Places to stay in Spain
Our warm and welcoming cottage, boasts an original inglenook fireplace with solid fuel burning stove and exposed stone. The walls are at least one meter thick and the cottage predates the Irish famine.
This unique cottage is 5 kilometers from the village of Baltimore. There is a music studio on site and the hosts offer a range of creative options, such as recording, songwriting and video. There is no light pollution, so star gazing is fantastic. The property overlooks the Atlantic and area is well know for whale and bird watching.
Peace and tranquility married with the rugged landscape makes Spain, Baltimore unique. Dramatic coastlines along with ruins of old cottages and breathtaking cliff top views are unequaled. Lough Hyne, Irelands first marine nature reserve and saltwater lake, connected to the sea by rapids is also close-by.
  • My husband and I had a great time at the cottage. The hosts are very friendly and always very helpful if needed. Anytime we came back after a long day there was a warm fire in the fireplace. They also have two lovely dogs (golden retrievers). Thank you for being such great hosts.

  • Fantastic spot, great house, lovely location. Spotless, charming, easy to get the hosts, very accommodating.

  • Our stay here was perfect. The space was so cozy and in the most beautiful setting. Cannot wait to come visit again soon!

  • We had an amazing 3 day break in this refurbished Irish cottage. Aisling and Donagh were fantastic hosts - with the fire lit and fresh brown bread on arrival. The weather was wild but this only added to the cosiness of our stay as we curled up while it stormed outside. Donagh relit the fire for us each evening so the place was cosy on our return, and was kind enough to give us plenty of recommendations for the area. We had our dog Jack with us too who loved it as much as we did. We would highly recommend this as a venue for a romantic escape to the Wild Atlantic West. Thanks again to Aisling and Donagh for a great stay!

  • Super comfy cottage to chill and enjoy the beautiful nature around. I came back after a year because it’s the perfect location to get a good rest and become zen, it’s so quit you only hear the wind and the sea!

  • Lovely quaint cottage, perfect for our winter getaway. Aisling is a great host, made us feel very welcome and had everything we needed ready for our arrival... including some fine wholemeal bread and the fire already lit. Perfect... thanks Aisling

  • We've stayed at this cottage twice now, and we would love to stay there again. The beds are comfy, the bathroom and kitchen are spotless, and sitting by the fire is so relaxing. There are also gorgeous views from the property, and cliffs within walking distance. Both Baltimore and Skibbereen are quick and easy to get to (as long as you don't mind narrow roads!) and the hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I love this place!

    Elizabeth2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • There aren’t enough words to describe our extraordinary stay at the cottage. Baltimore and Lough Hyne are incredible. The cottage is even more lovely and cozy than advertised. The hosts are some of the most gracious and welcoming people we met in Ireland. Everything was provided, all our needs were exceeded, even down to suggesting a swim visit to the Lough and where to go for seafood. Once in a life time.

Two bedrooms with beds for 7 people. As well as a cot bed on request. Only up the hill from both Baltimore and the famous Lough Hyne Nature Reserve a beautiful walk away .A short boat trip to both Cape Clear Island and Sherkin Islands. A great base for seeing all West Cork on both land and sea. :) Everyone comes back.. :)
Cedar Boathouse is located on a 6 acre site along with our family home. A unique timber framed and well insulated house on the side of a mountain overlooking the islands of West Cork. With a larch plank finish on the outside and cedar and plaster on the inside. We are family friendly and provide stair gates, a cot bed, a high chair and an additional double mattress on request. Animals are welcome and have a porch area of their own..
Simple! We live in a slice of heaven with breathtaking views (see photos) where no matter what the weather there is loads to do and lots of interesting places to visit close to the little fishing village of Baltimore. The village is steeped in history and peppered with great pubs and restaurants. Baltimore is at the mouth of Carbery's Hundred Isles with regular ferries available to Cape Clear, Sherkin and Heir Islands. Boat hire also available to visit your very own island with secluded beaches.
  • We had the best time at the Boathouse, the perfect getaway for a little adventure in West Cork. Especially loved the fireplace and the room upstairs, the bed was so comfy.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Yvonne and Richards house. The views were breathtaking! We arrived and the stove was lighting for us, the house was so warm and cosy. We had everything that we needed. The family dogs came over to say hello, our boys were delighted! It is a great location to explore west cork. We will definitely come back and stay again. Richard gave us lots of information on local restaurants and information on the local area. He was a great host!

  • Will definitely be revisiting soon. As a family we just chilled out . The house has all mod cons including WiFi and TV . For our weekend we left all these off and used the house as an escape from every day Life. It truly delivered. Make sure to check out the stars at night amazing. Thanks a mil to both Yvonne and Richard and kids what a beautiful family .

  • We had a wonderful time at Yvonne and Richard’s boat house. It’s cosy, peaceful, warm and homely. We especially enjoyed the wood fire. The local info we were provided with was really useful. Would highly recommend staying here. Thanks a lot, Yvonne and Richard.

  • Very cosy, clean and well-equipped - felt very at home and a huge plus to be able to bring my little dog with me.

  • We stayed at the boathouse over the Halloween bank holiday weekend. From the start Richard couldn't have been a better host. He met us on arrival and was available if we needed anything. We had an issue with the stove (our fault!) and he was right over to help when we contacted him, The boathouse itself is just gorgeous and perfect for exploring Baltimore and surrounds. It is such a lovely getaway. We must give the family dogs a mention too, they made the stay all the more special and were full of waggy tails to greet us when we came back from our outings! We had a lovely stay and would love to make it back again!

Laundry Cottage is a peaceful hide away, for two, on the edge of the Ilen Estuary. With access to the water there is the option to sail, kayak, swim or just sit and observe sea birds, seals and otters. Walking and taking the ferries to the islands are also popular activities here. The cottage is 15mins from Skibbereen and Ballydehob and a perfect base for exploring beautiful West Cork. This is self catering accommodation so best to pick up your breakfast/dinner this on route.
The accommodation is self contained, fairly small, but big areas of glass for great views and bright and airy. There is a kitchen/living space with sofa, dinning table/chairs and well presented kitchen.
The cottage is situated on the Ilen Estuary. Ferries to Heir Island run from Cunnermore Pier, (10mins by car) This is a very quiet area, no though traffic, just local people on errands, farming and fishing. Thus the roads are perfect for walking or cycling and the views over Roaring Water and the Ilen Estuary are splendid. There is a small creamery shop useful for petrol and Lisheen Church and for some friendly banter the local bar Minihans.
  • A small but nice house on a bay. The house is secluded (15 minutes to the next town) and you can enjoy peace and nature. The kitchen is well equipped and communication with Julie was great. The house is as shown in the photos. We would book again at any time!

    Nora2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • As others have said, the photos really don't do it justice. What an amazing location. We got the boat over to Heir Island which had some amazing views. 100% recommend spending a couple of days here.

    Rachael2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location on the waterfront. Brilliant for swimming when the tide is in. Loads of sailing nearby and quiet country roads for walking. The cottage itself is brilliant - really clean and comfortable.

    Daragh2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Julie’s house is situated in an absolute beautiful and picturesque scenery. It looks (and feels) like a lovely little retreat where you can just relax and enjoy your holiday. The house is equipped properly with all you need, so you can always feel like it’s a home away from home. In about 15 minutes you reach the next town where you can shop for groceries (which is perfect to make your own breakfast in the house). For us, Julie’s house was the perfect location to explore this area of Ireland.

    Christina2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful view, and gorgeous home.

  • Julie's house is the perfect way to explore West Cork. The home itself is the perfect tranquil getaway for two, nestled in a flower filled garden next to the sea. It's well located only 15 mins from Skibbereen and Ballydehob and right on the Wild Atlantic way. Would definitely stay again

We are situated in the country 3 miles out of Skibbereen, 20 minute drive to a beach. You will have privacy, peace & wide views out to the Atlantic , islands, Fastnet Rock & Mount Gabriel. This is a simple & cosy chalet, now with a fixed double bed & a living/galley kitchen area of 3.9 x 2.3 metres made mostly of recycled materials with a touch of alternative West Cork ambience. It has a deck and is set in its own acre. The shower & toilet are in a separate cabin, 40 paces along a gravel path.
The galley kitchen has a silent fridge, 2 ring electric stove, microwave, toaster and usual equipment. There is wifi, and a TV with USB ports. Also a heater. The bed is 1.38 x 2 metres . 2 deckchairs for outside. Inside there are a sofa, 2 upright chairs, a table, a chest of drawers , a hanging space for coats. The chalet and shower cabin have external lights but other outside space is unlit. Torches can be provided! For 2020 the shower/toilet cabin has been ergonomically enlarged. We make no extra charge for cleaning and we dispose of your rubbish which we sort for recycling. A 3rd person or child could use the sofa bed at extra cost of €17 per night.
West Cork is noted for its scenery and irregular and scenic coast, off shore islands , some of which can be visited for day trips by regular ferries. Skibbereen, Bally de Hob, Schull have good quality restaurants and bars. Traditional music can be found many nights of the week in bars - more in high summer. Whale/ dolphin watching- fishing/ river fishing/ kayaking are all available. Skibbereen has a Saturday vibrant Farmers market selling noted local artisan and organic produce.
  • The cabin was perfect for our needs. Self-contained, cosy, beautiful views. As described, there's a short walk from the cabin to the toilet and shower. You'll encounter a few flies and spiders in there but no more than can be expected. The facilities were clean and we felt very warm and comfortable at night. This is a great option if you fancy simple accomodation in a peaceful and scenic place.

    Kate2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely cabin with a short walk in the delicious fresh air to the hot shower and loo. We had a great time here for two nights. It’s small but has everything you need. Particularly appreciate the sharp knife and scissors as so many Airbnb’s have blunt ones. Lovely hosting and great communication.

  • Great stay at Mary and John, who are lovely hosts. The place is very quiet and a bit remote, very easy to find thanks to the indications sent by our guests at the end of the reservation! A perfect place to visit the region.

  • Lovely house in a beautiful surrounding and Eilleen is a great host. Thanks a lot

    Clara2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for a couples break away when you need a home base and you plan to be out and about all day. Eileen is a very considerate and thoughtful host. She was great with directions, very warm and friendly upon our arrival, very accommodating making herself available should we need anything - which we didn’t, but it’s always nice to know that the host is approachable for the “just in case” There was milk and bread and butter already at the house for us, which we thought was a lovely touch. The bed is **so** comfy (from someone with a bad back, this is a serious compliment). The towels are lovely, we had a lazy evening one night and sat in watching Netflix, so relaxing. The location itself is ideal if you plan on dividing time between Skibbereen and Baltimore as it’s ideally positioned between the two. We’ll definitely come back and stay again on another child-free weekend.

Bright, cozy garden chalet set in the heart of West Cork. Walking distance to the golf course and within 3km of Skibbereen centre. The fishing village of Baltimore with its many fine restaurants and the world heritage centre of Loch Hyne just minutes away.
The chalet is a self contained unit and has been finished to a very high standard. We have provided as many of the comforts of home as possible. As well as TV and internet, we have provided music, books as well as information on local attractions for your interest. The kitchen is well stocked with all the equipment you may need. There are some basic food supplies provided for each of our guest visits including fresh bread, milk, local organic farm eggs. The food cupboard is well stocked with some basics “just in case!” The washing machine is built in to the kitchen and if you need drying there is a clothes line in the garden or you may use the dryer in the main house (small fee). In the main living area is a sofa bed which is of high quality and very comfortable. Bedding for this is within easy access in a blanket chest. There is a separate bathroom in the Chalet with a step in shower and hot water on demand. We provide fresh towels for your convenience as well as soap and shampoo. The main bedroom has a large double bed with wardrobe and drawers. The bedroom is completely separate and has French doors with a beautiful view beyond. There are views from both sides of the chalet overlooking the garden to the south and hills beyond, as well as the tranquility of miles of unspoilt farmland to the north. If you just want to get away from it all for a little peace and quiet, but be close to the bustling market town of Skibbereen, the chalet at Coolmoreen Cottage has it all to offer.
WELCOME TO THE CHALET AT COOLMOREEN COTTAGE Your hosts Tim and Marie Sarsfield hope you have a relaxing and comfortable stay. We thank you for coming to stay with us and hope you have an opportunity to enjoy much of what West Cork has to offer. For your information there are maps and brochures in the chalet on some of the local attractions, places of interest as well as some local restaurants and bars. We are located approximately 3km from Skibbereen town centre (about 20-25mins walking). There is a bus service available between Skibbereen and Baltimore. Although there are no bus stops within easy access, the bus will stop for you along the road and we recommend you flag down the bus at the corner of the turning to Loch Hyne (approx 100 metres left outside of the main gate) either side of the road depending on which direction you would like to go. Bus timetables are available in the Chalet for your convenience For you golf enthusiasts Skibbereen and West Carberry golf public course is virtually on our doorstep. Just turn right out of the main gate and about 100 metres on the right is an access to the course. You can play either 9 or 18 holes and the fees are very reasonable and we can now offer exclusive discounts for our guests.. Club rentals and carts are also available. Loch Hyne which is a European heritage site is about 10mins drive. Turn left out of the gates and take the first left turn. It is signposted. The loch itself is one of the largest salt water tidal lakes in Europe . You can either choose to take a leisurely stroll around one side of the Loch or if you are feeling like something a little more strenuous there is a hike through the woods behind the car park and the view from the top spectacular! During the summer months night kayaking adventures are available and well worth doing as on a clear evening when it becomes dark the bioluminescence at the bottom of the lake glows! The fishing village of Baltimore is about a 15 minute drive. There are ferries leaving on a regular basis to the Sherkin and Cape Clear islands. Whale watching and excursions to the Fastnet lighthouse are also optional day trips. Baltimore itself offers some of the best restaurants around West Cork. There is a cord just above the shower unit to the left inside the bathroom. When using the shower please just pull the cord to activate the shower. The temperature in the shower is preset but maybe adjusted accordingly to preference. Laundry. There is another switch underneath the kitchen cupboards to the left marked washing machine. This must be switched on before commencing. There are laundry soap gel capsules in the cupboard underneath the kitchen sink. Place one capsule inside the machine at the drum base and place clothes on top. To add fabric softener simply pull out the drawer at the top of the machine and add a capful to the centre blue compartment. Set desired wash cycle depending on fabrics and time. We recommend the “daily quick” for everyday lightly soiled items. Drying. In dry and mild conditions you may use the outside clothes line located to the rear right side of the garden. There are clothes pegs in a bucket beside the clothes line. In the event of bad weather we have provided you with an indoor clothes stand which is located behind the bedroom wardrobe. If you choose this option we recommend you have a little heat on and a window slightly opened so as to provide some ventilation. If however you need clothes dried a little quicker, we would be happy to provide you with the option of using the tumble dryer in the main house. Please just pop over. There is a small charge for this €5 per load Heating. The main fireplace in the living room is controlled by two switches underneath the stainless steel hood. The left switch is the on/off. The right switch controls the heat level either 1 or 2 depending on comfort level. Please be sure to turn off appliance after use. Otherwise there are two electric heaters, one located in the main living area the other in the bedroom. They maybe adjusted accordingly. There is also a wall fan heater in the bathroom for your convenience. Cooker. There is a switch underneath the kitchen cupboard beside the cooker. This must be switched on first. Controls are fairly self explanatory but if not sure please do not hesitate to ask your host. There are saucepans of various sizes in the underneath kitchen cupboard to the right of the cooker. TV/DVD. There are three remote controls which are marked accordingly. The main tv on/off control is only to switch the tv on and off as well as control the desired volume. The second remote “freesat”control is used to power on the satellite box (top right button) as well as changing the channel. By pressing the “guide” button a menu will appear to show you which programs are available to watch at the present time as well as future listings. The third remote control is for the DVD player only. There are a selection of DVDs for your convenience on the bookshelf. If you have any questions or problems operating the tv/dvd, once again your host would happy to help. Smoking. No smoking inside the chalet at anytime. It is an extreme fire hazard. You may smoke outside however please make sure cigarette butts are extinguished properly. There is an ashtray in the kitchen cupboard if needed. Fire extinguisher and fire blanket. Both are located to the right of the kitchen beside the dining table. In case of a fire on the cooker caused by fat/oil please use fire blanket and not the extinguisher. Parking. There is a parking space available specifically for guest use beside the front sun deck. Please reverse with caution as there maybe a vehicle parked behind. When exiting on the main road please proceed with caution. Traffic approaching from the right are moving fast! Use mirror on opposite side of road to assist with traffic from right. Exit with extreme caution looking both ways.
  • Tim’s chalet is my new high water mark for Airbnb’s. It’s absolutely ideal. Beautiful accommodations and Tim was very welcoming and generous stocking the place with some groceries. There’s even a washer if your stay leaves you enough time to air dry. Short drive to Skibbereen and just down the road from a beautiful hike at Knockomagh Hill. Highly recommend!

See you soon x

Lovely well-equipped 2 bedroom cottage available for visiting beautiful Baltimore & West Cork! 3kms from the village & on the main road for easy finding. Stunning setting beside the estuary, near Carbery's Hundred Isles, and plenty of parking.
Cosy cottage located on the main road to Baltimore, 3kms from the village itself. The property consists of one double room, and one single room (with a fold-out bed option too). Easily sleeps 3 adults, with a fourth fitting on a comfy chair-bed if necessary. Located opposite the beautiful estuary with lovely views around and lots of outdoor space. Perfect for getting away from it all as it is outside of the village, or as a good base for car holidays in order to explore the West Cork region. There is plenty of parking and nicely landscaped gardens. The cottage also has a wood burning stove, an extensive DVD collection (for wet days) and a fully equipped kitchen so its well stocked to keep you comfortable come rain or shine. I have recently upgraded the double bed for a luxurious sleeping experience and a brand new hob and oven have also been installed this summer. Please note that during the slower winter months it is highly advisable to book at least two days in advance so that the cottage can be fully prepared prior to your arrival. In addition the local bar and restaurant round the corner(The Sibin) is only open after 5pm during the winter months.
The cottage is located in the small hamlet of Rath, 3kms from Baltimore village. Round the corner (10 minutes walk) are the church, the Sibin pub (which serves food and has music at the weekend) and the school. We are on the estuary of a 100 isles so there are beautiful views around the locale and it is classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty. 3kms down the road and you have the village of Baltimore, with a shop (with atm), pubs, restaurants, sailing clubs, water sports, swimming pool and a playground. Also 6kms away is the famous Lough Hyne (recently listed in the Irish Times 20 Best Places to go wild in Ireland for walking, swimming and diving). 8kms away is Skibbereen, the main town for this part of West Cork with banks, post office, a Lidl, , arts centre, medical centre and everything else.
  • Very nice and comfortable house, the kitchen is equipped very well. When the wind is strong, it can be difficult to use the fire.

    Anna2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Pristine cottage. Warm, cosy, peaceful and beautifully bright. An ideal base for exploring so many wonderful local sights such as Baltimore, the islands (I loved Cape Clear), the Carbery Isles, Lough Hyne and more. The wood fire stove was a treat. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

  • Great place, with great facilities. Cosy stop travelling around Ireland.

    Jayne2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We spent Christmas week in this lovely little cottage and can't begin to describe how wonderful it was. Warm and cozy, fully furnished with everything we needed, and as a special bonus - the friendliest most affectionate cat we've ever met (and we are fosterers!). Catherine is a great and welcoming host, and the local area is just beautiful. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

    Wendy2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place! The cottage was absolutely perfect. With all the amenities you can imagine and more. The perfect location: quiet, cosy and well equipped. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and dozens of movies to watch. We had great communication with Catherine.

    Robert2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little cottage with everything you need for self catering. Well located for exploring Baltimore, the islands and the rest of West Cork. There is a lovely pub walkable around the corner and great places to eat nearby in Baltimore. Despite the cold weather the place was cosy and it was lovely to curl up with a book by the wood burning stove.

    Eleanor2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine’s cottage is a little gem in the rugged Baltimore coastline, if you’re looking for a slice of real Ireland - you’ve found it! It’s quaint & cosy and our little doggy loved it too! As a host she was exceptionally helpful and made our stay seamless

  • From the moment you arrive at Fiona & Paul's place, the hospitality and warmth is evident. The location is perfect for popping into Skibbereen town centre whilst still being easily accessible with links to other local towns and historic sites. Fiona, Paul & the gorgeous Flossie dog are the perfect hosts; friendly, incredibly helpful and have a fantastic knowledge about the local area. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable, private and spotlessly clean. Every thought is put into providing a selection of high quality teas, coffees and biscuits in the guest room. The breakasts were absolutely delicious and freshly prepared each morning. I absolutely recommend this beautiful home and wonderful hosts to anyone who is looking to stay in Skibbereen.

    Sheila2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Paul's place is fabulous. The bedroom is bright and spacious but still very cosy and is as lovely as it looks in the photo. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. The bed is super comfortable. There were so many lovely touches; water and biscuits in the bedroom, a little torch on the bedside table, books, fresh milk for tea/coffee. Fiona and Paul were lovely, attentive hosts and their communication before and during my stay was excellent. And Flossie, the dog, is as welcoming and friendly and full of playful mischief! Highly recommended B&B.

  • Fiona and Paul have a lovely home and were very welcoming and accommodating. The house is well situated for Skibbereen town centre (approx 10-15 mins walk) yet set in a quiet, peaceful location. The food for breakfast was fresh and offered good choice. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, would definitely return and recommend without reserve. Thank you Fiona, Paul and Flossie!

    Teresa2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Paul are super hosts and we felt very welcome in their home. The room is lovely and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious - excellent coffee :-). I had 'fun' figuring out how to use the TV which needs two remotes so for technophobes like me that might be a challenge, otherwise ***** all the way. And do check out Lough Hyne just down the road (thanks again Paul for the tip, we went back for another swim after leaving yesterday morning)

    David2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Paul were exceptional hosts, with a wealth of knowledge about the area and surrounding areas. Their home is beautiful, and breakfast and chats were superb. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Skibbereen. Orla and Eamonn

  • We had a lovely weekend stay in the cottage. We had booked a last minute break for a special anniversary and we loved every minute of our stay. The cottage is so lovely and cosy, we loved evenings by the fire playing cards and especially enjoyed our visits from Max the cat. Henrietta was very accommodating, leaving out goodies on arrival and even suggested a lovely walk we could do. We found the location excellent, it feels remote however you are only 5 minutes from town, which is great. We will certainly be back, sooner than later!

    Tamzyn2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage beautifully decorated spotlessly clean. Really cosy kids bedrooms were very suitable for them . Lovely box of toys in the room great selection of books to read from. Henrietta left crisps and juice drink for kids which was a lovely touch. Great location to visit west cork would highly recommend staying here

    Brian2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very pretty, peaceful cottage, certainly lives up to it's name. Henrietta is a thoughtful host but never intrusive . The cottage itself is spotless, tastefully decorated and very well stocked. Thoughtful touches on arrival- milk, bread, butter, tea etc, as well as a lovely bunch of flowers. The area is outstandingly beautiful, with many places to explore. Lovely Cottage is a perfect base to discover the beautiful South West. We loved the friendly cat too.. we'll be back!

  • Lovely cottage is a great place to stay. The host went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is well supplied for visitor needs. We could not have asked for more - highly recommended.

    Christine2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say, the cosiest little cottage you could hope for, it exceeded all expectations we could have had. Warm, sparkling clean - Henrietta even had lovely brown bread left out, and butter and jam when we arrived. We came to Cork to do a distance swim for the weekend, and when we returned on the Saturday, frozen and hungry, the heating had been turned up, the fire was all set, the water was lovely and hot, we didn't budge for the night. I was sad to leave, and left my jacket behind by mistake, Henrietta had it packaged and posted to me the very next day. Unbelievably helpful lady, with a gorgeous home. We can't wait to go back, thanks Henrietta for everything xx

    Alison2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage lives up to its name. Excellent little cottage for a few nights away, the kitchen is very well equipped and we were left some excellent bread and a few other bits on our arrival. The cottage is clean and tidy and the beds nice and comfy. Be aware you will have breakfast with Max the cat in the mornings but he is the most polite cat we've ever seen and absolutely no bother at all if you need some space.

    Michael2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay, Henrietta had thought of everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. A little out of the way, but for us this just added to the experience having a quiet and secluded place to enjoy Skibberrean from. We especially appreciated the snacks, drinks, bread, tea and fresh local milk on our arrival. The wood fire was lovely and the kitchen amazingly well equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking. Everything was just so cosy and comfortable - it really felt like home as soon as we arrived. Would recommend lovely cottage to anyone.

    Rachael2019-09-12T00:00:00Z

The cabin is set back in from the road and has it’s own entrance with private parking. Due to it’s location you have the benefit of not being bothered by noise in the evening yet being only a few minutes walk from everything. The place has 1 bedroom with a queen size bed, 1 bathroom with an electric shower and a kitchen-come-living room. The place is heated by a little wood burning stove, and there is hot water on tap for washing your hands or dishes. There is fibre broadband available with WIFI connectivity. My place is primarily designed for 2 people, but as long as you don't mind using a foldable single bed, or have someone sleeping on the sofa (regular sofa, not sleeper sofa) then I can accommodate more, but really the extra sleeping arrangements are only suitable for one extra adult, or two small children. IT'S NOT SUITABLE FOR 4 ADULTS. If you let me know your requirements before you arrive I'll arrange extra bedding.
Baltimore is picturesque fishing village situated on the south west coast of Ireland. You can find many fine restaurants, bars and cafes in the village and surrounding areas. Fun activities available in the area include fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, dolphin & whale watching trips, horse riding, hiking & bike riding.
  • This place was perfect for my husband and me who wanted to explore the rural area of Baltimore and Skibbereen. The cabin is adorable, and the wood stove makes the whole place cozy.

  • This place is amazing! Mary is lovely and extremely accommodating. Baltimore itself is a very cute village and you can easily walk anywhere within the village from the bnb. Mary has great food suggestions if you're interested in checking out what Baltimore has to offer. It's a bit away from any grocery stores or petrol stations, so make sure you're prepared before you venture out this way! Space was absolutely perfect for two people! We had stormy weather and Mary provided lots of fire wood and it was the perfect stormy oasis to cook some food and hide from the weather. Space was perfectly spacious for two people and the kitchen had all the things you forget to bring when you stay at an airbnb! Definitely would recommend this place; very clean, perfect size and a wonderful weekend getaway - a home away from home!

  • The cabin was perfect for a short trip to Baltimore! Really enjoyed our time here and Mary was the most wonderful host - especially enjoyed the scones on arrival and having the fire lit.

  • Mark and Mary’s place is lovely. So cosy and really comfortable. We were welcomed with homemade scones and a bottle of wine for our honeymoon! The fire was lighting too! I’d recommend this place for an expiring point for Baltimore and the amazing scenery in west Cork. Just lovely. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you Mary!

  • super easy checkin, we were welcomed by mark's mother mary. lovely & cozy cabin, nice shower, well equipped kitchen. the stove was a bit tricky to handle at times because it works with wood, but absolutely manageable :) everything in baltimore was accessible by foot from here. would book again!

  • The Cabin on The Hill is a great place to stay in Baltimore. The small and cozy cabin is perfect for a couple and offers easy access to Baltimore village. Mary is very friendly and the cabin has everything you'll need for an enjoyable stay.

Located in the heart of Tragumna , one of the most picturesque villages in WestCork. (of course I am biased!).The Lookout is a very modern accommodation, it has wonderful views in a quiet peaceful area located along the Wild Atlantic Way, just 5km from Skibbereen. At our B&B you can look forward to a relaxing stay, enjoy the sounds of the ocean crashing against the rocks and beach. The Lookout is close to the Blue Flag Beach, Skibbereen Eagle bar/restaurant and offers breathtaking coastal walks.
The room is located on the ground floor with its own private entrance and private ensuite. The room is bright and clean. The internal door to the rest of the house is locked off. It has a kingsize bed with good quality linen and comfortable mattress. The room also contains a Smart TV, mini fridge ( to hold fresh milk and water), toaster, butter/jam, tea/coffee making facilities, choice of cereals (3) and milk. The ensuite has a large shower, toilet and sink. Weather permitting there are deck chairs to sit out and have a coffee in the morning, or relax on arrival and enjoy the sunset. Although I do not provide a full breakfast, there will be a choice of three cereals in the room, fresh milk in the fridge, breakfast biscuits, toaster and bread, tea and coffee.
Tragumna is an extremely safe and quiet village. Im sure you would feel right at home here. What to See and Do: Kayaking: Atlantic Sea Kayaking, Reen Pier & Lough Hyne. Reen Pier is on the way to Union Hall, about a 15 minute drive from the house. Whale Watching: Colin Barnes runs Cork Whale Watch out of Reen Pier. Nic Slocum runs Whale Watch West Cork out of Baltimore. Both tours are excellent. We suggest Cork Whale Watch as the route Colin takes will give you a whole new perspective on the coastline the house looks out onto. In addition, you will pass the seal colony located on the Stags Rocks (the group of rocks you see around the corner). Walking from the house: Tralispeen beach: turn left at Trag beach, follow the road for 1km, then take a left at the T-junction and walk 2-3 km. Towards Castletownshend: Toe Head tower can be reached by taking a right after Tralagoch beach. If you are planning to walk all the way to Castletownshend, be sure to stop at Sandy Cove beach. Nearby sightseeing: Lough Hyne - a must visit; Rineen woods; Drombeag Stone Circle; Knockdrum Stone Fort; Liss Ard Gardens. Scenic drives: Crookhaven, Barley Cove & The Mizen Head; Bantry, Glengarriff & the Beara Way; Bantry, Gougane Barra & Kenmare; Clonakilty, Timoleague & Kinsale. Golfing: Skibbereen Golf Club, 18-hole course. Alternatively, there is a fine 18-hole links pitch and putt course in Rosscarbery. Clubs can be rented at both locations. Angling: Seaanglingcharters.ie, Reen Pier; Baltimore Angling & Wild Life Tours. Diving: Baltimore Diving Centre Other: Fastnet Rock lighthouse tours, fastnettour.com
  • Fiona was an absolutely fantastic host. The room was beautiful and sparkling clean, and location absolutely perfect. Will definitely be back again. Can not recommend highly enough.

What a view :) In Baltimore Village just off the walk to The Beacon Cliffs and overlooking the Cove Beach and West Cork Islands. Short walk to local pubs, Michelin Star restaurants and Island ferries.Near the famous Lough Hyne Nature Reserve and at the heart of West Cork. A piece of heaven on the side of a hill with views to die for.Three bedrooms with beds for 7 as well as a cot on request. The perfect place to watch the sun going down over WestCork with a nice glass of wine. :)You'll love it :)
Just on the edge of the village away from the noise at night but only a 3 minute walk to pubs and restaurants..
A residential area up a small hill from the village looking out over the Harbour and Islands of west Cork. The perfect place to watch the sun going down with a nice glass of wine. :)
  • We stayed at Richard and Yvonne's house at Baltimore in October. The house is really close to the village, a stroll down the hill. It has beautiful views over the bay. Lovely and clean, comfortable beds and living area, nice and warm once the heat got going. Very friendly village, a magical spot. there were 4 of us staying and we felt we got good value for money

    Claire2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very enjoyable stay, beside the ferry to Sherkin island, all the watering holes and restaurants. Great views and excellent communication with Richard.

  • A lovely place in a beautiful location with incredible views, especially at sunset and the long summer twilight. And close enough to walk into town.

  • Great location everything great

    Michael2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Richard’s place is very relaxing with the best view in West Cork! The amenities are great, very comfortable beds and a great kitchen.

    Leanne2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • It's all about the location and the views! We had a great 3 nights stay here, and have to say it was the perfect spot for all that Baltimore has to offer. If you are looking for amazing panoramic views over Baltimore and Sherkin Island, together with peace and quiet - then this is the place! It really is a peaceful spot to unwind, yet be no more than a leisurely 10 minute stroll away from the hub of Baltimore village with its very good seafood restaurants and pubs.. We certainly recommend the 'Lookout' for a more upmarket seafood dining experience, but all the food locally is fresh and delicious.. A trip to Sherkin Island is also a must - Plus plenty of other water activities to keep you busy for several days including whale watching trips and visits to other local islands. The accommodation is ideal for two couples or a family, and we recommend at least 3 nights here, but there is plenty in the local area to see and do for at least a week, and this spot is an ideal hub to see the best of this area of West Cork and through into Kerry. Communication was excellent, from booking through to check in and afterwards - very helpful and you feel very safe in this local and friendly town. We would certainly stay again on a next visit to Baltimore!

  • Unbelievable place. Stunning views from the garden and hot tub was a real treat. Perfect relaxing retreat

    Niki2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Trag Retreat is beautiful. The house is extremely comfortable and the views are so stunning that we were tempted not to leave at all. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, the place was spotlessly clean and Sarah left us cookies to welcome us. She was a magnificent host, responding almost immediately to all of our communication. The hot tub outside is incredible and even though it was lashing raining on our last day we were in there twice. We’ll definitely be back.

Cuinne House is a detached house on the east side of the island situated on high ground with excellent views on 3 sides around. It's close to the pier 5 or 6 mins walk and to both bars 2 or 3 mins walk On the far west side 30 mins walk are several sandy beaches, accessible from the road and "must see" . Roads here are narrow so unless really necessary you won't need a car.
There is a dining room and a quiet garden with a beautiful view.
Close to pier , bars , restaurant.
  • Lovely place to stay. Brendan is very friendly and there is good communication from the moment you book. Breakfast was very tasty especially the fresh eggs. The view is stunning. We will be back.

  • Friendly and helpful host, beautiful room and the location on the island is great. Sherkin is also really worth it.

    David2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with bedroom views across the island to the nearby bay and headland, the sea beyond and out to Cape Clear. I had two days with two sides of the weather - lovely calm and sunny one day, dramatic and windy the next (resulting in an additional night stay due to cancelled ferry!). The accommodation is just right, a separate annex to the main house with en-suite bathrooms. A good breakfast selection including fully cooked is included. Good local knowledge provided including ferry updates, where to go to see waves crashing in and walking/cycling options.

  • Fantastic stay in a great Location and great welcome from Liam.

    Michael2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We just stayed for one night in Liam's place, my boyfriend and myself. If I could rate this place and the host more I would. From the moment we arrived Liam was a gentleman. He set the fire, making sure we had coal and wood, it was lovely to have it lit later on. After sitting outside with a drink watching the stars, which was pretty amazing. We also were allowed to borrow his bicycles for two days as it so close to Lough Hyne and Baltimore it was lovely to cycle around and when we were soaked and tired Liam even came to get us with the bikes after a day away to Cape Island. There are so many things to do in the area. Perfect location, perfect host, I can't find a reason why you wouldn't want to stay here. To top things off as the place wasn't booked for the day we were leaving, we were allowed a late check out and loan of the bikes :-)

    Caitriona2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Make time to sit in the outdoor seating and watch the world go by with the fab view of the countryside and Baltimore bay, Liam’s place is a perfect hideout to relax and use as a base for traveling around West Cork. Liam gave us tips on where to eat and what to do locally and while we never met, he checked in before, during and after our stay to make sure we were ok - highly recommend a stay here - thanks Liam

Perfect for nature lovers, romantic getaways, family holidays, weddings and group celebrations.

Beautifully located house on the brow of the hill with spectacular views towards Roaringwater Bay and the islands. In a quiet location just ten or fifteen mins walk to the village square. Sunsets are to die for. We have added a new deck just recently which is sheltered from the wind but yet still enjoys the wonderful views. As its been our home for many years, it has many extras. Not your average holiday let. PLEASE NOTE IT IS SELF CHECK IN WITH A DOOR CODE.
The house was built in the seventies and comprises three bedrooms, two living rooms (one being in the sun room) with a wood burning stove and electric heating. The recently refurbished kitchen is compact but efficient. Large deck with BBQ. Lots of parking. Garden. Gorgeous views from every angle. A place to contemplate the beauty of nature and while away the time.
Baltimore is a pretty little fishing village with much emphasis on sailing and all sea sports. The area is known as Carbery of the Hundred Isles located in Roaringwater Bay. Islands galore are dotted off the shore, some with public transport via ferry. There is whale watching, angling, water skiing, sailing, swimming (its lovely to swim in Lough Hyne...a few kms away). There is also a pool in the village called the Wild Atlantic Pool in Castlefields...not far from the O'Driscoll Castle. Sandy beach on Sherkin Island known as Silver Strand. Not far away, you have Skibbereen golf club. If you like walking there are lovely hikes in the area. Of course all of the rest of West Cork is wonderful to visit, all the way over to Kerry. Lots of books on local walks as well as tourist brochures in the house for your use. Lots of characterful local pubs and eateries featuring local produce, excellent seafood, meat, veggies and foraged items. Even the recently awarded (2019) one star Michellin rated (The Mews). There you can sample a 14-course tasting menu. So you'll be spoiled for choice. But its not all 'haute cuisine', there are pizzas, burgers for the budget conscious and plenty middle-of-the road restaurants that fit the bill. We like Casey's Cabin just as you enter the village, and Rolf's Hostel is a short walk from the house (just down the hill and turn right). SHOPPING: There is a supermarket in Baltimore but Skibbereen is the best place to shop for groceries. There is a fabulous supermarket called Field's right in the centre with a huge car park behind. It is one of the top in Ireland. There is also a LIDL at the roundabout exiting Skibb towards Baltimore. An ALDI in the town centre too with a large car park which you enter from North Street. If you are keen on fish there is a fish shop out The MARSH beyond the roundabout after the West Cork Hotel. He usually has a fantastic selection, but FIELD'S is excellent too. Meat tends to be of a high quality also. There is a Farmer's Market on Saturdays in the overflow car park next to ALDI. Of course all of the rest of West Cork is wonderful to visit, all the way over to Kerry. RESTAURANTS As for restaurants, you are spoiled for choice. The Mews is super but very very expensive. Families like the local pizzeria in the Square. The pub is good for soup and sandwiches (open crab is delicious). The West Cork hotel in Skibbereen for traditional food (and lots of it!). We like Casey's on outskirts of Baltimore. Prices are reasonable. Rolf's is near us on foot, just go downhill half way and take a RIGHT....continue along that dirt road and you'll soon find it. That's a nice walk too to the village returning the normal route. There are lots of brochures in the house and also the Tourist Office in Skibbereen is very helpful.
  • Jeanne is a wonderful host. She responded to emails immediately and answered all my questions—she even anticipated those that hadn't yet occurred to me. Her online description is not an exaggeration, the views are extraordinary and the location is perfect. You can see the whole Baltimore area from a quiet vantage point. It's an easy walk into town, to the ferries, and to the Beacon. There are lovely decks for lounging.

    Julie2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Setanta with its stunning view over Baltimore Bay. We loved the bungalow style house and felt very at ease with everything. We would come back anytime.

    Ursula2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanne´s house offered a very pleasant stay. The weather was tough (strong winds and rain most days), but the view from the main room is suitable to enjoy even so: the constantly changing mists over the bay and the ferries going back and forth. The house was clean and comfortable with all facilities. Jeanne proved to be a super-responsive host, ever ready to provide information and deal with any issue. All in all, a very good experience!

  • I would highly recommend a stay at Setanta. The house is located within walking distance of the pubs and restaurants of Baltimore so you can travel by foot home in the evening if you want to have a few drinks and leave the car behind. You are also within walking distance of the ferries to the islands and lots of local walks including the Beacon. The view from the house is amazing. There is a terrace at the back with garden furniture which is lovely for relaxing. Jeanne was a perfect host, always in contact and provided some lovely touches in the house of food and a bottle of wine when we arrived. I hope to return some for another stay at this lovely house.

  • This spacious, well-appointed home is perched on a hillside and offers truly fantastic panoramic views across the harbor and the Baltimore Bay. We were warmly welcomed by Jeanne with a welcome package and provided in advance with useful tips on attractions and restaurants. We felt very well and even rainy days over well. The equipment leaves nothing to miss: small but fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, fireplace, terrace with seating, wireless internet, etc. The best is the view, the game of clouds, sun and water you can not get enough.

    Frank2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Jeannes for 9 nights .we had a fantastic time and the views are just stunning from the house.it looks right out over the bay and has a large deck for eating outside comfortable new seating and tables and chairs bbq etc. On arrival there was milk bread and even bacon eggs and sausages and a bottle of wine!!and cookies for the children. So thoughtful. The kitchen is small but very well equipped with new hob oven and fridge.there is a small dishwasher and washing machine drier in basement with large freezer . The house was ideal as a base for touring the west Cork area .We really enjoyed our stay and the hospitality from Jeanne was exceptional

  • The hillside cabin is simply stunning! This beautiful cedar boathouse, carefully restored and decorated with local art & craft, is a perfect place to rest, relax, or indulge in nearby activities (hiking, kayaking, a boat trip to Cape Clear, Sherkin Island or around the Fastnet Lighthouse is a must!). Richard & Yvonne’s place is located at the top of the hill overlooking the nearby hills & the bay, which - along with a roaring fire in the stove - guarantees a romantic stay. Highly recommended!

  • What can I say. This house is just wonderful. It is in the most spectacular location in beautiful Baltimore and the house has everything you could want in a holiday home. Myself and a few friends rented it out for 9 days over Xmas and it was absolutely amazing. The house has all of the amenities that you could ask for. It is cozy and warm and very well serviced. Jim was wonderful to deal with, answered all our questions so promptly and had a beautiful fire waiting for us to welcome us when we arrived. I would have no problem recommending this beautiful home and was so happy to deal with Jim. Thanks so much and we hope to book this again soon.

  • We had a fabulous stay in Jim's place. The location is wonderful, great views over to Sherkin Island and beyond to Mizen Head. It's very quiet with a lovely small beach just below which was perfect for our morning swims. The town itself has lovely pubs and good food and there's a local shop which has everything you need for a short stay. The house itself is comfortable and warm, we had no problems getting a good night's sleep each night. We'll definitely be back again.

For solo travellers and/or those on a limited budget, I also have a small private room with 2 bunk beds. Guests have access to the rest of my living space (inc large kitchen and living room).Baltimore is a great stop-over for route to the islands.
The bunk room is small but bright and warm, 2 people can comfortably sleep there.
I love Baltimore for many reasons, it is a small fishing village, it's famous for being raided by pirates, it has an amphitheatre for outdoor concerts, and most especially it is a fabulous seaside location, you will love it!
  • Wonderful house! I had great time. Susan is warm and very kind host. I've stayed this house several times. I love to stay the house. Room is clean and comfortable. Very quiet. I can go to the sea side by walk.

  • What a warm welcome I had in Ireland. It was beautiful weather and I had a very warm welcome with Susan. She is very mindful and therefore has a lot of attention. You can see that back in the house, it expresses love. The room is nice and I slept very well. On the kitchen table the fruit, the cereal, etc. are very inviting and I could just pick up milk. Very hospitable. We had a nice kitchen table in the evening and she gave me a nice tip to go to.

    Anna2018-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Definitively I'll come back! Susan is a great host, and is careful with all details to make you feel like home. Baltimore is a lovely village, and you can have a break of your routine just being near the sea. :) It's easy to get any isle, like Sherkin or Cape Clear, but there are special timetables during winter. If you have opportunity to visit Susan and Baltimore, do not hesitate!

  • Marie and her lovely family's place is outstanding in such a beautiful remote area that I would keep it to myself! lol Remote but not lost with a nice Pub next door and town is a 10 minutes drive or one hour walk. The bedroom is very comfortable and Marie thinks of everything you might need... A little gem for an amazing value...

    Rémy2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely room, very private, with a gorgeous view of the surrounding countryside. It has its own private entrance and outside sitting area, a lovely bathroom, a closet that also contains a small fridge and a little coffee/tea area that Marie has supplied with a few breakfast munchies. There's milk and cold fresh well water in the fridge waiting for you. The internet connection is decent. There is a pub just about 50 yards away that serves good food and great beverages and the beach is just about 50 yards further down the hill from there. There is also lots of information about the surrounding area - lots of history here as Skibbereen was ground zero for the worst of the Famine in the mid 1800s'. A very nice stay.

    Suzanne2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
