  • Steven's and Mary Ann's place was absolutely amazing. We stayed 1 night but could have stayed longer it felt like home. Everything we could need from shampoo to coffee even little jars of jam and Peanuts for the Chipmunks! I absolutely loved the live animal show outside the bedroom window of Blue Jay's, Robin's and Chipmunks it made my whole trip! Would highly recommend and stay again!

  • Steven and Mary Ann were excellent hosts. There were many thoughtful things including snacks, binoculars and suggestions of things to do in Sandy Cove. The home was very neat and clean, with a kitchenette. They are very welcoming. Would highly recommend staying at their home! Thank you Steven and Mary Ann!

    Rui2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot. Beautiful view. Steven and Mary Ann truly thought of everything from binoculars to blackberry jam! We had a great quick overnight stay after a day of whale watching and it was great to come back to a peaceful spot where we could bbq on the deck, stargaze that evening and have coffee with a view the next morning. You may sometimes hear footsteps from upstairs but it is a minor detail compared to all of the positives of this space. We travelled with an 8 year old and she even found a teddy for bedtime and we had some fun with the beach hat selection. They even put the “breakfast” in Air”bnb”. A little gem with great hosts. Would absolutely recommend this spot.

  • My husband and I had the total pleasure of spending 2 nights at Steve and Mary Ann’s beautiful home in Sandy Cove. We wish we could have stayed longer. The location is excellent for exploring the Digby area and islands. Their property is gorgeous...peaceful with amazing views of Sandy Cove and beautiful gardens with lots of birds and friendly chipmunks. The apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious, well appointed with a lovely decor and a very comfortable bed. Mary Ann and Steve were perfect hosts....friendly, helpful and respectful. We felt totally at home and could not have asked for more. The bar has been set very high for future Airbnb experiences!! Thank you so much Steve and Mary Ann. .

  • We spent a few days with Steven and Mary Ann for some some days off and whale watching in the area. They and their place are great and we loved every aspect of our stay. We would definitely come back :-).

  • My wife and I stayed at Steve and Mary Anns suite from Aug 30 to Sept 1. We have stayed at a few AirBnBs in the past but the 2 days we spent here are our favourite. Steve and Mary Ann are fantastic hosts and so enjoyable to talk to, we really didn't want to leave. They are located about 20kms from Digby on Digby Arm, there home is part way up a hill with views of St Marys Bay. Taking a short drive over the hill there is another beautiful sandy beach where one can walk, spend an afternoon and even watch the sun go down over The Bay of Fundy. The suite is very roomy and exceptionally clean but for us it was all the little details such as the supplies in the fridge that you may need, the english muffins and fruit etc. There were the beach chairs you take for a day trip, picnic basket even binoculars. The peanuts for the chipmunks which you can hand feed if you stay still, the view and the gardens are wonderful. Steve and Mary Ann also have a wealth of information on the area from restaurants, day trips and such. As for eating out you will need to travel back to Digby (15-20mins) or to the East Ferry (10 mins) but it is well worth the drive to stay there. My wife and I would not hesitate stay there again if we are in the Digby area.

A walk on the Fundy Beach each day is one of the highlights of Sandy Cove and we highly recommend it. The tides are ever changing and the view is never the same! Many families have been here for generations, since the British Empire Loyalists arrived in the 1700's. History is everywhere! Check out https://digbyneckandislands.ca/ for more information about the area.
  • The perfect place to stay! Such a beautiful space, spectacular view, great recommendations for places to visit in the surrounding area. Check out T.R's falls if you're feeling adventurous, and to Sandy Cove beach to watch the sunset as David recommended to us, you won't regret it!

    Ashley2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lewis Cabin is not only a great place to stay on the Digby Neck, but probably one of the nicest private stays in the entire province. Be sure to give yourself time to watch the sunset from Sandy cove Beach and enjoy a cosy night in at the cabin. David and Sarah have captured Nova Scotia at its finest.

    Ben2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were sad to leave this place, as the second half of our trip was supposed to be in Cape Breton. It was so lovely! Plenty of space for two people, a really nice functioning kitchen with all the necessary tools and such (we cooked a lot—stewed apples with local fruit and their provided honey and spices, locally caught fish, etc...) and tons of cute thoughtful touches throughout the space. There’s a Crokinole game hanging by the TV. Definitely recommend looking that up. My husband and I want to get one now. We would come back just to stay here!

    McKenzie2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage and a spectacular view of the harbour.could sit there all day watching the water. We'll definitely be returning

    Kenton2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The property is quiet, nicely decorated and has a great view of the bay. It was clean, very comfortable and had everything you needed (including barbecue and beach chairs). Particularly noteworthy is the stove in the living area. When we arrived we were personally welcomed, everything was explained and any outstanding questions could be clarified directly. But otherwise communication was always uncomplicated. We would book this accommodation again.

    Claudia2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a snazzy space, chocked full of amenities, a comfy bed and thoughtful space design. We loved dining on the covered front porch with a bird's eye view of the water and surrounding area. David created a great space for a getaway!

The private, 1440 sq' home is built on the hillside overlooking beautiful St. Mary's Bay in the quaint village of Sandy Cove. The updated century home features an open concept main floor with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living area. Enjoy an espresso in the dining room or on the deck, and end the day with a glass of wine on one of 2 comfortable sofas- complete with a fire in the original field stone fireplace which has been updated with an insert for comfort and safety.
  • The pictures don’t do this place justice! It’s truly a charming house, and beautiful view. The kitchen is great with everything you could need. We enjoyed spending time by the fire and watching the sunrise over the cove. The property manager Melvin was so kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!

  • Wow! This is a must if your ever in Digby. The cottage is so beautifully laid out very quaint and thoughtfully decorated. The views are spectacular looking over the harbour on Digby Neck. Melvin who met us on our arrival was fantastic warm friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Wish we could have stayed a few more days. Definitely highlighted our east coast adventure !

  • The home was wonderful. Great view on the large lovely deck. We made a wonderful fire each night to enjoy a drink and snacks. We felt very at home. The location was perfect to visit Digby/Annapolis in one direction and Freeport/Westport in the other while having a private home to stay. Leanne provided brochures and a wonderful kitchen as well as a spotless home. She carefully decorated all rooms with character and charm. The open floor plan with the view from every room was fantastic. Definitely a recommendable AirBNB.

    Tracy2019-09-20T00:00:00Z

This spacious 1800s home with water views is located in Sandy Cove, a picturesque fishing village sandwiched between St. Mary's Bay and the Bay of Fundy. Minutes on foot to lake swimming, sandy beaches, berry picking, fishing, scenic day hikes.
  • The Cottage on the Cove is wonderful! Sandy Cove is idyllic, with lots of activities for outdoor enthusiasts nearby. The lake is great for swimming and either beach is amazing for shell hunting or swimming (for those who don't mind a little cold water). The spectacular TR's falls is about a 20 to 30 minute walk from the house.

    Lucy2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great locations, super host, charming home--we hope to return soon!

  • I was lucky enough to stay at Ben's for an extended period of time when I moved to the area. The home is beautiful and spacious with all the amenities you could ask for. The outdoor space and village of Sandy Cove is amazing...it's definitely one of the more relaxing places I've been. Beaches are within walking distance and I found the drive to Digby to be easy (20-25 minutes) with a little convenience store closer for basic needs. Great place to stay while exploring the area!

    Emily2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The listing description and comments from other travellers were spot on. The house and area wear exactly as expected. Clean, quiet, well appointed... it was all much easier than expected. (This was our first Air BnB ) The area was fantastic, a few miles from town but an easy walk to multiple beaches and a detox for the family from our E connected lives. Ben's communication was top notch and area tips very helpful. We spent most days on a little adventure, whale watching, trail walking, beach combing, Checking out the islands and chasing light houses. But every evening was spent at Sandy Cove watching the sunset. Most evenings there were others there too and after dark the kids would have a small fire on the beach. It was picture perfect. The only downfall according to the kids was the slow internet. ( It worked just fine as long as we kept the kids to one at a time lol) We even stopped at two local fisheries and brought back lots of fresh fish. We had plans of going to Digby most nights for dinner but the house, the dining room and the bbq were all to inviting. Thank you Ben!

  • Ben and his families home in Sandy Cove is a very special place in Nova Scotia. It's steeped in the summer traditions of slowing down, soaking in the ocean air and watching the tides go in and out. A beautiful home in a gorgeous location. Thank you!

    Amy2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was the experience of a lifetime for my family. The house is beautiful, gracious, historic, and comfortable. Sandy Cove is a magical place, with easy access to the Bay of Fundy, hiking trails, whale watching trips, ferries to the islands below Digby Neck, and its own bathing beach on the bay across the road. Ben stayed in close touch to make sure our stay went well.

  • Only stayed for one quick evening, but really enjoyed Debra & Scott's hospitality. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, but also were considerate of my need for rest after a long day on the road. Would stay again!

The cottage is located right at Lake Midway, one of the few spring water lakes in Nova Scotia and guarantees super clear water and trouble free swimming. Enjoy a wonderful stay in this relaxing scenery to nourish your soul, let you drift into peaceful, dreamy tranquility and let your troubles and worries gently float away. Explore on short walks the St. Mary's Bay or the Bay of Fundy. Watch for the bald eagles while sitting on your deck or greet the beaver when he swims back to his home.
There is only one cottage nearby with also from time to time has some guests. On the other side of the lake, our housekeeper can be reached easily and will help you in any case. There is a small Picnic Park with a small sandy beach on the other side as well. There is a gas station about a mile from the cottage which offers also some basic food items.
Lots of sightseeing available as well as great walks or hikes.
  • Perfect get away for a family of four. Canoe, kayaks and even bikes to use! The lake is gorgeous!

  • This place is very good, well decorated, very clean and very well equipped. This is one of the most beautiful RB&B I have ever known. Anna is kind, helpful and available to advise us. I recommend. Thanks again.

    Louis2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Anna has created a stylish and very well equipped place to stay. With a large and well equipped kitchen and group area, she has 4 suites with on suit bathrooms and breakfast bar. The fifth unit has double bed and separate bathroom. Anna met us and showed us around she recommended a very nice restaurant and was able to get us a reservation. We wish her well and would recommend her to any travelers to that area.

Stillwater Cottage is a rustic, off-grid, riverside cottage located on the Meteghan River, 4.5 Km from Belliveaus Cove and Saint Mary's Bay. It is a destination location offering exceptional swimming, canoeing, fishing, woods trails and time around the campfire. From here there is easy access to the beaches, lakes and experiences of the Acadian Shoreline. A perfect retreat for all ages.
  • My husband and I stayed here for a weekend and it was a great place to unplug and unwind. The cottage was spotless and the woodstove made it super cozy at night. We would love to come back and stay longer!

    Lisa2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, quiet space to get away from the hubbub of the world. The wood stove was lovely to get rid of the damp in the fall air. Take advantage of the canoe to enjoy a paddle. It is a beautiful trip downstream. Although off-grid there were still amenities like hot and cold running water (separate drinking water provided), stove, fridge, a propane light and wood stove. The propane lamp gave plenty of light for the living room area, and the solar LEDs in the kitchen, bathroom, and deck were just right. Loved sitting on the covered balcony and taking in the view of the river. Can't wait to have the opportunity to go back!

    Pam2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here two nights and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. A great place to enjoy the outdoors. We had coffee on the deck, went for a canoe and had a bonfire. The cottage had everything that was needed (lanterns, candles, indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, hot water). It was clean and nicely decorated. I would recommend staying here especially if you need to unplug and unwind. The river water in front of the cottage is lovely.

    Angela2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely getaway to unwind and connect with loved ones and nature. This cozy cabin and property are filled with warmth and thoughtfulness from kindling, candles, LED lights, canoe/kayaks, campfire pit, helpful instructions and locale suggestions to hammocks and a clothes line to truly savour each moment. Jon and Erin were available by cell phone for any questions. We stayed before and during Hurricane Dorian's passing through Nova Scotia. We felt very comfortable and safe watching the wind dance on the river and enjoyed a cup of coffee before the winds picked up under the covered balcony. The propane fridge, stove/oven, and wood fireplace were truly a gift while 80% of Nova Scotia lost power. We will be back again!!

    Sebastian2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I travelled to Stillwater Cottage for a much-needed retreat from the city and our busy lives. We got that and so much more! Erin's beautiful cabin in the woods is remote and isolated and right on a gorgeous river, perfect for swimming. There are hammocks for reading and dozing, a canoe for meandering down the river, and a large covered porch for early morning tea or coffee as you watch the natural world awake. Erin is a fabulous host, who answered many questions prior to our arrival and was available when we had questions during our stay. Highly, highly recommended!

    Malve2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beyond wonderful, special, tranquil, magical place. It is very secluded and we did not hear or see another person the entire time we were there. The water is beautiful and wonderful to both swim in and to canoe along down to the lake. Simple, beautiful and refreshing. We will definitely come back in the future. One of the best spots I have ever experienced.

    Andie2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing getaway! Cozy rustic cabin with beautiful outdoor spaces: woods, campfire, teepee, canoe, river swing, covered deck... The host has carved out a very special place.

  • Our experience staying in Sunset Cottage was all we hoped for and more. The cottage location was perfect for our participation in the Gran Fondo. So clean and comfortable. We walked on the beach, sat on the deck and cooked some great meals. An added touch was finding breakfast foods and condiments in the fridge. Beautiful quilts on the beds and really intriguing art work. Speedy Internet. Hope they will have us back.

    Susan2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was impeccable. Very clean and EVERYTHING you would need. Fantastic for extended stays. The breakfast materials were a lovely touch and perfect for our late night arrival with no time to hit the grocery store. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The view of the water was wonderful and I got to collect a few shells on an early morning walk on the beach. Lovely deck for a coffee in the sun. SO clean, lots of space, epecially for 4 ladies to do a little cooking and dancing in the kitchen. The communication was so clear and helpful, they even offered to let us stay an extra day when the power was out from the hurricane. Overall a wonderful place to stay and a joy to come back to after a day of whale watching.

    Amy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stayed at the cottage was awesome, it clean, the view of the ocean was breath taking specially in the early morning and evening, watching the sun rise and set. Just wonderful!

  • Steps from the beach and gorgeous sunsets, this spacious home had the perfect location for our visit to the area. It had all the space we needed, it was clean and well-appointed, and the breakfast items were a lovely touch. Our family would definitely return if in the area again.

A private area where one can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. If booked for your dates check availability on my second listing, Ottoview Wilderness Cabins, Jessie Bay.
There is NO RUNNING WATER OR ELECTRICITY, however we provide container water for washing and there are battery operated as well as solar powered lights inside. Please bring your own drinking water. There is a verandah to sit and enjoy the views while you cook or to simply sit and relax. At night the solar powered LED lights come on at dusk and provide a cozy glow around the verandah. Because you are in an area with no street lights lighting is minimal. The cabin is equipped with; small kitchen area with countertop and sink, BBQ (propane provided), Camp stove (you must use outside) table & chairs and wood stove for heat inside on cool evenings. There is one set of bunk beds (single top & bottom) with mattresses (with sanitized covers), & one davenport type sofa (42” x 71” ) which unfolds to a double. YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. We provide pillows and there are sleeping bags available upon request. There are non-flush toilets (outhouse) onsite. There are SHOWER FACILITIES AVAILABLE A SHORT 5 MIN DRIVE AWAY AT A NEARBY CAMPGROUND for a fee. If you feel carrying your supplies to the cabin is a little too much we can provide transportation of your supplies from the parking area to the cabin at your request. There are picnic tables, benches, lawn chairs and a fire pit. There is also horse shoe throwing and washer toss for some outdoor gaming fun.
The area boasts a variety of things to see and do some of which include: A hike from the parking area to Tommys beach, (rough hiking) a beautiful rock beach that is private with mesmerizing sounds of the waves crashing the shore line where sitings of the right whale can be seen occasionally; sand beach in nearby Sandy Cove; fish processing plant in Little River, fish can be purchased on days they are operating; Whale Watching tours; balancing rock walking trail on Long Island and many other places and things to explore. There is a convenience store in Little River as well, however the hours of operation are not consistent. You may wish to purchase any grocery supplies in Digby before you arrive. Ruby Red Gallery, a newly opened art gallery featuring local artists, located across from the convenience store and operating 9 - 4:30 Monday to Saturady, is a must to visit. There is a Cafe at the end of Digby Neck (10 min) as well as a take out on Long Island and a cafe on Brier Islands. (Small Car Ferry to each Island)
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Ottoview Wilderness Cabins!! Jacqueline has truly thought of everything. I would even go so far to say that she makes it easy to live without running water and electricity. We wish we could've stayed longer and hope to be back, as it made for a peaceful and relaxing retreat.

  • Exactly as described.

    Travis2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful, a real oasis. The cabin was clean and well stocked with supplies (kitchen items, some games, bedding), the view is spectacular. Washing water was available and the lights and wifi were great. There is also a recharging station for your devices if you need. My only notes for someone not knowing what to expect: The road up to the cabins is gravel and rather steep. I have a little Yaris and there were a few tricky spots but just go slow. It is a bit of a steep walk up to the cabins so if you have a lot of gear, take a few trips. There is a little access road as well that Jacqueline can help with it you need. Wood and fire starters are provided for the stove but you might want to pick up some kindling. Be a good guest and go slow on Tommy's Branch.

    Lindsay2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • STAY HERE!! I changed plans last minute and booked this place without realizing it was a hike in. We were pleasantly surprised by the heart tree and the well maintained trail into the cabins. Topped off by the breathtaking view when you reach your destination. My 3 year old loved the freedom and the hammock! We will 100% be back.

    Adam2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and location were amazing, and everything was as advertised. Jacqueline left clear directions and was very responsive. There were many thoughtful touches in the cabin. I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Digby Neck & Islands area.

    Lance2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Morning Glory is a great little cabin. No electricity but lots of battery-operated lights in the cabin, solar lights outside, and well-stocked water tanks both inside and outside the cabin. The camp stove, although we didn't use it, would be very handy if cooking on the fire is not your thing. View is amazing, and firewood was appreciated. A short walk up the hill and through the forest from the parking lot to get to the cabin with a roller suitcase, but it was well worth it for the view and privacy. The walk has some lovely touches along the way. Would stay here again for sure.

    Adrian2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline’s place was beautiful. It’s the perfect get away to enjoy the wildness and came with everything we needed. I was traveling from the USA so Jacqueline even provided us with sleeping bags! If you don’t have the camping supplies but are looking for a great glamping experience she provides basically everything you could need. It was foggy the day we arrived but the stars would have been amazing otherwise. That being said it is in a remote location so be prepared. The road to get there is unpaved and if it has been muddy my little compact car probably would not have made it up. I also don’t suggest arriving in the dark because it’s a significant walk to the cabins and not marked well.

My home is located in New Edinburgh, Clare, a quiet area with very little traffic right in front of the ocean. A perfect area for a beautiful walk, run, or bike ride with the family to enjoy 3km of ocean view University Ste. Anne is only 12 mins away. On campus you can find a pool, gym and skating rink or enjoy a 5km walk in the trails of the Petit Bois. Beside the university is the largest wooden church in North America. 15minutes away we offer one of the most beautiful 18 hole golf course.
    The whole entire main floor.
Neighbours are quite far apart. Open space. Evenings have the best sunset.
  • Breathtaking View! Due to a last minute change of plans, this booking at Sheila's place was a last minute decision. It was promptly to our request to book, and was able to host us. The view of St. Mary's Bay is unbelievable. Incredibly quiet and private location, and the home is incredibly comfortable. I would highly recommend it Breathtaking view of Baie Sainte-Marie! Due to a change of itinerary, our decision to stay at Sheila was a spontaneous decision. She responded immediately to our request, and was able to welcome us to her home. The view of Baie Sainte-Marie is breathtaking. Picturesque, quiet and very intimate. You will be very comfortable here. Highly recommended.

  • A wonderful well built, spacious log structure house with cathedral ceilings, comfy beds and one of the best views from the deck or front window. Our stay was great, we played golf in Digby, visited Yarmouth and environs (lighthouses, et al), and Digby neck as far as Wesport. A perfect jumping off place for the region. Well equipped kitchen even had a large pot for Lobster. Enjoy.

  • This lovely log house is off the beaten track, making it very quiet and peaceful with a nice view of the bay. The architecture in the house is great and it would be a great place for a family to have a holiday together. I was traveling with a co-worker/friend and we enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves and having quiet evenings to chill in a homey environment.

  • My family and I had a wonderful time staying right on the ocean. Literally RIGHT on the ocean! It was my new husbands first time in Nova Scotia and first time meeting my Canadian family and friends. He absolutely loved it! My mom and aunt were always so good to me throughout my childhood, and now that they are in their 80’s I was able to give them a wonderful experience. Shelia’s beautiful home helped make their experience something extremely special! I’m so grateful that we were able to use her gorgeous house, the ocean view from every room was absolutely better than I ever dreamed! All of the amenities necessary, we at our fingertips. We used the stove to heat up our Rappie Pie. BTW the kitchen is so gorgeous, so many cool cabinets with everything that you would need. Beautiful outside fire pit with hammock area to just hang out with family and friends. Three rooms in the house .. all with way more than enough room. Closet space, living area, and even a reading area loft upstairs. The master bed (my husband and I used) was so very comfortable. My mom and aunt also said they had great sleeps as well. Such a gorgeous home! Shelia even left a bunch of special information about different sites to see and things to do in the area. She also has a cute little book for all guest to write a message in. Such a nice touch! Thank you very much Shelia for letting us use your home! We would definitely rent here again! Peace, love and happiness! - Schellie IG @nurse_schellie

Guests may enjoy seasonally available produce from the garden, and fresh chicken eggs. Pets are welcome if they are sociable with other animals and no prey drive
This listing is for the Guest Bedroom on the Main floor. The cosy house is only 25 years young, and was built with accessibility in mind, and to the highest efficiency ratings at the time. • Great place to stay and wonderful hosts ! When asked where to have dinner, Margaret told us about a musical dinner at a very nice nearby Acadian restaurant. She called them for us and managed to get us in, as they were already full. Fun evening ! She thoughtfully offered us 2 bottles of her home-made wine, as it was a BYOB place only. Great muffins and carrot cake for breakfast, with yogurt and orange juice. Wish we could have stayed longer !

  • To stay with Margaret was a little slice of heaven. Her accommodations were fantastic, and her property was even better!! More peace and serenity one could not find. You will love it...and, it close to the Digby Ferry. Thanks, Margaret, we all enjoyed being with you and Paul and hope we can return.

On the peaceful Digby Neck shore of Saint Mary's Bay are 4 self-catering, fully equipped cottages. Each cottage has a panoramic view of Saint Mary's Bay, the mainland, and Digby Neck. The cottages are off grid but are powered by remote control generator. The fridge, stove, hot water heater, and fireplace are propane, like an R.V. They are always on. If you need power all night to run a machine please let us know. Relax on the deck, enjoy a beach bonfire, behold the magnificent night sky.
Tranquility is our wheelchair accessible cottage. There is an open deck for catching the sun and a gazebo with a gas bar-b-q. There is deck furniture both on the deck and in the gazebo. There is also an outside clothesline.
We have Saint Mary's Bay in our front yard and the Bay of Fundy in our back yard. You may see deer, fox, raccoon, squirrel, rabbits, or porcupine on the drive. The neighbourhood is a safe and friendly place. Our beach is safe to explore at high tide as well as low tide.
  • The cottage is very clean, the view overlooks the bay and the pebble beach is a nice playground to make inukshuks. The operation with the generator was a little unclear for me since I have never traveled with an RV. Basically, there is no electricity unless you leave the generator. On the other hand, the fridge, the stove and the hot water tank are powered by propane. If you want to avoid the noise of the generator, there are candles in the cottage and a home if it's colder. The best solution for us was headlamps like camping. There is still a satellite coverage for the phone that was recharged using the car. In short, it is not embarrassing, if you are ready to live a little disconnected. For us it was perfect ... we were looking for peace and nature.

  • Great spot, wonderful hosts and a million dollar view.

    Matt2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful views of the ocean and thousands of stars at night by the campfire. You must visit here!

    Judi2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is off the beaten path - which we liked. The 4 cottages are far enough apart to not really see or hear the others, except for the generators. Each cottage has its own generator to turn on or off at will. On couple showed up on our last day and ran the generator non-stop, which was too bad, but we heard it in the distance. This would be a great place to rent with others - get all 4 cottages and have the whole place to yourselves!

  • Lovely location with amazing views!

  • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay st one of these secluded cabins. Very quiet but comfortable. We thought it would be a great place for a family vacation; unplug and play games, hike, enjoy a bonfire on the beach. Linda was a great hostess and our cabin was well made and maintained.

    Mary2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This location is amazing! We saw dolphins and seals in the bay from our porch. It was a magical stay and I wished we could have stayed longer. The master bed was so comfortable and I watched the sunrise over the Bay from it. Be warned that it is remote. Pick up supplies (coffee, cream, food) in Digby before going out to the location.

    Kate2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a place to get away, to unplug and unwind, this is the place to go! It was so peaceful and relaxing with an awesome view! Linda was an awesome host! We highly recommend this place! We plan on going again in the future!

The house was built in the 1940s and has been kept up on a regular basis, with all its needs looked after. It is on the end of a private lane, with few surrounding neighbours. It is a wonderful hideaway for those looking to rest and relax or a family to enjoy a rural vacation with the sea a short walk away. Sheets, towels, pots/pans, dishes and a full range of comfortable furniture are all waiting for you.
    A quiet rural setting
  • This place exceeded our expectations. Helen and John are awesome hosts and offered wonderful tips on what to do and see on the island .The location is perfect , beaches are beautiful and the people are so kind here . I will definitely come back.

  • Fantastic base from which to see the Digby Neck area. The house is very clean and comfortable and the hosts are fantastic. Our family really enjoyed the stay!

  • Gram's House is cozy, comfortable and very clean. It is well stocked with the essentials, and John and Helen are very welcoming and approachable. The location is great , particularly if you have pets or small children. In our case, we were visiting with both and they enjoyed the freedom to run and explore in the spacious backyard. We would certainly recommend this dear little home -its practical comfort, and the beauty and quiet of its surroundings are the perfect combination for a stay that restores and refreshes.

  • The house was complete and had everything we needed! Including homemade chocolate cookies, that I didn't 'need' but they were awesome!!! The space is quiet, clean and very nice. Hosts John and Helen were friendly, available when required and not imposing AT ALL. We loved our stay.

    Michael2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gram’s Place is a nice and clean quaint house with 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen, 1 and 1/2 baths, a living room with views, a dining room and a deck out back with a grill for cooking out. Road up to the house is a bit bumpy and might not be adequate for vehicles that sit low to the ground but regular cars and suv’s do ok. I highly recommend Gram’s place!

  • Where to start...the dark sky with the Milky Way, the sound of the waves, the deep sleep you'll have? All that and more when you stay! Great accommodations, amazing location and fun hosts -- you can't go wrong. Remember a flashlight so you can get back to your cabin once you've visited the fire pit on the beach -- that dark sky is REALLY dark if you're on foot.

    Lynn2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 truly enjoyed our stay at Graham's cottage. The view of the bay and the access to the beach for exploring and looking for sea glass was so relaxing. The cottage was simple yet very nice, with many thoughtful touches. While here for 3 nights we made day trips along Digby Neck, out to Brier Island, and to Tiverton for whale watching. We picked up groceries at Sobeys in Digby before driving out to the cottage (about 25 min distance). The cabin has a fridge and stove that run on propane. The lights and water pump will need the generator turned on, but it's not too loud and we managed to use it very little to keep things as rustic as possible. There are other cabins but they are set apart enough that you will forget they are there. Once in a while we heard a generator running for a bit, but that's it. Linda was so nice when we arrived, gave us lots of suggestions, and her husband even gave us some fresh halibut that we added to dinner that night. Thumbs up all the way. Would certainly consider returning, although there is so much more to see in Nova Scotia!!

  • Ok. FANTASTIC. A truely exceptional experience. Canadian "camp" culture at it's best. Everything possible provided, sewing kit, razor with new blades, mega cooking utensils for those big lobsters you'll cook. Seriously don't have the words to describe the view, the ocean, the breeze, the raspberries you can pick & eat all the way down to the beach. Don't miss Sandy beach 4km down the road. Omg! The whale watching was incredible with 3 humpback whales hanging around the boat for an hour. So close the blowhole spray got on us. We'll be back. 'Nuff said! Ps Get your groceries at Sobey's or another one by Walmart in Digby. Fish/lobster/scallops at Birch St fish house in Digby.

  • The Serenity Cabin is a wonderful place to spend some time. We had everything we needed inside the cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. The view of St. Mary's Bay was spectacular. Sunrise was beautiful and was twilight coming in the evening. Moonlight on St. Mary's Bay was just as wonderful as sunrise. Linda helped with getting a dog sitter for us to go whale watching. Whenever we had a question before arriving the responses were quick. Linda did everything she could to make our vacation top notch. The cabin is on a well maintained gravel road. We had a rear wheel drive rental car and had no problem getting in and out. The only thing that could have been better was to have spent more time at Serenity Cabin.

    Joseph2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A great quiet place, beautiful scenery and close to everything, beach, whale watching and wharf so you can see the tide come in and out.Highly recommend this place.

    Leon2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The lane opens to a wonderful ocean vista, complete with cool breezes and friendly/informative hosts. Although rocky, we found handfuls of sea glass, a gigantic lobster and other treasures. The cabin was extremely clean and the wood finish was lovely. Our dog enjoyed his stay at a sitter that Linda recommended while we watched whales breech from a zodiak. We enjoyed fresh haddock, delivered by ATV and had great conversations while the kids played with Gyp, the playful sheppard at the office. It was a trip to remember. I'd recommend Graham's Pioneer Retreat to anyone looking for a restful sleep, the sound of ocean waves, and accommodating, responsive hosts.

A bright cosy accessible bungalow with space and amenities to relax while exploring the area. The property is 4.5 acres, originally inhabited by the Wabanaki Confederacy and Mi'qmak First Nations People. A short stroll along the settlers' wagon trail through a serene fern forest brings you through the estuary, to a wide sandy beach. Guests may enjoy seasonally available produce from the garden, and fresh chicken eggs. Pets are welcome if they are sociable with other animals and no prey drive
The cosy house is only 25 years young, and was built with accessibility in mind, and to the highest efficiency ratings at the time. There is a forest, salt marsh, and sandy beach at the end of the property with a west-facing sunset view. Bedrooms all have top quality mattresses and bedding. A transfer lift can be rented for you at cost, from a local accessibility equipment supplier, if needed. Washrooms feature basic accessibility grab bars. There is a shower with grab bars and a seat. There are stacks of fresh towels in the cabinet, and many extra toiletries available, in case you forget something. The kitchen is fully equipped with the usual conveniences, and there is a gas BBQ outside. The house has great tasting UV filtered well water. Guests are welcome to prepare (and clean up) their own meals. Many basic ingredients like spices, flour and sugar are ready to use. Any special ingredients you need, such as gluten-free products, or halal meat should be requested in advance, since local grocers are small and tend to close early. Grocery items you request must be reimbursed to the host at cost. There is wireless high speed internet on site with many online digital media sources (but no cable TV). Rooms can be rented individually, or rent the main floor for a flat rate. Even when the house is fully occupied, the host will also be living on site managing the mini-farm that started in 2019. Seasonally available vegetables and fresh eggs will be offered to guests, whenever available. Along with small farm animals, two friendly dogs live here. If you have an aversion to dogs for religious or personal reasons, please let us know in advance so they can be kept in their own area.
The south-west shore of Nova Scotia is known for its warm welcoming people, Acadian culture, and remarkable natural beauty. The region is known for its seafood, including scallops and lobster. Close to University Ste Anne, and many historic sites and churches, guests may enjoy world-class beaches in the area, whale watching or bird watching, hiking, fishing, clamming, cycling, golf, antiqueing, local music and artists, including a thriving quilting guild, Acadian culture and festivals. Following the Lighthouse route along the shore takes you through breathtaking views. We are nestled midway between Digby, Bay of a Fundy, and Annapolis Valley wine country to the north, and Yarmouth and Shelburne and the South Shore to the south.
  • Lovely, warm host. Tidy & comfy accommodations.

  • We had a lovely stay at Nicole's home for the weekend when we were in town for the Gran Fondo bike ride. Nicole made us feel right at home and cooked us a yummy breakfast each morning. It was a perfect location. The kids loved seeing all the chickens and it was just a short walk down to the water.

    Heather2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • AMaZinG!! I cannot say enough about how great Nicole is as a host. The 5 min walk to the beach was incredibly beautiful! We drove the coast on Nicole's advise and met a fisherman who invited us to his house to weave baskets. The fact that this is the "norm" for hospitality is surreal. Be sure to check out the tallest wooden church and the wharf. And, of course, plan to spend hours walking or sitting on Nicole's beach collecting shells or reading. She even surprised us with breakfast which we were more than happy to enjoy. As she "warns", there are dogs and chickens and quail. It really adds to the uniqueness to the experience that we loved.

Lots of small farm animals which we all enjoyed being able to see and interact with. Will definitely recommend and will stay again if in the area.

Outstanding breakfast features eggs, jam, cheese, milk, herbs and veggies and all lovingly produced on the farm using natural methods. Swimming and riverside meditation on site. Delightful horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats all are beloved members of our family. Adorable puppies and goat cuddling/ hiking sessions by appointment in Sept Oct! If you are an animal lover, you will be in paradise!
Very quiet rural area. Owls and foxes can be overheard chattering and hooting at night.
  • Wonderful and accommodating host. The goat cheese omelette in the morning was to die for.

  • Our stay here exceeded our expectations! We were very pleased with the hospitality and the farm was lovely! The breakfast in the morning was all made with fresh ingredients from the farm and we had fresh goats milk for our coffee. We were fortunate enough to spend lots of time outside on the farm with Virginia and all the animals- horses, goats, chickens and puppies! We also had a chance to explore the hiking trail which has an unbelievable view of the Sissiboo river! Very peaceful & unique- highly recommend!

  • Virginia is a wonderful host! We had a great time in her farm; we felt comfortable and welcome. It's a great place to stay if you like nature, cats (Verveine is so sweet!) and tranquillity. Virginia's breakfast is to die for! Thank you again!

    Claire2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Virginia is an extremely lovely lady, who has the most gorgeous farm. Due to recently born puppies being housed inside (oh they were beautiful!!), Virginia had changed my booking slightly. So I was lucky to get the extra space of the repurposed cheese making area - now a unique apartment! As per the previous review, there are few curtains & water use needs to be watched - but like that reviewer, I loved it - was great to wake up to the trees & Lupin surrounding you. Be assured it is very private! I loved the quiet restful feel of the farm & found the walk down to the river stunning. Breakfast was amazing - Virginia makes the best goats feta I’ve ever tasted!! If you love peace, quiet & unique accommodation this place fits the bill.

    Maria2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We picked this place, to have a night of peace. No hassle, no bustle, just soilitude . Virginia is one busy woman, and she still finds the time to be a great hostess. She showed us the animals, even though we were late. In the morning we could hear puppies that were born last night. And in the morning she started us off with a wonderful homemade breakfast. I’m sure we will stop in again, whenever we return East. Thank you Helen & Don

  • Virginia is a lovely young woman who takes care of her own farm in the country. She puts lots of heart and soul in everything she does. If you're looking for an authentic heart warming stay with lots of animals, pets and organic food, this is the best.

  • We had a wonderful time on this working farm, with many animals both indoors and outdoors. Our 2yo loves animals, so it was perfect for us. Virginia is a welcoming, gracious host, and provides a hearty farm breakfast each morning, as well as lovely conversation. She introduced us to all the animals, and welcomed us to interact with them as much as we wanted. She was also thoughtful in kenneling the more rambunctious dogs as our toddler got used to them. Three things that weren't an issue for us, but may be for other travelers with different needs: privacy, water, and cleanliness. (1) There is a more private apartment, but we stayed as a family in a small room cordoned off from that apartment by a windowed door, with a draped sheet as privacy shield. We spent hardly any time in that room during the day so it wasn't a problem, and the quiet farm nights gave us decent sleep. If you need more space and privacy, opt for the apartment. (2) The farm is on a well water system. Conservation is important, so water use is restricted, and shower times are requested to be under 5 min. (3) Finally, in terms of cleanliness, if you have a low threshold for animal hair and the basic dust of life, a farm stay may not be the best choice. We loved our visit to the farm, and felt it was a great example of what can make there Airbnb process so unique.

Guests may enjoy seasonally available produce from the garden, and fresh chicken eggs. Pets are welcome if they are sociable with other animals and no prey drive
This listing is for the Master Bedroom which has an en-suite half bathroom. A transfer lift can be rented for you at cost, from a local accessibility equipment supplier, if needed. Washrooms feature basic accessibility grab bars. There is a shower with a seat, and a bath with transfer chair. There are stacks of fresh towels, and many extra toiletries available, in case you forget something. Rooms can be rented individually, with up to 8 guests, or rent the whole house for a flat rate. Even when the house is fully occupied, the host will also be living on site managing the mini-farm that is starting production in 2019. Seasonally available vegetables and fresh eggs will be offered to guests, whenever available. Along with small farm animals, two friendly dogs live here. If you have an aversion to dogs for religious or personal reasons, please let us know in advance so they can be kept in their own area.

  • This was an excellent place, to stay in the Valley, and be away from the city life! We wished we could have spent even more time, but we were off early the next morning to do some trekking nearby. Nicole is a fantastic host, helping us to find our place, arranging for some beautiful rooms, and even serving us breakfast in the morning. Due to our need to start early, we asked if we could have breakfast at 5 am, and Nicole happily obliged, so we were all definitely grateful! All in all, and amazing time :)

  • Nicole is a fantastic and thoughtful host. She made my stay in Baie Sainte-Marie so enjoyable, relaxing and real! If you enjoy human and animal interaction, you will love it there. Plus, who can complain about fresh eggs from the farm in the morning? I hope to be back sometime in the future!

  • Nicole is a super welcoming host. She’s super friendly and accommodating. She made us a delicious breakfast. I have bad allergies to animals and she went above and beyond to ensure my allergies didn’t attack me during our stay. The house is super clean :) I highly recommend Nicole’s place to stay!!

  • A fantastic stay. I felt very cared for and comfortable in Nicole’s Airbnb. Beautiful bedroom, comfortable cozy bed, lovely breakfast. Very interesting learning about the farm and the animals,Nicole is a wealth of knowledge and cares a great deal for her animals, plants and guests. The walk through the beach was stunning, and the beach quiet and peaceful. Nicole is between Yarmouth and Digby, and I easily visited both towns, also. Definitely recommend this Airbnb to others!
