Places to stay in Old Mission

Places to stay in Old Mission
This apartment is located on a 26 acre vineyard in Northwest Michigan and is attached to our winery tasting room (WaterFire Vineyards). The vineyard sits atop a steep ridge that extends up from Torch Lake. It is 1/2 mile walk to Torch Lake or 5 minute drive to beaches on Lake Michigan. The deck has sweeping views of the vineyard and the space offers one queen bedroom, a kitchenette with oven and fridge, and a sitting area.
Please note that the apartment itself is private, but it is attached to our winery tasting room which is open to the public. You are welcome to share the common deck (used by winery customers) when the tasting room is open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm (private events may run later). When the tasting room is closed you will have the deck all to yourself and the building and area will be private. Be advised that this is a non-smoking property. Smoking on the premise is a violation of our state liquor license and we reserve the right to ask you to leave if you do not comply. The apartment is dog friendly, but your dog must be friendly too! Your dog should be comfortable meeting winery guests, staff, and our pup Finley. After all, we want your dog to have a good vacation too.
The property is well-recognized for it's privacy, tucked away among rolling hills. Sutter Road also is home to cattle and walnut farms. Following a secluded and winding road, guests can walk 1/2 mile down to Torch Lake where there is a public access for swimming and kayaking.
  • The space is very cozy and clean. The high ceilings throughout allowed for a lot of natural light. We LOVED that the Airbnb was pet friendly. The property is beautiful, and the tasting room is intimate and wonderfully decorated. As stated in the listing, the tasting room is directly attached to the Airbnb so music and mumbles can easily drift through the walls. It was not very disruptive of our stay, and it’s only during tasting room Open hours. Chantal was very helpful and responsive to messages before and during our stay. Ellis was very informative in the tasting room as well. She even answered some more technical questions we had about the property, grapes, and wine making process. She gave us a lot of suggestions for surrounding nature trails and dinner hot spots. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

  • James has a very clean place within minutes of Ciccone winery which was why we went up to begin with for a wedding. It was enough space for the two of us for a couple of days and so close to downtown Sutton's Bay.

One of the best views on Leelanau Peninsula. Unique property 5 minutes from SB and 10 minutes from TC. Conveniently located 1 mile from the TART Bike Trail and within 4 miles of 6 wineries. The interior was newly renovated in 2019. The Mezzanine has 2 queen beds and we also have a queen & twin inflatable bed if you require more sleeping space.
Suttons Bay is charming, many boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. We also have two beaches nearby plus Lake Leelanau and the beaches in Traverse City. Boat, SUP, Kayak, Canoe Rentals are all available. Plus a public boat access is 1.5 miles down the street. The list is endless, please ask, we will find the activity, Michigan is rich in adventure!
  • The dome house is immaculately clean and has all the comforts of home. You could cook or bake anything you’d like in the kitchen. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of pillows and a couple throw blankets for relaxing by the fireplace (make sure you turn it off before bed or the dome will be hot!) You have a view of the ENTIRE bay and there is plenty of room for relaxation on the patio. Terry and Jill were incredibly kind and came down to show us how to use everything. The whole dome is covered in windows so it is not very private, but perfect for a platonic getaway :). We would definitely recommend.

  • Very unique dome house. Has large glass windows and doors that provide great views of the bay, while also providing necessary privacy. Modern amenities that have been very well maintained. The house is sparkling clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They helped us with moving our car when it ran into trouble. There is a cozy fireplace, next to a TV and sofa and you could spend your entire day there. A great place to relax regardless of the weather or season.

Easy cancellation policy if your plans change- see policy. Clean well-sanitized suite separate from other guest areas. Sleep breezy &cozy in the treetops, plus balcony seating. (Bring soft bags, spiral staircase is narrow). Full-size bed, ceiling fan, fridge, Firestick w/Hulu, fireplace, high speed Wifi, Keurig! Stroll to well-rated restaurants, pubs & cool shops. Near bike trail so bring yours or rent locally. Private garden shower/tub for just you. Gypsy tent in peaceful setting. Cat roams.
This is a magical place. When you arrive you'll parallel park in front and enter under the white arch. Ahead, past the umbrella tree, you will see a twig arch by the Gnome Rockery. Duck under the gnarled branches - ahead you will see a rustic door - open it and enter the solarium with plantings and a fireplace. Continue past the garden sink and open the pretty yellow-curtained door on the right - your spiral staircase is right there! Please understand, your en-suite shower and the commode are in compartmented nooks and do not provide total privacy from your sleeping area. There is a bird feeder by your balcony. I keep a covered container of seeds on hand and you are welcome to pour a bit more into the feeder, your call. It attracts birds of many species. You'll hear birds singing. Over 30 wineries and a national park are nearby. You can safely walk at night, streets and yards are tidy, people are friendly, and you may even start shopping for houses during your stay - it happens all the time. There is a Keurig with pods in your suite. The balcony and back deck are exclusively for your use as is the outdoor shower/tub and the gypsy tent.
Suttons Bay village is quaint and upscale. You can walk to everything from your suite and the house is on 3 wine trails - nearly 30 wineries - all with tasting rooms. Across the intersection is a landscaped village bayfront park with picnic tables, a nice shelter, grills, and a boat launch. Three blocks away is a public beach with lots of sand and a marina. It is next to our library. Cafes, boutiques, and galleries are all nearby. You are 40 scenic country minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park.
  • Great location! Walkable to the restaurants and shops in downtown Sutton's Bay and to the lakeshore.

  • The birds nest suite is quaint, cozy, and exactly what my boyfriend and I wanted for a weekend getaway. The location is perfectly set in downtown Sutton’s bay and made traveling to surrounding areas very easy. Jackie’s hospitality was unmatched and we definitely recommend this place!

    Michelle2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Jackie’s place for a weekend getaway. The space is very unique and set the stage for a fun weekend of biking and wine tasting. Downtown Sutton’s Bay is just a few blocks walk from the house and has some great restaurants and shops. We didn’t get a chance to meet Jackie while we were there, but she provided clear instructions on how to access the room and was very quick to respond to any messages. Highly recommend!

    James2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is such a fun get away! Jackie has really created a space that’s removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reminds you that you’re on vacation. The charming home, delicious breakfast, and amazing location all came together to create a really cool experience for our trip. We also loved getting to know her more. Would recommend :)

    Rachel2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is definitely one of a kind! Jackie is a wonderful host and made us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

    Janna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s home is a beautiful eclectic garden with many personal touches. You definitely feel at peace when you’re there. She provides breakfast in the form of (daily bought) local pastries, tea, and juice. This is a great b+b stay for anyone who loves gardens, nature, and art. The rooms do not have a/c as the house was built in the 1800’s, however Jackie has provided smaller ac/space heater fans in the Birds Nest. We stayed in the middle of August and were fine with the ceiling fan and the smaller unit. The bathroom and shower have doors but are open air, so if you’re staying with another person just make sure you’re comfortable doing business with them in the room (or kick them to the porch haha) I definitely recommend this place to people who want a quiet stay with lots of plants and people to talk to when you wish to. My boyfriend and I are college kids who happen to love gardens, so we had a great time, I mostly saw women 30+ staying there, and that’s probably the best demographic for this particular stay.

    Keely2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend staying here if traveling through Sutton's Bay. Jackie is a great host!

    Kyle2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a delightful adventure with Jackie. A nice and accommodating host. A wacky, eccentric décor at her place, was hilarious fun. Lovely breakfast touches. Even supplied some nice drinks in fridge to offset our parched arrival. We were exhibitors at Suttons Bay Art Festival. Jackie attended our booth and even purchased one of our hand made birdhouses for her Audubon Bird Nest Suite. She was very open to suggestions for future tenants. Lovely time. She even has a wonderful wee dog named Sassy, who loved us to the extreme. Best time in a strange new place.

  • Ryan’s home is clean, cozy, and quiet! It’s a perfect getaway from the city or a nice stop on your way further north. His hospitality is amazing and his tips on local cuisine were useful! You can expect privacy and great care from Ryan’s home! A definite place to come back to!

    Maureen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s place is great for those looking for an up-north escape. We stayed two nights while skiing at boyne mountain and thought the place was perfect if you don’t mind a little bit of a drive. Ryan was a great host, he even messaged to check what kind of car we had to make sure we would easily be able to get up the driveway. He had extra sheets and towels for us, and additional toiletries Incase we forgot something. We didn’t use the kitchen but it seemed to have a lot of amenities in it as well. The bed was comfortable and the light from the windows was nice in the morning, but he also had blackout curtains if you would rather not be woken up by the sunlight. The room was very spacious! More than enough space for two of us. Huge thanks to Ryan!

    Skylar2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really great spot to crash for the value. A nice BIG bed in a very large room with a big screen TV. One great thoughtful touch was placing a fan on the night stand. I usually have to bring my own fan to block out noise in order to sleep. I forgot mine on this trip and wouldn't have gotten a good night sleep without that. Thanks Ryan!

    Cassidy2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s hospitality makes staying at his home feel like you’re there visiting an old friend.  He’s fast to respond to any questions on-line, and in person makes you feel as a welcomed guest in his home.  The house is easy to find, located in a beautiful area of northern Michigan, and laid out and decorated in a manner that allows you to take a deep breath and just relax.  My son and I enjoyed our time there. We appreciated Ryan’s suggestions on restaurants and sights to see, and enjoyed our conversations with him.

  • We absolutely loved the place. It is very close to Torch Lake, maintained Beautifully by Ryan. Will recommend this place for sure.

  • Ryan’s home is definitely a treat! 100% recommended. Ryan helped carry our luggage to our room and was very friendly. He made us feel welcome with our puppy and gave us great tips for local eats. Our room was very welcoming with huge windows and a great view. We are so thankful we were able to stay here and it met all our needs. This space is perfectly located close enough to Traverse City and Elk Rapids. We would definitely visit again. Thanks, Ryan!

    * SANITIZED and REMOTE. * This Little House has a remarkably BIG presence, with private views of forests and meadow. It has a roomy loft with plenty of headroom and a queen sized genuine Temper-pedic mattress. The bathroom has a full sized tile shower. The kitchen has a fridge, convection oven, electric tea kettle, Kurig and French Press. The living room is stocked with free books (take soe home) and games. A small table seats two for dining. There is a smart TV with ROKU and Netflix. 420 ok
The Little House sits high on a knoll overlooking a 4 acre meadow and lots of forest. It is nested between shade trees. My home and another cabin are on the property. Sharing 8 acres, gives all three residences privacy and a sense of the wild, while still being just 1/4 mile from M22 the main highway to all of the area's attractions. The bedroom is more spacious than most Tiny Houses but it is in a loft, so families with children need to take safety into account. 420 freindly outdoors. Legal in MI now. There is parking next to Little House, but it may not be navigable in winter so a hike of about 300 feet from the plowed parking space will be necessary. PLEASE NOTE: I do allow dogs in my rentals. I clean extra well after canine guests and supply a cover sheet and separate towels for the canines. But I cannot remove every trace so if you are very sensitive this may not be the place for you. I also open all windows to air the house out between all guests and for those with pollen allergies, this could be an issue. My dogs' yard is about 100 feet from the Little House. They are fenced in and will bark a few times to greet you (or if they see the deer, turkeys or squirrels), but are fenced in and should not disturb you. Please do not allow your dogs to approach the fence, it instigates friendly barking which many bother my neighbors. Although we are situated in conservative Northern Michigan, please know that I do welcome ALL guests, no matter the culture, gender or ethnic origin. This is a safe place for all. Peace and Love. Hurry! There are very few rentals available in central Leelanau County. Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Corky's Bistro, Tamarack Gallery, Knot Just a Bar, Blustone Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Blue Boat Coffee, Carlson's Fisheries, The Dam Candy Store, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries!
We are so lucky to be in beautiful Leelanau County. My eight acre property is secluded ( you cannot see any of my neighbors once on the property) yet close to the main highway. I live just above the Tribal Land, in a mixed neighborhood of farmhouses, modular, mobile homes and cottages. My neighbors are tidy, quiet and friendly. It is a VERY safe community, the EMT, fire station and police are nearby. Once a year, there is a community pick-up of large discarded items, and these are on the curb, making the neighborhood look distressed. Please excuse this once-a-year blight. Sound does carry, so I hope my guests take thin into consideration when using the outdoors.
  • Pam’s Tiny House was absolutely beautiful! The property had amazing sun light and beautiful views. Quiet nature bliss.

    Tom2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tiny house! It was the perfect place to stay at as we explored the Leelanau Peninsula for the weekend. The location is absolutely perfect for all of the wineries, hikes and exploring we planned for the weekend. It’s super easy to get to. There’s lots of land to run a dog if you bring one. We have an energetic Aussie and the house never felt too small. It stays warm through the night and all amenities were just right! Pam was communicative and we had no issues getting in. We definitely want to come back in summer. Highly recommend this for solo and couples/small family getaways!

    Lindsey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Another wonderful stay at the Tiny House! Pamela is a hospitable host - great with communicating about the slick driveway thanks to the melting snow, turned up the heat before our arrival so we would be comfortable, and has so many personal touches in the space. We will definitely be back!

    Haley2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela was a great host at the tiny house! We were there for the first big snowfall of the season, and she was easy to communicate with to make sure we made it safely and had a place to park. The tiny house was the perfect spot for us while visiting family who live just up the road. It was peaceful, clean, and cozy. Plus we got to bring our dog! We’ll definitely be back soon.

Enjoy one of our recently remodeled cottages at historic Paradise Pines Resort in the charming village of Elk Rapids. We are working to restore all 11 unique cottages nestled on 5 wooded acres. We are conveniently located on the edge of town and across a quiet, 2-lane road from a public day park with Grand Traverse Bay access. Walk or bike to town for shopping, restaurants, a theater and so much more, or drive to nearby Traverse City or Charlevoix for wineries, breweries, and festivals!
Cottage 4 was completely remodeled in 2018. Everything from the custom wood flooring, to the electrical/plumbing, to the furniture is new or re-purposed. This cottage is one bedroom with a queen bed, perfect for 1-2 people. The bathroom has a custom tiled step in shower. Enjoy a full-sized electric range, fridge/freezer, sink, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker in the kitchen. Plates, bowls, cups, mugs, wine glasses, and silverware is provided. Cooking utensils, pots, pans, mixing bowls, etc. are also provided. To ensure guest comfort there is an in-wall heat/AC unit and a fan.
We are in the quaint harbor town of Elk Rapids. The town offers a large public beach, antique shopping, galleries, a distillery, brewery, movie theater and several restaurants. Our Friday market features fresh local produce and crafts. Antrim County Day Park is directly across the street from us with a beach on Grand Traverse Bay, bathrooms, wooded trails, outdoor art exhibits, and a large covered pavilion with picnic tables and grills.
  • Cottage 4 is super cute and had everything we needed for a short weekend stay. It’s renovated well, using the space smartly while still providing all the necessary amenities. The setting was beautiful with the fall leaves in full color, and the location was great for our nearby conference and riding over to Old Mission Peninsula for a little wine tasting. Lisa was timely and responsive with her communications. I’d happily stay again!

    Colleen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful spot in a great location in Elk Rapids! Spotless with great furnishings, just across the street from the lake.

  • Great location! Super cozy cottage.

    Tyler2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quiet hideaway. We stayed in cottage # 4 and felt comfortable all around. Everything has been lovingly and thoughtfully renovated and equipped. The kitchen is really equipped with all necessary utensils, even a few spices were available. We liked to stay there. The bed is comfortable and even has, if you like, a massage function. There are private loungers and a seat in front of or next to the cottage. The location is quiet and in a few minutes you are in ELkRapids. The hosts Lisa and her husband are extremely nice and helpful. All cottages are perfectly renovated by themselves. We would come back anytime.

    Rolf2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing time over Labor Day weekend (we stayed in Cottage #4). The cottage has been beautifully renovated and is incredibly comfortable and well-appointed. The resort is literally across the road from a secluded beach on Grand Traverse Bay, perfect for hunting Petoskey stones after breakfast (we found so many!) and enjoying gorgeous sunsets in the evening. And it's less than a 5 minute bike ride into town. We loved every minute of our stay here. We will definitely be back!

    Jennifer2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect location. We enjoyed downtown Elk Rapids and it was only a 15-20 min drive to downtown TC. Each evening we made it back to the cabin in just enough time to go across the street and see the most amazing sunsets. The cabin was spacious and clean. Perfect for just the two of us or even an extra on the couch if needed. It was exactly what we needed and exceeded our expectation. The owners have put tons of love and skill into each cabin updated so far. They were even kind enough to let us tour a couple of the others. Some of the other units are a bit bigger and have a couple of bedrooms made for bigger groups. This place would be perfect for family vacations or even multiple family’s to rent and stay next to each other. We will most definitely be back. Our favorite place in Elk Rapids was the bar Ethanology. And our favorite place in TC was Georginas. Oh and we caught a movie at the State Theater! And as always the shops on Front street are great. Make sure to take the drive up the light house. Great calm beach to enjoy.

    Erin2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Cottage 4 to celebrate my birthday weekend and it was perfect. The location is amazing. A short walk to the rocky shoreline, a super short drive to downtown Elk Rapids and only 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City. The house was super clean, and the owners thought of every amenity. The shared space is very fun with a fire pit, and games. They hosts were very responsive and made us feel welcome all weekend. I highly recommend and can’t wait to book another trip back to Paradise Pines.

The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. Beth was a good hostess. She provided lots of good recommendations for places to hike and eat, and left us a bottle of local wine. • This place is absolutely magical. This past weekend was our 4th stay here, and we will for sure be back. It's by far our favorite Airbnb, and it's one of the few places the entire family loves.

    Kevin2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot right on the lake with amazing views! Walkable to town or parks and good in all seasons, although I’m sure it’s amazing in summer! (We stayed in late fall). Great fireplace, really cozy and comfortable. Great decorations and thoughtful touches, felt like we were in an urban outfitters catalog! Great hosts and would love to stay again!

    Jessica2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This house was so fantastic! Beautifully decorated and it smelled amazing. We loved the little touches like candles, books and magazines, and the well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. The view was over the top. We’d definitely stay here again!

US 31 North is home to two rental units. This unit is named Lake Michigan because it is on the Lake Michigan side of the 1880 schoolhouse that is been renovated into a one bedroom, one bath with a full kitchen and living/dining area. It is situated on US 31, hence, the name. We are centered between the two lakes, a perfect place to catch a sunrise over Torch Lake and the sunset over Lake Michigan. We are not located directly on either lake, but within walking distance.
We are set up for two adults only. Or there can be two adults and up to two children with the sofa bed in the livingroom. The shower is new, but it is small. We were limited on what would fit in the space when renovating. For this, I apologize in advance. But the unit is nicely renovated and decorated. We have a large parking area, so if you are bringing a trailer, boat or kayaks, we have the space you need. There is a beautiful day park just 1/4 mile up the road to launch your boat. There is a $10 launch charge, but it is well worth it. There are other launch areas if you do not want to pay, or you would like to launch your boat in Lake Michigan. We do not have air conditioning at this time, but two doors to open, two ceiling fans and and several windows creates a nice breeze throughout. If you are looking for a place to invite friends, hold parties, etc, this is not a place for you. It is a place to come and enjoy the location between the lakes, have access to many quaint towns with shopping, breweries, distilleries, wineries, biking, kayaking, etc. Most are guests are on the go the majority of the time exploring all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
Even though we are not located on the lake, Torch Lake and Lake Michigan are close by for a great day at the beach. We are approximately 12 miles from Elk Rapids, 17 miles from Charlevoix, 17 miles from Bellaire (Shorts Brewery) 30 miles to Boyne City and Traverse City, 36 miles to Petoskey, 54 miles to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and 72 miles from Mackinaw City. By being centrally located, you can experience many places with a day trip.
  • You will not regret booking this unique cute cottage. So close to both lakes, clean with a homey feel. So much to do in the area. The perfect getaway.

    Amy2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very good tips about what local places to see! Very clean place and adorably decorated

    Kayla2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay! It was perfect for an up north vacation, in a great location for so many great activities! The hosts provided such a comfortable and beautiful place!

    Emily2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as pictured, super clean and beautifully decorated! We loved staying in an old schoolhouse, it was such a unique experience. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a great stay!

    Natalie2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Charming place, great location, and very clean! Great access to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake right up the road.

    Christine2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lezlie’s home was exactly what we needed for our mini vacation up north! We were close enough to spend days in traverse city, Charlevoix, and of course, beautiful torch lake! Thank you for the great stay!

    Jennifer2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this adorable house!! So clean and spacious. If you are looking for a location not too far from everything this beautiful area offers, look no further!

    Nichole2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • As this was our first trip to experience Torch Lake we were told you have to hang out The at Sand Bar on the south end of the Lake by friends, and we did for 2 days, BUT we discovered the location of your cottage was PERFECT, because we found the Boat launch So easy and the North end of the Lake to be less congested and beautiful!!!! Your cottage is in between both ends of the different towns to experience different shopping , local sites and restaurants. At the end of each day relaxation was in order and your Place did the trick. The bed was comfy. The couch and chair were comfy. The state of art TV and WiFi were bonuses. The water pressure was perfect, never ran out. From appliances to dishes, pots and pans, quality towels, linen and decor she thought of everything. Super clean!!!We had a few little questions and text messaging replies were very quick. We had room to bring our pontoon boat too. As stated no air conditioning, we had a nice breeze at night. There are ceiling fans, but we brought an extra fan and that also helped to keep the cottage comfy. Air really isn’t needed if you are truly wanting to explore the area. Make it a great vacation and stay here. I don’t feel you would be disappointed!!!

Ross's Roost is a quiet cottage on beautiful Birch Lake. It is an all sports lake with swimming, boating and fishing. Because it is spring fed, the water is clean with a 12' visibility. Located between Traverse City and Charlevoix Elk Rapids offers many things to do or nothing to do...your choice! There is a public beach, tennis courts, basketball courts, golf courses, Wednesday night street fair, Shorts Brewery, restaurants. shopping and vinyards. May 1 - October 8.
May can be booked by the day or by the week. The management prefers bookings for June, July and August are by the week. If less than a week a 2 night minumum would be prefered. September and October bookings are by the day or by the week. It is a good idea to inquire early in the year to secure your bookings. It doesn't hurt to make a simple phone call. Some people will book a year in advance.
Ross's Roost is located on a quiet secluded road with very little traffic except for residents. Trips to Traverse City or Charlevoix take no more that one half hour. Nearby is a super market, the Village of Elk Rapids and restaurants. There is information on the TV table telling you specific facts about the running of the cottage and general information about near by things to see. WiFi and Internet are provided.
  • We had a wonderful time at Don’s cottage. The location is perfect and the cottage has everything you need. We loved spending time at the lake and it is also really close to the Torch Lake! Don is such a great host! We will definitely come back again!!!

    Julia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is quaint and low key. The location and boating / kayaking that Don makes available are amazing. Quiet neighbors, and beautiful warm water! A gem of a place in northern Michigan.

    Nell2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We appreciate the location in between Sleeping Bear to the west and Clarevoix to the east. There was a fresh bouquet of flowers. The kayaks provided a quiet morning on Birch Lake. The fire pit was a relaxing close to a busy day. The heap of literature on local sites jump started our excursions. Many thanks.

*SANITIZED and REMOTE* The cabin is rustic with recycled and used items, but I do use bleach and Lysol. I do welcome ALL guests of any culture, gender or ethnic origin. This is a safe place for all. Peace and Love. 420 PLEASE note; I DO allow dogs. I do clean carefully between guests and ask that an extra sheet be used if dogs are here. I supply towels for dogs. But I cannot remove every trace and I have dogs myself. So if you are very sensitive, this may not be the right rental for you.
This one room style cabin has been updated with a walk-in terrazzo tile shower, bamboo floors. Featuring a full kitchen with cherry counter tops, Motawi tile and a two burner cook-top. You'll have all cooking and serving supplies. And you'll rest well on a queen sized Celeste pillow-top memory foam bed by the fireplace. Find the shelves stocked with books by and about local characters. FREE BOOKS< take some home. There are board games and cards too. Didn't finish the book? Take it with you! Cabin is 420 friendly (outdoors). Michigan is legal now. I also have a brand new luxury Tiny House, if you want to take a peek at it the listing is: Little House of Leelanau: A Big Little Retreat You will feel as if you are in a secluded hideaway yet, just minutes away from Omena, Sutton's Bay, Leland and Northport. The local art theater, casino, fishing village, galleries and wineries are just 10 minutes away, and you are only 30 minutes from "America's most beautiful spot" Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Available by the night, weekend, or week. In June through September, you can pick your own blueberries in the meadow, right outside the cabin. There is also fire pit and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking for your boat. The queen bed sleeps two, but children may use sleeping bags if you wish to bring the family. I hav just added a Smart TV with ROKU. Our internet speed is not fast, but you can stream movies, etc. weather, news, TV, etc. Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Tamarack Gallery, Circa Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, 9 Bean Rows, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Carlson's Fisheries, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries! I have posted my favorites in the directory. If you do NOT see a restaurant or winery in there it could be because I do NOT recommend it. Some of the busiest ones are tourist traps. They serve generic frozen meals at high prices and poor service. I will not name them here, but if you do not see them in my directory, that could be why. I have been in the industry and also know which ones are clean. I'm happy to discuss further. Just ask. Owner lives in separate dwelling on property and is available for extra needs and suggestions. My adult son also lives here, and my fenced dogs, so security is never a problem. I have just added a Tiny House to my property. It is not visible from the inside of the Studio and it has its own parking, camp fire and outdoor area.
My neighbors are quiet and pleasant. There is a mix of types of homes: farmhouse, stickbuilt, mobile, modular, artisan and cabins.
  • This is a very nice getaway. Great place, very comfortable, has all you need to relax and disconnect.

  • The studio is a beautiful place, with just the right amenities for a lovely getaway. We typically cook breakfast in and maybe a dinner, the rest of our trips are spent exploring & eating out so this was a perfect spot for us! The studio has a lovely little kitchen area for making a quick breakfast. The bathroom shower is beautiful and huge; my 6’2” husband really appreciated it!

This is a working farm with a vineyard, apple orchard, raspberries, and a large green garden. The house is located on the old mission peninsula. There are wonderful restaurants and wineries within minutes and town is a short 7 mile jaunt away. The house is quite modern downstairs with eames furniture and other retro touches all open spaces with views in every direction. The bedroom retains the old farmhouse feel with oak trim and antique furnishings. Your bedroom has a king seize bed and is very large. It overlooks a wonderful field and farmhouse. You have your private bathroom, just across the hall. The house is air-conditioned. We can't accommodate children + pets, and we don't allow smoking in the house.
  • There’s a nice, big bedroom with a private bathroom just across the hall. Irene’s home is very chic, and the outdoors is a working farm with outbuildings for you to explore. Great location right in the middle of Old Mission.

Very clean and well maintained 5th wheel. On a privately owned lake, you have access to fishing , catch and release. We have a kayak to use and grill to use on your private deck. Close to restaurants and wineries. Public beach within walking distance and great walking/biking around Omena point.
The 5th wheel is parked alongside the garage of our main residence but is private.
Private inland lake for fishing, Knot Just A Bar and conjoined winery is a great view, public beach on Grand Traverse Bay, less than a mile away.
  • The RV space was clean and comfortable. For a party of one it's perfect. A place to lay your head, a hot shower, WI-FI. Great little view from the porch, too. The welcome sign was a nice added touch, plus the host communicated well. I would definitely stay there again. Great little place just north of Sutton's Bay.

  • This RV was perfect for my trip to the area. I woke up and enjoyed beautiful views from the private, lakefront deck. The space was immaculate, comfortable organized ! Not to mention, the flowers, bird feeders, and personalized welcome sign added a wonderful touch! The best part about this Airbnb is location, location, location. While private and quiet, it is just minutes away from several towns, Omena, Northport and Suttons Bay. And, just a short easy drive to Leland, Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, the Lighthouse and more. The hosts were responsive and very thoughtful in their interaction with me. Thanks for everything!

Our ground floor studio is part of our house but has a separate outside private entrance so you can come and go at your leisure. There is a private path & 2 minute walk to "downtown" Omena with the very popular Knot Just a Bar and Leelanau Cellars Winery. There is also a small public beach/park in Omena where you can launch stand up boards or kayaks, swim or picnic. Our studio is a seasonal listing, open late May June through mid to late Oct. A private car is needed to get around.
We resided in Nairobi, Kenya for 14 years and our decor exhibits a flavour of East Africa as well as one of our other favorite destinations - Costa Rica. Kitchen includes mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, drip style coffee maker, coffee grinder , electric kettle, dishes, utensils, - there is NO stove, oven, cooktop, or grill. All linens are provided but take your own beach towels. Private patio with table and chairs for your use as well as the large back yard. NEW! - A/C and heat unit installed for our guest's comfort.
Our unit is only a 1/2 block walk to downtown Omena - the beautiful winery of Leelanau Cellars, Tamarack Gallery featuring Michigan artists, Knot Just A Bar, Omena Public Beach, Omena Country Store, US Post Office and the Omena Historical Museum. Or head up the road 2 miles to the Indian Village of Pshawbestown and the casino or take in the once a summer traditional Pow Wow the third weekend in August. A 10 minute drive takes you to either Suttons Bay or Northport with many excellent restaurants and shopping. Leland is 18 minutes ( be sure to check out Fish Town and the beach there) and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore is 40 minutes. Traverse City is 30 minutes. There are over 27 wineries in our county, plus some wonderful breweries including the hopping Hop Lot just down the road in Suttons Bay. If you plan to bike, we can offer suggestions. There are also a number of hiking trails available through the Leelanau Conservancy. Farmer Markets are held at various locations throughout the county on different days. Northport offers free music in the park at the marina on Friday evenings, pretty much all summer. We are a great central location to enjoy daily all that spectacular Leelanau County has to offer and you have the added bonus of returning to the peace and quiet of Omena.
  • This was our second time staying here, and it didn’t disappoint! The studio was clean, warm, and comfortable, and it’s in a great location. Keith & Georgie were perfect hosts - very helpful, friendly, and responsive. We loved the personal touches in the room, as well as the local recommendations. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

  • You will not be disappointed! This little gem is located in a little often overlooked cove near the cute little town of Omena in Leelanau. The studio is decorated very beautifully with artifacts reminiscent of Africa. Tastefully done, clean, quiet, and comfortable, plus a kitchenette for convenience and money saving opportunities. Georgie and Keith are more than helpful as local guides and really go out of their way to make sure that you have every thing that will complete your stay. Enjoy you stay with these fantastic hosts in this beautiful studio apartment.

  • Keith & Georgie go out of their way to make sure check-in is convenient and easy and that guests have everything they need including recommendations for things to do in the area. Great experience overall and very happy with our stay!

    Caleb2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie and Keith are wonderful hosts! We loved being walking distance from the beach and a short drive from many beautiful views and delicious restaurants. The space was perfect for a weekend getaway. We hope to be back!

  • Wonderful people, room was even better than it looked in the pictures.

    Michael2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time staying at Keith and Georgie’s place. The room was very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The room does come with air conditioning but Northern Michigan evenings are not hot so we didn’t even use it. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. I would suggest going to FIGS in Lake Leelanau for breakfast. Our breakfast was just delicious. Keith and Georgie’s place is a great place to stay for any occasion. Working with them is always a pleasure. We can’t wait to return again.

Easy cancellation w/my full refund if your plans change - see policy! Your private bath directly down the stairs (nice robes provided). In-room fridge, Firestick; Hulu; window A/C, electric FP, sink. Bay view. Use of living room and patio. 5 great restaurants within easy walk, bakery w/ tables across road. Saturday Farmer's Market at waterfront park across road. Easy drive to Sleeping Bear National Park and 30 wineries. This clean guest room is a best lodging value - last year was $125 nightly!
You'll be on 3 wine trails - there are over 32 wineries with tasting rooms on our peninsula and a distillery is just up the road 3 miles - all offer tastings. The park across the road has a very nice picnic shelter, BBQs, plenty of well-maintained tables and clean restrooms. If you bring a kayak you can launch it, if you bring or rent a bike you can get on the trail there. You will find our village upscale, clean, colorful, and picturesque. Our community-operated movie theater features first run films, events, and art films. Our cafes please city folks with sophisticated menu offerings. Our boutiques rival those in other upscale resort areas featuring unique artsy items. You can safely walk at night, streets and yards are tidy, people are friendly, and you may even start shopping for houses during your stay - it happens all the time.
You can walk to all of our wonderful cafes, boutiques, the library, beach, theater, and galleries. My setting is lightly forested and natural - a meadow, butterflies, wildflowers, and what some call weeds - it is a pollination area, not manicured and I will not use Round-Up ... if you desire a manicured or mowed yard my setting may not appeal to you. The house fronts the road that leads to most of our wineries and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park - a must-see.
  • We had such a great stay at Jackie's place! It was exactly as described in the listing. We stayed in the Rose Room. The entire property has fun/kooky/eclectic decorations. Jackie adds nice touches, like a very cute and tasty continental breakfast (fresh baked goods she picks up from across the street, hard boiled eggs, fruit) and a special fridge filled with ice cream outside the room. If you're looking for a unique "outside the box" bed & breakfast situation, Jackie's place definitely fits the bill. Our space was clean and comfortable. I had been concerned about having a separate bathroom outside the room, but it ended up being fine - Jackie has a sign hanging on the bathroom door saying that the downstairs restroom is reserved for Rose Room guests, and she provides bathrobes in the room so you can traipse back and forth from the restroom and the bedroom with ease. The house is centrally located in Suttons Bay, close to cute shops and restaurants. Easy parking. A+
