**The house consists of 4 pods as is in the Bali tradition and there they are connected by walkways , all off which we have enclosed to protect from the elements. However the halls being not heated / insulated so walking from the bedroom to the kitchen/ dining in the inter you might feel cold. Our family & many renters are totally ok with this but please consider it for yourself:)** Enveloped by 7.5 acres of woodland, private pond and grassy pasture,it will lull you into its haven. It's the perfect marriage of the organic materials , handmade craftsmanship and the location that set you up in the peaceful state of mind when you spend some time here. After few hours here your body clock settles into a restful pace. I'm still not sure wether it is the memories of vacations in Bali or Thailand that get waken up while I'm here or the serene location or maybe there are some magnetic fields deep under ground, but I tell you, I sleep better here than anywhere else. Comfort, serenity & feelings of well being radiate in this place...Of course the super fast internet, Apple TV, 55" HDTV, luxurious bathtub next to the fireplace, the chefs kitchen : You should find in the kitchen most everything you could possibly need to create memorable meals. The pond is spring fed ( go for a swim ) , there is place for all your vehicles , your mobile phones will work just fine . With imported materials from Indonesia, it was built by hand by the inhabitants of Bali. I think we have covered everything but if you are our guest or just browsing and see something missing or think it can be improved , please let us know...Piotr and Kay. Don't forget the farm stands and swimming holes and Lake Minnewaska. The premises are equipped with exterior security cameras. Cameras are not monitored for guest safety in any way and should not be relied on by guests for personal security or security of their belongings. Cameras may be used to enforce and verify compliance with rental policies. Any damage caused to cameras by guest may result in a partial or complete loss of security deposit funds.
Please respect our home and our neighbors, The Bali House is a quiet sanctuary, if you are planning to party, carry on loud gatherings or any other excessive noise activities, this is not the house for it. Hiking, fishing, rock climbing, antiquing or getting pampered at Mohonk Mountain House Spa. The house is located in the middle of a completely private lot, you drive down a tree lined road and then turn into a 1000' driveway further lined with mature trees & lawns. The property is a home to abundance of bird species and you'll hear them singing as you drive in.
  • Truly such a lovely space. Absolutely what we were looking for in a weekend getaway retreat from the city. Calm, serene, and magical in every way. The layout of the house is so well thought out, and you can tell there has been a lot of love and attention to detail put into making the space a real home. So nostalgic to my time spent in Ubud in Bali as well - as if I was still there! The proximity to local hiking trails and restaurants was a welcomed bonus as well! Would highly recommend, and will most certainly be making future plans to stay here again!

  • My friends and I had a great time in Piotr and Kay's home. The design and environment of their house was exceptionally special. I would definitely return again and recommend this to anyone interested in a unique experience.

  • This house is beautiful and unique and a perfect long weekend getaway from the city. Communications from host are detailed and timely. Place is exactly as pictured, is clean, and fully stocked with amenities as described. Had a wonderful time and will be back!! Thank you very much Piotr and Kay!

  • A woodland sanctuary. Absolutely stunning and peaceful place to stay with an incredibly unique design and atmosphere. Owners are also wonderful and quick responders. Thank you so much for our stay!

  • Absolutely amazing. Cleanliness: Great. Everything was clean and organized. But what I really loved was that they provided extra supply so that we can help keep it clean! Some places just offer the bareboned accessories but wont leave any supplies to clean, which ends up in a much bigger mess. Thoughtfulness: They left a nice gift as a surprise for us when we arrived. We really appreciated that. Amazing location. Beautiful house. We came in the winter and everything was appropriately warmed. It was a nice quiet NYE indoors, with a working fireplace and a jacuzzi. Answered very promptly every time a question came up. Very reliable. Would absolutely recommend this place!

  • Very unique home in a beautiful, quiet setting. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire place! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook big meals and there was lots of space for our group of 8. Piotr and Kay were very easy to get in touch with. We enjoyed the stay very much!

  • Beautiful unique home, perfect for our weekend artist retreat birthday celebration. Piotr and Kay were super responsive to any questions. We hope to return sooner than later!

This is an old, renovated milk barn on a working farm. Both of the sleeping spaces are lofts that require climbing stabilized, vertical wooden ladders. There is a wood stove, running water, kitchen, living room & bathroom.
The space was originally lined with stainless steel & was a walk-in cooler for milk storage when there was a dairy farm on the land in the 40s. It was renovated by master carpenter, David Raponi, who lived here for 7 years and suffused the space with various quirks of comfort and creativity. It has a wood stove and we prepare the fires for our guests if requested. It is fully insulated & the original vaulted ceiling is intact. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink, and composting toilet similar to an outhouse.
This is a rural neighborhood. The property is adjacent to the Mohonk Preserve & the trails are within walking distance to our land. Minnewaska State Park is 7 miles away. We are 8 miles from the college town of New Paltz and 3 miles to the village of High Falls. There are many restaurants, antique shops & other interesting shops in the area.
  • The place was very cozy and cute, like a tiny place. Perfect peaceful and romantic escape for my partner and I. Lots of great hiking and geocaching nearby. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for adventurous and outdoorsy people!

    Madison2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The milk barn is a very cool building on a unique and secluded eco-friendly property 5 minutes outside of New Paltz. We enjoyed exploring the property, relaxing by the wood-burning stove, and talking with Toby, as well as other guests staying elsewhere on the property. It was a great community to be a part of, if only for a brief time. Cell phone reception was spotty, which was appreciated given the goal of our getaway. We would certainly stay again.

    Jarrett2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • As a New York City native, I found that this beautiful gem gave us so much more than we expected to get out of the trip. The barn fits perfectly for two people looking to get away from the city or share moments of intimacy. We brought some little personal touches such as string lights - which I recommend to future guests for romance - but all of Rio's other touches really gave off good vibrations. Quaint, cozy, romantic, tender. Something else to appreciate is how environmentally friendly this barn was. It will be different from what many people are used to, but it truly adds to the charm. The composting toilet was an interesting experience, especially. There is a good amount of space outside for people to wander off, and I imagine it is more beautiful during the summer, where people can have bbq's. Great location close to a couple of hiking destinations, which one of the reasons we took this little trip. New Paltz isn't far either, and it is a cute little town worth visiting. I highly recommend this place. It's affordable, beautiful, and unique. <3

    Amany2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic three night stay at the Milk Barn. So nice to escape from the city for a unique relaxing experience and with our large dog in tow. The mattress was comfortable, the composting toilet is a breeze, and lighting a fire each night added to the ambiance and fun. The ladder up to the larger bed is a little awkward, but is doable. Recommended items to bring: house slippers, wipes for dogs feet. Thank you to Rio and Toby - we'll be back!

    Stephanie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the milk barn, so cozy and charming. A unique stay for anyone looking to unplug and relax. Would love to come back in the summer.

    Cheryl2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I brought my large dog here for a mini mid-winter getaway, and we couldn’t have had a better stay! Rio and Toby were beyond accommodating, friendly, and communicative. The little milk barn was even cozier than I’d imagined, and we spent most of our time between there and roaming their beautiful grounds, just as striking in the rainier weather as in the sunshine. There are some permanent neighbors on the same property in other converted barn spaces, but you still have all the privacy you need. There were plenty of lovely little towns within very short driving distance in which to grab a bite to eat, as well as gorgeous scenery and tons of nearby trails for hiking and other outdoorsy activities. However, for our purposes of laying low and unwinding, it was perfect :)

    Sam2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely wonderful!! We came here to get away from NYC for an evening and escape to the countryside and nature - This place was perfect for that! We found the barn incredibly romantic and had a lovely evening there - quiet and super cozy with the wood stove. The place is really close to tons of trails, so we were able to hike in the evening and again in the morning. Rio and Toby were also super hospitable! Brought us wood and helped us light the fire, shared lots of details about the MilkBarn itself as well as cool things to do in High Falls. My partner and I adored this place and will definitely be back!! ☺️

    Allyson2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This location is lovelier than I could have imagined. Clean, quiet, the perfect size, and unique with thoughtful details in its design. The hosts were great. They greeted us when we got there, checked in to see if we needed anything and answered all our questions. They also showed us how we could easily create a fire in the wood stove which kept us warm and toasty. I hope to be back soon! It is perfect for a romantic getaway! 10/10

  • Where to begin?!? My boyfriend and I decided to rent this little adorable cabin in the woods for one night as a little getaway. The kitchen is spacious, modern but vintage, and completely functional with absolutely stunning French doors that bring in so much light to the cabin. Then you enter the next room where you’ll find a nice set up including a couch with a TV as well as an extremely comfortable bed and a completely updated bathroom. My boyfriend and I decided to utilize the fire pit conveniently located right off the back deck (which may I add has a cute set of table and chairs) after we cooked a delicious dinner. This cabin was a perfect way to get away from the chaos of our everyday lives and enjoy a quiet, serene place that fit the two of us just perfectly. I highly recommend this to any couple looking for a romantic getaway!!!

  • Jasmine’s cabin was cute and great! We really enjoyed the patio and the well-stocked kitchen. The heater worked really nicely so we were able to have a very cozy stay. Would love to come back sometime again!

  • Absolutely magical place to stay, especially after a long day of hiking nearby. Tons of natural light, beautiful kitchen, and the coziest decorations. We wished we didn’t have to leave...

  • We had a great stay here! Went for a long weekend in March, great access to hikes and walks as well as nearby towns. The place was extremely clean when we arrived, the kitchen and appliances are great for cooking, and Jasmine was responsive to our questions.

    Jake2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jasmine's place is great, beautiful kitchen with a deck and big back yard with mountains and trees in the background.

  • Jasmine's place is the perfect getaway from NYC. If you're looking for something rustic, but also fully liveable/not off-grid, this is your spot. Full big kitchen, cozy main room. Perfect area for hiking, private but not completely alone in the woods. Recommend it!

The house has been renovated to a very high standard, creating a comfortable and peaceful place. Start the day with a mug of coffee curled up on the window seat watching the sunlight sparkle in the stream. Some breakfast items are provided for your first morning. The kitchen is fully equipped for everything. Delve into the vintage vinyl collection and snuggle up by the fireplace at this character retreat near the breathtaking Shawangunk Ridge. Hike or Bike one of the many trails and then return for a soak in the claw-foot tub.
This is a 200-year-old stone and clapboard house, just one mile outside of New Paltz, an historic and vibrant college town, settled beneath the breathtaking Shawangunk Ridge, just 90 minutes from NYC. The 1807 Stone House was built by our ancestors for tenant farmers and now, after an extensive restoration, provides a very comfortable vacation house full of historic character. The house forms part of a 12-acre property of woods and streams that has been in our family for 10 generations and is also the site of our 1826 Federal style home that is listed on the National Historic Register. The Stone House is very peaceful and private - see the guest reviews for endorsement! The property is adjacent to a 23-mile rail trail, which is an easy hike or bike into town. We have a selection of bikes that you are welcome to borrow. In the late 19th century, the Wallkill Valley Railroad ferried fresh produce and vegetables from the farmlands of Ulster County to the streets of New York City. The railroad may have gone, but the area is still abundant with apple orchards, small independent farms and wineries. There is an organic farm just a 3-minute walk from the property where, in season, one can buy fresh vegetables, artisan breads and local cheese. Accommodation is on three levels, so we would advise against choosing our house if you are elderly or infirm. There are stair gates available for young children if required. The house has a modern zoned heating system that makes for cozy winter visits. In the summer there are AC units in the kitchen, living room and both bedrooms. The house is foam insulated so it is cosy warm in winter and keeps it's cool in summer. At the top are 2 bedrooms, one with a Queen bed and the other with 2 twin beds. The emphasis is on comfort, with ironed linens and plenty of pillows and throws. There is one full bathroom with claw foot tub and rain shower and limitless hot water. There are two living rooms on the second floor; one has white washed stonewalls, with a large gas fired stove set in the original open fireplace. There is a large sofa and armchair, TV for Netflix and DVD with movie selection Please note that there is NO cable TV, but there is fast Wi-Fi connection throughout the house. The other room is full of light and looks out over shrubs, trees and a stream. Stairs lead down to a full kitchen, with wide board maple floor and large open fireplace with propane stove. The kitchen is outfitted with stone countertops, European eye level oven and the basic necessities including a variety of quality cookware, coffee maker and blender. A range of spices, olive oil, coffee and selected teas are provided. The table can seat six and there is also an armchair and window seat. We provide complimentary breakfast items for your first morning. A Dutch door leads out on to a private terrace with picnic table and propane grill. This is a wonderful place to watch the abundant bird life. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. The house sleeps 4. *Please note that on holiday weekends there is a 3 x night minimum stay *We have a strict No smoking and No Pets policy. *We will always try to be flexible on our check in and check out times if we can, so please ask! **Minimum 3 x night stay on holiday weekends**
The house is surrounded by nature, yet just a mile from the vibrant college town of New Paltz. The property is close to a 23-mile rail trail for hiking and biking. We have bikes! The surrounding area is abundant in apple orchards, small independent farms, and wineries.
  • What a wonderful retreat! The cottage is as charming as the hosts. The location is perfect for biking and hiking. I would come back here for an escape from NYC in a heartbeat.

    Yvette2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is incredibly perfect. I had the perfect weekend. The house of comfy and full of character. It had everything you need. Not far from the town and close to beautiful trails. I will definitely be back very soon.

  • This was our fourth visit to this lovely home. We adore everything about it!

    Raquel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I love the wonderful grey floors, white walls and comfy couches and beds. The location overlooking the creek and woods and the visit by the red cardinal is so rural. The road has a dead end so little car traffic. And so close to the rail trail you can walk and admire the Shawangunk Ridge in the distance.

    Dina2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We came to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday the cottage was warm ,cozy and super clean. Our host made sure we had everything we needed. I would come back for sure

    Susan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was certainly one of the nicest airbnb's we have stayed in. Kate and Mark carefully prepared the arrangement of the furniture, amenities and decor in this beautiful home. Not only did they have fresh fruit and brownies when we arrived, but also had fresh bagels, milk, butter and cereal for us. All the rooms and amenities were extremely clean. The house is adorable and spacious for our family of 4. We all loved the record player and the many wonderful books throughout the house. The house was built in the early 1800s and Kate & Mark even have a book that shows pictures of the extreme gut renovation to the house to make it the adorable luxurious farmhouse it is today. Our family and kids loved playing in the creek in the back as well as taking a nice walk on the Walkill river trail that is directly behind the house. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Akhila2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kate and Mark created a beautiful experience that went well above our expectations. Not only did they provide a place with deep historic roots but they combine it with contemporary luxurious and their own eye for style to form an truly unique experience.

    New Paltz, NY, United States

Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen (Note: there is a stovetop but no oven). One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • If you're looking for a peaceful getaway in an immaculately-kept and thoughtfully designed space, the Little Yellow Cottage is where your search ends. The cottage is on a low-traffic road, tucked into plenty of trees and other greenery and faces a clearing with a picnic table. All windows inside the cottage face either the thick of the woods behind the cottage or the clearing in front. At night if you open any window you're met with the subtle sound of crickets and frogs in the distance (exciting for those of us coming from the city). In addition to the spiral staircase (who doesn't love a spiral staircase?), the high ceiling with original beams is another little treasure of the main level. The kitchen below is fully equipped (we cooked dinner all five nights we were there) and the washer + dryer came in handy after days spent hiking/exploring the nearby trails and cliffs. We were not originally familiar with New Paltz, but after one visit to the very cute center of town, we fell in love and made more than one trip to places like The Grazery (local cheese + plant shop) and In Good Taste (local liquor store specializing in wine) for supplies. We even picked up some light reading from a bookstore in town. Overall this place was a treat for us and Justin was a wonderful host. We're looking forward to planning another stay soon!

    Ciana2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent. Just as advertised.

    Tom2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Justin’s cottage is lovely. Plush bedding and cozy bed, super soft towels and bright bathroom, spacious kitchen loaded with all the usuals, and a bug free screened-in porch for coffee or brunch. You’ll need a car or a Lyft to get around, but it’s not too too far from Poughkeepsie and New Paltz. Pack some groceries and some hiking boots and you’ll be set. The only part of the cottage I didn’t love was the fact that it’s right next to a road that surprisingly sees a decent amount of traffic. But if it rains, you’ll be able to hear it on the roof!

    Frank2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED staying at this little cottage! It was sparkling clean like a nicer hotel but was cozier than a hotel could ever be. I would recommend this stay to anyone who is in the area.

    Kira2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I booked our stay for two nights to get away from the city life and celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday as I wanted to bring groceries to cook during the stay. We checking in around 7pm with no problem and Justin had a parking spot available for us. When walking in, we instantly got warm cozy vibes and spot on cleanliness as everything in the cottage looked exactly and matched the pictures posted on the profile. Everything we needed was already included as we didn’t have to ask for any assistance. I was able to cook all my meals with the pots & pans provided including extra amenities which helped during our stay. This is by far my best getaway experience and will absolutely rebook. Thank you Justin for the all hospitality!

    Sonia2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great getaway spot. Tiny and comfy and fun.

    Tron2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Justin's place is so cute! Perfect for a weekend getaway with a significant other. The floors were heated which I thought was awesome! There is a picnic table outside and even a screened in porch. The place was very clean and cozy. There is a stove and microwave (no oven) and TV with cable as well as WiFi. It looks newly renovated and especially homey, you'll love it!

    Sara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute little cabin! Me and my partner just wanted a little get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. This was perfect. The bed was super comfy and the cabin was so nice and cozy. There was so much beautiful sunlight every morning. I work remotely and was able to get all my work done. Justin was super quick to reply when I had issues connecting my laptop and fixed the issue immediately. Highly recommend this spot I wish it would have snowed I'm sure this place is magical when it does.

"Beautiful volumes, perfectly furnished, all very pretty and practical: If I had a piece of land, I could see myself wanting to build a cabin just like this--or rather, ask David to build it!" (excerpt of a guest's review)
Escape from New York to this ultra-modern--yet cozy--two-bedroom eco cottage in the heart of the Hudson Valley in the Village of Rosendale, NY. A car isn't even necessary. From NYC the express bus is 2 stops--1hr. 45 min. from Port Authority. The bus stop is a short walk or arrange a pick-up in advance. I'm a green builder and furniture designer and I created this state-of-the-art cottage for guests. It's outfitted with unique materials, custom-designed furniture and lighting. The spectacular location is an outdoor enthusiast's dream with all indoor comforts--coupled with a short walk to civilization. On the property there are rock cliffs and amazing nature to admire. It's a 5-minute walk to the Mohonk Preserve--a place that The Nature Conservancy calls "one of the last great places on earth." Included in your stay are 2 free day passes to the Mohonk Preserve. This cottage was hand-made to the highest "green" standards and my hope is to inspire you to live comfortably while conserving energy. Accommodations include two bedrooms with plush, queen-sized beds. The modern kitchen includes an induction cooktop and Advantium oven. The spa-like bathroom has a deep-soak tub. Access to the cottage is with a key-code lock and there's wireless internet, Apple TV, and good cell reception. It's a 100-yard walk to the just-renovated, 1000' long, 150' high "Walkway over the Rondout." This historic former train trestle is part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (WVRT) which accesses over 85 continuous miles of hiking, trail running, cycling, and cross-country skiing. Below this trestle is the nearest swimming hole. Enjoy a lovely and scenic riverside stroll to bars, restaurants, and historic movie theater on Main Street--a 5-minute walk from your door. Come experience what it's like to have no indoor air pollution. The cottage was hand-made and finished with virtually zero VOC's (volatile organic compounds). An allergy sufferer's dream: there's no smoke, down feathers, or pet dander of any kind. Fresh, filtered air is exchanged constantly via a heat recovery ventilator (HRV). Rosendale is centrally located to visit international art venues in Storm King and Beacon, The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and other Hudson Valley farm-to-table meccas, and we're sandwiched between historic Kingston and New Paltz. • David’s space was so clean and well appointed. We loved the area and hiking/ restaurant suggestions. David made himself available to us for a later than expected check in and helped us set up the grill late at night so we could enjoy a home cooked meal.

  • This place is charming, beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. David is a gracious host and gave us a warm welcome, and lots of useful tips to explore the neighborhood. We had a wonderful stay!

  • David's place is a dream. He was very communicative, gave us a tour immediately on arrival, and was generally a treat. Being close to the surrounding hikes and towns was great. 15min from Kingston. He built the house himself, and there are so many thoughtful touches that we want to remember for our own future dream home.

It's conveniently located with so much fun stuff to do around the area, and the yurt is so secluded in nature, it felt like a real break from the city. Gisela's personal touches made it even more special. We had a great time and would love to return, it will be beautiful in springtime, I'm sure!

Amazingly beautiful loft house with deck overlooking a large pond with waterfall on 30 acres of land, artists space, relax, play, create or just be, heal, meditate and dream. This is a very special place for you to come into balance within yourself. We disinfect and make sure the space is safe for your visit
For the creative spirit or one that appreciates artistic expression. A healing space. We take great care of making the space safe from any viruses. We disinfect clean and wash after each guests An artist dream loft is filled with light and shapes, color and patterns, -overlooking a beautiful pond with a waterfall, the pond is swimmable and we just added a floating dock for you to swim to. The loft is a large open space with high ceilings, wood floors. A perfect space to explore, dance, yoga or just enjoy the open flow of light reflected from the pond below on my fabric sculptures. It is a very uplifting space and filled with good energy. Facing east there is a large window wall for the morning sunrise and in the west, for the sunset, 3 sets of French doors and 2 windows. The 3 French doors open to a wraparound deck with lounge chair and teak dinning table, chairs and gas grill, overlooking a beautiful pond with a waterfall. There are benches and swings on the land to sit, fire pit to make a fire, seating close to the pond and a bridge over s small stream. There are 2 tables to create, draw, sculpt or write. The house has Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heating. You will find yoga mats and pillows for meditation and many blankets in one of the closets. There is no TV, only nature channel. There are 2 queen size beds, one directly in the open space and one accessible with a ladder as a loft bed above the bathroom. You have to be skilled on ladders to feel comfortable. The futon sofa can be used for sleeping in the main space, it works well for one person, and i keep an inflatable bed in the closed. The bathroom has a large shower. Most of the cleaning supplies are environmentally friendly, the soaps organic and I left you some treats here and there. There is coffee maker, toaster, espresso maker, mixer, all you could need for dishes or cookware, the cookware is stainless steel, I tried to think of everything to make your stay meaningful and comfortable and if I forgot something please let me know! The mattresses and linens are super comfortable. The electricity is all solar. The artist dream loft is part of 3 buildings on 30 acres of land with 2 ponds, you can hike through the forest to a totally secluded second pond with a dock for swimming access. This pond has an island. The land is beautiful. I am a beekeeper so there will be honeybees. There is a small orchard in front of the studio with fruit trees. You can park in front of the house. You are just between New Paltz and Kingston, a very central location not far from Woodstock or Rhinebeck. Hiking, swimming, playing and resting, or just being, creating a new project, or healing from a crazy life, it's a good space for all of it. I make my own remedies from plants in my garden, I have put some of them in the loft for you, my hope is that you take advantage of the healing potential that the space has to offer. I live in one of the 3 buildings the first one, painted orange, the second building is a green barn that a friend of mine lives in and then last, is the dream loft. The loft is about 1300 square feet in size and has its own privat outside sitting area with hammocks and fire pit. You are totally in your own world. I keep bee's and horses you will see them and many wild deer, turkeys, hummingbirds and fireflies... If you bring your pet there is a $35 fee , if you are more than 4 people I will charge a daily fee for the extra people please let me know before hand thank you thank you

The loft is perfect for some nature, kitchen was stocked thoughtfully for pretty much any meal you'd want to make, space is comfy and renewing. We'd definitely come back.

  • Gisela & her place are spectacular! As is her land, horses and her puppy:) Gisela’s Art makes the space magical & unique and the space and land is beaming with beautiful warm energy. We had such a wonderful stay and stayed in more then planned because the space was so inviting and relaxing. Her place was spotless and everything we needed was provided. The land is stunning, quiet and peaceful. Wonderful to take a stroll and I can’t imagine how much more amazing the stay would be in warmer months! There is a fire pit which we thoroughly enjoyed and the location is close to Kingston, Woodstock, New Paltz & Rhinbeck. A car is a must though if staying here. Gisela was super responsive and sweet and we are looking so forward to staying here again!

  • Great for a getaway. I did a silent retreat and had everything I needed to meditate multiple hours a day and not leave. Not sure that's everyones cup of tea, but was what I needed!

  • Beautiful spot between a pond and a horse paddock. Close to the city, but feels very country. Gisela is an attentive and kind host, and her art makes the space very unique.

    Nathan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gisela’s space had thoughtful touches all around. She left us cozy socks to wear when it got chilly and honey and herbs to use. Even though it was cold outside, Gisela’s studio had more than enough heat to keep us warm. We loved sleeping among the sails and column lights. I only wish we’d come when it was warmer out so we could have enjoyed the lovely deck and yard. We’ll be back!

    Julia2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Gisela's loft was a dream come true. It is filled with her beautiful art and every inch was designed with intention. The property itself is located next to two beautiful ponds and there is a lot of area to enjoy nature and privacy at the same time. The space had everything we needed, the kitchen was filled with cooking necessities, Gisela even left us pasta and sauce to make (which was delicious), the beds were comfortable, the speakers worked as expected, yoga mats were provided for our use, horses on the property for us to admire, and wood was collected and left in the fire pit for us to burn. We would be honored to stay here again and I will recommend this home to all of my friends looking to make life long memories and enjoy the peaceful outdoors as Gisela's place is perfect for this.

    Nikki2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

  • This home is what most AirBnB’s aspire to be! The house is even more beautiful than the pictures. It has a great open layout, insanely soft and comfortable rugs and couches, beds that are like sleeping on clouds, and it’s been impeccably decorated. The kitchen is stocked with anything and everything you’ll need to cook, and the bathrooms are large and spa-like! Great home for families, as my little ones loved dancing to the records on the record player and my dog loved walking along the stunning stream just downhill behind the house. It was such a fantastic house we barely left! I could not recommend this home highly enough for anyone looking for a trip out to the Hudson valley/Catskill area- it doesn’t get bette than this!

We provide towels and linens, plus basic kitchen supplies, spices, tin foil, cooking oil, etc. Firewood is available at local grocery and Stewarts stores. We also recommend buying a bag of ice, since we do not have an automatic icemaker. The basement rec room is unfinished when compared to the upstairs, it is kind of like a second apartment rental for the kids to take over. It has a full bath, twin bunk bed, futon bed a kid sized pool table, Ping Pong, and foosball table, Dart Board and Smart TV. Please realize the basement at this point is unfinished, meaning it has painted concrete floors and walls, same for the basement bathroom. It is a country basement, very cool and rustic. If your guests expect the "W" or "Hilton" hotel-please don't ask them to stay in our basement. It's just a place to crash with beds, couch and futon couch. The upstairs of the house has 3 bedrooms, ADA bath, kitchen, wood fireplace, dining room, and kitchen couch for hanging with the chefs. Please note the third bed room upstairs is for parties of 7 or more. there is an additional guest fee for each person over 6. The wood deck is off the porch on your way down into the yard which is a whole landscaped playground in itself. pergola fire pit for hanging out or wood fired bbq. There is a boat house with kayaks and life jackets. Property has a dock and both a wooden and stone deck on the lake shore, creating both opportunities for sunning and watching your friends as they boat away exploring the many coves and excellent fishing. We live nearby in New Paltz, so if anything should arise we are 5 minutes away. There is a code box on the front door for your entry and solar lights to light the walkway at night. Part of the basement is our maintenance workshop for the property. If you have an extended stay we might get to share a little coffee or tea and chat while we work on maintaining the property. Everything in the Hudson Valley is nearby. We have parking in the driveway for 6 cars, and other 6 on the lawn as needed to special events. There are bus lines into Kingston and New Paltz from which you could catch a cab to the house. It is off of Rte. 32 if coming from New Paltz or Rosendale. Renters assume all risks associated with kayaking, swimming and water sports.
Everything in the Hudson Valley is nearby. We have parking in the driveway for 6 cars, plus six in yard for special events. It is a residential street so we ask for outdoor quiet after 10 pm.
  • We loved our stay at this lovely home. It was perfectly set up for our family of five, with two parents in the master bedroom and all three kids in the spacious room next door (there are many, many places to sleep though! This could easily house a much larger crowd). The kitchen was better stocked than most AirBnBs, which I very much appreciated as we tend to cook most of our meals at home even while traveling. Our sweet hosts left many thoughtful touches such as coloring books for the kids and dog bowls for our pup. Beds were super comfortable. There are puzzles and games in addition to a pool table, foosball table, and dart board, which we very much appreciated. We didn’t get much use of the porch as it was cold but we did enjoy a few morning coffees with a blanket out there and it was wonderful. The house is not isolated - neighbors are pretty close by — but it was peaceful nonetheless. So many frogs and birds to listen to! We loved kayaking and fishing even though it was chilly. There are many, many wonderful hiking trails close by. It was lovely to come home and hang by the fire after long hikes. This was a perfect week away from the city. We hope to return someday when it’s warm enough to swim! Thanks so much!

Just listed! One of two beautifully appointed loft apartments in a 19th century Barn Hayloft! Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only 10 minutes from New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station! And book the South Hayloft here https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/41910407 to sleep a total of 10 guests!
This 19th century barn has been lovingly restored to it's former glory and is ready for you to arrive for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Walk up to the second level and you'll find all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including AC, TV, wi-fi and washer dryer. One queen bed sleeps two in the master bedroom, one single bed is in the second bedroom and one sofa queen bed sleeps two in the living room. And the postal code may say Highland, but the 19th Century Restored Hayloft North is really in New Paltz!
  • Very peaceful and beautiful. Surprisingly clean and modern. A lot of open space. Cute barn. Nice getaway from the city. A bit smaller than I thought; duplex house; can sometimes hear guests next door. Bonus: Get to see some chickens running around the neighborhood 😍

  • Great communication and beautiful interior.

  • Had a fantastic time at the North Hayloft. Incredibly clean, thoughtful touches and wonderful location in the Hudson Valley. Hope to return!

    Reed2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend the location. All needed for a full kitchen was available and easily accessible. Actually cooked 3 full meals. I was a bit scared we'd be cold since it was 23 degrees but with each room having it's own unit, we were all very comfortable. Everything was labeled and easy to follow. What you see is what you get. Absolutely, no misrepresentation.

  • I came from NJ to immerse myself in some work and get outside of my home office as I work remotely. Justin's place was right outside New Paltz - 10-12 mins to town for coffee and shops, a few trails for walks, and all the shopping you can imagine. The space was immaculately clean, super quiet and I loved the windows, and all the natural light. Bed super comfy. Shower hot. WiFi golden. Great little kitchen area as I cooked all my meals in. AND laundry, which was a huge bonus! There are stairs to get up to the space so that should be noted if you have a handicap situation. It has two bedrooms, one small bed, one large, so great for a friend or if your spouse is snoring ;) Price wise was a little steep for what I usually pay but it was in the range of places I was looking and he was already a super host so I trusted airbnb judgement, they did not disappoint! Highly recommended!

Welcome to our cozy, modern 1 bedroom cottage. The house is clean and airy with vaulted ceilings in the main room and large windows looking out over the rock ledge and yard in back. Great for visitors to the area who want some peace and privacy but also the ability to walk to town, Trailways bus stop, and the rail trail. **Women's Studio Workshop discount! **We may be able to accommodate a 1-night rental, especially if it is close to your desired arrival date. Please Inquire!
*This is a comfortable retreat for a single or couple, but it could work for a person with a child or a close friend who doesn't mind sleeping on the small pull out couch in the living room. *There is no TV in the house, but there is solid, high-speed wireless internet.
Rosendale is a small, cool town with a charming, low key Main Street full of independent businesses and creative spirit. 6 uniquely different restaurants right in town, a bakery, a great bookstore and library, farmer's market, single screen first run indy movie theater, an apothecary, and other shops (see guidebooks for more details). Our house is just outside the village, but walking distance to town. Good for a car-free weekend too! If you like, the bicycle rental shop directly next door to the bus stop on rt 32 could enable you to ride to Kingston (8 miles) or New Paltz (7 miles) along the rail trail, past abandoned mines and a trailside cafe, over the trestle and through the woods. Rosendale is an outstanding home base for area excursions - near the "Gunks" and Mohonk Mountain preserve for hiking/climbing and central to New Paltz, Kingston, High Falls, Stone Ridge and other local towns and activities.
  • Our stay at Emily was perfect. The place is incredibly nice, clean and close to all the main hikes you can do in the area. Restaurants and shops are 5' away and the house is immersed in the green. Emily has been helpful and very responsive throughout the stay. Definitely recommended.

    Nicholas2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The house was spotless and cozy in a great location. Lots of thoughtful touches. Great place to stay.

  • Emily's cottage was lovely. It has an updated kitchen with great appliances and space to cook all of your meals. It was also super clean. We had a lovely weekend just relaxing in nature and checking out the local towns. I would definitely recommend.

  • We've stayed multiple times at this sweet cottage and it's always a great trip. Clean, comfy, great communication and hospitality - awesome! A short trip to trails and great sights and restaurants in the Hudson River Valley. We'll be back!

  • This was a wonderful stay for getting out of the chaos of the city and slowing down. Very cute little cottage, decorated well and immaculately clean. Emily was immediately responsive and we found her Rosendale guide helpful. As others have noted, road noise can be heard but seems not a bad trade off for the convenient location.

    Lindsay2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • No frills, but cozy comfortable cabin. Lovely stay. Emily was a friendly and responsive host

    Bob2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's place was great. The home offers all the amenities and is very stylish. The location allowed us to walk into Rosendale for dinner and drinks. The only downside to this property is the close proximity to the road.

  • If you’re looking for a sterile, cookie cutter hotel type atmosphere, this is not the place for you!!! If you’re looking for a comfortable space, with unbelievable views, a kitchen with everything you need, stay at Mark’s place. We loved it here and would love to return again!

    Marshall And Cathy2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was very receptive to my questions. Easy house to manage. Two bedrooms on first floor and one up a ladder in a loft. Must be able and willing to climb a ladder. View front and back is beautiful!

    Monica2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful lakeside retreat!!! We could see the lake from three sides of the house! It was so quiet and peaceful, especially sitting down in the Adirondack chairs by the lake with morning coffee. Such a cozy, eclectic house... Perfect for our stay! We actually wish we could have spent more time in the home, as we were basically using it as a home base while we explored the Hudson River Valley. Checking in and out was effortless and communication with the host was almost immediate! The house met all our needs and more! Beds were comfy, it was very clean, and we had more than enough bathrooms, towels, pillows, etc! Would definitely stay there again.

    Melissa2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely cottage and truly a wonderful place to get away with some friends. It has the perfect amount of gathering spaces and private spaces (basically a w/c for every bedroom) so that different guests can enjoy it separately or together. There is great outdoor space and access including kayaks for guests and nice Adirondack chairs to enjoy the water views from the peninsula. That peninsula aspect also makes it a very quiet place to stay just slightly away from the main road but also easily accessible to activities in the area. Mark recommended great activities and is wonderfully responsive to all requests. We went hiking several times, out to dinner in a nearby town and also checked out local attractions and were able to get to everywhere in nearly 20 minutes. The kitchen is stocked with many tools/amenities so we were able to prepare all meals without bringing all the essentials. Would love to come back and visit again. Thanks for everything Mark!!

  • Jim and Jill’s place is a beautiful home in a beautiful location - right on the river, and very accessible to the rest of town / the various parks and trails nearby. They were gracious hosts, and the place has great amenities.

  • Fantastic stay— quiet spot with an amazing view, and the house is very clean, modern, and well equipped. Hosts were as responsive as you can ask for. Would stay there again for sure!

  • The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed to feel “at home” for the weekend. The host was quick to respond and his instructions to get there and get in were clear and easy. The windows overlooking the water was breathtaking and helped us relax. This Airbnb is perfect for anyone, but especially people who live in NYC and want to escape into nature with modern day amenities. I would definitely go back.

  • Fantastic getaway spot ! Cottage was modern, with crisp white walls and linens ...leaving nothing to obstruct it’s picturesque view .

    Eric2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A completely wonderful place for a few days' retreat. Easy without a car, too – the taxi ride from Poughkeepsie was brief, and hiking trails are a short distance from the front door. As for the passing trains, speaking as someone who *does* get irritable about noisy neighbors etc, they were fine. Atmospheric, even. Highly recommended.

    Oliver2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jim and Jill's cottage. We initially planned to visit the nearby historic sites but the river was so relaxing and peaceful that we sat on the deck the whole time watching the trains, the boats the ducks and the otters. The provided binoculars was a nice choice and the WiFi was good. The accommodation itself was spotless and although minimalistic.. every detail was thought of. The hosts were excellent with communication and the check-in process was simple and fast. We highly recommend this trip and cannot wait to come back in the summer or fall. 😊

This is a very special place for a select few. Those who can appreciate the following. Only inquire if you like : quiet, space, nature, fresh air and a cozy intimate space. This space is not for everyone but those who visit reflect the very special charm of the space. If you are seeking to party then bypass this listing. If you are seeking peace we welcome you. Since we have other guests on the property please respect them. We asking you to not to be too loud between 10pm-8am. Thank you.
Super clean and comfortable private studio apartment on the border of Mohonk Preserve.
Place is located at Mohonk Mt, walking distance to trails. Very close to Mohonk Mountain house ( 2 min to Entrance ), 5 min driving to downtown New Paltz. Another word great location. Quiet and safe neighborhood.
  • The studio was absolutely perfect for our needs. We mainly came to hike at Mohonk and see the town of New Paltz after hearing great things about both. The studio was ideally located for just that. Arek was a great host, easy to communicate with and accommodating, while also giving us our privacy. The place had all the essentials, and you can tell he's put a great deal of thought to accommodate guests. I will definitely consider staying here again!

    Alisa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

  • Arek's place was cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway. It is close to Mohonk and New Paltz downtown. We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Michelle2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Arek’s home is one for the books. The architecture and decor of his quaint and rustic-chic studio was so unique and comfortable. Everything was perfectly clean and accessible. It’s an absolutely ideal place to stay with a friend or partner. His lovely mother greeted us as soon as we arrived and offered us an extra tote bag to store our belongings. The location was awesome - so close to everything you’d want to explore in New Paltz. Whenever we had a question Arek responded right away. He offered us information about things to see and explore. Overall this was an A+ experience. Thanks for everything, Arek!

    Alexa2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The space is perfect and secluded. Close to Mohonk, not even 15 minutes, even less to get into New Paltz. The studio was spotless, a little smaller than expected, but that was hardly a negative. Highly recommended, would absolutely stay here again.

    Crystal2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • a perfectly comfortable and functional studio space. lovely outdoor cafe table for enjoying coffee or dinner. would definitely recommend to anyone looking to be close to all the outdoor activities new paltz area has to offer. feels like you’re sleeping in a cozy tree house! arek was an extremely thoughtful and accommodating host.

Super cozy nook with rough handmade wood accents over art studio. Surrounded by trees, overlooking a field and horse barn deep in the forest. Clean and simple. Two comfortable rooms up steep stairs make for a great tree-house feel. The kitchen is rough but everything is clean and works. There's a toilet and sink upstairs and shower downstairs. Its one of my favorite places to be. Hope you enjoy!
Everything about this place is unique. If you want a rough deep in the woods experience this is your spot.
Your way out in the woods, but there are people around who work there and we have regular events for children and workshops for adults so you may see people in the woods. Rosendale is 5 minutes away and a total secret gem. New Paltz is better known with more shopping options. Both have great restaurants and Rosendale has a great independent movie theater operated by the town.
  • Excellent choice for a weekend anyway from the city and the suburbs. Cozy, quiet cabin, just 10-15 minutes away from main streets in New Paltz and High Falls. We loved it in the winter, could tell it must also be a real gem in warmer months.

    Gabrielle2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, well put together and in an awesome location. Good hikes on the land and the space is nice and cozy!

    Ian2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gwyn, Robin and Stephen go above and beyond for their guest and the farm is a home away from home for us in a time of need. Plenty of things to do and see while staying and our Pup has been having just as much fun.

    Bill2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice hosts, beautiful property with an adorable dog, friendly horses I fed carrots to, a fun pack of chickens. The town was really nice with some great eateries and excellent antique shops. We definitely got a wonderful country experience, and the house was sunny and cozy. I was able to watch a family of deer from the sitting room and also the horses. We're definitely planning on coming back!

    Kat2017-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts, incredible location, perfect for a peaceful retreat from the stresses of city life.

    Katie2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a place of respite and I got it. I feel blessed and recharged, and it was easy to check in and out. Everyone was helpful when needed and unobtrusive when not. I will say the drive to the house would have been impossible without all-wheel drive but our C-RV did fine. It had snowed 2-feet two days before we arrived. Typical March unpredictability--I've been there in Spring, Summer and late Summer...it was interesting being there in late winter/early spring. I know it's even more beautiful the rest of the year. It's rustic, secluded, good for nature and farm lovers. If you want a sterile nature-free environment this isn't the right place. If you love camping, hiking, animals, lots of green, a place quiet enough to hear the trees whispering and the breeze calling your name, this is for you.

    Criss2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a fantastic getaway and the term ' cozy nook' describes it well. Robin and Stephan were wonderful hosts and we felt very welcomed and comfortable. My kids loved the place too. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend!

    Jan2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was wonderful! The space was warm, comfortable, had tons of natural light, and full of beautiful art to enjoy. Our hosts were so welcoming and accommodating. We came here in late January and the wood stove kept us so toasty and cozy. There are even trails and a waterfall to enjoy right off the property. We can't wait to come back.

  • Wonderful cozy one room cabin with all your minor necessities. It was so perfect for my fiancé and I to get away and be isolated together, especially through these crazy times! The hot tub was an extra bonus! Very large, very clean, but attached to the owners property. We still went in every night and they made us feel comfortable and respected our privacy. Wonderful hosts, very hospitable! We’ll definitely be back!

  • Our favorite place in the Catskills yet! Highly recommended! Judy was very helpful & replied quickly, although they provided everything we could have wanted AND some in the cottage already so we didn't really have any questions about the place. (Including a complimentary bottle of vino, so lovely.) We asked about hiking & she sent a plethora of info. Close to main road & town so location is convenient, but zero traffic sounds & still a getaway in the woods. Hot tub was the highlight. We cooked all our meals in the cottage. The kitchenette is well equipped! Heat & hot water worked great & we were cozy in the chilly weather. Comfy bed, hard to get motivated to get up & we didn't want to leave. We stayed through daylight savings, so we appreciated a little flexibility at checkout since we lost an hour. Will definitely be checking availability here the next time we need respite from the city.

The room is designed well, very new and has a nice view of the back yard. The bed was very comfortable as well. Snacks were a definite plus and overall a great value for this location.

Situated 9 miles from either New Paltz and Kingson, NY, . Two bedroom, 1 bath, eat in kitchen, woodburning stove, BBQ, pet friendly. Very close to Mohonk, and other hiking and skiing areas. For the winter months only - January - March 2018, this is available for a minimum 30 days at a time.
I am a collector of antiques with a love of all things 50's. Most everything in the house is for sale, so you can do your antiquing in the comfort of the house.
The fact that the house is midway between New Paltz and Kingston makes it very appealing. You can go to either place and have some great local experiences.
  • We had a great stay at Iris' home! She made it very easy to have a late check-in, it was a lovely space in lovely woods close to many beautiful places. Would definitely stay again!

  • Conveniently located to the Hudson Valley area. Serene environment, cool retro vibes, lots of books! Great place to stay!

  • Iris was so helpful and considerate, she even arranged some fresh food from the farm for us! The house is as described, and the backyard hammock and table were such a treat for breakfast and afternoon hanging!

Just outside of New Paltz, the cottage is 400 square feet, plus loft area, in addition to a 120-square-foot (winterized) screened-in porch with bistro table and additional relaxation spots. The main room hosts a double-size, comfortable futon couch, a dining table for four or more, a fully equipped kitchen providing all the basic amenities. The loft (up a ladder) hosts a super-comfy queen-sized bed. There is a small stone patio with an outdoor dining table with umbrella and a barbeque grill.
Come listen to the crickets and cicadas as you relax in our screened-in porch or out-door patio. Our rustic, stand-alone cottage has been continuously rented as the “the little red cottage in the woods” by several long-term tenants since 2001. We’re making it available on Airbnb now: it’s a gem in a quiet forest and close to many wonderful local attractions and events. It’s the perfect place for anyone in search of a romantic getaway, a writer’s retreat, or a few people looking for a cozy and affordable place for a restful night's sleep in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley. We are within twenty minutes of New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Highland, Rosendale, and Kingston—thus proximate to all mid-Hudson Valley attractions—close enough to get those destinations quickly, but far enough away to find a place to relax in nature. Neighborhood attractions include John Burroughs Slabsides and Nature Preserve, Shaupeneak Park and Louisa Pond, Black Creek Preserve. Nearby attractions: Walkway Over the Hudson, The Gunks, Mohonk Preserve, Minnewaska, Culinary Institute, Woodstock, New Paltz, Vassar College, Marist College. Popular local events: Woodstock/New Paltz Arts & Crafts Fair, Woodstock Film Festival, Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival. Attending a wedding at Red Maple Vineyard? We’re a seven-minute drive away. Our cottage is a bit quirky. Though we keep our indoor space clean, we are still in the woods and there are bugs and critters. We warn all of our renters about Lyme disease and taking precautions in the woods. There’s only one small silverware drawer that seems to have been added as an afterthought when the cottage was built, decades ago. We also recently installed a new kitchen counter and sink. My husband and I thought it would be best to opt for more counter space and put in a small sink, but please note that it verges on comically tiny. (We might change this soon.) We hope you will be understanding of these little quirks and come to love the unique charm of our cottage as much as we do!

  • What a great little spot! Amazing location (close to New Paltz, Rosendale, & Kingston). The cottage is super charming and is the right amount of rustic/cozy. Great for outdoor folks and for a getaway with a few friends. Nice property and great hosts. Highly recommend!

  • Can't say enough good things about this cabin. A perfect little space for a getaway with my partner - big enough to have space to walk around and stretch but small enough to stay cozy and warm. Kitchen is well stocked, porch is so nice to sit on, and best of all, they have the game Dutch Blitz! Would definitely return.

    Taylor2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an amazing escape we had to this lovely little cottage in the woods. These thoughtful hosts had lovely amenities, plenty of room to cook, and a warm cozy place to spend time with nature. We will definitely be back! The loft is so fun and the tall ceilings really make the space special. We woke up on our last day to have had a light snow outside and easily could've stayed another week if our work schedules hadn’t made us come back to the city! Can’t wait to come back in spring!

Come, get away from the craziness of life, calm your body, clear your mind and channel your energy by staying at a very special little gem. Once you arrive you won't want to leave. A newly renovated cozy cottage, where you won't believe your view when you wake up in the morning with your first cup of tea or coffee overlooking the best spot in this area from the deck. A perfect getaway on almost 5 acres of creek frontage to find your inner peace.
Your body and mind will relax from the first minute you are here. Do your morning Yoga on your own sandy beach, swim, kayak, go fishing, watch wildlife from the tree house, chill with a good book on lounge chairs, cozy up with drinks while having a camp fire. Private, though an ideal location to start exploring the bounty of the Hudson Valley. A short distance to Kingston, Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Hudson, ... and everything these places and this great area has to offer. Recently renovated, I detailed the cottage with a lot of unique flea market finds and custom made elements to make you feel immediately at ease and inspire you to be mindful. Everything, except the comfortable bed, induction cook top and the state-of-the-art (literally) AC, Heating and Dehumidifier unit, is lovingly repurposed, restored or 'up-cycled'. The bath has a shower (sorry no bathtub) and the small kitchen includes a 2-burner induction cook top and all the necessities to make breakfast or have a simple dinner. Cozy, even on a rainy day, the cottage has all the basics for you to enjoy your stay. There is WiFi but, sorry, no TV. I hope that you won't miss it with the ever changing view and amazing nature. The open floor plan provides up close views of the creek from the sunny deck, kitchen, dining table and the bed. Coffee is truly special when you wake up to a constantly changing view on the creek and it's wildlife. If you are lucky you will see a bald eagle go for a fish that jumps with a splash. My unique property is an outdoors enthusiast's dream. Take a walk down to the creek where you have approximately 1,000' of the famous Rondout tow path to stroll along to find rock formations, your own private beach with lounge chairs, a tree house with fire pit and a kayak launch. This is a perfect property to escape New York City and connect with nature. You won't want to leave!
Just 91 miles (146 km) North of New York City we are located in the middle of the beautiful Hudson Valley near the town of Rosendale, a small town with a historic movie theater and the just renovated 1000' long and 150' high "Walkway over the Rondout". This historic former train trestle is part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail which accesses over 85 continuous miles of hiking, trail running, cross or mountain cycling, and cross-country skiing. Visit the caves of the historic Snyder Estate or enjoy a stroll along the scenic river to bars and restaurants. We are also just minutes from the restaurants and shops in Kingston, NY's first capital, with many of the older buildings being part of three historic districts, such as the Stockade District uptown, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout Strand Historic District downtown where the Rondout Creek flows into the Hudson River. Only 30 min from Woodstock, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck or Bard's campus and 45 minutes north to The Olana Estate near Hudson with all his antique shops, there is plenty to explore and enjoy. Visit international art venues in Beacon or Storm King, watch a concert at Bethel Woods, the original site of the famous Woodstock Festival in 69, or have dinner at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and other 'Foody' destinations.
  • I highly recommend this cottage it is a hidden jewel in the Hudson valley. Mario was a most hospitable host that recommended the best places to see, eat and hike. Definitely book this place it makes for a very memorable experience. Thank you Mario and Ziggy.

    Helen2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Blue Jay cottage is the perfect upstate escape. Mario and Ziggy are wonderful hosts and the cottage is an idyllic space with a picturesque view of the creek. Communication and check in were a breeze, the cottage is clean, aesthetically pleasing and in a fabulous location. Our tiny furry friend also enjoyed her stay and its a perfect place if you have a little pup. Lots of land to explore and though we were here on an off season, I can only imagine how magical it is in the summer and especially the fall!

    Hilary2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at the blue jay cottage for two nights and had a wonderful experience! The cottage, the view, the area and Mario’s recommendations were spot on. It was a perfect weekend get away from the city. Mario and Ziggy are excellent hosts. I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for a similar experience.

    Harshit2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Look no further for your next upper Hudson valley getaway! Our stay at the blue cottage was lovely and Mario provided the best recommendations. The space is so well decorated and cozy. We definitely hope to return in the summer or fall and check out what else Kingston has to offer. 100% recommend.

  • One of the best Air BnBs we've stayed in. Definitely take advantage of Mario's great suggestions - frozen Lake Minnewaska was beautiful in the winter and The Alternative Baker's egg focaccia was life changing.

    Justin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mario is an amazing host and The Blue Jay Cottage is nothing less than great. Situated at the top of a hill overlooking a lake, hearing bird calls while drinking coffee in the morning is the perfect way to start the day. The cottage is quaint and well designed. Mario is quick to communicate, super friendly and open to giving suggestions and pointers for the area in terms of nature, cuisine and history. It’s close to a lot of beautiful things to see like Awosting Falls, Lake Minnewaska, and Mohonk Preserve. Overall great trip. Do yourself a favor and stay here longer than you originally plan for. You won’t be disappointed.

    Todd2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mario’s food suggestions are on point. The egg focaccia sandwich from Alternative Baker is great and dog friendly too. Mario also told us a mini history of Rosendale and the area which made us appreciate the quaintness of the town more. Our time was too short and wished we stayed longer to explore more hikes and trails. Pebbles loved the space and enjoyed all the running space by the creek. The cabin is perfectly cozy and we didn’t feel cold or drafty even on the coldest night. The cabin faces the east so it was nice to see the morning light go over the creek.

    Lisa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific cottage with an absolutely stunning view of the water. Quiet and peaceful. Mario is an excellent host as well- warm and welcoming, and he offers lots of local tips for things to do and places to go. Highly recommended!

This is a one room cottage set up as simply a place to sleep, work or unwind. Located right in town but tucked in the back of the lot. Full size bed, a desk, a water cooler, mini fridge and outdoor shower in the back. Think of it as glamping right in town. Cook on the grill, eat outside, lay in the hammock under the stars. No kitchen to fuss with, just your adorable cottage room.
This is a tiny cottage with heat, AC, internet. The bathroom is in a separate building. No kitchen to fuss with but no need since there are so many great places to dine within walking distance. There is an outdoor shower behind the cottage and a toilet and sink in the Main House. There is also a washer and dryer that you may use in the Main House. There is a dresser, a corner cupboard and a cedar chest for storage.
The historic hamlet of Stone Ridge has a population of about 2,000 people. Stone Ridge's Main Street, where we are located, is Route 209, and you'll find stone structures and gorgeous farmhouses, many built in the 18th and 19th centuries, along your drive through town. Route 209 runs north to Kingston (about a 20 minute drive) and South to Ellenville (about 25 minutes), and it also intersects with Route 213 right in the center of town. Stone Ridge is just 20 minutes to exit 18 on the Route 87 thruway. The hamlet, which is part of the larger town of Marbletown, is in the Hudson Valley, with lots of farmland and orchards nearby (check out Stone Ridge Orchard in the fall for pick your own apples), but the Catskills, the Ashokan Reservoir, and the Shawangunks are just a few minutes away. Locals shop on route 209 at Emmanuel's Market for groceries and household basics, and the local farmstand Davenport Farms offers the best local produce, meats, baked goods. There's also the locally owned Marbletown Hardware (the World's Only Rock and Roll Hardware Store, complete with mini museum) right in town. MAMA is located in Stone Ridge and offers adult exercise classes, camps and activities for kids, and hosts many community meetings. The last few years have seen the introduction of several new restaurants to Stone Ridge as well as the continued flourishing of old favorites. The Hasbrouck House, built in 1757, was recently reopened as a luxury inn and dining destination with its restaurant Butterfield. Asia serves contemporary pan-Asian food while Momiji offers sushi and a Japanese grill. HASH serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch all day, and The Roost is a consistent favorite that does lunch and dinner.
  • We loved our stay at Deborah’s place. Perfect for a weekend getaway from NYC and really close to a lot of great hikes and cute towns. Walking distance from great restaurants. The outdoor shower was an awesome added bonus and the cottage was very clean! Also- Deborah was so responsive and easy to communicate with. She provided help and tips to make our stay as enjoyable as possible! If I want another weekend getaway, we will definitely be back!

  • Very clean, and easy to get to! Everything I needed. LOVED the outdoor shower! Thank you!!

    Cassiopeia2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Back Cottage was a lovely, secluded space to relax and unwind, and to serve as a springboard to lots of nearby activities. I was a bit concerned at first, since I usually enjoy cooking breakfast on vacation, but Deborah had all of a (small) fridge, a toaster oven, a microwave and a plug-in burner available in the cottage, as well as her new barbecue grill on the deck. So breakfast was covered, in more ways than one. The bed was comfortable, and the outdoor shower was great too (you just have to wait a minute for the hot water to reach it). Besides all of that, Deborah was very friendly and always reachable in real-time by phone call, text, or in person, for any questions I had. And I ended up having a lot of questions, relating to my interests in bicycling, dining, and exploring new areas nearby, having only been familiar with New Paltz and Rosendale. She introduced me to a new favorite rail trail (the O&W), a new fun town (Rhinebeck), and some new nearby restaurants (including the Hasbrouck House). I had a great stay at Deborah's cottage, and will definitely return, when time permits!

This fully-furnished, country studio sits on a farm with drop-dead views of the Gunks. It is minutes from Mohonk, Minnewaska, and Peterskill Trailheads and all the fun things to do outdoors like hiking, rock climbing, swimming, biking, bird watching, rock scrambling, skiing, snow-shoeing, etc. Hike early and often. Then enjoy the Mountain Brauhaus or one of many restaurants/bars/wineries in New Paltz and Gardiner (5-6 miles away). For those inclined, enjoy great art and history nearby, too.
Seven windows on three sides offer great natural light to this second floor studio. Inside, there is a queen bed, a cozy couch, a kitchen equipped with a gas stove & oven, and an expandable dining table if want to make more of a work space. There is a smart, flat-screen television, cable, and wifi. The bathroom has a full bath and shower Guests will appreciate easy parking just outside the studio and for longer stays, the shared laundry/dryer facility. Guests will also enjoy hiking the carriage trails on the farm, meeting the horses, ponies, and two donkeys. During the winter, the house is heated geothermally and in the summer, it is cooled the same way. The farm has solar panelling to reduce the energy footprint and we appreciate guests' efforts to recycle.
New Paltz is the best...especially for those of us who love the outdoors, good food, and the culture inspired by all of the nearby colleges, Hudson Valley artists, history, and agriculture. The studio is a ten-minute drive to New Paltz and to Gardiner.
  • This place is so beautiful and I highly recommend it. Host is extremely kind and the horses/donkeys are so cute. Beautiful views of mountains right out your window, also peaceful and quiet. Feels like home

  • We had a perfect weekend out of the city in this beautiful apartment. It was clean, cozy and it was such a treat to be starting so close to so many beautiful animals! Super close to Main Street and Tom and Julie gave us amazing tips on where to go and what to do! Highly recommended.

    Samantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stunningly beautiful vistas and a comfortable, homey studio provided a deliciously peaceful and relaxing getaway. Tom and Julie were warm and friendly hosts, who went above and beyond with tips, and who were very quick to respond to questions. I suffered a minor medical emergency during my stay, and they were compassionate and generous in their help - lovely people! I'm already looking forward to returning!

  • We loved our stay at La Luna farm. The studio was wonderfully decorated, had excellent natural lighting, and overall felt very comfortable and homey. We look forward to potentially renting from Tom & Julie again in the future!

  • The little red schoolhouse studio space was just right for us. It was spotless, peaceful, cozy and comfy. We were really happy to meet the horses and have a warm spot during a big snowstorm close to lovely New Paltz. Thank you Tom and Julie!

  • My stay at Tom and Julies place was great. The place is exactly as pictured, very comfortable and clean. They were great with communication and provided great local tips. If I ever came back to the area I would stay here again!

We accidentally locked ourselves out in the middle of the night and Tom was so sweet and gracious and woke up to help us back in. The farm itself has gorgeous views and all the animals are beautiful. The apartment itself was the sweetest, cleanest place as well. We will definitely be back!!

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (brand new shower), one bedroom with a queen bed and a sleeper sofa, TV (uses fire stick, wifi, no cable). Seasonal sites: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar & SUNY Colleges, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
This Suite is not a separate building, it is the downstairs of our house but is totally independent, with it's own entrance, kitchen, bedroom and shower. We are unique also because we live in a rural setting, yet are within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, and we are 10 minutes from the train to NYC.
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • We enjoyed our time at Kathen's place and loved exploring all the outdoor activities a quick drive away

    Alex2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time staying at Kits home and it did not disappoint. Our weekend getaway was perfect and Kits place had everything we needed! HIGHLY RECOMMEND if traveling to New Paltz!

    Ivette2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kathen's place is a comfortable, quiet getaway that was perfect for us. Communication is easy and friendly. There are plenty of amenities (stocked cupboards and fridge, shampoo, games, local information, etc). We hope to be back again sometime.

    Deb2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark were excellent hosts and very personable. Their communication was great from start to finish, from providing details/descriptions throughout the space to giving recommendations on local spots and things to do in the area. The space was neat and comfortable, and they provided more than enough amenities to make the stay enjoyable. We visited in the month of March, so the following might not apply at other times of the year: Since it is a basement suite, the temperature is a bit cooler. While there is a separate heating control, when it kicks in, the basement registers/vents do make noise, which could pose a problem for light sleepers. However, what is appreciated about Kit and Mark is that they explain this and many other things beforehand, so you'll know what to expect (it's called "country living" for you city folks). Please check them out if you're ever in the Highland NY area. You'll be glad you did!

    Byron2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful area to get away from the city yet still close enough to some charming town (new paltz/highland) Kathen was helpful answering any questions we had. The house is so cozy, so easy to cook and just have a relaxing evening in the woods

    Aaron2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Step through the red door into a designated landmark dating from 1735. Light from tall colonial Dutch windows reflects off the hand-restored wide-board floors and the decorative fireplace. There’s a backyard view through the split Dutch door. [Note] Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have stepped up our apartment reset procedures to help ensure your safety, such as disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, including but not limited to all doorknobs, handles, remotes, and keypads.
Downstairs you'll find a bright and airy living room in the front, the light from the tall colonial dutch windows reflected off of the hand-restored original wide-board floors. Past the large decorative fireplace is a newly renovated full kitchen and dining nook, with a backyard view through the split dutch door. Upstairs is a modest but modern bathroom with a heated towel rack, and two bedrooms, each with a 12" queen-sized memory foam mattress on a solid steel frame. For your comfort, the apartment has its own heating and cooling controls, with separate programmable thermostats for upstairs and downstairs.
The Colonel Abraham Hasbrouck House is in the historical Stockade district. At the center of Kingston, the first capital of New York State, the neighborhood is charming and walkable with some great restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops.

  • Jed's home is absolutely lovely! It is very stylish yet comfortable and very well appointed, with thoughtful touches like coffee beans and milk, apples, and a candy bar with a welcome note. Jed was accessible and checked in with ideas and suggestions for things to do locally. The house is also in the perfect location - just a few blocks from all of the uptown shops and restaurants. I really hope to return!

Right in Kingston's historical Stockade District, this garden-level apartment blends original 18th-century decorative features like dutch doors and a large stone hearth with modern amenities like a washer/dryer and easy keyless entry. It's part of the Colonel Abraham Hasbrouck House, a registered historical landmark built in 1735.
The apartment was fully renovated last year, and has a new bathroom and kitchen. It features original exposed beams and wide-board pine floors, as well as two decorative fireplaces, including the wall-to-wall living room hearth with a recently uncovered beehive oven. [Note] Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have stepped up our apartment reset procedures to help ensure your safety, such as disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, including but not limited to all doorknobs, handles, remotes, and keypads.
The Colonel Abraham Hasbrouck House is in the historical Stockade district. At the center of Kingston, the first capital of New York State, the neighborhood is charming and walkable with some great restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops.

Pine Place is a sunny and private flat set in a historical residence. The home features neutral earth tones amid stark whites, an open-plan lounge space, a kitchen, and access to the front patio with a breakfast spot.
Newly renovated ground floor apartment in residential neighborhood. Our building is set back from the street providing extra privacy. Pine Place comfortably accommodates two guests. It features a queen-sized bed, comfortable sofa, breakfast/work table and a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Linens provided throughout. We put a lot of love into designing this apartment. Many of the details are handmade by us, from the poured concrete countertops, to the mugs and bowls, the nightstands and even the breakfast table. Our artwork can also be spotted throughout the home.
Pine Street is a quiet residential neighborhood and the property is centrally located within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, and one of the best farmer's markets in the Hudson Valley.
  • Such a great spot! Within 10 minutes walk to all bars and restaurants in Kingston. The place was so stylish and comfortable and the hosts were really communicative and lovely. Would highly recommend to all.

  • Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for one night, but the house was perfect for my girlfriend and I. Cozy, very clean, and filled with thoughtful details. Andrew and Jocelyn gave us a great restaurant recommendation, and even a tour of their ceramics studio right next door.

Our home is in a quaint hamlet in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood. It is perched on an acre corner lot with a barn and beautiful trees and flowers and vegetable garden. It is clean and comfortable ranch style home about 30 years old. We are happy to host guests in our guest rooms when we are here and also allowing guests to use our entire home when we are traveling. Pam is a Bodyworker and Ronnie is a Mental Health Counselor and we could both be a available to provide our services!
The "Blue Room" is painted sky blue and has a comfy double bed, hardwood floor, dresser, large closet and air conditioner. It looks out to our backyard of lush trees, wild rabbits, squirrels , chip monks and birds. There is a shared 2 piece bathroom just down the hall and a shared 3 piece bathroom with shower downstairs. Children accompanied with all they need for their safety are welcome but we do not have door or stair gates, playpens etc The room is spacious enough to set up any accommodations they may need, play pen, crib etc We have a Rec Room downstairs that is sometimes available (check in advance) for children with a trundle bed and we have a spare double air mattress as well. (additional guest charge is $15 per person)
Our neighborhood is quiet and safe and close to nature trails. There is one restaurant in Tillson , the Postage Inn, and numerous in the closest towns of Rosendale and New Paltz. Great walking and biking in the Rail Trail and hiking, climbing and cave exploring in this part of the Hudson Valley! We have 3 bikes that can be used as well
  • Very charming and clean!

  • We had a wonderful experience staying in The Blue Room in Tillson. It was comfortable and cozy and there were lots of nice touches like complimentary breakfast, and a shareable kitchen. Pam’s home is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood where you can watch the trees sway and listen to the birds chirp. Highly recommend!

  • Nested in a peaceful neighborhood, with gorgeous trees and an incredible location, this air bnb was more than a pleasant, nurturing surprise! Pam and Ronnie are beyond Superhosts., they are kind, fun, delightful, wise, respectful, and caring. Pam is an extraordinary bodyworker, and attends to every need within seconds. Her communication is clear and concise, with an amazing warmth and tenderness. The house is spotless, with heart-melting touches, light-filled and cozy. Only 4 minutes from Rosendale (recommend the Big Cheese, Rosendale Theatre, Rosendale cafe, Rail trail...actually, what is there not to recommend in Rosendale?:)). And only 7 -10 minutes from the fun, pulsing town of New Paltz. Lake Minnewaska preserve (one of my favorite places in the world), Mohonk, and many hiking trails surround this air bnb. A hikers paradise! Also, great food (The Eggs Nest, Hokkaido, etc. to the list), spiritual centers, great music venues, there is really no end to this list. I travel a lot and have stayed in many air bnbs, but this one was so great that I am staying! Pam and Ronnie are new, old friends. Lovely and delightful super, super, super hosts! Enjoy.....and pack for an extra night or three:)!

  • Pam’s Place is a jewel in between Kingston and New Paltz on the bicycle rail trail. She responds immediately to reservation requests even at inconvenient times of the night. She truly puts her guests’ interests above all else. She’s also fascinating to speak with about many subjects ranging from health to education to economics. The communal kitchen is set up like a very clean youth hostel, with everything you need to keep, cook and eat food. The rooms are spacious and airy. A great place to stay.

  • Pam's Place is great. I was treated as a household member and made to feel right at home. The neighborhood and out of doors with large trees were special to me and interior atmosphere was clean, spacious, warm and friendly. I hope to return to these new friends when I do return to the Hudson Valley.
