“This secret little cafe hidden behind the church has breath taking views of Mellieha Bay and Gozo. It is awesome place to chill and watch the sunset too. ”

“Beachaven is another hidden gem in the beautiful bay of Xemxija (pronounced SHEM-SHE-YA). Located next to and literally above the water via its raised decking, it was originally a boathouse where boats could pull up and get refreshments, fill up with fuel etc. However these days it is now also a lido and bar/restaurant, meaning you can relax here all day on the sun loungers watching the boats coming in and out, whilst keeping refreshed at the bar. Alternatively head here in the evening and sit on the decking amongst the boats and have a meal and a few drinks taking in the sea air. Food here is basic but good, but Beachaven is all about the location, it’s a beautiful place to be, especially in the evening.”

“Calypso’s Cave Surrounded by myth and superstition, Calypso’s Cave is believed to be the place where sea nymph, Calypso imprisoned Odysseus in Homer’s Odyssey. But aside from the Ancient Greek associations, the real attraction of this particular cave is its awe-inspiring views out over the burnt red sands of Ramla Bay. Wander down onto the beach below to take in the remains of an 18th century fort built by the Knights of Malta, or simply take a dip in the cooling waters. ”

“Hours: Tuesday 5pm–12am Wednesday 5pm–12am Thursday 5pm–12am Friday 5pm–12am Saturday 1pm–12am Sunday 1pm–1am (Feast of Saint Paul's Shipwreck) Hours might differ Monday 5pm–1am Nice little pub which belongs to the Maritim hotel across the street but anyone can visit. Has the ambiance of a cosy brown bar and the service is just friendly and cool. One of the few places for tourists to have a drink and chat without the need to order food. ”

“This was our favourite hang out place when we were living at the flat because besides having lots of character, the owner is very friendly and if you like meeting new people, it is quite easy to speak to others at the bar. They also do platters and have a great wine selection. The place was literally a carpentry before so you can see the old restored equipment inside. Its got a quirky touch to it. ”
