Places to stay in Pendle Hill
My place is in West Bradford, a mile and a half from Clitheroe, with great views and countryside walks. Although there are no shops or pubs in the village itself, a fantastic restaurant is just a minute's walk away. You’ll love my cosy, compact cottage dating from the 1730's with an original beam. It is located in beautiful gardens bordering a babbling brook. A private patio overlooks the brook towards fields. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS During the current time we are taking even greater care over cleaning the cottage. All surfaces are being wiped down with anti-bacterial and anti-virus cleaner. An anti-bacteria and anti-virus agent is being added when bedding and towels are laundered. If guests would prefer to bring their own bedding and towels they are welcome to do this. Weavers' Cottage is small but beautifully formed and oozing with character. The stone built cottage is located opposite our house and has been operating as a self-catering holiday cottage for the past twelve years. The studio accommodation has everything you need: double bed, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, two easy chairs, breakfast bar, separate shower and toilet, full central heating, TV with DVD player.
West Bradford is a relatively small village community one and a half miles from Clitheroe. It is a rural community with a number of farms and acres of farmland with excellent walks within yards of the cottage. The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists. The village does not have any shops but the nearby town of Clitheroe, has a very good range of shops and supermarkets. Whilst there are limited amenities within the village The 3 Millstones restaurant is less than a hundred yards from the cottage. It is open Wednesday to Sunday and offers excellent food at very reasonable prices: there is an early diner menu Wednesday to Friday 6.00 to 7.00 pm with two courses for approximately £13. There are always two guest ales on tap and there is a very good wine list. The food is consistently excellent, we eat there at least once a month and have never been disappointed. One mile down the road is Waddington, a very picturesque village with three popular and well regarded pubs and The Country Kitchen which provides a hearty breakfast at reasonable cost. Both The Waddington Arms and The Lower Buck are dog friendly.
  • Absolutely stunning place to stay with the stream bubbling behind the cottage and friendly ducks wandering around the garden 🦆. Inside was toasty warm and had everything we needed (including good tea bags). Loved it!

  • Andrew's cottage is just lovely and we had a great time there (despite the weather). We and our dog were made very welcome. The area is beautiful and gave us a chance to escape the city. We highly recommend this place and would always visit again.

  • We had two fabulous nights and days in this little gem of a place. Cosy and warm, with everything we needed for our stay. Nice long walks, good food nearby oh and not forgetting the lovely, hot shower! Thank you Andrew and Sue for being such friendly hosts, we’ll be back xx

  • Please do not be put off by the size of this property, it has everything you need and more. We stayed with two large Golden Retrievers and found there to be ample room for us all.

  • Lovely cottage, cosy, comfortable and clean. Well located for the surrounding countryside.

  • Cosy little cottage. We needed accommodation for a wedding at nearby Eaves Hall, this place was perfect for us. Andrew and Susan were friendly and greeted us at check in. Its in a very old building but inside it was modern and heating was good enough even in December. They also have facilities for self catering which made it felt more homely.

  • Deborah and Andrew are great hosts who have created a warm, comfortable and clean, private space for guests in their home. I couldn’t fault any part of this stay and in addition, Deborah had laid out some bread and cereals for us to help ourself to as well as tea and coffee whenever we wanted. They also can give you plenty of useful tips for local places to visit. Don’t forget to make time to Pat their beautiful 11 year old dog ‘ faith’ who may just wander by quietly to say hello. She’s adorable. Their lovely home is within 5 minutes walk of the town centre which has some nice shops, eateries and the Everyman Cinema. Thank you so much for our stay xx

  • A really warm and comfortable stay with a beautiful house and excellent amenities. The walk in shower with no step was extremely useful and iv always thought Mira Power Showere the best. My only problem was my stay was too short. Thanks very much.

This cosy 1 bedroom cottage in the centre of Clitheroe is the perfect location to explore the beautiful Ribble Valley, attend weddings in the area, visit the wine bars and real ale houses and enjoy the many festivals held in the town. Newly refurbished, the cottage has an enclosed outside space and is a short walk from the many bars, shops, railway and bus stations. The host will provide a warm welcome and can share extensive local knowledge to help you relax and get the most from your visit.
The one bedroom has a king sized bed but there is a sofa bed in the lounge on request if guests would rather sleep separately or for children. There is seating for only two guests, but cutlery, crockery, etc for four.
Clitheroe is a historic market town with a famous Norman castle surrounded by a lovely park. The town has many well know locally owned businesses eg Byrne’s wine shop, Bowland brewery, Dawson’s and The Grand as well as being surrounded by many stunning villages and at the door of Pendle Hill. It is a great base for walking and cycling.
  • Fantastic spot if you want to be within walking distance to everything clitheroe has to offer! Wonderful cottage with everything you need and then some. Sue left milk, bread, butter, jam and a variety of teas and coffees for us on arrival. Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and would also return in the future 😊

  • Sue was always ready to help with everything and she always gives a good care with guest. The cottage was very clean and the location was fabulous. It took 40 seconds to main street and around 5mins to Clitheroe station. Just around the conner, thee is a bus stop goes to Preston and etc. Tesco is just 2mins away and the cottage has sufficient amenities. I can recommend this cottage to everyone and I would definitely wanna stay at her place again.

  • A lovely little space for two within a characterful little town. The cottage had everything we needed for a lovely weekend meeting with friends. Everything was clean, tidy and uncluttered. There was bread, butter, conserves, coffee and a selection of tea including a fruit one. Shops, supermarkets, and a selection of smaller local merchants a few mins walk supplied a choice of anything we wanted. Likewise, churches, theatre, restaurants and coffee shops were all just a few steps from the front door. Although the cottage doesn’t have private parking, there is some street parking and /or p&d parking nearby. Perfect!

    Denise2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very well kept and sparkling clean. Sue wad great at keeping in touch and made an extra special effort leaving out toys for our 5 month old daughter. As well as bread rolls, milk, butter and jam. Would highly recommend.

  • A hidden gem in Clitheroe. We booked 'Tilly' as cheap accomodation to add to our Clitheroe visit. We would 100% here everytime we visit Cllithroe and even make excuses to visit. What a fabulous place. Karen the host was so attentive, quick responses, kind, and friendly. The caravan was super cool with so many cute added touches including flapjack, tea and coffee, great mugs, wine and chocolates on arrival and beautifully decorated. Warm and cosy, we didn't want to leave. The breakfast was out of this world, with home made jam, orange cartons and so fresh. Brought to you in bed. Totally fabulous and I would stay here over any luxury hotel. Can't wait to return. Thankyou again. Roxanne and Ben (15/11/19)

  • Thanks for having me! I felt so welcome in your home - it’s clean, homey and warm, and you both are simply brilliant hosts! Stephen was very kind and picked me and my bicycle up at the train station as I was arriving late in the evening, which made me feel safe. I really appreciate the conversations we had and the tips they gave me about the local area. I highly recommend this place!

    Amanda2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen and Sue are very friendly and helpful and you really feel at home with them. We enjoyed the kitchen table conversations. It is tidy and clean. Here B&B is just as B&B is meant to be! We highly recommend this accommodation.

    Marco2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen and Sue have a beautiful home which was spotlessly clean when we arrived. They left a basket of delectable goodies for us and plenty of stuff in the fridge which they invited us to use as we wished. All the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely with a very hot shower. Stephen and Sue helped us find somewhere for dinner and vacated the house so 5 of us could be comfortable during our stay. Can’t praise them enough as hosts and the house is a fantastic place to stay to explore a beautiful area from. Thank you.

    Caroline2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's home is in a quiet street and was easy to find. As soon as I got through the door I was being made a cuppa and had a good long chat before being shown to my spacious and comfortable room. Stephen even kindly gave me a lift to the evening event I was attending and collected me afterwards - it wasn't far away, but obviously he knew where he was going far better than I did, so it was much appreciated! I slept comfortably; the room was just the right temperature and the bed was comfy. All in all, I'd happily stay with him again.

    Nathan2018-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best host I’ve ever met, would be hard to find better than him. Stephen helps me a lot and very understanding. Glad i made this booking since barrowford really nice also. Worth to try if u looking for village experience

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Stephen's place. It's a beautiful, immaculately clean house with lots of lovely touches. We booked at short notice and Stephen responded immediately - all communications were very prompt. Stephen and Sue were very thoughtful and welcoming, taking care of all the needs of our mixed-age family group. They had lots of suggestions of places to visit. We enjoyed the Pendle Heritage Centre just round the corner, which had lots of information and things to see. Would strongly recommend a stay at Stephen and Sue's place.

    Hilary2018-08-17T00:00:00Z

The Chicken Shed at Knowle Top was newly built in 2019 on the ruins of an old barn and decorated to the highest standards of industrial chic. Situated in a most unique location, high on the Ribble Valley side of Lancashire’s iconic Pendle Hill, it sits surrounded by sheep pastures where hare and fox come to say good-night. Despite this rural idyll, we’re only a five minute car drive from Clitheroe, one of the North-West’s nicest market towns. The views will take your breath away!
In construction, we used the original barn stones as well as beams and structural parts that have been at Knowle Top for many decades. The open-plan living area is cosy yet modern, spacious and luxurious. The bedroom is a vision from a French chateau inside a high-ceilinged English barn. The ideal occupancy is two adults, but the sofa could be turned into an additional double-bed if needed.
The Ribble Valley is one of the U.K.’s best kept secrets. Within close distance of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, it has a little bit of everything, dramatic landscapes, soft rolling hills, picturesque little villages and also a cultural hub in the bustling market town of Clitheroe. The Ribble Valley is a food-lover’s heaven. 10% of Britain’s award winning gastro-pubs are located around Clitheroe. That’s the highest density outside of London.
  • Beautiful space, fantastic views, make sure you check the times for the sunset and don’t miss it. Very tastefully done, bring some bathbombs and champagne to make the most of the bath and the views across the countryside. Would love to come back in the summer! Thanks again.

  • Beautiful cottage, super hostess, friendly locals

    Waveney2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage - Lorraine had left me a birthday card and a bottle of Prosecco for when we arrived! Amazing hospitality and welcome. The place is nice - in particular the fire was lovely and there are some good walks super close by. You can hear through the wall quite clearly but Lorraine was clear that we could just knock on if there were any problems (which we didn’t have). Lovely area! Would stay again.

    Lucy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lorraine is a wonderful and helpful host The cottage is lovely . Very comfortable, well equipped and in a great location

    Anne2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. Lorraine provided us with milk, bread, butter and croissants for our first breakfast. All basic provisions were available too. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. As our stay was in July, we didn't need heating but the cottage was cosy and we could have had logs for the fire, if necessary. There was a pretty garden, with seating and easy parking, at the front of the property. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful, without being intrusive and as they lived next door, any queries were readily answered. We had an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay and intend to return on our next visit to Lancashire

    Lynne2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Special weekend me and my new fiancé, Lorraine was amazing from soon as we booked till we left. Don’t hesitate booking here it’s a lovely village and the cottage is warm and cosy.

  • The cottage and village are a perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the countryside. The facilities are well provided for and the local pubs are very good and reasonably priced. It is a first class location for walking and if you like a challenge cycling is also a must.

  • Susan and Steve have outstanding hospitality and are genuinely interested in people they host. I had a great stay and enjoyed their company. I took a train up to nelson from london and arrived quite late at around 10 pm on a friday. Steve and Susan offered to pick me up at the station which was really good of them. Not only that, Steve also drove me to barley for the fell race I was running on the Saturday! The house is honestly sparkling clean with attention to detail in the finishes and furniture. I loved my cosy room and had a great breakfast which set me up well for the tour de pendle race. Hope to stay again some time in the future :)

Barrowford is a thriving little Lancashire town, with quirky shops, great restaurants and bags to interest those who love the great outdoors. It’s also great for history buffs. You’ll be in the midst of Pendle with the superb Heritage Centre just 300 metres away. There’s wonderful countryside on the doorstep, waterways to follow and, of course, the iconic Pendle Hill, but everyone discovering somewhere new needs a great base, so that’s what we’re offering, right at the heart of Barrowford.
We’ve created a beautiful spacious double room which benefits from private access and a luxurious en-suite with a great shower. We’ve added a large screen HDTV and naturally, there’s wifi access. It’s warm, classy and surprisingly peaceful considering it’s so handy for all the local amenities.
Extremely pleasant neighbourhood within close proximity to several quality restaurants, bars and pubs. A wonderful Booths supermarket is only 150 yards, and the lovely green space of Barrowford Park is just 50 yards away.

It was sparkling clean, with a funky interior that was also really comfy, good shower, great bed etc. Could have just stayed in and chilled on both nights it was so relaxing. Nice touch of a welcome pack and good visitor info in cottage book. Sophie is a great host, they have obviously invested a lot of time and love into the cottage and their adjoining home. Park View is perfect for you and one or two friends who'll need a cosy room for a night or two. It has everything you'd need, three comfy single beds, a TV with Netflix, the essential kettle and access to a modern bathroom. The room also has a great view over-looking Barrowford Memorial Park. Clean, tidy and cosy sums it up nicely. Set on Gisburn Road 'Park View' can, on occasion, sometimes be subject to a little noise at the weekends.
If you’re touring, working or just snatching a quick break around the Pendle area, Barrowford is the ideal place to stay. We offer a great room with a fantastic view of Memorial Park, it's warm & cosy and if you don’t mind a few stairs you’ll find three comfy single beds and access to a beautiful modern bathroom. It’s the perfect set up for when you want to be out and about but need a base with shops, restaurants, and pubs nearby – and Barrowford is simply brilliant for small shops and cafés.

My cottage is in a beautiful village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are wonderful walks/cycling routes right from the front door. We are spoilt for choice as there are many fantastic pubs and restaurants close by. The market town of Clitheroe is only a couple of miles away with great bars, a variety of food options and of course, a castle. My place is suitable for couples, families, solo adventurers and business travellers.
My cottage is very cosy in Winter with a gas wood burning stove. Equally there is a lovely patio garden which guests are welcome to use in Summer time.
We live in an idyllic village environment in a residential area. My cottage is therefore not suitable for people who want to party all night. Respect for my neighbours is paramount and lack of it by my guests will not be tolerated.
  • Gill's place is a sweet escape to cosy cortege nestled in the countryside. The living room is comfortable, warm and cosy, and the kitchen has a decór that Cath Kidston would be proud of. The location is literally 10 steps to a Spar and Post office, and minutes to Clitheroe and other beautiful places. To top it all off, the shower is hot and strong after a day out walking!!

  • Lovely cottage in a great part of the world. Gill is a great host. Will definitely stay again.

  • Had a fantastic weekend at Gill’s! Arrived on Friday to a warm and cosy cottage in a quiet village - really easy to find! Was blown away by the attention to detail, the place has such character with a lovely modern twist. The whole house was spotless and we were happy to find some essentials for breakfast waiting in the kitchen for us! Beds were super comfy, excellent shower (could do with a lock on the bathroom door though!/couldn’t figure it out if it did), and basically we all had a fantastic weekend - only a 5-10 minute drive from the wedding venue that we were at on the Saturday night. Definitely recommend the pork pies and bacon from the butchers (less than a minute walk away)! Thank you so much Gill for your hospitality - highly recommend!

  • This cottage is stunning and full of character. We had such a lovely relaxing break here with friends and our young families. Gill was so welcoming and helpful and gave us some great advice so we could enjoy our stay and the surrounding area.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Gills place! Gill was the best host and welcomed us at the property. She even gave little christmas gifts to our children! Such a beautiful host and gorgeous property :D the space was perfect for us. The shop and pubs practically next door we’re a huge bonus too!

  • This is a brilliant place to stay - extremely stylish and comfortable. The pictures really don't do it justice. Also, well situated for local sight-seeing with good eating places and a shop just next door.

  • Great house at a reasonable price! The house was massive and more than accommodated our party of nine.

  • The place was great, lots of parking, great country side location, very clean. Would recommend to others, lovely Chinise at the end of the road (maybe jade fountain it was called) short drive to large supermarkets and town.

  • Very friendly, hospitable and responsive owner who made our stay so easy. And what comfortable beds! Fabulous house

    Nushi2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house with lovely surrounding area. Absolutely amazing hosting cellar and bar. James allowed delivery of hot tub from another supplier for the weekend. Quick responses and contact throughout weekend as required. My only advise is if hosting for large party to ensure you take large pots and pans with you if cooking, and if taking a baby / toddler you have to take a high chair and cot with you- Though there is plenty of space in each room for these and accommodation is safe and functional for children and adults. Highly recommended booking and likely to book again for future gatherings.

The additional touch of breakfast goodies was so useful and thoughtful. There is so much close at hand to explore in the town and it's a fab base to go walking in the surrounding countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return on the future without any hesitation.
