Places to stay in North Yorkshire
With amazing views of the Yorkshire Dales this is a perfect retreat. A big comfy bed and fairy lights enables you to relax with your loved one. Toilet, shower, kitchen area, settee and dining set are inside. Decking area with covered hot tub over looking amazing views and separate balcony to sit outside. Toast, Tea and coffee facilities are included. A network of paths go through our working farm with river and forest and higher land to explore together. Perfect for walking and bird watching.
The treehouse has one main room and a bathroom with shower and toilet. The double bed is very comfortable! Table and chairs for eating and drinking. Kitchen area with 2 ring hob, small oven, fridge, microwave, toaster kettle. Included are tea, coffee, juice, bread and jams for toast. There are breath taking views of Nidderdale from your tree balcony. The large decking area houses the hot tub which can be used between 5 and 11pm. It’s covered so can be used any weather but is open fronted so you can enjoy the amazing views.
It's a peaceful location with beautiful walks in every direction and some lovely quirky places to eat. Nidderdale has so much to offer and we are right in the heart of it.. 3 miles from the town of Pateley Bridge... 5 minutes drive or a beautiful walk along the river side. Around Pateley Bridge there are cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, a leisure centre with swimming pool, Nidderdale Lamas, Bewerley Horse Riding Centre, Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge, Stump Cross Caverns, Studfold Aventure Trail and so much more! Cycling- we live in a private mile long road which is not a cycle path. As much as we don’t have an issue with our guests cycling, other business and properties on the lane do. They do have the right to stop you if you meet them on their stretch of the lane on a cycle I’m afraid and have done in past years.
  • Had a fabulous weekend at the treehouse! Had everything we needed, and the hot tub was lovely with amazing views! Emma was a wonderful host, we will definatly be returning very soon! Thank you!x

  • Emma's treehouse was everything we hoped and more! We stayed for 3 nights; it's such a cute place with lots of fairy lights (which is always a plus) and is in an ideal location to visit a lot of cool places. We went to Brimham rocks and Stump Cross Caverns which I would highly recommend. Emma kept in touch the whole time we stayed and was such a thoughtful host. She provided breakfast items and all the essentials 😊 Emma invited us to see the lambing on the farm and I got to hold the cutest and fluffiest lamb which I really wanted to take home with us! The hot tub was a great way to end our days there too. All around fab experience and we will hopefully be returning soon!

    Jessica2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is situated with scenic views all around. You can expect complete privacy. The host was great, provided step by step travelling instructions and was present on arrival to run through everything. Very approachable and friendly. The treehouse itself was cute and cozy, it really is how it’s described, if not better, I would definitely be returning and have put it down as one of my top ten places to visit!

  • Beautiful space for a quiet weekend away! Treehouse was lovely, even though the storms tried to put us off we enjoyed it nonetheless. Hot tub in the snow was a new experience! Emma is very helpful and welcoming, would very much stay again, although maybe in better weather next time! 😊

    Evelyn2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Emma’s Treehouse was amazing! We had the best time for my boyfriends 30th birthday. On arrival Emma had put up birthday balloons and laid out some lovely birthday touches which my boyfriend loved! Even though it was freezing outside, with the heater on the treehouse was so cosy! On day 1 we got snowed in, but Emma offered any help getting supplies and also lent us sledges which provided LOTS of fun. Emma also invited us to meet and feed the new baby lambs! It was so interesting getting an insight into farm life! Hot tub is also delightful and a lovely extra. We will definitely return!

  • The weekend my other half and I spent in Emma's treehouse was absolutely spectacular. Exactly as advertised, with some extra little touches she had added in. Everything had been so well thought out. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome and were even invited to feed her newborn lambs. We stayed during the height of a storm and she could not have been more accommodating, offering us alternative accommodation a little more sheltered from the storm if we wished to use it. We had the use of her hot tub in the evenings and were even lent robes to use to get to and from her tub. We are already looking at dates when we can go back and stay again. I could not recommend this place enough. Absolutely fantastic.

    Danielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is gorgeous, lots of personal cosy touches. The farm and nearby areas are also very idyllic. Emma’s directions were spot on and we found the place with relative ease. We were unfortunately quite late on arrival, but Emma is extremely gracious and all round diamond. Couldn’t do enough for us, the hot tub and meeting the lambs are top highlights. Incredibly reasonable prices with hindsight too. Would love to come again and would recommend to anyone wanting relaxation and an explore.

    Catherine2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was everything we hoped for and Emma was very accommodating with super quick replies. On our first morning Emma asked if we would like to see the newborn lambs which was very thoughtful, it was incredible and Emma was very informative and warm. We felt very lucky that Emma thought to include us in a part of what life is like at the farm. This was something that I would’ve expected from a paid experience via Air BnB. Emma also provided us with really good suggestions for outings and good food. The Hot tub was also amazing!!! My girlfriend and I would 100% come again. Thanks so much Emma ☺️☺️☺️

Augill Castle : much better than a hotel : unlike anywhere you have ever stayed before. In Cumbria's Eden Valley between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, England's two most popular national parks, Augill is set in it's own twenty acres of grounds. Easy going, relaxed but still ridiculously romantic and decadently comfortable. We'll do everything we can to make you feel as if you have arrived as guests, and will leave as friends.
The ORANGERY is on the ground floor outside the main castle, with huge arched gothic windows opening onto your own secluded garden and the castle gardens beyond. There is a modern open top four poster bed, stunning bronze wall and fabulous contemporary bathroom, and a connecting day room has a French style metal day bed which opens as two full sized singles. Requests can be made for a particular room but we reserve the ability to move you between these rooms to accommodate other guests.
Augill Castle sits in the geographical centre of the British Isles in the stunning countryside of the Eden Valley. Sitting at the foot of the Pennines and surrounded by the Lakeland Fells and Yorkshire Dales, the castle has 15 acres of wild gardens, lawns, paddocks and flower beds. It is the ultimate English gentleman's retreat. Built as a folly by an eccentric man, the castle is a fine essay in Victorian castle building.
  • Absolutely beautiful both inside and out! The staff was superb as was the food, accommodations, and experience!!! Without a doubt we would stay here again, next time for longer!!!

    Melissa2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a nice experience. Beautiful place. Love the grounds. Our bed was heavenly! Beautiful bedding and attention to detail with bathroom amenities. Great English castle experience!

  • An absolutely amazing stay in this fabulous old building. Great bed. Awesome breakfast to start the day. Thank you very much !😀

    Allan2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Just fantastic. Peaceful location, fantastic accommodation, friendly hosts, brilliant atmosphere. Great touches all over the house - and a very welcome attitude to 'explore' and discover. Hats, swords, pictures, blankets, games, a cinema (!) and loads more. Highly recommended!

    Tony2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, a real castle experience. Food was excelent and best part is everyone’s hospitability. Highly recommended!!

    Sergio2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • I’d like to recommend to anyone who is looking for castle-living. That is amazing stay and my kids love it very much. The little one can play at the toy room for a whole day. The castle is close to the Lake District. It is totally fine if you want to go and back at the same day. There is some miss understanding when we booked the room. Wendy give us two beds with a reasonable price, which is really nice. We will surely come and visit next time.

    Fan2019-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolutely fantastic experience staying at Augill Castle and we will definitely come back. Everything was spot on and the food was excellent! The rooms and the exterior are even nicer than in the pictures. We highly recommend this accommodation.

    Patrick2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Augill Castle is truly special. The history of the place, the way Simon and Wendy have restored it, and the way they run it today were all exceptional. I loved the informal nature of our stay--it really feels like you're with family when you're at Augill. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to the Lake District. And the rooms (and linens!) are incredible to boot.

This is Glamping at its best, self checkin and self contained and safe for quarantine and essential workforce bookings. Cleaned to a high standard and disinfected before and after each booking. Get away from it all, in this luxury heated Sleepy Squirrel Pod, essentially self catering, modern equipped kitchen, ensuite, luxurious double bed, quality bed linen, bathrobes, towels, blackout blinds. Spend a wonderful weekend in this unique compact Pod with a woodland view + patio.
Enjoy moonlight and star gazing in this Eco pod with all the luxury of a five star apartment! This pod is 6m x 3m and has a compact kitchen, table and chairs for cosy dining, an ensuite bathroom with a double shower, constant supply of hot running water and a mains lavatory, electric radiators, little electric stove and a heated blanket:) In the spirit of "getting away from it all " the pod does not have a TV but I do provide a radio, books and games Please note: that WiFi is available on the front porch of the pod and the surrounding areas, the signal doesn't seem to permeate the 2 layers of solid wood, layer of foil or the wool insulation. If you require full WIFI signal and SKY Catchup TV, see my other listing "King bed with Ensuite and full english breakfast" in the main Lodge. Sleeps 2 adults in a double bed, and there's enough room for another person or child on a zed bed or airbed or cot bed, this fits in at the foot of the double bed. The pod is made of larch wood, and insulated with a good layer or wool, there's also a layer of foil to keep you Cosy and warm, or cool if soaring summer temperatures need to be kept in check... But this is Yorkshire so we live in hope:)) there's a double glazed bespoke circular door and a window to the side overlooking woodland, this provides you with good natural lighting and air circulation. You will find plenty of coat hooks for walking jackets, a single wardrobe with drawers and a hairdryer. There's head height of 2.5m which gives a feeling of space, unlike the great outdoor tents. The pod is self catering, a local supermarket is just a short walk. Although, in the fridge and on the shelves you will find enough milk to make a warm drink or two, orange juice, bread/crumpets, homemade jam and marmalade, butter and a good selection of coffee, tea, biscuits and chocolates to help you relax! These are complimentary just enjoy :) There are plenty of books and a radio in the pod. The pod has a stone patio area with a table and chairs for you to have breakfast or a late night star gazing experience... Guests are asked politely not to smoke, or light candles, the structure is made entirely of wood , therefore for safety reasons naked flames are not allowed under any circumstances . For ambiance I can provide you with some LED flickering tea lights. Guests are free light candles safely on the patio or garden.
The immediate area is extremely quiet and peaceful, my home is adjacent to a woodland, and a very pretty open (not spooky) cemetery with two beautiful Gothic chapels, one faces North and one South, neither of which are used for any ecclesiastical purposes, but have been converted into office space. The cemetery is used regularly throughout the day and into the evening by dog walkers, and walkers wanting to take a leisurely stroll along the river, or cross the bridge to Middleton Woods (known by locals as Bluebell Woods). From the bedroom window squirrels can be seen scurrying up and down nearby trees, rabbits can be watched playing at dawn and dusk and there's also an owl that can sometimes be heard hooting at night. The pod is in my garden with lawns patios, flowerbeds, trees and the sleeping area overlooks the adjacent woodland. My home is near a Yorkshire Water plant, only water is filtered here to produce drinkable clean water, and any odorous waste is removed and treated at a plant 12 miles away. The wind predominantly blows south to easterly along the river Wharfe, which is in the opposite direction of my home and downstream towards Burley in Wharfedale. Ashlands Road is also the home of the award winning micro brewery "Ilkley Brewery" a bottle of Mary Jane is highly recommended! Although the Pod is self catering, I have left you a supply of tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolates, homemade Jam and Cardamom Marmalade, crumpets, fresh milk in the fridge, enough to start your break. The local independent supermarket is just a 5 minute walk away.
  • Mechele was quick at replying, was very helpful and the pod was a cosy, fun and quirky place to stay

    Jon2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a place to relax, feel cosey but in a luxurious well maintained property look no further, you will no doubt love the indoor heated pool that’s all yours! With a stylish mini pad above that my teenage son found amazing, the log fire in the cottage kept us all warm and happy with large glass of wine in hand just chilling out, it was a great holiday and sad it wasn’t longer, but we will definitely book again!

    Jill2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at this beautiful and quaint cottage (with the added benefit of the pool house and hot tub). Couldn't fault the place at all, it exceeded our expectations. My five-year-old niece loved the pool, and we had a job of getting her to get out when it was time for bed! The house has fantastic amenities, and the added special treats from the host were well received and appreciated (wine for the adults and treats for the children). The cottage does feel like it is in the middle of nowhere, but this was ideal for our family weekend away. The two neighbouring cottages were friendly too. The cottage is ideally placed for going on long or short walks in the surrounding countryside. Plenty of farm animals to be seen! We took our own provisions, as the nearest shop is roughly a 20-minute drive away, but the cottage does have some existing provisions (tea, coffee, sugar etc). The towels and robes were greatly appreciated too. The house is well decorated, with some quirky accents (teapots) and really add to the farmhouse/cottage vibes. There are plenty of board games and quizzes to keep you busy on wet days, as well as the games room at the back of the property. The toy/ play area is also brilliant for children, again my five-year old-niece loved it. We would definitely stay again given the chance. Well worth the money!

  • We stayed at David's place for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday with family. The place is fantastic, facilities are on point, would highly recommend. David is ane excellent host, rapid replies, gives you all the information you need way in advance. Highly recommended!

  • Great house with loads to do and the pub down the road served brilliant food

    Thomas2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful family break at David’s cottage. Despite the horrendous weather, we had a fantastic time as there was so much to do. There are lots of beautiful walks accessible from outside of the front door and great amenities to enjoy at the cottage when we got back or if we just wanted to relax. We have a 10 year old who really enjoyed the pool and we all made very good use of the hot tub. There were lots of games, books and DVDs provided (which we didn’t actually need as the tv didn’t go on once). You really couldn’t ask for more to do here. Any issues we had (mainly due to the weather) were sorted out extremely quickly and David replied to messages within minutes. The only problem was that we wish we had longer! We will definitely be back!

  • An absolutely stunning location. We were incredibly lucky to have the best of the spring weather and be able to go and explore the beautiful countryside whilst still staying well isolated. A very private place to stay with lots of lovely little touches (a speaker, well stocked kitchen and some freshly laid eggs)! It really is very romantic and great for couples. We cant wait to come back again once the pubs are reopened and we can explore Ripon a little more!

    Sophia2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at The Hayloft! Perfect little break away with our dogs in a gorgeous and secluded area, just what we needed! Plenty of fab dog walks nearby and the land which the Airbnb is on is just beautiful, will definitely be back again.

  • Angela’s place was idyllic! Such a restful country retreat - cosy little cottage and beautiful grounds with hens and donkeys. Well located for Ripon and attractions of the Dales. Plenty of pubs and places to eat nearby. Would love to stay again sometime!

  • A lovely cosy cottage for a relaxing break. Good communication from the owner regarding directions and check-in instructions. Owner was really helpful when there was an issue with the heating and got it sorted straight away. Really useful information book left in the cottage which had loads of recommendations for places to eat. Good location with lots of things to do near by. We would love to return for another visit. Just a tip for anyone using satnav, we used google maps and if you type ‘Hayloft and Barn’ into the search it directed us straight to the cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Laura2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hayloft. Everything was very well thought out; from the shampoo and conditioner in the shower, to the binder that provided us with an array of places to visit and restaurants to eat at. The property was beautiful and the location was right around the corner from town. Angela was there to greet us upon arrival and was incredibly warm and friendly. The hayloft in itself was warm and homey as well. Angela did an exceptional job and providing the perfect little escape for a weekend get away, would highly recommend a stay at the pottery Lane farm.

  • I have been here a month already and still here . Loverly place . In a brilliant location . Seconds walk from various local shops. Walk in the other direction a few minutes to beautiful woodland walks . Apartment is trendy and quite spacious for a 1 bed . I only wish it had a washing machine , but have been using the laundrette a few mins walk away . Tom replies instantly , great communication and great stay . Will defiantly be recommending to friends and family . Fresh and clean place . Loverly housekeeper lady popped round to bring fresh towels and take the bins out . Bathroom is stunning and I like how the bedroom has the little courtyard area to sit out with a meal and glass of wine on an evening . Really loverly stay . Thanks again .

Superb luxury holiday accommodation. The Old Stables is a stunning barn conversion set in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. It has space in abundance, with a light airy contemporary feel yet retaining fabulous features such as the vast faulted ceiling and the underfloor heating keeps you cosy on those chilly evenings. The Spectacular bi-fold doors open out onto a lovely patio, garden and hot tub area, which is a fantastic sun trap.
  • What a fantastic break. Beautiful home in a fantastic location. Kath made everything so easy from the start. So warm and welcoming and the welcome package was such a nice touch. Everyone we met were so friendly and the hot tub was perfect. We can’t wait to go back again!

  • Lovely one night stay here. We decided to book a night away for my birthday and we made a great choice. Complimentary bottle of Prosecco waiting for us also bread jam and butter which was a great touch! Hot tub was great and Kath was very helpful.

  • Everything was amazing, pictures do not do it justice. Stunning location, Kath was welcoming and lovely. Bread, milk, prosecco on arrival! Hot tub was fab and we were made to feel completely at home.

  • Thank you to Kath and her family for a lovely 2 night stay at the stables. The room is amazing and with the heated floors its so cosy, comfy bed too! We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings especially from the hottub! Both pubs that Kath recommended were welcoming and had delicious food. Would highly recommend staying at the stables, from Chris, Olivia and Patricia the dog x

  • Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely book again. Kath is a lovely host.

  • Great place to stay and excellent value . Easy to find. Love the little touches like bread , jam and Prosecco . Loved the underfloor heating but be warned to keep it low and it’s gets very toasty . If anyone wants to watch films remember to bring a fire stick or something as that was the only thing missing . Hot tub was a perfect addition and lovely after a long day’s walk . We will definitely be back in the future Thanks Chris and Jon

    Chris2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant stay at the old stables, lovely and peaceful. The photos don’t do this place justice! Kath was a great host and really thoughtful with the additional little touches. Thanks again :)

Welcome to Horbutt Barn, a cosy and completely self-contained Grade II listed space ideal for couples, located at the end of a quiet lane in an idyllic rural spot. The brick-built barn is detached from the main house guaranteeing privacy in a mature garden setting. We are just 20 minutes from York and Harrogate by car or train, and 45 minutes to Leeds. The pretty market town of Wetherby is 5 minutes' drive by car, with the A1(M) motorway a similar distance.
The barn is over two levels, with the upstairs accessed by a set of return stairs. The bed upstairs is a double equipped with memory foam mattress and Tempur Cloud pillows for a great night's sleep, along with White Company bed linen and fluffy towels. We can supply a travel cot with mattress / bedding, high chair, baby bath and baby cutlery if you are travelling with little ones too. The shower room is equipped with a vanity unit and hot water is supplied internally: the hot water downstairs comes from the main house and so it may take a little time to warm up. Downstairs the property is equipped with free wi-fi, TV, DVD player, fridge, hob, combi-microwave oven and fully-equipped kitchen. There is a also a Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules for those (like me) that need a regular caffeine fix. The TV is fully tuned with a range of freeview channels in addition to some board games and quizzes. There is a farmhouse table that comfortably seats 4, and a sofabed that is suitable for little people. We can supply additional bedding on request if you would like to rent the property for 4 rather than 2-just get in touch when booking and let us know. There is underfloor heating in the barn to keep things cosy! Parking is on the right immediately inside the gate to the grounds of Horbutt House.
We're spoilt with our location at very end of a quiet lane on the River Nidd, close to an area of Special Scientific Interest which is just a stone's throw away, and perfect for an evening stroll. Depending on the time of year you visit, there is also the possibility of an abundance of apples and plums from the orchard which will make an appearance in the fruitbowl! The North York Moors are just 12 miles distant with the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty even closer. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is also within easy driving distance, as are the picturesque North Yorkshire towns of Easingwold and Boroughbridge. There are historic buildings, abbeys, castles and stately homes in abundance as well as the great Yorkshire outdoors to explore. Cyclists will find some testing climbs and sweeping descents on the Moors and hills nearby. The Black Swan at Oldstead is only 40 minutes through the lanes by car, and has recently been voted the best restaurant in the world by TripAdvisor (URL HIDDEN)
  • Great place to stay in a lovely location with everything you need! The barn is self contained and cosy, with underfloor heating upstairs and a very comfy bed! Lovely local area, Jo and Alex gave good recommendations for walks and they were very hospitable with anything we needed. I would definitely recommend this as a relaxing place to stay and we would love to return!

  • Had a lovely weekend in Jo and Alex’s barn! Super clean and cosy :)

    Abby2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, not far from York but with open countryside on the doorstep. I managed without a car, the station is close and there are good walks (and pubs!) nearby. Alex and Jo were attentive and welcoming hosts and the place is stylish, clean and comfortable.

Very small tiny little 1 Bedroom cottage in the heart of Yorkshire moors, with many original features . Comfortably sleeps two. Perfect for a little getaway with no phone internet or television. Pub over the road, lots of walks and activities in the Moors National Park. Seventeen miles to Whitby and the coast. Please note the cottage is very small the living room is 2.75mX 3.4m with a kitchen 2mX1.14m. Bedroom is 2.8mX 2.65m. Please note ceiling height to beams in bedroom is 1.88m.
The cottage is 260 years old and still has many of the original features including; stone floors, beamed ceilings, wooden spiral staircase and bare sandstone walls. This is not a holiday cottage it is my home when I am in the UK is very quirky so it lacks some of the standard holiday cottage features, their is no microwave, shower, internet or television. The kitchen is tiny but well equipped to cook basic meals. The cottage is tiny, possibly the smallest on Airbnb. The stairs are very narrow and steep, because of this the cottage is not really suitable for people with limited mobility, the elderly or couples with a baby or children. It is a perfect base for couples with a sense of adventure and a young outlook wanting to explore the moors and escape technology. Please note because of the small size we cannot accommodate children or pets.
Castleton is a beautiful village in the Esk Valley, it is in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 20 minutes in the car or 40 on the train will get you to Whitby and all of the delights it has to offer. Fish and chips, the seaside, shopping etc. Drive a bit further and you can come to Scarborough or York.
  • This cottage is tiny, but it had everything one would need to enjoy a short stay in the North York Moors. The heating unit on the first floor made the space super cozy, especially when you're surrounded by shelves and shelves of books! And the small kitchen has the basics you would need to cook anything you may buy from the Co-op that's only a few doors down from the cottage. Parking in town is pretty easy as long as you have a small enough car. Even with our larger Nissan vehicle, we were able to find a place late at night. The bed is extremely comfortable, especially with the heating pad turned on. The bath water also warmed quickly, and the windows on both floors provided extremely pleasing light during the morning and afternoon. Everything about this place is a relaxing and quiet getaway. And our walk down the block to the tea room in the morning was very cool too! So many kind people in this town and across all the towns in the Moors. You can't pass up the opportunity to stay in this historic house (around 200 years old!). And the booklet that James provides on the history of the cottage and the town is very good too! It really helped me appreciate our short stay even more.

    Gabbi2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • James' father was welcoming, flexible and accommodating of our requests. The cottage was cosy, clean and completely perfect - just what we needed and wanted! We only wish we could have stayed longer. We were so impressed and will definitely return again. We will be recommending the cottage to everyone!

    Sophie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • James's place was beautiful and we throughly enjoyed our stay there. There was plenty of information about the area and the cottage itself, we found it very cozy and a pleasure to stay in. We will most certainly be back! Thanks Jemma and Mike

    Jemma2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying in James's lovely cottage - a perfect place in a friendly village with both wild and picturesque surroundings to explore.

    Elspeth2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • James’ “tiny cottage” is absolutely perfect for a base to explore Castleton and the Moors. But for anybody who loves social history it’s even more of a gem! Despite its size it has everything you need (except WiFi and phone signal- but not a problem for us) and a great pub on the doorstep. Clean, cute and cosy, plus James’ dad was incredibly helpful and informative when we arrived. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much ⭐️

    Rachel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant little cottage from bygone era. You can really get the sense of life throughout the past two and a half centuries and little it changed up until quite recently. Great little taster for any 'Tiny house' enthusiasts.

  • My husband and I stayed in the Elliot Suite for a very rare night away from the kids. The property was simply breathtaking will beautiful decor and little touches throughout. It was really lovely to have all the breakfast items in the fridge, including milk & juice for the morning. The hot tub was fantastic, it’s in its own gazebo type housing and a nice & private space to relax with Alexa in the hot tub house being a great treat to listen to music whilst we were relaxing. The hosts were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I will definitely be back here as it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed. Thank you Lucy & Stuart!

    Debbie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Elliott suite was exactly what we wanted: fantastically chilled and comfortable - and there was a hot tub! We literally stayed for one very spontaneous night after a trip abroad got cut short, so the fact that Lucy met us with wine, and had stocked the fridge with breakfast was much appreciated and especially thoughtful. Thank you providing such a relaxing end to a hectic few days :)

The space is a reclaimed game larder dating from the late 1800's which has been lovingly restored and repurposed into a cosy and comfortable chalet. There are two beds, one upstairs in the loft and the other a sofa bed which folds out downstairs. There is a kitchen block complete with cups, plates, glasses etc. as well as a wood burning stove, mini fridge and television. The toilets and showers are a short walk away and are shared with the adjoining campsite.
The Game Larder was bought for the local shooting estate around the turn of the 20th century by Sir Francis Ley. Made of cedar wood and manufactured by the firm Boulton and Paul, the building spent most of the last century forgotten and unused in the woods until it was relocated a mile up the road and turned into something altogether different! We set the Game Larder facing down the Esk Valley and directly across from Danby beacon. The views are fantastic and the sunsets can be truly spectacular. The decking outside provides the perfect viewing platform to enjoy the scenery. We provide a small fridge, electric cooking hob, kettle, utensils, and a toaster, there is also a large fridge and freezer in the shower building. The bed is upstairs in the loft area but there is also the option for a sofa bed downstairs instead. The extra charge is for bedding and towels but you are more than welcome to bring your own sleeping bag, pillows and duvet instead. There is a TV/DVD player, as well as books, games and dvds. Lawnsgate Farm is a traditional sheep and cattle hill farm and there is also a small campsite opposite. We have Scottish blackface sheep and Galloway and shorthorn cows. We also have three bulls which are kept up in the shed during winter. The toilets and showers are in a converted building 20 metres away and are shared with the campsite. There are also washing up facilities, washer/dryer, and a freezer.
We are very lucky to live in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and be only a 20 minute walk away from the pretty village of Lealholm. The village boasts many amenities including a good pub, great shop, post office, garden centre and tea rooms. Towards Danby is the National Parks Moors Centre which is a must for anyone wanting to get acquainted with the area. There is also a bike hire place and cafe in the valley of Fryup which the Game Larder looks over. The area is amazing for walking and I am happy to help you out with any questions or suggestions for nearby walks. Further afield is Whitby which is about a 20 minute drive away. There are many traditional moorland villages to explore all within a 30 minute drive including Rosedale, Goathland, Farndale, and Grosmont. The beautiful fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay are also well worth a visit.
  • Really nice space in the middle of the moors!

  • If you’re looking for the perfect quirky escape to the countryside then this is exactly the place you need to be! Absolutely everything you need all in one very clever little space. Loads of lovely personal touches, board games, fresh eggs etc. Waking up to those views is something you could never get bored of! Thanks again Aidan, we will certainly be staying here again!!

    Alex2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The place was cosy and had everything you needed, plus a lovely view and farm animals to greet you to top it off. It was surprisingly warm too on a cold night with the log burner or radiator, so I wouldn't worry about the cold. Special thanks to Aidan for being a brilliant host Recommend!

    Julian2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Game Larder was exactly what we were looking for, a wonderful little escape in the heart of the Moors. I’d strongly recommend.

    Rob2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, easy to travel too. Aidan is a fantastic host, really helpful with quick response. The area is really pretty. We went during lambing season. It was a cuteness overload. The cabin itself is real cozy, comfortable and warm with real nice touches throughout. Aidan has a couple amazing cats, really friendly and the back cat with white socks loved to spend time with us, warming up in front the log fire. There’s a small community pub with an open fire and good food. We really really enjoyed our time here and it was tough to leave in the end. If you want a weekend away to get way from it all, this is the place to go! I couldn’t recommend it more.

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Game Larder is a gorgeous, tiny home made very cosy by its log fire. We had a gorgeous 1 night stay here to unwind from work. It is a perfect break for couples and we couldn’t recommend it more! Thank you Aidan for a lovely stay, and for being a super relaxed host. We will be back!

  • This cottage is beautiful, in a great central location. Finding parking nearby was not an issue, as the roads are narrow and steep. We spent 3 nights here, it was very cold. But the cottage is so cosy with the log burner on. We would definitely return to the nook.

  • We had a lovely 3 nights in the cottage. It is a good size for a couple, and nice and comfortable. The wood burner gets it warm nice and quickly too. It is on a very narrow street as in the description, but parking was never a problem. Settle was a perfect base for exploring the Dales too.

Easy check in, the lodge was immaculate, had all the necessities, peaceful location, easy to find & it was a bonus we could bring our Labrador too! We would highly recommend the lodge if your looking for a break away, we definitely want to return! :)

    Rebekah2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy lodge. Comfy beds. Clean. Hot tub always hot....nothing to complain about.

    Karen2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Even though it was blowing a gale outside we still had a cosy stay at grouse lodge. It was perfect for the two of us and our baby. Thank you!

    Adam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lodge, warm and cosy, completely private. Steph was so responsive to small queries we had too. Beautiful views and we’d love to come back. Thank you.

    Hannah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • 5 * all round! What a beautiful lodge it’s exactly like you see in the pictures; so cosy and inviting. The log burning fire and the hot tub are extra special touches. We’ll definitely stay again. We’d highly recommend Grouse Lodge and have already given the details to a friend.

    Kirsty2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. Very clean and hot tub was amazing

    Bethany2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little lodge, fresh modern space, little touches from the host that were thoughtful. Waking up in a morning to the horses outside the door was fab. Hot tub was lovely, great to chill out with a prosecco! Would definately return.

    Emily2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I was looking for that special somewhere to chill out, relax and wind down. Grouse Lodge ticked every box and completely exceeded our expectations. What a beautiful place, sparkling clean, welcoming, beautiful decor and of course the hot tub. We absolutely loved it, we have stayed in lots of cottages, log cabins etc, but this lodge is by far the best. We are in the process of booking for the summer...and we only checked out this morning! Loved it.

Comfortable converted watermill sleeping one or two couples, overlooking a spectacular waterfall, in the tranquil Eden Valley, between Lake District and Dales. Perfect for a romantic getaway, or watching abundant birds and wildlife. Ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries or engagements! You won't find accommodation closer to rushing water than this! No under 12s. Check in Fridays and Mondays only.
This centuries-old converted watermill enjoys a unique location right beside a spectacular waterfall. Watch the falls from your living room or balcony, and see amazing birds and wild creatures without having to leave the comfort of your cottage. The Mill is fully equipped with everything you'd want for a relaxing break in a magical rural haven.
Rutter Falls is a wonderful local attraction, and this cottage affords you a unique opportunity to enjoy them close-up. Enjoy a cocktail as you watch the floodlit waterfall flow by your private balcony. The surrounding area is rural and picturesque, with beautiful walks along the river or through the adjoining farmland.
  • The Mill at Rutter Falls is a characteristic building in beautiful surroundings. Loved the interior decoration and homely touches. So special to be able to sit out on the balcony with a glass of bubbles and watch and listen to the falls cascading over the rocks. Great wildlife and visits from Squirrel Nutkin!! Lovely walks direct from the Mill. Would definitely return to this idyllic place! Thank you!

    Lisa2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Completely amazing

    Vicky2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxed and beautiful. A great spot to walk from or drive to local walks and explore a beautiful part of the country. Thank you to our hosts who were on hand when we needed them and left us to our devices for the rest of the time. Blue tits and red squirrels come right to the door to feed - just lovely.

    Lars2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A true gem hidden away in the Lake District for the perfect getaway! We stayed in the Mill and the building itself was incredible, a fantastic open space with authentic wooden beams and spiral staircase! A very cosy interior with everything you need including a log burner for the perfect evenings. Coupled with the incredible location of being right next to Rutter Falls is a stay you will never forget. We came when the river was high so the waterfall was an incredible sight, we spent a lot of our time looking out from the balcony which is right on top of it. Such a peaceful location with the sound of the waterfall at night was almost therapeutic! Great walks literally on the doorstep and only an 8 min drive from great pubs and restaurants and a chance to drive through the river ;). Jane was a fantastic host keeping us well updated with arrival instructions and we were greated with a bottle of Prosecco and home baked bread! A fantastic stay all round.

    Keisha2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A completely unique place to visit. Highly recommended.

    Elizabeth2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A quirky, unique, bespoke cottage with an amazing setting next to a beautiful waterfall, with the stream just a metre from property, and a birdseye waterfall view from the high level deck outside lounge. Red squirrels eating nuts on railings right outside window. Secure garden areas for dogs. Lovely welcome tray, and Jane the host had baked a homemade loaf for us which was still warm on arrival. Very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing location. A feeling of real seclusion with access only via the ford, or very long, narrow farm tracks.

    Karen2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely wonderful trip - the Mill is a gorgeous space and Jane and her husband were very welcoming and helpful. We went for walks and visited local restaurants, but also enjoyed cosy evenings staying in and playing board games in front of the log burning stove. We plan to return in the warmer months and make even more use of the beautiful surroundings. Can’t recommend highly enough!

    Emily2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding cottage, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved seeing the red squirrels helping themselves to the peanuts. The location just next to the waterfall is truly special. It's a pity it was very cold so we couldn't spend longer out on the decking. The bonus of having the log burner was very useful and made the cottage even more cosy. Jane and Jim live next door but leave you to enjoy your holiday but available if you need them. We appreciated the little extra touches of prosecco, home made bread and excellent jam. We really enjoyed our stay.

Come and stay in our beautifully finished, tin shepherds hut at the bottom of our garden. We are located in the rolling countryside with extensive views over the vale of York. After a day of exploring this AONB, there’s nothing like cooking tea over the fire pit followed by a dip under the stars in our rustic hot tub. Fall into a fresh clean bed and wake up to the sound of the dawn chorus. Our bathroom barn provides all your needs for a morning freshen up! See you soon.
The name "The Hut In The Wild" is just our name for the hut. The hut is located on our property at the bottom of our garden not in the wild. It is a beautiful shepherds hut in a gorgeous area with a fantastic view over the fields and hills. Experience a little wild living, cook on a fire pit and soak in a rustic wood fired hot tub.
We are set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and literally located at the end of a lane in a farming hamlet and look out onto fields where the many foothpaths start. Close by is the fantastic Yearsley woods which is great for walking, running, horse riding and biking. Further afield towards the coast you will find Dalby Forest which provides bikers with a choice of green, red and blue tracks! If you want to cycle or venture off in the car there are many places to visit...Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Terrace. Helmsley, Malton, Pickering, Easingwold and Thirsk are our local market towns full of places to eat and drink and a chance to pick up some nibbles. We don’t have a pub in our hamlet but there are plenty on offer a short drive away. The Durham Ox in Crayke and The Fairfax Arms in Gilling are lovely gastro pubs. Or you can opt for a more informal pub in Sheriff Hutton, The Highwayman or The White Bear in Stillington where you can get quite a hearty meal! Hope this helps in planning your stay.
  • What a wonderful place Susi has. It feels like a real escape from the outside world. Lovely views and such a peaceful location. Lovely touches like fresh bread, eggs, jam, tea, coffee... perfect! Great hot tub too and brilliantly rustic all of it! Very thoughtfully done. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all!

    Ben2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a hidden gem. The Hut in the Wild is perfect. Susi has thought of everything, and the wood fired hot tub was absolutely amazing.

    Philip2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot put into words how amazing this place is you just have to go! Me and my partner absolutely loved every minute of being at the hut in the wild and we will be returning!! Thank you

    Becky2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a quaint little spot that looked over a lovely stretch of countryside. The hut is perfectly equipped for everything you need. And the bed is soooo comfy! The hot tub was not quite up and going when we arrived which was a shame not to get into it in the day light - but was scorching and ready to go as Susi described three hours later. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay (even with the furious wind!) and would definately recommend!

    Amy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely Airbnb! Attention to detail and added touches made it feel so homely. Bread, butter, jam, eggs, milk & juice were provided for breakfast! We appreciated the hot water bottles and slippers. Susi kept the hot tub going for us and it was boiling, despite the weather. Hopefully will return in the warmer months!!

    Daisy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Susi was quick to respond to any queries I had and was able to put up ‘Happy Birthday’ bunting for my partner. Everything in the hut is well thought out and the eggs, bread, milk, butter and jam are perfect for breakfast. We were able to enjoy the hot tub even in the drizzle as it was piping hot. It was a perfect private retreat and I’m sure I’ll be returning some time in the future.

    Hannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A huge thank you for our stay, the birthday bunting and the little extras. We had a lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed the view from the hot tub. We will hope to return in the warmer months 🌞

    Verity2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing stay away for a night, a perfect get away for some space from busy life. How rural it was made it extra special, very quiet and the hut itself was stunning. The hot tub was amazing, will be back in warmer months to experience it again but it warmed up well especially in the bad weather! Couldnt recommend the place enough, and susie was a fabulous host. Thanks again!

  • We really loved the space - the styling (the art!), the amenities, comfort, and the flexibility in arriving. Although we only had a brief interaction with Julia, she was incredibly welcoming and had basically thought of everything, including herbal teas. We’d really recommend a stay in Julia’s lovely home.

    Nathalie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable experience! Julia is very enthusiastic. The room is on the third floor, with a separate bathroom and a lock on the door. The room is clean, and the bedding smells good, so I have a good sleep.

    Saffron2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful barn conversion for a quiet getaway with lovely walks and very close to the coast. Bob was kind enough to prepare the area early for an earlier check in for us due to previous guests leaving early. Lots of lovely touches added such as maps for a walk along the coast and to Hayburne Wyke pub, little chocolates and board games (Scrabble and jigsaws).

    Lucia2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • The space was lovely, well thought-out and bigger than expected. The location was absolutely perfect and just the right combination of remote but also close to pubs and shops. I recommend the Blacksmiths Arms in Cloughton itself and alongside the walk to Hyburn Wyke, there is a great walk a half hour drive away at Saltergate too.

  • We had a wonderful time in Peters cottage. A quiet and peaceful location but so easy to get to from the M6 and 5 minutes from Sedburgh. The whole place was clean and looked lovely and the rooms were spacious. The hot tub was clean and good for the evenings, and when it was too cold we had the log burner going to. The scenery nearby is beautiful. Would definitely stay again, thanks Peter!

The Bothy is close to Shipley Glen with easy access to Saltaire, the world heritage village and its railway station (15 min walk down the hill through the woods) and Leeds Bradford Airport (15 min drive). It's a self contained cosy cottage with off street parking. Located next to our house, it's completely private and tucked away, so great if you just want some peace and quiet. It's great for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers. LGTBQ friendly :-)
Please be assured that our cleaning regime is in strict accordance of Airbnb's Covid-19 recommendations. The Bothy really is a great, private space and has everything you need for a relaxed stay without the awkwardness of staying in someone's home or the bland surroundings of a generic hotel chain. Situated adjacent to our Edwardian house, the Bothy was converted 4 years ago from the former washhouse and staff quarters into a cosy, light filled contemporary space. It features a welcoming lounge with a sofa and an easy chair, Freeview TV, Apple TV box (for those with Netflix/Now TV/Prime Video accounts), DAB radio and log burner. There's also a small table for dining, a ground floor bathroom with walk in shower, a compact kitchen, and a first floor bed deck accessed via a staircase that features a double bed, USB charging pods, hanging rail and chest of drawers. We provide free Yorkshire Tea, instant and fresh coffee and a jar of sweet treats. We'll also pop a small Kilner bottle of skimmed milk in the fridge, so you can have a brew as soon as you arrive and settle in. The kitchen is compact and features a two ring halogen hob. There is no conventional oven, however a small counter top oven and microwave are provided. There's also a toaster and kettle. Towels are provided, as well as quality toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and loo roll. Anti-bacterial wipes are also supplied, as well as hand sanitiser. Free VirginMedia Wifi. Please note that the Wifi is operated as an extension to the main house hub and can, on occasions stall. If you have a Netflix, Prime Video or Now TV account, you are able to access these services via the Apple TV box. The Bothy features a log burning stove. We're happy to supply a starter fuel pack for £8 which will include logs for one night, kindling and firelighters. Further logs can be purchased from local stores or you can simply bring your own. Please let us know if you require a fuel pack before arrival. We provide a range of lifestyle magazines, bought for guests to read. Please don't use them to light the fire or take away with you. There is no washing machine. Should you require anything to be washed we're happy for you to use the machine and the tumble dryer in the main house for a small charge. For visits of more than a week, a mid stay towel and linen change is available on request at no extra charge. We do have a travel cot should guests be travelling with a baby. However please note that it can only be set up on the ground floor. The accommodation isn't really suitable for small children. No long terms lets... sorry! Very LGTBQ friendly :-) Please consider travel insurance, all bookings are subject to Airbnb's 'strict' cancellation policy, without exceptions.
The neighbourhood is very residential and quiet. It's a popular area for middle class families. The house is located about 1.5 miles from Baildon village centre where you'll find pubs, bars, restaurants, Co-Op supermarket, cashpoints, post office etc. Ideally you will need a car, but we are accessible via public transport and then on foot or by taxi. Some former guests have marked us down on our location, which amuses me given that there's a map that shows where we are, and I explicitly say we're in a very quiet, residential location. We're set on the hill above Saltaire, the world heritage village which is within a 15 minute walk down through the woods. The village features the world renowned Salt's Mill as well as shops, restaurants, cafes and bars; Saltaire railway station has links to Leeds, Bradford and Skipton. Shipley Glen is a few minutes walk from the house with access to the moors and the Old Glen House pub, which serves food. It is a great base from which to explore Yorkshire's cities such as shoppers paradise Leeds and curry capital Bradford. Its magnificent towns such as Hebden Bridge, Skipton, Harrogate and Ilkley are all within a 30-40 minute drive. Wharfedale, the southern most part of the Yorkshire Dales is within easy reach by car, and features the beautiful Bolton Abbey and picturesque villages of Grassington, Kilnsey and Kettlewell.
  • Beautiful little cottage in a perfect location for a get away, with beautiful walks and scenery on the doorstep. Excellent hospitality from Adam & Fergus. The cottage has everything you need with an amazingly comfortable bed. I slept like a baby.

Henrietta street is in the cobbled streets of old whitby, really central for the shops, pubs and cafe's - but there is no public parking. Our road is very quiet, and on arrival you should have no problem parking up to unload. We usually unload bags - and I drive to park and walk 5 - 10 mins back to the cottage. Depending on where you want to park - we always find free parking a short walk away, but you can pay to park nearer, or use the park and ride car parks in the summer. Whitby Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town, and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

The heated tree cabin is set within a small secluded wood up a steep path. Cedar lined, insulated and oak clad it cantilevers out over a remote mill pond. Wake up in a tranquil heaven only shared with shy wildlife, including deer, hare, the odd badger and a variety of birds. In the cabin are a king-size sofa bed, table and chairs, kitchen area with kettle, microwave oven and chiller. Your own smaller tree cabin, a few trees away, houses a flushing toilet and hand basin with spring water.
Whilst in bed gently falling asleep watch the moon rise over the mill pond through the tree branches and then watch the sun rise the following morning! A romantic getaway for the adventurous couple. Tucked away in a small woodland at the edge of a mill pond you will feel totally secluded as the cabin is difficult to spot from the surrounding areas but the reality is that you are close to a no through road, a village store and the delights of Hebden Bridge. Supplied with electricity and hot and cold spring water you are still part of the 21st Century but at the same time remote from it all. (In fact, so remote, that there is barely any mobile signal or wifi). There is a quality king size sofa bed, chairs for relaxing and dining and a kitchen area with basic cooking equipment and electric heating. Most 'camping style' cooking and eating essentials are provided including a microwave oven and a chiller cabinet. There is also a small portable induction hob and frying pan. A full breakfast is not included, but inside the cabin you will find cereals, fruit juice, milk, fruit yoghurt and of course tea, coffee and sugar. A few trees away there is your own, smaller tree house with a flushing toilet and hand basin fed with pure spring water. Hot running water, face flannels and towels are provided. There is an external hot and cold alfresco shower or for the hardy (or foolhardy!) take a dip in the mountain stream. If the weather is inclement we can usually arrange a time for you to use the shower in the main house.
We are surrounded by public footpaths, bridleways for biking and plenty of fresh air. There is a farm shop under a mile away that stocks everything and is open 12 hours a day. The nearest bus stop with a regular half hourly service to Hebden Bridge is a mile away. We are on a no-through, single track, tarmac road.
  • It's hard to find the words to explain how amazing this place is. Tranquil, beautiful and a little bit of heaven tucked into a gorgeous bit of Yorkshire. It was lovely and cosy and very comfortable. Tony was an amazing host, I didn't get chance to meet Barbara but I will be back so hopefully will get the pleasure next time. The outdoor shower was just amazing. The weather was fairly mild but it was an exhilarating experience none the less. I can't wait to visit again.

    Lynsey2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures and descriptions have literally made me feel excited ever since booking this trip and whilst they were incredibly accurate, nothing prepared me for the overwhelming beauty of the space, as we arrived. Tony was incredibly welcoming and supportive and explained everything to us with so much patience, although we had arrived quite late. The view from the bed in the mornings was probably my highlight, and I don't believe I could put into words how very calming, nourishing and relaxing the little cabin was. On the last day, we braved the elements and tried the alfresco shower and it was such a surreal experience. Despite the cold temperature outside, the water was hot enough to not even notice the cold, and the views were simply breathtaking. Both the main cabin and the smaller "bathroom" were decorated with so much love for details and provided us with everything we could have possibly dreamt of. We had no reception whatsoever, which was great to just be in the moment and take everything in. We went to Hebden Bridge twice for food and coffees and had lovely vegan food and stacked up on some snacks and water. The fairy lights outside the door, as well as the smaller lamps inside the cabin always invited us to stay in, read a lot of books or play chess. Overall this was one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever been on and we are more than excited to hopefully come back next year again.

    Eva2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning place even in the rain. Beautiful surroundings truly at one with nature. On arrival Tony & Barbara shared information about the local area and walls. Then to the cabin which was very spacious and tranquil. 100% recommend this place. Would like to book again when I can find a date it’s free, that’s just how amazing this place is. Thank you so much!

    Amy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the cabin and really enjoyed our time there! Feels very secluded despite being close enough to the house in case we needed anything; the perfect balance! Tony and Barbara provided some very handy tips for walks around the area, as well as delicious flapjacks and great selection of hot drinks and breakfast options. Really accommodating of dairy free too, which was much appreciated! Good location, with Hebden Bridge only a short drive or bus journey away. Such wonderful accommodation. Will definitely be looking to stay again next year!

    Harriet2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Barbara and Tony's, really friendly hosts and beautiful location with lots to do nearby. The cabin itself was really unique and Barbara and Tony provided us with useful ideas for walks and were really quick with communication

    Simran2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the tree cabin for a little break away. It was absolutely beautiful, great location & the hosts were lovely adding thoughtful touches to the stay including Tony’s homemade delicious flapjacks 😃

    Lauren2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • You have to experience the cabin to understand it's charms. It was everything the details told us but Tony and Barbara's extra bits were great. Homemade flapjack on our arrival was delicious along with all the tea, coffee etc which was so helpful but on arriving the peace was something else. Absolutely no phone signal or WiFi in the unit helped us relax but you cannot stay in the cabin and not relax. We never touched the car until we left walking everywhere and wallowing in the views but the final joy was on the morning we left jumping into the outdoor shower was an experience that will stay with me for a very long time. Thank you for sharing you little bit of paradise.

    Rosemary2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such lovely hosts, gave us a proper tour of the area when driving back from the station and invited us in to show us some local routes. A very relaxing stay and well worth the money.

COVID-19 CAUTION 1. The annexe is entirely isolated. 2. We block a 24h period inbetween guests for deep-cleaning. Elstree is a self-contained annexe to our house with allocated parking off-road. We welcome pets and kids (although we don’t provide specialist things for infants and teenagers might find it a squash!). It is 10 min leisurely walk to the town centre and beautiful Scarborough South Bay beach, all theatres and seaside essentials. A home from home cosy space for peace, quiet and rest
The Escape is a 1-bed plus en suite shower with a separate living area — sofa, kitchenette, desk and even your own parking space. You can cosy up and hideaway or get to the beach for fresh air and stunning scenery.
The 'Escape' is on a street of big Victorian villas just walking distance from Scarborough town centre. Most of the villas are still family homes -- if you like architecture you're in for a treat! Within a mile circumference you can get to the SJ Theatre, cinema, town centre shops, South Bay beach and promenade and the Spa Theatre. You can also walk to Peasholm Park and the Open Air Theatre but it is a little further. There is a parade of shops for the basics just around the corner (but we will always make sure you have milk and teabags to arrive to!). There are also lots of nearby cafes and restaurants within a short walk so getting around is very easy.
  • Emma’s place is wonderful! 10/15 minute walk to the beach, really cosy, clean little place and has everything you need. Lovely little touches and added extras which were a great surprise. Would highly recommend!

  • We’ve just enjoyed a three night stay at Emma’s place, it was spotlessly clean and within walking distance of the beach and town centre. Thank you for the little treats you left for us they were much appreciated. Hopefully we’ll be back one day.

    Janet2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Emma made sure we had a fantastic break in Scarborough. We were allowed to check in later due to delay with travel and were welcomed with the most glorious welcome basket containing lots of treats and even for my dog. The space is so clean and peaceful and it really is an ‘escape’. Emma is there on hand if you need anything otherwise she leaves you to enjoy your time away and there’s lots to enjoy both inside the Escape and out and about in Scarborough. Lots of options to cook in with microwave and stove. For watching tv there’s full Sky which is a real bonus and the place leaves a lasting, happy impression for both humans and pets alike. Look forward to returning

Try one of our comfy camping pods in N Yorkshire. The Small Pod is ideal for 2 people & in the grown ups only section of the site. Oh, and dog friendly too! Bring everything you would camping - apart from the tent! IMPORTANT NOTE: there are no beds in ANY of our pods. However, we hire out airbeds for £3 each.
Hillcrest Park is our 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions. Camping Pods are solidly built, insulated wooden huts with good headroom and a carpeted interior floor area, with lights, a heater and an electric socket to power mobile phones, laptops and travel devices for that little bit of extra comfort. There is timber decking providing somewhere to sun-bathe, prepare food or hang your wet gear. The window and lockable French doors are double glazed and the Cumbrian sheep's wool insulation and fitted heater means that the Pod really is a year-round option. We have a small shop onsite selling the basics and you will have full use of our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos, hairdryer, hot water for dishwashing, fridge, kettle, microwave and hob plus a coin operated laundry. There are picnic tables/benches provided for each pod as well as hardstanding for barbeques. If you don't want to cook outside for yourself, there is a good pub a mile and a half up the road in Caldwell (the Brownlow Arms) which serves food in the evenings. But if you fancy a good walking destination, you can wander down to Winston Gate (15mins walk away) and take the Teesdale Way along the river Tees. All in all, the Pod really is 21st Century Camping. So why not revisit those fun childhood holidays, but this time with grown-up comforts.
  • Had such a good night here. Kate couldn’t do enough for us as we had to go round to the office late evening as our air bed had a puncture, she came straight round and rented us some out. Because of the storm the weather was awful so they put us in a bigger pod than we had paid for as it was out of the wind. Amazing place to take your dog, very dog friendly. Will definitely return, probably in the summer though!

    Louise2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for first holiday with our dog. Although going in February the pod was warm and cosy. The facilities were good and although off season the little shop still had everything we’d needed. The location is obviously quite remote but everything is a short drive away. The Brownlow Arms pub nearby was a highlight of the trip and was close by for dinner which was lovely. We will probably stay again in the summer! Well recommended.

    Dale2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was so much better than I thought, Kate helped every step of the way! Turned up a little late and kate showed me where I was without any complaints! Thanks!!

The nearby pub was lovely, as was Clitheroe. A particular favourite was The Emporium - stunning food (and lots of it!!) Barry was a wonderful host, on hand if we needed anything at all. Honestly can't fault our experience. Thank you!

    Harry2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous lodge, clean, bright and cosy. Great amenities, we had everything we needed to ‘survive’ storm Ciara. The hot tub was an added bonus, we really enjoyed relaxing in the tub with a prossecco while taking in the lovely views. The location is peaceful and provides a great base for walking, eating out and exploring the local area. We’ve already recommended the lodge to family and friends.

Gaze up at the stars from the private hot tub. Located in the picturesque hamlet of Soyland, on the hills above Ripponden, Shaw Edge Barn is perfect for an escape to the countryside for walking, cycling, relaxation and site seeing. The barn has far reaching, uninterrupted views over the valley recently made famous by the successful tv series Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax Perfect location for Manchester and Leeds, both easily reached by taxi or train. * additional charge for hot tub
We would love to welcome all guests to our newly converted stone, detached three-bedroom first floor barn with a spacious open plan living area. We are situated in the heart of Soyland, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with stunning scenery and within easy access of both the Pennine and the Calderdale Way. The location makes the barn a perfect choice for those visiting the NEM in Manchester or the First Direct Arena as both are easily reached by taxi or train. Shaw Edge Barn is a new conversion with spacious lounge, fully equipped kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, one bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom with bath and shower and utility room, all furnished to a high standard. It has its own thermostatically controlled central heating to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Cotton bed linen and fresh towels are provided and there is also a travel cot and high chair. The utility space includes a washer dryer, freezer and a monks bench for shoe removal and storage. Guests can wake up to see sheep and lambs in the fields, and have a fresh daily supply of free range eggs from our own chickens. Patio doors from the main living space open up onto the barbecue and outdoor seated area with barbecue and fire pit. If you are short on time, and you'd like to do an online grocery shop, we will be more than happy to receive and unpack it for you. Please do let us know if this would be of interest. There is a small additional charge of £25 per day for the hot tub, except for those guests staying for a full week where this charge is £75 for the full week. If it's a special occasion, our Bubbles and Bouquet deal, can be purchased at extra charge, please ask for details or see the hot tub packages. We are happy to decorate the barn for surprise birthdays, anniversaries etc and can purchase occasion cakes for you in advance of your stay. Please ask for details.
Soyland is a small hamlet on the hills above the pretty village of Ripponden. It has numerous recommended restaurants, take aways, and public houses. Whilst a rural area, it is conveniently situated between Leeds and Manchester and just ten to fifteen minutes from the M62 motorway. There are two local public houses within walking distance which offer a very high class of food and entertainment on certain evenings. We are close to the town of Hebden Bridge, which is only 8 miles away by car or easily walked or cycled along the canal tow path. Here, you can take a canal barge trip or shop in the lovely quaint stores, or browse the antique shops. Other local places of interest include: Hollingsworth Lake - where you can take a boat ride or partake in water sports, or take the 2.2 mile round the lake walk - (8.8 miles) Heptonstall- made famous by the historic coiners -(9.5miles) Halifax - with its famous Piece Hall, Shibden Park and Gibbett - (6.2 miles) Haworth- made famous by the Bronte Sisters (13.5 miles) Holmfirth-Last of the Summer Wine Country - (13.5 miles) York - the famous walled city - (50 miles) Lots of tourist information can be found in the information binder found on the reception desk. Halifax is the nearest town which houses a cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, sports centre, shops, library, the Civic Theatre, The Halifax Playhouse and the recently refurbished Piece Hall. In early September the area hosts the Rush Bearing Festival and the Norland Scarecrow Hunt - information on these can be found in the information folder or the websites.
  • Absolutely stunning property - we didn’t want to leave! Spotlessly clean, amazing location with beautiful views and walks, Susan was extremely accommodating too, would highly recommend

    Jilly2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place is a perfect little getaway. We had everything we needed and more. It was lovely to wake up and be greeted by the sheep up the hill as you walk out the door. Also the cats (the most friendly cats I've met) and the chickens will come round to see you. So cute! We were provided with lots of fresh eggs from the chickens :). The place was very quiet, private and spacious. Although her house is opposite, the airbnb is on the top floor of the barn conversion and the rear garden with the hot tub is tucked away. So it is private and we didn't notice other people around. Susan was very quick at replying via message and was very helpful and friendly. We had all the amenities and everything we would want in the barn. The shower was great, quite powerful and the water went very hot. Everything was extremely clean and well looked after. We didn't leave the airbnb as all the coronavirus started kicking off whilst we were there, but next time I'd love to visit to pub as it looked really nice and within walking distance. The area also would have been lovely to explore. I'm looking forward to staying again.

  • Absolutely superb barn conversion. Modern living space with very thoughtful touches. We continued with our stay as we would be isolated and we are glad we did. It’s recharged our batteries before a long stay at home. Sue was a perfect host, messages answered almost immediately. DO NOT pass this Gem by, you will not be disappointed.

    Darren2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and cosy barn, super stylish and modern too. Susan was a great host, it had everything we needed including fresh eggs! Great location- walked to pubs and not far from some great hills.

    Isobel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful lodge in the heart of some beautiful scenery. Fantastic for chilling out and relaxing especially in the hot tub

    Gillian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute fantastic place to stay, couldn’t have asked for more. Beautiful views, fresh eggs and a baby lamb to watch out of the kitchen window 🥰🥰 The barn is new and modern, beds and linen beautiful, I wish we had stayed longer.

    Lucy2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is a home away from home, it has everything you need! Great value for money and in a great location for a little break away! Some lovely places around to go walking or for some food but the barn also has great facilities if you want to just stay in play games and cook. The views are incredible and can’t forget to mention how cute the animals are especially Sue’s dog! Highly recommend x

    Rachel2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is very stylish, sparkling clean and nicely decorated - modern yet homely. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the fresh eggs were a lovely touch. The barn's location is excellent; you have enough privacy but you're not completely isolated. The local village is a 5 minute drive away with plenty of shops should you need something. Communicating with Susan was straight-forward and easy. There were plenty of recommendations for local attractions/experiences which were very much appreciated. The barn really completed our escape from the city life, and we would definitely recommend staying here - it's great value for money too. Thanks again Susan!

A completely self contained and private space in which to unwind. Quality vintage bed linen, towels and gowns are provided, as are basic ingredients for home cooking, garlic, herbs etc. Organic produce from the vegetable garden are available when there is a glut.
This is a unique opportunity to stay in our vintage showman's van set in mature gardens. It is a self contained open plan space consisting of a large double bed, a dining and sitting area, and a fully equipped kitchen with gas oven. The loo with hand wash basin and towel are in a separate hut beside the caravan. There is an outside cast iron bath in a secluded area nearby, heated with a wood burner. A supply of firewood is provided. There is a wood burning stove in the caravan, and we will ensure a good supply of dry firewood for your use. However, those wishing to use the bath more than once will have to gather their own firewood. You can of course bring your own wood supply if you prefer. Linen sheets, towels and bathrobes are provided. Fresh breakfast food is supplied. Requests for special dietary needs can be met if forewarned. There is ample parking space next to the caravan. There is a radio and ( rather patchy) internet connection but no television. Visitors are welcome to bring their dog, but only I dog at a time as the space is limited.
The village lies midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Hambleton Hills and Moors, ("the Golden Triangle.") Leeds, Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk are all within easy reach. There are two pubs in the village, both serve meals during the daytime and evening. The New Inn in the next village, Tholthorpe, also serves evening meals, and has a newly installed wood fired pizza oven. There is a small shop/deli in the village which has a wide range of interesting fresh food. Borobridge and Easingwold are only 5 miles distant, where all you could need is available. This is a walker's paradise with many historic buildings, abbeys and castles to visit within a radius of 20 miles. (Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall, Benningborough Hall, to name but a few) Fishing in the River Swale is popular, and day tickets can be obtained in the village. There are several good golf courses in the vicinity. As the immediate area is relatively flat being in the river valley, it is great for cycling,
  • Lovely hosts, beautiful location, much hugger than expected. A proper home from home with the added novelty of an outside bath.... Which is an absolute must. Would recommend to friends and family

    Liz2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend this Airbnb. We had an amazing couple of nights. The caravan is very special and the outdoor bath was lovely even mid February! There were so many lovely touches! Thankyou so much for hosting us

    Carrie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a place!! The caravan was so cosy even through the storm. The bath was quite the experience, but one that has to be tried. The two dogs were our new best friends and Maggie was very welcoming! So nice to get away from it all, highly recommended

    Amy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay nice and cosy

    Daniel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and peaceful stay, thank you!

    Greg2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The showman caravan is a fantastically unique place to stay. The log burning in the caravan made it super cozy and the outdoor was an amazing experience. Cannot recommend enough!

    Holly2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a quiet break away from it all, somewhere with real character and gracious hosts, we cannot recommend Maggie's place highly enough. Maggie, Humph and the dogs are lovely, attentive to your needs, while also giving you your privacy. The caravan is cosy but spacious enough for two to relax without getting under each other's feet, and while there is an electric heater, the wood burner gives it so much more character and ensures you'll be super snug even in the October rain. We'd also recommend making use of the outdoor shower and bath, even if the weather seems inclement. There was something truly magical about sitting back in a steaming hot candle lit bath in beautiful surroundings with cool rain pattering down through the tree canopy above.

    Eddy2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible space. Perfect getaway for some peace and quiet, and to enjoy the quirky features that are on offer. Maggie was great and very accommodating. We loved the 'back to basics' charm of the place and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
