  • A cute and cozy getaway with a lovely full kitchen offering a nice private attic loft space upstairs. Branker is very attentive and quick to respond. I would definently like to come back in the summer once the patio is all set up!

  • Thank you very much Branker! Everything was perfect during our short stay.

  • Spotless well appointed little cottage in the center of a quiet little town. We came in by canoe on the rideau and the owner had no problem with us storing the canoe on the property. Perfect for 2 or 4 (mezzanine upstairs) full kitchen. Did I say spotless!!!! Visit the chocolate store across the street from the grocery store a few doors down! No cable or WiFi but it’s nice to unplug once in a while. Very well laid out and bigger than the pics make it out. Would stay here again

  • Lovely, quiet, and quaint. This location worked so well after attending a wedding in the area.

    Katherine2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean comfortable spot in the middle of town, close to a restaurant and grocery store. Great spot to launch off from to walk local trails and see performers in one of the Festivals of Small Halls events. The house is very comfortable, clean and has all the amenities one requires. The added touch of having coffee, creamers etc for the morning was a bonus!

  • A beautiful, quiet location for a nice family or couples get away. We had a lovely week of fishing, boating, swimming (great swimming spot off a public point 200 meters down the road), and exploring the area. Cute, rustic cabin with comfy beds and all the appliances and kitchen tools you might need. Access to a private dock for fishing and spotting loons, otters and lots of fish!

    Seeley's Bay, ON, Canada

Peaceful setting on Stafford Bay. Great for fishing, canoeing, kayaking or just relaxing in the hammock. You can explore the Rideau Canal from Jones Falls to Upper Brewers without locking through. We have 2 canoes and a 2 seat Kayak which you are welcome to use. You can launch your boat from the Main docks at Seeley's Bay or rent one from 2 local marinas.
The cottage is cozy but very functional. We have supplied all the dishes and cookware that you will need and have allowed for storage in the kitchen for your personal supplies. There is a supply of herbs and spices for your use, as well as an herb garden right off the deck. Linens are supplied. Bath tub with shower. The hot tub is there for your use, we monitor and adjust the chemicals for every booking. Washer and dryer are there for your use if needed.
We are on a private road with a maximum speed limit of 20 km /hr We do ask that you respect this limit as there are small children enjoying their properties and exploring the wonders of nature. We are at the end of the cottage road so traffic is minimum, making it a great place for long walks down the road.
  • Procrastination bay is the perfect place to relax and unwind! The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. We loved the coziness of the cottage and the hot tub was an extra bonus. Julie was super lovely to communicate with and the added touches she put in really made our stay extra special. Would highly recommend this place to get away and disconnect from city life.

    Emma2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Julies cottage and hospitality far exceeded my expectations. It was dark when we arrived and to wake up to such and amazing view and location was breathtaking. We definitely plan to return to enjoy the peace and tranquility again. Thanks so much. Mike and Leah.

  • This is the second time we’ve gone to Procrastination Bay. Everything was wonderful, despite the weather being all rain. A quiet solitude away from city life.

  • A lovely, secluded cottage in a gorgeous location. Julie and Andy are extremely organized and have put a lot of effort into making the space a warm and inviting one with lots of special touches. Very comfortable and relaxing!

  • A lovely cozy place in a serene and peaceful location. Julie was very accommodating and easy to coordinate with, even late at night when an unexpected family emergency had us arriving much later than expected. We wish we had had more time here to get out onto the lake and do more exploring. Would definitely come back :)

    Holly2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Procrastination Bay exceeded our expectations! A little piece of paradise! The tranquility of the surroundings was exactly what we wanted. Great outdoor space. Dogs had a great time swimming and playing in the yard. Kayaking was great! The cabin offers everything you need and the hot tub was amazing!! We will define back!

    Jael2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is the most helpful and friendly host I’ve ever received. Establishes a decorum of polite and engaging conversation to help with any assistance necessary, as well as aiding guests by leaving clear guidance and directions throughout the cottage. She is a super host for a reason. The cottage itself was immaculate upon arrival and the scenery that surrounded it exceeded expectations. Not too mention the beautiful towns and cities nearby that made for a great adventure aside. Highly recommended staying at her procrastination bay.

  • Relaxing. Quiet. Soul filling. This home is MORE than it shows in the pictures. It is a gem - providing a feeling of a peaceful, loving home. Everything you could possibly need is there. Bedding and towels were provided so no need to pack all these bulky extras. There are cards and games, kayaks, life jackets, a beautiful fire pit for a campfire. The house was extremely clean. No noisy neighbours, no issues at all. It was the perfect spot for my family.

    Jan2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning indeed and so tranquil, even more so than the photographs suggest. There is a beautiful new private jetty from which to launch the kayaks and moor up boats to explore the extensive system of lakes. The house is clean and well equipped and we had such a wonderful stay - we couldn't recommend it enough.

  • This is the most lovely little spot. The cottage is nestled alongside a bend in a creek, so that water and greenery are all around you. It is very well appointed with a complete kitchen, so snuggling in is easy. At the same time, a quick walk to town. Elsie was lightning fast in her responses and everything in the cottage and the property was immaculate.

    Sarah2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location! Very clean and quiet! We came to hike and we had 2 wonderful days with some great hikes at Charleston Provincial Park and Foley Mountain! Highly recommend! The cottage was wonderful and Elsie was amazing! She met us upon arrival and we loved her dog too! We used the bbq and fire pit! We also played board games in the sun room during some rain and it was so perfect! We can’t wait to return! Our dog and 9 month old had a great visit also! Perfect for families!

The Bunkie, built in the late 50s as a hunting cabin and extensively renovated through the years, sits southward on the peak of one of Dog Lake’s many bays. The Bunkie is a place to slow down and enjoy the outdoors. It’s a place to read, swim, paddle, or fish away the afternoon. It’s a place to enjoy an outdoor shower at the end of the day and gather around a fire, a board game, or a movie in the evening. It’s a place to create wonderful memories with friends and family.
We are a 5 minute drive to The Creekside Bar & Grill and The Manor Restaurant in Battersea, and beautiful Gilmour Beach. The Glenburnie Grocery, Lavalee’s Cookery, Home Hardware / LCBO, and Ormsbee Mercantile are local merchants for all your grocery needs. Kingston is 25 minutes away where you’ll find dining, shopping, and a thriving downtown and nightlife. Dog Lake is part of the World Heritage Rideau Canal waterway. By boat you can explore the many lakes, locks, and even boat into downtown Kingston, the base of Rock Dunder, or Seeley’s Bay.
  • The view is amazing. Beautiful place. I love the theme in the bunkie. Great value.

    Akshata2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at this bunkie by the lake had to be one of our best experience in Canada. An excellent place for a weekend getaway away from the hustle bustle of the city. The area was very peaceful with the lake on one side and beautiful pathways covered by trees and greenery on the other. The bunkie itself was very cozy and definitely gave a unique stay feel. The outdoor shower was a lovely and refreshing experience. Laura and Craig are very sweet hosts and it was very thoughtful of them to have arranged a box of toys and story books for our little one. It kept him engaged throughout our stay and he immediately fell in love with the cute collection of books. We will definitely visit again when we're back in town and would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a unique experience.

    Taimoor2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love for The Bunkie ! a lovely cabin right on a lake where you can get disturbed only by a loon or the brightness of the moon... granit is not on countertops, it’s the rocks around and down to the water... the composition of recycled windows and doors matched the poetry of the site... rustic, but everything is there and very clean ! Thank you, we hope we can come back on an other Canadian visit !

    Hervé2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Much better than expected and even the expectations were high. You are completely in the nature and has from the apartment a great view of the trees and the lake. The cottage has many small details, such as a music collection with a good music system or a DVD collection and many books. Bathing in the lake, canoeing and outdoor showers were also great experiences. For all nature lovers this cabin will be a dream, we highly recommend it!

    Endres2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience through AirBnB. Laura and Craig were so friendly and helpful! The bunkie was comfortable and accommodating with most amenities. I would definitely recommend this stay for a nice, quiet and scenic getaway.

  • I was looking for a quiet and calm place to write and this was perfect. Joan is a delightful host, the house is clean, comfortable and as all the other reviews mentioned, has everything you need to cook, relax, etc. Take advantage of the wisdom of the herd! The house faces away from Joan's own house so it feels private and cozy, with a fabulous view of the field of horses and the occasional family of deer. Will definitely be returning for my next writing retreat.

    Shoshana2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Joan's place is serene. A remodeled stone cottage with great taste and features. Joan is a wonderful and attentive host. We chose this place because of the possibility to be around horses as my wife really loves. It was a magical experience spending time with them seeing they are therapeutic horses. If you want to reconnect with yourself, a significant other, or mother nature, spending time here at Joan's place you will surely recharge your batteries and feel zen again.

    Milos2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A truly unique and lovely place to stay. Meeting the horses was incredible, Joan was very kind and accommodating. The space was sparkling clean and very cozy with everything we needed!

  • What a paradise! My wife and I were looking for a weekend away from the day to day life that we so often get consumed by. This beautiful place offered absolutely everything you could possibly imagine. It is beautifully appointed with a rustic feel, extremely clean and has a modern kitchen that offers everything you may need to prepare yourself gourmet meals. The location itself is quiet and has beautiful landscape to look at and admire. Joan is dedicated to make sure your stay is what you want it to be. She is passionate about her beautiful therapeutic horses. She offered us time with these amazing animals and we greatly appreciated it. The time we spent with the horses was truly a wonderful and rewarding experience. Joan’s place is highly recommended by us and we look forward to another visit.

Melody Lodge is a walk away and provides boat rental, bait, and ice-cream for the family. A canoe is available (free) to explore the beautiful lake.
The cottage has a huge screened-in porch, which is great for family dinners or just soaking in the views. Plenty of wildlife to be seen. The single beds in one room convert to a king-sized bed. Check out The Rest, which is down the road and also a great place to stay.
There are two other cottages on the property, but all three have a great deal of privacy.
  • My wife, 8-year old son, and 6-year old daughter and I (plus our dog...a 10-year old sheltie) stayed at Elbow View the week straddling the end of July/start of August, 2019. Overall I have to say we had a fantastic time. James and Anne were absolutely fantastic hosts. They were both very quick to respond to questions or to fix minor issues (e.g., when we first arrived the water wasn’t working, we told Anne and then Jame’s fixed it immediately (it was back on in less than 10 minutes)). They were both extremely friendly and their daughter spent a lot of time playing with our kids. The cottage itself is a bit rustic; however, that is not necessarily a negative. In my case it is a positive as it is exactly the type of cottage I like to stay at (I.e., as opposed to a ‘house’ that happens to be in the woods and on the water). It has a huge screened in porch with a large table and seating for 16 (and more chairs would fit). We spent a lot of time hanging out on the porch and ate almost all our meals out there. Down by the water there is a great fire pit area. It reminds me of the type of fire pits with a dock and a canoe in the background that you see in magazines as a ‘typical cottage experience’. There was also a small sandy beach area that the kids really liked playing at. The dock at Elbow View was ideal for the kids to fish for pan fish (they practically just had to drop a hook with a worm in the water and they would within seconds catch a small blue gill or rock bass). There was a canoe and paddle boat and Anne and James offered us use of their kayaks (which we didn’t end up using but the option was certainly there). A ten minute walk from the cottage is Melody Lodge where I was able to rent a 14’ aluminium boat with an outboard motor. The kids and I went fishing in it once or twice a day and I was able to moor it at the dock at Elbow View. Just down the driveway there is another cottage (also owned by Anne and James) with playground equipment (monkey bars, swings, climbing wall, zip line, ninja line, and a kids club house with a slide). Our kids loved hanging out there. There was also tons of wildlife (deer, raccoons, porcupines, wild turkey, otter, swans, geese, and squirrels). There is also a family of beaver that we kept our eyes open for but never did see them. At night we could hear coyotes howling in the distance and owls hooting in the nearby trees. There were a couple of minor negatives. The stairs leading down from Elbow View to the fire pit/dock area are a bit steep. There are hand rails so we were all able to navigate them fine but if someone has mobility issues this would not be the cottage for them. Second, the area out from the dock was a little bit weedy (it kept me from using my favourite jerk bait lures right off the dock as they would get caught in weeds if cast out too far) but the area right next to the dock was free of weeds so it did not detract from going in the water for a swim (off the end of the dock the water depth was about five to six feet deep). Neither of these things bothered us. In a nutshell, if you like things a little bit rustic (without being too rustic) I highly recommend staying at this cottage.

  • This listing offers an amazing cabin-in-the-woods experience. The place is absolutely beautiful which includes the trees, the wildlife, and the lake. The lake is very well stocked with fish. We really appreciated the private access to water and the chance to explore the lake on the canoe (provided). The listing includes a large screened and roofed patio. With the shadow of the trees and the gentle breeze, it was very useful for the hot summer days and evenings. I am looking forward to a return visit, potentially to explore a different season.

  • We had a great long weekend stay at Elbow View! The cottage is very private and quiet, and had everything we needed away from home. Although we didn't meet the hosts, they were very friendly and helpful in their quick responses. We were able to rent a boat from Melody Lodge (a short walk from the cottage) which allowed us to do some great fishing and explore the lake. Would definitely recommend this cottage!

    Emilie2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, and very private location. We used the kayak, canoe and paddleboat provided (a nice surprise!) to explore the lake and were blessed with good weather. A very classic, basic 60s/70s cabin – we liked the old school charm. Thank you for having us!

  • Lovely space, very relaxing!

    Jessica2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Elbow View is an amazing space on a beautiful, private corner of a small bay. The dock is a wonderful place to spend a day enjoying the peace and quiet. The cottage has everything you could need to prepare meals, is filled with an amazing assortment of books, and the screen porch would be wonderful with a large group or on a rainy day. We loved that we could bring our cats and have a true family getaway. While there is no internet, that serves as a positive, as there is cell service and you can otherwise just escape for awhile. This place is a gem. Overall, we loved our stay here and will be back as soon as possible!

  • Our stay at Michele’s place was great. It was very clean and nicely decorated. There is a sitting area upstairs where coffee, tea and snacks are provided. Michele has a nice breakfast made for you at the time of your choice and she took the time to share the history of the home with us. There is also a nice parlour downstairs to relax in and read a book if you like.

Brand New Studio Apartment! Complete with full kitchen & WIFI . Two minute drive from Waterfront and Downtown Gananoque.
Very quiet neighbourhood. Within walking distance to Waterfront and Downtown area. 10 minute walk from the Purple House Cafe and other restaurants.
  • The space was new and very nice and clean. It felt like a large hotel room, complete with toiletries. Good value for such a lovely space. Would recommend for a couple. The only very minor issues were we could sometimes hear people walking above us, the room could be bright since the front door was partially frosted glass, and there was a tv but no cable or antennae. That being said, they were minor issues. We would definitely stay there again.

    Doris2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Colin is a pro. Check-in was flawless, the place was immaculate, and supremely clean. From fresh condiments, to an iron, and extra toiletries, anything you could think of that you would possibly need that you probably forgot is in this place. Ample space; a HUGE bed; free wifi.. Colin is even gracious enough to include his personal Netflix so there’s something to watch if you so desire. In addition to all of the amenities, Colin is a supremely professional and courteous host. Colin’s Airbnb is head and shoulders above any of the hotel chains in the area, while maintaining a competitive price. I’d give him 10 stars if I could. If I’m ever in Gan again and in need of a place, he will be the first place I look for.

    Will2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Colin’s studio is a perfect place to stay if you’re in Gananoque. The place was very clean and had all the amenities. It was very thoughtful of Colin to leave us a box of delicious chocolates. He was always quick to respond to our texts and willing to help with anything. He also suggested good food options during our stay. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay and definitely recommend Colin’s place.

  • My wife and I travel to Gananoque once or twice a year and always try to stay at Darren's place as it has everything we want/need and is centrally located to everywhere we want to go to the point we park the car and walk everywhere. You won't be disappointed with a stay at Darren's airbnb but book it early so you won't miss out.

    Kelly2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice apartment-lovingly furnished with many details. Darren is a great host, he greeted us personally and we spent the evening in his pub. We got to know Max (his dog) and his daughter - great people! Everything great.

    Klaus2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy and stylish place in the heart of Gananoque, close and convenient for everything you might want to do. Our host Darren was very helpful, friendly and easily accessible, not only by phone or text, but also on person, since he owns “Old English Pub” restaurant below. Speaking of that, we suggest while you’re waiting for your main course to try the “Baked Brie encrusted with walnuts”. You’ll enjoy it especially if you’re wine lover... So much for the place, it doesn’t need much advertisement... See the other reviews. ——————— If you can plan ahead, we can suggest to plan a day to visit Boldt Castle on the Heart Island, across Alexandria Bay, NY. Do not fall for the 5-hours boat trip offered by Gananoque Boat Line. It will give you only 2 hours for Boldt Castle which is definitely not enough ! Instead - drive to Alexandria Bay, where you could cross to Boldt Castle with the “Uncle Sam” shuttle. 39 USD for two, including the entrance to the castle. This way to visit the castle gives you more time, you could easily spend a day on the island. Don’t forget your Passport, it’s in USA. And also download on your smartphone the Boldt Castle app. It offers self-guided tour of the Castle - inside and outside... Only with the app you could get every little detail and you could better understand what you see. It structures the visit and helps you not to miss anything. This was our fourth visit, for a first time now we’ve used the app - it makes a huge difference... Check in advance what is Boldt Castle and if you’ll be interested in visiting. If you follow our advice and you don’t like the experience - please do not blame us... There might be people, which are not able to see and feel what the other can. We feel sorry for them, unfortunately nothing could be done for that.

  • An Airbnb by the English pub has a special place in our hearts - not only the location is amazing, also the apartment itself is beautiful, almost like you are visiting England. There is a wonderful dog that gives you cuddles and kisses  - that brings the trip to a whole new level! The owner goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and welcomed. You also have access to the garden with tomatoes and grapes which is a perfect place for a late night chat and an early breakfast!

Private, rustic cottage amid towering pines overlooking Whitefish Lake. We are part of the Rideau Canal system, a designated world heritage centre. Easy access to water and walking trails on 260 acres of undeveloped woodlands. Best suited to nature lovers, privacy seekers, and fishermen, or just a romantic weekend getaway.
Guests have exclusive use of the cottage, and it's deck, as well as a waterfront deck/sitting area. There is a fire pit at the cottage and firewood is provided. Gas BBQ on the deck with propane provided.
We are in a beautiful wooded area along the Rideau canal. The area has much to offer guests with the Jones Falls locks just a km. away by water. There is a Black Smith foundry which offers historic tours. Directly across the lake from your cabin is the deepest part of the lake with rocks cliffs for those who are brave enough to dive. The popular hiking spot known as Rock Dunder is also on this area of the lake (google Rock Dunder!) and can be accessed either by car in the village of Morton, or by canoe or rowboat provided (less than a km.) Life jackets in assorted sizes are provided. There is also a trail on our own property which leads you to a high rock with spectacular views of the lake. Grocery store with in store bakery, liquor store, pharmacy, bank and hardware store approximately 10 km. drive. For shoppers there are unique shops in both Newboro and Westport, less than 20 km away. Thousand Island tourist area, 30 minutes by car. And of course, Kingston offers a multitude of activities, destinations, and second to none restaurants. We would suggest the Kingston Penitentiary Tour, (reservations required) , Fort Henry, and farmers market and free movies and concerts in the downtown waterfront area.
  • Our stay at Nick’s place was amazing, Nick and Jeanie are awesome hosts ! The location is great, Nick took us on a fall tour on his boat to see the colours on the lake, these people care about their hosts. This place is a must do if you want a nice cottage on a lake !

  • Nick and Jeanie are fantastic hosts, very thoughtful. The location was perfect, so peaceful. The hummingbirds where adorable, we enjoyed watching them every morning while having a coffee outside and the sounds of the Loons was so pretty to hear. Canoeing was awesome! We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to be surrounded by nature.

    Aaron2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great mini vacation! The cottage was spacious and well stocked. Nick and Jeanie let us use their canoe, and also gave us the option to use their dock if we wanted to. We visited Jones Falls and Rock Dunder which were each about a 15 minute drive away. The Rock Dunder hike was several hours long and supplied some gorgeous views! Definitely worth it. The water by the cottage was nice and warm, though a bit weedy at the beginning. Overall, it was a great way to unplug. Feeling very refreshed!

Tremolo Island is just the place to sit back and enjoy the amazing views while you let your dog or dogs run free! A private one acre island with a large, open concept main house and a one room bunkie at the back of the island. It has all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. Herons, loons, otters and ducks are your constant companions. Pets are welcome, particularly dogs. The fishing is great! There is a canoe and 2 kayaks. Conveniences nearby. Located in the Rideau Lakes region!
Tremolo Island is just that, an island, tucked back into a little bay at the eastern end of Sand Lake in Elgin, Ontario. The island has wooden walkways throughout, which makes getting around easy. The main house is open concept floor plan with a sleeping loft that makes you feel like you are in a tree house and another sleeping space downstairs. There is plenty of room for tents! There is a fully equipped kitchen, hot and cold running water, Wifi and a television for viewing DVD's. There is a bunkhouse or "bunkie" at the back of the island which sleeps 2 comfortably and with another loft space that can sleep 4 with sleeping bags and mats. Next to the bunkie is a firepit for roasting marshmallows and singing round the campfire. The main house has a wrap-around deck that reaches almost to the water, allowing you to feel that you are on a boat. The views are spectacular, sunsets the best. There is also a flower garden at the center of the island; it is another place to sit and relax.
The closest town is Elgin, about 10 minutes from Sand Lake Marine or the concession, where you can find Gordineer's Grocery Store, a hardware store, drug store and liquor store. Nearby is also Wendy's Farm Market, an organic farm with amazing produce, cheeses, meats and home-baked goods. The lovely town of Westport is only 30 minutes away by car but you could always wend your way up the Rideau Canal to Westport and see how the lake lock system works!
  • Great place (this was our return visit). From enjoying quiet morning coffee on the dock and watching the beavers and loons, to swimming in the amazingly clear lake, this place is truly relaxing. Carol is a great host and very responsive. Family had a great time and we will return again.

  • A really nice comfortable cottage in a fantastic setting. We loved it so much we are booking it again for next summer

    Roger2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning water views then this is the place for you. Carol was a great host and checked in with us to make sure all was well. This was our second stay on the island and we loved every tranquil moment. We used the kayaks and canoe provided to explore the bay and nature. There are lots of great fishing spots and amazing sunsets. The cottage is rustic but has all of the amenities you need for a low-key, relaxing vacation.

    Danette2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tremolo Island is a dream! A secluded, private island cottage with everything you could possibly need for a perfect, relaxing week. Each time we thought, “oh, we forgot ____ and could really use it,” suddenly it seemed to appear. Spent so many hours just sitting on the deck staring out at the water, watching the boats in the distance, the ducks, and the loons. But then also, spent hours kayaking or boating around the lake, with many little hidden spots to explore, and amazing fishing (caught a small-mouth bass right off the deck!). The cottage itself was very cute and had all we needed and plenty of space. Definitely hope to be back someday.

    Alison2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely breathtaking views with private island and cozy accommodation! Highly recommend!

    David2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Carol was a wonderful host. The cottage was simple, rustic, and equipped with everything we needed for a week-long family vacation. The dogs and kids had a great weekend exploring the island and I felt they were very safe there due to not being able to wander off. The Bunkie was an added bonus as well. It allowed us and the in laws to each have a space for sleep. Sitting on the deck on Tremolo island is so amazing. I saw the best sunsets. Carol was quick to communicate with us when questions were asked and very helpful and caring. Thank you for a great week!

  • Our stay was wonderful at Tromolo island. There was plenty of room for my family of 5 plus our dog, who loved being able to run and jump in the water. We would definitely return to Tromolo island! The surroundings were relaxing beautiful. The boardwalks were in excellent shape and were very helpful going from place to place on the island!

This two-bedroom vintage cottage is located on Cranberry Lake and offers great swimming, boating, fishing (tackle available), and wildlife. There is a playground for the kids in view of the kitchen window. When the nights are cool, there is a fireplace. Canoes/kayaks are available (free!) to explore the beautiful lake / canal. Check out our other cottage, Elbow View, if you need even more space.
This cottage has an open concept design with kitchen and living room together. There are great lake and sunset views from the cottage. There is one queen bed in one of the bedrooms, the rest are single beds. Paths lead to a private fire pit and swim area. We have any life jackets to use as well as water toys to borrow (canoes, kayaks, SUP, paddle boat).
There are only two other cottages on the 7-acre property. The land is buffered by a land preserve, which makes it very secluded. This is the place to come for the Canadian experience. We even have a family of beavers that recently moved in.
  • We had a lovely time staying at the Rest. The view out the window was fantastic; we saw a beaver swim across the lake as we arrived. The cabin was very comfortable. We loved the stereo and music options and the range of games. We enjoyed canoeing and swimming in the lake. James offered the use of kayaks but we didn’t have time to use them unfortunately. We would love to return.

  • The Rest is a beautiful and peaceful property. The cabin is clean and adorable. The beds are firm but comfy with lovely bedding. The kitchen has everything you need. The canoe and paddles are well loved and work perfectly. The lake is great for kayaking or canoeing and fishing (which we did not do). Definitely a swimmable lake but weedy so if you don’t like swimming in weeds I would recommend bringing a SUP board or some floaties. There is a BBQ that works great, there are fans in both bedrooms which were very helpful in the hot weather. There is a 5 disc CD changer and a book of CDs. We really enjoyed Anne’s mixes!! There is a great fire pit as well. Thank you very much James and Anne! We had a wonderful time!

    Krista2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of a place deep in lake country and incredibly quiet. The cottage is beautiful and quaint but also fully equipped. Would come back here in a heartbeat.

    Roger2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Rest is a relaxing cozy vintage style cottage close to the lake. You have the beautiful view of the lake from west and south exposures. Surrounding area is woods and lake and you can enjoy canoeing and kayaking, swimming, fishing in the lake and enjoy watching the nature and greenwood at the same time. There are fishing hooks , canoe and kayak and life jackets belonging to the cottage for use. there is also a playground close by the cottage for the kids with a mini zip-line and other stuff. Also a lot of odds and ends same as CD-Player, playing cards, back-gammon, chess and books to read. The kitchen has almost any kind of culinary that you might need. The Rest has a lot of windows and you would have a beautiful view of outside almost from every where.

  • Very comfortable and cozy, excellent communication with host and cottage clean with the required amenities. Would definitely return again.

    Suzanne2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We went here during the Thanksgiving long weekend. The view itself warrants a 5 star especially with the fall colours all around. The lake was gorgeous this time of year and you can clearly see both the sun and moon rising over it. Communication and check-in was great. Enough instructions were provided before hand but also during our stay as the instructions were printed and framed on the wall for easy referencing. Mel and his wife live on the same property so we were greeted when we arrived but also when we left. The place was well stocked with all the essentials needed. We enjoyed bbq’ing and hanging out by the outdoor fireplace. If there is one area to improve upon would be cleanliness particularly the pans that when we pulled out were still greasy. It was no problem for us, we just rinsed and washed but for some might be an issue. Overall, this was a gorgeous spot that provided us with a much needed unplugging from the hustle and bustle.

    Kenneth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views! Great spot. Spacious cabin and great location.

    Michelle2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. Mel gave us recommendations for everything. Arrival was hassle free and easy. Everything was very clean and we got to use the canoes! We'll surely come back if we pass by again.

    Cristina2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabins provide a rustic setting with great views of the lake. Free use of paddle boats, kayaks, canoes with BBQ grills and woodfire pits are top amenities. Taught my girls how to fish, catching and releasing loads of sunfish right off the dock. Bass were also to be had.

    Hugo2019-08-16T00:00:00Z

Welcome to our cottage on Dog Lake, a beautiful and serene lake noted for it's fishing, paddling and wild life. Nestled between Toronto and Montreal, we are the perfect destination for those needing some quiet time while visiting the 1000 islands. Build a bonfire, go for a swim, explore your surroundings by canoe or on foot. There's lots to do. Or, do nothing at all. Sip some wine on the screened in porch while listening to loons or read a book. Sit back, relax, and have a great time!
We have three cottages on our property. Each cottage has two bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other, two twins. The kitchen has all the equipment that you need to prepare a full meal. The bathroom has hot and cold running water, a shower and flush toilet. The water is from our well and is drinkable.
We live near the end of a quiet country road. Our property is part of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, an area teeming with biological diversity as recognized by UNESCO. There is a well-maintained gorgeous public sandy beach 10 minutes away by foot which offers wonderful swimming. Also within walking distance is our local watering hole, the Creekside Pub, a great place to grab lunch or dinner.
  • Another wonderful stay! This was our second trip out and we are already talking about next year! The accommodations are clean and comfortable and Sharon really is a wonderful host!

    Stephanie2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay here and I cannot wait to be back again. The cottage is perfectly appointed as described. The view and peacefulness of the location is second to none. Coffee on the dock or patio is dreamy. This place is the ideal getaway.

  • Breathtaking views, cozy cottage, exactly what we wanted. Great value.

    Yilei2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Can't begin to say how beautiful the place was. Came equipped with a BBQ, firepit, and canoes to go out on to the lake. The stars at night were incredible (a sight right out of Cosmos), and it was very peaceful and quiet. It does get really cold at night so be sure to bring warm, comfy clothes!

    Vandonna2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A fairtytale location near the lake with your OWN sub boards, kanoe, Kayak and bbq.. what do you need more???

  • We had an amazing stay at Sharon & Will’s organic farm! What a absolutely beautiful location. Very peaceful & relaxing. Paddle boarding & fishing on Dog Lake was fantastic. The birds & wild flowers were incredible. Sharon & Will were warm & welcoming. The cottage was comfortable. It had everything we needed. The organic kale, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and zucchini we purchased from the farm was delicious. Kingston is just a short drive away & has lots of great restaurants, shopping, & local attractions. We really liked Harpers & Mango for Vegan options. Overall great stay! Highly recommend!!

    Marie2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Because the room may not be enough, we did not stay and temporarily replaced other houses. Because we use foreign mobile phone cards, most of the time in the woods or mountains in the suburbs, the signal is not very good, there is some misunderstanding if we can't contact the landlord in time. I still can't stay but I am still very grateful.

    Shanshan2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you're planning on visiting Gananoque and the 1000 Islands (which you should!) then you should absolutely book here. It's easy to get to by car, perfectly located to reach the boat tours by car or by foot, and the space itself is beautifully presented. Highly recommended!!!

  • We had a great time here, even in the winter it's a beautiful location. The waterfront is gorgeous and we enjoyed watching the birds on the lake. Our dog Winston had so much fun exploring. The hot tub was a nice feature we definitely enjoyed. I personally loved the fireplace and the personal touches throughout the cottage. Host was quick to respond when we did need her for a couple simple things, we weren't sure how they worked. The bed is ridiculously comfortable which made it sooo easy to sleep in. It was clean and totally worth the price. Will definitely be booking again.

  • Would 100% stay again! When we walked in the door, the cabin was incredibly clean, decorated nicely, and smelled really nice. All of the amenities that you could need were there, without the place feeling overcrowded. Full kitchen, hot tub was quite nice! The back of the cottage on the lake would be extra nice in the summer time. Comfy soft beds, well decorated sheets, and even an HDMI chord to plug your laptop in and watch a show. The futon was quite comfortable too. Highly recommended!!! Every detail that could be thought of felt like they had already thought of it!

  • We were a family of 6 adults staying in main cottage. Plenty of room and did not feel cramped. This gem of a cottage has many homey personal touches to it, from live plants, cozy blankets, nice decor, large windows and a well stocked kitchen to meet most needs. Great spot/views for a winter family getaway. I would only imagine it to be just as spectacular in the summer and fall. Hosts were easy to work with and quick to respond to questions we had prior and upon on arrival. A definate recommend for sure!

  • Beautiful spot with great views of the lake. The interior is very tastefully decorated and is even cuter in person than in the photographs. The master bedroom with king size beg with lake view and balcony was awesome, kitchen had everything you would need, shower worked well with good water pressure. We went in the winter which was nice as we curled up by the fire and enjoyed the hot tub at night while the snow was falling. I can see how it would be an absolutely beautiful place in summer and fall as well.

  • House is clean, beautiful and has everything you need. Surroundings are magnificent. You can rent a boat and see the hole lake (big one!). The only thing I missed was wifi, it's nice to have non social media evenings but if you want to look for things to do it's a bit difficult. Would rate it 9,5/10!!!

  • Terrific brand new place with excellent hosts and lots of amenities.

    Rob2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Great hosts. Very clean. My grand children enjoyed a lot

    Elisabeth2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and his wife Patty were exceptional hosts, and added extra touches. The space was impeccably clean and although it's a basement it's bright, the windows are very large and you get excellent views even from the bedrooms. It was cool and comfortable in the heat and warm on the chilly nights. We saw white swans, hawks, loon, great blue heron and even a turtle and hedgehog right from the front deck! We used the kayak to go out swimming because there were a lot of weeds around the dock both growing from the bottom and blowing in, forming mats. They said they were going to get a rake to help move some away. We enjoyed the "lower deck" in the shade, the BBQ, and the campfire at night. It was a relaxing place for our women's weekend!

  • Steve's place was great. Its everything you can ask for in a cottage. The view was spectacular on a quiet lake. Well stocked with everything you may need and more. Steve himself was very quick to respond to any questions, and the check in process was a breeze. May be checking in again soon.

    Simon2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Steve was awesome to deal with, always stayed in touch, and the cottage was exactly what was advertised. The view of the lake was awesome!.. Thanks again Steve.

  • We had such a great long weekend stay at this cottage. Steve was such a wonderfully helpful and kind host, and responded quickly to all our inquiries. The cottage has a beautiful view of the lake. The dock was so close to the cottage, and was great for hanging out in the sun. The swimming was awesome, not too many weeds at all. We rented a boat from a campground close by, and were able to explore the lake and do some fishing. We would definitely like to return to this one!

    Emilie2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful week in this lakeside cottage!

    Barbara2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with stunning scenery that can be viewed through the large windows or from any of the decks. Steve was very responsive and helpful, and the cottage has everything you need to have a relaxing and peaceful time with family and friends. Fishing is available from the dock, swimming too plus access to a canoe and rowboat if you want to venture out on the water. Screened in seating area was great if the flies are out and about, but you can also sit around the fire pit which keeps them at bay.

    Mark2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and beautiful cottage with everything you need. Steve is a great host and very informative! Really enjoyed our stay and good fishing to boot.

    Sean2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We have a lovely stay at Steve's place in his large well equipped cottage. The setting on the lake is fantastic and the Rideau Lakes area offers plenty to do. We hope to visit again.

    Steve2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a really great time at Steve’s place. We went canoeing across the lake and did a lot of fishing there. There were great hiking trails around the area and we saw a lot of animals (deer, turkey, snakes, fox, and beaver). Steve was very good with communication prior to and during our stay. I would recommend this place to everybody

Bright, eclectic writer’s home! 2 bedrooms available, one with a queen bed, and one with a single. 1.5 bathroom house on quiet, tree-lined street with River view, big backyard, barbecue, gas fireplace, sunny kitchen. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach, downtown, boat line tours, marina and the Thousand Islands Playhouse. Parking for two cars. Please note: due to a new Town bylaw, bookings may be restricted. Please contact your Host if you have any questions.
1943 heritage house with lots of windows, art deco hardware, original art, living room, sunroom, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms, three bedrooms (one is mine). Very quiet location, across the street from the St. Lawrence River. Big backyard with barbeque. Adirondack chairs in the shade, picnic table for outdoor dining. This is a lived in family home, but all your bed linen and towels are designated for guest use only. We love it here, and think you will be 'at home', too.
The Thousand Islands is famous for its breathtaking beauty, with the clean, revitalizing waters of the St. Lawrence River, the many public access federal islands, and the opportunity to tour the River on the long-running family business, Gananoque Boatlines. With all the charm of small town Ontario, the stories of the generations of Canadians and Americans who return here to their summer homes, the tales of prohibition-era rum runners, as well as golf courses, fishing, boating, kayaking, and the world-renowned Thousand Islands National Park, our area offers you a unique summer vacation. May I suggest: •a world-class theatre performance at The Thousand Islands Playhouse (Ontario's only dockside theatre) • swimming at Joel Stone Park beach or at one of the many public access points along the St. Lawrence River • hiking the Marble Rock Trail, just outside of town or at the spectacular Rock Dunder, 30 minutes away, with a stunning view from the top. • live music in the amphitheater every weekend at the waterfront park •yoga classes at The Ledger Room • a craft beer tasting flight at the Gananoque Brewing Company • Swinging through the tree-top rope course at Skywood (20 min drive) • The woodworking museum, beach, picnic area at Grass Creek Park (10 min drive) • The Antique Boat Museum on the waterfront in Gananoque • tour historic Fort Henry or the Kingston Penitentiary Museum in Kingston • Heather Haynes art gallery 27 King St. E. • rentals at Thousand Islands Kayaking to paddle to the islands • Farmers market (on Thursdays in Gananoque from May-October, Kingston year-round on Saturdays); • Gananoque Boatline boat tours through the islands • a helicopter tour with 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours •monthly festivals, including Pirate Days, and The Writers Festival.
  • Charming home near the river. Shannon, the owner, was extremely helpful with detailed (and accurate) instructions provided well in advance. She was away the night that I stayed there but her instructions made everything seem familiar. It was a very positive experience.

    Cal2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon’s place is amazing and has everything you need. Next time we visit Gananoque, we would definitely try to stay at her place

    Mansha2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon is a spectacular host. The communication was quick and she was very accommodating. The house is quaint and beautiful with charming decor. I have used AirBnB in the past on a few occasions and this is by far my BEST experience yet. Thank you Shannon for being so warm and friendly. It was like staying with a long time friend💐

    Stephanie2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Shannon's place. The house is beautiful, the location is perfect and Shannon is a generous, delightful host.

    Tracey2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon gives a very good explanation, his house is cocooning. We felt in a little bubble of peace! Very comfortable bed, perfect location for gananoque. Everything is done on foot. Penny Shannon's cat is adorable and very huggable. I recommend 300% this place. Thanks again shannon

We love sharing our property with folks from around the world! They are always impressed with the natural beauty of our surroundings. Being close to water, field & forest has gifted us with an incredible bio-diversity. Guests are welcomed to paddle the lake and explore our organic farm. There is a lovely sandy beach with great swimming less than 10 minutes by foot. Stare at the stars, roast marshmallows, sit on the porch and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine. We look forward to meeting you!
Guests most often comment on the peace and serenity that our property offers. The birdsong in the evenings and at sunrise is amazing. If you're lucky, in the dark you'll be treated to the dance of the fireflies!
Battersea is a quaint little village with two places to eat, a corner store and a wonderful trail to hike. All easily walked to from our place. The Glenburnie Grocery is a 15 minute drive and offers a wide selection of local meat, produce and dry goods.
  • Sharron's place was great. We only got there just before sun-set but managed to sneak in a quick kayak. And what a great kayak it was. Lake super quiet, great fall colours and the sunset was also beautiful. This is a great spot, and if larger families or get together wanted would be a great idea to rent out all 3 cottages at once as they are located all beside each other, all with an individual dock. But it also provided perfect privacy as well, with trees blocking each other cabins view. If we plan another long day hike at Frontenac Provincial Park, Sharon's place will be top of our list. Thanks so much!

    Robert2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the place. Beautiful views and atmosphere. It is very basic but warm and cozy. We will definitely come again.

    Mingsheng2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the cottage, it was perfect! We loved canoeing on the lake and visiting the beach area. The location is close enough to Kingston to make day trips into town easy.

    Teresa2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful and cozy! I highly recommend staying here due to the beautiful area where you can canoe or kayak on the water or enjoy a cozy place close to Kingston which my friend and I did.

  • A great spot we used as a home base for a wedding in the area. Fabulous hosts and family helping. Beautiful spot with an amazing view especially this time of year ❤️

  • Great place to unwind and disconnect! Will be going back for sure!

    Nicolas2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was fantastic. It was exactly as described and had everything one could want. The view of the deck was amazing and the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an afternoon nap. The beds were very comfy and each room was well appointed. A great location very near Jones Falls and right on the Rideau. We will be back.

  • Everything was perfect! Thank you so much Allison!

    Stefan2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Allison's cottage. It was clean, private, and spacious. We went on a walk around the property to a lookout which was really beautiful. Check in and out was really easy and the instructions to find the cottage were great. The water was weedy by the dock and shore, but the centre of the lake was a short float away.

    Linn2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin. Very quiet and serene. The water and dock are not easily accessible. Keep in mind if someone with mobility issues is planning to visit. Otherwise so lovely.

The "Love Nest" is a cozy, rustic bohemian style apartment that used to be a workshop and is now a 3 story getaway. It has been carefully restored and decorated to create a feeling of peace and wellbeing.
Chaffey's Lock is a quaint small village. You will be just steps away from many beautiful sights including the Mill Art Gallery, the Opinicon Restaurant & Ice Cream Shop, Chaffey's lock-station where you will view many kinds of boats "locking through" the hand operated locks, the LockMaster's House Museum and the Cataraqui Trail - part of the TransCanada trail system.
  • The Love Nest is the sweetest, most rustic, cozy spot imaginable. We came in on a chilly November night to the wood stove going & warm glow from the lamps around, couldn’t have been a better welcoming. Henry & Veronika were also the sweetest; though we didn’t get to meet, they left us hot coffee for our first morning and were super responsive in checking in on us. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals, and Chaffeys Lock is literally a 2 minute walk down the street. We stopped in at the Opinicon for a Baileys hot chocolate after a chilly wander around, which was also a nice experience. The loft bed is sweet, the aesthetics are on point, can’t recommend the Love Nest more for a cozy stay.

    Louisa2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so wonderful to stay in! Henry and Veronika are wonderful and welcoming hosts. We arrived to the fire burning in their adorable little Love Nest which was such a cute and cozy space, decorated with lovely touches. Their place is within walking distance from the locks and a few other places, including some beautiful walking trails and the Opinicon (a great place to walk over for dinner and drinks - incredibly friendly staff and delicious food.) Henry and Veronika were even kind enough to invite us to a birthday party they were hosting for their neighbour, and it was a pleasure to meet the local people - everyone was so kind and lovely! I would highly recommend staying here and I would love to return some day!

    Melissa2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Although we didn’t get to interact much with Henry And Veronika, they were beyond helpful with attending to our needs. We had lots of privacy and it was exactly what we were hoping for!

    Tiffany2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little spot just a minute walk from the picturesque Chaffeys Lock and access to the Cataraqui trail. Veronika was available when we arrived to walk us through how to use the wood stove and generally how to heat the cabin. Walk over to the Opinicon resort for a great dinner and live music on Friday nights (we’d recommend the pub over the dining room for a more lively atmosphere). Also leave time to check out the resort grounds. Driving about 30-40 minutes will take you nearby towns like Perth (totally worth checking out). We cooked a few meals as well and the kitchen has more than enough tools and equipment (no oven but there is a bbq outside) just make sure you bring oil and condiments (pb, Jan, etc.). Incredibly peaceful surroundings with nothing but crickets and birds to wake you in the morning. Great stay and we can’t wait to come back!

    Lily2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Henry & Veronika for the amazing hospitality! We would love to return again in future!

Multi-level house with large kitchen and dining room area on main level, large living room on lower level and a bar and pool table in games room in basement. Large deck and in-ground pool off the dining room/main level. One minute to VIA train station, 3 minutes to Shoreline casino and 8 minutes to the 1000 Island Boat tour docks. 15 minutes to Ivy Lea international bridge to the USA/I-81.
As a well-travelled person myself, I want to share both my home and my travelling experiences with other travellers so other people can enjoy travelling as much as I do. After having travelled all over Canada, 42 of the United States and Mexico, and have been made to feel welcome everywhere I have gone so it's time for me to return that hospitality.
It's semi-rural location but within 6 minutes of the town of Gananoque - Gateway to the 1000 Islands.
  • Nice and quiet
