This Poona beachfront house (Fibro del Mar!) is located in sleepy Poona on the Great Sandy Straits. It's a 1-bedroom fibro that was built in the late 60's. It's been renovated to make it open plan (living/kitchen/dining) with beautiful washed out timber floors. The bedroom faces the water and you wake to spectacular sunrises. Large back deck to lounge around on.
It's an old fibro and is a relaxed getaway, room to think, to read, to talk, to beachcomb and stargaze. It's a holiday experience of yesteryear when things were simple!
Community hall open on Friday nights for meals (6pm) and drinks. There is a small shop at the Poona Palms Caravan Park 2 minute walk away - they sell some basics. Maryborough is half hour drive away for most supplies, or there is Boonooroo 20 minutes away for the bowls club and golf course (food and drink options).
  • Tidy shack on the waterfront, wonderful breeze and great walk up to the point. Locals are very nice and the area is nice and quiet. We very much enjoyed the shack for a break away from work, the simple things are often the best! Communication was awesome and we recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a break from the big smoke.

    Jody2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time with our little dog at this clean, quiet little shack on the water. Lovely relaxed weekend away.

    Kathleen2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location

    Bryden2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect Christmas at this gorgeous cottage by the water. It's beautifully decorated and Rob was very thoughtful and even left us a real Christmas tree which made the day extra special. Being right on the water was amazing and the fact that we could bring our dogs was brilliant. Hope to return in the near future!

  • Great hospitality

  • Great little retro “shack”, right on the foreshore, very quiet, relaxing spot, time to do nothing or as much water activities (when the tide is in), fishing and family time as you want

Just listed Jan, 1, 2020 this absolute waterfront property situated in the wide bay area looks out to Fraser Island. We are only a short 20 minute drive to the beautiful historical town of Maryborough and a further 30 minutes to Hervey Bay which was recently named the best whale watching location in the WORLD. There is a nine hole golf course and bowling club within walking distance. Fishing and crabbing is great in the area and at high tide you can even cast a line from the front lawn.
Your hosts Robyn and Doug live next door and are always available to assist with your fishing and crabbing information.
  • Excellent location great to relax but also fish , play golf & bowls nearby .Great host lots of knowledge of the area we will go again great value for money

    Marylyn2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The host is very nice and offers a lot of convenience and help. The house is well located right by the sea. Our family had a great weekend and we were grateful for the host's reception.

  • What an amazing place from the location, to the property, amenities and the hosts. It was a lovely get away from the chaos of life with the added bonus of being able to launch the tinny 100 metres away! The kids and dog also really enjoyed themselves with the extra bonus of the kayaks and canoe to use along with just exploring the shoreline when the tide went out. You really just need to bring your clothes, food and drink as the property has everything else that you need. We will certainly be visiting again!

The Marina, Yacht Club, Library, RSL, Barnacles Cafe (for daily Dolphin feeding) are all an easy walk away and the country club, which runs a courtesy bus, is just a few minutes drive away.

  • Fantastic host- lots of nice touches, like fresh fruit and muffins. The place was beautiful and clean with a lovely outdoor area to relax.

  • I was blown away when I arrived at Jo's place. The privacy and ammenities really exceeded expectations. The courtyard area and BBQ made for great place to relax after a day at the beach. She provided towels and a rug also which enhanced our beach experience. The KITCHENETTE was tidy and she provided fruit and breakfast along with tea which we indulged in lots. The air conditioned room was perfect with a TV and a nice collection of DVD's we enjoyed each night. Felt like our own little resort 10/10 will be recommending to friends and family

  • A lovely annex. Very clean and really well presented. Nice to have breakfast provided with lovely homemade muffins. Really enjoyed our stay in Tin Can Bay. Definitely recommend this property.

  • We arrived to homemade muffins and a fridge full of goodies. Really good facilities, perfect for a few nights stay. Loved it.

    Lorrie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jo's accommodation is extraordinary. It has a lot of charm and everything is perfect. Not a single detail is missing: you have everything to cook on the barbecue, recommendations and even chairs and towels to go to the beach. It is in a very quiet area, perfect to relax and enjoy the patio. Good Internet, air conditioning, fan, movies, etc. Also in the fridge you have everything for breakfast, we even had some delicious homemade muffins.

    Javier2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jo and Stephen were absolutely lovely and kindly saved us when we could have missed our bus the next morning! They went the extra mile and Jo even pointed out some of the local bars and restaurants to us and nice spots to go for a walk so we could get our bearings. The place was really cute and nicely decorated with a comfy bed. We were also left a lovely selection of breakfast. We would highly recommend staying here if you need a place in Tin Can Bay!

    Tin Can Bay, QLD, Australia

Seychelle Apartments are in the centre of Tin Can Bay, 50 meters from the bay foreshore. We provide bikes and there are miles of foreshore walkways and bike tracks to explore. We have two apartments both have full kitchen, lounge and separate bedroom. There is undercover parking for your car and plenty of room for a small boat. We are walking distance to shops and eateries and the famous wild dolphins that visit each day. You also have use of 2 bikes and a 2 man canoe to explore the local area.
Private with your own tropical courtyard. Under cover parking. Only 50 metres from the water edge and foreshore walkways along the Bay. Situated in central Tin Can Bay and within walking distance of all amenities.

  • Everything is right at Melissa’s Seychelle Apartments. We came north from Melbourne to dodge the winter chill, and found warmth in every form – temperature, people, things to do. We are demanding of our AirBnb accommodation, yet Seychelle did not disappoint. There’s a great barbecue on small but private, lush green patio, a well-equipped kitchen in a clean, functional, comfortable apartment – and clean carpets! I felt comfortable going barefoot. The bed was very comfortable. It not slumped in the middle, a common AirBnb problem. Some might think the bed on the soft side, but that depends on preference. The shower had great water pressure, the hot water plenty hot, although the shower head was a bit low for taller folks. (We ducked and enjoyed.) The location is fantastic. We walked to the local restaurants, the dolphin feeding, the supermarket, all a few minutes on foot. Of course, we used their bicycles too, for wandering car-free farther afield. To be picky – very picky – the location is next to a service station on the main road through Tin Can Bay. The end of that main road through Tin Can Bay is about a kilometer later, so there isn’t a lot of traffic, but there is some. Over our stay, we noticed the odour of fuel once, and were only bothered by the noise a few times. Briefly, on Saturdays. We’d stay here again. It may be the reason we will return to this quiet but inviting community.

  • Great location, lovely comfortable bed and couches. Private courtyard was really nice and our welcome on arrival was pretty special

  • Nice private place in great location. Private courtyard was a nice spot to relax.

  • Seychelles is a lovely place to stay. Spotlessly clean and a nice comfy bed. Melissa was very friendly and helpful and was close by if we needed her. (which we didn't as everything was there). It is close to the water and a nice walking track. It's a lovely bonus to have access to bikes and a kayak. We will be back. Thank you. :)

    Mandy2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Seychelles Apartment is a stones throw from the walkways along Tin Can Bay's Esplanade where there are also picnic facilities (BBQ's , Tables Toilets) as well as gym equipment and a walking circle. You have only a short walk to the local grocery store, newsagent, post office and the local hotel, Sleepy Lagoon. From the apartment you can walk (15 minutes) to Barnacles on the point where you can pay to feed the Dolphins. The apartment itself is clean, has a lovely private courtyard where you can sit and enjoy the garden. Great value for money staying here, I would recommend other guests to book here and enjoy this charming little coastal village.

    Elizabeth2019-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was great - very clean, convenient and available at short notice. Loved the private courtyard and laundry facilities too. Thanks for a great stay.

  • Good location to the bay with handy access for supplies at the service station next door. Very peaceful & private. Enjoyed using the canoe and fishing gear.

Our cosy holiday house is situated right on the esplanade with ocean views from the main bedroom, living area and verandah. A perfect location for beach walks, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, bird / kangaroo watching and relaxing. Only a short drive to the boat ramp for serious fishing / crabbing or a short trip to Fraser Island. We love holidaying here and hope our guests do too.
'Ocean Views' is our holiday house too, so it has many comforts of home including air conditioning. All facilities are available for guest use with the exception of the fireplace due to safety concerns. Guests may park under the house if they desire, or park on the driveway to create additional space for outdoor entertaining. As well as the queen, double & single beds, we also have available a kinderkot (and sheets) and change mat (and cover) for young children, as well as a safety gate for the top of the stairs which guests may install at their own risk. The single bed has both a girl & boy themed doona cover. You can let us know your preference when booking. All beds are very comfortable and all bedding including pillow and mattress protectors, pillow cases, sheets (fitted & flat) and doona covers are washed (and doonas inspected) between stays and doonas are washed when needed as well as on a regular basis. Kitchen appliances include microwave, toaster, kettle, electric frypan, electric beaters and it is well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils. We also supply oil, salt and pepper. The DVD player, as well as playing DVDs, should also play MP1, MP2, PS, TS, MP4, divX & VOB files on USB, though I have not yet tested all of the above. We provide a small library of DVDs for adults and children as well as a USB of family movies. We also have a small selection of toddler toys, puzzles, blocks, toy cars and games including memory, uno, ono '99, connect 4, scrabble, ludo, chess and 2 packets of playing cards. Our house uses tank water filtered through a brand new, top of the range filtration system that cleans the water and eliminates harmful bacteria. It is safe to drink and tastes great but as with all tank water may still be slightly discoloured. Some guests may prefer to bring bottled water if not comfortable with drinking tank water but all of our guests have been satisfied with the quality to date. Please note that our bathroom consists of a shower only, we do not have a bath. You may be surprised to hear that Telstra Air is available in our out-of-the-way holiday house. Great news for eligible Telstra customers as the wi-fi is unlimited and free! If you are not eligible, you can purchase guest passes for 1 hour, 1 day, 5 days and 30 days through Telstra (after selecting Telstra Air in Wi-fi settings). Please note that it seems to only work on devices, not computers and we do not guarantee that it will be available or reliable as it is not a service that we provide. You can also access your mobile data and phone reception is fine in Tuan also. We strongly encourage guests to pack their fishing rods and if you have a boat, there's plenty of room to park it on our block. There is a yabby pump under the house for guest use, but it’s also a good idea to byo bait. For guests with boats, the boat ramp is also on the esplanade, a very short drive from the house. The boat ramp provides easy access to the Great Sandy Straits and heritage-listed Fraser Island and unlike the boat ramps in neighbouring towns the creek doesn’t dry up at low tide so you won’t get stranded! You also have the option of fishing in the protected waters of the creek if it’s too rough in the open waters. For those without boats there are some great fishing locations including along the creek bank, off the boat ramp and even right out the front of the house. If you catch a whopper, which my husband did only 50m from the boat ramp (see photos), you are welcome to use the chest freezer to store it until you head home. You may also choose to pack the kids’ bikes as our end of the esplanade is a no through road with limited traffic but parents will still need to supervise. There is also a playground and barbecue area near the boat ramp (see photos). Kids can swim all along the esplanade including out the front of our house and for deeper water, near the playground, when the tide is in and the waves are gentle which is a bonus! Finally, you may have noticed that we charge a flat nightly rate with a 15% discount for weekly stays (that’s one night free) and 20% discount for a month. We do not increase our rate for weekends, holidays, high season, etc as we don't like being on the receiving end when we holiday. Be aware that you may need to book well in advance to ensure you don't miss out if you are considering these times! Please feel free to contact us if you are considering staying with us and have any further questions. Cheers, Nicole and Gene
'Ocean Views' is only a short drive from Boonooroo where there is both a bowls and golf club. They offer meals (Golf Club 12-2pm & 6-7:30pm daily & Bowls Club 12-2pm & 6-8pm Fri and Sat and roast lunch Sun). Menus for both clubs can be found on their websites. The closest location for general shopping is Maryborough, about 20 minutes away. Tin Can Bay, where you can feed the dolphins for small change is approximately 30 minutes drive away. And don't forget Hervey Bay, 40 minutes away, for whale watching and Fraser Island tours as well as Wet Side, the go-karts/waterslide complex, jump park, skateboard parks and some great playgrounds for entertaining the kids.

The kids enjoyed the box full of sporting toys with a great backyard to kick the footy and the perfect sunset each night. • Loved our stay that much we want to plan a trip back! Nicole was great at communicating with us and it was the simple touches which didnt go unnoticed. The chest freezer downstairs was perfect for the fishing we did and the inclusion of ice was handy. The BBQ also was great as we used this most nights and there was mozzie coils and insect repellent available to use. The children books, toys and the USB full of movies to watch were a hit! Finally the kitchen has everything you need and more. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a stay in Tuan. Thank you Nicole for allowing us to stay over our New Year Break

You wont have to drive anywhere if you don’t want to – IGA is just a hop skip and a jump up the road (150m) and is open from 6am til 7pm every day of the week. Walk a little further on from IGA and you’ll find the Town Centre with a delicious bakery, pizza shop, fish n chips, fresh local seafood, pharmacy, bank, newsagent, gift store, hairdresser and the fabulous local butcher shop. Take a stroll northwards along the esplanade and you’ll discover cafes, tackle shops, service station, restaurants, the Snack Shack ( simply the best local seafood cooked to perfection every night of the week ! - choose local fillets of freshly caught reef fish, freshly shucked oysters and prawn cutlets so good you will double your order the following night ) . The Sleepy Lagoon Hotel & Thirsty Camel Bottle Shop is an easy 600m walk up the road and serves up cracking pub fare, pizzas and cold beverages lunch and dinner. Lees Fishing Company is open daily 8am – 4.30pm with a magnificent offering of freshly caught local prawns, bugs, reef fish, crabs, oysters, scallops, squid and also has a freezer full of quality bait, whole mullet and crab pot frame packs. Then there’s the Yacht Club for absolute waterfront dining, the Marina Bar & Grill, Temptations by the Water, Alistans by the Bay, Tasty’s at Tin Can Bay or catch the free courtesy bus to the Tin Can Bay Country Club for delicious Chinese cuisine. Another must do is to call in to the Tin Can Bay RSL for a coldie on Sunday for their weekly BBQ lunch & raffles – its an easy 600m walk up the road from Watoomba House. No trip to Tin Can Bay is complete without enjoying a morning coffee at barnacles café overlooking Schnapper Creek after hand feeding the wild Australian humpback dolphins that have been visiting the area since 1950, this is such a memorable experience for both young and old guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on the many whom are lucky to take part in this daily occurrence. If you are keen to get out on the sparkling waters of the Bay and don’t have your own boat – don’t despair just hire one from Tin Can Bay Boat Hire – with plenty of local fishing tips to share they have several vessels for you to choose from and can get you safely out on the water in no time. They can even provide bait and tackle - and of course give a full safety briefing prior to your departure. When you feel like getting outta town for the day and exploring nearby areas, you are most certainly spoilt for choice with many incredibly diverse and pristine natural environments to discover. Number one on the list is world heritage listed Fraser Island - KGari - the world’s largest sand island and you can make an adventurous day trip or much longer if you have time. Being 123km long and 166,038 hectares in size , the island has so many incredible places to see, even a week isn’t long enough ! Travel in your own 4wd, hire one or jump on a fully guided day tour from Rainbow Beach and experience this natural wonder right on your doorstep. An area of remarkable beauty, K’gari has many sites with archaeological remains recording thousands of years of culture and traditions providing important links to the Butchulla people’s past. If you are keen to visit Fraser under your own steam please let us know and we can provide you with loads of handy local information that will make your trip both safe and comfortable in the time you have to spare. As the saying goes time and tide wait for no man so it’s a good idea to plan your Fraser adventure based around tide times, the current beach conditions and your “must see” list once you land on beautiful K'gari. Rainbow Beach offers many fun experiences for the whole family, from climbing Carlo Sand Blow to take in the incredible views northward to Fraser Island, the stunning coloured sand cliffs and southbound to Double Island Point where its 4wd access only via the beach at low tide or the inland freshwater track. Once you get to Double Island walk to the Light House for panoramic views, spot whales ( seasonally ) during their migratory journey, see bottle nose dolphin pods, majestic Manta Rays and many species of turtles. If you don’t have your own kayaks make sure you book yourself on the Epic Ocean Adventure Dolphin View Kayak Tours departing from Rainbow Beach – you’ll get up close and personal with the friendly local dolphins, or pack your SUP or surf board and ride Australia’ s longest wave ( when conditions are right this break runs for over a kilometre !! ) – perfect for anyone learning to surf. Double Island is a stunning natural location, unspoilt and completely removed from the busier beach areas, with Honeymoon Bay offering an ever changing landscape of shifting sands and crystal clear turquoise water, you won’t want to pack up and leave ! Check tide times for safe beach access to DI as the infamous Mudlo Rocks have claimed many 4wd’s over the years – you don’t want to get your photo taken and placed on the wall of shame at the pub ! QPWS permits apply so jump on the Government website and get your permit before heading onto the beach. Also whilst in the Gympie region take the Valley Rattler Steam Train & Railmotor Tour departing from the Mary Valley Heritage Railway through the Scenic Mary Valley.

  • We stayed 2 weeks with another family, it was spacious and comfortable well appointed with a tasteful renovation the downstairs area was a real teen/adult hang spot They were occupied with pool table ,darts and cards. There are some amazing bush walks around the area and amazing fishing. Great swimming at rainbow beach and searys creek and back home to peaceful tin can bay. Highly recommended

Welcome to our Seaside Cracka! Our beachy Shack has undergone a recent renovation with new paint, fixtures and fittings. It is light and airy whilst also being private and quiet. The sleep you'll get here will be second to none! The front deck is a beautiful spot to have a morning cuppa with glimpses of the water which is only 100 metres away. Grab a book and chill in our hammock. The property has plenty of space for off street parking and is fully fenced, giving peace of mind.
We believe that having time away is for relaxing with your partner, family & friends, reading books, chilling out, playing board games whilst sipping on your favourite drink. Our little Seaside Cracka is set up for you to do this, so when you leave you feel rejuvenated, relaxed & connected. The wildlife is amazing, the beach is close, hand feeding the dolphins is a must and only a 3 minute drive away, the seafood is fresh and all shops are within walking distance. We started a "Pay it forward" cupboard in the kitchen filled with Tea, coffee, sugar (kept in freezer), vegemite and whatever other surprises guests want to leave for the next guest.
Tin Can Bay is a friendly family orientated town with plenty of nature both in and out of the water to get lost in. Rainbow Beach is a 20 minute drive away and Woolworths is located 5 minutes away at Cooloola Cove.

  • We absolutely loved our family holiday in the Seaside Cracka! We had never been to Tin Can Bay and were pleasantly surprised by this lovely, laid back beachy town. The Seaside Cracka has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated making it an ideal holiday house for a relaxing getaway. It’s in the perfect location, just a short walk to the local IGA, bakery, pizza shop etc and about 100m from the foreshore, playground, walking paths, skatepark etc. Our 4 children loved going for a scooter ride down to the park every day and swim in the shallow beach in the afternoons. We also did a couple of day trips to Rainbow Beach, dolphin feeding, and sunset cruise. Highly recommend the Seaside Cracka for an easy, relaxing family holiday.

Tin Can Bay is a beautiful seaside village that is known for its abundant wildlife, easy atmosphere and magnificent wild-catch seafood harvested from the pristine waters of the Great Sandy Strait (Great Sandy Marine Park) and Pacific Ocean. To judge for yourself, dine alfresco in one of the many cafés or traditional fish and chip shops, or like many savvy travellers, stock up your holiday fridge and enjoy fresh prawns, crabs and fish right on the water’s edge. Tip: the sand flies do come out at night along the water so bring your insect repellent. Tin Can Bay has a number of activities for the adventurer or a young family - you can partake in sailing, fishing, bird watching, horse riding, a round of golf at the 18 hole golf course or a walk around town on the sealed foreshore path or wildflower walk. However, with miles and miles of pristine waterways, the most rewarding activity in Tin Can Bay is being on the water. Fraser Island is only a 40 minute boat trip, so why not hire a boat and go adventuring..You can sail, cruise, kayak or hire a houseboat. The water has abundant turtles, fish species, dolphins, mud crabs and sand crabs. For a peaceful kayaking experience consider exploring Snapper Creek and Crab Creek. The Great Sandy Strait also has ideal sailing conditions, stunning scenery with many sheltered bays, sand flats, beaches and mangrove-lined creeks that are perfect for fishing and home to dugongs - check marine park zoning regulations before you visit at npsr.qld.gov.au. Birdwatchers can observe more than 140 species, including some rare shorebirds that have migrated from as far as Siberia to use the area as their summer resting ground after breeding. Some species fly up to 25,000 kilometres (round trip) to reach Tin Can Bay. Tin Can Bay is endeared to locals and tourists for the beautiful and unique opportunity to hand feed and interact with rare Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins. Under the supervision of Barnacles Dolphin Centre, you are able to stand in the water and get up close and personal with these gentle souls. The dolphins generally arrive around 7-7:30am and you can feed them from 8:00am. Unauthorised dolphin feeding is not permitted.

TCB is a town where social distancing is easily maintained. Situated 150 meters walking distance from the foreshore in a quiet, leafy street, Our Place gives you the perfect opportunity to switch off. Recently renovated and fully fenced, Our Place is a very comfortable property to relax in. TCB is known for the bay and birdlife, of which at least 20 bird species have been observed at Our Place, being surrounded by mature trees and native plants. Follow and like us via OurPlacetcb.
Our Place is your private space for your stay and is our holiday house that we use throughout the year. We have chosen to allow other people to experience the opportunity to switch off at Our Place. You will have the entire house, set in a quiet location in TCB. The property is fully fenced with ample parking on the property including a remote controlled single lock up garage for guest use. Professional cleaners maintain the property to support a high level of hygiene. Our Place is situated a short stroll from the foreshore which makes it easy to organise your water activities and access the 4km boardwalk outlining the local bird life and plants. TCB is known to have at least 140 bird species and we have identified at least 20 who visit our property. We encourage birds by providing a bird bath and native plants to attract them. Sit back and enjoy the calm and avid birdlife.
Tin Can Bay is a small town with approximately 1600 people. Social distancing is easy and you can enjoy walks along the foreshore and calm fishing. Being so close to the foreshore provides ample opportunity to social distance and enjoy the serenity. We love Tin Can Bay as it is an escape from the busy city. Both being busy professionals we appreciate slowing down. Our Place is perfectly situated close to the foreshore and in walking distance of local amenities: IGA, post office, bakery etc. There are two vintage cruiser style bicycles at Our Place for you to explore TCB if you wish. Not only do we appreciate the change of pace but also the wildlife: watching the variety of birds as well as observing lace monitors and green tree frogs. You know you are in a great place when wildlife feel comfortable being present in your garden! TCB is also known for fishing and crabbing. There is a local boat and kayak hire business if you would like to get further away from the shore.
  • If you're in Tin Can Bay, definitely keep this one on the top of your list. We enjoyed our time we stayed at "Our Place". This is at a very nice and quiet location (short stroll to Kindy beach), and there are lots of thoughtful touches - you don't really need Wi-Fi! Thanks very much ladies!

  • A lovely little spot right opposite the waterfront and an easy walk to food and dolphins. John and Elspeth were perfect hosts- available for anything we needed. The place is absolutely spotless! You can tell these guys are ex-boaties as everything has its space and is as neat as a button. We found that the photos did not really do the place justice. Very comfortable and not at all intrusive having John and Elspeth upstairs. We made good use of the bbq. Wish we could’ve stayed longer- Tin Can Bay is such a relaxed spot! Perfect to put you in the holiday mode. We went to the Dolphin Centre which was pretty crazy busy- charming and low key, but pretty touristy. Lots of local characters to make the stay interesting both at the Dolphin Centre and the Marina!

    Steve2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • John and Elspeth’s place was well appointed and perfect for our one night getaway from the city. It was much bigger than I expected and they included little touches like supplies for coffee and tea and shampoo and a hair dryer in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable and it was a nice quiet location a short walk from the local restaurants. We dealt mainly with Elspeth who was communicative and very friendly upon our arrival and departure. She helped us out with some local tips on where to have dinner. Would definitely stay here again if we visit the area another time!

  • We had a lovely weekend away at Brenda’s beautiful house. Very enjoyable and relaxing place with absolutely everything we needed, also spotless! We really loved the roomy kitchen with all the appliances and stunning balcony also very tastefully decorated with beautiful picture frames throughout the house. Perfect house for a gateway with friends or family or for a couple. So much room for our dogs who loved the big garden :) Great location with plenty of beautiful areas around to visit (would definitely recommend to go to the marina for the famous dolphin feeding and the best value yummy breakfast). Lots of great walking and fishing and relaxing activities. The community was very friendly and chilled out. Highly recommended Brenda’s place!

Historic timber cottage on the highest point in the village, just a short walk to the waters edge and all the Bay's attractions. Cosy, comfortable and fully fenced for children and pets.
Dory Cottage was originally a one room school at Glastonbury, west of Gympie. It was moved to Tin Can Bay after the school closed in the 1960s and has been our much loved bay escape since the 1990s. We've retained the charm of the original building and used a lot of paint and gap filler to make it the comfortable, back to basics (no dishwasher no internet) cottage you see today with the added luxury of a newly installed 7kw air conditioner It has a large fully fenced garden with plenty of room for play. Old fashioned outdoor games (quoits, badminton, croquet) are there for you to use and also books and indoor games ( Boggle, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly) coloured pens and paper if you'd rather stay inside. There is a gas barbecue for cooking outside and a firepit (an old Weber) if you feel like sitting round the 'campfire'. Please BYO firewood. If you're looking for a peaceful escape, a real old fashioned family time, this is the place to be.
Dory Cottage is close to everything and if you're fit and enjoy walking, you can easily leave the car and go on foot everywhere.
  • This was our second time at Dory Cottage and as usual, it was lovely! We were the first to check out the new deck area outside and it was the perfect spot for a cool drink and a book on a warm afternoon. Communication with Tim and Holly is easy and quick and the location and cottage itself is perfect.

    Lauren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Communication was great from day one. This is a great beach house within easy walking distance to everything. It’s decorated in a comfortable beachy style which was easy to live in and very durable, We loved that our 2 dogs had plenty of room to run around & we could go down the pub or out for lunch knowing they were safe and happy. We didn’t need the two other rooms this time however we noticed they are beautifully set up. Loved all the little touches such stocking the house with bread, butter, crackers, fruit cheese, milk, sparkling water, pet food & bowls, insect repellent & all the basics you could need. We had a wonderful stay & would definitely stay again.

    Loraine2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • From first arriving to see the cute little cottage with ample yard space to opening the door, wow, what an awesome little house. With all the personal touches, it was just like home. We loved it. The beds are super comfy, the yard is fantastic for the four legged friends and a relaxing beer or wine. Heaps of space for a family of four. Close to everything.. We loved it and would highly recommend

    Adam2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutely gorgeous, we just loved our stay. It has been done up nicely, but not too modern, and stayed in keeping with the style of cottage that it is, which I prefer. The hosts are great to deal with, and their extra touches were very much appreciated.

    Casey2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Dory Cottage. It’s cute and comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated with many extra welcoming touches. We love that it’s fenced and our little dog feels safe and happy when he stays too. Tim’s communication is clear, prompt and friendly.

  • We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Midge the Silky loved the back garden as did we. The extra touches like fruit, cheese, biscuits, bread and milk etc were appreciated and there was a good stock of basics like tea, condiments etc. The bed was comfy and the kitchen while small served us well. Tim and Holly were great hosts and communicated with us promptly. Highly recommended. Thanks Tim and Holly!

  • Lovely unit close to the foreshore in a quaint fishing village. Unit is set in a nice sub-tropical garden. We enjoyed our few days here. Comfy bed, good shower, everything we needed for a relaxed break.

    Tin Can Bay, QLD, Australia

Please note, this house is only available to my personal friends and colleagues at work. It is a small house near Kindy Beach, a great spot to relax and put your feet up and there are lots of lovely options for things to do in and around Tin Can Bay. Benevolent colleagues and personal friends, please contact me about a special rate for you. This is an adults only retreat. No children under 18 or fur children of any age.
I have set the house up to support relaxing at the beach. Just unlock the door and enjoy. The house enjoys uninterrupted views of the estuary. 3 spacious bedrooms, modern kitchen and bathroom and open plan living area. Short walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops and wild dolphins who visit every day. For colleagues I am charging $25 per person per night. If you would like to make a booking, please send an enquiry stating how many people will be staying and I’ll adjust the price accordingly. Please note that I will only accept 6 people or less. The house simply cannot manage more people. I am experimenting with different ways of renting the house out as I'd like to be able to share the house with others when I'm not there, but not have to spend my time cleaning it after guests depart. The goal is to make it as self sustainable as possible. For this reason, I have reduced the nightly cost for work colleagues but ask that you bring your own sheets (for Queen sized beds) bath towels, beach towels, kitchen towel and all food. Woolworths and IGA are very close by if needed. I also ask that you leave the house in the exact same condition that you find it in, so sweeping the floors, cleaning the bathroom and loo and leaving the kitchen clean and tidy will improve the experience for other team members who will enter the house after you. Cleaning products and a broom are provided. Decorated with the beach in mind, the house reflects the colours of the Cooloola Coast. The fully equipped kitchen and outdoor BBQ will make cooking local prawns a breeze. Please do not burn any wood at all in the Weber. The back garden is a work in progress! I'm seeing veggie patches and fruit trees in the future! Unfortunately I cannot welcome your fur children - there is just too much impact on the house. Important: Please note the service fee is set by AirBnB and is their way of covering their platform costs and making a profit. It is out of my control and is a fee in addition to my nightly rate.
The house is within easy walking distance to all town services. Waterfront coffee shops, restaurants and parkland are local favourites, and the wild dolphins which visit the marina every morning are a tourist highlight where you can feed them and enjoy their freedom. Tin Can Bay is famous for fishing, and the swimming at the front of the house is relaxed, perfect for Stand Up Paddle boarding, wind surfing, crabbing and playing at the beach. Nearby towns of interest include Rainbow Beach (think stunning beaches, access point to Fraser Island, countless 4WD tracks and fishing at Inskip Point ), Maryborough (birthplace of the author of Mary Poppins) and Gympie (home of the mother of all Musters - apparently!) The Tin Can Bay Seafood Festival happens in September each year and a well established local market cranks up on the third Sat of every month. Locally grown fruit and veg are in abundance, alongside other stalls.

  • This place was in a great location, just a walk across the road. Sitting out on the veranda you have a waterfront view. Great locations for walks and to get to the beaches. Comfy and relaxing home.
