  • The container was everything we could wish for and more! The space was so beautiful, and being able to wake up and look at the sheep on the hill, overlooking the view, immaculate. We did a puzzle, played chess, and danced the night away with the amazing record collection. Also loved how it was an option to purchase bubbles and food onsite. Truly outstanding place and can’t wait to come back.

  • This place is INCREDIBLE! Such a unique, private, beautifully designed space. The views are next level, and sitting on the deck while the flock of sheep roam around just outside was a lovely experience. Kitchen is well appointed and the bed and bedding is super comfy. Sitting by the fire on a cold night with a bowl of homemade chicken soup was hygge indeed.

  • Great accommodation! The atmosphere was ideal and it was so relaxing staying at this original and welcoming place. Thank you.

  • This space is absolutely amazing. It encourages creativity and peace. Highly recommended for a space to unwind and relax in. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

  • If we could give the Container more than 5 stars we would. It was an absolutely perfect getaway & allowed us to feel completely and utterly relaxed. There are so many activities to do at the container & a beautiful walk that you can do on the property too. The homemade bread and fresh free range eggs were absolutely amazing. We will be back!

    Megan2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our first trip to Tassie and we used the Container as our home for the first three nights. A magical place with magnificent views and amazing architecture and personal touches. Funky, fun and a fantastic location. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway.

  • Cosy, cute, peaceful and homely place

    Tan2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and beautiful home! The view when you look out of bed is absolutely stunning. The peace and quiet cannot be beat and it is so convenient to drive up to Mount Wellington. Yet onky a short drive into CBD. Mieke and her family welcomed us warmly (so did her puppy Luna). We hope to stay here again in the future! Highly recommend!

    Davidson2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Unbelievable sunrise right out the window in front of the bed. This place is truly magical. 10,000% recommend!

    Tim2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place! Lots of personal touches, great location, and very comfortable. Would absolutely come back.

    Lachlan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great value for money. You are tucked away with amazing views as well as being right under Mt Wellington. But at the same time you are only 10 min drive from Hobart. It is the perfect location and the place itself was so cozy with a beautiful view from your bed. The host, Mieke was also very friendly and hospitable. I would definitely recommend.

    Sarah2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute must! Close to the CBD and all amenities, with everything you need within easy reach! Lovely private property, with great views of the city! We also had a wonderful opportunity to chat with Mieke, who gave us some lovely tips for places to see in the Huon Valley & Bruny Island. Would definitely recommend to friends!

    Natalie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We have enjoyed our stay at Mieke's. The place has all the creature comfort we needed: very comfortable bed for a restful sleep, silence, fully equipped kitchen (no microwave oven, but it was not missed), clean bathroom amenities, and a warm welcome. We will certainly stay here again when we visit Hobart again. Next time, we'll make the best of our stay and take on the walking tracks of Mount Wellington!

  • What an incredible place! We loved every moment at the magical mountain nest and recommend to anyone looking for the most perfect relaxing retreat in Tasmania. 10/10.

  • What a lovely, relaxing place. Unfortunately there during thew lockdown, but once this is over will definitely return.

    Dimitri2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place to stay !! 5 star all the way and fantastic hosts. I cannot recommend highly enough this magnificent place.

  • What a view to wake up to! Watching the sunrise from bed was simply stunning. A very well thought out space. Super comfy bed. We’ve fallen in love with Falmouth!

    Drew2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The view is absolutely stunning from this villa, and the amenities available are all you could need. Towns with shops or cafes are only a 10 minute drive, and they’ve got a list of suggested activities and food places which is really helpful for those unfamiliar with the area. Would definitely come back again!

    Emma2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very serene and a place to escape stress

    Les2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place and location

    James2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Choose this place! I’ve stayed at many AirBnBs and this one was the best. Too many thoughtful details throughout to list here, and the cleanliness and amenities were wonderful. Nothing had been overlooked. Then the location-if you need to switch off, reconnect, be romantic, have time to yourself, smile, or breathe deeply this place will hit the nail on the head. There’s not even a town centre though so come prepared (with some wine and cheese in the least). We took note of the host’s recommendations and went to Lifebuoy Cafe & Quail St Emporium for breakky and it was also a highlight. It made our short weekend away feel like a long holiday we came back so recharged. Cheers.

Our comfortable modern industrial style apartment is situated in our private oasis of a garden. With a queen bed, quality linen, fast unlimited wifi and Netflix. We have a few gorgeous chickens, a Springer spaniel pup and red kelpie dog. Located 15min walk to CBD, and 5min to shops and other necessities. Safe on-street parking directly out the front.
The studio space comfortably suits a couple. A kitchenette and fridge for the late night snack or a 3 course meal. The apartment is very private on its own floor with newly renovated bathroom. Our home is on the next level, so occasionally you may hear footsteps from above, as you might see from our reviews this is very rarely an issue, however we want to be transparent about the space. The accomodation is very safe and private with gated entry.
We live opposite Invermay Oval, a stones throw from UTAS Stadium, a short walk to Heritage Park and the North Esk river. We don't have any direct neighbours, so although an active area the accomodation is private and quiet. That being said, occasionally it can be a little active when the oval is being used across the road. Deli, grocery, laundromat restaurants and shops are a 5 min walk away.
  • Fantastic accommodation!!

  • We love Anthony’s place. So cozy and surrounded by gorgeous gardens. Only 5 mins from town. And fresh bread and eggs!

    Lisa2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, stylish and convenient location close to downtown, the Gorge and the beautiful Tamar Valley vineyards. Sparking clean and great hosts. Would highly recommend!

    Heather2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • With it's quirky/rustic styling, little treats (yum - fresh bread for breakfast!), a comfortable bed with big cosy pillows and a beautiful garden setting you will feel right at home in Anthony's studio. During our week long stay the resident dogs, Bam and Augie, kept us amused and greeted us like long lost friends when we returned home each day. They are gorgeous.

AERIE retreat. Re open from June 15. A private designer apartment in the bush by the water. Walk down to the very private Wilderness Deck for exclusive use of the Timber Hot Tub, Sauna and fire pit. Access to the waterfront marine reserve is also exclusively available for our guests. A brilliant spot to stay summer or winter. Watch the winter full moon rise over the ocean from the hot tub and sauna.
AERIE private wilderness retreat is a bespoke designer apartment with all the quality and none of the nonsense. Enjoy the wood fired sauna, Timber Hot Tub or just relaxing in front of the fire pit overlooking the ocean and Bruny Island. The experience staying at AERIE is all about relaxation, wilderness and water. Situated on the waterfront amongst the tree tops, AERIE overlooks Bruny Island, Storm Bay, D’Entrecasteaux Channel and the Iron Pot lighthouse at the mouth of the Derwent River. Down a path and around 50 steps is the wilderness deck, perched amongst the trees above the cove. Here you have a large purpose built timber deck, fire pit, sauna, and timber hot tub, all heated by fire, and all built for the best wilderness health and relaxation experience you can find. The hot tub is filled fresh with water for each guest and is pre lit and ready for you to use. The sauna can be fired up as you wish, it is pre set and ready to go. From the wilderness deck there are more steps down to the private little Pilot Cove and Tinderbox Marine Reserve, this is the only way other than by boat to reach this part of the reserve. A brilliant spot for a spot of morning yoga and some of the best snorkelling in Tasmania. Sea Eagles are a regular visitor that hunt in the marine reserve, so keep an eye and an ear out. The apartment was architect designed and purpose built. The interior, the furniture, the artwork was all hand crafted just for this one apartment. Solid timber and leather features with some funky but easy to live with lighting that makes this the most unique and relaxing place to stay. Parking is right outside the apartment the kitchen is self contained with a microwave, stove top, sink, fridge and dishwasher. In the bathroom, the bath, shower and toilet have one of the best views you can get. No TV or internet (although sadly your phone will work) just relax on the hand made leather couches, soak up the view, watch the boats and the birds go by. A few hundred meters up the road is a free public tennis court and Piersons Point lookout. A further two kilometers down the road is Tinderbox beach, vineyard, boat ramp and moorings with a small BBQ shelter. Don’t come here if you don’t want to walk up and down a few steps (quite a few!), cant light a fire and you don’t like spending some time relaxing. You can’t fish from this property as it’s in a Marine Reserve. We don't alloy parties or other guests visiting you and unfortunately no children. We live on the property so if you have any questions or require assistance with the sauna or hot tub we can help you out. Our house is 100m away from the apartment and the wilderness deck so you have plenty of privacy, the entire wilderness deck, sauna, hot tub, and cove track are exclusively yours. People find this an ideal place to stay after the day at MONA, spend the evening in the tub and sauna before an early morning snorkel in the marine reserve. 30 minutes form Hobart, 10 minutes up the road is the Blackmans Bay “Hill Street Grocer” a brilliant spot to stock up for a few days. Also at the same Bayview Shopping Centre is a bottleshop baker, newsagent, sushi, hairdresser, pharmacy.
Tinderbox is a bush peninsula 7km long immediately past the Southernmost suburb of Hobart. It's quiet, pretty much all bush, it has a small beach, a marine reserve, a park with a free tennis court and the best view in the world.
  • Awesome location, great amenities, highly recommend.

  • This place is fantastic. We stayed here for 4 nights for our honeymoon. The apartment is spotless and fantastically designed to get the most out of the beautiful views. The deck is a great place to relax with a the fireplace and hot tub. Really great location as well, only 30 minutes to Hobart and the local shops at Blackmans Bay are fantastic as well.

    Tatiana2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, stunning property, great hospitality, best BNB we have been to, to date. Will be staying again.

  • I can’t imagine a better reflection of Tasmania. The outlook, architecture and unobtrusive approach to guests being able to enjoy the location is brilliant. We’ve already suggested friends come to Tasmania just for this. Thanks so much mate!

    Allison2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a gorgeous space! As a fellow Tasmanian I was so excited to see this place and it was even better than I had anticipated. Enjoying the beautiful views and sounds of birds in the hot tub, the adventures of exploring the property and its architecture, and watching the sunrise from bed in the morning we’re just some of the highlights! I’d definitely come again- thank you so much!

    Hayley2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely amazing property, didn't want to leave!! Thank you for sharing it with us! Would highly recommend!

    Kate2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. Braye gave us our privacy but answered any messages promptly. The indoor space was super comfortable with some really good design ideas, but it's the outdoor deck with cedar hot tub, fire pit and sauna down amongst the gum trees overlooking the water where we spent most of our time. Just pick up some groceries at Hill Street Grocer at Blackmans Bay on the way from Hobart, settle in and enjoy the peace.

  • This place was just outstanding and in a such a beautiful part of the world. The house is wonderful, warm inviting and fun. We can't wait to return and experience this cultural wonder in Tassie again . Thank you for a superb vacation .

  • This place is awesome! The decoration, the view was perfect! Dominic is a beautiful human! Thank you so much!

    Carole2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so beautifully located and Dominic is such a welcoming great host. The house is Colourful, warm, cosy full of nice details. The view is breath-taking peaceful. We regretted that the house was available only for one night, if not we would have stayed longer. However, this one night was so beautiful with Dominic cooking us a private meal while sharing some wines. Also the jacuzzi under full-stars sky was wonderful. Whenever again in Tasmania, we will certainly go back!

    Martine2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Would very much reccomend staying here, it was super private, the hot tub was great and the place was super clean. Couldn't fault Doms hospitality in the slightest. 10/10.

    Emma2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here is like staying at your own place. Frederic is keen to make your stay confortable in permanently wondering if you got all what you need. We had a very nice diner that was prepared by himself (he is a former restaurant owner) very well cooked with fresh local products and accompanied with a glass of very good Tasmania wine. The property is conveniently located a drive away from Cradle Mountain (other nice spots closer if you don't want to drive there). So in conclusion if you are looking for a place to feel home in a stunning environment with a very nice host this place is for you. But watch out reservation ahead is required!

    Jf2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is one of the genuine finds of Air BnB and I can’t recommend it enough! The property is located not far from Cradle Mountain and is stunningly beautiful in its own right. There are farm animals as well as some local natives that come down to say hello. Dom was friendly and professional, greeting us on arrival and showing us around. We also took Dom up on his offer of cooking and it was one of the best meals I’ve eaten in my life.

    Patrick2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with outstanding view of Mt Roland and lots of native wildlife!

    Simon2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the deck is absolutely spectacular. You get to look at Mt. Roland in all its glory - changing constantly throughout the day. The dining table is set up so that you even get to watch the mountain while enjoying your meals. Eclectically decorated, the house was very clean, with good quality sheets and towels. Very comfortable bed. The king bed faces the mountain. Amazing to wake up to that view. Nice to have a BBQ. Communications were excellent. It is a country property, so there is a bit of drive to town and local attractions. However, we loved having the privacy and felt like we had it all to ourselves. Lots of local wildlife to enjoy and of course the 2 horses and 3 sheep. Highly recommend.

Quiet coastal village between Bay of Fires and Coles Bay. Designer built, bespoke, relaxed and comfortable Beach House. Ocean views, gourmet kitchen, open plan living space, large decks, wood fire's, cool bathroom, outdoor shower and funky 2nd bedroom sleep out. Please note, there are no Cafe's or shops, petrol stations etc in Falmouth its self. The nearest is St Marys or Scamander both 10mins, or St Helens 20 minutes, away all by car. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE
Falmouth is a special place on a unique Island ..... so relaxing ! Sheoaks is rich in style and comfort, we designed and built it and hope you love and enjoy it as much as we do. It's a great base for exploring the rest of the coast, North to the Bay of Fires South to Freycinet and every spot in-between. You can of course just hang out in Falmouth, beach combing, play tennis, go fishing or diving, swim in the warm waters of Henderson's Lagoon, go for a surf, ride your bike, or just relax around Sheoakes and read that book/magazine you've been meaning to. Or maybe just lie around the decks in the sun and look out for fishing boats, Sydney Hobart yachts racing down the coast or Southern Right and Hump back whales that drift by, sometimes breaching right in front of you depending on the time of the year. Cook up a storm in the gourmet kitchen, equipped with quality kitchenware. Gas hob, electric fan forced oven, Miele dish washer microwave, coffee etc, you get the picture. P.S. On a clear night the sky puts on a spectacular show .... the Milky Way - Enjoy !! PPS. Go to the bottom of Stiglitz Street, in front of the house is access to the “Coastal Walk “ which will take you along the coast to the headland, lagoon and beaches ....... beautiful !
Falmouth is off the east coast tourist trail so no street lights, no shops /petrol stations, has dirt roads etc, very quiet ........ it's great we like it like that. So come stocked up with food and wine. The nearest shop/petrol station is 10-15 min's away by car at St Marys or up the coast at Scamander. We are 3hrs from Hobart and 2 hrs from Launceston. 1 hour to Bay of Fires to the North and 1 hour to Frecinet Peninsula to the South. There is a great coastal walk, access is down the street in front of the house. This will take you to the beach, headland and Henderson’s lagoon.
  • Bob & Sarah’s house was just a dream house. We stayed 2 nights with our twin daughters. Although this space is designed for couples, our kids loved the stay. Even though we brought loads of toys with us, they preferred to run around the garden and enjoy the hammock. Every detail was thought, it really felt like a home away from home. Bob&Sarah were also quick responders to our messages. Anyone who is thinking to book their house shouldn’t think twice. It is THAT good! Thanks for the experience Bob & Sarah.

  • Beautiful slice of paradise in Tasmania! Bob and Sarah’s place is so well designed and comes with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and romantic getaway. The coastal walk, massive kitchen, outdoor hammocks and indoor fireplace were some of our favorites!

  • My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our 3 night stay @sheoakes. We had an adventure packed trip in tassie including the overland and some derby mountain Biking, we were certainly ready for some relaxation. This was the perfect way to unwind completely for our last few days. We took a long walk along the beach to scamander one day which was nice and spent the rest of the time sipping wine, reading and cooking in the well established kitchen. The warm outdoor shower is a feature after a cold ocean swim ! As the hosts mention, worth stocking up with food and beverage prior. I would also recommend if possible doing so in as big a town as possible. The IGA in St. Helens May well be the most expensive grocery store I’ve experienced , Scottsdale was probably a better choice. All In all, great private space, hosts and location! We highly recommend.

  • Lovely quirky house. Spotlessly clean. Great kitchen. Beautiful location. It's great to find such a nice dog friendly house.

  • A great house and a great stay. The wood fire was amazing, location perfect. Thank you Bob and Sarah

  • Such a beautiful place to stay near the Bay of Fires. It unfortunately rained our entire stay.. but that’s Tasmania for you! The place was very cozy during the storm and stayed very warm with the indoor fireplace. We were able to read and watch movies while watching the storm from the huge windows. The kitchen is beautiful and very easy to cook in with everything you would need. There are beautiful touches all throughout the house.. wish we could have taken advantage of the hammocks outside! Definitely would stay here again. Even more beautiful than the photos!

    Jenny2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house in a beautiful location.

    Fiona2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such an incredible AirBnB!! Bob and Sara thought of everything in setting up this place, and the pictures don't do it it justice. The beach is stunning and was about a 5 minute walk from our front door. We'll definitely be back!

  • Beautiful little tiny home with plenty of charm and style. Had everything we needed for a 3 night stay and lovely and quiet setting amongst the gardens. Great location too. Lovely and tidy. Only issue is there is a loft area for sleeping with limited space/headroom and a ladder to climb which wasn’t an issue for us but could be for others. Loved it ❤️ Would definitely stay again.

    Dale2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what we were looking for! Quaint, cosy and felt like the middle of the forest! When we arrived we were greeted by an adorable small black and white pooch. He reminded me of my dog back at home who I was missing. The love grove is cosy with plenty of stuff to keep you warm- electric blanket, wood fire heater, extra blanket on top which was plenty. The owners kindly provided bread, eggs, milk, tea, sugar, coffee, OJ, jam, butter and cornflakes! The owners were friendly and left us to our devices which is what you want. We checked out cradle mountain and even saw an echidna just up the road from the property!

  • Our stay at Julie and Kellie’s place was fabulous, they were fantastic communicators and had lots of thoughtful touches like wine, chocolate and fresh eggs to make our stay feel really special. Their property feels very private even though the main house is not far away. It’s quite close to the town of Bicheno which had some lovely seafood, great wineries such as Devils Corner and also Freycinet National park. The spa was such a treat each afternoon after along day of bush walks and exploring, we even saw a wombat while in the spa one night! We were only there for 3 nights but wish we had stayed longer, a truely relaxing getaway!

Sunhouse is an unexpected gem on the Tasman Peninsula, located just 15 minutes from Port Arthur. Nestled between the trees and the ocean but near town, a place to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and nature. Meandering days can be spent wandering the coves and beaches, playing cards, drinking cups of tea or simply soaking up the sun with a good book. Come evening, pick produce from the garden and sip a wine in front of the fire. A place to slow down and enjoy what Tasmania has to offer.
Restored with love and creativity, filled with vintage finds and surrounded by a rambling cottage garden, the space is one that has had many hours of care put into it. Please note that this is a small cottage and not a luxury hotel! We use this space to get back to nature (although there is a very small TV available if desired). A 70’s cottage that has been furnished with the collected and considered, from the handcrafted timber kitchen to the tiniest curated details. Enjoy a soak in the bath or sleep in and appreciate the linen bedding. Although equipped with modern comforts, it is rustic, raw and authentic. The way Tasmania was meant to be enjoyed. Sunhouse has a wood fire, a full kitchen and on site parking. Equally designed for enjoying in solitude or to be shared with love, we have two queen beds and a set of bunks so can accommodate six. Coffee, tea and basic provisions are provided however there are two IGA grocers nearby and one of the most amazing coffee spots a short drive away.
Sunhouse is located on the edge of the small fishing town, Nubeena, nestled in the coves of the Tasman Peninsula. While supplies are available in town, it is also a beautiful drive around the Peninsula to Port Arthur (15 minutes) and Eaglehawk Neck (20 minutes). Make no mistake, there is no need to travel to find beauty (or surf) - the Peninsula is a treasure trove of hidden beaches, silent forests and untouched beauty.
  • lovely little home, with a roaring fireplace and outdoor bath! Perfect for a little escape

    Lisa2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • Amazing place to stay to get a way from the world for a bit! We were 2 teenage girls who just finished the overland track and caught the only bus to nubeena from Hobart (there is one a day). We got around quite easily by hitchhiking with some lovely travellers (we did the cape Raoul walking track with a lovely couple who picked us up and they even dropped us back right outside the front door of sunhouse). Very beautifully curated interior and loved having a bath under the stars. There is even fruit and herbs to pick from garden! Can’t recommend enough!!

A place to make beautiful memories. Let the waves whisper you to sleep in this lovely private cottage in a charming garden. Take a dozen steps from the lounge to the sand. Gather an armful of driftwood for a fire in the fire pit on the edge of the beach. Watch the surf, the birds, the ships, or enjoy a brisk early walk along the beach to the mouth of the river. Our usual $135 p.n. is discounted to $96 p.n.for first 10 bookings as we get back to normal. We need guests! So come and stay.
The cottage was once a beach "shack" that has just been totally renovated, and is quite delightful. It is on the beach, facing north, looking out across the strait towards Victoria on the Australian mainland. It captures all the sun, and is warm winter and summer. The reverse cycle air conditioner/heater deals with the rest. It is light and airy, and we rarely have flies, and no mosquitoes. Doors and windows stay open often day and night. It is close to the street on a "no thru" road, with a covered car port at the front door. There is level access into the cottage, and just one step inside. Whilst not perfect for the disabled, its very good for someone with some mobility issues. Please talk to us about what you need and whether we meet your requirements. Families are very welcome, understanding that children must be supervised at all times. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a superb view of the surf to the horizon - from bed. In the main bedroom there is a walk in closet and shelving, dressing table/desk and chair, crisp white linen, plenty of pillows, spare blankets, electric blanket, bed lamps, ceiling fan. The second bedroom has a single bed and single trundle bed which will lift up on legs to normal height (or be used at the lower level which seems to work well for small children). If one person is using the room the second bed is out of the way concealed beneath the other bed. There is a large 3 door wardrobe with lots of shelves, bedside table and lamp, fan, full length mirror etc. The bathroom has a generous shower, vanity and toilet, lots of towels, hair drier, tissues, toilet paper. The laundry alcove has a trough and automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, brooms, and there is a clothes line outside. The stunning new kitchen provides dishwasher, microwave, generous fridge/freezer, under bench oven and ceramic hot plates, with all the equipment you could possibly want if cooking appeals. We have a selection of herbs and serving dishes to make it easy. The kitchen has a large sliding window to a server bench and BBQ. The dining area seats 6 for dining with "The View". The open plan lounge area has a comfortable double sofa bed with innerspring mattress, large TV, recliner chair etc. The sofa bed area is not private of course since the living space forms an open "L" shape. We have provided every comfort we can think of to make your stay enjoyable. The cottage is stunning for two, three, or four adults, perfect for a family with children, and definitely full for six (but fun!) There is a USB charger on one of the power outlets. There is wireless internet access, not fast, but ok. Mobile phone coverage is good. There is a herb garden (help yourself); and a nectarine tree, in season of course. On calm nights you can gather driftwood and light a fire in the outdoor fire pit beside the sand, whilst watching the sun set over the sea. The outdoors are very large, seriously close and stunningly beautiful. The rear gazebo has outdoor seating and in the late afternoon it is just lovely to sit there with a glass of bubbly, coffee or whatever takes your fancy. As it becomes darker, the solar lights flicker on in the boardwalk lighting your way to the sand.
We are in a small enclave of old waterside "shacks" on the edge of the bay at Blythe Heads, the mouth of the Blythe River. Our beach shack has been "rebirthed" and is rather special. The street is old, but the neighbours are nice. For us the extremely rare, unique and intimate connection with the beach, and convenience of the nearby highway outweigh the older buildings of our street, but for some of our guests we have been downgraded to a 3 because of this. We don't want anyone to be disappointed, so please consider if this is important to you. We are only 50 m from the main Blythe Heads roundabout, the area is called Heybridge, 6km from Burnie. (Google maps street view is 15 years old and most misleading). We are very easy to find, and easy as a base to access various Northern Tasmanian attractions. Historic Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Sheffield, Chocolate Factory, Raspberry Farm, Angove Cheese, The Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery, The Purple House at Forth, Penguin shopping, Ulverstone shopping and restaurants, Devonport Spirit of Tasmania (30 minutes) and many more are within easy visiting from here. The smart shopping enclave at Wivenhoe (4km) has cafes (yummy vanilla slice at the bakery) , restaurants, butcher, supermarket, ATM, deli, etc.
  • A sweet little cottage beautifully appointed and extremely well equipped. The beach and rock formations are absolutely fascinating!!

Brand new house with views over the channel and towards the Hartz mountains and amazing sunsets. Comfortable and cosy home with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Great location, 5 minute drive to winery, 500m to Bruny hotel and a 500m walk to a 3km trail along the foreshore. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Best suited to younger guests There is going to be a new house built next door, starting in a month or so, which could impact the piece and quiet.
The holiday home offers one beautiful bedroom, with a bath overlooking the stunning views. The room also has an ensuite. The living area has a flat screen TV and is open to the dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven and microwave and the home has a laundry with a washing machine.
  • Beautiful tranquil house surrounded by other homes, this is perfect for a stay in Brunny Island. It has a functional kitchen, space for eating and relaxing, laundry as well as a bath inside the main bedroom. Beautiful views from the balcony of the water. Highly recommend.

  • Amazing! Wish we could have stayed longer. Absolutely beautiful house in a stunning location. Perfect for a relaxed couple escape

    Corey2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house and fantastic for a couple’s getaway as advertised. The bath in the bedroom is a romantic touch. All amenities were modern and of good quality. Walking distance to the Bruny pub (about 10-15min), but be careful walking there and back at night as there are not clear designated footpaths and you walk very close to the road. Lovely stay and would recommend to couples looking for a break away.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Todd's house in Alonnah, Bruny Island. It's the perfect location to explore the island from, a super cosy house, and there are lots of thoughtful touches. Truly perfect for a couples weekend away as suggested! Thanks for having us.

Old Bishop's Quarters Hobart - See our other listings Housekeeper's Apartment, Tutor's Apartment & Old School House. Free wifi and parking. Walking distance to Salamanca.
Sleep under the stars! Hidden away in a secluded end of the gardens is the eclectic Monty's Hideaway. The perfect spot for a uniquely memorable romantic get away. There is simply nothing like it in Australia! Come with an adventurous spirit and you won't be disappointed. Monty's Hideaway is a luxurious 20ft shipping container - studio with a retractable roof over your bed. NO fly screen. NO glass. Just pure fresh Tasmanian AIR above your bed when the roof is OPEN. When the roof is CLOSED enjoy the underfloor heating and private space. The main room is cosy (as photographed). There is a spacious shower room with a lifting roof (open to the fresh air) so you can shower in the morning sun. And there is a wonderfully secluded deck with wood burner/chiminea and pleasant views towards the Derwent River. 6 star energy rating, underfloor heating, heated towel rail, Sonos hifi, wifi, TV, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, high quality linen and towels. The house is located on one of Hobart's most attractive tree-lined streets on the edge of Battery Point - just at the end of our street. The area is great for walking around, brimming with heritage buildings. Some of Hobart's top places to eat and drink are nearby within walking distance: JamJar, Pigeon Hole, Solo Pasta, Da Angelo's, Me Wah, The Duchess, Chillies, Jackman & McRoss Bakery. There is a good bottle shop (liquor store/off-licence) and high quality food/deli store within 200 metres.
  • Great little spot for a great Hobart getaway, close to everything!

    Tabitha-Maria2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This space was one-of-a-kind. The opening roof was something I had never seen before, and the bathroom was newly renovated and sparkling clean (with a roof that also opened up!). I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, new living experience. The communication was great, and overall stay was top notch. :)

  • A one of a kind experience!! Loved monty’s hideaway and the beautiful grounds it is situated on. Great quiet location about 20mins easy walk into city.

    Zoe2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at the Hideaway! The space is though fully designed and presented with underfloor heating, a large rain shower head, and the open roof which was brilliant. The location is an easy walk to the city, Salamanca and Sandy Bay, making many good cafes within walking distance. The list of recommended places to try was also appreciated!

    Claire2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough good things about my stay at the Hideaway. I was blessed with amazing weather, so got to experience the stars at night and glorious blue sky in the morning. Everything was super clean and I really loved the shower too!! Would definitely stay again.

  • This place is amazing! If you've seen Netflix's Tiny House Nation and enjoyed it, this will be right up your street. With the added bonus of a large bathroom and rain shower. Would 100% stay again. The retractable roof is dreamy!

#thebarnTAS is our multi award winning barn conversion. It is located in Hobart's CBD just mere minutes from the city's major cultural and gastronomic attractions including the historic precincts of Salamanca + Battery Point. For 1 night bookings please contact us directly.
Recently renovated by us (two young Architects), our late 1820's sandstone Barn is a truly unique accommodation experience. Our award winning conversion, incorporates light and a refined material palette to accentuate the historic building fabric. Our Barn is located in Hobart's CBD just mere minutes from city's major cultural and gastronomic attractions including the historic precincts of Salamanca + Battery Point. Wake up to city views, relax over a latte at Betsy, pick up a picnic lunch from Pigeon Hole Bakers and cap it all off with a perfectly plated dinner at Aloft! As designers our approach to the Barn has always been to keep as much of the (incredibly beautiful and richly textured) existing building fabric as possible. The original sandstone walls are exposed both internally and externally. The timber shingled roof and existing beams contrast with the new kitchen and bathroom insertion. The Barn is light and open, yet simultaneously cosy.
  • The Barn was great! It was recommended to us by friends and it didn't disappoint. Such a cool space in a really central location. We spent a little more time indoors there than we had expected to, given Covid-19, and we were just so glad to be somewhere that was so comfortable and lovely to stay. Liz & Alex were great hosts!

    Kristen And Kate2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property tucked away in the middle of the city. Set up to feel like our own personal, special space straight away, bottle of champagne on arrival!Convenient location, we were able to walk to anywhere we needed. Hosts were very attentive, including giving us detailed recommendations for visiting Hobart. For such a premium host, Wifi was a bit disappointing as we struggled to watch a movie online, and the pantry was a bit bare compared to what we had experienced in other airbnbs on our trip (small things like tea or coffee), but obviously there’s a lot more emphasis on eating out in the capital! All in all, we loved the unique design and was a wonderful experience to end our trip with.

    Marie2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Alex’s barn was clean and super handy for Hobart, highly recommended

    Megan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Liz and Alex’s. It was beautifully designed. We loved the large glass door that could pivot on its hinges out onto the courtyard. Whilst its in the heart of Hobart it felt like we were miles away from town. It has the benefits of convenience paired with being quiet and tranquil. Only thing I’d say is just the lighting at night isn’t that bright for cooking. Perfect for a couple’s getaway! 👌

We only booked 2 nights and wished we’d booked more. Great local tips too. Worth a stay even if you don’t leave the house!

ONLY 10min FROM HOBART CBD this CHARMING CABIN with LOG FIRE & DELUXE BATH/SHOWER is perched on one of the sunniest hillsides in South Hobart. Surrounded by nature and amazing views of South Hobart and Mount Wellington my home is a pleasure to share with you. Please read on for more info...
In the heart of South Hobart, my home is a warm and charming timber framed place with all modern amenities, including a FIREPLACE and TUB BATH to relax in. ***PLEASE NOTE:- As it is perched on a hill top, you do have to walk up a steep driveway then up a sloping front garden path (with railing) to get to house. The cabin is also on several different levels e.g. Stairs to bedroom loft & stairs down to bathroom (see photos for details.) If you have mobile challenges I would not suggest staying. However, if stairs don't bother you and you like the feeling of being in nature with only 5-10mins drive from CBD, views on every level and natural light THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS HOME.... FEATURES OF THE HOME:- *FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN with dishwasher, gas stove top/oven & quality utensils. *FREE WIFI *NETFLIX/SBS ON DEMAND *Fresh quality coffee/teas and pantry with basic cooking supplies *Top quality furnishings and linen with heart felt touches *Cathedral ceilings *Large windows allowing natural light to flood the home all year round *Exposed timber beams *Polished floor boards *FIREPLACE with wood supplied *NEW Deluxe DEEP BATH & RAIN DROP SHOWER HEAD *Heat pump/reverse cycle air conditioner *Smeg appliances/dish washer/micro wave/LG front loader *TV/DVD plus small but nice book & dvd selection *Electric Blanket The native backdrop of the house has abundant wildlife at your doorstep and faces bush land. Wallabies will greet you every morning & night if you sit quietly enough, coming right up to your feet. Soooo cute :) With all day sun the front of the house has a wrap around timber deck giving UNIQUE STUNNING VIEWS OF MOUNT WELLINGTON AND SOUTH HOBART creating a sense of being free, peaceful and private. My personal favorite is watching the birds fly past and seeing how the Mountain changes from sunrise to sunset.
The Neighborhood is charming and quiet. You are less than a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the CBD yet you feel you are in a private mountain cabin retreat. There a couple of really nice restaurants walking distance and the famous Salad Bowl which is a mini supermarket with quality Tasmanian food and wine products. . .
  • Fantastic place and Elle is a great host, will certainly be staying again when back in Hobart.

    Ben2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Elle’s place was wonderful, great location. Close to the CBD but far enough to get that mountain feel. Definitely a hike to get up to the house but worth it after every indulgent meal. Would highly recommend even one night.

    Marsha2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I booked the day before our stay for our last night in Tasmania and Elle was super quick and easy to communicate with. Her place was amazing. Great location actually overlooking the grounds of the Cascades Female Factory, and with a stunning view of the summit of Mt Wellington from the couch through the picture window. Wallabies and pandemelons roaming the yard, carrots provided for feeding. Fully equipped kitchen, massive bathtub and shower head, comfiest pillows and bedding ever. We wished we could have stayed longer, or lived there. Either one. Thanks Elle!

    Caldonia2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The coolest, most unique Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. I loved everything about it. Elle has little notes all over the house that help you find your way around, and makes the place feel like home. Also the wallabies come out at night and let you feed them which was the coolest experience ever! Wish I could have stayed longer

    Laura2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Elle's house was the perfect place for a weekend in Hobart. It's a quick drive to the city but you also feel like you are surrounded by nature. The house itself was amazing: fireplace, great views, wallabies. We couldn't imagine a better place to stay. Highly recommended. And Elle was a great host. We will definitely try to stay again next time in Hobart.

    Joel2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place in the hobart bush. Easily one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve had to date. Best for travellers that like a bit of character to a place. Amazing local tips and thoughtful touches.

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Elle’s a fantastic host, friendly and very communicative. Located on a quiet street, the house is up steep steps, but worth the view, and the cheeky wallaby visits. The bath is sublime to rest in after exploring all day. Elle has stocked the kitchen so if you get in late, you don’t have to worry about ducking to the supermarket, even though Elle mentions her preferred place to get food. Otherwise, we also recommend a cafe called Bear with Me. Anyway, the bed is super comfy, with an electric blanket, which we didn’t need, but wow I reckon would need in winter! Nice size place, with all amenities you could think of for a trip away. Highly recommend!

    Madeleine2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A great, quirky living space. Made to feel at home and host thoughtfully left breakfast essentials in the fridge and lots of tips for places to visit. Feeding the wallabies was great fun. As detailed in the hosts description it has a very steep climb up the driveway and steps if you have a lot of luggage. Very relaxing stay with wood burning stove if it gets a bit chilly. Comfy bed and very quiet.

  • Beyond the expectations! Our best Airbnb experience so far!!! We had quite a long trip by that stage and we got lucky to finally come to the right place. I felt like we were at a good friends house. Everything was amazing: welcoming music and turned on lamps, port (saved our evening) and heaps of other little touches. There were numerous little attention, made us fill like at home. It was our best experience so far. Thank you, lovely hosts! You deliver 150% towards your mission!

  • What a lovely place to escape everyday life and experience a farm stay! We were surprised by how much space we had in the cottage and it was very comfortable to relax in after a big day of canyoning at Cradle Mountain. We enjoyed meeting the animals and walking around the beautiful property and we were very grateful for the breakfast provisions including eggs and delicious orange juice and mustn't forget to mention the port! So good!

A stunning location with rocky mountains that surround the property at the rear and valley views for miles at the front of the property.

Would be awesome if you are an animal lover like us with the two adorable mini horses etc etc. Space was clean, neat and stylish. Huge thumbs up and thanks again!

  • The sheep in front of me were surrounded by wallaby, and the host was warm and welcoming. It was far from the airport to go to Cradle Mountain, but I was here because it was about 40 minutes by car, so I was able to make it slowly in the morning and was the correct answer. Amenity, meal were saved, too. Supermarkets are far away, so I think it's a good idea to buy anything you need.

    Junichi2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • How awesome is this place!! It's cosy, warm, stylish and different. I loved staying in the tiny house for the 2 nights, right out front of your door is about 28 sheep/lambs to watch, which are funny to watch running around. Good hot shower and the extra details inside the tiny house make this place feel like home. I used this tiny home as a base camp to explore the area and climb cradle mountain summit. I highly recommend this place. The worst thing about the tiny house house, is having to leave . Thank you Michelle and Jason for a lovely stay, A+.

  • This tiny house was a dream come true. I can’t express how much I loved staying here. The view with the lambs and sheep was beautiful. The bed was so cozy up in the loft, and the kitchen had everything I needed. The hosts are very helpful and showed me around the place when I first arrived. I could have stayed for so much longer, it was heaven! The one thing I would have in mind when booking is that the stairs to the loft bed are very large and steep, so I wouldn’t recommend for people with mobility issues.

  • Amazing view of sunset and unpolluted night sky, a perfect location to watch the stars.

    Kaung2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • The small tiny house offers all the amenities of a normal size house. Perfect location for cradle mountain hikers and it’s super comfortable stay. And of course, the super friendly host is a plus!

    Margaret2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We only have positive things to say about our experience, everything was well thought out and all amenities went above and beyond what was expected. The natural light in the house was amazing. We really appreciated the lockbox for the check in. Everything was perfect!

    Sean2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ah-ma-zing space! So bright and open and welcoming. My husband and I started our honeymoon here and it was 100% the right choice. With The Berry Patch (Friday night pizza nights 👌🏼💕) a short walk around the corner and the freeway so close yet far enough to not hear the traffic - perfect!! The window nook in the dining area was our favourite! We spent our nights here playing card games and having tea. Highly recommend anyone looking for a base camp to explore Tasmania’s North West - this is it! 🎉 Plenty of storage space and is very kid friendly so great for families on holidays too.

  • I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s for 7 years and had wonderful stays but this has to be the best yet! Location, decor, comfort, little touches, ease! You will not regret staying in this incredible place! Thank you!!

    Harriet2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Incredible views!!! From the lounge, the kitchen, the bedroom, the shower, everywhere you look there is the beautiful ocean. The bed is amazing, can hear the ocean while you drift off to sleep and wake in the morning. The place has stylish, luxurious furnishings, has been decorated with flair and creativity, and the amenities are well thought out with everything you could possibly need, I want to live here!

    Rachel2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Clifftop on Park is an amazing place! The views are spectacular from the living area, kitchen, and bedroom and you are just a short walk to the beach where the shelling is great. Glenys provides everything you could want to cook meals, surf, or just relax watching and listening to the waves crash on the shore. We wish it wasn't such a long plane ride to get to Tasmania for us. We would love to come back!

    Terri2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning place, perfect for a weekend getaway.

    Chelsea2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place is easily the best Airbnb I've ever stayed in. Super cozy and warm. One thing that makes it special and different from other places is that it will makes you feel like you are at home. You do not have to pack anything if you are coming to Glenys' place. It is well equipped with electric blanket, Netflix, complete kitchen, big and clean washing machine and dryer, swim suits, surfboards, deodorants and even sanitary pads. Also, DOBBIE THE ORANGE CAT.

    Chen Fung2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Glenys Mary's house was the absolute highlight on a trip of many memorable Tasmania stays on a road trip with my parents. Driving up the hill and spotting the place was a pure delight, which only got better as you move through the house to see the astounding views. On booking the thought of having the sea vista shown in pictures seemed hard to believe, but it's far more amazing in person. The house itself is meticulously styled in a warm, inviting manner and has everything you could need, and Glenys Mary's easy going and communicative approach makes you wish every Airbnb experience was this good. As they say, we wish we could've stayed longer. A lot longer!

    Chris2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house if fantastic and is super cool. Location is amazing, we had a roaring fire as the sun set over the beach below, it really doesn't get any better than that. They had Netflix, Stan & Disney all connected to both the tv in the lounge and the big tv in the master bedroom. We are so glad we got to say here and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Other Airbnb hosts need to pay attention to what these guys are doing, by far the best Airbnb accommodation I have ever stayed in.

    Brian2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was more than beautiful, more than amazing! Too good to be true!! :) We had an amazing stay at Glenys place and everything was thoughtful and generous! The view was wondeful which we all fell in love :) I would recommend everyone to stay here!

  • The accommodation was comfortable and cozy. The warm water came out well and there was no inconvenience at all for simple cooking. There are many tourist brochures around the property, and breakfast and laundry are also available, but it was also good. The host was also friendly and thankful for me taking care of it.

  • Michael's cottage is in a great position for exploring Mole Creek, Devonport and other interesting towns. It's also close enough to Cradle Mountain for day hikes in the national park. Very comfortable accommodation and huge views of Mt Roland.

    Jo2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was great, close to everything and Michael provided great suggestions for what to do. Have a wander around the grounds. Michael's photos are displayed on the walls of the cottage, they took on new meaning once we discovered he was the photographer! Good communication too we were running late due to the ferry crossing but Michael still made us feel welcome.

    Karen2020-03-13T00:00:00Z

  • Michael’s place is a very good choice for visiting Sheffield, Cradle Mountain and all the surroundings. The location is spectacular, on the top of the hill with a beautiful view of Mt. Roland, which you can admire through the window or from the front yard. The place is well equipped and clean. Michael is a very helpful host.

  • Swallowtail has a real bohemian and beachcomber vibe. We arrived to a cozy fire which was a lovely thoughtful welcome. A ( ready and waiting tuned!) guitar was appreciated by the main muso of our duo. As Gregory says, this is not your average sterile Airbnb. The location of the cottage was fantastic- could see waves and just a stroll (or clamber for those choosing more adventurous routes) to beaches, and rocky coves.

    Anna2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gregory's place is beautiful and really just a haven for peace and quiet. It is wonderful being able to hear the waves as you fall asleep and wake up. What I love is the unpretentiousness of the house and the lovely local vibe. All the right amenities and in a gorgeous location.

    Amanda2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • As described. Great location, atmosphere, thoughtful inclusions. The dip in cleanliness for our stay was probably not the norm.

    Ted2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This space is a beautiful cosy shack with lovely views of the ocean

    Zoe2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is gorgeous and filled with character. Loved the location so quiet and able to see the water from inside the house. Also an interesting short wander down to spectacular views of the beach. Love this place. I’ll be back!

    Justine2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Falmouth reminds one of the film “Babettes Feast”. A beautiful take on coastal life set in Denmark - however Falmouth lies in the heart of the East Coast of Tasmania. Greg is a fantastic host and his property is a charming cottage that sits slightly back from the cliff edges and windswept beach. Inside, the fireplace takes centre stage filling the house with love and warmth making it feel like you’ve lived there your whole life... I won’t forget Falmouth.

    Kira2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, right on the beach. The house is charming, cosy and clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend!

    Emily2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute gem. Such a laid back vibe in such a lovely spot. You will definitely need a car to explore the many local beauty spots. The house is filled with many interesting artworks and touches. It has everything you need and more. We met Gregory at the start of our stay who told us he was nearby in case of a problem but he left us to our own devices respecting our privacy. We loved the place.
