Places to stay in Riverstown
Our cabin is warm and cosy. Enjoy the space, help yourself to veg from the garden, feed the farm animals, collect the eggs and explore all our area has to offer
We are in the heart of the countryside but within walking distance of the town. The cabin is accessed via a raised walkway over the vegetable garden and nestled neatly under mature beech trees. The cabin is on our small farm which you are free to explore, experience and enjoy. The area is a slightly off the beaten track hidden gem. You could use your time here to explore Lough Key Forest Park, the town of Boyle, Boyle Abbey, King House and Drummanone Dolmen. You could visit the majestic Carrowkeel passage tombs and delve into the caves of Keash. Try walking around some of the lesser known lakes and woodlands e.g. Clontykilla woods and cycling a myriad of country lanes. See if you can catch some fish on the nearby Boyle river or Lough Gara. Spend your evenings snuggled in the cabin with some local literature or head to Boyle for something to eat and a few pints. For those wanting very lively nightlife Carrick on Shannon is 12 km away
This is an area with hidden gems waiting to be discovered. We love our interactions with the animals, the peaceful lakes, rivers and hills and our friends and neighbours. A quiet pint in town with a good meal and chat is a simple pleasure. A rich historical tapestry from passage tombs to hidden abbeys to grand mansions continues to stimulate.
  • This was my second time at the Hideaway - the welcome was even warmer this time and I had a great stay. John's recommendations for the area (including the Caves at Keash and the Carrowkeel passage tombs) were spot on. Highly recommended!

  • Right on the farm, also very private! Everything lovely and clean and only a few minutes away from the town, would recommend!

  • John and his family made us feel very welcome in their beautiful pod. He took time to explain all of the local points of interest and made sure we were comfortable. The pod is cosy, well furnished and in a lovely location. Definitely recommend!

  • Don’t let the size fool you, you’ll have EVERYTHING you need at the hideaway! This was the first Airbnb that I personally felt as comfortable as I do at home. Boyle had the best food in Ireland and it was the most affordable as well. If you want a host that has a well planned out selection of things to do, this is where your heart will be!

    Claire2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a nice Valentine's weekeend in this cozy cabin during storm Dennis. Great place, great host, and completely warm! Also, since we didn't have a car the hosts came to pick up and drop us at the train station. Thanks John!

  • Really enjoyed the location, the reception and the cabin. I'll recommend the experience to anyone and everyone..

  • John's accommodation loved it. The indications to the place were very precise. The cabin is very cozy and John and his family are very hospitable. Everything was spotless and they even left us some homemade snacks. 100% recommendable.

This lovely new holiday home is in Ballintogher village about 250 yards from the local shop, 2 pubs, church and childrens playground. Ballintogher is an excellent base for cyclists, walkers, surfers & SUP to explore nearby lakes or Strandhill. We are only 5 minutes drive away from Castle Dargan hotel and therefore a popular base for people attending weddings, playing golf or enjoying the spa facilities there. We are also 5 minutes drive from the lake “lough Gill “ and the beautiful Slishwood.
The new, comfortable house contains one large upstairs bedroom with a double bed and two single beds, cozy upstairs sitting room with TV and Apple TV with Netflix and dozens of recent movies, fully equipped kitchen/dining area (with hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc), and bathroom with shower. There's a Nespresso machine and although we leave some for guests to enjoy, feel free to bring your own favourites! The accommodation is 5 mins drive from Castle Dargan golf and spa and the nearby lake. Strandhill beach is just 20 mins away so this is an ideal base for surfers. The property has wifi internet access and there is ample parking with secure storage for bikes, surf boards, etc. We provide fresh bedlinen and towels for each stay. Guests staying a week or longer may use the washing machine and dryer at the main house.
Ballintogher is a peaceful, friendly village. We have a convenience store named Checkout in the heart of the village that is open from early until 10pm most evenings. There are two nice pubs and an RC church opposite the school with a kids playground. All these are 5 minutes walk from the house.
  • Such a peaceful and warm place to stay! The apartment was warm, spotlessly clean and perfectly set up for a long weekend. Maura was friendly and great to communicate with, and gave us really helpful hints. We appreciated her hospitality at what is a very unusual and stressful time in Europe. Highly recommended and we can't wait to be back in stunning Sligo.

  • Maura was so welcoming and the place was lovely. Easy to find and easy check in. Maura was very quick at responding and was an extremely welcoming and helpful host, highly recommend! We will be back :)

  • It's a beautiful, modern and cozy house that I really enjoyed staying even the stormy weather. Maura and Paul are very thoughtful people that they helped a lot when I needed. I recommend strongly this lovely house and the host.

Idyllically located in the heart of Union Wood, 7miles from Sligo town this cosy self-contained cabin provides an ideal location to get away from it all, with fishing, hiking & mountain bike trails on your doorstep though action is never far away! This is an ideal stopover on your Wild Atlantic Way adventure or if you're attending a wedding in Markree Castle or Castle Dargan hotel. My parents, Brendan & Sheila will be on hand to show you around and give you a real Sligo welcome!
The Woodcutter's Cabin is a handcrafted, log-style cabin built over a bubbling stream, nestled among the mature trees of Union Wood, and 100 metres from the banks of the Ballisodare River. The accommodation is open plan with kitchen (gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster. No oven), breakfast counter, living space and sleeping space with views of the stream and garden (and a few fawns if you're lucky!) and a separate bathroom. The double bed, which can be split into two singles, looks out into the woodland (keep an eye out for the rare red squirrel!) There's a wood burning stove in the Cabin to make it even extra cosy! If you let us know what time you will be arriving at we will try to make sure it is lit in advance. The village of Collooney, which is serviced by trains and buses, is 1.5miles from the Cabin and has supermarkets, pubs and a cafe. Sligo town is approximately 7 miles away. Markree Castle and Castle Dargan Hotel are approximately 5 minutes drive away. Local taxi services are available.
  • We had a great time. The cabin is so nice inside and very cosy. We hope to come back again.

    Lorcan2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Woodcutter’s Cabin is absolutely beautiful. It’s nestled in among trees in the Union Forest and surrounded by wonderful views. The hosts are fantastic and had the fire lit and heating on upon our arrival. The cabin has all the features needed for a cozy evening, including a hob, full cooking equipment, boardgames and a comfy bed. I can’t recommend this cabin enough. We will definitely be back.

    Katherine2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely great weekend getaway. Both Sheila and Brendan were amazing hosts, especially staying up to welcome us when we're delayed getting in from Dublin. They were also nice enough to give us a lift into town on Saturday night. The cabin was a perfect hideaway during Storm Jorge. The wooden stove was amazing and was running when we arrived so the place was toasty and warm. We'll definitely be back!

    Robert2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with every need and comfort catered for. Highly recommended. Extremely clean and comfortable. I loved it.

    Karen2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was brilliant; they had the fire lit for our arrival which was great as we had just finished surfing so arriving to a warm cabin was just what we needed. Brendan gave us a lift into town on Saturday which was very kind of him. Great setting and great hosts. Hopefully will be back.

    Cian2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This stay is a must. The cabin is spotless and lots of amenities (blankets, hot-water bottles, hairdryer) are provided. The location is very beautiful, and close to Sligo if you have a car. I hope to be back.

    Rebecca2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was for my brother not me, and could of therefore became complicated, but it wasn’t. And Sinead’s parents who dealt with the booking went above and beyond. My brother said place was immaculate and in lovely area, and enjoyed watching the wild dear. He doesn’t drive and still managed to get around in village and forest trails. Has recommended me to visit. So I would therefore highly recommend. Thanks again for everything!

A large, bright double room with modern en-suite shower room and/or twin room in our historic country house with spectacular views over looking the valley in the heart of Yeats' county. Close to both the ocean and Ox mountains. Perfect for artists, writers, walkers, surfers and mountain bikers, or those who just want to get away from the stresses of modern day life. We only take one booking at a time, so whether you are 1 person or 4 people you will have the house to yourself, apart from us!
Built in the 1840s this beautiful family house has never not been home to the O'Hara family. Rich in Irish history, Annaghmore retains its old shabby chic charm, the house doesn't promise to be perfect, but comfortable and fun!
Sligo is often overlooked by visitors travelling in Ireland, which is a huge mistake! The county is really beautiful with many attractions, including magnificent mountains and hills to climb, spectacular views, waterfalls, a wonderful coastline and a fabulous number of pubs offering awesome live music, delicious food and a great pint of Guinness. Sligo is also the adopted home of the poet W.B Yeats. He spent a lot of time here and you can visit his final resting spot under the watchful eye of Ben Bulben mountain. He was good friends with the Gore Booth family who owned Lissadell house, built in the 1830s, the house and it's beautiful garden is well worth a visit.
  • Nicola and Durcan (and dogs) , thank you so much for your hospitality, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope to be back at some point. Take care of yourselves during this difficult time. Paul & Karen & Laura

    Paul2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were only looking for somewhere near Sligo to stop on our way to Donegal and we didn't expect to find such a gem. Nicola and Durkan were such warm hosts and so accommodating to us. Especially, we were touched by how friendly they were to the kids. Our three year old is disappointed that where we're staying now doesn't have any dogs nor animals on the wall! The house has such character. We loved the huge ceilings and enormous bedroom. We had a perfect morning stomping around outside exploring the beautiful grounds. I hope we can come and stay again.

    Jacob2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Nicola and Durkin. The manor, dating from 1790, is rich in history and surrounded by lovely Irish countryside. Nicole's traditional Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed connecting over morning coffee. We wish we had allotted more time to explore the area.

    Jon2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay with Nicola and Durkan over the New Year. Perfect hosts. A grand house surrounded by countryside that goes on for miles. Thank you for allowing us to share your home. Jane and Roy

  • If you've ever dreamed of staying in a home that resembled Downton Abbey - then this place is for you :-) My hubby and I decided to take a break from our busy big city lifestyle and absolutely loved staying at this 200-year-old estate in Sligo. Filled with historical artifacts, every corner has a story to tell and the host - Nicola - a typical English rose - easily unravelled its history as well as other points of conversation surrounding the rich culture of Ireland as well as the UK over the scrumptious brekkie she made for us. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, comfy and warm. The bathroom is brand new with a lovely shower and loads of warm water which was really important for me as we visited during winter. Nicola, her husband and 6 pets were absolutely wonderful hosts and were so warm and welcoming. I highly reccomend this property if you plan to visit Ireland and are looking for something unique!

  • A beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

  • Our stay in Annaghmore was an unforgettable AirBnB experience. Nicola and Durcan were fantastic hosts making us feel so welcome and at ease - we felt we knew them for ages and they were fantastic company and full of local tips and information. And the house? Annaghmore House is a truly unique place, a step back in time, comfortable, atmospheric and totally relaxing. It is big enough that you don’t feel like you are intruding and Nicola and Durcan are expert hosts. And what an historic place! Every room is full of history and Durcan is brim full of knowledge and interest about the history of the house and family. In addition to all these things Annaghmore is a great base from which to explore Sligo and surrounding counties and we were sorry we didn’t have more time and will be definitely be back and would love to stay in this fantastic AirBnB again. So it’s 6 stars from us and a big thanks to Durcan and Nicola. Our recommendation is book it yourself while you have a chance!

    Pauline2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We Loved their place so much! Their land is stunningly beautiful with paths to walk or run. It had so much beautiful history and charm. We absolutely loved our stay so much and their delicious homemade traditional Irish breakfast. We truly hope we can come back and bring our kids, they even have a game room with a ping pong table or where you can do yoga, which my sister and I did. We really enjoyed visiting with the host, they were so attentive and sweet, even giving us warm water bottles at night. They also had great recommendations on where to go close by for food and music. We will miss it there and wish we could have stayed longer.

  • This place is fantastic if you’re looking for a more remote getaway! It’s very close to hiking trails, and the inside is very cozy. If you like dogs, the host has a very cute and friendly dog which will guide you on a walk around the lake nearby.

Rathosey Cottage is a rustic secluded traditional Irish stone cottage over 200 years old, located in the foothills of the Ox Mountains. Our cottage is perfect for people who like walking, getting away from city life and being surrounded by wildlife in a rustic setting. There is an open fire to relax beside in the evening and guests have access to Wifi. Our cottage is within walking distance of Coolaney village and a 20 minute drive from Sligo. Dunmoran strand is a ten minute drive away.
Rathosey Cottage is beside an ancient track-way originally giving access to Osey’s Rath (fort). There are three renovated Cottages in the tiny Clachán (traditional Irish village) two of which we let for holiday use (Laurel and Rathosey Cottage). Otherwise the cottage is surrounded by trees, stone walls and several acres for wildlife, including Deer, red squirrels, foxes, pheasants etc. Our little traditional cottage has been renovated so as to preserve its original features such as exposed beams and stone walls. It is a perfect place to get away from it all, to return to a more relaxed down-to-earth way of living (but with all mod cons!) and an open fire, for that extra bit of cosy! Streaming television is provided, including Netflix etc. Laurel Cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom, living/dining room and open fire. Located beside the lovely Village of Coolaney, at the end of a long private driveway, Laurel Cottage is only 20 minutes drive to Sligo Town, shopping centre of the North-West and is the perfect location to explore the Wild Atlantic Way. Please be aware that that our cottage has low doorways, steps and a slightly steep staircase, and it may not be suitable for someone with limited mobility. We are happy to offer a 15% discount for stays of seven nights or more, this discount will apply when you select your dates.
Our neighbourhood is rural and our cottages are unique because they are secluded but within reach of a village with a grocery shop, butcher, hairdresser and pubs. Coolaney is a friendly village and a Tidy Towns winner. The area is beautiful with walks nearby at Glenwood and along the Ladie's Brea Scenic Route. A short drive down the Mountain brings you to the coast with an amazing view of Knocknarea in the distance. At the bottom of the Mountain you join the N59, the N59 is part of the Wild Atlantic Way and takes you either towards Sligo or in the opposite direction towards Easkey.
  • Rathosey Cottage is simply one of the most amazing places I have stayed , located perfectly for surfing , between Bundoran and Easky , great location , completely green , beautiful surroundings and super peaceful . The house has a lot of character and the fire just creates an amazing environment . We felt welcome with little touches that made us feel at home . Marilin was very fast at getting back to us and went the extra mile to make sure we had the best possible experience ! Strongly recommend this place !!!

    Andre2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Rathosey Cottage is an absolute gem. We (family of 4) enjoyed a week late October 2019 in the cottage and it was 'home' in no time at all after our arrival. Throughout the booking process Marilin was very responsive and friendly in answering any of my questions. This high level of communication continued throughout our stay. Check in was exactly as described. The cottage is brilliantly secluded, though adjacent to another similar cottage (we had neighbours but never met them as they clearly wanted their solitude too). For a cottage where you feel you're 'getting away from it all', we were still within a 15 minute walk to the local shops and pub. Our stay had a really authentic feel to it and I cant recommend highly enough that everyone take the opportunity to relax in front of such a cosy open fire in a such a perfect setting. The TV/SoundBar and WiFi is a great addition for those who might worry about getting bored, though the cottage also boasts a full bookcase, some boardgames and views looking out with the potential to spot some local deer (which we did). Rathosey Cottage was a great spot - if the prospect of isolation doesn't appeal there is tons to do nearby. We visited the stunning locations of Inniscrone, Strandhill, Rosses Point and ate and enjoyed the views there (all within 30mins drive). We also conquered Knocknarea to visit Queen Maebhs grave, and were mesmerised by the 6,000yr old megalithic Carrowmore cemetery. I wish anyone planning to stay in Rathosey Cottage as wonderful a time as we had.

    Jane2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little cottage in a nice rural isolated location. The cottage was clean and contained all the necessities that we needed for the week (small kitchen, washing machine, fridge & freezer and Netflix). For being in a rural area there was lots to do all within a short drive (15 to 30 minutes). We loved our first visit to Ireland and definitely would go back to this little cottage again in the future.

    Ben2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, idyllic setting nestled in woodland it was the perfect place for a short break for me and my partner. The cottage was easy to get to with google maps using the postal code. We drove from Dublin airport in about 2.5 hours. Key was in a key safe and easy to find. It’s fairly close to Sligo and a lot of attractions, we drove up to the Glencar waterfall and across to Enniskillen in one day out. The cottage had all you’d need for a few days and the kitchen was well equipped. We cooked a few meals during our stay and had no problems. I’d definitely return to the cottage and would recommend it to couples and families.

    Elizabeth2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect to relax and have a peaceful time, either by yourself or with your family. The house had everything we needed, was very cosy and comfortable.

  • One floor, no stairs. Pay as you go for electricity, but really easy and not that expensive. Just keep a few 1 and 2 euro coins on the counter. Ask Audrey for help with washer/dryer. We figured it out but didn’t need to as she was very available.

Welcome to my cosy, peaceful, rural dwelling. I am excited to welcome all to my home. Tucked away in the unspoilt village of Keash, rural South Sligo, this is the ideal place to get away from it all.
Located on a small beef farm which is 2k from the famous caves of Keash. An ideal location for walkers, climbers, fishermen, nature lovers, artists and those wanting to be close to the Wild Atlantic Way. No place better to be to embrace the four seasons. A warm, spacious, king size bedroom with private ensuite. You also have a private living room with sofa, tv, desk and views to the unspoilt landscape. All areas are on ground floor with wheel chair access.
  • Highly recommend this airbnb! Catherine is a lovely host who provided a very warm welcome on our arrival. The room is really comfortable with everything you need and the breakfast in the morning was great! You will really enjoy your stay here.

  • Catherine is so warm and friendly and she has a beautiful and comfortable spot to stay. The bed is so comfy and the sitting room is just for your use, it is almost like having your own place. Breakfast was great and the use of the kitchen to prepare your meal is handy. The WIFI worked splendidly. If our travels had us return to the area we'd be sure to stay again! thanks Catherine

  • Catherine is very friendly host. Thank you for your hospitality and recommendations. The house is big, comfortable in quite beautiful place. The room and bathroom are spacious and clean. Me and my husband were very happy to spend time here.

    Anastasia2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Absolutely nothing wrong! Everything was perfect. Catherine was not here to greet us, but the explanations for entering on our own were very clear. Very nice host, small attentions for tea and treats on arrival and for lunch. Very large room, huge bathroom. And in addition to the small private lounge with a panoply of leaflets for the sites to discover in the neighborhoods. We really enjoyed! Thank you again Catherine!

The space: Two floors as shown. Upstairs, double bed plus alcoves for working/extra bed. Generous cupboard. Velux roof lights with blinds. Wooden floor boards artist paint stained. • Daragh was very friendly and the check in was very uncomplicated. The accommodation is very cozy and beautiful. Perfect to spent some quiet days in the nature! :)

    Kristin2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We recently stayed at Daragh’s cottage and had an amazing time. The cottage was easy to locate and in very close proximity to the local town Dromahair. We would recommend having a car as most places in this area are more remote. The cottage was cozy and clean and bright, and with the peat fire lit it was a dream! Very comfortable for the two of us, plenty of space. The kitchen was very convenient as well. Daragh was on hand to check us in (and we even met his very friendly dog!) and responded very quickly to any question we had, but we definitely felt like we had the cottage all to ourselves. Great stay!

    Derrec2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place. Located in stunning countryside, it's peaceful and relaxing, yet only a short drive from Sligo town and all the area has to offer. Daragh made us feel very welcome and after a brief hiccup with the hot water, he sorted it out for us. The space is very comfortable. We visited during very cold and stormy weather, but were cosy and warm once the stove was lit. The bed is so comfortable and the loft area is lovely with all the natural light. The kitchen is well equipped. We cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for our 5 night stay and had no problems. The bathroom had a couple of issues with the shower and heating but Daragh is due to have these problems fixed soon. The place was spotlessly clean. Overall a really lovely place made even more special by Daragh's friendly dog and two cats. We'll definitely return.

  • John was an excellent host. He provided perfect instructions on how to get to his place and had left the key ready for us as we would be arriving late. The location is amazing and looks out over Lough Gill. YOU do definitely need a car to get there however it can only be described as picturesque once you do. The chalet itself was perfectly clean. It's a decent sized space for 2 people for a few night and includes all the facilities you'd need including clear instructions on how to use everything, from the heating to the TV. John had left us some milk and tea bags which was much appreciated too. We really enjoyed our nights in Sligo and definitely would stay again with John in his chalet.

It is close to the host’s home and check-in was a simple matter of introducing ourselves on arrival. The Carrowkeel Megalithic complex is a short 10 minute drive away, which I would highly recommend to anyone staying at Michelle and Mark's cabin.

Our home is located in the beautiful and very historical area of Keash, Ballymote in the North West of Ireland. This house was originally built in the 1850s and until we made some minor renovations in the past few years, it would have been your typical three roomed Irish cottage with a large fireplace at the heart of the dwelling. It is full of character and charm from its thick stone built walls and small doorways to the various steps throughout the house.
Our home consists of a kitchen come dining, utility room, attic living room, bathroom and one master bedroom. Unfortunately due to its very old design, our home may not suit someone with mobility issues or anyone with young children.
We are nicely nestled between the folklore mountain of Keshcorran to the West and Carrowkeel Megalithic Complex on the Bricklieve Mountain range to the east. Wine and Dine in the area - The Travellers Rest Bar: Just 2km from our front door, you will find one of Ireland’s smallest pubs (if not the smallest). If it’s real country style Ireland you are looking for then this is the place to sample one of the finest pints of Guinness this land has to offer. On the right day and with the right locals at the bar this is an experience you’ll not forget. The Fox’s Den Bar and Country Kitchen: Food and beer, sure what else would you want. 3kms away in the heart of Keash you will find this gem. With its large choice of good food, from its award winning country kitchen, you will not leave here hungry. The Wild Atlantic Mussels are to die for or maybe if that’s not to your liking then try the Caveman Burger. Ask any local about the food here, "it’s always consistently tasty". If you can check out the “small bar” section of the pub, with its original 19th century open fire and good pints. You’ll not regret it. Try their local beer too, “Andersons”, a great pint of red ale. The Coach House Hotel: Breakfast, Lunch or Fine Dining, they’ve got it all. In the Town of Ballymote just 10mins away, this is where you’ll find another great spot for a bite to eat. The Irish breakfast is just perfect to set you up for any day. They have great lunch specials and a fantastic evening menu with lots of choice too. We love dining here on a Sunday evening, as from 5pm they have an in house pianist to play out the last few hours of service. Walking, Hiking and Fishing - Carrowkeel Megalithic Complex: A 5km hike from the front door of our house will take you to the top of Carrowkeel. Here you will find 14 megalithic passage tombs. These tombs are thought to be in the region of 6000 years old and have an association to more passage tombs at Carrowmore on the outskirts of Sligo some 20km away. On the longest day of the year, 21st June, you can see the summer solstice light up one of the passage tombs. The Caves of Keash: A sight to behold, 5mins drive or a 6km walk will take you to the foot of Keshcorran, where on the south facing side of the mountain you will see 17 limestone caves, the highest caves in Ireland, each one waiting to be explored. Folklore has it, that the first High King of Ireland Cormac Mac Airt was raised here for the first few years of his life by a she-wolf and her pack. A short 10-15min climb will take you to the first of the 17 caves. Take in the views of some of the finest scenery around. Lookout for Fenagh Lake which has a similar outline to that of a map of Ireland or on a clear day look for Croagh Patrick Mountain in Westport some 80km away. If you’re feeling more adventurous then continue to the top of the mountain, heading up the left side of the caves. Choice of lakes: If it’s fishing you’re after, there are plenty of well-known trout fishing lakes around. Check out Lough Arrow, one of the larger lakes in the area, some 5mins drive beyond the village of Castlebaldwin. Or a fantastic smaller lake option at the rear of Keshcorran Mountain you’ll find the lovely Lough Na Leibe, approx 7mins drive away. Shopping: The bustling town of Sligo has lots of high street brands available and is 20mins heading North West on the N4. About 10mins east you’ll find the town of Boyle and 10mins West you’ll find the town of Ballymote, both similar in size with some bars, restaurants and large grocery stores. A 5min drive from our home you will find the village of Castlebaldwin. Here you can pick up, in Mullins service station, some everyday bits and pieces like bread and milk etc... Here you will also find an eat in or take away fast food restaurant. Capital City shopping: A two hour drive east will take you to Dublin City. If you prefer the train, then 10mins from here you will find Boyle train station linking to Connolly Station at in the heart of Dublin City with a number of stops along the way. This journey is about two and half hrs long. There are many other activities to do in and around the area, all just a short drive away.

  • Quaint and cosy, dog friendly self catering cottage. The hosts are friendly and responsive. They had the wood burning stove which heats it all lit when we arrived. Location is on a quiet country road so if you want peace and quiet it’s a good choice. The cottage has everything needed to cook and a good shower with constant hot water. I’d come here for longer again if staying in the area.

  • Such fantastic hosts. Unfortunately our baby became ill and had to stay in hospital. We were looked after so well at the cottage when our daughter was ill and flexibility with checkout etc as a result. Made was a stressful time much easier as a result. The cottage is very quaint and the perfect place to relax and get away from it all with walks. I’d imagine summer is lush!

  • Amazing getaway, stay longer than one night if possible. Steve was a great host and very accommodating. Organised an early check in and late check out. Stove is beautiful and makes the place so nice and cosy. Perfect for dogs or children. Lots of beautiful walks. Master bed a bit squeaky but super comfy too! We’ll definitely be back.

  • Very clean, comfortable, quiet, cozy place. Heats up very quickly with the big wood stove. Great shower. Steve and Julie were very friendly, communicative, and helpful. There was a big storm one night and Julie brought over candles and a flashlight in case the power went out (it didn’t). Nice area close to lakes and a couple small local pubs.

  • A real air bnb gem. The cottage is cosy and clean with stunning scenery and walks right at your front door. You have a fenced in area which is great if you are bringing a dog with you. It is also only a short drive to Sligo town and Carrick-On-Shannon. The hosts are absolutely fantastic - really warm, welcoming and great knowledge of the local area. We had a brilliant time and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!!

  • The room is perfectly good, and it is near to the local transport station. If you have your own transport, then there is space for on-road parking. The house is also within easy walking distance of the town centre, and the local amenities are also good. Valerie is a good host and the house is clean and tidy. Excellent value for money here.

  • Same as written in the other reviews. Host is very kind! I got a chat and a cup of tea, thanks for that! James welcomed me in the house, very quiet place, short walking distance from city center, bus/train station. Great location and best price around. Simple room, a bit dusty but does the service. Shared bathroom. Centra is two minutes walking away and there is also a small pub and cheaper.

My apartment is located in the centre of Sligo town, a blink away from everything you'll need. It's private, cosy, and central, suitable for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Being so central, it can be noisy. Light sleepers take note.
It's a two-bedroom apartment in a gated complex right in the centre of Sligo town. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, and clubs within easy reach and you're never far from nature with the river fifty metres away.
Sligo town is friendly and easy-going, rain, hail, or shine. The best thing I ever did was move here. Being in the centre of town, it can get a little 'lively' at night. I provide earplugs to help with that.
  • Eamonn was very accommondating and plesant . Central location with everything in arms reach .

    Alexander2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Eamon is a very relaxed, helpful and flexible host. His answers come almost immediately. A perfect place to stay if you want to have a nice evening in the pub in Sligo Town. It can get loud at night, but you really only have a few minutes walk to the pubs and restaurants. The earplugs are kindly ready!

    Andrea2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean room and bathroom, the apartment is in plain city center. Eamon went outside to get us in for a warmth welcoming, gave us local tips and even provided earplugs to sleep (very noisy people down the road) !

    Nicolas2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Eamon was a great host. He even carried our bags up to his place. A brilliant location also 👌 Would 100% stay here again 👍👍

  • We are very grateful to Eamon for hospitality, kind attitude and excellent advice! Thanks to him, we have so many wonderful experiences and memories. Eamon is a very interesting person, it was interesting to communicate with him, to learn new things about the country and its inhabitants. An authentic apartment in the very center of Sligo, among the romantic bridges, it is comfortable and interesting. There are many pubs in the area, having come here on weekends or holidays you can plunge headlong into unbridled fun with locals and other tourists. We advise.

This restored 100 year old stone cottage is not just a place to come. It is a place to return to. Its light and privacy allow deep peace and dream-time on the shore of Lough Arrow. It lies at a distance of 4 miles north of Boyle and approx 15 miles from Sligo. Lough Arrow is one of Ireland’s renowned brown trout lakes, fishing is free and boats and ghillies are available on request. Carrowkeel Megalythic tombs and the Bricklieve mountains of Sligo are a short drive away.
Our cottage is located right on the shores of Lough Arrow. There is a beautiful mature landscaped garden with direct access to the lake from our private jetty. We have a 19ft row boat available upon request. There is also an outdoor barbeque area with plenty of seating and spectacular views of Carrowkeel across the lake. We are very close to Kilronan Castle (15 minutes) Boyle (15 minutes) Carrick on Shannon and Sligo are both within 30 minutes drive.
  • Lovely cottage in a quiet remote area. Right an the lake shore ideal for fishing’s. Only a short drive to local towns. 10 mins from Boyle and 25mins from Carrick on Shannon. We were made very welcome, greeted on our arrival with fresh scones butter and jam and the coal fire was ablaze. Dymphna was a wonderful host. We look forward to returning.

  • I could not rate this house and location higher. It was such a gorgeous house in the most spectacular of locations. Would love to return in the summer.

    Tara2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Dymphna was a great host, with good communication. Highly recommend staying here!

    Amy2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil setting to unwind & relax, beautiful stone cottage, mature garden with direct access to the lake. Great location to explore Sligo / N Roscommon. Mighty fishing on Lough Arrow, 30mins from Strandhill beach, nice walks around caves of keash, 10mins from all the Lough key activities. Also leisurely pony trekking along the beach near Mullaghmore, In Drumcliff Yeats grave & Glencar waterfall is worth a visit. Plenty of restaurants / pub grub in surrounding area but fav was Di Vino in Carrick on Shannon. Dymphna is a super host, thanks again

    Philip2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dymphna's Cottage is just as pictured: a delightful stone house on a quiet lane on the shore of Lough Arrow. For us it was an oasis of tranquility and beauty. The house itself is cozy and welcoming; I felt immediately at home there. The rooms are diminutive, nothing like our austere, cavernous contemporary spaces. The very thick walls add to a sense of security, protection. This is a great place to go within--but also to go out into nature, in the row boat, or enjoying the mile-long walk down this lane or other ones nearby. From every window there is an attractive view of gardens, stonework, paths. It was a privilege to stay here, and I certainly hope to do so again.

Whether it's a short stay or a time for you to relax and enjoy the delights of Sligo, our Cosy Cabin is the place for you. Close to Markree Castle, Coolaney for mountain biking, Strandhill for surfing, Benbulben for trekking and Sligo for culture, great restaurants, cafes and super traditional Irish pubs. We offer a comfortable and welcoming stay in a natural space with woodlands, meadows and a river to explore. You have complete privacy but we are close by if you need us for anything.
There is a fully working kitchen with hob, fridge with freezer as well as tea and coffee. Electric power shower in the bathroom. Hot water in kitchen and bathroom taps. There is an outside tap suitable for cleaning off surf gear and also mountain biking gear as well as a space to store and dry them. We built the Cosy Cabin with an emphasis on sustainability but maintaining comfort and warmth. So we have endeavoured to source reclaimed materials, upcycling, repurposing and reusing as much as possible. We have a rain water collecting butt for the loo which is plumbed directly to the cistern and we use "green energy" electricity. Recycling of rubbish and composting is part of how we live. We grow our own vegetables in our garden and polytunnel surrounded by fruit bushes and trees. Our free roaming hens provide us with fresh eggs and our bees keep us in honey. There is plenty of space around us, 7acres, but we are also so close to Sligo 20mins, Knock Airport 30mins, Markree Castle 7mins, Coolaney mountain bike trail 7mins, Strandhill 25mins that we can be anywhere really quickly. Its the best of both worlds! There is plenty of nature around at different times of the year to observe, from the heron catching fish on the river while the ducks are floating past, to all the little, and big, garden birds that frequent our garden. During the summer months the skies are alive with colourful dragonflies and damson flies while butterflies flutter by too. On clear nights you can star gaze, possibly able to see the Milky Way and the different constellations in the night sky.
  • What an amazing stay. A great location. Beautiful cabin. I was delighted to arrive and see some fresh eggs & bread & butter put out for us by our host. Tea and coffee facilities are great. The bed is so comfortable! The entire space is just great. Thank you!

    William2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Aisling's wonderful cabin was just perfect. We looked for a little get away from Dublin and definitely found it. The cabin was sparkling clean and is filled with all the essentials and more. Aisling put a lot of love in the place, and we felt welcomed from the very first second. We even got surprised by self-made porridge bread, eggs from the hens that were running around the next day, and further essentials for a lovely breakfast. Not one thing we would have wished different - 5 stars out of 5 :-)

    Kathrin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was awesome and this place is the cutest place we had so far. We just stayed for one night but had all we needed. Aisling left some fresh eggs and porridge bread for breakfast. Close to the tiny house is a nice river and Sligo or Strandhill are just a short drive away. All in all perfect and we are looking forward to come back!

    Lena2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Could not recommend this place enough! Lovely little cosy gem in Sligo, close enough to Sligo city but you also feel completely away from the hustle and bustle! Quaint and gorgeous surroundings! Aisling was such a lovely host, we had absolutely everything we needed in the house. The personal touches made all the difference from the hot water bottles left to the fresh bread and eggs for breakfast! There’s a lovely little walk down to the river where it’s so scenic! When we come to Sligo again we will definitely be back!

    Katie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Alison is wonderful host. She provided us with so much food for breakfast and also with her homemade scones. The loft is clean, with everything you need, with stylish decoration that make us feel warm. The location is wonderful with a feel of tranquility yet still not too far from town. The large windows is really the icing on the cake which we could watch sheep and lamb running around the little hill in the morning.

    Stanley2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Allison’s place was lovely. The view out the window with the sheep on the hillside is beautiful. Allison left us homemade sconces that were yummy. She also provided tea, coffee, butter, jam, milk and ham and cheese for sandwiches. Allison’s hospitality was outstanding. And she took time to talk with us about their sheep. It was a great visit even in the time of corona virus.

  • This is the best airbnb I've ever been to. Alison and her family were amazing and friendly hosts who went above and beyond to make our trip perfect! 10/10 would stay again and would tell everyone else to stay as well.

  • We have stayed in airbnbs through the world and have hosted hundreds ourselves. This is definitely one of the top few! Alison has thought of a plethora of additional touches and personalized our stay with things for our toddler. It's made our time there very pleasant. We got to meet a young lamb too. The view out the window is serene as you can watch lambs graze. Thanks for a beautiful stay!

  • Alison’s place is great. It is close to Sligo, was very clean, and she had some great tips for us. The loft was warm when we got there (no needing to worry about being chilled until the place warmed up). She also met us in person, and gave some great suggestions based on our plans which turned out to be fantastic. The loft has all the cooking amenities you could ask for, as well as freshly baked scones and some other provisions. I would highly recommend her place and would absolutely stay here again.

  • I had an absolutely wonderful 3night stay in Alison's comfy apartment - its cozy, very clean, beautifully decorated and spacious and has all the amenities needed. The view of the sheep grazing on the fields from the big window really adds something special to the place. Alison is a lovely host. She gave me tips on local walks in Sligo, told me all about the Suffolk sheep and I even got an opportunity to feed the lambs! Access to Union woods is literally opposite the farm and Sligo town only 10mins away. I would've loved to stay longer as everything about this place is inviting. I would highly recommend!

Operating since March 2020 with magnificent reviews, Your apartment is located in a quiet residential area & in easy walking distance of the heart of town and the Yeats Summer School. You have 2 shops & local pub less than a minute walk. The apartment is bright & cosy with modern furnishings, smart TV, wifi & gas heating/water; a double bedroom & a comfy double sofa bed in the living room. Children aged 2 yrs + are most welcome. There's a raised back garden for supervised play.
Your apartment is on the ground floor, at the front of the property. It has just been renovated for your comfort and has a black, white and red theme. The bedroom has a comfy double bed with built in wardrobes. Across the hallway is your shower room and toilet with high quality aloe vera soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser & toothgel. In the living room you have a double sofa bed, smart TV & a large wall mirror. Just off to the side is your brand new kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob, microwave, etc. The apartment is kept cosy by gas heating which also heats the water for you. I hope your stay will be comfortable and happy so please let me know if there's anything more you need.
Mail Coach Road is a friendly, quiet, mainly residential area just beside the main streets of the town itself. The Applegreen filling station, Christy's Supermarket and Caheny's Pub are about a minutes walk either side. Within walking distance also you have various religious churches and places of worship, the Theatre, our Tourist Information Office and the Peace Park. A slightly longer walk will take you to Sligo Racecourse with regular meets during the summer months. Beside it is the Sports Complex with a swimming pool, gym, indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The Garavogue river & walks are there to. You can enjoy a trip on Lough Gill and see Yeat's Innisfree Island. Along the rivers edge you'll find the outdoor gym and playgrounds as you follow the path. Remember to bring some food for the ducks and swans but make sure it's health promoting;- for instance, corn, grapes, oats, wheat, lettuce, vegetable trimmings and peas are all much more suitable and safe than dry bread which is known to cause severe health issues for all types of our feathered friends. For us humans, Sligo offers many amazing culinary experiences with its vast array of fine restaurants, cafes and pub food choices. Check out the Sligo Food Trail online. Watch out also for darts and a good sing song in Caheny's down the Street with its reputation for Sligo's finest example of draught Guinness and a pizza. There's lots to see, do & experience in walking distance from Your Place in the Yeats County.
  • I highly recommended Patricia's place, it was exceptional. Patricia was the perfect host too, she couldn't do enough for us.

  • I had the pleasure of being the first guest to stay here. Patricia is very nice and helpful. The place itself is excellent. Warm, all mod cons and in a great location with plenty of free parking. I have already booked to stay here again.

I have a single room + ensuite with panoramic views of the Ox mountain range, our house is located in the countryside on Oakfield Road yet is very close to Sligo town - 1 mile to centre. Sligo has so much to offer: The Megalithic Tombs at Carrowmore are 1.8 miles and Knocknarea 3 miles away. Strandhill and Culleenamore are beautiful beaches 5 miles and Rosses Point has a Blue flag beach 6 miles. The Lake Isle of Innisfree is a beautiful island to visit just off the south coast of Lough Gill.

  • This was my second stay with Rosemarie and I'm sure I'll be back again. Beautiful room in a wonderful location, with a lovely breakfast thrown in. They couldn't be more helpful even de-iced my car in the morning.

My home is only a short walk from the town center and is located in a quiet cul de sac. The available space in my home is a spacious double bedroom with a fabulous view of Knocknarea.
  • Very good overnight stay in Mary's accommodation, we were very well received and advised. The house is in a cul de sac as indicated by Mary but very convenient for parking. His house is 10 minutes walk from the glue center, which is a real plus!

  • Had a great stay here for one night. Mary is a wonderful host!

    Karam2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was the ideal host. Warm and cooperative and very friendly, she even helped me get a taxi into town. The location was spot on, only a spin down the road to sligo town centre. The room was charming and clean and I wish I could have stayed longer. I’d definitely recommend!

    Katherine2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, less than 10 minutes walk to town. Super clean. Mary was really friendly and helpful.

    Paul2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was neat, clean and that our check-in was a bit later than planned was no problem for Mary. She is a sweet host. We stayed one night only, but it was uncomplicated and comfy.

    Laura2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and clean room and bathroom. The property is located on a hill just outside the city center. It is about 15 minutes downhill into the city, however, the arrival and uphill with luggage is a bit difficult from the bus station / the Garda station. The traffic connection is unfortunately only moderately with a bus only half an hour during the day drives and at least on weekends from about 18 o'clock not more.
