layers, especially if you are planning on spending a day trekking. There are also monthly Ulladulla Wharf Markets held throughout the year on the second Saturday of the month that showcase local produce, crafts, and artisanal stalls.

South Pacific Heathland Reserve

This sprawling 14-acre reserve is home to native flora and fauna of New South Wales, including some rare species like the glossy black cockatoo. The reserve is located on the headland between Racecourse Beach and Rennie’s Beach. There are viewing platforms located throughout the reserve where you can spot whales as they swim by as well as hiking and nature trails.

Ulladulla Harbour

Located in the center of Ulladulla, the harbour is well-known for its waterfront dining options where you can try some of the town’s famous seafood. This is also where many of the fishing charters leave from and you can usually see boats in the harbour. If you fancy a picnic, the lawn that sits aside the harbour is the ideal place to sit, rest, and eat.

Burrill Lake

Located just five kilometres from Ulladulla, Burrill Lake is a coastal village that is a popular place for anglers hoping to catch bream, flathead, or blackfish. The surrounding bushland and forests provide an excellent opportunity for bushwalking and the upper edges of the lake are perfect for sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and swimming. Visitors can even water ski their way around the lake, taking in the full beauty it has to offer.
