Periwinkle Cottage is a lovely, stone-built cottage, beautifully furnished and tucked away in the heart of the pretty little village of Embleton. With the beach just a short stroll away, stunning scenery in every direction and some wonderfully traditional eating and drinking places right on the doorstep - Periwinkle is the perfect little bolt-hole for getting out and about and discovering (or re-discovering) Northumberland.
Periwinkle Cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and provides the perfect base for those looking to explore the delights of the heritage coastline as well as those looking for total relaxation in this beautiful area. The cottage provides accommodation for four people and is an ideal retreat for couples, families and groups of friends. For larger groups Periwinkle can be booked with its sister cottages, Crocus and Snowdrop, which are part of the same converted stone coach house and also sleep four, therefore providing accommodation for up to 12 people. Downstairs the cottage has an attractive open-plan living space, with lounge, kitchen and dining area. The lounge includes a large sofa and two comfortable chairs, 32" flat-screen TV with DVD and Freeview, an i-Pod docking station, CD player/radio and a selection of books, games and DVDs for those cosy evenings in. The modern kitchen includes an electric hob, grill and oven, a fridge with a freezing compartment as well as a microcwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere and a small amount of tea and coffee to welcome you at your journey's end. You will also find it is well stocked with cooking equipment and utensils. The dining area seats four comfortably at a traditional wooden dining table. The cottage also benefits from high-speed fibre broadband, perfect for keeping the kids entertained, if you have a little work to catch up on while you're away or just sharing photos of our beautiful county with friends and family! There is also a spin dryer for guests to use. Upstairs the cottage has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The bathroom has a bath with electric shower over, WC and wash basin. Outside, the cottage opens up on to an L-shaped, south-facing patio area. There is a sturdy wooden bench as well as a picnic table and the area is fully enclosed to keep your little companions (two or four legged!) contained. There are two allocated parking spaces directly outside the cottage.
The village of Embleton is one of Northumberland's true gems. Why not try the wonderfully traditional village pub - The Greys Inn, or try out the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel, which shares the courtyard with Periwinkle Cottage. The award winning Embleton Bay is a ten minute stroll away, with its beautiful sandy beach that seems to stretch for miles. Just before you reach the dunes you'll see Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club, which boasts a traditional 18 hole links course with views that simply cannot be beaten. There is also a bar and restaurant in the club which are open to the public. The village has a small shop and post office and for the younger ones there is a delightful, well-equipped and modern play area in the village. Such is the beauty of the location of this lovely village, there is much that can be done without going anywhere near your car. A gentle stroll up the coast will bring you to the delightful village of Low Newton with its renowned pub, The Ship Inn (which has its own microbrewery!) and picturesque bay. To the south of Embleton it is just a short stroll to the magnificient ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and continuing past you will soon arrive in the village of Craster, with its harbour and world famous kippers!
  • Great location, very quiet and the house was cosy, very clean and comfortable; we all slept well. The beach only about a 5 min walk away. Fantastic base for exploring. Would recommend pub in car park, dog friendly and nice food. Also Cragside (National Trust) was beautiful (approx 30 min drive). Thanks John, holiday let had everything we needed.

  • Great for a few days by the sea, we're walkers with dogs so the location was perfect with enough local amenities for our needs

  • Lovely cute cottage. Open plan living -dining kitchen area. Easily accessible. Parking and easy access key safe. It was surprising spacious. Two good sized bedrooms with space for travel cot. Well stocked kitchen equipment! Location was incredible with ten minute walk to beach and coastal walks. We cycled nearly entirely off-road , to nearby Craster for crab sandwiches. Enjoyed drinks and food at local pubs The Greys. Would definitely stay again

  • The cottage is exactly as described and pictured. Directions were very clear, we had no trouble finding it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely walk along the beach... to Dunstanburgh Castle... to Low Newton... to Craster... just fabulous!

Edna's House offers a decent size double room ideal for a couple or single. You're welcome to bring and make your own breakfast. Tiny and remote, Chathill is neatly placed half way between Alnwick and the coast. It has a nearby train station with links to Newcastle for a day's shopping. It is also close to local wedding venues at Ellingham, Newton and Doxford. There is no TV in the house and limited wifi, so staying could be your ideal digital detox. I look forward to welcoming you.
Edna's House is a semi-detached cottage with a small garden. The house also has a little kitchen, sun porch and living room with open fire. You are welcome to make use of the house alongside me. I have an odd work schedule so I'll let you know when I'm going to be around.
Chathill is a lovely quiet village. The neighbours are friendly but not intrusive.
  • Virginia’s house is perfectly located right next to the station so easy to get to by train. Even though Virginia was at work when I arrived I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The room was warm and cosy and the bed was comfortable - I slept very well. Virginia also gave me some useful advice about places to eat, taxis and getting the early train. It was really a pleasure to meet Virginia, and I highly recommend her house as a place to stay.

  • Virginia was very welcoming and helpful, and her room was perfect for a short stay.

  • A comfy bed close to Ellingham Hall for a wedding shoot. Excellent communication ideal for my stop over. No TV so perfect for peace and relaxation.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Virginia's. She was a really great host and lovely to chat to.

  • Fabulous communication, great location right by the train station. Enjoyed my stay, thank you very much :)

  • This was a perfect place to lay our heads on a long drive from Fife to Norfolk. Virginia's communication was fantastic from start to finish. I felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. I'm only sorry I couldn't have stayed longer.

    Lauren2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy farmhouse style place in lovely location. Virginia was very friendly and provided everything we needed, along with useful local knowledge. The cottage is next to Chathill station, where some trains pass by, but the noise was not a problem for us. The room was comfortable.

  • This was our second stay in Johns cottages - in Snowdrop cottage this time. There is plenty space - more than comfortable for four adults and two dogs. Embleton is a nice wee village, with easy access to walks. The village pub is great too. We will definitely stay here again if in the area.

    Aileen2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage, small and cozy, very well equipped and Embleton is a great location. 2 pubs a stones throw away and beach a nice short walk away. We will be back.

    Kay2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Snowdrop cottage is ideal for 4 people, has everything you could need and near all amenities. Beach fantastic and great for walkers

    Sarah2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very compact but well equipped property, and spotlessly clean. The tiny village is very well placed for easy access to all the sights of beautiful rural Northumberland, with close proximity to many incredible surrounding villages and towns, not to mention the immaculate beaches, castles and amazing countryside, whether by car or for superb leisurely walks. Embleton itself is tiny but has 3 cracking pubs (the adjacent one was closed for the season however), the meals at the Greys and Blue Bell (incredible Italian menu) are highly recommended, as is the pizza at Embers delicatessen and the locally sourced menu at nearby Low Newton's Ship Inn (weekend only). The village Post Office sells pretty much all you need for a short stay, and also provides a cash withdrawal facility. There is even an old school petrol station. The property has all mod cons, a variety of games and books, an enclosed front patio and is cosy and comfortable. Check in and out is simple and convenient. We had a lovely stay and will surely use it again soon.

    Matthew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage tucked away in the heart of the village. Fantastic facilities and a great location for Northumbrian costal walks.

    Julie2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage exactly as described. Fully equipped and really clean would recommend.

    Annette2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have now stayed twice in this lovely, cosy cottage that has lots of thoughtful touches. It's in a fabulous location too. There is a bus that stops in the village - we caught it to Seahouses and walked back along the coast, which is a great walk.

    Vivienne2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Snowdrop Cottage was sparkling clean and was well equipped. It’s in a great location, just a 15 minute walk to the beach, and then a short walk to Dunstanburgh Castle.

The location is great - approximately a 15 minute drive to Alnwick and a 10 minute walk to a lovely beach. Highly recommend this accommodation and would book again.

  • Poppy Cottage is a lovely and cosy space. Clare makes a real effort with the little touches and the welcome pack (bacon or kippers, fresh bread, eggs, jam, milk, cake and wine) was fantastic to walk into. If you’re there in summer she’s provided things for the beach. As a host she really goes the extra mile.

  • Staying Kay's was brilliant. She was talkative and kind, and the cabin was perfect for a relaxing break!

    Noah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The accomodation is really nice and well kept. The cabin is in a very good condition, looks brand-new. We stayed during a winter storm and it was still very warm and cozy. It's close to the A1, but couldn't hear a thing. The breakfast was really tasty, with plenty of options to choose from.

    David2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kay was an absolutely amazing host! We were warmly greeted and even presented with cake and Prosecco upon arrival! The cabin is cosy yet modern, is stunningly decorated and has all the amenities you could want. Kay has provided helpful information with regards to the local area, and has some great recommendations. The full English breakfast was out of this world and we were really impressed with all the other options that were available. The effort that has gone into making this an amazing experience is greatly appreciated and we will definitely be returning!! Thanks again!

  • Had a lovely time in the cedar cabin, we stayed here for 3 nights, the cabin is so beautiful and cosy and has everything you need and more. Kay adds lovely special touches that just make it even more perfect. Breakfast was amazing and we was spoilt for choice with the menu. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here the views from the cabin are picturesque.

  • Absolutely lovely place. So cosy! Accommodated to my food intolerances and the hospitality was impeccable

    Eilish2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My wife Lee and I expected nice accommodation but were blown away by the cabin. It was a little bigger than expected but the beautiful touches just made it great. Kay's hospitality was next to none. She put all the services we expected and more. What a lovely breakfast she prepared for us with lots of choice. Our bed was cosy and the cabin was warm. On top of all that a bathroom where everything worked and so stylish. We could keep talking about the cabin and Kay but must just say you will not be disappointed.

    Rob2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed overnight in this lovely place. Kay made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived even offering to run us to the wedding we were attending. She made us a delicious fish chowder soup. The cabin is beautifully appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was substantial with lots of choice. We would highly recommend this lovely b&b to others.

Cosy 2 bedroomed cottage on the outskirts of Beadnell Village with beautiful views towards the sea and the Cheviot Hills. The cottage has a well equipped compact kitchen, a cosy lounge with french doors on to the patio where you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
Beadnell enjoys both a rural and coastal landscape and is a perfect base for discovering Northumberland
  • The Bothy is a lovely cottage in a great location for exploring this part of the Northumbrian coast. 15 min walk to Beadnell or beach. 10 minute drive to Seahouses for supplies. Lots of thoughtful little touches and really dog friendly. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Bothy to anyone.

    Tim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in February. We met Sam’s brother who was very friendly and asked how our stay was and if they could improve anything. Our dogs settled straight away. It was a great spot close to Beadnell. We enjoyed a walk down to the beach each morning and was close enough for a walk to the Craster Arms on an evening. The locals and landlord were really friendly and welcoming and the dogs enjoyed it there too. Lovely views from the back garden. It was a very comfortable and cosy cottage. It was well heated. We loved the cake, wine and chocolates. There was milk in the fridge, coffee, tea, sugar and hot chocolate. There was everything we needed for our stay, Sam really has thought of everything and we were so lucky with the weather. We came back and thought we would book again for the Summer but it was all booked up for our dates which didn’t surprise us. Obviously everyone else who stayed there had the same idea. It’s in a great location for Bamburgh etc. Thank you for our fabulous stay. We had a lovely time and so did our dogs. I’m sure we will be back.

    Mark2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived we found cake and wine waiting for us at the cottage. Amazing! It was clean, comfortable and very safe for our dogs. Only 10 min walk to the beach. We highly recommend the cottage you won’t be disappointed.

  • The Bothy is one of the cosiest and mot comfortable places we have stayed. There were a lot of thoughtful touches (the welcome cake, chocolate and wine was lovely) and everything you could need. It's set just outside of Beadnell Village (about a 10 minute walk in) with a couple of other cottages and is ideal for if you need a bit of peace and quiet. We will be back (maybe even with some four legged friend next time as we noted that the cottages were extremely dog friendly). Thanks to Sam and all - it is truly a lovely part of the world to stay.

    Sian2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, well equipped home close to fab beaches. Super comfy with nice welcome touches - including for our dog. Would definitely recommend.

  • The Bothy is a cosy little place. We felt immediately at home, and a lot of effort has gone into making it comfortable and convenient. Lots of thoughtful touches and a warm welcome. Would definitely visit again.

  • A lovely cosy spot in a fantastic location. There were some great welcoming touches - a homemade cake and milk and wine in the fridge, the cottage was well-equipped and warm (we stayed in February). There was also a wealth of (up-to-date) information about things to do in the surrounding area.

  • Fab cottage in a great location, Low newton, Embleton & Craster a short distance away. We have been a few times to Northumberland now and this was by far the best cottage we have stayed in. Our dogs settled in and the enclosed garden is a bonus, lots of nice touches and Sally goes out of her way. Great log burner to keep you warm. Will be back in the future.

  • Wow! This is a gem of a find. Great location, beautiful area and everything so convenient. We booked because of the enclosed garden and other dog friendly features and we were not disappointed. Lovely touches like dog towels, toys, treats ( and Prosecco, bread, milk for the humans!) the beds were so comfy. Recommend the walk from Craster to Dunstanborough castle. Also enjoyed the Joiners Arms. Hope to be back

This was our first stay using airbnb and Ali made it very easy for us and guided us through everything which was perfect and very reassuring. The home itself was just that - you didn’t feel like you were in a hotel or holiday home, you felt at home as soon as you walked through the door with the attention to detail on the little homely touches. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t available and everything was done to a fabulous standard. We would definitely return!

  • A gorgeous place to stay and enjoy some peace and tranquility! Right on the beach and despite being adults we enjoyed the use of the buckets and spades thoughtfully available!

    Sue2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay at Marram Cottage, which was spotless and ready for our arrival with a fully made-up fire and other lovely touches. The cottage is very well-equipped and located in a sheltered location on the other side of the dunes - which wrap around the beautiful Beadnall Bay. Adam and Deborah had left lots of helpful information on local sights and attractions and the cottage is very well located for access to places like Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne and Cragside.

    Tom2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely modern , well appointed and quiet bungalow, which one can feel at home in straightaway.

    Jane2019-09-14T00:00:00Z

  • Can’t recommend Ruth and Adam’s place enough. Lovely house and great location. Can’t fail to have a good holiday.

    Catriona2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Location. Location location!!! Amazing location right next to the bay. 1 minute climb over the dunes and there on the most amazing beach, where special memories were made. Thank you

    Michael2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed there as a family of 3 with a 2 year old daughter. The set up was perfect with the accommodation appearing as it does on the website. Beadnell beach is beautiful and a stones throw over the dunes at the back of the house. The house was really clean and the kitchen and living area were done to a good standard and great to come back to after outdoor activities. The bedrooms, toilet and bathroom are small but that is the style of the house and made no difference to us. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others. There is loads to do within easy reach of the house or on the beach at Beadnell. Perfect family stay.

Situated in the quiet hamlet of Tughall Steads – an 18th Century former farm masterfully converted to provide unique and luxurious holiday accommodation. The quality and location of this beautiful cottage is very special indeed. Just a few minutes drive from some of the finest beaches in Northumberland - such as the incredible cove and beach at Beadnell - and very close to other major attractions, like village of Bamburgh and its famous castle.
The two storey cottage has a spacious entrance hall with stairs leading to the first floor accommodation including two good-sized double bedrooms (one with additional sofa bed), and a well-equipped family bathroom. Downstairs is the lovely kitchen/breakfast room, fitted with a range of quality units incorporating electric hob and oven, integrated dishwasher and fridge. Also the charming sitting room including LED SMART TV (with Netflix), contemporary electric living flame fire, and picture window, alongside an access door leading on to the rear patio and garden area. Externally the property is approached to the front via a courtyard with block paved allocated parking. To the rear there is an open hard landscaped garden with additional vehicle access, block paving and stone flagged patio. Additional parking is available in the development. Also, we are pet friendly!
Just a few minutes drive from the incredible cove and beach at Beadnell - perfect for kayaking, swimming and all water sports - which stretches South to the National Trust-owned historic fishing village of Newton-by-the-sea. Short drives North to the charming village of Seahouses and Bamburgh (with its mighty castle), and South to the vilage of Craster (home of the famous kippers!), from where a short pictureseque walk will take you to Dunstanburgh Castle (voted one of the 10 best walks in the U.K by The Guardian). For a taste of the local fayre, head to the Jolly Fisherman pub in Craster for a crab sandwich or something more exotic! Also just up the road on the hill at Swinhoe is a boutique BOX Pizza cabin serving artisanal wood fired pizzas with fabulous views of the countryside - just perfect for a relaxing al fresco evening, with a glass of wine to watch the sun set.
  • Second time staying here and once again we were more than satisfied. Lisa is a very friendly and responsive host ( by message) . The accommodation is spotlessly clean , very comfortable and extremely well-placed for exploring this beautiful part of the country. A car is essential . An excellent find.

Lisa and John left several thoughtful touches on our arrival including treats for our dog and treats for us too! The area is quiet but also well-placed for exploring the area as it is near to some beautiful beaches ( Beadell, Alnmouth, ) and some good villages . There is a selection of supermarkets restaurants and pubs within a short distance by car , which is very convenient too. We would certainly stay here again . The Signal Box is our gorgeous little studio; a quiet getaway in the Northumbrian countryside. It's situated in the village of Ellingham, has a log burner, south facing balcony overlooking fields and a private enclosed garden. It's fully equipped for self-catering and is within a minute's walk of a great pub if you don't fancy cooking. Its name is our little touch of whimsy because we immediately thought of a signal box when we first saw it with its exterior wooden panelling.
The Signal Box is the perfect place to get away from it all for a few days. We love staying there with our dog Pebble and hope you will too! It's accessed via an external staircase onto a south facing balcony complete with patio furniture. Large patio doors lead into the open-plan living space, furnished with log burner, sofa seating for two, TV and DVD player, dining table and chairs, double bed, wardrobe and shower room. The kitchen has an induction hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge with ice-box, dishwasher and washing machine. Outside there's the south facing balcony, plus fully enclosed garden with two seating areas and a brick barbecue. There's also parking for one car on the driveway at the front of the property. It's situated on the edge of a quiet village, yet only a short drive to the beautiful beaches of the Northumbrian coast and to the market town of Alnwick. If you need a city fix, you're less than an hour away from Newcastle.
Ellingham is a small village about 7 miles north of the market town of Alnwick and 5 miles inland from the beautiful beach at Beadnell. There's a great local pub, the Packhorse Inn that does lovely food
  • Fantastic accommodation, with everything you would need, very comfortable and user friendly. Great information on local things to do and see. Had dinner one night and fish and chips take away another night from The Pack Horse Inn, well worth a visit, great food and brilliant staff.

  • The Signal Box is well equipped, comfortable and ideally located to explore the wider area. It has been nicely refurbished and has everything you would need for a short break. Jenny provided ample information before our stay and within the folder at the property. Dogs are well catered for and even get snacks left for them. The property is in a quiet location and within very easy walking distance of the local pub and driving distance of the beautiful local beaches. We really enjoyed our stay here and would consider returning at another time.

Kirsten can recommend many top places to go for food and attractions, please message with any questions. *** The Joiner’s Shop Bunkhouse is nestled nicely in the wooded hamlet of Preston, at the bottom of the hill secluded from nearby abodes. The building dates back to the 1860s when it was a purpose-built Joiners Shop: eventually the cottage became a family dwelling and in the early 1990s the Workshop was converted into a bunkhouse, and here we have the birth of this magical place! The Joiner’s Shop Bunkhouse is very much a traditional, get away from it all, bunkhouse. It is all thrills and no frills! It’s not shiny and modern but rustic, cosy and wholesome. We have everything you need for a comfortable stay: heating throughout, hot showers, 18 sturdy pine bunk beds, full kitchen including oven, fridge and microwave, long kitchen table, living room with plenty of seating and an open fire. There is also plenty of parking and an outdoor area to enjoy the sun or gaze at the open dark skies (you can see thousands of stars on a clear night!) There are 18 beds in the bunkhouse, they are seperated into sections of 2s, 3s and a 5. So although the dorm is still a shared space there is a sense of privacy with plywood and curtained sections. The bathroom has 2 hot electric showers, 3 loos and 3 sinks. The loos, kitchen and living area are all shared spaces. ***
Rolling hills, beautiful woods, country pubs, endless sandy beach walks, Preston Tower, towering castles, oodles of nature, friendly locals!
  • Really lovely space, absolutely perfect base for my birthday weekend

  • Kirsten is a great host. She replied quickly, was very friendly and flexible for our group. The bunkhouse is an amazing find. It is a reasonable rate with all amenities, the cosy fire was fantastic, the location is ideal and the beds were comfy. Thank you! We'll be sure to return :-)

    Francesca2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in the bunkhouse! We had it to ourselves between three families (6 adults, 6 children from a baby to 14 year old) which felt like the right number of people for the space. It was so cosy, especially with the stove lit. The sleeping space did get a bit chilly at night (it is January!) but with the super cosy duvets this wasn't a problem at all. Everything we needed for cooking etc was there. Kirsten was great and went the extra mile, even chopping some kindling on request when we needed to get the fire lit. The area is stunning and we enjoyed two great days out at Beadnell Bay/Seahouses and at Bamburgh Castle. We'd certainly return here!

  • Stay at Kirsten hostel was definitely an experience. Amazing hospitality and place just itself will be a memory for a long time. Will come back there soon if I'm around.

  • A great place for a family gathering, our party ranged from 88 to 2 yrs old. Safe environment for children who loved the bunk bed arrangements. Nice and clean, well equipped for cooking. Warm and snug with the open fire, despite a weekend of pouring rain. Loved the woodland walk across the way, great hit with the dogs.

    Karen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I was only there for one night after a wedding but long enough to notice a few thoughtful touches - homemade jams & local tips, books etc.. Bunk bed comfy enough & each set of bunk beds is curtained off so a bit of privacy :)

    Diane2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Joiners Shop is absolutely ideal if you are just looking for somewhere comfortable to lay your head, with all the basic amenities you could need. Check in was easy, with Kirsten very flexible with my late arrival. The bunkhouse is clean and comfortable, and given it's a building dated 1860's has its own unique style and quirks making it a fairly unique place to stay. Absolutely fantastic value for money and recommended for anyone travelling or wishing to explore the local area.

    Mark2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, very clean comfy bed and a cozy fire made for an enjoyable night lovely pub close by with great food recommended by the great host !

  • Lovely characterful cottage! check in was easy with the keys already in a lock box especially when we ended up reaching the place quite late, the lights and heating was on ready for us so all we had to do was walk in. the cottage itself is decorated very modern and set within beautiful grounds of Charlton Hall. Also I want to add that I have not had such a good night sleep in a very long time! the bed was so soft its like I was in a cloud! Richard was also very quick to get back to us on any queries we had and kindly let us stay a extra night after we had a car disaster!

  • This was our second stay here. Its a great place. Very peaceful and stylish. Hosts are very easy going and the house is presented really well. I would not hesitate recommending a visit.

  • Set in beautiful rural surroundings, this property was a delight to stay in. It’s been stylishly and though fully renovated and is ideal for a family of 4. There is so much to do within a relatively short drive of the property. There are beautiful walks/runs from the property. Richard was a perfect host and responded very quickly to questions and requests. It would have been even more perfect if the log burner hadn’t been decommissioned but alas, you can’t have everything.

    Joe2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Richard’s place, it’s a lovely cozy house in the middle of a beautiful location, we wish we could have stayed longer :)

Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, amazing views of the sea and sunrise, an entrance to a costal walkway that leads towards an old castle is just a few steps away, one great value and we’ve truly enjoyed our stay.

Open countryside views from tasteful homely cottage. Sofa-watch nesting swallows!
Relaxing 2 bedroom cottage, village location, pleasant walks to both beaches. The Sands is a semi detached cottage on a quiet cul-de-sac a few short minutes walk to the village centre. Open plan living downstairs with a kitchen that has all the facilities you would expect including washing machine, hob, oven, microwave etc. There is even space for a dining area seating 4. French doors out to the patio with stunning views across open country side. Horses in the field over the garden wall and you might catch a glimpse of a hare, a stoat and plenty of rabbits. Most years we even have our own families of swallows nesting above the patio and you can watch them come and go from their nest while you sit on the sofa. Upstairs the accommodation provides a double bed and adult size bunk beds upstairs with a family bathroom.
You are well placed to access both of Beadnell's beaches and the village has a couple of places to eat very good food plus a couple of very good pubs which also serve food.
  • Our family of 5 just had a wonderful stay at the Sands. It was a very fresh and modern cottage with lovely outlook over a field with horses. John and Heather kindly left us tea, coffee and cake upon arrival. The cottage had all the amenities we needed and was spotlessly clean. The village of Beadnell is lovely and we enjoyed a meal at the Craster Arms which is child friendly. All of the well known Northumberland sites are within easy reach of this cottage. If we were ever in Northumberland again, we would stay here. Highly recommended.

  • The bungalow was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is in a tucked away location in the village but still only a few minutes walk from the Craster Arms and the Salt Water Cafe. We ate several times in the Craster Arms and both the food and the beer were good and the the staff were very friendly. There is also a small shop selling all you would reasonably want within close walking distance in the other direction. The general area is lovely, with plenty to see and good walks and beaches. The only thing lacking was WiFi but forewarned is forearmed. Luckily the WiFi at the pub is fast and free. It may be useful to know that as well as a DVD player, there is a spare HDMI port on the TV.

  • Great place, unusual but all the better for that. Very quiet at night.

  • George was a great host who made sure that I was going to stay snug as a bug during my midwinter stay. The cabin is a fun & functional place to stay with the beautiful Embleton Bay just down the road. The perfect escape to recharge your batteries!

    Ma2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • George's place was lovely, a real escape. It's little, cosy, and the fire warms the place up quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our night here, and the skies are just incredible! The loo is a little bit of a walk from the main hut but that's not really much of an issue, just something to be aware of. The outdoor shower was interesting and warm! George has done a fab job, I think this place would be wonderful in summer!

    Lucy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Georges place. The hideaway is in a lovely location, it’s quirky and different. The hideaway is comfortable and clean.

    Gillian2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A one-in-a-million experience for those who want to go off-grid! Quirky, fun, cosy and cute -the 'outdoor' shower experience is particularly recommended! Next to Eleanor's Byre shop/coffee shop, within walking distance of Embleton and a short drive to the quaint fishing village of Craster. Recommended: Craster Seafood Restaurant (opposite the Jolly Fisherman pub) and of course the short but bracing walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle!

    David2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in The Hideout with our dog. Only one night, wish it had been longer. The accommodation is cosy and romantic, the neighbours (the cows!!) are super cute and not at all noisy. Showering with a view out over the fields was an experience not to be missed!! Also, Alnwick is super close for food if you drive. We're sorry we didn't stay longer so we could try George's pizza.

    Amy2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil setting, amazingly cosy space and great host

    Pooja2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for some peace, quiet, amazing sunrises and sun sets and fantastic star gazing. George’s place is quirky and cosy and in a great location, a twenty minute walk to quiet beach, loads of nice villages nearby and close to Alnwick too for the gardens and castle. George himself is a really nice guy and nothing seems too much trouble. His pizzas are absolutely worth a try too! Really enjoyed our few days chilling out with the cows (Beth adjusted to them in the end...) and feeding Mabel the pig! We will be recommending.

  • A beautiful apartment in a Georgian house in a lovely village. Its tastefully decorated with stylish comfortable furniture. Very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and Claire really has thought of everything. Good location for visiting all the local attractions.

    Karen2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t add anything to what has already been said about Claire’s apartment - it’s clean, tidy, well equipped, excellently situated and the photos don’t do the size of the place justice. It’s huge! Beadnell is a great base to explore the area. The bus stop is directly outside the property and we found the buses ran to timetable. All in all a lovely, relaxing holiday in a fantastic location.

There is an airy open plan kitchen and dining room, with French doors leading to the long lawned garden, which is fully enclosed and completely safe for dogs or children. In addition to the 2 upstairs bedrooms, there is an expansive and beautifully furnished lounge area at the opposite end of the hallway. The cottage also houses a collection of original paintings and photographs from renowned local and international artists. The property has gas central heating with radiators throughout. Kitchen and Dining Room: The front door opens into a small entryway, which in turns leads to a large open plan kitchen and dining area, with a lovely outlook onto the front garden, accessed via French windows. The kitchen is comprehensively fitted with all the usual appliances, including Rangemaster electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. In this area you will also find the dining table, and a casual sofa for lounging. Utility Room & Cloakroom: To the left of the entryway, there is a washing machine and chest freezer in this useful room, along with an iron and board, clothes drying stand and step-stool. Downstairs Queen Bedroom and Bathroom: A hallway from the kitchen leads to a very large bedroom with a Queen bed and wardrobe. And next to the bedroom is a complete bathroom with bath, shower over bath, wash hand basin and WC. All windows have blackout blinds. Upstairs Hallway and Lounge: A staircase to the first floor hallway leads to the large and sumptuously furnished lounge room with leather Chesterfield sofas, designer furniture and lighting, an electric fireplace, and 55 inch HD TV with full Netflix and terrestrial channels. At the other end of the hallway are 2 bedrooms with full ensuite bathrooms. Master Bedroom: This light and airy bedroom has a king size bed and a large characterful window overlooking the beautiful garden and copse of mature trees housing the treehouse play area (not busy). A spacious ensuite bathroom is adjacent to this room with separate bath and shower. Towels and bedlinen are top quality. A blackout blind is provided for shielding out early morning sunshine. Twin Bedroom: Another cosy bedroom with 2 full size (3ft wide) single beds, and ensuite bathroom, with the same beautiful garden view. The bed linen and towels are top quality. This room also has blackout blinds. Outside and Garden: The Old Dairy is nestled in a pretty hamlet of similar luxury cottages within the grounds of Ellingham Hall. The cottage has a large – fully enclosed - lawned garden which is one of the best features of the property, and is perfect for kids and dogs to have a great run around! Parking is behind the cottage, with 2 dedicated parking spaces. To the front of the cottage there is a wooded copse within which a magnificent yet tasteful treehouse play area has been constructed for children to play on. The area is quiet and safe for children to play in the treehouse.
  • John and Lisa provide a wonderful, well equipped home, it would be difficult not to relax as soon as you walk in the front door. There is a lovely welcoming feeling with a thoughtful basket of goodies and a welcome message on the chalkboard even including some Christmas decorations for our stay over Christmas and the new year. Everything is thought of including doggy towels for our canine friends! I can highly recommend staying here. There is a wonderful beach just 10 minutes away at Beadnell and peace and quiet in abundance. Lisa and John always communicated quickly to any question asked. What a wonderful place!!

The cottage itself is open and spacious but cosy and warm. Buckets in the shed and games kept the kids busy, as did watching the horses gallop around the field behind.
