  • If you are looking for a genuine experience of Scottish country life, Janet and Rob's place is a quaint, cozy, safe place to have it. The studio is tucked back on their farm - quiet, surrounded by animals, and a beautiful place to rest, walk and get to numerous surrounding destinations. The clever little kitchen is enough to cook simple meals, with a sitting room heated by a wood burning stove. The bedroom is lovely and very comfortable - and in the deep winter, the radiator heating in it is a big plus. Rob and Janet are very friendly and accommodating. Their Aussie dog is a love (particularly if you like throwing sticks infinitum) and their brood of chickens impressively plumed and also happy. In my book, it is always a good sign when the animals are happy. I highly recommend this place.

Hi, this is a super little self contained 2 bedroom cottage. it is within my private garden which is 6 Acres total, and includes a courtyard knot garden and a full-size maze. The Garden only opens once a year - (but not this year we are having a rest.) Please be aware to access the cottage you must use a 20m lose stone path therefore it is not suitable for disabled access and is a bit tricky if you have a heavy suitcase and rely on the wheels.
The cottage is set in a 6 acre acclaimed garden. it has 2 good sized bedrooms with standard double beds. A separate bathroom which has bath/shower. The living room is also a dining room and the cottage kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and has a small rayburn which is used for most cooking and for heating the hot water. There is also wi fi available at the cottage along with digital freeview wall mounted tv
There isn't a neighbourhood, the property is set in the countryside. Our nearest village is a 5 minute drive away from the property - Cullen - which has 2 wee shops for food, antique shops galore. 3 takeaways (Indian, Chinese and fish and chips) cafes and 2 wonderful beaches
  • Second stay here and great value

Sandend has one of the best surfing blue flag beaches in Scotland. The harbour offers fishing and "harbour jumping" as well as crabbing. Our cottage is one of the largest within the conservation village with 2 parking spaces outside. We have bright and large airy rooms with neutral décor but with all the home comforts you could wish for. We want you to enjoy your stay and will give you as much info as we can to make your holiday special. We have a guest info file with all the info you will need.
Sandend is a conservation village and one of the prettiest on this coast. Our house is a listed fisherman's cottage which has been lovingly restored to offer warm and cosy accommodation right next to the sea. the coast line is one of rocky bays and cliffs which can all be seen from our cottage. The village has a great atmosphere and all residents and other locals mix well along the harbour wall and open harbour green which has a variety of benches and picnic areas.
Sandend was established as a busy fishing port in 17th century. Over the last few hundred years not many changes have taken place in the village and now has listed and conservation status to ensure the beauty of the village is preserved for future generations. Many of the cottages have been in the same families for generations and the village has an amazing community feel. Everyone mixes for chats about the day, surfing exploits, what's been caught in the lobster pots and general drinks at the harbour to see the sun sets. The village has an excellent fish merchant who prepares fresh fish daily and smokes its own fish, we can highly recommend the smoked salmon. The village has a surf school- SUDS which has excellent equipment and a great success rate for all levels of surfer. We have our own malt whisky distillery on the beach - Glenglasshaugh which is an amazing tipple. Sandend also has football pitches and a local village hall which does host local events which are details area always posted around the village. The nearest shops at 3 miles away at Cullen and Portsoy both can be accessed via coastal paths as well as road and bus connections.
  • Spacious cottage in a great location to explore the surrounding area. Stunning scenery and lots of local walks. Lots of lovely homely touches made us feel right at home during our stay. Great communication from the hosts. Highly recommend!

    Tina2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Harbour View Cottage is a great place, spacious, warm with superb views and sounds of the sea. The proximity to the beach was ideal for us as we were surfing. This quiet seaside cottage had everything we needed. The decor is fresh & very nicely done & although two of us stayed, it is spacious for up to 6 people. The snug room was perfect after a day on the beach & we had no problem sleeping even hearing the sound of the waves from the bedroom. The view out onto the bay was ace, we could check out the waves from the upstairs window. A fantastic seaside spot! The hosts were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble if we asked for information. We will definitely be back again.

    Hazel2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in a lovely village . A couple of minutes from a long sandy beach . The cottage is spacious , spotlessly clean and welcoming .I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone.

    Joan2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect, don't hesitate, just book. I'm 100% serious. everything about the place is spot on and there's plenty to do nearby, can easy spend a week or more in the area. The village is beautiful too and the local beach is amazing. There's no point listing everything that was perfect about this place because it all was. Many thanks to the hosts who were brilliant, so helpful and have put a lot of effort into this place. We hope to return

This immaculate 1 bedroomed bungalow offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is situated in the small coastal town of Portknockie. A quiet friendly community where everyone is made to feel welcome. This bungalow is perfect for a cosy couples weekend away from the city life. If you enjoy golf, Moray has great courses to offer you, you could also dabble in some whisky tasting along the Speyside whisky trail, and if wildlife is more your style then the dolphin centre isn't far away.
Tea and coffee are provided, along with a fresh pint of milk for that all important cup of tea on arrival. We keep our own chickens so you will have a fresh egg for your breakfast! There are biscuits in the tin so please feel free to help yourself. There is a washing machine, microwave, gas hob and electric oven. There is also an iron and board, clothes airer, and hairdryer, and a travel cot and high chair can be provided on request (. Please let us know if soya or almond milk would be more preferable for you)
Portknockie is quiet but has 2 pubs, a small, well stocked shop, and a chemist, as well as a popular chip shop, all within walking distance. The wee town of Cullen is nearby, famous for its Viaduct and home of Cullen skink soup, a tasty blend of onions, milk, potatoes and smoked haddock. It also has some lovely cafes and antique shops.
  • Jackie’s place is a great little find. Located a few minutes from the sea in a quiet area, it had everything I needed. There was even milk and a few other treats waiting for me in the fridge. Thanks again Jackie.

  • We had a great stay in Portknockie thanks to Jaq. The property was absolutely spotless, cosy and modern with all of the amenities you could ask for (but you won't need to ask because Jaq is such a super host!). We had some lovely free range eggs from her own hens, soya milk in the fridge and Jaq popped in with some amazing homemade brownies as well! We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable our stay. 100% would recommend!

  • Jacqueline, who is a very available person, gave us the keys by hand, and gave us all the necessary information. The accommodation is perfectly equipped and very cozy. It is also perfectly located, within walking distance of the center of the town and Bow Fiddle Rock I recommend without hesitation

    Thierry2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, stylish accommodation, and many details. Of the best accommodations we have been to. Jacqueline is very attentive and close, with a sweet welcome surprise.

    Noé2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely, warm and cosy home. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by Jackie, such a lovely woman who baked us a batch of chocolate brownies and even made us homemade lemon curd! Both were absolutely amazing. Thanks so much Jackie. Portknockie is lovely too. So small and quiet and the surrounding coastline is incredible. Just five mins walk down to Bow Fiddle Rock.

    Samantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jaqueline is an absolutely amazing host! There is no one like her. She is extremely kind, helpful and considerate. I do not believe there is a better place to visit than her cottage in Portknockie. Don't even think about different offers because you're not going to find anything better :))) You are literally 3 minutes walk from the sea and you can even see it from the living room and the bedroom. The views and cliffs there are astonishing and this is an amazing place to visit, gain some peace and rest!

Driftwood Cottage is our latest venture and we welcomed our first guests at the end of March 2019. I am pleased to say that they liked it as much as we do – tho’ I was loath to move out at the end of our ‘test’ stay! Driftwood must be one of the prettiest cottages in Portsoy. It is often photographed, with it’s seaside theme and location all working in it’s favour! I will be uploading professional internal photos as soon as possible, but hope these work in progress ones will give you a feel of the place, and what we are trying to achieve! For me, apart from the location, the garden is one of the biggest attractions! There are not one, not two, but 3 terraces, as you climb the hill behind the cottage, with the view improving from each one! There is a barbeque area, plenty of seating, even a fish pond, and at the top, a ‘sitooterie’ (a summer house!), where you can sit out, enjoy your G&T (or cup of tea!) and look out over the higgledy piggledy roof tops of the historic conservation area and beyond that, out to sea. The cottage has a king size double bedroom, shower room, lounge and kitchen, all on the ground floor, with a twin room and children’s play area up some fairly narrow and steep stairs, so is suitable either for couples of those with young families. Of course, like all our cottages, we have good WiFi and your four legged friends are very welcome. We hope you will visit Driftwood, our latest cottage, and discover this often overlooked corner of the North East of Scotland for yourselves!
The cottage is cosy and comfortable, a real home from home. It is well equipped with everything we thought you might need - and we are open to suggestions if you think we've missed something!
Portsoy is a welcoming small town, with a lot going on for it’s size. It has a fantastic sense of community, with the caravan park, the 4 star Salmon Bothy museum, the Sail Loft Bunkhouse and the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival (celebrating it’s 21st anniversary this year!) all being run by the community for the community. It is centred around it’s 2 historic seventeenth century harbours, the area little changed in years, used as the film setting for the recent remake of Whisky Galore. The fishing industry has largely moved on, but you can often see the town’s two St Ayles skiffs rowing out from the harbour (and you will often find me out with them!) There are some fantastic walks round Portsoy, whether you walk westwards, past the old swimming pool carved out amongst the rocks, along the rugged coastline towards Sandend (pronounced ‘Sanine’) or further along to Findlater Castle, Sunnyside Beach and Cullen, or eastwards along the Coastguard’s path. There is the Shore Inn between the cottage and the harbours… and of course the award winning Portsoy Ice Cream shop. The Banffshire coast is one of the world’s outstanding coastlines, says the National Geographic. Natural beauty combines with plentiful wildlife – there are dolphins, seals, puffins and other seabirds in abundance, if you are lucky enough to see them. Fishing villages all along the coast perch on clifftops, or crouch precariously at the water’s edge, with the oldest houses built gable-end on to the weather and the waves. In the summer, the light up here is special, days are near endless. Winter skies are dark and starry and – with a bit of luck – you might even see the Northern Lights!
  • Very comfortable, spotlessly clean cottage in perfect location quietly positioned in Portsoy.

    Daniel2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house with everything you need to make it a home from home, beach only minutes away, definitely another visit required in the summer months.

    Denise2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, sparkling clean and quality touches throughout. We’ve stayed in a fair few Airbnb’s and this is by far the best, a lot of thought has gone into making this a very comfortable home from home. Attention to detail is excellent throughout, from good quality furnishings, towels, bed linen to crockery & cutlery and the cosy but very modern feel. My Daughters (aged 12 & 10) appreciated the smart TV in their bedroom, along with the trunk filled with games! Yvonne was an excellent host from the first request to book and always replied to any messages promptly. We met a couple of times whilst in Cullen and she’s very welcoming & friendly. It’s a short walk to the stunning beach and many walking paths around the area, The Royal Oak just at the end of the street is worth a visit for a warm welcome and a hearty meal. Thank you Yvonne, we had a wonderful stay over New Years and will be back for sure!

    Nicola2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne’s house is as beautiful and stylish as it shows in the pictures. I rented her accommodation for my family visiting from Norway and it was absolutely perfect for their stay. The house is really tastefully decorated, sparkling clean and was really well equipped, little things like the coffee machine and docking station were appreciated. Yvonne was a great host and I am very sure that we will book this accommodation again in beautiful Cullen for future visitors.

  • No 12 is a great place to see and enjoy everything the area has to offer. I would highly recommend it. The house is spotlessly clean and beautifully finished. Yvonne is a great host.

Close to a long sandy beach and spectacular coastal walks, our family cottage has a wood burning stove, lots of books, board games, wifi internet and a well equipped kitchen. It's a place to relax and recharge your batteries. Bundle up and go for a walk along the beach, then have a delicious coffee at Coffee at the Kings. Light the fire and put your feet up with a good book or a game of Rummikub. If you feel adventurous try the local sea school for surfing and kayaking,
In this Seatown cottage, there are two bedrooms (one twin, one double), perfect for a family of four or a group of friends. We've set up a reading room with an easel which has beautiful light for those who like to paint and draw or for you to simply relax with a book or magazine. Along the hall, the bathroom is simple with an electric shower. The living room downstairs has a wood and coal burning stove for warming up in the evening after a day of wildlife watching on the Moray coast. Next door, the bright kitchen has been fitted with traditional wooden cupboards and has an electric cooker and washing machine.
Cullen is a beautiful, coastal town, with walks along the Moray county trail and provides opportunities for bird watching. The Moray Firth dolphins can often be seen. Cullen beach is regularly visited by surfers and kayaking clubs and the bustling, 18 hole Cullen golf course sits alongside the beach. Cullen Golf Club regularly hosts local opens and competitions and is equally good for a quick round on a sunny afternoon. The Rockpool bistro in the town centre is our favourite place to eat, using fresh, local produce. The food is contemporary and more importantly, tasty! It is open for breakfast and lunch, we would recommend booking ahead as it's always full.
  • A stay here is a treat! The location is perfect and the cottage exactly what you want on a seaside holiday.

    Linda2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is located in the 'Seatown' area of Cullen within yards of the promenade between Cullen harbour to the east and Cullen beach to the west. There are long coastal pathways leading to the neighbouring villages of Portsoy and Portknockie. After a long walk on these paths I recommend a bowl of "Cullen Skink" soup at the Seafield Arms hotel in Cullen town. The cottage is well appointed and has two bedrooms - fitted with a double bed in the ground floor bedroom and twin single beds in the first floor bedroom.

  • Pru was very responsive and helpful during our stay. The home was lovely and large enough for our family of 3 that we each had our own space. The kitchen is bright and has everything you will need to do some light meal preparation. The house-numbering scheme isn't straightfoward so you may need to look around a bit to find the house and where to park, which will be much easier in a smaller car that can squeeze between the close-positioned cottages. Park around the back of the house at the white fence, beside the church. All-around, the house was a great choice for exploring the Moray firth and Speyside region. We were able visit many castles, gardens and distilleries in the area during day trips: enough time to eat a quick breakast at the house, pack a lunch to go and then be back in time to cook supper. This was a big budget saver, although we highly recommend visiting the small, intimate restaurants in the area, especially Lily's Kitchen and the Rockpool (reservations needed). And Cullen is the home of Cullen Skink, a local variety of fish chowder. I have made this recipe in the past, never realizing where it came from! If you are visiting in the off-season (after Sept 30), be aware that many of the historic sites in Scotland have limited visiting hours, or are closed entirely. Admission for 2 adult and a child can easily cost 40+ pounds, so if you plan on visiting more than a few of these sites, look into getting a family Explorer pass: https://www.visitbritainshop.com/canada/historic-scotland-explorer-pass/.

  • Perfect! As it says on the tin. Perfect location- just few steps from promenade and beach. Very peaceful - everything you need. The Royal Oak is a great place to eat and some wonderful walks. The Pet Cemetery along past the harbour is a must to see if an animal lover. A must to stay at and we will be back.

    Amanda2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage in a lovely friendly town

  • Definitely recommended. Everything you need is provided, and love the personal touches to the house.

    Cathy2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place for a relaxing few days. No problems what so ever. Will happily stay again in the future. Thank you again Pru.

    Stephen2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • As Pru says in her description, this is her home from home. Do not expect designer furnishings, do expect cosy homeliness. We loved it. As for location, if you don’t know Cullen and its environs it really is beautiful, quiet and pastoral rather than dramatic. Excellent for birds and other wildlife. Interesting geology and rock pools at the Portknockie end of the bay.

Portknockie also has an open air paddling pool at the harbour, outdoor bowling green, a play park and tennis courts. Within the village we have an award winning Fish and Chip shop, Hotel, Pub, Post Office/grocery shop, Cafe, Chemist, Hairdressers and a Garage. Portknockie also has a small outdoor children's paddling pool in the harbour, children's playground, tennis courts and outdoor bowling.
  • Outstanding property with everything you need for a relaxing and very comfortable break. It’s such a beautiful cottage. L It’s immaculate, artistic and so well laid out. All the furniture, crockery, bedding and towels etc have been specifically bought and supplied with guests satisfaction in mind - all very plush, spotlessly clean and in tune with the decor throughout. We love eating good family meals at home - the kitchen cupboards are well stocked with herbs, olive oil, condiments, sugar, tea, coffee, rice, soup etc. Great appliances and cooking facilities and family space. Lovely cleaning products and hand washes too. Gull Cottage is in a super location for exploring the coastline. The walks and beaches along this coast are breathtaking - lots to see and do. We enjoyed long walks every day. We’ve booked again for August. Thanks Anne for all the lovely extras on arrival. All the little details and treats went down very well. Xx

    Laura2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful cottage. Comfy and immaculate with lots of wee extras. Very thoughtful owner. Would highly recommend. Great location for exploring the Moray coast.

    Elaine2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Many thanks, Anne, for making such a welcoming place for travellers! We so enjoyed the cottage and village and couldn't have asked for more... Best fish and chips in ages a few metres away, super comfortable cottage with everything thought of and many extra touches that I haven't seen in any other Airbnbs... Can't recommend Gull Cottage enough!

    Scott & Julia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fisher-folk Cottage was by far the best rental we have ever had. Anne’s artistic touches really added to our enjoyment. On each of the six days we stayed, we found another little personal touch or whimsy. The area around Portknockie is very interesting to explore from the famous “Cullen Skink Soup” in nearby Cullen to Bow Fiddle Rock in Portknockie, there was always lots to do. There is a large supermarket just a few miles away in Buckie, “dairy-free” ice cream in Portsoy and antique shops to peruse in the region. The scenery is breathtaking and the cottage could not have been more comfortable. Anne leaves a few groceries to kickstart your holiday as well as some treats. Simply fabulous! We would go again in a heartbeat!

    Carie2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a most charming cottage in the old fishing village of Portknockie, a most lovely part of the Moray Firth. It is very clean and comfortable and a delight to spend time in. Anne has catered for the needs of everyone and provided little extras that will surprise you. I would jump at the chance to return there some day. It is indeed a special place.

    Elisabeth2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend Gull Cottage more highly! Anne has created just a super bolt hole - immaculately clean, incredibly well kitted out with a myriad of thoughtful touches, we really didn’t want to leave. From provisions in both fridge & cupboards, to Netflix, to Alexa and amazon music, to washing and drying provisions, the list goes on. It really is a step above!Portknockie is also the perfect base for exploring the Moray coastline and really does have the best fish and chips two yards from home. A total tick and anyone would be lucky to holiday here!

    Liz2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is the fourth time we've stayed in Gull Cottage, and it keeps getting better every time. I'm almost reluctant to write a review because I want to keep this place for myself. It's absolutely fantastic. Anne is a great host and the facilities are excellent (and spotless).

    Sean2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gull cottage was perfect in every way. It was beautifully decorated in a nautical theme and everything was spotlessly clean. It was cosy and warm with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. The kitchen was fully equipped with quality utensils and everything you could possibly need. Anne was the perfect hostess and responded very promptly. If we are back in the area we will definitely be back.

No. 56 is a Fisherman's cottage nestled in the heart of Portsoy. just 2 mins walk to the 17th Century Harbour. Portsoy is a friendly town which boasts Portsoy icecream shop, cafes, beach, cycling routes and coastal walks.

The Portsoy Icecream shop is a favourite of guests and they apparently make good coffee. very good Fish and Chip shop. you can walk to the 17th Century Harbour, where there is a pub and cafe. Shops and children's park are a 5 minute walk away. it is a good base if you want to explore the Moray Coast where Dolphins, Seals and other Marine life live. • A lovely cottage in heart of Portsoy, only 15 mins from Cullen. Large eat in kitchen with everything you'd need for a comfortable stay including dishwasher, washing machine, central heating and all kitchen appliances and crockery, pots and pans, etc. Beds comfortable prompt replies from host. Does have some internal stairs which may challenge people with mobility issues but not particularly steep.

Our family cottage is snuggled and protected in the centre of Seatown. This historic cottage in Cullen offers a unique opportunity to experience a Fisherman's cottage that dates back 200 years. It is small but modern and equipped to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. Close proximity to the beach ensures your visit will be full of adventure. A short walk under the famous railway viaduct rewards you with outstanding views and the local services of a small town.
105 Seatown is a one bedroom cottage offering comfortable accommodation, ideally for one or two people. It includes a sofa bed in the sitting room and we have always found it ideal for a small family. The accommodation is over one floor with a sitting room with adjoining kitchen, a compact shower room and a comfortable kingsize bedroom. Our cottage is bijou but snug and the perfect bolt-hole to escape to.
Cullen is full of surprises. Coastal walks, beautiful sandy beaches, a golf course and it is surrounded by a multitude of attractions to discover. Seatown is full of character and eager to be explored. The main town is small and quiet but suitably catered for by shops, cafes, curios and antique places, a small supermarket and some good restaurants and bars. Wider-afield, the Moray Coast is famous for its dolphins and other sea life and enjoys a pleasant microclimate, so don’t forget your swimming gear!
  • A gorgeous wee cottage tucked inside one of the loveliest ‘seatowns’ on the Moray and Aberdeenshire coast. It has everything in its three rooms, including a comfy bed and a wood burning stove. Amazing seafood is in walking distance, whether it is Linda’s Fish and Chips or hotels, and the beach and coast walks are perfect even in a gale. Our wee dog was in heaven. Total chill out few days.

  • Booked cottage for my parents. They were extremely complimentary about it. Well equipped, everything good quality, looked good and comfortable. Lovely location by the harbour. Helpful communication from Duncan when booking! Excellent!

    Steve2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at the cottage! It was absolutely beautiful inside and out and was warm and cozy, even through some of the crazy, winter weather! Everything was spotlessly clean. Genuinely couldn’t fault anything about it! Thank you!

    Zara2018-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was the cutest little cottage and the cleanest place I have EVER stayed (no seriously I even checked the top of door frames for dust as I just couldn’t believe how spotless it was, and found not a sprinkling). The cottage is very small, but its a traditional cottage so I didn’t expect anything else, and it is truly really lovely. The cottage is very well equipped except an ironing board and iron (which probably doesn’t matter to most people up there for the beach or walking). The beach and walks nearby are delightful. And I even saw dolphins on my first day from the lounge window (though I believe I was very lucky). The host was really accommodating and had the sofa bed set up ready for us as we were arriving late with our daughter. Communication great. Cosy and warm (when the weather got cooler) and a lovely log burner set and ready to go. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

    Amanda2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dram Cottage is a dream cottage! Great location within the harbour village, brilliantly well-equipped and furnished and so comfortable! Thank you for making it such a lovely stay. It's a beautiful place and - in terms of our experience of airBNB - really sets a high bar in terms of the quality of accommodation and the standard of service provided. Great stuff!

    David2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. Never missed anything in 2 months we stayed here. Though the first impression was that the cottage is smaller than the impression we got from the photos but we never needed more space. Everything was just perfect.

    Rene2018-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best homes we have stayed in using this medium. It was so well equipped that it was more like living in a resort. The home was immaculate and located right on the harbour front. Very scenic and serene. A very cosy place for a romantic getaway or even a family adventure as we had. THis has to be one of the best houses in this village.

    David2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Dram Cottage was our first Airbnb adventure and we had a fantastic time. The cottage itself is absolutely superb. It is one of the traditional fishermen's cottages situated right by the harbour and has been refurbished to a very high standard. The fitted kitchen has everything you could need for a self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher, a washer/dryer and plenty of cooking equipment, storage space and utensils. The bathroom has a huge shower cubicle and modern sanitaryware/fittings. The sitting room has a wood burning stove, a sofa bed and plenty of entertainment (TV, DVD, Hifi equipment, radio, books, CDs, DVDs,jigsaw etc.) The bedroom has a range of fitted cupboards, two small wardrobe spaces and a very comfortable bed. The whole place was immaculate when we arrived and we really felt like we had found a little gem. Sandend beach is glorious and there are plenty of places to walk, including the coastal path to Portsoy and to the small, secluded Sunnyside beach. There is no shop in Sandend but there are plenty of small shops in the neighbouring villages of Cullen and Portsoy (both no more than approx 5 minutes drive.) We will definitely go back. Moray is a beautiful part of Scotland full of long, sandy beaches, castles, farmland, nature reserves, picturesque fishing villages, rolling farmland and distilleries. Sandend is a great base for a holiday on the Moray Firth and Dram Cottage offers an excellent place to stay (at a very reasonable cost) for any holidaymaker.

No 10 is a super comfortable cozy little house for you to relax in! Right in the heart of Portsoy it is close to all the attractions but on a quiet street with a lovely south facing garden for sitting out. This is our family holiday house so a true home from home we'd love to share with you.
The house has one comfortable bedroom with a king-sized bed and lots of storage. The sitting room has a sofa bed for any additional guests. The bathroom enjoys a large separate shower.
Portsoy is a vibrant, friendly village. There is lots to occupy you with stunning coastal walks on the braes and beaches, a local distillery, lovely cafes and shops in the village and nearby, excellent fish and chips, a local baker, not to mention the world famous Portsoy ice-cream! The village is ideally placed for exploring the Aberdeenshire and Moray coast and inland with all it's attractions.
  • A very comfortable and warm cottage, perfectly located for all the amenities of Portsoy, yet on a very quiet side street. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need for easy self catering, all in great condition. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and had lots of extra linen and towels etc, some well stocked bookshelves and some puzzles and DVDs. Lesley and Margaret were very welcoming, giving tailored tips for the amazing local area, explaining how to work the appliances etc. I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay, the location, hosts and comfort of the cottage are all 5*.

  • This holiday home truly feels like a home; a lovely location in a very friendly village and a warm welcome. There are so many places to visit close by and it's a pleasure to return to such a well appointed home. The absence of Wifi is a blessing but there is a good mobile signal for those who really don't want to be out of contact. Looking forward to a return visit.

    Helen2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely spotless and had everything we could have needed. Lovely bathroom and well equipped kitchen! There were so many thoughtful touches that we soon felt at home and relaxed straight away. It is perfectly located for the high street amenities and just a very short walk to the beautiful Portsoy harbour. It doesn't have wi-fi, but we had no problem accessing the internet via our mobile phones (Vodafone), so it couldn't have been better. We will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

78 Seatown is a traditional fisherman's cottage in the picturesque seatown of Cullen on the Moray Firth coast, N.E Scotland. The cottage is fully equipped and spacious. Cullen is a beautiful place for a quiet relaxing break and an ideal location for exploring all the the local area has to offer. The more active guests can enjoy the excellent golf courses, beaches, walking and cycle routes in the area.

  • It was a pleasure to stay in this Cottage. it has everything we needed. The Cottage is so spacious that we didn't used all of it. This makes the Cottage a perfect stay for a Family with Kids. Even toys for small children are available. The Price for the Cottage is really fair and though we used a lot of gas (for heating and cooking) and electricity I think that the solution "Low Price for the accommodation, pay extra for what you use" is the fairest solution for everyone.

Childhood home of the owner. Cullen is one of the most beautiful villages on the Moray coast. Lovely beach, breathtaking views, old harbour, golf, spectacular cliffside walks, pubs, antique dealers, fully equipped, walled garden. 3 double beds, 3 single. One bathroom (shower over large bath), plus two separate toilets (upstairs and downstairs) and a washbasin in one bedroom. Separate laundry room with washer, dryer and sink.
Visitors say the house has the feeling of a ''real home''. Built in 1939 for Sandy Duffus, a retired ship's engineer with the British India company and his wife Ealasaid McKenzie - aunt of the present owner - ''Claigmar'' has a roomy feel with high ceilings and good soundproofing. Plenty of breathing space. Enjoy a late night around the fire while others sleep in peace.
The owner left Cullen in his youth and has been coming back ever since. The beach, the sea, the cliffs, the elegant old stone viaduct, but also the wooded walks in the nearby Crannoch, the links golf course, the tennis courts and bowling greens, the charm of its 13th. century church, the eerie ruins of Findlater Castle along the coast; the smoky flavour of its Cullen Skink fish soup: everything combines to exercise a special pull on even the most jaded traveller. He remembers an old teacher telling him "People always come back to Cullen". True.
  • The house is a genuine early 20th Century house. Many original features. As Robert said do not expect stylish modern finishes. But it us a great house, comfortable and in a great location in a beautiful Scottish fishing village.

    Eleanor2020-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, and it is a lot bigger than you’d think. Very warm and welcoming. 5 minute walk to the beach or a 1 minute drive. All in all you will not find a better house anywhere. Simple amazing

    Gerald2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, comfortable home in a great location and is a great value. It is within easy walking distance of everything in Cullen. Robert is a gracious host & responded promptly to my inquiries. The home is exactly as he describes it in his listing — it doesn’t have an upgraded, new home interior; its vibe is rather more like a visit to your grandmother’s home, in the best way. After a couple of weeks on the road, I greatly appreciated the nice washer & dryer, the comfortable bed, and spacious rooms. I would gladly choose this home again. Thanks, Robert!

    Sandra2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house not far to travel places nice walk down to the beach.

    Jason2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Roberts house and it felt exactly the same, it has a homely feeling about it. The area is outstanding and we love visiting this area and this provides the perfect base.

    Brian2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic vacation in the beautiful house of Robert. We loved that the house is old but very comfortable. Also very clean. Cullen is a very charming village with friendly people. Communication with Robert was good. We would defenitely come back to Roberts house!

    Marita2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A nice and clean house with comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities for a good stay. The owner responds quickly to the questions put to him. The entrance to the house and the exit are very simple. Beautiful walks can be done around. A beautiful region. If I come back to Scotland, I will resume this rental with pleasure.

    Celine2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Arriving at the property in Cullen we were given direct access to the property by means of a key coded box on the wall. This meant that we didn't have to arrive at a prearranged time and were free to stop off freely on our journey. Once inside the house we were pleasantly surprised at the size and grander of this old house. It was a wonderful place to stay and our kids absolutely loved it. If we visit the area again, we will definitely be staying here!

Wood lined interior with exposed rafters. Sea views. A few metres from the shore The room comes with access to our hostel, which is next door, as the double room does not have an en suite toilet/shower, you will need to go to the hostel for this. Guests can use the self catering Kitchen/ dining area, bathrooms and laundry. Placed right at the harbour in Cullen village, this is the perfect spot to enjoy the area. We are a convenient stopping place on a trip to or from the highlands.
Cullen is a small village on the Moray coast an area loved for its rugged coastline and small fishing towns; a less busy area of scotland ideal for a relaxing holiday or outdoor pursuits like walking, cycling, golf, or just curling up with a book. There are plenty of food outlets in Cullen 5 minutes walk away, and a co-op for groceries, Chemist, post office, GP clinic. Further Shopping and main supermarkets are available from Buckie a 10 minute drive away. Duff House at McDuff-half a half hours drive away is a National Gallery and has lovely grounds and woodland walks. The Cullen Bay Hotel and restaurant on the outskirts of Cullen has excellent views over the bay while you dine. Everywhere serves Cullen Skink.

  • I spent a very happy night at Howard’s place, and was very glad of a warm bed and hot shower after a few and of very wet camping along the Moray Coast. A great spot to finish my walk and as a base camp for short excursions to explore the local area!

  • Very nice room, clean and comfortable. host always reachable

    Francesco2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cosy, and well-desined hostel that Howard clearly pays great attention to. A local place with the opportunity to meet other travellers. My boyfriend and I stayed for a night and wished we could have stayed longer! Has everything you need, as well as a seaside view, where if you're lucky you can spot the seals bobbing about.

    Catriona2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • An insider tip in a small harbor town. The accommodation is beautifully situated, directly on the sea. Everything is well equipped and stylish as artistically furnished. Recommended for families as well as for single travelers. Especially the double bedroom in the attic is large and wonderful. Howard is a friendly host

    Michaela2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Howard's place. When we arrived, Howard and his dog Lilly gave us a very warm welcome. The host showed us around this fantastic hostel, which he had built himself. The building was very clean and well equipped. Our room for two was very spacious and cosy. We loved the kitchen, where we spent our evening cooking, listening to one of the non commercial radio stations, chatting with Howard and enjoying the warmth of the stove. The owner gave us fantastic tips on what we could visit nearby and where is the best place to taste the regional Cullen Skink! The hostel is well signed posted (look for the brown tourist sign) and it located in beautiful surroundings only a few meters away from the sea. Perfect spot for artists looking for creative inspiration! We will definitively come back here.

Fernyhaugh is a 4 bedroomed house with the best views in portsoy. The home overlooks the new harbour and the moray firth. Inside there is 3 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom so it's perfect for families. There is a main bathroom upstairs and a shower room/ensuite downstairs. The downstairs has an open plan feel, the cosy sitting room has a wood burner and the adjoining sun room is great for relaxing and watching the world go by. The kitchen and dining room are fully equipped for a large family.
Fernyhaugh is a family home, it has 4 bedrooms (3 with king size beds and one with twin beds). The downstairs bedroom is a king and has an adjoining shower room. The kitchen has everything you need for a short stay (no dishwasher though), please let us know if you think of anything that we have missed. The open plan kitchen and dining room flow through to the sunroom which has the best views in portsoy (I might be biased). The sitting room has a wood burning stove and TV and is very cosy in an evening (be aware that the TV only has basic channels so if you plan to use it a lot it might be an idea to bring a streaming device with you). Upstairs has 2 king bedrooms and a twin room. There is also a family bathroom. (Please be aware the upstairs bathroom only has a bath, so large groups will be sharing one shower if this is your preference). We find our home is best suited to families. We are happy to accept dogs but ask that you keep them downstairs. We have listed that we are not suitable for infants, this is simply because we don't have a cot or highchair. So if you are coming with a baby you will have to bring all your own gear! If you are happy to do that then we are happy to have you. Let us know if you have a particularly grabby toddler and we can move all the knickknacks in the living areas out of reach before you arrive! If you are arriving late at night we have a key safe so you can let yourselves in. Let us know if this is the case so we can leave you something for breakfast in the morning! Please don't be shy with your feedback, this is our first year of holiday letting and we want to improve. Also, let us know if we can help you with anything at all. We are nearby and happy help.
  • Brilliant house in a perfect location, third visit for us and we will be back for a fourth!

    Andy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Fiona’s house is simply amazing. There is everything you need there and the location is great, just next to the see. You can see the see and sunrise from the bedrooms upstairs. The house is brand new, the beds are really comfortable and everything is there for you to have a great stay. The welcome back is also much appreciated. There are a lot of tips for things to visit in the region and Tim and Fiona are really helpful. Will go back and recommend it to everyone.

  • The Beach House in Findochty is in a great location close to the Moray Coastal Trail. The house itself is very clean and has been beautifully refurbished throughout to a high standard. Tim and Fiona are brilliant hosts who communicate well. We can thoroughly recommend The Beach House.

    Grace2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Findochty is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Tim and Fiona's place has the advantage of being very close to a serene sandy beach. We could have easily just sat there for the duration of our stay. Additionally, it is a fantastic base to explore the northern parts of Scotland. The house is immaculately clean and very well equipped; you can tell immediately that a lot of thought has gone into making your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Tim and Fiona have thought of everything! From the initial booking to check-out, communication was excellent. During our stay, we didn't need to contact them, a testament to their skills as hosts. We would not hesitate in returning or recommending. Thank you so much.

    Joanne2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spacious and very well equipped (board games, Netflix, ...) close to the sea and beautiful walks. we recommend this rental

    Pascale2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location was even better than we had hoped - a lovely beach at either end of the street! The house is beautifully updated with excellent fittings and fixtures and the bath is delightfully deep :) The beds are really comfy and Fiona and Tim have added thoughtful touches throughout - including the loan of two body boards and a selection of info on local areas of interest. They even told us about a pop up cafe at the town hall where we got to meet more of the locals who were really kind and friendly. It's an absolutely idyllic place for a family holiday or couple's getaway. We would definitely hope to stay there again if we are ever back in the area!

    Rhona2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is superbly kitted out with everything you can think of. If you get weather like us you won’t be in much (although the kids were even in the sea when it was raining) but there is a great selection of books and lots of games to play with.

  • Comfortable and clean cottage with great views and parking right outside the door. You can walk along the coastal path to a lovely beach at Cullen. Portknockie has a very good chip shop and a nice cafe. We were lucky to see dolphins twice. No EE mobile signal so make sure you have a note of check-in instructions before you arrive.

  • Jills place was lovely to stay at. The room was large and comfy and warm. Breakfast was included so that was a bonus. There are two fish and chips shops close by. A bar/restaurant, in the next street. Another Restaurant 5 minutes walk away if that. Plus a local shop that sells everything. Jill is a very nice person, easy to talk to and will give you lots of information. I really enjoyed my time at Jills and highly recommend it. I would stay there again if I visited that part of Scotland again.

Traditionally built holiday cottage on the shores of the Moray firth. Sea views from the cottage windows; very comfortable for a couple and 2 children. There is a 3/4 sized bath with thermo/spray filler tap. No overhead shower. I'm mentioning this so there will be no surprises. :) shower next door can sometimes be made available The cottage provides a perfect base for exploring the area with good bus links to Aberdeen/Inverness. Coastal walks and the harbour beach right at the cottage door.
Underfloor heating of Caithness flagstone floor make our cottage comfortable at any time of year. There is a small sandy beach next to the cottage, and two more a short walk along the seafront from the harbour. Families with children can entertain them without driving anywhere. Teenagers have a small safe village environment to easily explore; there are Cafes, Chip shop, Chinese takeaway, Curry house, Delicatessen, Co-op supermarket all in the village. Our house is nearby if assistance is needed.
Cullen is a popular Moray coastal village with more then it's fair share of facilities. The main village sits uphill from the Harbour and fisher cottages at sea level. The old railway viaduct running all the way to neighbouring Portknockie village is now a walk or cycle route. Cullen is on SUSTRANS route one cycle path. There are Forest walks at the Cranach woods just outside Cullen village and nearby 'Winding Walks' at Fochabers, a 20 minute car trip. Tesco. Lidle and many other shops at Buckie, 10 mins by car. Elgin a 30 minute car ride, has most high street shops and is a nice town centre, with cinema, museums etc. Aberdeen and Inverness are easily accessible by regular busses from Cullen.
  • Great place, great Guy

  • The place is a real beauty. A perfect place to hide away and relax. Howard is very hospitable. I would recommend to stay here!

    Dmitry2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the cottage, right next to the sea, and close to the local pubs and shops. We were well looked after by Howard and felt totally welcome, relaxed and at home. The hostel and cottage are incredible buildings with loads of history and quirky touches. Cant wait to come back, maybe with a big crew so we can rent the whole place together! Thanks Howard, we had a ball.

  • A lovely traditional cottage right by the sea with everything you need for a stay in Cullen. Stayed for a few days with my wife and daughter, whilst visiting friends and had a great time. Great coastal walks right from the door and views across Cullen bay. Howard even went the extra mile by getting us a high chair for the wee one.

    Kenny2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We can not recommend Howard’s accommodations enough! If you’re looking to experience a real bit of Scotland, or just a leisurely vacay at the shore with stunning views, welcoming locals, and nice chats where front doors are always open, this is the place. The cottage we stayed in is well hand-crafted. It would be comfortable for up to 4 adults (a big bed in the upstairs bedroom, a single bed in the downstairs bedroom and another single bed upstair in a room adjacent to the master bedroom). Windows in the upstairs rooms and kitchen look directly on the sea. The large entrance room is the living/kitchen. Located between a small harbor with good swimming and a sea school, we were very close to the sea, and can hear the surf while sleeping with open windows. Just past the sea school, begins gravel paved walks that wind for miles along the beach or cut back up the hills to Cullen and neighboring towns. There is another lovely walk along a converted rail path above Seatown, which can also be followed for miles through neighboring towns to the west. Easy parking behind the house. Howard lives just across the stone plaza, always ready to help, or chat. He made this one of the most enjoyable stays, by far, that we’ve had through airbnb. A great Airbnb !

  • Lovely place by the sea. Nice home built cottage with a beautiful vue on the sunset. Howard is a very gentle host full of attentions. I highly recommend and for sure will come back!! Thank you loads!

Once a significant herring–fishing centre it still retains the charm of its heritage clustered around its fine harbour. The remains of a Pictish castle found on the rooftops witness early settlement at this location. Although a town of 1,290 residents, Portknockie is essentially a residential community with few business premises. The old seatown around the harbour features traditional, turn of the century housing in north–south rows, which is designated an Outstanding Conservation Area. Council built houses were established post Wwii to the east while the growth of private bungalows has spread along the southern periphery of the town. Portknockie has ideal and attractive views over the Moray Firth and its signature feature, Bow Fiddle Rock, pleasant cliff top walks to the adjoining towns of Cullen and Findochty and its heritage experience of the harbour and the old town. The main commercial life is around the Square and Church Street, the main thoroughfare. Here can be found the Victoria Hotel, the Seafield Inn, the chemist’s, the butcher’s and the Portknockie Chippie. In Church Street there is a local food store with a post office and a general store selling newspapers and magazines. There is also a wee tea shoppie in the village. The Square has recently been landscaped and contains a signpost to local features. Church Street is the location of the newly developed Millennium Garden with seating and picnic facilities. There are also three hairdressers in the town and a taxi booking point. The harbour has moorings for yachts, which can enter and leave, at any state of the tides. These mooring pontoons were partly funded by Moray Badenoch and, Strathspey Enterprise. There is also a garage at the end of the harbour road. Just east of the harbour is a small development of business premises for the local builders and a Mot testing centre. View of the coast from PortknockieThe town is well served by the route 305 Elgin to Aberdeen Bluebird bus service, which provides access to Buckie, the nearest large town. Portknockie also has a large park with children’s swings on its eastern edge, tennis courts and a bowling green, a caravan park and a number of meeting halls. There is also a paddling pool for summer use in the harbour. Local groups meet regularly in these halls and they frequently feature fund raising events, such as coffee mornings, for local charities. In the planning stage is a centre which it is hoped will become and information point for visitors to Portknockie. Portknockie has a primary school and a busy playgroup run by a local committee. The town has a Church of Scotland Kirk and a number of meeting halls for the Church of Christ and The Brethren. There is a cemetery, shared with Findochty, to the west of the town. Portknockie, along with Cullen and Deskford is a part of a Heritage Group which documents the traditions and practices of this area lest they be forgotten. It holds a very popular annual exhibition of its researches every year in neighbouring Cullen. Portknockie has an elected Community Council, which meets monthly in the Primary School to manage local affairs. It also organises the annual Best Kept Garden competition for residents and hopes one day to encourage an “adopt a street” scheme in the town to ensure Portknockie will have a strong floral character. There is an active Amenities Group to run the annual Gala and other fund–raising events that benefit Portknockie. For the past year there has been a special Millennium sub–group to arrange special, one off events for the year 2000.

  • Cosy, comfy little cottage in a great seaside location. Bring a torch if you plan to arrive in the dark & look for the pebble with No.28 painted on it. That's the passageway to use. Enjoy watching the sea from the dining table or sofa and exploring along the coast in both directions.

  • Colin's place in white bay was the perfect Scottish retreat. The main room and kitchen is perfectly cozy and plentiful in size filled with all the amenities you need for a longer or shorter stay. The place was very clean when we got there and there was plenty of suggestions and tips left by Colin. Colin himself was extremely communicative during the trip and helped us at all times with our last-minute request which were no problem for him even though they were out of his way. I would say to anyone looking to stay in white bay that this is the perfect accommodation especially considering the fantastic price!
