Places to stay in Old Mission Point

Places to stay in Old Mission Point
This apartment is located on a 26 acre vineyard in Northwest Michigan and is attached to our winery tasting room (WaterFire Vineyards). The vineyard sits atop a steep ridge that extends up from Torch Lake. It is 1/2 mile walk to Torch Lake or 5 minute drive to beaches on Lake Michigan. The deck has sweeping views of the vineyard and the space offers one queen bedroom, a kitchenette with oven and fridge, and a sitting area.
Please note that the apartment itself is private, but it is attached to our winery tasting room which is open to the public. You are welcome to share the common deck (used by winery customers) when the tasting room is open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm (private events may run later). When the tasting room is closed you will have the deck all to yourself and the building and area will be private. Be advised that this is a non-smoking property. Smoking on the premise is a violation of our state liquor license and we reserve the right to ask you to leave if you do not comply. The apartment is dog friendly, but your dog must be friendly too! Your dog should be comfortable meeting winery guests, staff, and our pup Finley. After all, we want your dog to have a good vacation too.
The property is well-recognized for it's privacy, tucked away among rolling hills. Sutter Road also is home to cattle and walnut farms. Following a secluded and winding road, guests can walk 1/2 mile down to Torch Lake where there is a public access for swimming and kayaking.
  • The space is very cozy and clean. The high ceilings throughout allowed for a lot of natural light. We LOVED that the Airbnb was pet friendly. The property is beautiful, and the tasting room is intimate and wonderfully decorated. As stated in the listing, the tasting room is directly attached to the Airbnb so music and mumbles can easily drift through the walls. It was not very disruptive of our stay, and it’s only during tasting room Open hours. Chantal was very helpful and responsive to messages before and during our stay. Ellis was very informative in the tasting room as well. She even answered some more technical questions we had about the property, grapes, and wine making process. She gave us a lot of suggestions for surrounding nature trails and dinner hot spots. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

  • The house was very nice, clean, and in a perfect location to visit multiple wineries. Unfortunately we did not expect to be sharing half the space with the owner. Our paths never crossed and there was no noise from his side so we were perfectly comfortable.

  • James we a great host. We had to book very last minute because we made a mistake with our initial plans but was very quick and easy to book with him. Place was cute and quiet. Thank you!

    Katie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • James has a very clean place within minutes of Ciccone winery which was why we went up to begin with for a wedding. It was enough space for the two of us for a couple of days and so close to downtown Sutton's Bay.

    Jenni2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jim’s place was clean, had free coffee and water, and was about 15 min away from downtown Traverse. Great value and a great stay!

  • Cute little place that’s nice and cozy and close to a lot of things. Mary and Rod were very nice and gave some good tips! Little snacks, Keurig coffee, and waters were a nice surprise. Place was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a great time!

  • We loved our little cabin. It was exactly what we were looking for. We were in town for a family reunion and it was perfect for us to come home to and get cozy after a long day. Had a little heater we’d turn on and it would get warm in no time. Also they had a kuereg with little coffee pods and creamer which was a life saver for me. They had a fire pit and told us we could help our self to wood but unfortunately never had the time. I would have totally loved to have a glass of wine by the fire though. Thanks again for the amazing hospitality & the beautiful cabin. We would love to come back.

  • If I could give Rod and Mary 10 stars, I would. We loved their cozy cottage. They had thought of pretty much everything they could have to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They were very friendly hosts and had a couple great local insider tips. The location is also in between 2 wineries, both of which are less than a 15 minute walk. I would not pass up an opportunity to stay here if you are in the area looking for a relaxing getaway.

    Patrick2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you enjoy wineries and need a quiet , quaint place to stay, look no further. We came up for a wedding in Northport, and found this lovely place. 12 minutes from Northport and Sutton’s Bay. We could walk to 2 wineries from our cottage. (45 and Aurora wineries). Very clean and you will need for nothing. Excellent hosts.

  • Ryan’s home is clean, cozy, and quiet! It’s a perfect getaway from the city or a nice stop on your way further north. His hospitality is amazing and his tips on local cuisine were useful! You can expect privacy and great care from Ryan’s home! A definite place to come back to!

    Maureen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s place is great for those looking for an up-north escape. We stayed two nights while skiing at boyne mountain and thought the place was perfect if you don’t mind a little bit of a drive. Ryan was a great host, he even messaged to check what kind of car we had to make sure we would easily be able to get up the driveway. He had extra sheets and towels for us, and additional toiletries Incase we forgot something. We didn’t use the kitchen but it seemed to have a lot of amenities in it as well. The bed was comfortable and the light from the windows was nice in the morning, but he also had blackout curtains if you would rather not be woken up by the sunlight. The room was very spacious! More than enough space for two of us. Huge thanks to Ryan!

    Skylar2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really great spot to crash for the value. A nice BIG bed in a very large room with a big screen TV. One great thoughtful touch was placing a fan on the night stand. I usually have to bring my own fan to block out noise in order to sleep. I forgot mine on this trip and wouldn't have gotten a good night sleep without that. Thanks Ryan!

    Cassidy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s hospitality makes staying at his home feel like you’re there visiting an old friend.  He’s fast to respond to any questions on-line, and in person makes you feel as a welcomed guest in his home.  The house is easy to find, located in a beautiful area of northern Michigan, and laid out and decorated in a manner that allows you to take a deep breath and just relax.  My son and I enjoyed our time there. We appreciated Ryan’s suggestions on restaurants and sights to see, and enjoyed our conversations with him.

    Rick2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • A nice place to stay. Very clean and warm.

    Kelly2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the place. It is very close to Torch Lake, maintained Beautifully by Ryan. Will recommend this place for sure.

    Nitish2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s home is definitely a treat! 100% recommended. Ryan helped carry our luggage to our room and was very friendly. He made us feel welcome with our puppy and gave us great tips for local eats. Our room was very welcoming with huge windows and a great view. We are so thankful we were able to stay here and it met all our needs. This space is perfectly located close enough to Traverse City and Elk Rapids. We would definitely visit again. Thanks, Ryan!

Easy cancellation policy if your plans change- see policy. Clean well-sanitized suite separate from other guest areas. Sleep breezy &cozy in the treetops, plus balcony seating. (Bring soft bags, spiral staircase is narrow). Full-size bed, ceiling fan, fridge, Firestick w/Hulu, fireplace, high speed Wifi, Keurig! Stroll to well-rated restaurants, pubs & cool shops. Near bike trail so bring yours or rent locally. Private garden shower/tub for just you. Gypsy tent in peaceful setting. Cat roams.
This is a magical place. When you arrive you'll parallel park in front and enter under the white arch. Ahead, past the umbrella tree, you will see a twig arch by the Gnome Rockery. Duck under the gnarled branches - ahead you will see a rustic door - open it and enter the solarium with plantings and a fireplace. Continue past the garden sink and open the pretty yellow-curtained door on the right - your spiral staircase is right there! Please understand, your en-suite shower and the commode are in compartmented nooks and do not provide total privacy from your sleeping area. There is a bird feeder by your balcony. I keep a covered container of seeds on hand and you are welcome to pour a bit more into the feeder, your call. It attracts birds of many species. You'll hear birds singing. Over 30 wineries and a national park are nearby. You can safely walk at night, streets and yards are tidy, people are friendly, and you may even start shopping for houses during your stay - it happens all the time. There is a Keurig with pods in your suite. The balcony and back deck are exclusively for your use as is the outdoor shower/tub and the gypsy tent.
Suttons Bay village is quaint and upscale. You can walk to everything from your suite and the house is on 3 wine trails - nearly 30 wineries - all with tasting rooms. Across the intersection is a landscaped village bayfront park with picnic tables, a nice shelter, grills, and a boat launch. Three blocks away is a public beach with lots of sand and a marina. It is next to our library. Cafes, boutiques, and galleries are all nearby. You are 40 scenic country minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park.
  • Great location! Walkable to the restaurants and shops in downtown Sutton's Bay and to the lakeshore.

  • The birds nest suite is quaint, cozy, and exactly what my boyfriend and I wanted for a weekend getaway. The location is perfectly set in downtown Sutton’s bay and made traveling to surrounding areas very easy. Jackie’s hospitality was unmatched and we definitely recommend this place!

    Michelle2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Jackie’s place for a weekend getaway. The space is very unique and set the stage for a fun weekend of biking and wine tasting. Downtown Sutton’s Bay is just a few blocks walk from the house and has some great restaurants and shops. We didn’t get a chance to meet Jackie while we were there, but she provided clear instructions on how to access the room and was very quick to respond to any messages. Highly recommend!

    James2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is such a fun get away! Jackie has really created a space that’s removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reminds you that you’re on vacation. The charming home, delicious breakfast, and amazing location all came together to create a really cool experience for our trip. We also loved getting to know her more. Would recommend :)

    Rachel2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is definitely one of a kind! Jackie is a wonderful host and made us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

    Janna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s home is a beautiful eclectic garden with many personal touches. You definitely feel at peace when you’re there. She provides breakfast in the form of (daily bought) local pastries, tea, and juice. This is a great b+b stay for anyone who loves gardens, nature, and art. The rooms do not have a/c as the house was built in the 1800’s, however Jackie has provided smaller ac/space heater fans in the Birds Nest. We stayed in the middle of August and were fine with the ceiling fan and the smaller unit. The bathroom and shower have doors but are open air, so if you’re staying with another person just make sure you’re comfortable doing business with them in the room (or kick them to the porch haha) I definitely recommend this place to people who want a quiet stay with lots of plants and people to talk to when you wish to. My boyfriend and I are college kids who happen to love gardens, so we had a great time, I mostly saw women 30+ staying there, and that’s probably the best demographic for this particular stay.

    Keely2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying here if traveling through Sutton's Bay. Jackie is a great host!

    Kyle2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a delightful adventure with Jackie. A nice and accommodating host. A wacky, eccentric décor at her place, was hilarious fun. Lovely breakfast touches. Even supplied some nice drinks in fridge to offset our parched arrival. We were exhibitors at Suttons Bay Art Festival. Jackie attended our booth and even purchased one of our hand made birdhouses for her Audubon Bird Nest Suite. She was very open to suggestions for future tenants. Lovely time. She even has a wonderful wee dog named Sassy, who loved us to the extreme. Best time in a strange new place.

    * SANITIZED and REMOTE. * This Little House has a remarkably BIG presence, with private views of forests and meadow. It has a roomy loft with plenty of headroom and a queen sized genuine Temper-pedic mattress. The bathroom has a full sized tile shower. The kitchen has a fridge, convection oven, electric tea kettle, Kurig and French Press. The living room is stocked with free books (take soe home) and games. A small table seats two for dining. There is a smart TV with ROKU and Netflix. 420 ok
The Little House sits high on a knoll overlooking a 4 acre meadow and lots of forest. It is nested between shade trees. My home and another cabin are on the property. Sharing 8 acres, gives all three residences privacy and a sense of the wild, while still being just 1/4 mile from M22 the main highway to all of the area's attractions. The bedroom is more spacious than most Tiny Houses but it is in a loft, so families with children need to take safety into account. 420 freindly outdoors. Legal in MI now. There is parking next to Little House, but it may not be navigable in winter so a hike of about 300 feet from the plowed parking space will be necessary. PLEASE NOTE: I do allow dogs in my rentals. I clean extra well after canine guests and supply a cover sheet and separate towels for the canines. But I cannot remove every trace so if you are very sensitive this may not be the place for you. I also open all windows to air the house out between all guests and for those with pollen allergies, this could be an issue. My dogs' yard is about 100 feet from the Little House. They are fenced in and will bark a few times to greet you (or if they see the deer, turkeys or squirrels), but are fenced in and should not disturb you. Please do not allow your dogs to approach the fence, it instigates friendly barking which many bother my neighbors. Although we are situated in conservative Northern Michigan, please know that I do welcome ALL guests, no matter the culture, gender or ethnic origin. This is a safe place for all. Peace and Love. Hurry! There are very few rentals available in central Leelanau County. Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Corky's Bistro, Tamarack Gallery, Knot Just a Bar, Blustone Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Blue Boat Coffee, Carlson's Fisheries, The Dam Candy Store, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries!
We are so lucky to be in beautiful Leelanau County. My eight acre property is secluded ( you cannot see any of my neighbors once on the property) yet close to the main highway. I live just above the Tribal Land, in a mixed neighborhood of farmhouses, modular, mobile homes and cottages. My neighbors are tidy, quiet and friendly. It is a VERY safe community, the EMT, fire station and police are nearby. Once a year, there is a community pick-up of large discarded items, and these are on the curb, making the neighborhood look distressed. Please excuse this once-a-year blight. Sound does carry, so I hope my guests take thin into consideration when using the outdoors.
  • Pam’s Tiny House was absolutely beautiful! The property had amazing sun light and beautiful views. Quiet nature bliss.

  • We loved the tiny house! It was the perfect place to stay at as we explored the Leelanau Peninsula for the weekend. The location is absolutely perfect for all of the wineries, hikes and exploring we planned for the weekend. It’s super easy to get to. There’s lots of land to run a dog if you bring one. We have an energetic Aussie and the house never felt too small. It stays warm through the night and all amenities were just right! Pam was communicative and we had no issues getting in. We definitely want to come back in summer. Highly recommend this for solo and couples/small family getaways!

    Lindsey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Another wonderful stay at the Tiny House! Pamela is a hospitable host - great with communicating about the slick driveway thanks to the melting snow, turned up the heat before our arrival so we would be comfortable, and has so many personal touches in the space. We will definitely be back!

    Haley2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela was a great host at the tiny house! We were there for the first big snowfall of the season, and she was easy to communicate with to make sure we made it safely and had a place to park. The tiny house was the perfect spot for us while visiting family who live just up the road. It was peaceful, clean, and cozy. Plus we got to bring our dog! We’ll definitely be back soon.

One of the best views on Leelanau Peninsula. Unique property 5 minutes from SB and 10 minutes from TC. Conveniently located 1 mile from the TART Bike Trail and within 4 miles of 6 wineries. The interior was newly renovated in 2019. The Mezzanine has 2 queen beds and we also have a queen & twin inflatable bed if you require more sleeping space.
Suttons Bay is charming, many boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. We also have two beaches nearby plus Lake Leelanau and the beaches in Traverse City. Boat, SUP, Kayak, Canoe Rentals are all available. Plus a public boat access is 1.5 miles down the street. The list is endless, please ask, we will find the activity, Michigan is rich in adventure!
  • The dome house is immaculately clean and has all the comforts of home. You could cook or bake anything you’d like in the kitchen. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of pillows and a couple throw blankets for relaxing by the fireplace (make sure you turn it off before bed or the dome will be hot!) You have a view of the ENTIRE bay and there is plenty of room for relaxation on the patio. Terry and Jill were incredibly kind and came down to show us how to use everything. The whole dome is covered in windows so it is not very private, but perfect for a platonic getaway :). We would definitely recommend.

The mini dome is spotless, high end stylish yet comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay! This is the best experience we have ever had with Airbnb and we can’t wait to return! Thank you!!

  • Very unique dome house. Has large glass windows and doors that provide great views of the bay, while also providing necessary privacy. Modern amenities that have been very well maintained. The house is sparkling clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They helped us with moving our car when it ran into trouble. There is a cozy fireplace, next to a TV and sofa and you could spend your entire day there. A great place to relax regardless of the weather or season.

  • If you are looking for a unique place to stay I recommend Debbie's Sunset Tiny House. The Sunset Tiny House was incredible and difficult to leave because it is so charming! It was perfect for us to reconnect and feel at ease in such a great place. Debbie offered plenty of helpful tips and the entire property is set up for giving guests an incredible experience.

  • If you’re looking to stay a long weekend, this is the place to do it. It may be a “tiny house” but it felt like home for a few days. It was very clean and pretty spacious for 2 people. The outdoor bar area was so awesome and hot tub was a very cool touch.

    Austin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Tiny House. It was a great location with easy access to the lake. A lot of nice little perks were included (such as kayaks, furnished outdoor space, and a hot tub) that made the stay very relaxing. I would definitely recommend it to others and would consider re-booking in the future. Would be a great place to stay with a small group when the other onsite properties are available.

    Peter2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place!

    Pat2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute tiny house, very centrally located. Keep in mind no kitchen however plenty of great food options near by. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the metal ladder is a bit hard on the feet but the bed is worth it. The TV was a bonus with all the viewing options .

    Michelle2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was a very cool set up in a camp like setting with two other tiny houses. Our particular house had a private inflatable jacuzzi which was pretty convincing and a nice treat after the beach. The house was well equipped with just enough to prepare light meals and prep for cooking on the grill. The communal deck with grill, gas fire pit and bar with chairs served as a cooking and dining space in the evening, and the hosts provided ample wood for a nightly campfire. Two nice touches were a frozen pizza and fixings for smores. I expected that the bed would be a ladder climb and I was right. There were handles that made it fairly easy for balance. There was also an option to fold out the couch for a slightly larger than twin bed. The location was across from Torch lake for Kayak access, but not a good spot for swimming due to large stones. The host provided several beach options and the closest was only a 4 minute drive.

    Kimberly2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny home is a perfect place to stay for visiting Torch Lake. It’s close to wineries, breweries and boat rentals. We truly enjoyed staying here.

Enjoy one of our recently remodeled cottages at historic Paradise Pines Resort in the charming village of Elk Rapids. We are working to restore all 11 unique cottages nestled on 5 wooded acres. We are conveniently located on the edge of town and across a quiet, 2-lane road from a public day park with Grand Traverse Bay access. Walk or bike to town for shopping, restaurants, a theater and so much more, or drive to nearby Traverse City or Charlevoix for wineries, breweries, and festivals!
Cottage 4 was completely remodeled in 2018. Everything from the custom wood flooring, to the electrical/plumbing, to the furniture is new or re-purposed. This cottage is one bedroom with a queen bed, perfect for 1-2 people. The bathroom has a custom tiled step in shower. Enjoy a full-sized electric range, fridge/freezer, sink, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker in the kitchen. Plates, bowls, cups, mugs, wine glasses, and silverware is provided. Cooking utensils, pots, pans, mixing bowls, etc. are also provided. To ensure guest comfort there is an in-wall heat/AC unit and a fan.
We are in the quaint harbor town of Elk Rapids. The town offers a large public beach, antique shopping, galleries, a distillery, brewery, movie theater and several restaurants. Our Friday market features fresh local produce and crafts. Antrim County Day Park is directly across the street from us with a beach on Grand Traverse Bay, bathrooms, wooded trails, outdoor art exhibits, and a large covered pavilion with picnic tables and grills.
  • Cottage 4 is super cute and had everything we needed for a short weekend stay. It’s renovated well, using the space smartly while still providing all the necessary amenities. The setting was beautiful with the fall leaves in full color, and the location was great for our nearby conference and riding over to Old Mission Peninsula for a little wine tasting. Lisa was timely and responsive with her communications. I’d happily stay again!

  • A beautiful spot in a great location in Elk Rapids! Spotless with great furnishings, just across the street from the lake.

  • Great location! Super cozy cottage.

    Tyler2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quiet hideaway. We stayed in cottage # 4 and felt comfortable all around. Everything has been lovingly and thoughtfully renovated and equipped. The kitchen is really equipped with all necessary utensils, even a few spices were available. We liked to stay there. The bed is comfortable and even has, if you like, a massage function. There are private loungers and a seat in front of or next to the cottage. The location is quiet and in a few minutes you are in ELkRapids. The hosts Lisa and her husband are extremely nice and helpful. All cottages are perfectly renovated by themselves. We would come back anytime.

    Rolf2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing time over Labor Day weekend (we stayed in Cottage #4). The cottage has been beautifully renovated and is incredibly comfortable and well-appointed. The resort is literally across the road from a secluded beach on Grand Traverse Bay, perfect for hunting Petoskey stones after breakfast (we found so many!) and enjoying gorgeous sunsets in the evening. And it's less than a 5 minute bike ride into town. We loved every minute of our stay here. We will definitely be back!

    Jennifer2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect location. We enjoyed downtown Elk Rapids and it was only a 15-20 min drive to downtown TC. Each evening we made it back to the cabin in just enough time to go across the street and see the most amazing sunsets. The cabin was spacious and clean. Perfect for just the two of us or even an extra on the couch if needed. It was exactly what we needed and exceeded our expectation. The owners have put tons of love and skill into each cabin updated so far. They were even kind enough to let us tour a couple of the others. Some of the other units are a bit bigger and have a couple of bedrooms made for bigger groups. This place would be perfect for family vacations or even multiple family’s to rent and stay next to each other. We will most definitely be back. Our favorite place in Elk Rapids was the bar Ethanology. And our favorite place in TC was Georginas. Oh and we caught a movie at the State Theater! And as always the shops on Front street are great. Make sure to take the drive up the light house. Great calm beach to enjoy.

  • I stayed in Cottage 4 to celebrate my birthday weekend and it was perfect. The location is amazing. A short walk to the rocky shoreline, a super short drive to downtown Elk Rapids and only 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City. The house was super clean, and the owners thought of every amenity. The shared space is very fun with a fire pit, and games. They hosts were very responsive and made us feel welcome all weekend. I highly recommend and can’t wait to book another trip back to Paradise Pines.

  • It was an amazing experience at the beautiful, cozy cabin. It was a very relaxing and rejuvenating weekend, for me and my wife. Pictures don't do justice to the place. It has quite an old school vibe, which feels amazing. Alyssa let us stay extend the checkout time, ok a Happy Sunny day without any extra cost even. If you are looking for a rejuvenating, lazy holiday, then go for it, without thinking twice.

  • We have stayed at Alyssa's cabin multiple times and we love it there. Particularly the vicinity to the Coy Mountain hiking trail. Would highly recommend this cabin if you enjoy hiking and the outdoors!

  • The cabin is rustc and perfect, and in such a wonderful location! The view of the lake from the cabin and the Coy trail is breathtaking! Alyssa is a wonderful host- she was quick to respond and very hospitable! This was our second time staying there and it exceeded our expectations again!

The Bach, (pr.“batch”), is a stand alone cabin on the east shore of Torch Lake in Michigan. We call it The Bach because it is in the style of New Zealand's hillside “Baches”. Our shortest rental period is one week. Our rental week goes from Saturday to Saturday. This is a change from previous years. It puts our rental in line with weekly rentals in our area.
Between our cabin and the shore of Torch Lake there is an abandon railroad berm. We do not own that land, (our neighbor does), so The Bach does not have private water frontage. Our swimming access is 2/10 of a mile north. The beach is wide and sandy. Torch is cold and crystal clear. Our cabin is 400 sq. ft. It has only one bedroom with a queen bed. It also has a kitchen, dining area, living room and bathroom with a shower. On the road side there is an enclosed porch and on the waterside there is an outdoor deck and barbecue. Our shortest rental period is one week. Our rental week goes from Saturday to Saturday. This is a change from previous years. It puts our rental week in line with weekly rentals in our area. The Bach is just over a mile south of the Clam River. At the river there is another swimming beach, boat slips, rentals, and a hopp'n summer bar called the “Dockside”. Bikes are a good fit in our area. It is a 50 mile ride around Torch Lake. The Glacial Hills Pathway is making a name for itself in mountain biking, along with Shorts Brewery in Bellaire. Mackinaw Island is about 75 miles to the north with Charlevoix and Petoskey along the way. Traverse City is the closest bigger city at about 35 miles, but our little jewel of Alden is less than 3 miles.
  • The Bach was a very nice little place to stay. Location was great, part way between Alden and Bellaire. It sits back a little from the road so there is a little privacy. It was clean and had everything we needed including towels, appliances, tips, etc. Would stay here again if it is just two of us again.

    Andy2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for boating the lakes. Ken gave great tips about local activities.

    Don2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second year in a row, staying at the Bach. I love it!

    Annie2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Cute cottage, comfortable bed, kitchen had everything we needed. We would come back and stay there again!!

  • This place is truly amazing and Ken is a great host!

    Heidi2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • I loved The Bach, and can’t wait to go back next summer. It’s quiet, clean, simple, great views of water and woods, and a short walk to Torch Lakes magical water. Close to the town of Alden for coffee and wine, dinner, shopping and water sports. Close to Traverse City for my job for the week. The Bach is lovely and do reasonably priced. I can’t wait for next summer!

    Annie2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get some reading done! Nice getaway!

    Kalvin2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I concur with the gentleman about the Bach. I almost don’t want to leave an outstanding review because the Bach is one if the best kept secrets on the east side of Torch Lake I have found. Ken and Kathy were very accommodating. They quickly answered every question I had and even supplied my “special requests”. I will definitely be back every year Lord willing. It was the perfect quiet retreat I was anticipating! See you next year !

Our cute little home is set back far off the road, surrounded by trees and wildlife. It’s not unusual to see deer in the yard, blue heron in the pond, or our resident hummingbirds on the bee balm. Great for colorful, cool fall days by the campfire. And your stack of summer books in the hammock. 📚
Hi! We are Andrew, Maggy, and Fern. This is our home. It has changed and grown with us over the years and now we want to share it with you. Since I was a young girl, I’ve loved this house. My dad helped build it for our new neighbor back in 1995. I spent summer evenings here drinking half frozen vernors around the campfire and watching SciFi movies. This place has been fortunate to be loved by a string of great people, which began with Kevin. An artist from New York City, who fell in love with this area and decided to build this little summer home. He spent nearly twenty years summering here, and wintering, when he just couldn’t take the busyness of the city. You’ll notice sculptures and some of his paintings peppered around the home and property. Our family came next. We transformed the home from the sweet little man cave it was into a place where our family could live and entertain comfortably, and warmly! (There was just a small wood stove when we bought the place!) When our family moved on to the next phase of life, we were fortunate to find two fantastic farmers who loved the home and land while we couldn’t. They transformed the place into one that provides heathy food for so many more people. You’ll see these two farmers out growing in the field and hoophouse now, so please say hello. They are part of this story. Now we welcome you into this little summer home’s story. Enjoy it. Love it even! Please leave it better than you found it. That is part of this little home’s legacy. The home has tile floors in the downstairs, so it stays quite cool and comfortable during the summer. The floors are heated for cool fall days and cozy winter nights. Our family adores winter nights, snuggling down with hot chocolate and good books as the snow falls outside. The upstairs is the sleeping area (with ac unit) with a queen bed on one end of the loft and a sofa bed on the other. There is also a balcony upstairs, great for stargazing or a morning coffee. Our Little House is a great place to visit during any season. The summer we have lakes and beaches, ice cream you can walk to, and a garden for reading and campfires. Fall brings intense colors, cool evenings, more campfires, and hot coffee in the garden. Winter is our family favorite season - cross-country skiing on our little trails or some of the local trails (Glacial Hills, Shanty Creek, North Street Trail), downhill skiing (Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain, Boyne Mountain, Mt. McSauba), ice skating (local lakes, Mt. McSauba), snowmobiling, ice fishing, and early nights reading the stacks of books we’ve been meaning to get to, recovering from a busy summer. Spring is about the flowers! Tulips, daffodils, lilacs, and getting excited cause we all know summer is just around the corner!
We’ve got the coolest farm around- veggies, cut flowers, chicks, and two handsome, tubby goats. We might be biased, but you can walk to the ice cream shop and library from where we are. It’s less than a mile to town, where you’ll find Mammoth Distillery for the adults and Fudgees ice cream for the kids! Central Lake also has a great grocery store with just about everything you might need!
  • This place is wonderful. It was just what we were looking for. Nice and secluded away from the busy city life we are use to. The cabin was very clean and wonderful inside and out!

    Joseph2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was spotless and cozy. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maggie's cabin. The duck and chicken greated us every morning at the door! 😋. The bed was very comfortable and the personal touches were thoughtful. We toured 1914 cellars and got a few more tips about local spots for lunch and dinner options. We loved our time there!

    Kevin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The space was charming, the hosts were extremely hospitable and the area was beautiful. Highly recommend!

  • Lovely little escape!

    Chelsea2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place! My husband and I really enjoyed going into town to the Mammoth distillery for a drink and coming back to sit by the fire. Good location, not too far from all the lakes!

    Alissa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Felt like kids again spending our last summer hurrah. The place looks small but is open and spacious once you walk in! Super clean, cute home with all the kitchen amenities for a dinner night in. Loved waking up a few times the roosters and having a coffee in the mornings watching the hummingbirds fly by! We stopped by a handful of the local joints they suggested, like “Bee Well” (our favorite!). We ended the trip with a nice fire which warmed us up for the night as we ate s’mores. They work hard to keep the stay comfortable and easy.. we are definitely coming back!

    Loretta2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely fell in love with this place! The hosts were amazing and quick to respond. Had lots of recommendations for places to go which was very helpful. The area in general is beautiful and lots of things to do around the area!

    Chloe2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house and garden is even more beautiful than the pictures show! We had a lovely time, and Maggy was great to communicate with. We cooked, and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary tools. We wish we could've spent more than two nights!

  • If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat away from the busyness, look no further than Mary’s place. Firstly, the location on torch lake is beautiful. The room itself is so cozy but spacious, with everything you could need for a long weekend getaway. We were there in the fall but during the summer there are kayaks and a nice beach area to enjoy! When we weren’t out and about, the room was a welcome retreat to curl up with a book and listen to the waves. Our first night was met with delicious cookies from Mary and a nice guide to the area with her favorite recommendations. We had the pleasure of visiting with Mary and her husband one evening and could have talked to them for hours. They are genuinely kindhearted people with a gift for hospitality and will make your feel right at home while also respecting your privacy. Highly recommend. Thank you so much Mary! We hope to be back!!!

Not to mention, the flowers, bird feeders, and personalized welcome sign added a wonderful touch! The best part about this Airbnb is location, location, location. While private and quiet, it is just minutes away from several towns, Omena, Northport and Suttons Bay. And, just a short easy drive to Leland, Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, the Lighthouse and more. The hosts were responsive and very thoughtful in their interaction with me. Thanks for everything!

  • WOW! What an amazing place to stay. Vince and Kristy went above and beyond. Kristy checked on our dogs when we went into town for groceries the first evening. Vince let my husband borrow a tool for our car. Always responded to my texts super quick. Got us more supplies if we needed it and offered us use of their oven and washer and dryer in their home. My husband and I had an amazing anniversary trip with our dogs. Vince and Kristy exceeded our expectations. We look forward to staying there again!

  • The Stone House is small but beautifully appointed. The owners have great taste in everything in and around the home. Relax on a beautiful patio surrounded by flowers. Their location is minutes from "downtown" Lake Leelanau, where we enjoyed afternoon cocktails at the Northern Latitudes Distillery. It's centrally located on the peninsula with easy access to everything you'd want to do.

    Jay2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect place to stay during our wedding week! Thank you!

    Becky2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A central location; easy to bounce around the area from, yet the property was quiet, peaceful, and has beautiful landscaping :) A stylish place that had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would come here again!

    Stephanie2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spot; the pictures I don’t do it justice! This is a serene location with great access to all the peninsula has to offer...without being in the middle of the busy beach towns. The landscaping was beautiful and offered a quiet place to relax. Kristy and Vince have an eye for beauty and that comes out in the details of their spaces. It was fun to meet their friendly dogs. I have dog trauma and the hosts were happy to keep them leashed, but it wasn’t necessary since the pups are so pleasant.

*SANITIZED and REMOTE* The cabin is rustic with recycled and used items, but I do use bleach and Lysol. I do welcome ALL guests of any culture, gender or ethnic origin. This is a safe place for all. Peace and Love. 420 PLEASE note; I DO allow dogs. I do clean carefully between guests and ask that an extra sheet be used if dogs are here. I supply towels for dogs. But I cannot remove every trace and I have dogs myself. So if you are very sensitive, this may not be the right rental for you.
This one room style cabin has been updated with a walk-in terrazzo tile shower, bamboo floors. Featuring a full kitchen with cherry counter tops, Motawi tile and a two burner cook-top. You'll have all cooking and serving supplies. And you'll rest well on a queen sized Celeste pillow-top memory foam bed by the fireplace. Find the shelves stocked with books by and about local characters. FREE BOOKS< take some home. There are board games and cards too. Didn't finish the book? Take it with you! Cabin is 420 friendly (outdoors). Michigan is legal now. I also have a brand new luxury Tiny House, if you want to take a peek at it the listing is: Little House of Leelanau: A Big Little Retreat You will feel as if you are in a secluded hideaway yet, just minutes away from Omena, Sutton's Bay, Leland and Northport. The local art theater, casino, fishing village, galleries and wineries are just 10 minutes away, and you are only 30 minutes from "America's most beautiful spot" Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Available by the night, weekend, or week. In June through September, you can pick your own blueberries in the meadow, right outside the cabin. There is also fire pit and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking for your boat. The queen bed sleeps two, but children may use sleeping bags if you wish to bring the family. I hav just added a Smart TV with ROKU. Our internet speed is not fast, but you can stream movies, etc. weather, news, TV, etc. Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Tamarack Gallery, Circa Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, 9 Bean Rows, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Carlson's Fisheries, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries! I have posted my favorites in the directory. If you do NOT see a restaurant or winery in there it could be because I do NOT recommend it. Some of the busiest ones are tourist traps. They serve generic frozen meals at high prices and poor service. I will not name them here, but if you do not see them in my directory, that could be why. I have been in the industry and also know which ones are clean. I'm happy to discuss further. Just ask. Owner lives in separate dwelling on property and is available for extra needs and suggestions. My adult son also lives here, and my fenced dogs, so security is never a problem. I have just added a Tiny House to my property. It is not visible from the inside of the Studio and it has its own parking, camp fire and outdoor area.
My neighbors are quiet and pleasant. There is a mix of types of homes: farmhouse, stickbuilt, mobile, modular, artisan and cabins.
  • This is a very nice getaway. Great place, very comfortable, has all you need to relax and disconnect.

  • As always, Pamela was a wonderful hostess and her studio was exactly what we needed to relax and refresh away from the busy city. Beautiful drive up to her property, and quick drive to Leland and Sutton’s Bay downtown. This was our 3rd time staying at the studio, and we will be back! Thanks again, Pamela!

    Emily2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay at Pamela’s Studio! It was the perfect weekend retreat for us and our pup! Can’t wait to come back in the Summer time!

  • The studio is a beautiful place, with just the right amenities for a lovely getaway. We typically cook breakfast in and maybe a dinner, the rest of our trips are spent exploring & eating out so this was a perfect spot for us! The studio has a lovely little kitchen area for making a quick breakfast. The bathroom shower is beautiful and huge; my 6’2” husband really appreciated it!

    Susan2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. We had the most cozy wonderful time.

    Susan2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio was everything it was advertised as. Clean, quiet, in a beautiful setting, conveniently located. We would go back here in a second.

    Michael2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet, relaxing, small place to stay that is close enough to whatever you would like to do. We enjoyed brining our dogs with us!

  • The Clam Cottage was a wonderful and peaceful place. My family and I loved the cottage feel inside. The outside was great; you can relax on the dock, the decks or around the fire pit. The neighborhood was very quiet. And Clam Lake is gorgeous! Plenty of space for multiple guests. The beds were very comfortable and clean. Check in and check out were a breeze, and Mark was very helpful and easily available if we had any questions. I will definitely be coming back to Mark's place on Clam Lake and would certainly recommend others try this place out!

This 1904 home has been loved by our family for more than 40 years. It's decorated with a fun mixture of farmhouse, vintage, and whimsical artistry to welcome guests. The upstairs is open and spacious with a tricky old staircase! The downstairs has a full kitchen, living area has a cozy electric fireplace, and the bathroom is sparkling brand new. With the exception of marble tile in the bathroom and vintage flooring in the kitchen, there are original wood floors throughout the home.
This turn of the century home will take you back in time...when there was no internet! In place of WiFi, we offer a Victrola record player and collection of vinyls for you to experience and a tv with local channels...or you can enjoy your own tunes on the Bluetooth option on the "modern" Victrola. Our "off the grid" location invites you to kick back on the front porch, back porch or large yard and just enjoy each other's company. Our village population is less than 1,000, so our streets are quiet for strolling, biking, or running. Within walking distance, is Intermediate Lake with docks for fishing, a park for play, small town shopping and dining. Lake Michigan, Torch Lake, Glacial Hills Nature Trails, Breweries, Distilleries, Wineries, ski resorts and snowmobile trails are all within 10 miles. Check out the bulletin board in the kitchen for local events scheduled during your stay that might interest you, and a list of where to find amenities you may need during your stay. And yes....the little shoe on display in the living room with the soul worn through, was found within the upstairs walls when the lathe and plaster was removed for remodel. Makes you wonder how many little pairs of feet wore that shoe and reminds us of how fortunate we are today!
Central Lake is a quiet little town with a population of approximately 950. We have no traffic lights and we're surrounded by a chain of lakes, forest, orchards, and farms. Several children live in the neighborhood and the elementary school is right across the street. We're minutes from boat launches on Intermediate and Torch Lake...both of which have sandbars to anchor and play. Also minutes from Lake Michigan beaches and several wooded trails to explore.
  • We really enjoyed the space, and we especially enjoyed the record player and old-timey decorations!

    Zeke2020-03-07T00:00:00Z

  • What a magical house! We wanted a place to stay for one night, so we could enjoy Short’s Brewing and some fatbiking at Glacial Hills. Robin’s home was so comfortable and delightfully decorated. We felt so welcomed. There were so many thoughtful touches. We enjoyed in the evening in the tv room and slept so well. Robin communicated quickly and check-in/out was a breeze. Highly recommend. We look forward to a longer stay in the near future.
