(If calendar is full try sister deck https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13648244 ) Camping Deck long range views of mountain vistas and pastures. Well built roomy 16x24 deck that is partially roofed to provide rain cover. This is "spoiling" camping. Electricity, lights, chairs, picnic table, clean toilet, dog gate. Bring electric blankets, coffee makers, mattress inflaters or other plug ins. Porta John is cleaned weekly. Verizon cell service is good. This deck faces south and has room for big tent.
We have used it as a family gathering spot and decided others would find it invitingly relaxing to sit quietly alone, or gather with friends. Our hard core camping friends tease us and say that is "spoiled camping." We admit to it. Laughingly. Electricity, lights, easy chairs, views that mesmerize, clean toilet, picnic table, dog gate so your good dog can be leash free, cooler, extreme quite, remote, yet accessible to restaurants 10 minutes away, stairs with landing, garbage bags, cleaning supplies; did I mention the southern exposure, remoteness, quiet, easy walking roads, electricity, toilet------------. It is as the pictures and descriptions depict.
The neighborhood is like a national forest. Quiet woodlands with deer, bear, raccoons, skunks etc.etc. you get the idea. If these animals cause apprehension, then please give some thought to the many other local AirBnB options. It is what it is. Spoiled camping. Electricity, lights, roof, clean porta john toilet. Amazing views, very quiet and private. It's a humongous 16x24 deck that is partially roofed. The quiet is----- so very quiet.
  • I highly recommend taking a trip here! You cannot beat the views at this location. You definitely get the secluded mountain feel without being too far from modern civilization. The host puts a lot of thought into making your stay as comfortable as possible. We will definitely be visiting again!

  • Doug an amazing host! Breathtaking scenic view! Short drive from local restaurants, gas and grocery!

  • I ended up arriving a day after I planned and Doug made sure to check in with me and make sure I was finally settled. The space was clean and the view was beautiful! It was a wonderful glamping location.

  • Great "glamping" experience. The platform is only about a 15 minute drive from hiking trails & the little town center. Pluses: -Although there are other platforms along the mountain, they're well spaced out for privacy (we couldn't see and/or hear the guests at the next campsite over) -Everything was very clean & well kept -Water, toilet paper, and some extra bits and bobs were provided -Google Maps took us right to the platform

    Fiona2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time, super clean as always. We’ll be back!

    Hunter2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Breathtaking views! Very private and easy to get to. Lots of room for our dog to freely roam on the deck! Will be back for sure!

    Sergey2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place this is! Unique and well equipped! Sunset and Sunrise is absolutely gorgeous. Really looking forward to going back and taking friends. Only advise would be to turn your vehicle around during daylight just in case you plan to drive down at night for an outing. Thank you Doug and family for sharing your space with all of us adventurers!

    Lisa2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! The fall foliage was vibrant and beautiful! The view of the mountains was fabulous! We have an 8 person tent and it fit perfect on the deck. It was a very rainy and windy weekend but it did not affect how much we enjoyed camping here. We cannot wait to come back again!

No neighbors , just wildlife. There are no cases of corona virus in the area. The stores are well stocked with everything. I am offering discounted rates. I am also offering a grocery, etc.delivery service. No need for you to leave the property. Why not make a vacation out of your self isolation.
  • This is an outstanding little treasure - simply perfect for two people. The roaring stream next to the cabin is unreal! The location is spectacular (so close to the BR Parkway and Mt. Mitchell), and David is an excellent host. And the place was super clean!

    Jenny2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sit back on the porch and grill a trout that you caught up the road. Listen to the creeks running water and lose yourself in the mountains! Enjoy the amazing views and the fresh mountain air.

  • Book this cabin while you can, you won’t regret it. The cabin itself is a small cabin, it has a bed and small kitchen, but it’s exactly what you need. The cabin is extremely clean, and there’s covered parking which is a huge plus, and the gas grill on the porch on the creek is amazing. The location is perfect, especially being so close to mount Mitchell and Marion. As far as the host (Dave) he was super nice, his dogs were super kind and he is great about responding and hospitality. A few things happened that were out of his control and he did whatever he could to help us in our stay. Overall it was a great experience and we can’t wait to go back!

    Caleb2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just go ahead and click book, you won’t regret it! The drive up to the cabin is beautiful. There’s a few tight curves, but not bad at all! Follow David’s directions and it’ll lead you straight to the cabin. You will not have cell service. The cabin has WiFi and works perfectly fine. It is also pet friendly which is a HUGE plus! You may think, ugh pet friendly it’s going to smell like a dirty dog...........you would have no idea that it was a pet friendly cabin. It smells really good and it is super clean! The creek is literally 5 steps from the front door. It is the most peaceful sound to fall asleep to at night and wake up to in the morning. David is an awesome host; he messaged us during our stay to make sure everything was going well and if we needed anything and responds back pretty quick. We arrived late and he had the lights on and heat on for us. He has 4 dogs of his own and they are the sweetest babies! Love them if you get the chance! The cabin is perfectly placed between Asheville and Boone; and you get the winding roads in between if you’re into that kind of thing. Book the cabin, enjoy the creek, love the dogs.

  • Very clean cabin. Great area. Secluded but very close to Asheville, wine vineyards, cute little towns, and beautiful hiking. David was an awesome host and very helpful and super hospitable. It was a perfect “tiny home” for my husband and I to stay in. Thank you so much for this peaceful and relaxing vacation!

    Kayla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • clean quiet place in the woods, sounds of the creek while you sit on the deck, everything you need to overnight while you enjoy the surrounding area

    Jeff2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • David’s cabin made our trip to North Carolina memorable- it’s nestled peacefully in the mountains adjacent to a stream. Definitely a great place to escape and spend some time in nature. Would recommend to anyone looking for a calm and beautiful place to stay! Would love to come back.

The Roost is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath secluded oasis on 4 acres of land, that boasts hiking trails, fruit trees, and a stream. Less than 10 miles from Asheville, it can hold up to 15 guests, and has an 8-person hot tub, pool/poker & foosball table, fire pit and much much more!!!
The Roost is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath log cabin that lies at the very end of an extended driveway. It provides the peaceful serenity desired by folks who want to get away, but also be just a short distance from downtown Asheville (less than 10 miles!) The Roost lies on 4 acres of land, and has hiking trails that run throughout the property, which includes a small stream in certain areas, several types of fruit trees, and a huge wrap around deck for outdoor entertaining. The Roost can accommodate up to 15 guests (please read on to get more info about the number of beds, and sleeping accommodations), and boasts a huge 8-person hot tub, pool and poker table, fire pit, a 60' HDTV w/home theatre system, and so much more! The downstairs provides entertainment for the entire family. There is a pool and antique poker table with chips and cards. The 60' HDTV has Direct TV, a blue ray DVD player and a home theatre system. The couch is extremely large and incredibly comfy, so the whole family can enjoy a cinematic experience together in style. There is also a separate checkers and chess table, as well as a surplus of board games. Additionally, there is a separate full size bed that functions as another sitting/sleeping/relaxing area. Three of the four bedrooms (2 kings and a queen) and 2 full baths are on the main floor, while the kids room with 2 sets of bunk beds (a twin and full bunk) is downstairs. The kids room has a 32' HDTV (w/Direct TV & DVD player), so they'll be entertained for hours! Adults can be on the main floor late, hang in front of the fire, watch TV (there's one in the Armoire next to the fireplace w/Direct TV), and have access to the kitchen etc. without disturbing the kids. The upstairs master and queen bedroom have ceiling fans and direct access to the beautiful wrap around deck. The queen bedroom has an attached bathroom with an incredible jacuzzi tub, so it is in essence another master bedroom. The bathroom is shared with the 3rd bedroom (not attached but right next door), and features a hand made king bed by an Asheville furniture designer. The love seat in front of the fire place opens into a bed, so you can sleep in front of the fire, which is truly a lovely feature. Therefore in all there are 2 Kings, 1 Queen, 3 Fulls, and 3 Twins (1 of the twins being the pullout couch). The Roost accommodates sleeping for 15 if you account for 2 people sharing beds for the Kings, Queen, and Fulls (not twins). The kitchen is large, and has all the appliances necessary to cook for large groups. There is also a grill outside that is available to guests. Attached to the kitchen is a front loading washer and dryer set, with plenty of detergent and dryer sheets so you can do laundry at anytime. The cabin has all the necessary linens for the beds, and has plenty bath towels, wash clothes etc. The Roost lies at the end of a very long driveway, so it is quiet and peaceful with absolutely no road noise. There are several hiking trails on the property to explore, as well as a stream to discover on your hike. The landscaping is gorgeous, with several types of fruit trees, flowers, plants etc. There is also a large fire pit with spots for 15 people. There is plenty of parking, including a carport for up to 2 vehicles. We do allow pets at The Roost, but charge an additional $150 pet fee to cover the additional cleaning and laundry expenses. If you're looking for a beautiful and luxurious place that can accommodate a family or large group then look no further. The Roost has everything you need to make your vacation truly one to remember!
It is quiet and peaceful with absolutely no road noise. If you're looking to get away, this is the place!
  • We had an amazing trip; Rich is a phenomenal host.

    Garrett2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Roost was a great place to stay. It comfortably accommodated our large group and everything was so clean and welcoming. Rich was a fantastic host and a great communicator. The house had so many amenities and thoughtful touches. We really enjoyed our stay and couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

    Michal2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Such a perfect, picturesque cabin for a large group wanting a bit of privacy without being too far from Asheville. Everything was so comfortable and cozy - from the linens, to the fireplace, to the large sectional sofa. Check in is a breeze and maps takes you directly to the address. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. We had everything we needed! Would recommend to anyone.

    Jamie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the roost was perfect. The house is clean, stylish, and well cared for. Fantastic amenities and the perfect place to relax with friends and family tucked away in the Carolina mountains. Just a quick 20 minute ride to downtown Asheville although it was hard to leave this cozy home! Thanks for a great stay, Rich.

    Allison2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Roost was great. Even though the owner was out of town (out of the country!) he communicated with me daily to make sure we didn’t have any issues, and that the 1 issue we did have was taken care of in a timely manner. Everything was laid out for us and the home was amazing. Thank you again Rich.

  • This place is STUNNING! We had a surprise 30th birthday party for my husband the first night. We had friends from all over the U.S that stayed. Plenty of room for everyone that came! The hot tub with the cafe lights surrounding the back deck made a breathe taking view at night. All the games downstairs made the evenings fly by. The house was clean upon arrival. Plenty of spices, pots & pans to cook with. Loved the fact that we also had plenty of toiletries & trash bags. Actually got a chance to do some yoga on the back deck :) The sectional down stairs is so comfortable! We will never forget the memories that were made in this cabin & we thank Richard so much from the bottom of our hearts for opening up his home to us. - Riggan Family + The Crew

    Angel2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Roost was the perfect place to host our group's weekend mountain getaway in Asheville. The house was equipped with everything we could need and so much more and truly offered something for everyone. We would definitely return!

    Steve2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we expected was available to us at the Roost. We had a lovely stay and felt truly at home. The young kids enjoyed the bunk beds and the fun games downstairs and outside action space to play on. The adults loved that we had a space for everyone and could have family meals on the large dining table. Perfect place to be between Asheville and Tennessee, if you want to go do some exploring. We were happy with the amenities as a whole. The one thing I would suggest was to purchase wash clothes for yourself. There were none in my bathroom and only couple in a house meant for 7 of us. Hat was probably a mistake, but was a bit surprising giving all of the other thoughtful amenities.

Seclusion, mountain ranges.... everything you need to let go, this new townhome is 2 blocks from neighborhood eateries, microbreweries, and the tourist center of Black Mountain-Trip Advisor’s Prettiest Small Town in America. We’re intown, yet on a quiet lot of Hemlocks and hardwoods with a private deck/hot tub w/views. We’re 14.6 miles from Asheville, 15 mins from Biltmore. 2 beds: 1 Loft BR (Queen), 1 Sofa bed Queen (common area); Full kitchen/full bath/laundry/1 car pkg
And why it’s different..... IDEAL FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING: Because we’re outside of Asheville, or any other metropolis area where the virus is spreading quickly, we actually have less incidence of the virus here than almost anywhere in North Carolina. Airbnb is sending out a generic message to all guests warning them of “an incident in ‘fill in the blank/your upcoming reservation location’”, whether it’s in a hotspot like NYC, or in an area like ours, that is relatively safe. The reality here is that because we’re somewhat rural, we’re comparatively free from the virus to date. People are still coming and love it because Montreat/Black Mountain is probably one of the best places in the country to social distance: we’re far from the hotspot areas, but close enough to Asheville if you need to go there; restaurants and breweries are still serving (takeout/outdoor seating), and we’re still a vacation wonderland in the midst of the most gorgeous season of the year. LOCATION: The Pinot Cottage is a turnkey experience for vacationing travelers who want to be centrally located, with immediate access to both local and regional attractions. Asheville, the Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Mt Mitchel and the Blue Ridge Parkway are in easy striking distance. But many who come find that Black Mountain/Montreat are the surprise. With a growing reputation as both an outdoor recreation mecca and a town center that supports year round tourism, Black Mountain has become the most visited Asheville satellite (per capita) in the region, while nearby Montreat has some of the most pristine back country hiking and mountain biking trails in WNC. ACCESS: *One block (walkable) to local eateries, neighborhood brewery and “Half Moon Cafe” organic market. *Two doors down from local day spa “Black Mountain Bodyworks” massage and facials. *3 block walk to Cherry Street: shops, museums, boutiques, art galleries, bistros, restaurants, cafes. *15 minutes to Asheville/the Biltmore Estate (14.6 miles). Uber accessible. *1 minute drive to SuperIngles/Starbucks. *5 minutes to the most popular hiking and mountain biking trails in WNC *1 minute walk to the local greenway system-running, walking, biking. WHAT TO EXPECT: I provide coffee and assorted teas along with creamer and sugar....For the kitchen-cooking oils and spices, a slow cooker and everything you need for full meal service and prep. In regards to the house, there is Smart cable TV with Netflix and Prime. There is no smoking or vaping inside, but instead please enjoy your smokes on the private deck. For little ones, there is a high chair, and a Pack n’ Play. For families-cornhole, board games, and books. For those working, a printer and 200 mps WiFi. For everyone else a hot tub at 102 degrees. POSSIBLE DOWNSIDES.... are included in the the House Rules (Guest Waiver) section such as the Construction Refund, possible Guest Surcharges, etc. To access the House Rules (Guest Waiver) return to the main menu window, scroll to the bottom of the page to the MORE DETAILS section, and click on the House Rules and then click on the Guest Waiver. When ready to book, include in your outgoing message, “I have read the waiver and agree.” Thank you.
Black Mountain has it’s own vibe, sort of a combination of Asheville with more traditional small town elements. South Ridgeway Ave is three blocks from the heart of town, so the entire stay can be enjoyed on foot. The town of Black Mountain is a product of the Blue Ridge....thrust onto the national stage alongside of Asheville during the early 1900s, when a 16 hr round trip ticket from the Black Mountain Depot to Mt. Mitchel was the only option for tourists who wanted to visit the highest peaks east of the Mississippi. Today the allure of these mountains continues as Black Mountain has become one of the most visited Asheville satellites in the region.
  • Great spot to stay. Within striking distance of Asheville and Mt. Mitchell. The house is in a nice quite neighborhood.. within walking distance of the town square.

  • The Pinot Cottage was by far the most well appointed Airbnb that we have stayed at. The Black Mountain area is very quaint & the cottage is within walking distance to most of the town’s eatery’s & shops. Chris is very accommodating & is very helpful should you have any questions. The hot tub on the private deck has a beautiful view of Black Mountain too! Great couples retreat.

    Melanie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in Black Mountain! Clean and stylish. Loved being able to relax in the hot tub in the evenings. Super convenient to Asheville.

    Candace2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location right in the town of black mountain. The place is very clean and the hot tub was perfect for our winter stay. I highly recommend this Airbnb and to visit this area. It’s about 15/20 from downtown Asheville. Chris was quick with responses and provided us with information about the area

    Siobhan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Pinot cottage was the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway in Black Mountain ! We loved that everywhere in downtown was walking distance. The cottage was so well decorated and put together, we also loved the hot tub with the beautiful Mountain View! I would definitely book this place again if I’m ever in black mountain!

    Rachael2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The reviews speak for themselves, and yet, somehow, this beautiful loft still has to be seen and experienced to be believed! Chris truly has thought of everything to make this awesome loft functional and feel like home. I remember walking in and thinking, "I just wish I had brought some board games!" No worries, Chris had thought of that too! The perfect mountain getaway with short drives to Montreat, Brevard, Asheville or just to enjoy what Black Mountain has to offer - and there's plenty there to keep you occupied! Truly an incredible place to stay!

    Chris2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house with an even better location. Walking distance to nearly everything downtown (check out Luna’s Cafe for breakfast, which is attached to the market down the street - you won’t be disappointed). The hot tub was a great way to relax after snowboarding at Cataloochee. We loved our trip to Black Mountain!

This is a covered camping platform (16x24) with truly amazing views both near and far. It is built among the trees and mountain laurel. Your car is a short distance from the deck. Electricity for fans, mattress inflators, or other plug ins. Lights makes after dark flashlight free. Your private and weekly cleaned portajohn is nearby.I provide table, chairs, and fresh water. Safe for dogs and kids. Quite, private place. You will return.
Perfect blend of amenties and nature. I provide clean porta john, chairs, table, water in igloo container, 110 electric service, lights, bear bucket, cleaning supplies, garbage bags and other camping stuff. If at the end of your trip, if you have unused supplies "pay if forward" and leave them for the next camping deck.
Dead end private gravel road. I own 20 acres of mountain side above the continental divide.
  • The view is beautiful, and its great to have electric outlets and an outhouse to use! It was significantly colder up on the mountain compared to Asheville, but we wore layers and used lots of blankets. We will for sure be back!

    Molly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous view, gorgeous space, not too far from Asheville. We didn’t stay the whole weekend as it was colder than expected with high winds but we would love to return when the weather is warm.

    Natalie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views at a great price. We stayed on New Year’s Eve with our dogs. The electrical outlets were a lifesaver. We were able to put up our tent, inflate our air mattress, and keep a space heater in the tent. Would definitely stay again..when it’s a bit warmer out :)

  • Beautiful stay and very clean! The area is well taken care of, thoughtfully designed, and fairly private. Be careful of wind, though there are tarps to make a windbreak. The views are beautiful and I must return in the fall!

Deck is catered with several electrical outlets as well as a retractable cord do we were able to make it work with a space heater in our tent. The deck also had a large picnic table, four nice outdoor chairs and a coffee table. The portapotty was very clean catered with lights, and air fresheners.

  • Great host! Amazing area and super quiet for a couple getaway , close to local favorites and asheville is only 30 minutes away. Great communication and easy to work with. Definitely will be back.

  • I don't even know where to start...this place was near PERFECT in every way imaginable. From the moment we booked to the moment we checked out the communication from our host was SPOT ON. Erik literally thought of EVERYTHING. You can tell he thought of just about every little detail a host could possibly think of. So many little unique touches made staying here even better than we were expecting. The location, amenities, info on local stuff to do, etc. was impeccable. Let's just say I was stoked to sign the guest book in this place, and place a flag on the map of the US showing where we travelled from. The map was FILLED with hundreds of flags from guests from all over the place, which does not surprise me. I could go on and on. Just do yourself a favor: book this place and enjoy all that Black Mountain has to offer!

  • Wonderful host, wonderful place to stay.

    David2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy, homey place with old-house-charm was just right for two of us. It was very cold outside when we were there so we were glad that the cottage warms up fast and stays warm. Had everything we needed. Nice and clean inside. Really appreciated that hosts put out all natural products (soap and cleaning stuff), and that there's recycling and compost. It was nice also that they left us coffee beans from local cafe' and a grinder, and granola (vegan, even!) Good location, about a mile from town and pretty quiet. Black Mountain is such an enjoyable town. It was nice to see a number of suggestions for walking and hiking in the orientation binder. Really enjoyed the collection of books on NC history and outdoors! It's clear that the hosts know and love the area, and want you to enjoy it as well. :-) Just an FYI on parking: If you had a very long car or a trailer, or you just tend to be a nervous nelly, you might have trouble navigating out of the drive way because you have to back out and turn 90 degrees, and it's a narrow road with a ditch on both sides. We did fine by having the passenger get out and guide the driver. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

    Linda2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfy place with an abundance of thoughful touches! Erik was helpful and fast to reply when I had questions. All around great experience!

    Kristen2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Erik did an amazing job in making us feel welcome. It was my mother's birthday and he hung a banner in the kitchen for her to see when she first walked in the cottage. There were other special touches and great recommendations on what to do in the area, even on rainy days! The cottage was perfect for a quick weekend get-a-way!

  • Cozy and super clean cottage. Many special touches and activity suggestions. Quick and easy drive to Black Mountain and Asheville. Very attentive host.

  • Great location and easy to find. We were very pleased to find a fenced in yard as well as fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Met all of our needs for our stay!

  • The cute bungalow right outside of downtown Black Mountain was perfect. The 1950s house has updated appliances and amenities, but features handmade touches like a solid wood bar and natural wood overhang on the back of the house. It was beautiful and a great place to stay!

    Moriah2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy home close to Black Mountain. The house is walkable to town, though parts of the walk are on a main road so some folks may not feel comfortable walking. The backyard and firepit are great! Check-in and check-out were easy and Kyle was quick to reply to messages. Towels, pots and pans, etc were provided. Overall we had a very nice stay. The one thing I’ll note is that this was my first time staying in an AirBnB plus - I didn’t know what to expect, but the listing is framed as more of a luxury house than it actually is. We didn’t need luxury and were very comfortable, but if you’re looking for that “high class” stay then you might be disappointed. It’s an older home (which shows), the heat/ac are a bit inefficient, and the furniture is moderately comfortable and a bit worn. Again, this wasn’t a problem for us but something to keep in mind if you’re looking for that luxury experience.

    Charlotte2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, cute house conveniently located near Asheville and near hiking.

    Rachel2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's home is adorable and clean! With comfortable blankets, and all the kitchen utensils needed to cook in, we were able to enjoy our rainy couple of days at the house. The fenced in back yard looked very inviting, and would be perfect for kids or dogs to run around. We'd love to stay again in the future!

    Andrea2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really great and cute place! Good WiFi and communicative hosts. Easy check in instructions.

  • Would definitely stay here again! Minutes away from Ridgecrest! Cozy upstairs!

    Mave2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is exactly as in the photos. It was perfect for our family-- plenty of space for everyone and very comfortable. It's convenient to I-40 and the neighborhood is really quiet. We enjoyed several of the local restaurants that are within a few minutes drive. Would definitely stay here again.

Built in 1880, our home is a rambling, quirky Victorian nestled in the heart of downtown Old Fort. Minutes away from Black Mountain and Asheville, the inn is a perfect beginning and ending to your day's adventures in western NC!
This large queen room has its own full bath. The room features a dormer window and much charm as it showcases warm pine walls. Located beside the home's library, this room offers a great opportunity to curl up with a great book!
Our home is somewhat secluded, yet we are very close to downtown. While the small town of Old Fort has only a few restaurants and stores, we have a new downtown art gallery, Arrowhead Gallery and Studios. The house also sits directly across from the historic Old Fort Depot and is within walking distance of the Mountain Gateway Museum. For guests who are seeking outdoor adventure, visits to Andrews' Geyser, Catawba Falls, Curtis Creek, and Point Lookout are great points of interest.
  • Our stay at Chuck and Beckys Appalachian Mt. B&B was everything and more than what we’d hoped to find when we got there. Communication was fantastic, never waiting more than a minute for a reply as we left late and arrived late. No matter, Chuck and Becky were on call and flexible. It’s plain to see just how much time, thought, and effort has been put into their lovely Bed and Breakfast. Small touches from the time you enter like a suitcase of local guides and maps to fresh flowers beside a bottle of water in your room make you feel more than at home as soon as you arrive. Breakfast with Chuck and Becky was one of the most enjoyable experiences we’ve ever had. A combination of absolutely lovely and delicious meals coupled with expert advice on the surrounding area made for the perfect start to each day. Truly can not recommend this stop enough if you’re intent is to hike within the Pisgah National Forest. Without a doubt the most accommodating and friendly people will be hosting you. My girlfriend and I cannot wait to return later this summer. Thank you so much for all that you did in providing us such a wonderful stay.

  • Chuck and Becky, awesome place, general knowledge of the area and hospitality. They were responsive to all my requests and much more......thanks for the Biltmore tour tickets...Chuck and Becky allowed my son to join me for breakfast each morning (food excelent) and prepared a "to go" breakfast my last day. Really enjoyed our conversations, and learning about their hiking adventures.....

  • We had a wonderful time! Chuck and Becky are incredible hosts. Our room was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.

  • Chuck and Becky are lovely people and also have an amazing knack for hosting! The room was beautiful and breakfast outstanding. I would highly recommend a stay at their Airbnb. We drove to Black Mountain and Asheville during our stay, both an easy drive from Old Fort. Word is Old Fort will have a brewery soon- what a great bonus for an already great place to stay!

    Viola2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck and Becky went above and beyond to make us feel welcome at their home. Our stay was lovely and clean, and the hot tub was amazing (and also very clean)! Breakfast was delicious, and Chuck and Becky gave us plenty of good recommendations for local restaurants and hiking trails. Becky even went as far as to let us borrow her own rain jacket for a hike. I will definitely visit again!

  • Perfect tiny getaway in the mountains! Even with the cold weather (and a bit of light snow) we found the heater kept the house cozy and warmed everything up quickly. Black Mountain was really convenient. We went for breakfast and dinner and found some great spots! Overall we were really pleased with our stay.

    Lauren2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Teeny tiny exceeded our expectations! It was super cold the weekend of our stay but the space heater kept us really warm. Stacy even gathered a big pile of sticks for us by the fire pit to get us started! I highly recommend booking this place for a unique, private, and comfortable stay.

    Marcy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! Can't wait to come back during the summer to play in the river. Thanks.

    Brittney2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the teeny tiny house! The coffee, towels, blankets were nice. As was Netflix! Will definitely be back

    Stacey2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really liked the space and the location on the waterfront was exactly what we were looking for. Nearby Black Mountain was nice. Stacey checked in with us and was very quick to respond. The only thing I have to offer otherwise is some washcloths and maybe extra towels would have been nice, but it’s not a necessity.

    Hannah2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very cute and had everything we needed. We happened to go on one of the coldest days and Stacy was very proactive in making sure we were warm enough. The space heater was plenty warm to heat the whole place. Very nice location too, directly looking at the creek.

Whatever your reason for visiting this part of the state, you are welcome in our home.

  • Best smelling place we've stayed in, ever! Hosts were gracious and charming- I was a little hesitant to be sharing space with the owners, but it was private, and convenient- and, fun to talk to owners! They were charming and gracious and had great feedback on area...we so enjoyed ourselves!

  • Wow. This place was a true gem, far exceeded expectations. Close to Montreat, nice little downtown area, larger than expected space with lots of privacy. Close to Asheville but felt nice as a mountain retreat. Space is well designed and hosts are great! If you like cats they are super friendly and cute.

  • Michelle and Esteve were extremely hospitable and kind. We are OBSESSED with their cat Pepe who cuddled with us this morning, and the place was better than expected! Everything was clean, we had our own space, and it was in a great location! Would definitely stay again!

  • Michelle and Esteve’s home is the perfect location for exploring the Black Mountain and Asheville areas. The space was lovely. They have taken the time to add the special touches in the rooms. We hope to return and use the outdoor seating area and firepit!

  • This is a really sweet place to stay. Michelle and Esteve make a point of giving their guests plenty of space while being perfectly available. Their home is delightful with fun touches everywhere. I had a blast playing foosball with my teenage son while we listened to old time LP records on the turntable. There is not usually so much for a mom to do with a teenage son, besides watch tv. It's a fantastic refuge!

Cute small house with a bonus room. There’s a guard cat living in the house. Cat is also in the pictures. There’s a pet snake in laundry room. There’s no interaction with the snake because it stays in the cage and it can’t come out so there’s absolutely no need to be startled. Cats name is Ginger and the snakes name is Esmeralda. Both of which are adorable and precious small animals. I believe that covers everything with my lovely home. Enjoy your stay at my wonderful home!!!
I am never home so you pretty much have the whole house to yourself. I only come in late at night to sleep. House has easy access to hwy 70 and I-40. About 15-20 minutes away from downtown Asheville. About 3-5 minutes away from Black Mountain.
There’s a bigger house right in back of my smaller house
  • Nothing fancy here but value is great. Most of all, Kenrick is a true gentleman. He is a super nice guy and the communication was immediate and clear. You're not getting aesthetics with his place but the bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby both nights. Price is fantastic and you're close to great hiking, great coffee and Asheville is very close. Highly recommended!

New listing from superhost! Take a short walk on well lit path to an oasis in the woods. A swinging bridge welcomes you to a quiet, cozy home in the trees, surrounded by native Laurel and abundant hardwoods. Listen to the birds while having your morning coffee on the deck or relax in the hot tub below. The home is located on 14 acres. Old Fort is 10 minutes to Black Mountain and 20 minutes to Asheville.
The treehouse has luxury bedding, LED fireplace, full internet connection, cable tv, heat/air, microwave, cook top, and refrigerator. We have an outdoor shower with hot water and composting toilet, all located on the deck overlooking the forest. Our driveway is approximately 1/3 of a mile long through the woods. We just had new gravel put on the road so your tires may spin slightly going up one of the hills until the gravel is fully packed down. https://bradcapone.com/unique-spaces-tree-house/?fbclid=IwAR3P9k3rTbtj9lUcAUl2x_HI_CgTMldWhM-LTZAzSUcilo5dcZEJJBwlXSY
  • Amazing place to unwind and relax. We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We went to Asheville for dinner both nights, so the drive is not that bad from the treehouse. The attention to detail was top notch. Better than any 5 star hotel I've ever stayed at. From the outside shower, hot tub, fireplace, comfortable bed to the donuts...we loved every bit of it. Melissa was quick to respond to our messages. Thank you for an amazing stay!

  • This place was so unique and pristine. My significant other and I had a relaxing long weekend and it was an experience like none other. The treehouse is close to the owners home but still with plenty of privacy. We were able to have her son take us into the Biltmore and back which was fantastic and super convenient. We have some great memories from our treehouse adventure. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat!!

It is an open living space flooded with natural light from the south facing windows,a mountain view and fantastic views of both the sunrise and the sunset. It has a kitchen, dining table, sofa, futon and its own bathroom. There is one large dark bed room with queen size bed. This space is Wi-Fi free but has an Ethernet cable for connection to the internet.
Arya Tara is the name of this sacred, conscious space that I call home, at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. When I bought this land and decided to build, she spoke to me very clearly. She showed me what the current energetic set up of the land was, how it engaged with the surrounding area, and how what I built could help heal the existing energetic blockages in the local terrain. Specifically, she showed me that if I chose this particular lot (I had a choice of 10), then I would build on what looked like a broken vortex. My mission was to build a structure that connected deep into the land via the depth of this vortex (accessing emptiness), then move the energy upward with internal and external design, connecting the deep earth with the sky. This creates a model for and encourages flow in the land and house which also sets a standard for a flow state of being in the people who engage with her. The work done in the home would restore that broken vortex, and allow it to blossom further energetically, energizing the surrounding land and creating the home as a transformational power center for those who lived or visited it. She told me that my daily living and work would naturally contribute to the creation of restoration of the vortex, and that I was to also hold groups here, which would increase the power of the vortex after it’s return to coherence. I could see how this process would take time, and that I should allow the progression patiently, waiting for the home to build and become a mature entity, gaining facets of beauty over time. I have watched her over these 3 years become this beautiful being, contributing silently yet profoundly to those who enter her sacred space. I am blessed to be the caretaker of her, and also realize that more and more she is becoming an individualized entity of her own. I received her name in meditation as Arya Tara. The listening and receiving of her name is a signification for me that it is her time to offer herself more publicly. Now she can be named as a sacred space holder and referred to in events created and held in this space. I honor her as providing shelter, fanning the flames of creativity within her walls, continually nurturing her occupants toward awakening, inviting benefic energies and protecting from destructive energies. I was not surprised when her name was revealed, as mother goddess. ~ Thessa Sophia ~
This is a rural neighborhood in a small community called Solairus. We have shared land with a playground, campground, creek and shared gardens.
  • We highly recommend Thessa's space. Amazing views, extremely relaxing. Near many must visit areas. Amazing waterfalls 5 miles away. Lots to explore.

  • This space is beautiful. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway that’s still close to all of the Asheville-area attractions, this is your spot. Lovely family, incredible views, and all the amenities you could need.

  • Great views, loving family and welcoming home. Grateful for Daniel and Thessa. Will be visiting again very soon

  • Great place to stay! The view is by far one of the best!! If you can catch a sunrise, you won’t be disappointed. Clean and perfect location to Black Mountain and Montreal.

    Kate2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely view, and an incredible stay at the perfect place. The space was clean and Daniel was so helpful. Definitely would come back!

    Carolyn2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a stunning place to stay. I loved waking up to birds chirping and having the mountains right outside the door. Thessa and Daniel were very welcoming, and also very respectful of space. 30 minutes outside of Asheville, and 10min from Catawba Falls, Pisgah National Forest, 20 min from Montreat, 10min from Black Mountain. You'll never run out of places to explore! I loved staying in this area over the center of Asheville because it really was in the middle of mountains. Definitely bring food so you're not having to leave all the time for meals. There's no wifi and my friend and I didn't have any service in the house, but we liked it that way-- there is an ethernet cable. We'll definitely be back!

Relatively private campsite on the piece of paradise we call Munay Sanctuary. All camping needs (except sleeping bag) are provided. This space is a perfect for a quiet and peaceful getaway. There is plenty of beauty and fun nearby or you can relax right here. It is a place to unplug and relax as there is no electricity or WiFi. There is a very nice outhouse and a portable solar shower.
We are just a short hop over the mountain to the sweet little town of Black Mountain and just a 30 minute drive to downtown Asheville. We are in the quiet country, foothills of Black Mountain, surrounded by unlimited peace and adventure. There is something for everyone here in the mountains! We have one campsite for guests that is located within a 3.5 acre fenced area on 14 acres. You will have plenty of privacy, as our home is on the opposite corner of the 3.5 acres. Feel free to grab a salad out of the organic garden when available!
We are in the country so there are neighbors who like to shoot their guns, but overall it's a pretty quiet and peaceful setting.
  • Very pleasant stay!

  • Great hospitality and great location!

    Cierra2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great camping space. It was nice to be able to tent camp and yet still get to sleep on a mattress and get cleaned up with the solar shower.

    Melissa2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted a quiet retreat in the country and this is exactly what i got. What an amazing place: peaceful, secluded but not isolated, everything you need for cooking and camping, and did i mention peace! Kelli was super quick to reply to all my questions, the camp was easy to find (note: GPS is wrong on the last step as it tells you to turn on the neighbor's street but if you actually look for the address, it's very well indicated on the street). their house is not far but it's not visible from the camp; it's really in it's own little cleaing in the woods. If you're looking for an alternative to noisy camping ground with too many people but don't want to go camp in the wild either, this is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing place with me!

  • The suite is located in a nice neighborhood in the hills just South of town - very scenic and quiet. I even had a black bear amble through Saturday morning. The suite is very spacious, well appointed, and has lots of thoughtful touches. Comfy bed and HUGE shower. You're only a couple minutes from the local grocery and 5min from the quaint downtown of Black Mountain. I would definitely stay here again when I return to town.

  • Awesome place to stay, just close enough to the city without the hustle and bustle of the city. We had an amazing time staying here and would love to stay again when we come back to Asheville. Thank you so much to Sheila and Kyle for such a wonderful stay. Oh, I almost forgot but,it snowed while we were there, which was absolutely beautiful to look out the bedroom doors and see the snow fall just outside.

Cozy Arts and Crafts home. Walk to historic Black Mountain on the nearby greenway trail. Tour the largest Community Garden in WNC a five minute walk away. Hike the 1100 acre YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly mountain ridge behind our home. Our home was built in 1937 and follows the standard Arts and Crafts model straight out of design books. The home still has the original hardwood floors. As a guest in our home, you are welcome to retreat to your room or share communal space with us at the dining table, make a meal in our kitchen, or join us on the couch for games or a movie if we all feel so inclined. We have two full bathrooms. The main bathroom is also used by our children. While staying with us you will have first priority, but note that there is not a private bath included in your stay. Although we are a busy family, we love visiting with guests and sharing meals and stories when our schedules allow. We are equally adept at giving folks privacy or engaging you in life. We live in one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. In one day just two miles in either direction from our home, you can be alone on top of a mountain by day, and dancing tango to a live orchestra (or enjoying a similarly amazing live performance) by night at our lovely local music venue, The White Horse. Black Mountain is host to many fantastic restaurants, four retreat centers with excellent hiking trails, a network of greenway trails, and farms and community gardens worth visiting. In the summertime, we can direct you to our favorite local swimming holes and waterfalls. You can hop on the Asheville Rapid Transit bus to get into Asheville, just 20 minutes away. Otherwise, Black Mountain is accessible by bike or walking. We have a large, friendly dog. If you don't shut the door to your room tight, he may wake you before your alarm clock.
  • Great stay! Gracious hosts with personal touches. Cozy and comfortable.

  • This was my second stay at Diana's and it was just as lovely as the first. She is an excellent host with lots of local recommendations (and great taste, so you can trust where she recommends!).

    Rachel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Yoga Sanctuary had a familial warmth. I felt totally supported by the space while I was doing some deep work that weekend. A lot of uplifting bright energy in that home!

    Brianna2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Diana and Brett are incredibly thoughtful, kind hosts and have created such a lovely, peaceful space. They are in an amazing location - their town is so sweet and has fantastic hiking spots, delicious bakeries/restaurants/coffee (definitely get their recommendations for these!), live music and other events so you don't even have to go into Asheville for things to do, but Asheville is still only 20 minutes away. The space is extremely comfortable - I slept so well in the cozy bed and enjoyed a shower in the bathroom with a heated floor. Communication and self check-in with Diana could not have been easier. I really enjoyed my stay here and would love to stay here again next time I make it to this area!

    Julie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome host family! Room and space was what you’d expect, a place to stay, but they really bring you in and you are home away from home! Highly recommend staying here!

Private Room on a mini farm just minutes outside of downtown Black Mountain. My dad resides here and I manage this listing for him. Full bathoom shared with one other guest room and campsite as well. This unit is seperate from my father's home, so guests have a seperate entrance, shared with other guests. This space is kept extremely affordable as we offer travelers a simple space to rest when they pass through. It is in need of some rest. Comfy bed and warm shower for the price if camping.
Just minutes to downtown Black Mountain. Short drive to Asheville. pretty Mountain Views from this room. Double Sink has one sink not working. And garden tub is out if order as well. Please be aware carpet does have stain and is in need if replacement. We offer this affordable space to travelers who simply need a space to sleep and get a warm shower

  • Jody was a great host— communicative and responsive. The place is a great value, just what you would expect for the price. Coffee is a nice touch. Geese can be quite loud, and may bother a light sleeper. I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for a good value, no frills place to sleep with a hot shower.

  • We only stay at Jody’s place for 1 night but it was great. We had a bit of difficulty finding the house address as it was late and dark but other than that it was perfect. We wish we could have stay longer as to enjoy the afternoon views on the mountains. I highly recommended.

Experience the best that Black Mountain has to offer from this unique one of a kind experience! This quaint living space is directly above a little food market and cafe and overlooks a beautiful garden and greenhouse. Only steps away from the heart of Black Mountain and a fifteen-minute drive to downtown Asheville, you will have all of your travel needs met. Wake up every morning to be greeted by the beauty of the garden
This is truly a one of a kind AirBnB experience in the area. Come stay with us and explore the beauty of our studio, market, cafe, and garden in the heart of Black Mountain! What really makes this place unique is the location and the business, the Roots and Fruits Market. Being above a market and the outside cafe overlooking a garden, It's a magic place to be! Lots of great things happen here such as the food and juice truck that's outside, seasonal Sunday brunch with live music, watching the garden grow and be harvested, enjoy watching the chickens, interacting with people, or just walk around the garden (of course, seasonally that is). The market is open 7 days a week so you will see people around the market area if you choose to. We want people to feel relaxed and comfortable with everything you may need to start the day off right! . The studio is unique based on the colors of the rooms and cozy layout of the floor plan! This space includes a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, bath tub, and bedroom. We like to think this place is perfect for a couple, a solo traveler, and a group of friends who don't mind sharing space. The bedroom is a short walk away from the kitchenette and does not have a closable door for full privacy from guests who are interested in sharing the studio with two or more.
We are located right in the heart of downtown Black Moutain. Easy walk to great restaurants, bars, music, and gift shops.
  • Quaint, cozy, best fit for fall/ spring as it is an old building and a bit drafty. It is an attic apartment with very low ceilings in many places, so if you’re over 6ft tall you wouldn’t be too cozy. It has a rustic humble mountain vibe. No TV which was a bummer at first but we managed just fine! Clean, quiet and just as described. Loved it!

Best for strong sleepers perhaps. Besides that the space is really special. It's a great location and makes for a very cozy stay.

Very nice secluded mountain cabin, perfect for self isolation (quarantine ) . Completely sanitary . Super clean. No neighbors. The stores in the area are well stocked with everything. No cases of corona virus in the area. Why not escape the madness, and all the people, and stay at a beautiful creekside cabin. The cabin is set on 7 acres of private property, with 1000s of acres of pisgah National forest, as boundaries. No people, just wildlife. Also I am offering a service to pickup groceries etc

Easy off/on I40 access for those just passing through (last minute/late check-in is fine) or visiting your favorite WNC spots. Also great for Airbnb newbies. No curfew; come and go as you please. Just minutes from Black Mtn, Montreat, Ridgecrest, Asheville, and hiking trails, we have a lovely cozy queen guest room with private bath ready for you. After a good night's rest, enjoy coffee and muffins in the sunroom, or get them to go and head out for your glorious western NC adventures!
Enter the farmhouse and your private room and adjoining bath are just steps away in a quiet corner of the downstairs. Don’t worry about noise or the tv. We hear almost nothing upstairs, even your creeping into the kitchen for a midnight snack! Bev always has fruit and muffins available. We’re located only a couple minutes off I-40. Ideal for couples visiting their college student or enjoying local attractions. It's also a safe place for a single person. Some of the regions best hiking trails are literally minutes away. Ridgecrest Conference Center is a short walk down the hill. Our property is adjacent to Camp Crestridge for Girls and the boys' camp is about a mile. Montreat College and Warren Wilson are a very short drive, and Asheville, Biltmore Estate, and Blue Ridge Parkway are only 15 minutes away. Perfect for festival vendors or guests. Racers love the intense water pressure in the shower! Relax on the front porch with a complimentary glass of wine or your morning coffee.
This area was once a Baptist enclave of church lodges and summer cabins. Ours is one of the oldest and dearest--a pretty white farmhouse built in 1909. We also have a quaint guest cottage outback for groups up to 6. It's called Outback Cabin.
  • This is a great place for a great price. Beverly was very kind and accommodating - she had everything you could need in the small but very comfortable room and private bathroom, plus a wonderful assortment of coffees and breakfast items.

  • Beverly's place was perfect for us. Believe it or not the setting is better than what it looks like in the pictures. The space is small, yes, but Beverly has done a masterful job of using the space. I would call it cozy more than small. Then her hospitality is the best part. She doesn't have to tell you that she loves doing this because you can tell it as soon as she greets you. We give it our highest recommendation! I just hope it is available when we need to come there again because I will be our first choice.

    Gilia2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Bev and Joe's place for three nights while attending a conference at Ridgecrest nearby. The location was super-convenient and Bev and Joe were delightful hosts and welcomed us right into their home. They were also very patient with us going in and out multiple times a day during the conference. We would definitely recommend their home to anyone visiting the area.

  • Bev and Joe’s place was perfect for a one night stay for a concert in Asheville. The responses were quick and they were very accommodating with a special request. The “suite” offers privacy and was perfect for us. Do not pass on the muffins as they were delicious! We got to speak with the hosts as we were leaving and they were both friendly and gave us some great recommendations. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back for future Asheville trips!

Welcome to our clean and cozy home on almost 3 wooded acres in a quiet neighborhood. Spend time on the private back deck with winter views of mountains. A sweet retreat yet only 4 minutes to the highway and centrally located among some of Western North Carolina's best attractions. 15 mins. to Black Mountain or Marion. 30 mins. to Asheville or Lake James. The area abounds with many natural attractions within an hour in any direction. Hiking, waterfalls, water sports and biking areas nearby.
The home has 3 levels and you would have the entire main level to yourself. **Our Co-Host Isa lives in the separate basement apartment.** This cozy and comfortable home can accommodate individuals, couples, small groups and families up to 5 people. Private front door entrance into medium size living room with comfortable seating and tv. It has a full kitchen, with island seating, appliances and stocked with cooking and eating essentials. Two bedrooms have queen beds and one has a single bed. Full linens and closet space provided. Large bathroom with shower/ tub. Outside you have a covered front porch in the front with rocking chairs and a small cafe table great for enjoying your morning coffee or tea. Private back deck with seating overlooking large backyard and surrounded by trees and winter views of mountains. You have access to the backyard and woods. Large circular driveway has plenty of parking for several vehicles. Our long time friend and caretaker Isa lives in the separate basement apartment with its own entrance. He works full time so please respect quiet hours between 11pm and 6am. He keeps to himself but will be around most mornings if needed and can give suggestions on great local places for hiking, kayaking and biking if you want. This is our homestead that we've owned for 12 years and continue to maintain and improve. We currently live 35 mins. away. But it is still our dream home that we have put a lot of love into and we are excited to share with others.
This is a very safe and pretty quiet neighborhood. But it is a working class neighborhood so there will be cars leaving in the morning and kids getting off the school bus in the afternoon. But throughout most of the day and nights are mostly very quiet, besides the birds and squirrels. You may also hear goats and chickens and dogs that live in the neighborhood. The town of Old Fort is small but there is a nice library, the Gateway museum, Painter's Greenhouse and Hillman Brewing (coming in 2020). There is a small local grocery in town and Walmart 10 mins. away in the growing town of Marion. Some great local hikes are Catawba Falls, Curtis Creek, and Toms Falls. Black Mountain, 15 mins away is filled with many great local restaurants, breweries, music venues and shops. As well as more great hiking and outdoor attractions.
  • Value for money and a great stay in woods

  • Jamie’s place was absolutely stunning, and it looked so rich in history. It had everything we could possibly need including cookware, Netflix, and a hot tub. The hot tub was clean and had a sign up and cleaning sheet so it was well taken care of. There was a bit of a misunderstanding on our arrival time, but Jamie was on the phone with us and over at the house lightning fast to assist us, and gave us a partial refund. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Asheville!

Welcome to Black Mountain Base Camp, our detached guest cottage with separate entry, located at the base of Rainbow Mountain, just 1.5 miles from downtown Black Mt.! BMBC is nestled snuggly into the side of the mountain, high enough to have a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and sunset (when the trees are leafless), but with easy, mostly paved, access. No 4wd needed. BMBC has recently been updated. Just a 15 min drive to Asheville! Nice deck for relaxing, yoga, coffee, etc.
***Please note: Black Mountain Base Camp is a pet-free facility. Like music? Enjoy the sound of your favorite tunes filling the cottage via Base Camp's Amazon Echo, featuring Amazon's Music Unlimited, giving you free & endless access to over 50 million songs, ad-free, with unlimited skips! Just say, "Alexa, play greatest hits from the 90's" or "Alexa, play Fleetwood Mac's Rumours Album", etc. Need to do some work during your stay? BMBC has a workspace desk for your convenience. Ever find it difficult to get your rented space the right temperature? Base Camp's indoor climate is easily adapted to your preference with two remote-controlled, ductless air conditioner / heating units. Are you a coffee or tea drinker? You will enjoy the fresh taste of our deep-mountain well water - makes delicious tea or coffee, with none of the added chlorine or fluoride of city water :) Speaking of coffee, Base Camp has a k-cup style brewer and we always keep plenty of organic coffee stocked up, as well as powdered creamer and a few varieties of tea. Want to wind-down with your favorite streaming media after a long day of exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains? Base Camp has a smart t.v. in both the living room (50"!) and bedroom (32"), so everyone can wind-down & enjoy their favorite shows/movies. Both have a variety of apps built-in. Netflix and Hulu (including Live stations & no commercials) are already logged in and included free with your stay! Like a large, comfy bed? In the bedroom you will find a king-sized, comfortable IKEA bed with a medium-firm mattress. Sleep better with sound? On the headboard, you'll find a great, easy-to-use white-noise machine, that produces natural white-noise, not the electronic kind. Anyone sleeping on the sofa sleeper can utilize Alexa via the Amazon Echo to play white noise or other ambient sleep sounds as well. Want to cook during your stay? The fully-equipped kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware, but if you find yourself needing anything else just message Kenny. Want to gather your group for a meal? The dining area has a table that can accommodate seating for up to six people. Need extra sleeping space? The sofa-sleeper in the living room contains a queen-sized mattress, so there’s plenty of room for two. We have also recently added a thick mattress topper for the sofa bed, which makes it much more comfortable. You will find this in the bedroom closet.
When you're at Base Camp, you feel like you're out in the country, yet you're just a 2 minute drive (1.5 miles) from downtown Black Mountain, nominated as one of the prettiest small towns in America by Trip Advisor! And Asheville is just a 15 minute drive down I-40. We do have a few neighboring homes, so you won't feel completely removed from civilization. We love the country/nature sounds & surroundings. We are lucky to have a family of deer that visits frequently, and to be able to hear the distant train as it passes Black Mountain throughout the day. We are far from the tracks, so it is not enough to disturb, just enough to hear faintly & enjoy, especially from outside on the deck.
  • Kenny and Julie’s wonderful hideaway is tucked into a gorgeous part of the mountains in the Black Mountain area—and within easy driving distance of Asheville. The space is comfortably and thoughtfully decorated. Its location away from any kind of hustle or bustle makes it ideal for anyone looking to ‘get away from it all’ while having easy access to restaurants and the grocery store in Black Mountain proper. They provide excellent directions for getting there and are communicative, helpful hosts. My partner and I only wished our stay had been longer, and he and I would definitely stay here again given the chance.

  • A quaint little hideaway nestled around a beautiful creek. If your looking for delightful yet simple and reasonably priced accommodations, this would be it! My husband and I stayed two nights and enjoyed dinner in Black Mountain a short drive from the camper. We also grabbed some quick supplies from the Walmart that’s about a 10-15 min drive to Marion. Old Fort is charming and worth taking a Little stroll through town to get a feel for the area. The camper is laid out well so it flows nicely. The camper is dated but comfortable. Easy instructions for arrival and check out. Mike has supplied all the little necessities one might need for a camper stay. The air conditioner worked well and never had to have it on high. The nights were perfect and didn’t have to use the air at all. We kept the windows open. Small but manageable shower with enough hot water for two quick showers. There are neighbors but you can’t see them from the camper. We felt safe and comfortable. We took time to sit and catch up on some reading by the creek with our folding bag chairs that we brought. The creek is a short stroll and you can hear it from the camper. We had a small camp fire one evening. Mike had wood available but we brought a little bundle just in case but never had to use it. Mike was quick to communicate Any information needed. The driveway can appear intimidating but is easy to back down to, and if you have a smaller vehicle, you can turn around at the bottom with little effort. We would stay here again for sure.

  • The camper is very quaint and as described. The creek nearby is very nice and it is a great private space by the woods. Host was helpful and responsive.

This is a light and bright traditionally decorated room situated on the second floor of our home. It looks out on a nice view of a mountain ridgeline. Your private bath is a full one with tub and shower. The queen-sized bed has a comfortable mattress. Fresh towels will be provided daily, if you wish. You have a large-screen TV with satellite service--lotsa channels. Wifi service is provided. Reasonably priced therapeutic massage is offered on the premises by Carol. We are a couple, both in our early seventies, both in good health. We walk daily, ride bikes some days, and take advantage of classes and a pool at our YMCA, located about a mile from our home. Both of us volunteer in the community. It’s our habit to quietly read late night, so the whole house usually becomes quiet early. We won't provide breakfast, but you may stash stuff in our second fridge and use our washer and dryer if you wish. You'll enjoy the shops on nearby Cherry Street and beyond. Arts and crafts are bountiful here in Black Mountain and throughout the mountains. We are a half-mile from an I-40 on-ramp. I-40 gives you a quick ride westward into Asheville. Traffic inside Black Mountain is usually pretty easy to navigate and most of the sights of the town are within walking-distance of our house. Two blocks away, there's a farm-to-table restaurant, very quaint and quaintly named Louise's for the owner's grandma. They serve dynamite coffee that's endlessly poured for you once you've purchased the first cup. A full-service health food store is two-and-a-half blocks away. Black Mountain is a gem of a town. We chose it 29 years ago and love calling it our home. Come see what it's like. It's likely you'll like it, too.
Our neighborhood is most walkable, quiet and unpretentious. We’re less than 3 blocks from downtown. Many of our guests save themselves parking worry by leaving their cars here when they visit restaurants and stores downtown. We walk on the nearby Black Mountain campus of Montreat College almost every day. We encourage our guests to do the same.
  • Jim and Carol's place was perfect for a quick stay in Black Mountain. I made a last minue reservation and they were very accomodating. The space was very comfortable and it was nice to have a private bathroom. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Carol made me coffee in the morning, and I had a lovely conversation with her. A great place to stay and I definitely will stay again next time I'm in Black Mountain. :)

  • Jim and Carol's home was cozy and clean. The location was so convenient. Right off I40. You could walk to town from their house. Carol was easy to communicate with and was so nice to greet me and visit a bit, but gave me lots of privacy.

  • Lovely, comfortable home with friendly, thoughtful hosts. It was very easy to find, had a comfy bed, plentiful parking, easy check in/out. Thank you, Carol and Jim!

  • Jim and Carol are great hosts! This was our first time renting a room through airbnb and it was a great experience. We had our own private space and bathroom. Their house is in a great location with many shops, restaurants and bars/breweries in walking distance. Louise’s Kitchen was our favorite restaurant and is a 3 minute walk. Also, BAD craft is an awesome shop with unique and local art, delicious desserts and local beer and is also a short walk from Jim and Carol’s.

  • My stay at Jim and Carol’s was quite fine, as I expected from other reviews. They were very gracious and wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Will stay again when I am back in the area.

A zen den for dreaming in a house full of sun. Sink into solo time, or mix and mingle in the beautiful yard and gardens. Just a 10-15 minute stroll to downtown Black Mountain, parks, hiking, dining, and more. 3 miles to pisgah brewing, and 20 minutes drive to downtown Asheville. All peoples welcome.
Set up as a sweet, simple, and soulful bohemian tiny house... This little space is its own little house off of the main house, with bathroom and mini kitchen to accommodate all your simple living needs. It is attached to my sunny little bungalow in a quaint neighborhood with lush gardens, hammocks, porches, and greenhouse. This is a great space to taste the middle ground between hippie homesteading and progressive Asheville arts culture. The den is decorated with art from local artist (my father), Peter Chumbley. All art work is for sale, so let me know if you'd like to take something home! You can also find his work in the nearby town of Brevard, NC at Number7 arts. The main house is residence for myself, my housemate, my queen cat, Chai and big pup Zefur. My two children also live here with me part time- Wednesday am through Saturday afternoon (usually). Noise can sometimes carry into the den from the kitchen, though we do our best to honor quiet hours from 10pm til 7am. There is often soft music playing, birds chirping, and a very fluffy kitten purring throughout the day. [You may meet Chai cat in the gardens, but she's not allowed in your den] :)
This is a wonderful, quiet, neighborhood. We all respect and look out for each other. One of my neighbors is a Baptist Church. They usually aren't around unless it's a Wednesday night or Sunday morning. We are welcome to use their parking lot for parking, and/or basketball games.
  • Very clean, cute space in an awesome, quiet neighborhood close to downtown Asheville— you don’t feel surrounded by noise and traffic all the time but have access to the fun at any time. She was very thoughtful in leaving out spring water to drink during your stay and tips for where to go and what to do. Her dads art decorating the place is absolutely adorable too, my husband and I bought a painting as a memoir of our trip. Loved the experience!

  • It was a great place to crash after a fun day in Asheville! Everything was really clean. We'd stay there again!

  • Comfortable and clean! Love the art:)

  • We had a wonderful time here. It can be a little noisy when people are in the kitchen(very rarely), but overall we had no problems. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to keep the room cool even with the hot temperatures outside.

  • We had a great time staying here! Perfect location to explore black mountain, and a short drive to asheville! The space is small, but the space is used well, very clean and so cute! The bed is so comfy, The shower is AMAZING and the hosts were very respectful and helpful. They thought of little things like complimentary coffee, shampoos, and even loose leaf tea! It was a great and easy experience!

Christina seems very chill and hospitable. A short walk into Black Mountain through cute neighborhoods. A perfect stopping place :)
