Our cosy Studio for 2 nestles on the edge of woodland, yet only 5 mins away from Shaftesbury in Dorset. Wake up to bird song, go for long walks right from the door step, explore many nearby attractions, enjoy a meal or drink on the private terrace. It is possible to have a third person staying. Please indicate 3 people when booking and we will make an airbed, bedding and towels available. There is a charge of £15 per night for a third person. Please be aware that the place is small!
This self contained, modern & comfortable studio annex as its own entrance with private terrace and outdoor space. The property sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty, nestled on the hillside on the edge of ancient woodland. The property is set in 1 acre of wildlife gardens in a quiet hamlet just 5 minutes drive from the historic hill town of Shaftesbury on the border between Dorset and Wiltshire. We are located about 1.5miles outside Shaftesbury in a small hamlet on the edge of the woods. The Studio has a very comfortable King size bed (5 feet wide and 6 feet 6 inches long – 150 x 198 cm), well equipped kitchenette, sitting & dining area, a quite small shower room with basin and toilet, and a walk-in wardrobe/storage. Ideal for walking holidays and short breaks. The studio is well located if you want to visit the End of the Road Festival or Larmer Tree Festival. The kitchenette is well equipped, including full size fridge with freezer compartment, oven with grill, 2 plate induction hob, kettle, toaster and extractor fan. The Studio is ideal for individual travellers, close friends or couples (we welcome all couples!). We're also happy to accommodate parents with babies, but you will need to bring your own cot. Please note that children need to be supervised in the garden! There is a 42" TV with Freesat and DVD player, free Wifi Internet connection (although this can sometimes be slow or disrupted because of our rural location - we can therefore not guarantee the internet service) and stereo speakers for plugging in your iPod or MP3 Player. A selections of DVDs, games and books are available. Outside is a picnic table. You can view the many different birds on the bird feeders, stroll around the wild gardens or sit in one of several quiet benches around the garden. Please note that we basically live in the woods, so there is no view from the Studio terrace. However, guests are welcome to stroll to the end of the garden and enjoy some views from the bench. There is a well stocked village store only 2 miles away in the village of Ludwell, a small grocery store at the petrol station 1 mile away. In Shaftesbury you will find a large Tesco superstore and a lovely town centre with interesting shops and cafés including some very nice food shops. There's a market on Thursday mornings. Shaftesbury is famous for its Gold Hill (from the Hovis Bread ad), it's Abbey, historic buildings and the amazing views across the Blackmore Vale. Salisbury is only 35mins drive to the east and Bath an hour north. An hours drive will also get you to some of the most stunning beaches of the Jurrasic Coast. We have created our house and the Studio as environmentally friendly as possible. We have solar panels to help heat the water and Solar PV to generate electricity. Rainwater is collected and feeds the toilets in the house. We use environmentally friendly cleaning materials and recycle and compost. Please help by separating your recyclables from normal household rubbish. The Studio is extremely well insulated and has central heating. Please note: both the central heating and hot water are heated by an air source heat pump. This is a very efficient and low energy system but works on low temperatures. Therefore please wait 10 minutes between showers, as there may otherwise not be enough hot water available. Similarly the central heating does work on low heat, therefore please don't expect the radiators to be piping hot. The temperature in the Studio should always be comfortable. If not, please let us know as the settings may need adjusting. What makes our place unique is the location. You will be right at the edge of the woods. Deer and badgers sometimes visit the garden and we have an abundance of different birds including Woodpeckers, Long Tail Tits, Jays, Song Thrushes and Bull Finches. You will find some wonderful walks (short and long) right on your doorstep. Yet we are only a 5 minute drive from Shaftesbury, Dorset which has an good selections of independent shops & cafés and a large Tesco. You can park free in Tesco carpark for 3 hours and walk into town from there. The Jurassic Coast (Poole, Studland, Weymouth) or Bath are within an hours drive. We run a non-smoking property, but you are welcome to smoke outside. Just leave your cigarette butts in the receptacle provided outside your entry door. We have a dog ourselves, so know how difficult it is to find accommodation that allows dogs. As the Studio is only a one-room accommodation, it is not suitable for large dogs. But if you do want to bring a small dog, please ask and we will consider it. A surcharge of £5 per night for bringing a dog applies. We also have a cat, Misty. She's basically an outdoor cat, but she likes to manipulate guests to let her into the Studio. You should know this if you're allergic to cats, as we cannot guarantee that the Studio doesn't contain allergens. Also if you do not want her in your room, just chuck her out and keep the windows open only a small gap at night, as otherwise you might receive an unwanted visitor.
My favourite thing about living here is that one can go on walks from 30 minutes to 3 hours through the most glorious country side and woodlands right from our door step. Guests always comment on how well they sleep here because it is so quite and how they like being woken up by bird song. You really are in the midst of nature, yet only a 5 minute drive away from Shaftesbury on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. You can walk into town if you wish. It will take you approximately 40-45 minutes through fields and woodland. Salisbury is a 40 mins and day-trips can be taken to Bath, Stourhead, Poole, Weymouth and the Jurassic Coast.
  • I enjoyed my few days away in the comfortable and peaceful space of the eco hideaway. It is beautifully put together, with modern fittings and views looking out on the garden. The town of Shaftesbury is close by, and I especially loved Park Walk. Gabriela and Neil are friendly and responsive hosts who I would highly recommend. Thank you again for a lovely stay!

Our lovely double height wood and stone barn directly opposite our house is found at the end of a long private drive in glorious countryside. A very comfortable 5ft bed, woodburning stove and lovely views, a perfect relaxing and cosy retreat. Easy access to lots of interesting places. Guests can play tennis and croquet. The Barn sleeps two adults. Ample parking directly next to Barn. Please note the Barn is not suitable for children. NB There are no shops or pubs within walking distance.
The Barn is set at the end of a long drive, well away from any road, in a private 33 acre estate, no noise, no light pollution, just peace and quiet. Although directly opposite the main house, it is quite private. High ceilings, french windows with country views, kingsize double bed (on mezzanine accessed by quite steep stairs), wood burning stove, oak dining table with candles, WIFI (not super fast or that strong), TV DVD player - everything you need for a comfortable weekend or longer stay. It is not a hi-tech/spec barn but it is comfy and in a beautiful setting. Parking directly next to the Barn. Well situated for visits to Bath, Salisbury, the Jurassic Coast, Gold Hill, the new Hauser & Wirth gallery/restaurant in Bruton, Longleat, and much more. Fantastic walking and cycling country. Adjacent to Copse View alpaca walking as seen on Countryfile! One king bed on the mezzanine level in the Barn. Shower with constant hot water. Private BBQ area Tennis Court Croquet Lawn Clay pigeon shooting (extra cost) We are happy to collect guests from nearby railway station at Gillingham, Dorset (where there is Waitrose/Lidl/Asda). Bear in mind nearest pub would then be 30 mins walk. Beautiful unspoilt countryside - watch the deer and buzzards from the windows - and lots of good pubs nearby. Excellent access to lots of lovely places - Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Stourhead, Jurassic Coast. Bed made up with 100% Egyptian cotton linen, towels provided. Gas rings, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine. NB The steps to mezzanine are quite steep. No bath, only a shower. NB There is wifi but being in the country it is not strong enough to download movies etc
  • The barn is a lovely space in a great location and with fabulous facilities. We spent our weekend hiding away from 'Storm Dennis' and the wood burner and full kitchen made all the difference. We'd have no hesitation in recommending to future guests and we'll definitely be returning. Many thanks Cara.

  • Super space. Lovely wood burner. Peaceful and quiet.

  • We had a wonderful time here. Great location and welcoming hosts.

    Anna2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A place of ultimate relaxation and switch off. We had a wonderful time at Cara’s barn, and would definitely recommend a visit!

    Joan2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet location. Chance to spot wildlife if you're interested, e.g. rabbits, birds, deer. Reccomend to bring wellies/boots to enjoy the surrounding fields despite wet weather

    Jarrett2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Wonderful barn conversion. Beautifully renovated and with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend.

    Cavell2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t recommend the barn highly enough! What a delightful space to get some peace and quiet. It’s beautiful and secluded and basically a perfect base for exploring an awesome corner of England. Make sure to take advantage of the wood burning stove and if you’re into it - the clay pigeon shooting on offer. It’s tricky but so much fun (after all there really aren’t enough places on Airbnb that give you access to a shotgun)

    Shaftesbury, England, United Kingdom

Wise Cottage is a 250 year old cottage with a boutique feel and sweeping views situated in a beautiful village near Shaftesbury, Dorset. The cottage sleeps four, 1 large master bedroom with a super kingsize bed and a small bedroom with adult bunks (plus a guest bed for a fifth guest). Well behaved dogs are welcome! Organic toiletries, bath robes, well equipped kitchen, wood burner, super fast Wifi, garden, beautiful walks straight out of the front door, use of local tennis club.
** Covid 19 update** We understand the concern you may have about a holiday now and the closure of pubs and restaurants. What we can say is that most of the wonderful eateries around us are offering a take away service, some of them with free delivery, and so you can enjoy restaurant quality food at home, or eaten in the garden (big table and benches). We have added some of our favourites in the 'other things to note' section. There are many National Trust places around us that are open and some are waiving entry fees. Wonderful walks straight out of the front door as well of course. There is a large sitting room with oak dining table and contemporary chairs, a well fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The main bedroom has an upholstered Super kingsize bed with Vi Spring mattress, high quality microfibre duvets and bed linens. The second bedroom has full size bunk beds. Polished wooden floors, Roger Oates runners, sisal flooring and soft Moroccan rugs make up the flooring in the cottage. The bathroom has a pressurised shower and bath. Plenty of towels are provided as well as an organic soaps and shampoo range. The bathroom is situated downstairs opposite the kitchen. The garden is situated up steps from the cottage, it is probably not easily accessed by anyone disabled or infirm. It is a cottage garden, not highly manicured but with wonderful views in every direction. A table and chairs and a barbecue and tongs are also provided. There is a side access to the garden and it is fenced, so will contain a not overly ambitious dog. There is complimentary use of local tennis courts at Pythouse Club, about a two mile drive from the cottage. Please bring your own raquets and balls! Wonderful Pythouse Walled Garden is minutes from the courts for coffees and lunches. The cottage has a Samsung 32" smart TV with all the catch up services as well as Netflix and Amazon, super fast broad band, a small office with desk. Mobile reception is good, but patchy in the downstairs rooms. There is a wood burner and kindling/logs for the first night or two (bags of logs and kindling are sold at the shop a few yards from the cottage), iPod dock, Roberts radio, smart TV, towels, high quality linen and bathrobes. The kitchen is fully equipped with all china and cutlery, pans, casserole dishes, salad bowls, a Nespresso coffee maker (with coffee capsules!) and there is a supply of tea bags, coffee, sugar, olive oil, flour, herbs and salt and pepper to start you off. We always leave a breakfast pack of fresh local bread, home made jam, butter and milk. A folding guest bed can be put up in the sitting room or master bedroom for a fifth person which is fine for a night or two, but unless a young child, it is not ideally suited for five people.
The cottage is set in the beautiful village of East Knoyle (birthplace of Sir Christopher Wren) on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, amid rolling scenery. The village has an award winning community shop (a few yards from the cottage) and an excellent pub, as well as a playground and endless footpaths through fields and woods for dog walking. You will have guest membership of our local tennis club at Pythouse, a couple of miles from the cottage. If you wish to explore the West Country there are few better places to be situated. The Georgian city of Bath is 20 miles away, Salisbury 17 miles, the hilltop town of Shaftesbury with it's famous monastery ruins and Gold Hill is 4 miles and the Jurassic coast an hour's drive. Longleat and Centre Parks is only 8 miles away. There are numerous stately homes (Longleat being the most famous), castles and gardens within easy striking distance, some a couple of miles from the cottage and superb gastro pubs and restaurants nearby. There is plenty of information in the cottage and suggestions of where to visit, where to eat and where to shop. Just an hour away is the New Forest which is great to explore on foot or by bike. There are maps in the house and you can rent bikes at the wonderfully helpful Forest Leisure Cycling in Burley where there are also loads of cafes, pubs & shops. Flying Experiences at Compton Abbas Airfield - from flying in vintage aircraft and driving classic cars to the airfield for champagne lunch... and flying lessons. Dorset Art Weeks: For two weeks every year (Typically end of May & beginning June) Artists all over Dorset open up their homes and studios to visitors to browse their work, learn about their techniques and inspiration and purchase direct from the artists themselves. There are also two extraordinary contemporary galleries with excellent cafes/restaurants nearby - Messums in Tisbury and Hauser and Wirth in Bruton - both definitely worth a visit.
  • A warm cosy cottage in a great location with a wonderful local village shop

  • First stay in this delightful cottage and it didn’t disappoint. The lovely little additions of a welcome pack were wonderful and we also appreciated the Complementary shower gel, hand wash and hand cream. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage and certainly want to return again. It was the perfect break just what we were looking for

A self contained hilltop retreat with stunning panoramic rural views. The Pink Tower is a wooden octagonal building attached to the owners cottage on a working farm (pigs, sheep, arable). Set a quarter of a mile along the ancient OxDrove renowned for beautiful walks, it is situated right on the borders of Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.
Light, airy living area and kitchen is located on the top floor with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Private entrance gate off the track leads into a small enclosed garden with gravel areas and flower beds. Two wooden steps lead onto decking and the property's own front door.
  • A unique and special place with amazing design. Linda is a lovely host. Waking up to nothing but birdsong on Sunday morning was wonderful. This is a superb location, close to several historical sites, walks, lovely restaurants and pubs...a gem.

    Kiran2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few nights at the Pink Tower. Found it difficult to find but it was very dark when we arrived! The place was very clean and Linda was very helpful. The tower is about 20 mins drive from anything but this was fine for us. Overall very cosy..bed was especially cosy and not built for anyone over 6 foot! Hopefully we will be able to return one day.

  • Pink Tower was absolutely delightful for a very relaxing weekend. It has everything we needed as we had decided to have a self catering weekend. However our host Linda also recommended local pubs to eat to help us anyway. Very quiet location so very peaceful. Only 20 mins from Salisbury. Would definitely book again. Thank you Linda.

Our modern Eco Pod is set in it's own secluded wildlife garden area, giving a true nature experience with all the comforts for 2 people. Only 5 mins drive from Shaftesbury, Dorset, and 50 minutes from the Jurassic Coast. Superb country walks! It's normally set up with a king size bed. The Pod is tiny. Think of it as a two berth wooden caravan. It really just has the large bed, there is no table on the inside, but a small kitchen area with sink and hob.
The Pod is a small compact space built as an airtight structure that self regulates temperature and therefore is very comfortable. It's ideal for couples, close friends or one parent and child. It features a large bed (1.80m x 2.20) under a sloping ceiling, a small kitchenette with 2 burner hob and sink with hot & cold water. Please note that there is no table inside. There is literally just the bed and kitchenette. The kitchen is equipped with all essentials including kettle and toaster. You will also find Organic English Breakfast Tea, Organic Coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. There is decking on the outside which gets sunshine most of the day (when the sun shines). A few steps up is a Gazebo with a table and 2 chairs. This is a great space to have an al-fresco meal and watch the wildlife around the pond. There is a small cubicle with a compost toilet inside the Pod. Some people have commented that it is too small for a tall person to have the door closed. Please keep this in mind. Guests also have use of the separate unheated shower shed with hot water. Please note that during the Winter and early Spring the shower shed is not operating. In that case guests are welcome to use the shower in the main house. There is a summer house that houses a fridge freezer, a small oven, two camping chairs and space to store luggage or wet clothing/shoes. The Pod sits in it's own part of the garden, with 2 wildlife ponds. This creates a lovely, secluded garden area for our guests. You basically have your own little wildlife patch here. Ducks often visit the pond early in the morning. Look out for deer, badgers and pheasants. Because of the ponds our grounds are not suitable for small children.
The Pod is located in a small hamlet 1.5miles outside Shaftesbury, Dorset on the edge of ancient woodland. This is a quiet area and the most you will hear is the occasional dog barking, lawnmower or strimmer. However, don't be surprised to be woken by birdsong and to hear owls and other creatures at night. The local village store 'Ludwell Store and Postoffice' is approximately 1.5miles away and can be reached by foot, car or bicycle. The nearest pub is half a mile and the nearest supermarket 1.5 miles.
  • Kind hosts helped me out with a bit of olive oil to fry my supper!

  • Really thoughtful space, great for a quick getaway. Our hosts were lovely and very approachable!

    Yem2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The pod is really lovely and relaxing! The bed is really big and I had reservations about the compost toilet but it was actually really good!

    Saskia2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to escape into nature, the gorgeous secluded pod was just perfect for our requirements with the added benefit that it was completely eco friendly! We visited Stonehenge and Bath while we were there, only 40 mins and an hour respectively and also took a short trip to Salisbury and Shaftesbury, there is some wonderful culture and history surrounding this area. The pod itself was compact but still completely liveable for the 5 days we were there with a kitchenette in the pod and a fridge and shower just on the other side of the garden. We were most surprised with how warm it was without any heating, especially if you cook in there. The compost toilet was not as scary as we first thought and we got used to it very quickly, as long as your comfortable with hearing the other person going to the loo as it’s inside the pod! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it if your wanting to completely switch off and be in nature:)

    Jody2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The pod is in a very secluded part of the property near two ponds. It is a lovely wild garden with lots of natural wildlife. We both had a lovely time and felt very at home at the pod. The pod itself is very clean and well thought out and it feels very cosy to sit there and watch the natural world around you.

  • Lovely stay for a long weekend!

  • We had another fantastic stay in this wonderful cottage. The scenery is outstanding, and Mary-Anne is an amazing host who always balances being warm and welcoming with giving guests their privacy. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax and unwind, and we hope to be even more frequent visitors in 2020!

    Caroline2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy modern property with stunning views. So peaceful. Lovely wood burner. Make sure you visit Pythouse Kitchen Garden & Cafe just 10 minutes drive away. Mary-Anne was a great host.

  • We stayed here for a short pre-Christmas break with our 2 children and 2 small dogs. The location is stunning and with the open fields right to the back of the property we were perfectly content there for 4 days with lots of walks and 'cosying' up in front of the log burner. Mary-Anne was a great host, making sure we had what we needed, we will definitely be staying here again. Thanks! :)

  • We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. This was our second visit, but this time with 2 adults and 2 kids. The cottage is great. It's set in countryside and gardens with roaming sheep. The bedrooms overlooks the fields and the panoramic views are amazing. The cottage is very well laid out, and ample space for a family of four, with 2 bedrooms a bathroom and an open plan kitchen and Lounge. I couldn't fault this cottage.

    Darren2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely cottage! We were lucky enough to experience some gorgeous crisp clear winter days in order to thoroughly enjoy the setting of this place and it’s incredible views!!! The cottage was an amazing, clean and homely space for three ‘friends of old’ to reconnect in the evenings after Christmas market exploring during the day! Thank you Mary-Anne for all the helpful information and lovely touches provided before and during our stay (and in particular the replenished firewood, which was very much appreciated!!) Highly recommend!

  • We stayed atJudi's place for 3 nights in February and had an absolutely amazing time. Despite of not the best weather the place provided everythig we wanted, piece, tranquility and outstanding views from the house. Judi welcomed us with a delicious lemon cake and lots of tips on what to do in the area. The place is very cosy and looks even better than on photos. View from the property is outstanding and you can enjoy it over a nice breakfast from the kitchen area or a glass of wine from the living room :) Car is definitely needed. There is a small local shop in 2 mins drive but the selection is limited. If you want to do bigger shopping you need to go to town (10 min). There are lots of nice walks around so you can explore nature and relax. Overall wonderful experience and highly recommended. Thank you Judi and Andre for your hospitality.

  • What a wonderful five-night stay we had at the Beehouse! We were met by Judi, who showed us around and provided lots of information about Semley and surrounds. The Beehouse is comfortable and spacious, with everything a family on holiday needs, including board games and children’s books. The bungalow has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nicely appointed kitchen, dining room, spacious lounge and a fabulous outdoor area, which would be perfect in summer. Everything worked as it should, including flawless wi-fi. The Beehouse is surrounded by nature and silence - just wonderful! We spotted pheasants wandering about each morning. The bungalow is a mile or so from Semley village - a really lovely walk. Do visit the local cafe and the dairy. We walked to the Donheads (two local villages) along quiet country lanes (you could take walking tracks but in winter they are very muddy). There is a big Tesco in Shaftesbury (and other supermarkets) for your shopping needs. Finally, the Beehouse is perfectly located for drives further afield, for instance only 30 miles or so from Stonehenge. If you have time, consider walking to Stonehenge from Woodhenge, following the National Trust designated walk. It was an absolute highlight of our holiday.

  • This is fantastic place with all needed facilities/amenities (and more) and breathtaking views! Location is also great! Judi is an amazing host, quick responder, kind and easy to communicate with. She even left milk and a home made cake to welcome us! We travelled with our 3 month old baby and he slept very well in the cot provided. We shall come back!

Cosy and private well-equipped loft space in a rural setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historic sites, excellent walking routes and countless country pubs are easily accessible. This warm, comfortable and stylishly decorated studio guest suite, with a separate entrance, sits above a detached garage looking up towards the family home. The house is in a tranquil 4 acre plot with fields and a barn and lovely views from your personal raised sundeck.
Come and go as you please via the private terrace - also great for breakfasts or sundowners al fresco - with parking space underneath. There is a small anteroom for coats and boots, also the home of the kitchenette, which opens through to the main space. There’s a double bed, table, sitting area and modern bathroom with shower. In the ‘ kitchenette area’, you have the use of a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine, small fridge, kettle, microwave and mini electric oven. There is no hob or sink so it's only suitable for breakfast and snacks.
Tisbury is just 10 minutes off the A303, and once you are here local towns are within easy access. You are 15 minutes from Shaftesbury, home of the famous Gold Hill, and 20 minutes’ drive from Salisbury where you can see Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the 123m cathedral spire, particularly famous in Russia. Tisbury station is also on the main south-west trainline from London to Exeter.
  • Great little place for a stay if you’re looking for a break from the city. Clean, warm, private with good facilities. Felt like a home from home. Helen was super responsive and answered any questions we have. Great break

In beautiful countryside, this is a newly built cottage on the site of our old Tractor Shed close to our farmyard. Comfortable & cosy. Wander around our farm & garden. Excellent local pubs. Watch the stars. Fantastic place to chill. Organic farm and we sell our own grass fed Red Poll beef and eggs from our wandering chickens.
A modern rebuild of our old Tractor Shed on our organic farm, deep in the county of Wiltshire and near to Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath and the south coast. If you like the countryside, you will like it here! There's lots to do tourist wise in the area and fantastic walks nearby through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (official designation!). The accommodation is very comfortable with a 5 foot double bed, ensuite shower room, living room with kitchen area and outside terrace. It has underfloor central heating so is cosy throughout the winter. We have a herd of Red Poll cattle here and chickens roam freely in our fields, barns and woodland. If you like fishing, we have our own trout lake for your use at an extra charge of £30 per half day. If you are part of a bigger party than 2 people, we also have a 3 double bedroomed apartement and another 1 bedroomed one in our lovely garden. We also have bed and breakfast in our 17th century farmhouse. We are busy with the farm and animals but enjoy welcoming guests to this magical spot. If you want to eat out, there are several excellent pub restaurants within 5 miles and Shaftesbury with its many eating places and markets is just 6 miles away. Unfortunately, being right out in the countryside means you need your own transport though there is a main line from London train station at Tisbury 3 miles away.
Cools Farm is in the depths of the Wiltshire countryside. Lots of people pass down to the West Country on the A303 and miss out on this beautiful area. Yet, we are very accessible 4 miles south of A303 and 3 miles from mainline station at Tisbury. We love looking after our cattle and living in a lovely C17th stone farmhouse. We enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with interesting guests.
  • Comfortable stay, beautiful location - very happy here!

  • Lovely quaint accommodation, everything you need for a few days away . The Lamb ( Hindon ) was very good for food . Lovely to hear the cows and cockerel in the mornings . Would definitely stay again

    Tracey2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying at Cools Farm for a wedding. The bed was extremely comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped (we bought two steaks from the farm for dinner one evening) and Maggie was very helpful, lending us an iron when we needed one. I recommend paying extra for breakfast - it was delicious.

    Hannah2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended for the peace and quiet. The mattress is extremely comfortable. It's a perfect base for visiting the area. We would definitely stay again.

The house is a striking property between the railway and the river and a minutes walk from the lovely high street of Tisbury. A former railway hotel, the house has bags of character with bright rooms and high ceilings. The double bedroom is comfortable and light with a King size bed and right next to the bathroom for your convenience. We are still in the midst of renovations but this will have no impact on your stay. You will love the location, the quiet and the green spaces on our doorstep.
The bedroom is at the back of the House and we sleep at the front so you will have lots of privacy. Although we are quite close to the railway there are only two trains an hour and they stop about 11pm. We really don't notice them only sometimes when a vintage steam engine thunders past but that is very very rare. If you open your window you will hear the river down below the house and on a Saturday the muffled shouts of football players in the field on the other side of the river but that is about as noisy as it gets. It really is very peaceful. If there is more in your party than two I have another room listed which I only let to friends travelling together as they have to share the bathroom with you. Let me know if you are interested in also booking the adjoining double room and I will unblock it.
If you are planning to come to Tisbury by train for a weekend wedding or just an overnighter we couldn't be in a more convenient location. Lots of local sights like Messums Art Gallery are within walking distance and Tisbury High Street has a lovely Cafe called Beaton's and a great wine bar/shop called the Bottle Shop. There is also a convenient small Co op and a Boots and the rest are all interesting independent shops including a deli. There are some super places to eat within a five mile radius like The Beckford Inn, Pitt House and Howards House Hotel but a car will be needed (or bike) and reservations advised. If you want to visit Salisbury we are twenty minutes away by train and as the House is so close to the station it couldn't be easier. If you want to you can pick up a coach at Salisbury station to visit Stone Henge, again very convenient and easy. We are just eleven miles from the historic town of Shaftesbury which is always worth a visit and if you want to explore North Dorset and Hardy country that is all within a short driving distance.
  • This is a great place to stay, I have stayed here 4 times since September last year, which is in itself a recommendation. Each time I have been made so welcome by Julie-Ann & George. Though compact Tisbury is a great place for finding delicious or useful and beautiful things. I can recommend Genius Coffee & Beaton’s for food and drinks (the home cooked mini croissant delivered from the oven at Genius on Saturday morning were fantastic!). And excellent locally roasted coffee too. Tisbury Deli is great for different cheeses and other nice things to eat and you can buy a beautiful hand thrown pottery plate to eat them from just a step away from the Deli! I can also recommend a visit to Messums in Wiltshire tithe barn gallery, and the café there is certainly up to the standard of the other places to eat and drink!

The room is an airy attic room with a comfy double bed and hanging space and a view over the village to the countryside. The bathroom is shared with the host.
The room is at the top of the house (2 flights up) with fairly steep stairs but good handrails. Please note that the bathroom/shower is one floor down. There is a good provision of essentials (including things you may have forgotten) and there are tea and coffee making facilities. A small selection of crockery/cutlery and glassware is also provided ....including a bottle opener/corkscrew. The table is a good size for either working or dining. There is also a small ironing board and iron, hairdryer, chargers and fan. The house is approximately 5mins from the High Street with a good selection of shops and eating places. This is a cat friendly house but they do not have access to the upper floors.
Tisbury is a wonderful village with plenty of shops and a prestigious gallery. In the summer months we have an open air pool which is a short walk away. It is well placed for exploring many historic sites and houses and only 17miles from Salisbury and 50mins from the nearest coastline.

  • The attic room is very cozy and well organised. It has everything you need with even a board game, a music box to connect with your mobile and funny books. Tracy took care for some cute details like a poem of the day and cups for a warm drink-on-the-go. The room is silent, Tisbury is picturesque and quiet with enough places to eat and shop. Tracy was so attentive to check in advance which restaurants were open. We had a nice dinner at The Boot Inn. Shortly: we felt welcome and at home

Newly fitted out to a high standard. Kitchenette, wet room with WC, living room/diner and bedroom with double bed, perfect for a couple or lone traveller. Please note ceilings are low on one side of building with kitchen and wet room. The Saxon hill top town is within 15 minutes walking distance with the famous Gold Hill, Abby Ruins and Park Walk with stunning views over the Blackmore Vale. Off road private parking in carport. On main routes in and out of town. Some traffic noise.
Formally a double garage converted into a comfortable self contained living space with everything you’ll need for a pleasurable stay. Private from the main house with covered parking right outside the front door.
We are walking distance from the small but vibrant high street of Shaftesbury. The town has monthly markets and a great fringe festival in the summer months.
  • We had a lovely weekend stay here. The space is clean, cosy, and well kitted out for its size. Only one note I would add is the ceilings are quite low so you might find yourself ducking if you're a giant like myself, should be fine for all normal sized people though! Would recommend the place to others.

An exquisite, newly decorated bedroom, overlooking our apple tree (you are welcome to pick and eat fresh apples from this tree when they are in season). The room has its own private entrance and secluded sunny courtyard so you will have total privacy from the rest of the house. You are also welcome to use our ‘snug’, complete with wood burning stove (for cosy winter nights) during your stay. We do use this room ourselves but will ensure that we vacate during your stay.
The room is a beautiful, newly decorated room with lovely white washed beams throughout and a high spec en-suite. Tea and coffee making facilities are available and freshly baked croissants will be on offer in the morning. In summer time, you have private use of a sunny courtyard, complete with beautiful flowers. In autumn you are welcome to pick as many apples as you would like to take home with you. In winter, we welcome you to use our snug, complete with log burning stove (please note, we do also use this room on occasion but will vacate completely to give you absolute privacy during your stay).
We live in a Chilmark, an exceptionally beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have some of the clearest views of the stars in the whole of the UK (one of only 14 ‘Dark Sky Reserves’ worldwide). The house is situated on a very quiet street, offering you a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of life. The village itself has a super pub, the Black Dog and the well renowned ‘Beckford’ and ‘Compasses at Chickgrove’ are a short drive (or leisurely stroll with breathtaking views) away. Pythouse, with its garden kitchen is another fabulous spot for coffee, cake or dinner. You will be spoilt for eating choice. We are happy to provide you with suggested walking routes and other top tips to help make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Just ask. We are just a few minutes drive from the A303 so offer easy access from London and the West. The historic city of Salisbury is just a short drive away with its bustling market and world famous cathedral spire. Likewise, Shaftesbury (with its Saxon roots and famous Gold Hill) sits on our doorstep. Tisbury is 4 minutes drive away and offers a range of local amenities as well as a wine bar, delicatessen and two coffee shops. Tisbury also offers direct rail links to London Waterloo. We hope you love our home and local area as much as we do!
  • We had a great stay with Ali and Ed. They were both very friendly and provided us with good recommendations for places to eat / visit. The room was nice and comfortable and it was great having access to the snug aswell. Breakfast was tasty. We would definitely recommend.

  • I can't pick what I loved the most - the stylish decor (love the paint colour), the incredibly comfortable bed, the rain shower, the total peace and quiet or the great hospitality in general (thanks for the lovely breakfast!) I would wholeheartedly recommend this place and indeed this corner of Wiltshire - Chilmark is a charming traditional village. Absolutely top marks.

    Elizabeth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here! perfect location for our stopover from London on route to Cornwall. the space is gorgeous, well decorated and had everything we needed. breakfast was perfect and the extra little lounge space and tv we used was an added bonus. We would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return soon!

    Sophie2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this for my mother and step father rather than us staying but they got lost getting there and Ali and her husband went out of their way to find them, locate them and guide them in. They looked after them beautifully, had the fire on, made sure they were settled and generally took better care than I could ever have wished for two people in their late 80's. I am advised the room was beautiful, immaculately clean, the bed was comfy and wrapped them in a soft mattress and beautiful thick duvet. They were looked after very well, over and above expectations and very gratefully after them getting lost in the dark (their fault, not the host). Breakfast was delicious apparently and they will be back (if Ali will have them!)

    Alison2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very smart, well-presented and comfy rooms indeed. Very warm welcome from Ali and her family and very easy and prompt communications in the run up. Spankingly clean and very cosy on a cold, blustery night. Could not have been better looked after.

  • Louis was a great host. The place was well furnished and in a great location. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

  • Lovely flat, very clean and all appliances that you would need. Lovely courtyard garden and peaceful environment.

    Sonia2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Louis is very helpful and met us on arrival. The Retreat was very clean and comfortable and is well located for Shaftesbury and the Wiltshire villages. Very much enjoyed our stay

    Peter2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, as other have said- don't underestimate the steps. Getting your stuff down is easy but dragging it back up again was more difficult. Nice to have an oven and washing machine to use should we of needed too and a fridge! Fully read the directions from Louis, took us about 4 attempts going up and down the road continually turning around to find the turning. The image on Google maps is a lie haha other than that absolutely beautiful!!

    Ruby2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Retreat was a perfect find for us as a base to explore the area a little on a short break. Louis was a very welcoming host and his set up has been very thoughtfully put together, providing home from home comforts. We certainly hope to return again!

    David2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • What’s a place, where to start... Louis welcomed us in person and showed us the accommodation, the communication was perfect from the start to the end. You’ll be amazed by the driveway and the garden, and nothing can beat the view!!! We’ve enjoyed our stay so much, the cat Jess and the dog Dora have shown us the best hospitality in Dorset!! We enjoyed playing with them before going for our adventure! The location is perfect if you want to explore Dorset and Wiltshire! There are a few lovely pubs around, we have tried The Grove Arms where they do yummy food in big portions! The accommodation itself is clean and comfortable, Louis even provided a welcome pack! Thank you Louis for our lovely stay!! Highly recommended this place to anyone who would like to explore the beautiful surroundings!!

    Mathew2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed self contained accomodation. Beautifully clean and lovely garden to enjoy.

    Rebecca2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb experience! We were impressed. Spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and a lovely welcome pack. There are a few steps to apartment but they're not too steep and there are handrails. The little courtyard off the bedroom is cute and when the sun is shining it's lovely to sit there with a cuppa! Louis's garden is very pretty with beautiful views. Ah and Louis's little dog is very sweet and incredibly well behaved.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Libby’s apartment! The location was beautiful and the apartment itself was very cosy! Will definitely be returning in the future.

  • An amazing space and an idillic location.

    Rebecca2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Libby's place is way better than the photos show. It is more of a house (or a townhouse) than an apartment. It has it's own separate entrance (the view from the front door looks straight out over the rolling hills of the countryside) and a private garden that is manicured and maintained to perfection. The space itself is an incredible combination of modern amenities in a very stylish country loft. Libby and Angus are outstanding hosts!

    Matt2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A stylish and spacious place to stay offering fantastic views of the surrounding countryside with some nice walks too. Angus, who met us, was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved our stay here.

  • Sarah’s place was one of the loveliest Airbnb homes I have visited. She was so thoughtful and had everything we needed. The breakfast was freshly prepared, excellent, and showed a local touch. I highly recommend Wingmore for anyone visiting Stonehenge and surrounding attractions, or just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Studio (sleeps 2-4) in converted barn in the Wiltshire countryside near the village of Tisbury. The barn is in a (rarely-used!) stable yard at the end of our garden, and is clean, quiet, and modern. It comprises one very large room with a king-size double bed and two comfortable pull-out single sofa beds. There is a separate kitchenette and shower room, and garden access right outside the door. We’re a short walk from a lovely pub, and it’s one mile to the village and its railway station.
The main room in the barn has beds, comfy sofas, space to exercise (including yoga mats and exercise bikes), a pool and table tennis table that fold away, and a projector for watching our big DVD collection. The separate kitchenette has a table that seats 4, with a two-ring hob, small fridge, Nespresso machine, and a combi microwave. The shower room has a power shower, WC, basin. Right outside the door are fields and a garden, and you can use a section of our garden if you want to sit outside in the sun! There’s lots of parking space and the barn is totally private and out of sight of other houses. There is very good mobile signal and a wifi router.
We are a five minute drive from Tisbury, 20 minutes from Shaftesbury, and 30 minutes from Wilton and Salisbury. In Tisbury there is a train station with a direct line to London Waterloo. We’re also a 30 minute drive to Stonehenge. Tisbury is a wonderful village with a world-famous modern art gallery, Messums, as well as several good shops, cafes, and pubs. Old Wardour Castle is a 10-minute drive away and is an amazing local sight. Salisbury is an old market town, home to a medieval cathedral and lots of shopping and restaurants. There are beautiful walks around the local area starting right from the door, and we’ll leave a map in the barn for you.
  • Susie and her family were extremely welcoming and very knowledgable about the area. We had a fantastic time in the large studio, which is just perfect for enjoying the countryside and curling up with a good book at the same time. Thoughtful touches like a projector and excellent music system make it an amazing spot to get away from the hustle of the city. Would definitely recommend!

    Varun2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, big and very light space with pretty views of gardens. You can walk a beautiful footpath to Tisbury from the grounds. Susie and her husband were very kind.

  • Susie is a wonderful host. We were met at the property, she gave us tips on things to see and things to avoid as well as recommendations for places to eat and nice walks. Their studio is spacious, clean, bright and very comfortable. It's in a quiet location with beautiful views and very near to a gorgeous village with great amenities. We would happily go back again and again.

    Georgia2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Susie's place, it was in a beautiful location and the bed in particular was very comfortable! We wish we could have stayed longer.

    Kelly2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susie was an excellent host and was happy to cater to some last minute changes to our reservation. The apartment itself was fantastic, and we spacious and stylish, and is set amongst a beautiful country property.

    Stuart2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Susie's wonderful retreat. The surroundings are peaceful and charming, the studio is spacious and comfortable and Susie and Nick were fantastic hosts - making our stay totally seamless and hassle-free. 100% would recommend.

A tranquil place in beautiful countryside. This Shepherds Hut, in its own garden, is overlooking a meadow. Designed for relaxation, many quirky furnishings are made by the craftsman owners. This rural region is an under-appreciated delight. Ideal for walking, cycling, painting, historic houses, gardens, Messums Gallery and Wardour castle. Wonderful selection of pubs locally, a choice for each night’s stay. Breakfast is laid out in the orangery, all home made (told it is “scoffable”).
Introducing our shepherds hut, with full size double bed, wood burning stove, writing desk and chairs, facing the morning sun. A step away, find the spectacular glass roof shower, a further step to the well appointed loo with a view. The orangery nearby is for your use in the evenings. Home-made breakfast is laid out there in the morning. See the facebook page - Duck House and North Cottage Crafts for more photos and information
we are in the Cranborne Area Outstanding Natural Beauty , a quiet rural valley a short distance from Tisbury village and close to the A30 and A303, between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. International Dark Sky Reserve. Good area for walking and painting, wide selection of historic houses and gardens as well as places of interest Close by there is a different type pub of every day of the week
  • This is an incredibly charming, quirky and beautiful place to stay, unlike anywhere else we've ever been. It's certainly much more than just a shepherd's hut – the accommodation is compartmentalised into different rooms that are all accessed from the outside – a summer house with a log burner that serves as a living room, dining room and kitchen; a beautifully cosy toilet, an amazing shower with a glass roof and then the fantastic duck house itself. There are many wonderful touches – beautiful pieces of design, careful attention to detail, and an amazing garden full of interesting art. The bed is very comfortable and the wood burner in the hut kept us cosy on a cool October night. The homemade breakfast was delicious. Robert and Jaci were very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them and stay in this unique and magical place. The local area is peaceful but with plenty of interesting things to see and do – there's the ruins at Wardour castle, a remarkable art gallery at Messums just a mile away and two fabulous local pubs – the Beckford Arms and the Compasses Inn very close by. For a relaxing weekend break, I don't think you could do much better in England.

    Kevin2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Duck House. It was beautiful and sparkly clean. We loved the cookies you left for us and the toasty fire .We enjoyed finding our breakfast in the hamper, it was amazing. The area was lovely and we enjoyed some fantastic cuisine in the local pubs and restaurants. Thanks for all the local knowledge as well.

    Sophie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the experience of staying at the Duck Hut (the hut itself, the friendly dogs, the beautiful location, the incredible gardens and the fantastic and incredibly welcoming hospitality of Robert and Jacqueline) were above and beyond what we had expected! The photographs genuinely do not do the hut, the amenities or the garden setting justice. The only way to truly understand how magical this place is is to visit and experience it. The gardens surrounding the hut are far more incredible and extension that can be imagined by viewing the photographs. Every single detail has been thought of and accounted for. The Duck Hut itself is very private (at the opposite end of very extensive gardens from the main house, through a labyrinth of gardens, through a private gate and down a path). The general location is pure idyllic Wiltshire countryside. Jacqueline and Robert are the perfect hosts. They are both incredibly kind, warm and welcoming people who make sure that every aspect of your stay is incredibly relaxing and tranquil. For anyone looking for the perfect weekend experience in the Wilthsire countryside, this is it.

    Matt2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly wonderful stay with Jacqueline and Robert and are already looking forward to returning! The hut is so well done, the shower room and toilet so warm and well thought out, the garden room is a delight and the breakfast offering truly delicious! There is so much on offer in the local surrounds. You wont be disappointed! Book now!

  • Wow! A fabulous set up with beautiful countryside views. Secluded section of the garden with peace and privacy. Heated flooring in both the outside separate toilet and shower with glass roof! Thank you to our lovely hosts for greeting us and providing cake on arrival as well as a very tasty selection of homemade breakfast! Great recommendation of local gastro pubs 20minute walking distance away. Will definitely be returning!!

  • We had the most spectacular stay at the Duck House. Our hosts Robert and Jacqueline were super lovely, and it really was a truly stunning corner of heaven! The views were amazing, the garden beautiful, and the plant-filled conservatory for breakfast was so special! We will definitely be back again!

The Milk Parlour is a charming thatched building in the highest village in Dorset. The fusion of traditional and modern themes in the building make for a comfortable and cosy feel. Wonderful views and walking from the village ensure your stay with us will be memorable. Our dog friendly accommodation means your four footed friend can join you as you explore the delights of North Dorset's rolling hills. Steve and Sara look forward to welcoming you.
As you will see from the aerial photo, our house is opposite the Milk Parlour but you are sufficiently far away to be quite private. We will respect your privacy but equally love to meet our guests and give nuggets of advice on the local area if required. The accommodation is open plan living/dining/kitchen with a separate bedroom. The section with the glazed doors attached to the Milk Parlour is our office and we do wander back and forth from time to time but will leave you in peace. Part of the garden is available for your use but you have your own sitting area directly outside which enjoys the sunshine all day. The Wifi is very fast and you have access to our netflix account. There is no bath but a spacious shower. As well as the listed amenities you also have a dishwasher. The Milk Parlour is completely self contained and when we are not around you will be given a code for the key safe before you arrive.
Ashmore is famous for being the highest village in Dorset and enjoys the fabulous views you would expect. It is an active rural community with working arable farms. The village sits on Cranborne Chase which is hoping to become the UK’s first AONB to achieve dark sky recognition and there are only currently 11 of these in the world.- so you will need a torch! We are within ten minutes of Shaftesbury with the famous Gold Hill which featured in the historic Hovis advert. Shaftesbury is a charming hilltop town with pubs , coffee shops and independent retailers . We are well placed for Salisbury, Bath, Poole and the Jurassic coast. Other places of interest include Stourhead, Longleat and Stonehenge There are some beautiful secluded beaches around 45mins away by car and other landmarks all within a short drive. We are blessed with great dining pubs in the area so do some internet surfing before you arrive and there is a list of our favourites in the information file. N.B There is no pub or shop in the village
  • The place is stunning, bed super comfy and so many thoughtful touches. Superb communication and fantastic location. Couldn't ask for more

  • Lovely cottage, very tastefully decorated, very homely and cosy. Lots of thoughtful touches on arrival such as milk, some biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco. We were there for a work trip but there are lots of suggestions for places to visit for anyone visiting for vacation. The hosts are lovely and although you are close to the main house you don’t feel overlooked. The sun rise from the garden isn’t also beautiful given the s running views over the fields.

    Laura2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The milk parlour is absolutely wonderful, it is such a cosy getaway with some beautiful touches. We had a wonderful stay here despite some bad weather and cant wait to come back again in the future! If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and unwind then Sara’s place is perfect

  • Lovely brand new home, no "Don't do this/don't do that" notices about, and there is a Spar shop and Co-op within walking distance. There is also a "Thai kitchen" restaurant within 15mins walking distance - bear in mind that this restaurant only take cash, or they send you to the co-op to get cash out!

  • Martin and his wife are lovely hosts. Martin's personal stories helped made my stay a wonderful experience. The room was beautiful, clean and tidy and the complete use of their kitchen as well as having breakfast laid out on the kitchen table were really lovely touches. I would recommend Martin's home.

In a quiet lane with views, we're a short walk to the village. There are walks & places to visit inc Wardour, Springhead, & Wilton. 25' from Salisbury, Bath- 45', Stonehenge & Longleat Safari Park are also nearby. London is 2h away by road.
The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and is next door to the loo and shower. An iron and tumble dryer are available. There is Wi-Fi in the room. It is very simple, being just the spare room in our old cottage. Breakfast will have muesli and fresh fruit, very good bread for toast with homemade jam or marmelade.
We think Tisbury is a splendid village, both convenient and friendly. Duck Street is on its edge, a 12 minute walk to the high street but overlooking fields.
  • A cosy place to escape from it all for an arty weekend. Walking distance from Messums Wiltshire, the weekend was a mix of the quiet of the countryside and amazing art. There is lots to explore in the area as well. Highly recommended!

  • We had great time in Clancy’s house. Both her and her husband were wonderful hosts . They prepared tasty breakfast (including gluten free bread). The room has private entrance and if full of character . Tisbury is a beautiful place with beautiful stone houses. Staying in Clancy’s house added to the whole experience .

  • If you’re looking for a traditional Country home where books and artwork and conversation do furnish a room then look no further. The reception is warm and sincere, the accommodation comfortable and private. Only if you believe that an interesting home is one with straight lines, unadorned walls and no visible signs of culture would this perhaps not be for you. Clancy’s home is like a warm blanket on a winter’s night and the breakfast is copious.

  • Clancy embodies the true ethos of airbnb, welcoming guests into her traditional thatched cottage. It was perfect for my needs ( I was attending a party nearby) The bed was very comfortable and I had a lovely chat with Clancy the next morning at breakfast.. enjoying the best coffee I have ever tasted. It was all very pleasant indeed. I would highly recommend staying at Clancy's place.

  • This accommodation is a wonderful place to stay. Spotlessly clean, welcoming and well equipped. The location between Salisbury and Shaftesbury is also great as is Swallowcliffe Village and the local pub. Tanya is a wonderful host.

    Susan2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya and her place are lovely. She’s the perfect host, and there are so many thoughtful touches, from the delicious food that she left us, to the insider tips on places to go nearby. The house is spotless and surrounded by a beautiful big field that my dog loved. I highly recommend staying at Tanya’s!

    Michele2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely two nights stay at swallow cottage. It was just what we needed as a family of 5, a perfect retreat. The cottage is really cosy and equipped for all your needs. We went to the local pub (the Royal Oak) one evening, the food and staff were excellent. There is plenty to do nearby and we opted for a bit of end of season fruit picking at Ansty farm and then popped into Salisbury to look around the cathedral. We have three young kids (3,5 &9) and they loved running around the garden and playing with the sheep. Such a nice break, great place and great host

    Alex2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage with excellent amenities. Set amongst beautiful countryside but eateries also close by (best of both worlds). The cottage is beautifully decorated with some lovely personal touches. Free on-site parking is also huge benefit. Tanya was a fantastic host and responded very quickly to messages and did her upmost to ensure we had the best stay possible and was very accommodating to our needs! Thank you :)

    Laura2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya's place is in a quiet, beautiful setting, with a lovely garden, and a pet friendly sheep in the near-by field! Her house is clean and spacious and the beds are super comfy. I would highly recommend.

  • Dear Tanya, Thank you for our amazing stay if only for one night. We enjoyed every minute of our time at your air b&b and would love the opportunity to come again in the future. Nikki loved the caravan and wish that she could have stayed longer and when she arrived home she told everyone about the clues you left for her to follow and was desperately to find out who the girl was that the cards were written to. Thank you so much once again

    Caroline2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stunning, the granddaughters had so much outdoor space to run around in and play safely. They absolutely adored the caravan that had been made into a colouring and making area

    Gaynor2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very spacious, clean and comfortable cottage and worked well for us and our 10 month old daughter. Tanya is a lovely, welcoming host, who made sure we had a cot and high chair, as well as children’s games. There is a nice mown field next to the cottage which was safe for our daughter to explore; she particularly liked the very tame sheep in the next paddock.

  • Jane's room is only a bedroom, but it's beautifully clean and comfortable, the hosts are excellent at communication both before and during the stay, and the location is ideal. If you're going to a wedding at Ashley Wood Farm it could not be more convenient, almost opposite the farm entrance, and your hosts are well versed in making wedding visits work. Strongly recommended

Our purpose built Shepherd's hut is nestled in a little wooded area on the side of our working farm and equestrian facility. You could be in the middle of nowhere yet you are only a minutes walk from the car park. From the hut you have excellent views across our 25 acre cross country course and the beautiful Wiltshire downs. You're likely to spot a horse or two, some boxing hares and a whole host of other wildlife.
The hut has a standard double bed with luxury pocket sprung mattress. A mattress protector and bottom sheet are provided but you will need to bring your own bedding, pillows and towels. The kitchen area is well equipped and has a sink, double gas hob and a powered cool box. There is small log burner for when it gets chilly but for sunny evenings there is a picnic bench and BBQ/fire pit outside. kindling, logs and charcoal are all provided. . Enough tea and coffee for your first mug or two is provided. The Hut has 12v electricity and plenty of different lighting options to allow you to create the perfect atmosphere for a snug evening. There is a Bluetooth speaker and USB charging points There is storage for a bag or two under the bed. There's also a decent sized storage box for any food that you may bring. The toilet and shower block is a 20 second walk from the hut and has hot water on demand. As an equestrian facility we could also accommodate your horse (for an additional fee) to enable you to enjoy the equestrian facilities we have on offer. We have hundreds of miles of bridleways, all accessible from the farm. If walking is more your thing then you will find an Ordnance Survey map in the hut. There are endless options depending on how energetic you're feeling. The chalk downlands provides a unique habitat for birds and nature in general and there is always plenty to look at and enjoy. The farm has featured on both Countryfile and the One Show for its wildlife. We are on the sustrans Route 24 cycle route so cycling is plentiful. Longleat forest and Windhill bike park are also nearby for the more adventurous mountain bike rider. I'm a keen mountain biker myself and would happily share some local knowledge. Longleat, Bath, Stonehenge and Salisbury are all nearby. If you want to let someone else do the cooking we have several excellent country pubs nearby (5 min drive or 20-30 min walk). If you need to stock up at anytime there's a decent store at Codford 3 miles away, or, 3 major supermarkets in Warminster, which is 10 minutes away by car.
  • The hut is in a fantastic location, everything you need is to hand, Spotlessly clean, great toilet and shower block, Nothing is too much for Andrew, Perfect base to tour local area, and get back to peace and quiet, This wasnt our first stay in a shepherd's hut but was the best, Thank you Andrew.

    Derek2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut looks great and has all you need for a cosy night and breakfast with a view the next day. Lots of clever touches for a small space. We particularly loved the log burner that took the edge off a rainy October night. The bonus was waking up to dappled sunlight coming through the trees.

    Lorna2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very thoughtfully laid out. Peaceful and very cosy. Andrew is generous, friendly and flexible. The unlimited supply of wood for the stove made our stay extra cosy. We really didnt want to leave!

    Abigail2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew has created a great space here. The hut is really well kitted out with comfort and thoughtful little touches. First night we stayed was a bit chilly but 5 minutes with the log burner lit and the place was warm and cosy. The facilities were private and a 5 second walk. They were spotlessly clean and the shower was really hot and powerful. Outside the hut there was a little firepit which we sat round and enjoyed the views. It was quiet and apart from the odd horse rider very private. Andrew met us on arrival and showed us round. He was very friendly and welcoming. We didn't see him at all after that but new he was on hand if anything happened. I'd absolutely recommend this place and would certainly stay again if we were in the area.

    Ben2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place!! The location is truly stunning. The most beautiful, starry night sky! We stayed after visiting centre parcs spa, which was easy driving distance, even late at night. Coming back to the Shepherds hut was just as relaxing as the spa. Basic, but wonderful accommodation. Can’t recommend this place enough. Andrew was the most fantastic host and we will definitely be returning.

    Lara2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely place to stay. Everything was clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable and so peaceful at night. Recommend to everyone. Also Andrew was extremely helpful and flexible to my time constraints and responded in a few minutes to messages.
