Places to stay in Study Butte-Terlingua
Tiny Terlingua is just minutes from the historic Terlingua Ghosttown, conveniently situated between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. This solar powered house is tucked away privately on the corner of five acres with plenty of room for enjoying a campfire, viewing the night sky and watching an amazing sunrise. Come experience tiny house living powered by the sun.
Tiny Terlingua is a solar powered 96 sq.ft. mini-home featuring a kitchenette, an upstairs loft bedroom and a separate bathhouse that is bigger than the house! There is an air conditioner in the house and a swamp cooler in the bathhouse for those scorching desert summer days and nights. There are wall-mounted propane heaters in both for cold nights and brisk mornings. The wrap around porch provides all-day shade for the house and outdoor living space. KITCHEN - The kitchen area is small but has everything you'll need for a short stay - a three burner propane cooktop, a copper farmhouse vessel sink and a mini fridge. A coffee percolator / water kettle is provided as well as a french press for making coffee or tea. Coffee by Big Bend Roasters and a selection of teas are also provided. There are drinking glasses, coffee mugs, small plates, bowls, some flatware, a stainless steel skillet, a small pot and cooking utensils. There is also an outside stove and a grill. LOFT - The bedroom is an upstairs loft which is accessible by ladder. Watch the stars from a super comfy full size mattress with big fluffy pillows. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE CLIMBING A LADDER BEFORE BOOKING THIS RENTAL. Climbing in and out of the loft bed on a narrow, steep ladder requires agility and balance. See the photos in this listing and consider whether you will be able to climb up and down from the loft without putting yourself in danger. There is a twin-size futon downstairs for lounging or for sleeping another guest. Additional pillows and sheets for the futon are available upon request. BATHHOUSE - The bathroom is a separate building just a short walk from the house. Custom vanity, large rainshower and an evaporative cooler make this bathhouse super comfortable. Its just as big as the house! Towels and handsoap are provided but please bring your own shampoo, soap, etc. If you are visiting during the summer months, the bathhouse can get very warm during the hottest part of the day. There are tricks to keeping it cool and I will share them with you when you arrive. OUTSIDE - Although there are solar lights positioned around the house outside, I strongly advise bringing a flashlight to get around after dark. SOLAR POWER - The house is solar-powered and requires some management from guests in order to keep everything working continuously: turning lights off when not in use, turning the swamp cooler off when not in use and keeping the AC set at a low fan setting and higher temp when guests are not there. The AC keeps the house nice and cool and will run throughout the night if you manage the power properly.
Terlingua Ghosttown, Starlight Theatre, Terlingua Trading Post and Posada Milagro Coffee Shop are all a short drive from the house or a pleasant fifteen minute walk. The entrance to Big Bend National Park is about twenty minutes away and Big Bend Ranch State Park HQ is twenty minutes in the other direction. The Cottonwood Store is our local grocery store and carries groceries, some camping gear, automotive supplies and firewood. It is a ten minute drive from the house toward BBNP.
  • Perfect place to stay while we explored Big Bend. The shower was great; perfect after a long day of hiking.

  • Absolutely such a perfect stay, place, and host! All the great comments people have stated before are true and I would totally come stay at the Tiny House again whenever we come back to Terilingua and Big Bend. This has been such a great stay and is probably my favorite Airbnb that I have ever stayed at!

    Justin2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We just got back home from our Big Bend trip. If staying outside of the National Park while trying to take advantages of the local amenities in Terlingua, you can't go wrong with Tiny Terlingua.

    George2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean. Great communication and easy check in. Thank you Carmen for a great stay.

    Bruce2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tiny Terlingua is amazing! I wanted to stay somewhere with easy access to Big Bend and it was perfect for driving to hike each day. The house is tiny, but cozy and had everything I needed. From my bed I could watch the sunset through one window and the sunrise through the next window. A perfect place to stay!

    Amanda2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tiny Terlingua really made our trip to Big Bend special! It is such a cute and comfortable place to spend a few days. It was very clean and had everything we needed. It’s within walking distance to some bars and restaurants which is nice too, but there also a grocery store close by. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Carmen's tiny home was everything I wanted and then some. It was so clean and inviting...I could have stayed there for weeks on end. I was slightly nervous about my little sports car making it through the road leading there, but it's totally possible if you drive slowly and take your time. Carmen went out of her way to tell you about the area and the sites with a very organized binder she put together for you to read through, and even talked about some of the creatures you may run into and what to do if you spot them (pics included)! This was SO helpful for that "just in case" situation. She responded to me fast and was eager to help if I had any trouble. I can tell she is very down to earth and she is as present as you would like her to be. I can't wait for my trip back to Big Bend next year, because this home is the place I will definitely be staying in! Oh and the sunsets and sunrises are a nice touch too. The stars at night cannot be beat!

Las Estrellas (The Stars) 20' Tipi is located just across the street from the Terlingua Ghost Town, restaurants, bars, shopping at the Terlingua Trading Company, and the Saturday Farmer's Market. We are just minutes from the entrance of Big Bend National Park. We have 3 fenced acres and the tipi is located on the far end of the property. Enjoy your privacy, quiet nights under the milky way, and the breathtaking sunrise over the Chisos!
Las Estrellas tipi is one of 3 tipis at the Buzzard's Roost and is located on the far end of our 3 acre property providing privacy, quiet, and unobstructed view of the Chisos mountains. Please note that the is the farthest and most private of our 3 tipis with the most unobstructed views. There is a queen bed, full size futon--futon is a little smaller than a full size bed more suitable for one adult or two children but can fit two very close adults ;),-- coffee station with a Keurig single serve coffee machine, mini refrigerator, outlets for charging computers, phones, etc. In colder months a small space heater and electric blanket is provided. There is also outdoor seating and small fire pit (please provide your own firewood). We have a double shower, one side is completely enclosed and the other side is open. We also have a restroom with flush toilet located right next to the shower house. Both are shared with other renters. Please keep in mind that Las Estrellas tipi is located on the farthest end of the property, roughly 250ft from the restroom and showers. All of the paths to and from the outhouse and showers are lit with solar lights. There is a communal picnic table and also a Coleman propane stove for cooking but please provide your own small bottle of propane. If arriving after dark the path to the tipi is marked with solar lights and small signs. Please remember headlamps, flashlights, and boots! **PLEASE NOTE: Tipis by design are open at the top and along the bottom. If it rains is it more than likely that some things inside will get wet. We provide tarps which are kept under the bed to use to cover your valuables and bedding in case of rain. Also as a reminder, we are in the desert. In the summer months there may or may not be desert critters (bugs, moths, spiders, etc) getting in your tipi from time to time due to the inside lights. If you will be away from your tipi after dark leaving the lights off is the best option to keep them to a minimum.
The Buzzard's Roost is located just off of Hwy 170 across the street from the Ghost Town. The High Sierra Bar and Grill, Starlight Theatre, Terlingua Trading Company, Terlingua Community Garden, and Saturday Farmer's market is a short walk, bike ride, or drive away. The park entrance is just minutes away.
  • Fantasic place, we Loved it

    Mia2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had THE BEST time at The Buzzards Roost and in Terlingua, as a whole! The tipi has an amazing view and even better during sunrise and sunset! My husband loved the Keurig and thoughtful touches of the tipi! We even had a visit from the Chiweenie concierge (Topo Chico!) We will definitely be back!

    Kaitlyn2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • You should not miss the experience of staying in a tipi. It's awesome! The interior's got everything you need for a comfortable stay - Keurig coffee maker, blankets, towels, fan, heated blankets, space heater and mini fridge. It's also very clean. The showers is practical and tidy. There's an option for an open shower and a covered shower. The covered shower was perfect when we got there and was very windy. The restroom also had heater ( Wow!). Anna was also great about instructions how to get there and share all information about the surrounding shops, restaurants and activity. Thank you very much, Anna!

  • What an experience! This tipi is awesome, fully loaded with a heater and heated blankets when the unexpected cold front blows through. Can’t wait to stay again!

  • Awesome space. Loved the vibe.

    Ashley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing and we loved all of the local tips about things to do and places to eat! We experienced all kinds of weather, including rain and near freezing temperatures, but all we had was some big drips at the most in the tent. The tarp and space heater were used and worked wonderfully! The spaces were very well kept and accommodating. We definitely want to return and will recommend to others!

  • Fantastic space in a convenient location. The trailer is close to Big Bend and the Terlingua ghost town area. The trailer was spotless and had a lot of little touches that showed the Molly and Dan wanted their guests to feel welcome. Dan had lots of advice on the local area. For example, I mentioned that I wanted to see a road runner and he put out a water bowl to see if any would stop by. The bed was super comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

    Brian2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect base camp for exploring the Big Bend National & State Parks. I couldn’t have been more impressed with this property and the hospitality of the host. Just off the road in the center of Terlingua, you have easy access to restaurants, but also a trailer that has all the amenities of home. Will be 100% be returning here.

  • The Yellow Submarine is an oasis in the desert. From the sunrise views over the mountains to the colorful sunsets and the star filled night sky. Super clean and comfortable quarters to stay. Within walking distance to the High Sierra bar and grill. Dan and Molly have covered every detail to make your stay enjoyable and secure. Looking forward to returning, with my daughters. Thank you Dan and Molly!

    Alfred2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Yellow Submarine was perfect. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook a few meals. It’s very close to the Starlight. The landscaping was lovely and a great place to hang out.

  • Dan was a fantastic host! He made our trip to Terlingua memorable and we look forward to another trip back. The rental was comfy and clean, exactly as described. Location was a perfect drive from Big Bend and Terlingua Ghost Town. The outdoor “patio” was perfect for gathering around a campfire, grilling, and gazing at the stars.

    Christina2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was wonderful. Better than expected. It was nicely decorated. The books are a nice touch. We stayed there for 3 days and the quiet definitely kept us away from using our phones. The view of the Chisos mountains in the morning is amazing. We definitely hope to stay again.

    Karina2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute place to stay and easy access to Terlingua Ghost Town and Big Bend. We truly enjoyed our stay and how responsive and hospitable the hosts were. We will be back!!

    Rachel2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The yellow trailer was the perfect location to explore terlingua and big bend and was such a beautiful landscape and cozy home to come back to. Unwinding in the hammock after a long hike watching the desert sunset and stargazing around the fire our host Daniel built for us city slickers were truly highlights of our west Texas adventure. The bed was so comfy and we woke up totally refreshed to glorious sunrises and tasty coffee and tea options. Thank you for an outstanding stay!

Step back to a simpler time in this comfortably updated authentic ruin in the heart of the ghost town. Built by miners a hundred years ago, its spacious porch affords the best view of the Chisos Mountains and Big Bend National Park.
The cabin accommodates two people. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting loft, a bedroom, a bathroom and a spacious porch with a sitting area and a day bed. Please note that the bathroom is separate from the house, but only a few steps out the back door. An excellent base of operations for all outdoorsy folk.
It is only a few minutes away from La Posada Milagro coffee shop with free wifi. There are two restaurants and bars within a few blocks, The Starlight Theatre and the High Sierra. Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park are both within a short drive.
  • I loved staying at Betty's charming place! The outdoor bedroom was a perfect compromise for my friend who wanted to camp. The views are amazing, and the location makes it easy to access Big Bend as well as the fun atmosphere in Terlingua. This is also a great place to just hang out and relax. I spent time up in the loft reading while watching the sunset, and it was beautiful. Betty responded to all of my texts immediately and made me feel very welcome. I felt like I was staying in a friend's home.

Casita Blanca is centrally located. It is 1.4 miles to Big Bend National Park, across the street from The Cottonwood Grocery and 6.5 miles from the ghost town. There are stunning views of Santa Elena's canyon ridge and Mexico to the West. The front porch is perfect for watching the sun set and rise. The back patio is a great place to grill out and relax. Recently remodeled this 70's house offers many amenities including a flush toilet, grid electricity, city water, a full kitchen and a shower.
This house is a part of Terlingua history. There have been recent major upgrades throughout the house however the majority of the construction on this house took place in the 70's. We hope you enjoy the original decor theme and the history this home has to offer.
The Cottonwood grocery store is just across the road and offers just about anything you may need. The only gas station in town is just one mile North on 118 from us. You may enjoy dining out at one of our great restaurants or bars located just a few miles west into the ghost town. Interested in going on a guided horseback ride with a cowboy/girl? Big Bend Stable is a mile north of us on highway 118.
  • Very nice place with amazing view. My children had a blast playing board games, watching the amazing sunset from the front porch, looking at the stars at night from the patio. We had never seen so many stars in our lives. We also sang around the fire place and toasted marshmallows. This place is absolutely amazing and I have recommended to my FB and instagram friends. :)

    Jin2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location. Good size for properties in this area. Outdoor space is great to explore or just sit and watch the stars. It’s modest but very comfortable With some unique touches that made our stay a memorable one. We had 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids) and the casita coped well. We loved every minute.

This adobe is a charming guesthouse in the heart of the historic Terlingua Ghosttown. Wake to a full view of the sunrise over the Chisos Mountains and be within walking distance to our local shops, bars, restaurants, historical sites, art galleries, and cafe (they offer great coffee and wifi). The adobe blocks and stucco used to build this guesthouse were made locally. The cement floors and stucco were mixed by hand. The adjacent Boathouse Bar & Restaurant is currently closed for renovations.
You will be located directly in the center of our beautiful town. This space is great for multiple couples traveling together, families with kiddos, or for co-workers as there are two bedrooms separated by a door.
You will be located in the heart of our historic ghost town. Terlingua is said to be "The Last Frontier". Folks come here to escape crowds and commercialism and to bask in the beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert. You will be within walking distance to great local shops, cafe, galleries, restaurants, bars and historical markers.
  • Great place

    Nevena2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Molly’s home was beautiful and convenient. We loved that it was walking distance to Starlight, the general store, and La Posada Milagro. The window AC units in each room keep the place cool and comfortable. The beds were SO cozy. Be aware that there is no common space inside (just the two bedrooms and a bathroom), but that didn’t matter much to us since we spent most of our days at Big Bend or hanging out at the picnic table outside. We would absolutely book this home again!

    Becca2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and location for convenience. Restaurant and shops all around but still quiet enough to have some privacy. Not far from Big Bend as well. Wish we had booked longer but Molly was very helpful in other suggestive pieces of property if we did. Thanks!

    Nicole2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place, quite, easy to find and the perfect distance from BBNP and activities in Terlingua. The beds were very comfortable and much welcomed after a long day of hiking. Nice large porch and chairs that over looks BBNP to the west, great for drinking coffee in the morning or a cocktail in the afternoon. The thick adobe walls added to a very cool and secluded atmosphere, which made the inside very comfortable and cozy. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

    Ash2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The adobe was an unexpected delight in a dusty land. We love to retreat from the city to BBNP and escape into nature. The adobe is close to all the gems of Terlingua Ghost Town. We have stayed in Marfa and it is not near as charming as TGT. Molly provides lovely linens and comfortable beds. The rooms are large and she has taken great care in curating unique furnishings. The outdoor space is perfect for stargazing and enjoying a cocktail. Worth every penny!

    Sara2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were in Terlingua for a wedding and the location of Molly’s place was absolutely perfect. It’s right in the middle of town and we could walk to everything until we were ready to drive to the park to hike. Clean, comfortable, easy check-in, and the heaters kept it warm enough at night (We heard this was not the case with the accommodations of some of the other guests). Great place to watch the sunrise over coffee at the outdoor table

    Claire2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was a swell staying at this AirBnb! Definitely worth the money! Molly was very responsive and informative! Made our vacation at Big Bend easy!

    Anil2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Molly’s place made the perfect home base for our trip to Big Bend National Park. The outdoor patio area was especially nice in the evenings and early mornings. It was an added bonus to be right in Terlingua Ghost Town! We’d definitely stay here again given the chance.

  • My sister and I stayed here while we visited Big Bend National Park, and it was perfect! So close to the park but also near a few shops and places to eat. The airstream was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed.

  • Excellent location in Terlingua, about 55 minutes to Chisos. Great space, amazing beds, spacious shower. We really enjoyed having all the appliances! Excellent stay!

  • Great retro airstream in Terlingua. Close to Big Bend National Park. We stayed one night, and it was a fun spot in the middle of this quirky ghost town. The little patio area was awesome for star gazing. Highly recommend staying here. Some good restaurants nearby too.

Terlingua is a small historic Ghost Town with unique restaurants, an internet cafe, an art gallery, historic mining ruins and cemetery. It's known for its music scene and friendly gathering of locals and visitors on the Starlight Theatre's porch for nightly sunset viewings and impromptu musical performances.
  • We loved our time at this Air BnB! The location was convenient -- near the National Park and the restaurants located in the 'ghost town'. It was very clean, well built, with numerous thoughtful design details. I found the expansive view off the back patio ideal for reading and relaxing. I have indoor allergies which often trouble me when traveling but this property was very allergy friendly. I slept great on the memory foam mattress. Tana and Dan were terrific hosts! Friendly, quick to respond to communication, and full of helpful suggestions about the area.

  • This is our second time to stay at the casita. It is a great location, close to everything but secluded enough to provide tranquility with an absolutely amazing view. The casita is lovely and comfortable and Dan & Tana are fabulous hosts with an abundance of knowledge of the area. This is where you want to stay.

    Charles2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must stay do to location, host, accomodations, etc. Top destination stay in Terlingua. Dan and Tana are incredible host, human beings and very knowledgeable on the local spots.

  • Wonderful little house. Beautiful view and delightful hosts.

    Alyce2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We could have stayed in a mediocre motel in Terlingua, but for about the same price, we stayed in this lovely one-bedroom house. We were meeting friends who were camping in Rio Grande Village in Big Bend National Park, so we did a lot of driving, but places to stay are few and far between and we got the best. We enjoyed having a pleasant little house to ourselves to come back to each evening, not far from places to eat. Tana gave us some good suggestions on restaurants and we took advantage of them. The house is on a rough dirt road, but don't let that scare you. Our little Toyota Corolla had no problem driving in and out.

    Kathy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had the BEST time staying with Dan and Tana! The spot is exquisite and the hospitality beyond compare. They were so welcoming even setting up our chiminea each day to have a warm fire to watch the sunset. Both are so knowledgable about the area and the park itself that we feel that we were able to make the most out of Big Bend National Park and our stay in Terlingus Ghost Town. We will definitely be back. Stay well and thank you, Dan and Tana!

    Sharon2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say..? Perfect. Amazing place. Amazing hospitality. Perfect location. Amazing view. The view alone is worth a $1 million. I highly recommend staying here. I will be staying here every time I am in Terlingua.

    Damaso2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is super cute! The back porch looks out into nature. Excellent privacy! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Great getaway. The weather was perfect. Right next to everything in terlingua.

  • We had so much fun staying in Retro Rosie! Very quaint and comfortable. The beds were great and we slept well. Terlingua ghost town is very remote, so make sure to bring most of what you need. But it is quiet and peaceful and extremely convenient for visiting Big Bend. We look forward to coming back again!

  • As a first experience of staying in an Airstream, it was great to experience a retro one, which has been lovingly maintained. Lovely views, comfy beds, good fridge and freezer, cute bijou bathroom, extra blankets which we needed in Feb, and a feeling of being out in the wilds in a time gone by. A wonderful getaway.

  • Pictures don’t do Willow House justice. The landscape is amazing but the a accommodations are just as great. The common main house works perfectly and provides a great place to share stories or just relax. The rooms are comfortable and immaculate. I’ll be back.

  • What a great desert hideaway! Close to everything, and felt so far. My friend and I had a lovely stay.

    Stephanie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Willow House is amazzzing! We wanted to stay here forever and never leave. The views are breath-taking. The design of the whole property is beautiful- from the communal area to the individual rooms, everything is very thoughtful. The perfect Terlingua desert vibe. Will definitely be coming back and would recommend to anyone going out to the Big Bend area to stay here. It is so worth every penny.

    Megan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Willow House is a special place. The simplistic style allows for the unique landscape to be the real star of the show. Little touches are awesome as well- art, cool showers (including an outdoor shower), comfy bed, plush robes, etc. Very close to Big Bend, so we hiked during the day, and then looked forward to coming back in the evening to relax and cook in the community kitchen. Meeting others staying there is an added perk as well- diverse groups from all over coming together to cook is really cool. Highly recommended for your stay in the Terlingua/Big Bend area!

    Whitney2020-03-12T00:00:00Z

Our place is 2 miles from the Terlingua Ghostown with its magnificent views. Its easy to get to many restaurants & bars. Great shopping and outdoor recreation outfitters are nearby. We are near the national and state parks of the Big Bend. Close to fuel, grocery, bank & more. Our Casita offers an ambience that is over the top indoors and out. It offers quality and comfort. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. We have a full house generator for power outages!
The casita is 202 square feet but we have utilized the space well and it is more than adequate for the average persons. There is walk-around room on both sides of the bed. The bed is a new 10" Serta mattress. The lavatory counter has room for your toiletries. The chaise lounge will adjust to the position most comfortable for reclining or lounging. The shower fixture has a hand-held personal spray as well as the wall mount. There are solar lights around the patio. The mini-fridge is large enough to hold your cold & frozen items. The satellite tv has local news from Midland/Odessa + top 200. The outdoor seating/dining is great for morning coffee and star gazing at night. You will be very comfortable in this space. If you are traveling with more then 2 guests we do have another rental casita on property that may be available, please check Santa Vaca Casita availability or inquire directly.
We are on 5 acres, there are only 2 houses you will see in the near surroundings, they are not that close. We are less than 2 miles from Ghostown and all the amenities there. We are 5 miles from the Study Butte area and about 14 miles from Lajitas.
  • After ten days of staying in hotels it was such a welcome change to arrive at Cinco Circle Casita and receive a warm welcome from our host. The casita had everything we needed along with many thoughtful touches. It is very well located to Big Bend and also some excellent restaurants. We enjoyed relaxing outside on the patio after a day of hiking and exploring. A very pleasant place to just be, we could not have asked for more. Jimmy and Barbara are wonderful hosts!

A luxe bunkroom accommodating up to four people. It has a private bathroom with a shower, plenty of space and a big fridge and microwave just outside of the door. You also have access to the outdoor kitchen that has the most amazing views!! At request you can also use the laundry room. There is a coffee shop on premises, open for breakfast and lunch. We have fire pits in our courtyards. We have a caretaker on the premises and often Mimi, the owner is home next to the room.
  • What a pleasant surprise! We stayed in Mimi’s bunk house and the place was perfect. Best views in terlingua. Comfy beds and nice extras like providing bottled water and cookies for those late night munchies. We will stay again next time in town.

  • The most spectacular views...a lovely, cozy room to relax after long days in the park. Excellent amenities like organic coffee, Ice, Lotion and firewood. wonderful kitchen to use or go for great food down the hill. Would totally recommend this sweet place. Loved it so much I'm going back next week!

    Hillary2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location up on hill so you get nice view of Terlingua and Big Bend National Park. Quaint property that sleeps 4 if you need to, but very comfortable for me as a lone traveler. Refrigerator comes with provided ice. Nice shared areas. Private bathroom/shower. Complimentary water, cookies and coffee. It was very quiet up on the hill even though there was some large public festival going on down the hill with live music and lots of people. I did not hear any of it. Very close to Starlight Theater which is a good restaurant/bar with live music on weekends. Easy walk over there. It was very clean, and she had large, fluffy towels and added touch of robes if you wanted. I would definitely stay here again.

It took my husband nine winters to rebuild the ruin from the miners back in the 40's. It has a 10" memory full size mattress, a light, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, microwave, and an outdoor covered patio area with a refrigerator. It is rustic and special at the same time. It has an electric heater for cool nights and a small AC for warmer ones. There is a fire pit when burn bans aren't in place and an old kettle to BBQ.
The ruin is located in the Ghost Town and within walking distance to restaurants, gift shops, and bars. It was rebuilt by my husband Joe, it took 9 years (winters) to finally get it roofed with a cement floor.
La Posada Milagro (breakfast spot in the Ghost Town) has free wifi and makes a wonderful breakfast. The Starlight Theater is great for live nightly music and dinner....the El Dorado also offers nightly music and dinner along with La Kiva (everybody needs to visit La Kiva just for the architecture alone with huge sandstone rocks and old wood tables). Also the Rustic Iron BBQ take out is very good located 3 miles down the road towards Study Butte.
  • Place is super clean and Sue is great!

  • Sue’s ghost town ruin was cozy! It was walking distance to a few restaurants and bars, and it had its own parking space. It was about an hour drive to Big Bend National Park. The room was clean and the common bathrooms were clean as well. Everyone in the compound was very friendly too!

  • Great place with great people

    Nicholas2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so great. We easily drove into the park each day, did done adventuring, then came back to another adventure in Terlingua. Staying at the ruin was much preferred to staying in the park overnight. We had more privacy, everything we needed that we may have forgotten, and met a few other awesome travelers as well. Sue is great, and the campfire, sunrise, sunset, and starry sights will forever be pleasant memories for us.

Glamping off-grid, Eco-friendly cabin. Close to everything! 5 miles to Big Bend National park. Stunning desert views of the Chisos mountains! Porch with living/ kitchen/dining area. This is a private remote sanctuary, yet only a mile or so from restaurants, grocery store, bank & gas. Newly built rustic cabin is solar powered w/ hot water in the shower, dorm size fridge w/ac/heat. Enjoy morning coffee or afternoon shade in the double swing, amazing sunrises, sunsets & those famous starry nights!
Curious about off grid living? The cabin is not connected to any city utilities, therefore, we don't experience the quite common water outages and power outages that those on the the grid here do, which often happens during peak times such as holidays. Water is limited to 300 gallons (Plenty, but please be mindful of your use. That's the whole idea!) We haul more in if needed (about a 2.5 hour chore. So far, no one has run out of water during their stay, so if you do please be patient as we get this done for you). The shower is heated by an on demand propane hot water heater. In the summer the water storage tank warms up nicely and you don't even need the "hot" water in the shower. The electricity is provided by the sun. Due to limited power, there are no plugs for coffee makers or blow dryers, etc. You can use the provided tea kettle on the stove to heat water to make French press coffee (French Press provided). There's plenty of lighting in the cabin, bath house/outhouse and the porch. There is a 4 outlet electronic device charging station for cell phones in the cabin. There is AC and heat inside the cabin and a dorm size fridge on the porch in the kitchen. You may want to bring an ice chest for extra cold storage for food or drinks. The composting toilet is clean, odor free. Water conservation is vital in the desert, as it should be everywhere. So far, all my guests have felt very comfortable and found the off grid functions to be an easy adjustment, educational and had no issues. *Basic pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates, silverware, plastic drinking cups, cork screw, can opener and ceramic coffee mugs are provided. This is not a gourmet kitchen!
Private and remote, yet close to everything! The view of the Chisos Mountains will not disappoint here. Big Bend National Park is only 5 miles away. Big Bend Ranch State Park is 20 miles away. The Cottonwood Grocery store, gas, bank, post office and restaurants are just a mile or so away. The lively town of Terlingua is just five miles away. Mel's Place is quiet and safe with excellent dark sky nights for star photography.
  • Amazing clean cabin. We had an unforgettable experience in Big Bend, and the cabin was welcoming to come home to. Definitely would recommend staying here to anyone! Great location and beautiful sun/moon rise

    Dalton2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Mel's place! Her place has so many great personal and unique touches. She was very accommodating and helpful with anything we needed. We enjoyed cooking over the fire and enjoying the mountain views.

    Kadee2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mel was an excellent host and had the cabin perfectly set up for us to arrive. It was cozy and comfortable and we slept so good.

    Gabriel2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mel's place was great. The sunrise view as you lay in bed is spectacular! The stars at night are incredible. Everything is as described and there is a lot to read, but it's very thorough and we appreciated it. The only thing that I really wasn't too sure about was the outhouse. I really wasn't sure what I was getting ourselves into, but it's doable. Everything else is absolutely worth the stay!

    Alma2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place. True peacefulness. It is very much off the grid and return you get great views, completed silence and amazing nighttime stars. If the weather does not cooperate, you may encounter challenges with the road so build in a slight time buffer when trying to leave. But is worth it. We loved it.

    Stephanie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely views and a very comfortable space. I love the absolute quiet during the evenings and nights. Fun and welcoming decorating :)

    Katy2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • There’s more to say about this place than i could possibly convey in a review. However, I’ll try to hit the important points. Hiking: you’re roughly 45-65 minutes from lost mine trail in big bend. Views: you’re in a little depression (low ground not sad) and have views of multiple buttes and mesa’s and the sunrise over them. Location: close to a little gas station and 10 mins or so from the ghost town. Lessons: screen shot directions and text Mel before you leave alpine as depending on your carrier you might not have consistent service between alpine and the house. I couldn’t recommend this place more. I’ve traveled near and far and mels place changed my life.

    Lukas2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cabin with some of the most scenic views that I’ve ever come across. The space is cozy and functional and the location is unbeatable— a few minutes into town and right up the road from Big Bend. We loved our stay at Mel’s Place!

Primitive campsites, fire pits & views you want to see. Quiet & remote, yet only a mile from town amenities-gas, grocery store, LP refill & exchange, bank, coin showers behind Big Bend Resorts motel, water fill station, Jeep tours, laundromat & restaurants. The lively town of Terlingua, 5 miles. Big Bend NP, 5 miles. Big Bend Ranch SP, 20 miles. High clearance vehicles required for campsites 4 & 5. Small off-road campers are ok. No RV's, sorry. The outhouse is nice, way better than you imagine!
The pin on the map is close to the campground. You will get the directions once payment is received. Price is $15 per person (free for children 5 yrs old and under) & 1 tent per night for a primitive camp site with fire pit. Site 1 can accommodate 1 vehicle only, 1 (10x10ish) tent only in the designated tent area (within the rock border) Do not set up your tent outside the designated area!! Only park in the designated parking spot for your site. If you plan to bring a bigger tent contact me to check availability of a larger site. Please pay for all guests you are bringing. *If you bring unregistered guests you will have to leave the property. Composting toilet/outhouse available at site 4. There are public restrooms/coin showers one mile away at the back of Big Bend Resorts motel. The Cottonwood store has a good selection of groceries/camp supplies and you can fill water jugs there. There's 20 acres to explore, but do not take my plants or rocks! The back property line is behind sites 1 and 2 and continues behind the cabin. Please don't trespass, my neighbor will call the cops. No joke. She is not forgiving about this. If you bring children, be sure they understand not to cross that line! Off Road /high clearance camper trailers are welcome. Low clearance campers/trailers can not access the campground. Seriously, don't try it. Bring your own camping supplies and firewood. Collecting dead or live wood on the property is not allowed (Plants, alive and dead hold the desert floor in place and prevent erosion) The store at Study-Butte a mile away sells firewood (if not sold out) as well as The Cottonwood Grocery store a few miles away. Stop at the Walmart in Fort Stockton on your way down to get firewood, or find some in Alpine. Secure your tent and gear! You can not rely on the forecast to predict the winds that can come up in the desert out of nowhere. Never leave your gear, or chairs around the fire pit when you leave or go to bed. I expect campers to respect my property and leave as good or better than you found it. Please practice Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly, pack it in pack it out principals. If you don't know what that means, look it up before you arrive. The desert and my property are pristine, please do your part to keep it that way. Thank you in advance. Note: if you leave cigarette butts on the ground or trash behind, I will leave you a bad review and you won't be allowed back. I have no time or patience for bad behavior. Do not have campfires in windy conditions. Use common sense. Keep an eye on the forecast and realize that rain to the north can cause the dry creeks on my property to flash flood and you may not be able to leave till it recedes, which is usually pretty quick. This is the desert so it doesn't rain much or often. The rainy season is during the summer months when not many people are camping anyway. ALWAYS stay aware of the weather just in case.
The view of the Chisos mountains is about the best around. Front and center is Emory Peak, the highest point in the national park at 7800 ft. To the left of that is Casa Grande and to the right is the South Rim. Good hiking at Indian Head is less than a mile past my place and boasts great views, interesting rock formations, native American pictographs, etc. Trail is suitable for hiking, horses and mountain bikes.
  • Great place located near everything we needed, will definitely come back!

    Patrick2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A nice campsite with a fantastic view of the Chisos mountains. A small fireplace at the site, and a picnic table and chair swing a short walk away that made for a wonderful night of stargazing. A great place to stay for sure.

    Andrew2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed the breathtaking view and relatively good location to the entrance of Big Bend. Mel also accepted my request last minute when the campsites inside the park filled up, which I really appreciated! You could see the other people who were staying on her property at different campsites, but you weren't too close to them and had your own space. It was a little scary for me trying to get to the site in the dark (you do have to take several side roads and go down a big ditch), but the fact that I was able to follow the directions using Mel's information shows that she really knows how to guide people to her campsite.

    Silvia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The absolute best combination of stars and sunrises. Waking up in a desert with the sun rising over the Chisos mountains was one of the special moments of my lifetime that I will not forget soon. Mel was super accommodating to travel and camping styles. I highly recommend this spot.

A sedan can make it easily, but higher clearance is better. Off-road trailers less than 14 ft okay. Primitive walk in campsite, rock fire pit & stunning views. You will park 40 ft from the camping area at this site. Quiet & remote. Only a mile from amenities like gas, grocery store, bank, coin showers/bathrooms & restaurants. The lively town of Terlingua, 5 miles away. Big Bend National Park, 5 miles. Big Bend Ranch State Park, 20 miles. Nice outhouse (much better than you imagine) & the stars!
The pin on the map is close to the campground. You will get the directions a day or two before your arrival via Airbnb email. Price is $15 per person/ per night (kids 5 & under are free) for a primitive camp site with fire pit & cooking grate. Trash dumpster on site. Site 4 can be a group site good for 3 ground tents and can accommodate 3 vehicles in the parking area. You will park and transport your gear approximately 40 feet to the camping area from the parking area, over fairly smooth flat terrain. **You will need heavy duty tent stakes at this site!!** Note: For those bringing children, please be aware this site is large, but the east perimeter is a sheer long drop to a creek bed below. Our Bachelor is in the heart of Terlingua so you can walk to a variety of places to eat. Filled with a fun Coca Cola decor it's cozy and fun, with the shower room just steps away. Our Bachelor is THE spot to sit and watch the sun set in the East as well as the west! There are no streetlights in the Ghost Town so as the sun fades, the stars will begin to shine and the Milky Way wash across the sky just for you. So if your looking for a laid back time, or an adventure, come enjoy.
With a living area, kitchenette, bedroom area all in one you will want to kick back and enjoy your stay. A fire pit and out door seating is handy too! Walk and rock hunt on 5 acres as well as use our out door kitchen, the Hobbit House just down the hill for a change of scene.
You will be within walking distance of many things to do, such as, restaurants and bars some of which offer live music most nights. Tour the Old Ghost Town and visit the Historic Terlingua Cemetery, the Perry mine site and Perry Mansion. Visit the Big Bend National & Big Bend State parks located just a few minutes away. Take a drive on fm 170 west toward Presidio Tx. along the Rio Grande for more spectacular views. don't forget the Famous Chihuahua Races a must see in March, and of course the World Famous Chili Cook off on the first weekend in November. Don't forget to check out Dani's art at her Painted Feather Gallery Too!
  • Great place to stay while exploring big bend np!

    Jae2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great space! Perfect for our needs and close to Ghost Town and Starlight Theater. Amazing stars and sunrise!

    Ken2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Good stay, good location. Close to Big Bend, great taco joint across the street, Danilea and Sam were very helpful and nice. One bed is a very comfortable firm memory foam, the other is a much softer coil mattress. Basic accommodations and a great, affordable home base for our daily excursions. The unit was very clean and very simple. We are glad we stayed there!

    Jane2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, off the beaten path, alternative to a traditional hotel. Sam and Dani were fantastic hosts.

    Miranda2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Just as described. Close to the park. Close to restaurants.

    Jodie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We used this place as our base camp for Big Bend. Dani and Sam were very nice and accommodating. It is quirky and fun like Terlingua. It is also walking distance to the Starlight theater which is a great place to unwind after a day of hiking. We would definitely stay there again.

    Kirk2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was not your conventional AirBnB, but we knew that going in. Our stay was really enjoyable. I encourage anyone to give this unique AirBnB a try, as long as they are comfortable with the idea of not having their very own bathroom, right in the unit. Sam made check-in painless and worry-free. The hosts turned this adorable camper into something really special. We'd come back again any time we find ourselves in the area.

    Pete2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • if you're heading to Big Bend National Park, you can't get much closer than Dani's retro trailer. We loved chatting with Dani and Sam, who are as cool as their trailers (VERY cool). Staying in their Coca-Cola-themed abode was like an experience in and of itself. And the park is great, too!

The trailers are a cozy retreat but the heart of this space is the luxurious porch with beautiful views of Big Bend National Park, and at night, the milky way. You will be within walking distance from the Ghost Town yet feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. We have WiFi to keep you in touch with the world but recommend the silence and connections to nature that Caravans have to offer. An evening at our firepit that sits directly under the milky way is the perfect ending to your day.
Think of camping with all the amenities~ WiFi, shower indoor or out, kitchen, refrigeration, electricity, air conditioning, sailboat style flush toilet, additional bathhouse, nice bedding, all available for you to live in or use if you choose to camp. The property has two adjacent trailers with a separate bathhouse between them, including an outdoor shower. The trailers are never rented to separate parties. Each trailer is perfectly suitable for 2 people with additional fold out beds in the living room space. There is a futon in one of the trailers, making it comfortable sleeping for 4 people and increasing the party size to 6 total. Each trailer has a private bathroom and both trailers share the bathhouse and outdoor shower. Again, the trailer will only be rented to one party to insure your privacy. When more than 2 people book, the second trailer will then be ready for you to use. On cloudless nights Big Bend has an incredibly dark night sky, free of light pollution, offering a full canopy of stars.  You may also enjoy sleeping under the covered porch where you will find a bed on wheels that is perfect on cool, star filled nights. The road to the trailer is an all weather dirt road most of the year. July through September is our rainy season and it can get muddy and on occasion, flash flooding happens in the arroyos. You don't need 4x4 and high clearance is not necessary, but some clearance is. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
You are within walking distance from the Historic Ghost Town, Starlight Theater, Y Poco Mas, Music on the porch, human interaction, yet you will feel far away with the large views of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park, 15 minute drive to the west entrance. The lack of lights in our area make the skies feel so big you could fall into them. Hiking, biking trails leave right from your front door.
  • You simply cannot beat the views with the outdoor living/dining space. We had coffee every morning outside watching the sun rise over the mountains, and dinner every evening watching the sunset on the mountains. End the day with a campfire under the stars, it was a perfect place to stay while exploring Big Bend National Park!

    Kenneth2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Outdoor kitchen is the bomb. It was great family camping without all the packing of tent camping. We all loved our stay

    Steve & Julie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fun place and Kim was prompt with her responses to my questions. Terlingua is a funky town with dispersed housing so you can have a big sky and plenty of privacy. Only wish we could have stayed longer and the weather was warm enough that we could have enjoyed the outdoor kitchen. Look for the hula hoops too!

    C2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kym's place. We were afforded the best hospitality and responsive communications ever! Thanks Kym! The location is remote enough to see the night skies beautifully but still close enough to get into the park pretty quickly. Everything you need is available at this stay including kitchen ware, spices, coffee maker and extras. Stores are close enough by to get whatever else you may want. The bed was very comfy and we had plenty of towels, etc. We would definitely stay again.

    Barbara2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kym and her space are wonderful! 10/10 amazing space. The view is phenomenal and the amenities are wonderful! A full set up to enjoy and relax during your stay! And the bed warmers are just delightful!! I can not recommend this space enough!

    Brenda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time at Kym's and it was just as lovely as ever! Everything you need in a lovely and convenient location. I had broken my foot right before our trip (lucky me) and so was at the caravan even more than usual and it was perfection. My broken foot really appreciated being able to post up on the outside bed so I could feel like I was in nature while I recuperated. If you have minor mobility issues like I did this trip you will do fine at the caravan. There are some minor steps but nothing I couldn't handle even with a cast and a crutch. Thanks again for the hospitality, Kym!

    Jenny2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay! A funky but clean trailer, with a great outdoor space for stargazing at night (even an outdoor bed!). Kym is extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions about restaurants and hikes nearby. I would definitely come back here!

    Mikeschroer2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay couldn't have been any better. We spent most of our time in the park and it was a great location for that. The town of Terlingua was also really cool, we had dinner there every night. Cooking breakfast using the outdoor kitchen was a huge highlight and the reason I will always want to stay here when coming to Big Bend, and we will be back!! The kitchen was super stocked and I was impressed by the quality of kitchenware provided, normally I bring my own kitchen knives and frying pan when staying in a vacation rental, no need here! I enjoyed the cleaning supplies she provided, she uses Mrs. Meyers products which is what I prefer at home so I was pleasantly surprised. I was also impressed with the comfort of the bed, real hotel quality bedding. Myself and my 6'4" husband slept great! I could go on and on because literally everything was amazing and absolutely perfect. This was one of the best trips we've ever had. We got back last night and I'm already looking into when we can fit in another trip to Big Bend! GO! BOOK IT!! AND STAY HERE!!!

This is a 1949 Shasta trailer that is permanently mounted and restored with a large deck overlooking the Chisos Mountains. It is co-located with our other casita Casa De Aero also listed.
This casita has a separate driveway accessible from HWY 170. It has a separate shower house just outside the bedroom door. It has a closed indoor shower and an adjacent private outdoor shower with a view of the mountains. We are located approximately 7 miles from the west entrance to Big Bend National Park and one mile from the Terlingua ghost town. The Casita is cozy for 2 or may sleep 2 adults in separate beds or max 2 couples if you know each other well. The main bed is a double and the sleeper couch is also double size. The views are breathtaking from the deck. Terlingua offers great restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and entertainment. Check out the state park also. We offer wifi, city water and advice on the best places to see. We are co-located with Casa de Aero if you are booking with other parties. Please note that the address listed here on Airbnb will take you to the ghost town 1.5 miles away. Please follow the directions you will receive when you book. We are unable to change the address since there is no database for maps in Terlingua. Also, there is a google earth map on the last picture that will give you some idea of the location.
We are located in the heart of Terlingua, one mile from the ghost town and 4 miles from services in Study Butte. We are approximately 10 miles from the Big Bend National Park entrance. We have some of the finest restaurants and a grocery store that rivals most larger cities.
  • So fun to stay here! Close to the park and the little town and great open skies at night!

  • The Terlingua Longhorn was a godsend on spring break week in Big Bend. The camper was cozy and well-appointed, the outdoor shower so nice after days in the park and it was close to Terlingua and places to eat (which we skipped in favor of home-made burritos out on the deck with the chiminea). I so highly recommend it!

    Spencer2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful, quiet and comfortable space to serve as a staging area prior to our long backpacking trip in Big Bend. I was a little bummed about the semi-outdoor shower when booking the property but, the water gets very hot and the owners thought ahead and put a small waterproof heater in there. It was one of the best showers I ever had looking out over the desert at the mountain range. I can’t even think of how many Air BnBs I’ve stayed in with bbq grills that had empty propane tanks. This one, however, had backups of everything replaceable (firewood, propane, coffee creamer). The owners really thought of everything making it more comfortable and convenient than staying in my own home.

Casa Vista Grande sits on a hilltop with spectacular unobstructed views of Big Bend NP and the Chisos Mtns. It's located .6 mile south of Hwy 170 on 100 acres and 6 miles to the entrance of BBNP. The Rio Grande River, mountain biking, hiking, and stables are nearby. Our newly remodeled 1115 sq. ft. adobe house features one bedroom with a king bed, a queen Murphy bed in the spacious living area, vaulted ceilings, a full kitchen, a bathroom with tiled shower, a fire pit, and two covered porches.
Casa Vista Grande has one of the most incredible views of BBNP from any home in the Terlingua/Study Butte area. If you desire quiet, solitude, night skies, and spacious living area...and yet want to be just a few minutes from town, then you will be pleased with Casa Vista Grande. The Big Bend area is officially designated as one of the darkest places in America. This hilltop location provides stargazers an ideal vantage point to view the night sky and the Milky Way. The sunrise and sunset views of the Chisos from Casa Vista Grande are unparalleled, making for an ideal location for photographers. We provide a camping cot with pad and a sleeping bag for adventuresome guests to sleep on the porch or under the stars where the coyotes howl and the owls hoot.
Casa Vista Grande is located in Terlingua, Texas, United States.
  • I will attempt to put into words how fortunate we felt staying at Casa VistavGrande during our Spring Break vacation. We made our reservations in 2019 so we never imagined that we would spending our time here while a global pandemic was unfolding. It was the ideal place to escape, be isolated during such an unsettling time. From the instant we made our reservation in 2019 Dan was quick to reply and continued with that type of communication throughout our stay. His directions to his place were spot on since it is completely off the grid. Additionally, he provided excellent advice on what to do in the Terlingua area as well as Big Bend National Park. The view from the house is breathtaking with unobstructed views of Big Bend, Chisos Mountain and Santa Elena Canyon from the three outdoor sitting areas. We were awestruck every sunrise and sunset. Pictures are unable to capture the beauty of this experience. It was a delight to sip our morning coffee, while awaiting the sun to rise. Equally satisfying was experiencing the picturesque sunsets while the kids played. The nightfall allowed the kids to see the sky, stars like they never have in the city. The house itself sits atop of Terlingua but you forget that you are anywhere near anyone because it faces the mountain range. Once you decided to set out for the day it was easy drive to the Big Bend National Park, State Park as well as local restaurants. The local golf/spa hotel is also nearby. The kitchen was fully functional with a large refrigerator that allowed us to refrigerate a weeks worth of food for a family of four. The bathroom was spacious for all of us. The rain shower was an added bonus. There is even an outdoor shower that one could use during the hotter months to take care of any dirt that you do not want to trek into the house. The bedroom featured a comfortable king sized bed that allowed you to see out through the sliding glass doors at your discretion. We travel all over the world and this was our best Airbnb experience. It has only been a day since we left, but already looking forward to our next Casa Vista Grande visit. Give yourself a special treat and book it as soon as you can!

  • Casa Vista Grande is a little slice of Heaven. The views truly are unprecedented and you can take in the entire expanse of Big Bend National Park from the front porch. Dan was the quintessential host. Best Spring Break ever. Thank you Dan and Tana!! We'll be back.

  • Dan was a really great host and made our stay very easy! He was accommodating with check in, gave us lots of tips, and was very responsive when we had questions! The house itself is incredible - really nice / thoughtful touches inside, spacious, a view that cannot be put into words, a quick drive to some restaurants and the grocery store, and very convenient to Big Bend.

    Kellie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Vista Grande is beautiful! This house is just so impressive. The view cannot be beat. The sunsets are amazing as well as the sunrise. There is everything that you could ever need in this house. Dan is also a great host. He’s very knowledgeable about the park and can give you great suggestions. We absolutely loved our stay there! • Casa Grande Vista is the most beautiful accommodation with a breathtaking and secluded view. You have to stay here!

    Cindy2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Dan and Tana's place was perfect for our family's visit to Big Bend and Terlingua. From the breathtaking views of Big Bend park from any of the three porches, to the comfortable beds, to the well stocked kitchen, to the games and handy books and information on the park and other attractions in the area...I highly recommend Casa Vista Grande! Staying in Terlingua is the perfect starting point to explore the state park to the west and the national park to the east AND puts you close to the best place to eat and hear great music in the area - the Starlight.

  • Very wonderful property nestled in a canyon and near Big Bend National Park. Great wrap around porch. Nice dark skies for star gazing!

  • If you want a true Terlingua experience this is the place to go! The house is amazing, location is on point surrounded by canyons and the host is great at responding with helpful information in the area. Beautiful place and not far from big bend! We had the best Terlingua experience thanks to these guys, we would deffintley return on our adventures! Highly recommend!

  • Fabulous base for exploring Big Bend. Gorgeous location backed right up against scenic cliffs.

    Hardin2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is tucked away in a secluded canyon which seems both far away and convenient to town. The house had plenty of style, warmth and comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • This place is very private, in a beautiful setting, and off the beaten path while still close to amenities.

    David2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Good location outside Big Bend National Park. It's isolated and the nighttime skies are great for stargazing. We would stay here again.

    Andrew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful setting and very peaceful. The home has so much character! Nice area’s to have a walk and explore nature (found an excellent red prickly pear near by) . Bed is comfy, we loved touch of old fashioned ice trays. Depending on your itinerary we would recommend a SUV or something with a little clearance. It’s a dirt road in and our Corolla was fine but there are a few challenges of ruts and washboard. We explored the park and our daughter had a 4x4 we took on many roads. I would hate to miss all the area offers by not having correct vehicle.

El Nuevo Sol is a cozy 16' tipi located just across the street from the Terlingua Ghost Town, restaurants, bars, shopping at the Terlingua Trading Company, and the Saturday Farmer's Market. We are minutes away from the entrance to Big Bend National Park. We have 3 fenced acres and the tipi is located on the far end of the property. Enjoy your privacy, quiet nights under the milky way, and the amazing sunrise over the Chisos!
The Nuevo Sol tipi includes a queen bed, linens, electricity, coffee station, mini refrigerator, outlets for charging computers, phones, etc. In colder months a small space heater and electric blanket is provided. There is private outdoor seating and fire pit (please provide your own firewood). We have a double shower, one side is completely enclosed and the other side is open. We also have a restroom with flush toilet located right next to the shower house. Both are shared with other renters. If arriving after dark the path to the site is marked with several solar lights and small signs. All paths are lit with solar lights but please remember headlamps, flashlights, and boots!
We are about 10-15 minutes from the entrance of Big Bend National Park.
  • Great location, great feel, and overall an awesome get away. Highly recommend.

    Sean2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our time in this tipi! It was very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable. Saw the best sunrise! Waking up to the sound of roosters and coyotes was a really cool experience for us city dwellers. Would stay here again.

  • AWESOME glamping experience outside of big bend! Anna was a kick ass host and the tipi stay was great. Loved the outdoor shower and hanging out in the hammock. Super peaceful. The in-ground fire ring makes cooking over campfires super easy - make sure to grab some starter and a bundle before you arrive! Sleeping inside the tipi was super comfy; plush bed and even an electric blanket & heater if needed. Anna has literally thought of everything you need for a truly unique and fun glamping experience. Bonus- Walking distance to the restaurant and town of terlingua. (Bar & grill was pricey but live music and delicious grub made it worth it - plus bartender was super nice.) If you get to see D.B. rouse perform - buy a kazoo and his free CD.

  • Out of all the places I’ve stayed in and around the Big Bend area, Anna’s place has been my favorite by far. The tipi is in a great location and the shower/outhouse is very nice. Anna provides a list of her local recommendations and she is easy to communicate with. I would absolutely stay here again.

    Lacey2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • All I’ve gotta say is book the tipi. You’ll love it, & you’ll already be planning your next trip to come back. Views are awesome too!

    Brandon2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was easily the highlight of our trip to the area. This was such a unique experience that we enjoyed so much. The tipi was beautiful and clean and had so many amazing little touches that made it so “homey”. The bathroom and showers were so clean and also so well decorated. We loved our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back! Make sure if you have the chance that you wake up to watch the sunrise from your chairs or hammock.

  • Evin's RV was perfect for my trip. Close to BBNP & bed was comfortable. All the extra touches were appreciated & the place was very clean & tastefully decorated. I appreciated the WIFI so I could play my Pandora. One helpful suggestion: once you put in the code, push in on the lock, & then it will pull out & open.

  • This RV felt a lot more spacious than it looked. It had everything we needed (except oil and salt in the kitchen). The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had hot water which we appreciated. The place was easy to find, thanks to the host's clear directions, and it was easy to check into. We truly enjoyed staying at this RV and we do recommend it.

This centrally located tiny house in Big Bend is on 16 acres of private land and is equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The front porch is great for enjoying the quiet mornings as the sun rises over The Christmas Mountains. It’s also great for kicking back and relaxing at the end of the day as the sun sets and the milky way rises in one of the darkest places in The United States. The entrance to Big Bend National Park is roughly a ten minute drive south of this house.
This home is a great year-round place to use as home base while exploring Big Bend. Its equipped with two AC and heat units, a full kitchen stocked with all the basics, hot water and a full bath. It offers the best of both worlds with plenty of open space and privacy while only being a minute’s drive to a major roadway. The Ghosttown and entrance to Big Bend National Park are less then 10 minutes away.
Feel free to explore and enjoy the yard but please respect all property lines.
  • Stylish and clean. Beautiful quiet area. Short drive to Big Bend National Park.

  • Had a great time just getting away and clearing my mind out there! It was so peaceful and comfortable, while still offering the magic of the Big Bend area. Couldn't have picked a better place for a little two day getaway. Stargazing out there is a one of a kind experience! Highly recommend this cabin for anyone who wants to escape the city life for some amazing Texas mountain views and solitude.

Mesa Vista is a 1-room, "off-the-grid" cabin with 2 lofts located 24 miles North of Terlingua, Tx. and Big Bend National Park. It has a queen-sized bed, table and 2 chairs downstairs, and one loft has a queen-sized memory foam mattress. AS OF SUMMER 2019 - We're moving to a "bring your own" format and lowering the rate. Please read the whole description carefully. Enjoy the majestic scenery, brilliant stars- we're a 'Dark Sky' designated area, so there's no light pollution.
SUMMER 2019 - You're welcome to stay with us but we want to make sure you understand that during June, July, and August, the temperature can be over 100F during the day and may be as hot as 90F at midnight. Mesa Vista is not air-conditioned. Of course, it could be cooler. Check the weather info sites for the days you want to book. NEW! Lower price. We've moved to a "bring your own" format so you can personalize your trip. And, to put the cherry on top, we just installed 240 watts of solar power, so you can charge your i-stuff, run a very small fan, and lantern. We'll provide the cabin, queen sized bed downstairs(no bedding), queen sized mattress in the loft, 1 small table inside and 1 kitchen table with 4 chairs, 2 chairs inside, propane camp stove, ice chest, 1 pot, 1 frying pan, 1 small propane heater for cabin, fire pit, composting toilet/composting material, 1 outdoor 5 gallon solar shower water bag /shower curtain surrounded by a wooden wall, and amazing views. You provide everything else: pillow, sheets, blankets or sleeping bag, towels, 16.04 oz propane (the nearby store sells camping propane), toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen sized trash bag/small trash bag for bathroom, large trash bags for outside can, hand sanitizer, drinking water and water to fill the camp shower bag- whatever you want to make your trip comfy and fun. You must leave the property in clean, rentable condition and haul out your trash - there's a dumpster at the Little Burro Store nearby. Check with us for the code. You'll also need to maintain the waterless toilet- it's easy, and we'll leave you easy to follow instructions. As you will be cleaning the area and getting it ready for the next guest, you will be responsible for dumping the contents of the waterless toilet bucket. We have a "dumpster" outside, next to our storage building for the toilet bucket contents only. Let me tell you about MesaVista (be sure and look at the pictures and read our reviews. People LOVE this place.) Stars, blazing sunrises and sunsets, quiet... Mesa Vista is a 10' X 15' off-the-grid cabin located in Big Bend Valley. 9 Point Mesa, Black Hill, Red Bluff, the Christmas Mountains are all visible from the comfy front porch. As of 3/26/17 we now have wireless internet, available to the cabin only when we're home. It's weaker and slower than in the city. We will be traveling from late October - January. The entrance to Big Bend National Park is just down the road,(27 miles from the cabin) as is Big Bend Ranch State Park. Boquillas and Ojinaga, Mexico, are an easy drive. Remember, you'll need passports if you go to Mexico. You can book Rio Grand river trips in Terlingua, where there are also art galleries, shops, restaurants, etc. Mesa Vista is a rustic, small wooden one room cabin with loft, outdoor, water-free toilet big enough for one person at a time, and a 5 gallon camping solar water bag shower. There is a queen-sized bed with memory foam mattress ( no bedding provided), a small table and a couple of chairs downstairs. There is a queen-sized memory foam mattress (no bedding provided) in one loft. The other loft is good for storage. IT'S CAMPING WITH A BEDROOM! Outside, there is a cooking and "hang-out" area, a teapot, a propane stove top, 1 pot, 1 frying pan, and a table and chairs. This is a great place to relax with the beverage of your choice and watch the sunset reflect off the mountains or watch the stars at night. If you're planning on letting your children stay in the loft, we recommend that they be old enough to not fall out of a loft. Access to the loft is via a wooden ladder. If you bring a dog, you may NOT leave your pet alone in the cabin. We're off the grid, so no running water at the cabin. We do have 240 watts of solar power which will run a very small fan and charge your phones and computers. It will NOT handle a hair dryer/hot iron, for example, or microwave oven. You can relax and enjoy the silence and beauty. There is a solar light on the porch which can be switched off and on. There are unobtrusive (down pointing) solar lights outside to light the walkway. The outdoor composting toilet and solar camping shower are a short walk from the cabin. There is a small local grocery store nearby that sells ice, food, firewood, beer, wine, propane, water and some camping supplies which also has public internet access. You'll be about a half-hour drive from Terlingua and the Western entrance to Big Bend National Park. In Terlingua, there are bars, restaurants, clubs, a larger grocery store, liquor store, live entertainment... and the famous Terlingua Ghost Town. Alpine, Texas is approx. 52 miles North. The cabin is approx. 3 miles off the paved road on dirt/gravel roads. There are NO street lights or street signs on the dirt roads, so arriving before dark is a good idea. If you are directionally challenged, this may not be a good fit for you. You don't need a truck or 4-wheel drive to get here, but you do need a little clearance. I wouldn't try it with a Corvette. Betsy's Volvo did just fine. These 3 miles of dirt roads and the area around the cabin can be pretty dusty. As you check the weather for your stay, understand that if it's been rainy or rain is forecasted, the road will be muddy. The views are stunning- as the sun sets in the West, just like in Terlingua, we watch it reflected in the mountains to the east. 9 Point Mesa, Black Hill, Red Bluff, and the Christmas Mountains can blaze with orange and red and then fade to pink, purple... and then the stars come out. You can see our house ( a short walk away) , storage room and bus from the cabin porch. While in Big Bend, it's a good idea to develop the habit of observing the ground around you when you are getting out of cars, approaching/leaving buildings, walking on paths, etc. Although not often seen, snakes do exist out here in the desert. There are many opportunities for hiking, walking, bike riding, and other outdoor activities. As Big Bend is part of the Chihuahuan Desert, make sure that you bring containers for water if you plan on walking, hiking or cycling. You'll need to haul all the water you need for your day trip as no natural water will be available for you on BBNP or BBRSP trails. Stay hydrated. In most areas, there is not a natural break from the sun. There are low, small greasewood bushes, thin mesquite trees, various cacti and dust....lots of dust. So, if hiking, plan a break from the sun into your day. Mesa Vista belongs to Pat O'Bryan and Betsy Blaydes, who managed the Terlingua Las Ruinas campground in Terlingua previously. We have hundreds of positive reviews here on AirBNB and our goal is to make sure you have a relaxing, fun, safe stay with us. Mesa Vista is a new project, but we'll use the same care and diligence here. We want you to have a good time. Now that we've changed our format, we ask you to help the next guest by leaving the property clean and ready to use. You'll have five acres and the cabin all to yourself. MesaVista is a non-smoking property.
If you enjoy Big Bend National Park, you'll enjoy the view in Big Bend Valley. Mesa Vista is 3 miles off Hwy 118. Usually, there is very little traffic during the day and none at night. It's quiet, secluded, peaceful and gorgeous. Big Bend Valley was once inhabited by Apache Indians and occasionally you'll encounter arrowheads and other artifacts.
  • we loved this experience! it felt like the perfect balance: camping out under the bright big bend stars everyone gushes about while enjoying some comfortable touches (the little cabin, a camping stove, composting toilet, and the bag shower we thought was so cool).

    Mary2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed staying here. It is in a beautiful setting and very peaceful. The sunsets were a gorgeous sight to eat our dinner to and it was fun to watch clouds roll in over the mesa. Be sure to pack everything in and follow the directions that Pat sends you closely. We took one wrong turn and got completely lost. The owner of Little Burro helped us find our way, be sure to stop by there while you are in the area. Pat is very quick to communicate, and although we never met him he was very helpful through the communications we did have. If you are looking for a quiet place away from the crowds this is your place!

  • Great place to stay when visiting the Big Bend area. Very quiet, peaceful, and beautiful.

    Chelsea2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place! I am a city girl and even I could handle the outdoor bathroom/shower! It was the perfect place to escape and the stars were magnificent! Pat and Betsy gave us so many helpful tips and were really great hosts! Very grateful we were able to stay here!

    Maryam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great hideaway. I loved that we weren’t in the thick of all of the big bend traffic and the other campers. It was a beautiful, quiet space. Great views and a lovely spot to “car camp” in a cabin. Perfect! Thanks!

    Amy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly as described, truly camping with a bedroom. Pat and Betsy were amazing hosts who helped us with our flat tire, and the community around them is willing to help anyway they can! This is a great place to disconnect from society and enjoy beautiful scenery. Make sure to pack layers if you visit during the colder months. Also the way back out to 118 can be a little confusing so make sure to read their directions carefully. Definitely worth the trip 🥰

    Katie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely breathtaking and truly affordable for almost anyone. The view alone is worth so much more than this is listed at! A great adventure. I’ve always wanted to live in a tiny house, so this listing was right up my alley. If you plan on using the heater, bring two canisters of propane per day, plus extras for the camp stove. The heater would run on low for five hours or so on one propane tank. The only complaints I have are that I wish I had known that the wifi at the Little Burro store cost money. It is per month, and since we were only there for two days, it didn’t make sense to pay the fee which was reasonable for a month but unreasonable for the 10 minutes we needed it. Additionally, the dumpsters there at the store that the listing directs you to put your trash in had padlocks on them, but that was no biggie at all, we just kept it until we got to a gas station. Neither are big issues, obviously, in and of themselves, just putting those things in the listing description would be cool :) Overall, I would %10,000 come back here!

This is an older Argosy Trailer made by Airstream, it has a full bed and a twin bed. The shower does not work, however there are showers and a full bath in a separate utility building (communal) 10 feet away, along with a community outdoor kitchen. The views are incredible! Also, we are happy to offer cooking facilities, we ask that you clean your pots, pans, and dishes after using them.
You may use the trailer's toilet (please no toilet paper in toilet). To flush the RV toilet there is a foot pedal at the front base of the toilet, just step down on it till the toilet flushes....step ALL the way down, half way down just adds water to the bowl. We have a full size bed and a twin bed in the trailer, it has heaters for the chilly season and AC when it gets hot.
The trailer is located in the Terlingua Ghost Town and is within walking distance to entertainment, eating, shopping, music and three bars.
  • The Argosy trailer was perfect for two people for a girl’s weekend. The outdoor kitchen area was well equipped with everything you need and the bathhouse was phenomenal with personal touches. We enjoyed our stay and will return!

    Julie2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • She and her husband were nice and super friendly. Their neighbor, Steven, also helped us a lot. The trailer is near local restaurants. Absolutely come back again.

    Liam2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic home base for Big Bend National Park. Quick jaunt over to the park, but also really close to restaurants/bars of Terlingua. Sue was lovely and Missy the cat was an amazing and ridiculously cute greeter. Noise was not an issue at all and the common areas were perfect for a quick shower or a nice outdoor meal. Loved everything about the trailer!

    Jessica2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time staying on the property. We love everything about it! Can’t wait to come back!

    Paula2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Argosy was great! It was very cute, quirky and more importantly clean! I really enjoyed staying here. We also decided to take the trip with our 2 month old infant and I'll have to admit I wasnt sure how easy it would be to take care of him while traveling but again Argosy had everything we needed and more. Also, might I note that the views of the mountains were amazing along with being walking distance to ghost town. I'd definitely stay here again!

    Christine2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My niece and I really enjoyed our stay at the Argosy. It was much cozier than I expected. The decor is cheery and reflects the Terlingua/southwest style. We had all the dishes we needed, plus microwave, tea pot, a selection of teas, coffee pot and coffee, honey and sugar, and even some basic spices. The beds were very comfortable and even though the weather was cool at night, we slept snugly under feather comforters and a space heater warmed up the trailer in the mornings. It's just steps away from one of the two main toilet/shower rooms, so if one of us was in the Argosy restroom, the other could step across to the "Bano" (which is roomy, clean, and decorated with fun art). Even though wifi isn't listed as one of the amenities, you can access the compound wifi from the outdoor kitchen area. We didn't cook in the community kitchen, but it's got plenty of pots and pans, and a full stove. The whole compound is just a pleasant place to be. They even have an adorable "welcome kitty," Missy, that I enjoyed playing with. The location is great. It's only 15 minutes to the park entrance and walking distance to the Starlight Theatre and also to the Terlingua Ghostown cemetery. Sue, Joe, and Carmen took great care of any questions or needs we had and were very friendly and responsive. I can't wait to return to Big Bend and stay at the Argosy.

    Jamie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z

  • Great location. Walking distance to Starlight and other places to eat. Check in and check out was a breeze. Left a jacket and Danilea mailed it back. Very kind.

  • Darling space with lots of little unexpected conveniences like outlets in the right spots and shelves to hold drinks by your bed etc. I was able to make breakfast, enjoy the most gorgeous sunset and sunrise, buy art from the host and even fit a pack n play for our baby. Also, I accidentally left some clothes in a cabinet and the kindest woman (I believe named Carrie) that came to help prepare the space for the next guest went out of her way to find us at a restaurant to return my attire. I am beyond impressed by her generosity, Daniela’s heart and talent and Sam’s wisdom and knowledge. We will definitely return to our new favorite spot.

This is a west Texas hideout in the Terlingua Ghostown with Private WiFi above the High Sierra bar. Not for the faint of heart. It can get loud and sometimes the faint smell of campfire smoke lingers in the fall/winter seasons. You get your own large private balcony, you are up high on the second floor (not common out here), views from bedroom of Chisos and mule ears, at entrance to Ghostown. Luxury amenities, satellite tv, smart TVs, lots of space to entertain yourself and/or friends.
The whole penthouse and balcony have a private entrance that is roped off with private sign. Parking at bottom of ramp.
Entrance to Ghostown 10 mins from national park 10 mins from state park
  • Cool place to stay.

    Courtney2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay here! Evin was quick to communicate and the condo is just perfect for what we needed— a comfy space close to the parks and access to local businesses. The music from the bar is loud and there is live music most nights, but it closes around midnight and it’s fun to hear! It’s really a wonderful location with a gorgeous view.

    Claire2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot! Huge place and super comfortable! With great amenities and strategic location to be 15min away from Big Bend park's entrance and close to gas station, stores and restaurants at the same time. Loved the big hot tub with jets to relax after a day's hike. Hot water in the strong shower with all kinds of soaps, shampoo and conditioners. Wifi was a life saver bc of low phone signal in all of Terlingua and the National Park. Smart TV right in front of King size bed was perfect for Netflix at night when relaxing and it had cable too or you can also spend an evening watching the stars in the outside livingroom it has with either the air conditioner or outside heater available for your convenience. The restaurant/bar downstairs is so convenient for a meal and a drink after a long day of physical activity when you don't feel like driving anywhere. When we stayed they had live music and it was just at a pleasant sound level that even when we went upstairs to call it a night it didn't bother us to fall asleep.

  • Quirky but cozy. We enjoyed the murmur of people talking in the bar below and loved the nightly music! A bug that turned out to be a feature. Good location, clean and comfy, well worth a visit.

  • Amazing! This place is near the entrance to Big Bend and the place was great. The place was spacious with a patio outside to enjoy the night sky in Big Bend though we weren't able to do that cause we were too cold. Got a King size bed and a jacuzzi to relax after a long day of hiking. Highly recommended and will stay again here if I ever visit the area again!

Want to avoid noisy, crowded campgrounds? Come let the coyotes sing you to sleep on a private camping site in a secluded area just a hop from Terlingua Ghosttown and ten minutes from Big Bend National Park. There is one 12' x 12' site available with access to my bathhouse a short walk away. The site has a fire ring and campfires are welcome as long as they are kept small. Please bring your own towels and toiletries. The bathhouse is supplied with toilet paper and hand soap only.
My personal living space is not far from the campsite and I will be as available to you as you need me to be. This is a desert camp spot. There is no shade so please plan accordingly. We sometimes get crazy windy days so tie down your tents like there is a hurricane coming. I've seen more than a few tents flying through the sky; some have even soared overhead and out of sight from the ghosttown area! Bring a flashlight for getting around after dark. This is a dark sky neighborhood and there is minimal lighting on the property. There are solar pathway lights to the bathhouse. Bring plenty of drinking water with you. I will provide water from a garden hose for dishwashing, etc. but I wouldn't advise drinking the hose water.
The Terlingua Ghosttown is just a few minutes away where you can find the Starlight Theatre for dinner and cocktails and the Posada Milagro for coffee, breakfast and lunch. The Terlingua Trading Company will satisfy your gift shopping needs. Be sure to set aside some time for the famous Terlingua Porch, a great place to mingle with the locals and perhaps catch a tune or two from the town's many musicians.
  • Carmen was a fantastic host and we had such a great time staying at her campsite! She was available if we needed her, and even called to let me know that I had left something behind after I had checked out. Super clean bathroom is a great touch for those of us who aren't quite ready to "rough it" all the way. Would definitely stay here again!

    Laura2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The campsite was great! The way Carmen designed and had details throughout the campgrounds made the place have such sweet and welcoming notes. It was great getting to have a clean bathroom to shower after a long day of hiking at Big Bend. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and include battery light switches for the night time. The campground area is super cute with a lighted walkway, a campfire, and two seats. We had an extra guest, so she kindly brought out a handmade chair for us! Carmen is really sweet and welcoming! Only complaint is that the road to the campground is unpaved so it can get bumpy.

    Diana2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb stay and also my first stay in Terlingua. Carmen was exactly the kind of host I hoped for. She was super helpful with her information in pointing out all the local hot spots and her directions were on point. The bath house was PERFECT after some long nights in the desert and driving up and down the dusty roads of Big Bend. And the location of the place was just right: far enough off the main road but not too far. Just take your time as the dirt roads can bring an adventure if you're not ready for it. Carmen is a gracious host and was very helpful in making my stay comfortable. I can't wait to do it again.

    Bobby2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This campsite is located in the middle of Terlingua Ghost Town, which is a really fun place to be. It's not far from the entrance to the park. It's also about 5-10 minutes away from a half dozen restaurants, some of which are pretty good. The bathroom (one of the reasons we chose this spot!) was very nice. It's also a great place to see the stars!

    Mihran2019-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Carmen is a GREAT host! She is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive. Overall, the campsite is amazing, it was beyond what we expected! For me, the bathhouse was a huge plus as I am a beginner at camping. I have never been a fan of public restrooms/showers so having a clean toilet and shower was a great amenity for me, especially after a long day of hiking! Thanks for making it a great stay Carmen😊

    Joselin2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had never camped in the desert before. The views at her place are breathtaking- they'll make you want to stay for good. Her bath house is great, makes for very comfy camping.

    Scott2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean cozy campground minutes from big bend. The property is beautiful and even shelters from high winds. Would stay again

    Josh2019-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carmen was an amazing host. We camped on her property, and she had the entire area already cleared out for us to set up our tent. She also had a bathroom that is perfect, shower and sink for all your needs, and she even has solar power lights to guide you to the bathroom at night. She also gave us some great recommendations for things to do at big bend. Most importantly, the area felt very safe, and is very centrally located to all the best big bend attractions. I would recommend her place to anyone and would definitely come back.

  • Great camping spot in Terlingua ghost town. Bathrooms and shower very clean. Just as described. Lots to do within walking distance.

    Jen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. Colton was very communicative and let us know about the burn ban well before we came and the site was equipped with coal grills so we could still cook. The site is great, wonderful views within walking distance of coffee, food, and fun. The bathrooms and shower were surprisingly clean - no port-o-potties there! The WiFi was a life saver since there isn’t much cell service out there. Only negative was another group that didn’t follow quiet hours, but that wasn’t something they could have controlled. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

  • Great location to camp for a few nights. Close to everything and great views!

    Karl L.2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is our go to place for going in and out of the Backcountry. We feel very fortunate that it is available and helps to keep the flavor of old Terlingua.

  • Great tenting spot in the Ghost Town!

    Mike2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Great location 👍🏼

    Jaime2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The campsites are in the ghost town proper and literally a stones throw from the cemetery and the porch. We camped with kids and were still able to enjoy one of the most dramatic sunrises, in my opinion, in all of Texas. Loved everything about this place.

    Amy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Terlingua is about 25 minutes out of Big Bend and this campsite was super convenient to everything in the ghost town. Walking distance to Starlight and other restaurants along Ivey and right across the street from a tiny historical graveyard. Plus a shower at the end of a long hiking day was awesome. Great location to check out the stars and watch the sunset over the mountains - Terlingua is a dark sky town, so the Milky Way and all the brilliant stars come out at night. Be forewarned though, bring ear plugs! The neighboring generator runs all night and is pretty noisy, not to mention the spots are pretty close together and you can hear your fellow campers snoring. Locals also like to hang out/party until the wee hours on weekends, and the noise carries (you're in a desert, after all). Not a fault on the hosts' part, but be prepared! Overall, I would definitely stay here again when visiting Big Bend NP!

La Luna (The Moon) 20' Tipi is located just across the street from the Terlingua Ghost Town, restaurants, bars, shopping at the Terlingua Trading Company, and the Saturday Farmer's Market. We are just minutes from the entrance of Big Bend National Park. We have 3 fenced acres and the tipi is located on the far end of the property. Enjoy your privacy, quiet nights under the milky way, and the breathtaking sunrise over the Chisos!
La Luna tipi is one of 3 tipis at the Buzzard's Roost. It is a 20' tipi with a hand painted exterior canvas featuring the phases of the moon and a giant crescent moon painted at the top. Enjoy your privacy, quiet nights, and unobstructed view of the Chisos mountains. There is a queen bed, full size futon--futon is a little smaller than a full size bed more suitable for one adult or two children but can fit two very close adults ;),-- coffee station with a single serve coffee machine, mini refrigerator, outlets for charging computers, phones, etc. All paths are lit with solar lights but please remember headlamps, flashlights, and boots! If arriving after dark the path to the tipi is marked with solar lights and small signs.
  • This was a great place to stay! The views are spectacular, the bathroom and shower houses are nice and clean, and the lounge area is great if you need somewhere to eat or hangout out of the sun. We loved siting outside and watching the stars come out. We stayed in a number of places on our trip and this was the most comfortable bed and linens that we had. This was a great set up for two adults and one kid. We visited in early-mid March and it was already warm in the tipi during the afternoon, so that's something to think about as you plan. Also, wifi was very spotty.

    Valerie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location! Very clean and neat. We loved every minute of the stay!! We would definitely do it again! It was such a beautiful view!!! Loved watching the sun rise and set!

    Joni2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is IDEAL. Much better than other “glamping” spots because the bathroom is clean, one person, and adorable. The tipi was so cozy, well-decorated, and really just perfect. It even rained ALL night when we were there but it was a complete non-issue. We covered our stuff with the given tarp just in case, but it was really fine and totally dry. I will definitely stay here again!

    Gina2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the tipi was a wonderful experience! At night we stargazed by the fire. Inside the tipi, the heater and electric blankets kept us warm despite the outside temperature dropping to 40 degrees.

  • Great place and a great location.

    Juan2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous, unique stay in lovely Terlingua. The tipi was so wonderfully decorated and the fire pit, hammock, and outdoor area were amazing to sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. It got very cold when I was there and I was grateful for the heater and the heated blankets and glad I brought warm pajamas! Highly recommended!

    Fedora2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • La Luna TiPi exceeded my expectations and helped make an incredible trip even better!! Anna’s directions to get there were easy to follow, check-in was seamless, and the TiPi is gorgeous inside and out! Outside has a beautiful view to watch sunrises, enjoy campfires/ s’mores in the nice fire pit, and a hammock to relax in. Inside is more spacious than one would think with trendy decorations. Plus the heater did wonders when it was cold out at night, it’s powerful and will warm up the Tipi in no time! Additionally, everything was very clean included the bathroom and shower area. Both bathroom/shower were very nice and even had hot water! The trip into BBNP to where majority of the hiking trails begin only took us about 40 minutes to get to AND that 40 minutes does not feel long at all when you have such beautiful scenery to look at along side the road! Lastly, Anna’s recommendations for local restaurants were great! After hiking all day we ate at Star Light Theater and had a great meal with awesome live music, then continued the night at La Kiva! Both were great, I highly recommend - very grateful for Anna’s suggestions!! Overall, great experience and would recommend it to anyone! Can’t wait to come back and GLAMP again!!!
