Places to stay in Smiths Ferry

Places to stay in Smiths Ferry
Cougar Mountain Lodge & Restaurant was built in 1941 in the beautiful Smiths Ferry Valley on the Payette River. We have 7 upstairs rooms that are rustic and cozy. We do not offer TV or room phones but we do have WIFI and most phones receive cell service. Downstairs there is a lodge lobby, a convenience store and a restaurant. There is whitewater rafting, fishing and hiking in the summer and in the winter there is snowmobiling and we are less than an hour away from several ski resorts.
  • This place is a great deal! Angie is a wonderful and helpful Hostess!

  • This place has really fun ambiance. Takes you back to another time and era. I loved it and the restaurant too!

  • Cute little rustic rooms for amazing prices.

  • What you see is what you get! The Cougar Mountain Lodge is exactly what you want if you’re looking for a quick bed to get off the road. The host who was staying on site was so helpful and she was also a great conversation, I can’t remember her name unfortunately as she deserves a shoutout. Was really impressed with the food (I ate both dinner and breakfast) and it tasted like an old school home cooked meal. The river nearby gave it a good touch and the fire pit in the evening was great to enjoy the stars with. Would definitely stay here again if I were driving through!!!

  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin is adorable and the food was perfect!!!! And our young waitresses were very sweet!!!!!! First time we ever had to share a bathroom and it really was not bad!! We will be back very very soon!!!!

  • Lovely people refunded my $ when they noticed my mistake !

    Laurie2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and a nice place to stay. It’s very basic, it’s got a bed, a table and chairs, a sink, and a mini fridge, but it’s all we needed since we were only there to sleep. Also you can’t beat the price.

  • Great place! Very cute and welcoming. Only tip, make sure you ask about the hot water for showers. 😋

You'll feel right at home when you step into this spacious living area with a cozy pellet fireplace and big windows that let the sunlight flood in.  It can get a little chilly in the mountains, so after a day on the lake or the slopes, make yourself some coffee, stoke the fire, settle into the comfy couch, and wait for the call to dinner. If it's warm, outside, you'll find it easy to relax on the porch in the backyard. There's also an outdoor fire pit for s'mores and good times under the stars! If you're staying in for dinner, the modern kitchen is ready to help the chef in you whip up just about anything you'd like. Pop something in the microwave, or prep your way to a great meal with plenty of pots, pans, utensils and a dishwasher for easy clean up. The cabin is accessible year-round and is located about 1/2 mile due east of Cougar Mountain Lodge Restaurant (located on state highway 55).  In the winter time, tire chains are recommended to make it up the very last section of the driveway.  Alternatively, there's parking at the bottom of the driveway with a 50 yard walk up to the cabin, if you forgot your winter tire chains (December-March).  You'll be walking distance to the river, if you want to go rafting, swim or fish.  The Cougar Mountain Lodge Parking Lot is where the famous Cabarton rafting trip bus picks up folks in the morning and is where you'll finish your rafting adventure in the afternoon.  Bring up your snowmobiles and park your trailers at the nearby snow park and ride some epic country. This single level family and group-friendly lodge also has a washer, dryer and readily available amenities for kids, such as a high chair and a pack and play (please request these in advance to ensure they'll be onsite). Smith's Ferry's unique micro-climate is ideally suited for the outdoor enthusiast,  beautiful in the spring summer and fall, and blanketed in powdery snow in the winter.  You'll be able to experience the many outdoor activities - swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, snowmobiling, boating, skiing, and more.  Unlike most areas of the US, this comes with thousands of public acres of tree-covered mountains and snow-capped peaks. We allow events here, as long as there are no more than the maximum number onsite than is advertised as what is allowed for this property (8 people max; which includes day guests). Up to two pre-approved pets are allowed with an additional $50 fee per pet.

Feel at home in this cozy little cabin in the woods. This newly updated cabin located in the Terrace Lakes Community used to be the old Terrace Lakes Pro Shop and was converted into a cozy, quaint tiny home. With a characteristic blue roof, a fire pit in the front yard, and an outdoor dining table with a view this cabin is bound to become your favorite getaway!
There is one full size bed in the bedroom and a futon in the living room that can be used to sleep one or two more people. The cell phone reception is not great out in this area, but the cabin offers free WiFi to help keep guests as connected (or disconnected) as they want!
Located 10 minutes away from the main drag of Crouch, this cabin is part of the Terrace Lakes Community. The development has a pool with natural geothermal water, a basketball court, and of course the unique and beautiful 18-hole golf course! The market is about a 10 minute drive away, along with restaurants, and the Starlight Mountain Theatre.
  • We had such a fun stay at the cabin! Everything was just as stated in the listing. I highly recommend and would definitely come back!

    Melisa2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Emilies cabin is out of a storybook its charming and cozy, nestled in the woods. You have privacy and a beautiful forest scenery that you can enjoy from the deck. We are a family of 4, we have a 9 and 6 year old girls and everyone slept warm and comfortable. The cabin was very clean and for a Tiny cabin it was much more spacious then I was expecting. She has a nice fire pit outside and a wood burning stove along with wall heating inside. One morning it was about 12 degrees outside and we would of never known, we stayed so nice and warm inside. She provided everything you need including coffee and tea. It was a very lovely cabin and she also had such cozy blankets and you feel tucked in and secluded but in reality you are not to far away from the local town and store if you need anything, or a hotel that you could swim in if you wanted to. Its not a far drive to town if you want to grab some dinner out. This was a adorable peaceful place to stay and we look forward to going back one day.

    Ryan2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Meticulously clean! We watched the elk from the deck, so exciting. Really close to the club house and golfing

  • Adorable cabin..fun trip..would rent again

    Jennifer2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place. Super clean and neat. The cabin is small but it was perfect for what we needed. Very peaceful and quiet setting. Great location. Would definitely recommend.

  • Very nice place. Such a relaxing stay

    Norrah2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Emilies place was a great getaway and perfect for my wife and I’s anniversary. Cute and quaint little cabin with a great great patio! Spent majority of time there. This isn’t a spot if you want 5 star luxury, this is a cabin and it is small. I would recommend just a couple or one kid that can sleep on the living room couch. But we definitely enjoyed ourselves and Emilie was very honest with her listing. If we had any complaints or something we would suggest is a better more comfortable mattress. Besides that it was amazing and would book again for sure!!

    Shawn2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cabin is better than described in privacy, quiet and beauty. Having breakfast on the deck each morning was perfection and I will miss it

All year round, 44th Parallel is the perfect spot for a peaceful mountain getaway. This winter you can go sledding with the kids, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, break out the snowmobile, rent cross-country skies at the clubhouse or harvest your own Christmas Tree. And the whole region is dotted with natural hot springs. There's lots of fun here waiting for you! In terms of location, the 44th Parallel is a prime spot for outdoor enthusiasts! This part of the Payette River is known for its superb kayaking and tubing waters. We are about a 45-minute drive from Cascade Lake, and about 90 minutes from McCall which boasts Payette Lake and a Brundage Ski Resort. We are only about 90 minutes from the heart of the Sawtooth Recreation Area, and an hour from Emmett, where you can pick cherries and peaches in the summertime. If you’re feeling like something more low-key, we are just a 10-minute walk from the thermal swimming pool (open year-round) and the golf course clubhouse, which has a restaurant, bar, pro shop, and plenty of tee times.

  • Would highly recommend! Very friendly, very comfortable and the breakfast Misty serves was worth coming back just in itself!

  • Wonderful time! Great breakfast - nice and cozy

    Nicole2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The first day we arrived we were greeted with warm smiles and Misty showed us around the place and fully explained where everything was. Misty's place had everything you could think of, yes even a can and bottle opener. It was also spotless and smelled heavenly. Misty's breakfast is to die for, hands down the best pancakes you will ever try! Both Misty and her father Bob were amazing hosts and helped us more than we could have asked for. My family and I had the most wonderful time staying here and we'll be back in the future.

If you happen to be here when the sun is setting and the light is fading over the gentle current of the river, you’ll know why some folks have compared this setting to “On Golden Pond.” Sleeping 6, The Bear’s Den is a cozy cabin nestled overlooking a soothing stretch of the Payette River. (River access is not next to the cabin, you have to enter at another stretch of the river. You have to walk down the railroad tracks for a ways and then find an area that doesn't say "private property" and walk through tall grass/bushes.) An old railway track lies next to this cabin adding to the peaceful nostalgia. Just a short drive off the Hwy 55 scenic bi-way, this cute little cabin offers seclusion and comfort in the postcard community of Smith’s Ferry. Right from the cabin there is great access to the national forest, hiking, fishing, biking, river rafting and kayaking. Smith’s Ferry offers a great little diner at Cougar Mountain and Cascade is less than 30 minutes away with plenty more dining and shopping choices. The Bear’s Den has all the look and charm of a true mountain cabin, yet it comes with WIFI to keep you connected. You can also enjoy television or a movie on the flat screen TV and DISH network. Sleeps 6.  The main floor has a queen bed in a private bedroom. There is also sofa bed in the living room on the main floor. There is a 3/4 bathroom on the main floor (shower only).  The upstairs loft features two singles. Overlooking the river is a covered deck equipped with table and chairs to enjoy a meal or coffee. Deer, elk and other animals frequent this area so have your camera ready. The Bear’s Den is a wonderful place to relax.

  • Super cozy, loved the view and the cute cabin! Had everything we needed. The wood stove was wonderful, so toasty!

  • Just a wonderful slice of peace in the mountains! Great snow. Slept nice and warm. Kids loved it!

    Kim2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bear’s den. With tons of snow on the ground, this cozy cabin was exactly what we were hoping for when we decided we wanted a quick weekend getaway. We loved our time at the cabin and will definitely be back. The cabin exceeded all of our expectations.

    Lacey2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I think, they can expect a very warm place, and I especially liked the central stove location and enough fire wood outside. Nice place for a small family or small group of 4- 6 friends.

  • Had a great time my family enjoyed it thank you

    Kristina2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time, fun little cabin! Very peaceful and quiet but close to Cascade for a bit of adventure. We really enjoyed all of the decor and fun items to look at in the cabin. It was very cozy and comfortable, very nice deck. The kitchen was well stocked with items for cooking. Short walk to the river, but not a good path to get down to the water. The only negative is the main bed really needs to be updated, was not very comfortable for sleeping on, would recommend bringing a egg create mattress topper if it is not replaced before your stay. Was very easy to get to.

  • Malinda's house provided us a cozy shelter through a snow storm. What a lovely place in a beautiful town. Her husband even came to the rescue in the morning when our car got stuck in the snow. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

    Kien2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our home away from home. Never felt uncomfortable and it was very clean. She was also quick to respond with any questions we had. We had our two pups along and she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we might need to make them comfortable as well. We can’t wait for our next vacation to the cascades.

    Kristin2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Malinda's space was fantastic. A cute house with everything you need right in Cascade. We walked into town and we're able to quickly drive to enjoy the mountains.

This charming studio apartment is located in the Terrace Lakes community, very close to the golf course. Enjoy many activities right within Terrace Lakes such as golfing, hiking, snolf, or take a dip in the year-round outdoor geothermal heated pool. Or explore the area and float the river, go white water rafting, fly fishing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, kayaking and more. After a day of relaxing or adventure, a comfortable bed and warm home will welcome you at your new favorite getaway.
This is a studio apartment perfect for a couple, small family, or close friends. There is one cozy queen bed as well as a full size futon, each with their own TV (with Netflix). Your home is private, however you will access it through a shared secondary garage that we rarely use. The apartment is located next to our primary home we live in.
We are located in the Terrace Lakes community. A 4-mile drive to the center of town, a 3-min drive (or a lovely walk or bike ride) to the year round pool and a stone’s throw to the golf course. This is a wooded area with very few cabins around. Elk and deer frequent us, often bedding down in our wooded forest next door.
  • Gin & Jeanne’s place outdid our expectations, so many little touches in such a cozy place, perfect for our weekend getaway. The hot springs pool is also located nearby and was wonderful. Thank you both for everything 😊

  • My daughter and I wanted a little weekday getaway from Central OR for her birthday. When we pulled into the driveway we were delighted with the easy access to the door. They went above and beyond on all of the amenities. You're not used to seeing the care and thought put into the amenities as the do and it was for sure a kind gesture. It was so cozy and the views were delightful. It was nice to have access to Alexa, Netflix and Internet. We also took them up on the swimming pool discount and it was so enjoyable! Thanks for absolutely everything and checking in on us throughout our stay! You have a lovely home!

    Rebekah2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot to relax. Private setting close enough to restaurants and grocery store so you don’t need to prepare much to get out of town. Geothermal pool is always a hit and terrace lakes restaurant and bar has a fun vibe unique to the area.

    Jesse2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely exceeded our expectations. Wanted a little weekend getaway from Boise and got just that. As soon as we pulled into the driveway we were warmly welcomed and felt right at home. Above and beyond on all of the amenities (my girlfriend was especially thankful and surprised by the individual makeup wipes and body butter provided). This is the perfect example of what a "cabin in the mountains" weekend should feel like. It was as cozy and "off the grid" as we wanted, yet still had all the comforts of an Alexa, Netflix, Hulu, etc. to stay entertained. Thanks for absolutely everything, would make the trip out there again just to stay with you guys again!

    Sergei2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint, cozy, and had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Beautiful views, comfy beds, nicely stocked for some light cooking. We did dinners at the local restaurants and the lodge at the resort, and did breakfast and lunches in. Quick access to the resort and hot springs pool which was a fantastic way to keep warm after a day playing in the snow. We were lucky enough to have a pretty good dump of snow while we were staying there and roads were plowed in the morning and they had someone plow out the driveway soon there after. Saw a herd of elk crossing the road from town to the cabin. Hosts were very responsive. All in all, it was perfect home base for enjoying Crouch/Garden Valley. Thanks for having us!

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderfully cozy place! We really appreciated all of the homey extras and Gib and Jeanne’s quick responses.

    Laurisa2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • It's well worth the visit and seeing the area has a spectacular View

    William2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

There is space in the closet to hang clothing and there is a keurig coffee maker/coffee/creamer/light snacks in the guestroom as well. There is a velvet sitting chair and a small laptop table. There is no TV. The private bath is right next door to the guestroom —off of the hallway—and is equipped with clean towels, soap, shampoo, and hairdryer. Since this is a modest-sized cabin, there is one living room and we happily share it with guests. You will pass through the open living room/kitchen to access your guest room. A favorite place is on the front porch enjoying the view or walking in the adjacent woods (see photos). We are often busy working outside, in the shop or greenhouse, gardening, driving the tractor, cooking, or gone fishin’. The front door is a keyless entry so you will use the code to come and go as you wish during your stay. There is ample parking space for your vehicle and trailer/toys. Please contact us with any questions before you book. Welcome!
In Smith's Ferry nearby, don't miss stopping in and enjoying the food and old-time ambience at Cougar Mountain Lodge! Our favorite is breakfast or their burger and fries menu. While you are there, read up on the history and say hi to Injun Joe! In Cascade, we also recommend Thunder Mountain Burgers, fries and milkshakes...... For a special event or dinner, Remingtons is the place to go. They have limited hours, so check their website or call ahead for a reservation. For brunch/lunch, we highly recommend North Fork Café. Artfully prepared Breakfast and lunch and homemade bakery items......my favorite meal is the soup and salad and fresh bread combo! For coffee, stop at the drive through at T Beans on Main Street or pop into Watkins Drug Store (Dawson Taylor coffee). In summer, the Cascade Store is open and serving Ice Cream in their ice cream parlor.Try the Huckleberry! We have had very good meals at the Lakeside restaurant near the public boat dock by the Golf course overlooking Cascade Lake. Highly recommend their Bloody Mary! Check out the Aquatic Center; they have a gym and pool open year-round; it is affordable and pretty impressive for a small town. Across the street from Kelly’s whitewater park. See our guidebook for more suggestions.

  • Excellent stay for my wife and I. Beautiful view, peaceful, nice fireplace, comfortably furnished. Had nice balcony would have used in warmer weather. Just what we were looking for....

  • My daughter and I had a wonderfully fun and relaxing time! I wasn't sure what to expect because of one horrid review (among many great reviews). I didn't agree with anything the bad review stated. The description of the cabin wasn't deceiving in the least. This is a cute, cozy cabin that was kept very clean and tidy as well as well stocked. We didn't have any complaints or concerns at all. I definitely would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

    Melissa2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a GREAT stay at the cabin. A wonderful location just a short walk from the lake and lots of fishing. A+++ Would absolutely go there again. VERY clean.

  • Cool log cabin in the woods with a great porch and easy walk to Lake Cascade. We loved our experience and would happily return.

    Dan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great vacation spot! Our cabin was roomy, clean, and only a mile from our family reunion location, you can't beat that. I'm surprised at how comfortable the cabin stayed during the heat of the day without the windows being open and no window AC units. Grateful there was 2 ceiling fans!

  • The Cascade Escape was exactly what we needed and more! It was super cozy inside with great views of the Idaho snow coming down! We also loved many different choices of games to play! One of the nicest and cleanest places I've stayed! We will definitely be back!

    Kirsten2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great little A-Frame. Cozy and well-decorated. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. This rental had the most well-stocked kitchen I've ever seen (talking about pots, pans, and tools). Staying in an airbnb for us is a lot about being able to cook our own food so this was much-appreciated. The cabin was very clean! Proximity to town was very convenient. If you visit in the colder months, be ready to leave your coat on for a minute while the place warms up. The fireplace and provided firewood was a nice touch. Overall a great stay and we would stay there again.

    Rebecca2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this cabin as the “bridesmaid’s cabin” for my wedding, and it could not have been more perfect for getting ready photos and having a leisurely morning on a stressful day! The decor is an awesome balance of cozy and stylish. The hosts even gifted us two mugs and candies, adding to the excitement of the big day. Even though the day is over, our mugs will be a reminder of our Idaho adventure!

    Karen2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the cabin. It is in a great location close to the lake and surrounded by pine trees. The area was peaceful and quiet and the cabin was comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed. Great place to get away and relax!

    Gabriela2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at the cabin. It was cozy, and the beds were very comfortable. The sunrises were beautiful, looking out over the field down to the lake and up to the snowy mountain tops. Deer appeared around the cabin several times during the weekend. The swing was awesome. Lots of bed space up in the loft--we'll bring friends next time! Glad to be WiFi-free, as we had good family time. (note--just in case you do need it, cellular service is slow). We had a great dinner at the Lakefront Bar & Grill. Overall, we highly recommend this cabin, and we plan to stay here again when back in the area.

    Carol2019-05-05T00:00:00Z

    Theresa2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such a clean little place. With everything you need stocks in the kitchen. From a blender to a waffle iron to a Crock-Pot. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. Comfy beds. So close to town (we actually just walked to the grocery store).

    Jenn2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the natural river park right across the street. The water was really warm and the kids got to rent surf boards and try surfing on an unending wave! There is also a nice new gym with a heated pool you can buy a day pass at. We also went to Mc Call one day and also visited Gold Fork Hot Springs, for a wonderful soak.

    Cheryl2019-08-15T00:00:00Z

  • This condo has lots of room for a family and is very comfortable for a winter retreat. The kitchen appliance are a bit dated, but worked great. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Great stay! We enjoyed our stay over the week of Christmas for the whole family. Location is great in Cascade, close to town and a block away from the golf course. Very affordable family getaway. The house is large enough to comfortably house everyone with a full kitchen, TV, fireplace and all the things you need for a cozy stay. Just what we needed.

  • Nice cozy little retreat near Crouch. It was the perfect place to stay for the 4th of July celebration, which was amazing.

  • This place is comfortable and convenient with the club house a short walk fromthe front door. At night on the porch you can see millions of stars and in the morningsquirrelscome to eat breakfast from their feeder. Park in the back to unload because otherwise you will be carrying everything up stairs and a dirt path.

When the weather in fine, dine outdoors - sliding glass doors lead right out to the wrap-around patio. This Payette River Hideaway features one bathroom, one bedroom, and a spacious loft for a small group in the main cabin and just steps away over the garage is another bedroom with a queen and a futon. The second full bath is located below the in the garage. Sleeping options include two queen-sized beds, a twin-bed, and two hide-a-beds in the main cabin, plus two hammocks in the loft. A queen bed and a futon await you in the bedroom above the garage (window A/C unit). A washer and dryer is also included so you can pack light! Best of all, the cabin is heated by geothermal water so no matter how deep the snow, the cabin is warm and cozy year-round. Outside, this home is secluded by pine trees and offers an elevated wrap-around deck on the main cabin and two decks in the bedroom above the garage. The sprawling yard is ideal for up to two dogs, though a pet fee will apply. This cabin is tucked away - please note that cell service is spotty out here – which will allow you to reconnect to each other. The best of Idaho is literally outside the door: - Step outside the front door and on to hiking, mountain biking, motorcycle and ATV trials; - Make a 2-minute drive or 10 minute walk to the Castle Mountain pools and hot tub (no extra charge); - Drive 5 minutes to the Middle Fork river for tubing, swimming and fishing; - Go 10 minutes into town for groceries, restaurants, art, the Saturday Farmer’s Market, and Starlight Mountain Theatre; - You are just 15 minutes to white water rafting on the South Fork of the Payette and 25 minutes to the Main Fork of the Payette River. After just a few hours you’ll love our Payette River Hideaway like we do – and like us, you won’t want to leave!
  • This place was just what our family was looking for. We love that it’s tucked away where more snow falls than down in Crouch. My kids are 10, 9, 5 and 3 months and the area was sufficient to sled around the cabin and not have to go anywhere to have fun. We did bring our golden retriever and he did well around the property as well. The place is not new by any means, but does suit the basic needs of a getaway without much noise or distraction.

    Matt2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect for the holiday week. It was super clean, cozy, and had a well stocked kitchen for making meals. If you're looking to get out of town for a few days, I would highly recommend Karen's listings. She is quick with communication and thorough.

    Natalie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was a wonderful host, this particular property was nestled way back off the beaten trails, warm cozy well supplied, clean and the WIFI was a life saver as we forgot the iPod with our music, so we were still able to stream our Spotify..

    Sid2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is ideal for a getaway from life! It was peaceful, well equipped, and charming! We are hoping to return in the spring!

    Rebecca2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for luxury linens and all the bells and whistles, this isn't the place for you. BUT, if you are looking for a cozy little place in the woods to get away from it all, this place is great! My husband was working in the area, so the kids and I hung out at the cabin. The kids loved the hammocks in the loft, all the games and books available, and swimming at the pool! Be ware that the water in the faucets gets SUPER hot really quickly! And if you are picky about the taste of your water, you may want to pack water for drinking. But overall, this is a great little place to spend some quiet time. And Karen was great to work with!

    Katie2019-07-27T00:00:00Z

The cabin's biggest attraction and renters most memorable experience is sitting in the jetted hot tub under the glowing lights of the stars of the clear night sky. Inside the cabin there is a full kitchen and dining area that make cooking and preparing meals easy. Two full bathrooms gives privacy for those accessing the shower or jetted tub in the master suite or the option of a 2nd shower in the guest bath. 3 Bedrooms plus 2 roll-aways creates sleeping arrangements for large families or groups. If six or more guests, please pay the additional fee to cover utilities and supplies.

In the cul-de-sac where this property is located only one property is occupied full time. This is a neighborhood of vacation homes with the natural feel of retreating from the chaos of society.
  • Janet was such an amazing host. She added a lil touch to get our weekend started right. The view was so beautiful. I will definitely be back.

  • Very nice and remote. Neighbors are a but close.

    John2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is an incredible host! We stayed at this cute cabin during a massive snow storm. We arrived late at night during the storm, and Janet had generously stocked the fridge with breakfast essentials. She made sure that the driveway was plowed before we arrived and arranged for it to be plowed again during our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with more cookware than we needed. It is clear that the kitchen is used for cooking and baking with all of the necessary supplies and accessories. The hot tub was great and had a nice view of the snowy valley. The wood stove kept us warm during the big storm, with ample wood provided. We would definitely be excited to stay here again.

    Mary2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is a great host! We were very comfortable and had a great time all around! The cabin is well appointed and cozy. When we arrived, everything was prepared with hospitality and comfort in mind. We especially enjoyed the fireplace, the hot tub and the sledding hill right by the house. Janet put many special, thoughtful touches in the cabin, reached out to make sure we were fine, responded promptly to any questions, and offered suggestions on what to do/where to go. We found the location well suited to explore the surrounding area, which had much more to offer than we had expected. I can only recommend her place and look forward to a future stay!

    Jasmin2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin overlooks a mountain valley, providing an impressive view from the large deck. A gas grill and large hot tub invite guests to lounge and dine outside. Inside are comfortable beds, fun western decor, and a fully stocked kitchen, as well as a washer & dryer. Everything we needed for a two-day getaway!

    Mary2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful location, a wonderful cabin, and a top-notch host! Janet was so easy to communicate with and even offered some local suggestions to us out of towners. The views were amazing and the home was comfortable and had everything we needed!

This cozy cottage sits on five forested acres and has a feeling of seclusion and privacy though it’s not far from dinner and shopping in town or a day on the lake.
The Ponderosa has been a long-time favorite for many Cascade bound vacationers. This cozy cottage sits on five forested acres and has a feeling of seclusion and privacy though it’s not far from dinner and shopping in town or a day on the lake. There is plenty of room for the kids to run around and burn energy while the adults rest and relax on the large back deck. The living area is equipped with a big screen TV and includes some comfortable leather furniture. The owner says he wouldn`t want his guests to have to sit on something he wasn`t comfortable sitting on himself. The main floor master bedroom has a queen bed and its own separate flat screen TV. The second downstairs bedroom has a full size bed. Upstairs there are two twin beds and a queen bed in a semi-divided area. The large deck is a great place to relax and read a book with a cup of coffee or a hot chocolate in the morning. After a day of hiking, biking, horseback riding, river rafting, fishing or playing on the lake you can come back to the Ponderosa and fire up the charcoal barbeque. After dinner, enjoy a walk, play board games or just fall asleep watching a movie. The Ponderosa just may become one of your long-time favorite vacation cabins too!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Ponderosa!! The place was very clean filled with all the necessary amenities. The cabin was in a secluded setting but just minutes from the center of town. It was cozy, warm and comfortable to come back to after each day out in our winter activities. We made great memories there and would come back in a minute.

    Darla2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect for our yearly family getaway. It was very clean and had everything we needed. I especially like the layout because it allowed those of us who like to stay up late or get up early the freedom to talk (or laugh) normally and it wouldn’t wake anyone else up! The large property was also a plus because it allowed lots of room for parking and games in the yard.

  • We had a wonderful time in this house! It is literally steps to the heated pool, which was wonderful. There is a limit of 5 guests in the pool area at a time, which but we just went in shifts, which worked out well. The beds were comfortable. The living area was great for playing games and cooking. We would recommend this house to a friend!

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is spacious, clean and the hospitality couldn’t have been better. The owner checked in on us periodically as it snowed a shocking amount while we were there. He had the area plowed for us. It was just an amazing experience overall! Highly recommend!

    Heidi2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin exceeded our expectations. We came up for a girls weekend (there were 8 of us) and felt this was the perfect place. It is very close to the hot pools, has a lovely location and an amazing porch! The host was incredibly helpful, kind and gracious. I give this Airbnb a HIGH recommendation and hope to be back.

    Karen2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, modern cabin that is close to many fun activities.

    Kim2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, a great experience! The cabin is very clean and well stocked. It has a fabulous large wrap around porch! The host's communication and instructions were very detailed, which was appreciated. One note to future guests is that there is a new rule which limits the use of the pool to five guests from the cabin at a time, so if you are planning a big group trip, just keep in mind that you wont all be able to use the pool at the same time. Also, the cabin does not have air conditioning (or at least it was not working during our stay), which could make it a bit uncomfortable during the hottest summer months.

This is a delightful and comfortable cottage on a working cattle ranch. We located close to Ola, High Valley, and Sage Hen Reservoir is just 45 minutes away. Here you can enjoy the serenity of being out in the country. We are located a little more than an hour from Boise. It is close to hiking, fishing, mountain biking, or just relaxing. You are welcomed to bring your horses to ride around the ranch and surrounding land. You can bring your ATVs to be ridden on county roads (not on the ranch).
Depending on the time of year you may see cattle drives, a band of sheep, bear, wild turkeys, deer, and more. In the summer months visitors will have access to our pool and hot tub. Hours will be arranged after your arrival.
  • Extremely clean accommodations with a beautiful and quiet atmosphere and very friendly hosts

There is a small herd of elk that has been wintering in the neighborhood. They have been showing up in the area due to the snow depth in the higher elevations. So please be aware of them when driving. We have seen them within about 50 feet of the cabin. This cabin is perfect for all your outdoor recreation. The Boise National Forest is very close by and there are numerous trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, dirt bikes or any other ATV recreating. There is a mountain bike ride printed out in the guidebook in the cabin. The area also has numerous undeveloped hot springs, (Pine Flats is one of our favorites and is printed out in the guidebook), or you can relax in the geothermal heated Terrace Lakes Resort pool just a short walk from the front door. Doc's Hideaway is cozy and relaxing after a fun day on West Mountain or site seeing in Valley County, so here you may kick back and relax while you barbecue on the deck or sit by the fire and make memories with family and friends.
Tamarack Ski resort is a short 15 miles up West Mountain road for a nice afternoon of Skiing. Lake Cascade is home to some of the best fishing in the state. It is best known for the ice fishing in the winter, so dress warm and bring your pole! Campbell Creek Day Use Boat Launch is 1/2 mile away, . Anderson Creek Trailhead is right up the road. Take advantage to some of Idaho's finest and most scenic trails. There's so much more to do in the area too. In nearby Donnelly, ride a horse drawn sleigh out to the meadow and take part in feeding the wild elk herd. New to Cascade is Kelly's White Water Park, with a great visitor center. Enjoy hours of rafting and kayaking fun on the beautiful Payette River. If you want to walk along the river, The Strand is a stretch of trail running from the north to the south ends of Cascade. It's so peaceful. At the end of the day, there's nothing like relaxing in the hot springs. Here we have several remote and rustic settings where the water is hot and the air is fresh, or you may want to visit Gold Fork Hot Springs with three pools and great atmosphere. Visit hidden mountain lakes, view wildlife, pick berries. There's many nice day trips you may enjoy, and lots of events throughout the year to keep you entertained.
  • What a great little cabin. We spent the weekend ice fishing on Lake Cascade and it was nice to have a warm place to call home for the weekend. It had everything we needed to top off a great fishing trip. Our trip was almost ruined when we didn't have syrup for our pancakes.... Luckily Doc's Hideaway had a bottle stashed away! 5 stars! THANK YOU!

  • DeeDee was such a great hostess! Very friendly and communication was always quick and easy. Everything was clean and and in order when we checked in to Doc's Cabin. It's a simple place, but everything we needed for a great stay in the mountains and the perfect location. What a great experience for us, one we will remember for years to come!

  • This cabin is amazing!! The kids called it a "cabin mansion" with its high ceilings, a lot of room and places to play or relax. The hosts were awesome. They were very communicative and patiently answered our questions. The little details were so perfect. We appreciated having amenities that were provided. The house is so clean and comfortable. We didn't run out of things to do with all the games, pool, ping pong and board games available in the game area. The scenery was beautiful and so close to the Terrace Lakes community area. If you are looking for an authentic mountain experience in a rustic cabin, then you have come to the right place! The home has a large deck that allows you to take in the lake views, and the outdoor fire pit is the ideal spot to roast marshmallows and socialize with your travel partner. This quiet forest home is the perfect place for escaping the city and taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the Idaho mountains. What's Nearby: Take a trail to Lake Cascade which is just steps away, giving you front row access to fishing and swimming in the summer, and the center of Cascade is just a 10-minute drive. The area is surrounded by hiking trails for you to take advantage of as well. If you find yourself needing a more populated spot to explore and dine, McCall is a 36.4-mile drive north. Skiers and snowboarders will no doubt take advantage of the short 16.8-mile distance to Tamarack Resort for wonderful snow and terrain. Things to Know: No internet access Dogs welcome at a small nightly fee Full kitchen - no dishwasher A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.
  • Really enjoyed this spot. Nice and quiet, easy access to restaurants and groceries stores. Several activities to do nearby. Dogs allowed is a huge plus!

  • We loved our stay at this cute cabin. The owners were next door and were so amazing! I would definitely stay here again.

    Whit2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was just what the doctor ordered! The drive up was visually stunning, side note- there is no cell reception on the way up. Google Maps took us on dirt roads, make sure you look at a map to avoid 6 miles of dirt backroads. There are dirt roads with medium to large ruts up to the cabin so be prepared for those. The cabin is quaint, but absolutely perfect if you are looking to just breathe. The bed is comfy, and I am a harsh bed critic. The views and neighbors are wonderful. We saw deer most mornings and evenings by the cabin and a wild turkey on a walk. I have never tasted sweeter fruit than that at the grocery store in town. Reo's Pizza has a buffet night that includes a salad bar at a very reasonable price. There's a road that travels north around Lake Cascade, totally worth a days drive. We spent most our days reconnecting with each other and ourselves. Plan to be back before summer's end.

  • The staff couldn't not have been more friendly, helpful and out going! For a quick overnight the value is outstanding! You will not leave hungry the food is on point and the ice tea was so good we had to ask what kind it was. My daughter loved it so much the owner was so sweet as to give here a zip lock with enough tea to bring home to make two gallons! We love Cougar Mountain Lodge and will be back!

  • Cougar Mountain Lodge was a place I had driven past several times, and always wondered about, but never really planned to stay at, until recently. I found their rooms to be well priced (especially compared to other offerings in the area). The rooms were very clean, and I found the beds to be quite comfortable. The shared bathrooms/showers was a detail I had missed when I booked (I booked somewhat last minute), but I did get lucky my second night and was able to book the one room that has a private bathroom and shower. Do know that while my rooms did have running water, it is well water, and smells as such, so if that bothers you for drinking, be sure to take advantage of the bottled water in the fridge. The rooms do not have AC, but do have window fans, and that did a good job of keeping the room pretty comfortable... it was a bit warm in the very late afternoon for my taste, but lets face it, you do not generally come to this area to stay in your room all day, so it really is not a big deal. While some of my comments may seem slightly negative, they really are not... I point them out so you may not be surprised, but know that it all just adds to the charm and ambiance of the lodge. I found that the other guests and I spent a lot of time out on the wonderful deck talking and enjoying ourselves long into the night on each night that I stayed... something I have not experienced at more "modern" hotels. I will be back.

  • You MUST make this a stayover on your trip! A vintage log cabin style property with café featuring home made meals served by an outstanding hostess and her mom. There is the North fork of the Payette river right behind the building to enjoy as well. The café also offers basic necessities for sale as they serve the local gang as well.

  • The Cougar Mountain Lodge is one of the most charming places my husband and I have ever stayed at. The location is convenient and the scenery beautiful! The place itself has everything one really needs and we felt well taken care of. The restaurant downstairs is a very special place. Felt like time traveling into a better past. The good old days are there to be found. The area combines a little store with the bar and eating area and one area in the back with interesting expos and other fun stuff to look at. What made that place the most special though, are the people that work there and the regulars that drop in and out. All in all a great experience of the real Idaho!!! We loved it!
