An abundance of lakes, Rivers, and wonderful towns to explore.
  • Cool little town i was there in the winter and was there for work so didnt explore the property too much but it was a beautiful spot. 5 mins from a small town and a good restaurant. Views were great in the winter. You access the hot tub through the main house. Cell service but no wifi in the guest sweet. Zach was very accommodating though.

  • Very clean, cute little cabin. No electricity but easy enough to see around and play games with some flashlights and lanterns. Lots of nice little touches. No issues getting in with a smaller car, the long driveway was well plowed. Nice and warm with the furnace and the location is beautiful on a secluded property with a great view. Would definitely stay there again!

  • This is a lovely, secluded cabin that provides the opportunity for a restful vacation. It comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cabin is on a beautiful property with a great view. If you’re planning on heading there in the winter, I strongly recommend a 4x4 or vehicle with good winter tires. The cabin is off the main highway, so the drive can be challenging in the snow.

  • Bring your favorite book, cozy cloths, lots of simple meals and snacks and there’s nothing else you’ll need for a week! If you love the outdoors, are water conscience, and not afraid of peace and quiet you’ll love this little cabin in the hills. Kathy is a considerate host and has thought of many details to make your stay simple and clean. Visit in all seasons and enjoy the impressive view from a great covered porch. If a little dirt under your nails doesn’t ruin your day, settle in and enjoy letting time go by!

  • Cabin was lovely and clean hosts were great! Lots of adorable little personal touches to the cabin. Lots of history in this little cabin! Outhouse was the cleanest I have ever seen! Land and the view was beautiful! Well worth the price of the cabin and hosts provided lots of amenities such as lighting and extra water. Check out Egan Chutes!

Camping in Algonquin Park is expensive! And who wants neighbouring tents? Come stay on a working farm in the quiet town of Maynooth, just 30 minutes from the East Gate of the Park and the town of Bancroft. This campsite is nestled in a bit of forest, on a clearing that's a layer of moss on rocks. It does get a bit of morning light. This site is located right close to the outhouse, and 100' from the field kitchen. For a more secluded site, see our other listing.
This third-generation farm with hundred year-old house is a passion project in ecology, food security, and preserving traditional skills. Pigs, goats, bees, ducks, and chickens work in a cycle of inputs: digging, clearing brush, and fertilizing future farmland in this rocky place, so that we can grow awesome organic veggies. We have 35 acres, and two nice clearings in the forest. This site is 400' from the farmhouse, and quite private. This campsite is large enough for a 10-man tent or two smaller tents. The clearing is a base of pine needles and birch leaves, and nice and soft, and overhead tree canopy keeps the rain and morning sunshine diffused. There's a short cut-through the bush to a rocky pile equipped with a fire pit. We stock some firewood, starting materials, and water to extinguish, but we encourage you to use deadwood and help us clean up the forest surrounding! Trailers, campers, and other vehicles are welcome as long as the ground is not spring-soggy. You can park fairly close to the campsite. There is an outhouse and field kitchen with a propane stovetop, small propane grill, and wash-sink (rain barrel-fed.) The kitchen is screened-in against bugs, with a small table, and a couple chairs. It's rustic, but serviceable! The field kitchen is equipped with some basic amenities and tools like pots and pans, soap, oil, spices, and dishware for 4. A french press for your coffee, tea towels, a bluetooth speaker, and candles. It has solar lights to help you cook in the dark. You shouldn't need to bring any cooking equipment, unless there's something special your camp meals require. Fresh eggs are available, and u-pick veggies and herbs. We may have meat for sale. Laundry and a shower are available with permission. You're also welcome to tour the farm and interact with the animals: pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks. In fact, you may have some for neighbours!
Maynooth is home to antique stores, 2 breakfast spots, and a pub open Friday and Saturday nights with live music. There's a liquor store, gas bar, ATM, and general store with necessities. Please be warned that the town on Maynooth is your last stop for amenities, and shuts down at 6 p.m. daily. Be sure to bring enough fuel! (and beer) We can direct you to fishing, swimming, and hiking spots, plus three close-by provincial parks. The town of Bancroft, with more amenities, galleries, and really good coffee is 20 minutes south. Here you can rent canoes and kayaks. There is a more complete list of things to do and see in our welcome book.
  • Such a wonderful stay - loved the kitchen - really helped reduce how much we needed to bring - we even enjoyed morning pancakes. We were a group of three - two were fromthe USA - raved about the property. We enjoyed the spacious and clean camping site itself and hospitality. Alex was very friendly and helpful - enjoyed the recommendations for hiking trails not too far from her home. Would love to stay again in the future. Next time, we'll drive up to Algonquin :)

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tom and Alex’s place! They made sure everything is set up for our stay and helped us settle in. The outdoor kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed our dinner with farm fresh products produced by them. The actual camp site is surrounded by trees so it blocks the wind, and has a nice setup of a fire pit. You’ll get to see animals in the farm, and a charming cafe is just a few minutes away for your morning caffeine fix. We 100% recommended this place for anyone!!

  • Fantastic place for a quick getaway from the city. The farm is pretty busy with pigs, goats, ducks, chickens and some local produce. The campground is sunny and easy to access. Highly recommend staying here.

  • My husband and I had and absolutely amazing time at Tom and Alexs farm. The camp site was beautiful and secluded, the field kitchen was rustic and super cute. We had fresh eggs from the farm and were able to interact with our animals. We also had a dog with us would was welcome with such love from Tom and Alex as well as their dog Stella. We had an amazing first time in Canada.

  • Tom and Alex's place is so lovely and unique. The beautiful outdoor kitchen makes this place worthwhile on it's own, but they also happen to be amazing, down-to-earth people that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable during your stay. Would love to visit again in the future!

In a time of such uncertainty, our primary focus with our cottages is to provide you with a safe and worry free escape to stretch your legs. We have implemented a new policy that allots for 4 days between bookings where no one enters the cottage. On the 4th day our cleaners enter fully protected and sanitize thoroughly. These measures were implemented not only to protect our cleaners, guests and family, but also to assure we are not contributing to the spread We take pride in this.
The Lakefront cottage is a brand new renovation that sits right on the edge of Little Mcgarry Lake, a small private lake, all yours to enjoy. Winter activities include ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We are right beside a trail system that leads into the major trails that are ideal for snowmobiling! The rental includes 4 ice fishing poles, 4 pairs of snow shoes and a map of the trail systems for snowmobiles. The cottage is outfitted with mid century modern and antique furniture and feature all original art by Canadian artists. Guests staying here will have all the luxuries of their own home with a full kitchen, wireless internet and more! This is the perfect family cottage getaway and yes we allow your 4 legged friend to tag along! We look forward to hosting!
Maynooth is a quaint little Ontario town with lots of little art galleries and antique stores. They also have a delicious breakfast spot for those morning that cooking just isn’t on the agenda. Our backyard is essentially Algonquin park so your adventures to be had are endless!
  • We had the most amazing time at Joshua’s cabin. If you are looking for a dog friendly rental with lots of trails on-site to explore, this place is for you! We snowshoed the property for a total of 5 hours over the course of the weekend. Our dogs were able to be off-leash which we all loved! We did a few trails twice because they were so nice and explored a bit on our own between the trails. There was so much to explore we didn’t feel the need to leave the property to explore other hiking areas. There are lots of nearby trails for those who want to check out more, but we were just happy to stay put. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need! We felt spoiled with the large kitchen with a fridge and stove and full bathroom with a shower and tub! We personally loved that there was no cell service, so we could completely relax without distractions. You can connect to the WiFi as needed, which is a great option. We had such a great time and we will be saving this property to our favorites list for future getaways! I can only imagine how gorgeous this property is in the Summer and Fall!

  • We spent 3 nights at the cottage with our kids over the family day long weekend. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful nature. The view of the lake is breathtaking and the trails on the property are amazing for snowshoeing. Such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. We went snowshoeing on the lake as well and had a fire pit and roasted marshmallows that Joshua kindly got for us at the store. The kids had an amazing time tobogganing down the hill right in front of the cottage! We also drove to Algonquin Park, which is about a 45 minute drive from the cottage. We had a small issue with the water but Joshua came to fix it right away. He was such a great host who really went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay!

    Berengere2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot for our overnight snowmobile trip. Joshua could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

    Anna2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing. Me and my family, my kids loved this place. My oldest son ask me if we could live there forever 😂

    Jhonielly2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is everything as described! Perfect location very clean and rustic definitely a place I'd recommend or return to for summer adventures!!

    Matt2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • (French follows) Joshua's cottage is absolutely wonderful, located by a lake and surronded by hiking trails, with beautiful views, decorated with taste (Joshua is an art lover) and all the comfort you can wish for if you like cottage life, but with Netflix and Google Home ;-) My daughter and I went there for a long winter weekend, we had the opportunity to hike, dogsled just nearby, and relax in these amazing surroundings. The place is ideal for up to 4 people, with one (very comfortable) double bed bedroom and one bedroom with twin beds. I am dying to go back in the Spring or summer to enjoy the barbecue, the scenic fire pit and the canoeing! If you hesitate between several places, definitely PICK THIS ONE! I may add that Joshua is a rare host. First of all, he's a real person, not a lockbox, he himself lives on the premises and supervises another cabin there, but the land is vast and there is a lot of privacy for all. But mostly, he is very nice, careful and considerate with guests. We had car issues right before arriving at the cottage and Joshua was so helpful with everything that we managed to get everything solved rapidly. He also gave us good advice about the surroundings and activities and was available throughout our stay to make it really enjoyable! Book this place! Joshua's chalet is a small wonder, perched above a lake, surrounded by numerous hiking trails, with a magnificent view, tastefully decorated (Joshua is also an art gallery owner) and has all the comforts you can dream if you are looking for your "cabin in Canada", but in a version connected to wifi, Netflix and Google home ;-) We stayed at the chalet with my daughter for a long winter weekend, we were able to hike around, walk on the frozen lake, go dog sledding (10 min) ... I really want to go back there in fine weather to enjoy the barbecue, the campfire ideally located by the lake, and canoeing (Joshua rents and also loan equipment) !!! The chalet itself is ideal for 4 people or less. If you have children, the chalet is very well suited (games, sleds, buoys, etc.). Ponies, horses, sled dogs, boat, hike, wild animals nearby ... you will love it! If you hesitate between several places, choose this one ABSOLUTELY! Joshua, the host, is VERY nice. He is a real person, concerned about the well being of his guests, not an impersonal key box. He lives on the property, where he oversees another gite, but the grounds are large enough for everyone to enjoy their own private space. We had a car problem when we arrived and Joshua really did everything to help us. Thanks to him, the problem was solved quickly and we really enjoyed our stay! He gave us lots of great advice! I over-recommend this chalet !!!

    Tiffany2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great winter cottage! Views are unreal - even watched two otters play on the frozen lake this morning! Ice skating 10 mins up the road and tons of hiking. We even tobogganed on the property! Though the cottage is within close proximity to Joshua’s home, it still felt very secluded and private. I would definitely revisit. It was a great stay :)

    Kate2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location. Josh was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Lots of hiking opportunities both on the property and just a short drive away from Algonquin. Highly recommend!

  • It was an outstanding off the grid experience for us. The cottage sits right on the lake with crystal clear water, the view from the screened porch was breathtaking, especially in the early morning. Ronny the host responded our enquiries very quickly, he's extremely helpful. Overall I will rate 9.5 out of 10, the only thing to complain is the dull axe for the fire log, lol.

  • Agang Kundong East Gate is about 80 kilometers away, close to the lake, beautiful scenery, especially when the weather is good, watching the sunrise, it is really beautiful, the house is very big, you can have 2 families together, the house has everything you need, except With its own sheets, quilts and pillows, everything is perfect! PS neighbor is very nice, the homeowner replies fast!

  • Ron has been very kind to us. The house is quiet and beautiful. We immediately gave up the Algonquin park plan and just stay around the house for 2 days when we arrive. And we had so much fun when making fire. We will definitely come back.

  • At first we had a bit of trouble finding the cottage but we did arrive really late at night. The cottage was very comfortable and homey. My friends and I had an amazing time with an amazing view. Only downside was we wished we were told that the wi-fi was down so we could be more prepared for the weekend. Ronny did tell us he tried to get it up and running for us but wasn't possible to do it in time for the long weekend. Ronny was great and was always very quick with his replies. Definitely a nice getaway for a weekend. Highly recommended!

  • We loved staying here! The area was quiet and very peaceful. The cottage was clean and cozy. Unfortunately there was a power outage in the area for a while(caused by a huge storm) but having the fire places, pits and BBQ made it feel more like glamping! It also helped that we came prepared with lots of blankets, candles and flashlights. Ronny was quick to respond and was very helpful with his messages. A must while here...Watching the sunrise and sunset. It was the highlight of the trip. Truly breathtaking. Thanks again Ron!

This Aframe is a 20ft structure with very high ceilings and a loft area. It’s intention is to give you an opportunity to stay in a cross between glamping and tiny home living. The inside is lined with beautiful smelling cedar and reclaimed barn board. It features a full size propane fireplace which makes it ideal for winter vacations. The front deck has a propane bbq for cooking and a fire pit area for nighttime outdoor fires. Please note there is no kitchen for cooking. The washrooms are a short 2min walk down the trail and are private key entry washrooms that only you the guest have access to. Those washrooms are attached to the main office which you can also access the wifi. The cabin itself does not have internet access or cellphone reception. Guests also have waterfront access with a private dock and canoe on Little Mcgarry lake (canoe is seasonal, in the winter we provide snow shoes) also a short 2 min walk down the trail to the lake.
Our property is 28 acres and is surrounded by thousands of acres of crownland. We are a 35 min drive from The East age of Algonquin Park and a 7 min drive from South Algonquin. We are a prime location for anyone looking to Atv, snowmobile, snowshoe, hike or cross country ski. Our land spreads out across 1600ft of waterfront on a small private lake and guests do have access to the lake, despite the cabin not actually being on the water. The little town of Maynooth is 7km away and features a fantastic little breaskfast restaurant, a gas station, a pub and tons of little art galleries and antique shops and 20km away is the town of Bancroft where you will find your larger box grocery stores and traditional shopping.
  • Place was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet and remote. Josh was a great help and quick to respond.

  • Beautiful cabin in private wooded area. Would love to make a return visit some time.

    Kacey2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had an amazing weekend getaway here thanks to Joshua!! It was a very private and romantic trip away from the city surrounded by the tranquility of nature. The place is absolutely beautiful and was equipped with everything we needed. Josh was very considerate and he was always a step ahead of us to attend to all of our needs. We will definitely come back again in the near future to visit the other cottages!! :)

    Rachel2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location with beautiful trails and a private lake to explore. Fireplace keeps the cabin very cozy!

    Lydia2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was much cleaner than expected. The surrounding area had a lot of trails and Algonquin trail was a short drive away. Josh was quick to respond with any questions. Only thing was no WiFi in the main cabin and the washrooms/showers were a short walk away from the cabin but this didn't take away from the overall experience. The cabin itself was cozy and had all necessary amenities and more. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a unique experience.

    Felix2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Joshua was cute but the place is even cuter

    James2019-12-22T00:00:00Z

  • my parents, aunt, and two little cousins stayed at Daniel and Tawnya's place just for a night, for a quick trip away from the city and to see the beautiful fall colours. and what a beautiful place (the mornings are spectacular)! the house has all the things you'd need to cook, relax, and have a really sweet time. the river is beautiful and definitely worth taking a little ride around with one of their boats. i'm looking forward to staying much longer the next time around

  • Cute cabin, great property.

    C Ayles2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Daniel and Tawnya's place. Everything was as described in the listing. Rustic and simple but comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed some beautiful views of the river in the morning. Caught a few fish and enjoyed some nighttime campfires. Was great spot for us to stay as we explored the area rockhounding. Thanks again!

    Dan2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel’s cottage was exactly as pictured! It’s a simple space (no wifi or cable) but was immaculately clean, with hot water, a bbq, canoes, and a fire pit. About 2km up the road, there’s a lovely beach with clear water and sand banks that extend pretty far into the lake (which is great for weak swimmers like me). Looking forward to booking again!

  • We headed to Christie’s to escape the city for a few days and both of us were really craving some silence and some darkness. The place did not disappoint. It was very peaceful and the stars were amazing. The house itself had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Jennifer2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We spent a lot of time at the lake in front of the cottage, either on the paddle board, canoe, and paddle boat, or just sitting around the bar. There is lots to keep the kids entertained, including volleyball, air hockey, and table tennis. At night we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit out the back, but remember to bring mosquitoe repellent.

    Luke2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Christies places is an amazing place to spend time with friends and family! A ton of activities from canoeing, peddle boat, and volleyball net. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thank you Christie.

    Tina2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to getaway from the regular life. Spent spring time there but would definitely try to book it for the summer.

    Henry2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Christie’s cottage is great! There are plenty of board games available for use. The description of the place says only one bathroom. However, we were surprised to find two complete bathrooms (even though the second one is on the basement). The kitchen is complete with all appliances and utensils. The view is stunning! The cottage is designed and decorated in a country side style that makes every stay special. We hope going back in the summer time! We need to splash in that lake!!

    Bianca2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a place in the area for a nearby wedding, and this was absolutely perfect. I stayed there with a few friends, and it could not have worked out better. The property and waterfront are beautiful. Christy was very responsive and helpful, and she checked in during our stay to make sure everything was ok. The listing is accurately described. I would definitely go back!

    Sara2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time with our kids & family at our annual cottage trip. Christie was very accommodating & managed to fit us into this Summer on short notice. Her cottage has a ton of great things to do & had endless amenities to keep us entertained! Our exchange student from France especially loved the little bunkhouse! Our kids spent their days laying on the raft, trying the paddle board & learning to fish! Very family friendly & spacious for entertaining. Would recommend this cottage- has some rustic components but we thought these added to the charm!! Will be back! :)

Located in the heart of Maynooth, an arts community with galleries and shops along the main drag, our house is located less than 45 minutes from Algonquin Park. We have trails and lakes and a vibrant night life on weekends at the hotel. Canada's Group of Seven painted in the area and there are many of their works of our main street. The two of us ran a guest house just outside of town for 19 years and welcomed over 1000 guests from Europe, Australia, the U.S. and Canada.
We're happy to announce the installation of an Acorn stairlift which makes the second floor bedroom more accessible for those facing some mobility challenges. We also have a/c on both floors all summer long and a fan in the guest room. Recent improvements include the guest bathroom which is nearing completion (a touch up with a fine brush). Our gardens are in full bloom and art is flying off the walls of our gallery.
The best part of the Maynooth experience is once you arrive and park your car, you can walk everywhere. We're one city block long. 14 shops and galleries to explore.
  • I stayed here over the weekend for SOIceFest and it was a wonderful experience! Joey is very kind and accommodating, and I very much enjoyed my stay.

    Adrian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Wildewood guest house with Joey and Barry was such a lovely weekend! They are incredible hosts! So warm and welcoming, the room was perfect all set up with towels toothbrushes and thoughtful items just incase we forgot, lots of local maps and brochures to read, and the best of all was Joeys breakfast and company! What a wonderful experience- we hope to be back!

    Cate2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay with Joey and Barry and didn't want to leave. They warmly welcomed us in their lovely home and made our time in Maynooth special, funny and delicious (pancakes !). We couldn't have asked for more.

    Jennifer2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Joey and Barry are fantastic hosts. They are warm and welcoming and are fascinating people with backgrounds to match. They not only helped us find an amazing horse back riding tour, but also called them up for us to inquire about scheduling. We had three breakfast with them and each one was different and each of them tasty. The house had an art gallery at front showcasing artwork made by local artists that are friends of the hosts. The room is rustic and cute and gets very dark with curtains drawn so it's great for sleeping in (bed is also comfy). The dog friendly backyard is an open space with lots of sunlight and a bench to relax and hangout (did I mention they love dogs?). It is relaxing and fun to hang out in this place. We would love to go back whenever we drop by the area.

    Stan2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Joey and Barry are wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at home. They were great with my dog and took care of her while I did some tourist things. It is going that extra distance that makes Joey and Barry superb hosts.

Our cottage is completely off grid. It's comforts are delivered through a wood burning fireplace, propane, solar power and rain water collection. We provide you with a good flashlight and a couple of battery powered lanterns for your convenience. Kitchen is fully stocked with standard cooking utensils. Wifi is not available at the Off-grid but the Office has wifi on the deck and there is also an outlet for you to use. The cottage over looks a pristine semi private lake that is home to a wide range of wildlife. Down by the water, we have a cleared picnic area with a walk-out dock that is perfect to take in the sounds of the water. Should you want to swim, there is a large floating raft set up in the deepest part of the lake a short distance off the shore. We have provided you with a paddle boat that you may use throughout your stay. IMPORTANT: be advised that the walk to and from the lake to the cottage is a steep hill. Behind the cottage we have a fire pit surrounded by cedar chips (they smell delightful) set up with Muskoka chairs and a picnic table to enjoy. Should you not be a bath person, beside the cottage, we have an outdoor shower with granite floors. Should you want to kennel your dog during your stay, please inquire about facility and rates.
We are minutes from the charming Town of Maynooth. Here you can have a lovely lunch, find some great antiques and take a gander through local galleries. This is such a great little town with so much ambition to thrive. Should you want to travel a bit, you have the choice of either going north to Barry's Bay or south to Bancroft. Both are approx. 20 minutes away.
  • This off the grid cabin has become a favourite for my husband and I. We returned for a second visit, and this trip up was even better than our first. Josh is a fantastic communicator, helpful with tips about the property and the area, and this year we took a beautiful hike throughout the property...which was absolutely breathtaking.

    Alicia2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage had beautiful views and was very private. It was exactly as described and we won’t hesitate to come back. We loved the quiet seclusion it offered and we were missing the wood stove when we came back to our own place lol. Thanks again, Josh! We had a great time!

    Dorothy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice off grid cottage, Josh was very helpful when we needed something. Very quite and remote, the wood burning fire place is a nice touch and gives off a nice heat for the fall weather.

    Ceci & Mich2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a wonderful, secluded and tranquil haven. We loved being off grid and not having any phone signal was a blessing, it gave us all the opportunity to truly disconnect. Propane lanterns, a fridge and fireplace were all that we needed. The board games were a nice touch and we stayed up late into the night with wine and trivial pursuit. A special mention for what Josh has done with the lake, a fun row to the middle to a fun little pontoon. Complete with water trampoline and a pink flamingo, we had a blast.

    Jemma2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really great stay. Kids (7 and 11) loved it. Relaxing for the last two days of a two week holiday. We were planning to go further into Algonquin Park for a day but ended up making full use of the lake. Really good communication from Josh throughout.

    Nicholas2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time off the grid at their cottage. Joshua was very nice and amenable. Loved the disconnect from the outside world. 38 minutes drive from the East Gate of Algonquin was very handy. Loads of stars in the sky.

  • The place is fantastic. It’s loft style and cozy. Jean has games for guests to play on rainy/ grey days . There is a fire pit outside and a fire stove inside so rain or no rain you’ll have that cottage feel. There is a gazebo for lake side eating and jean provides life jackets for use of the canoe and paddle boards, a major plus. It’s lovely and super quiet and I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet cottage getaway.

    Miranda2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had had a great time at Jean's place. Location is great both for visiting Algonquin park (through east gate) and for spending time at the lake (Jean lets you use their Canoes and SUPs!). Foliage is amazing in the park and just starting around the St. Peter lake so the next few weeks should be fabulous at the cottage. Communication with Jean is very easy and helpful. It is important to note that one of the 4 rooms is located in the adjacent cabin and it has its own washroom ( it is mentioned in the listing but I somehow missed it :-)).

    Oren2019-09-29T00:00:00Z

This year we are offering 2 bedrooms for guests. Our home is located directly on Kamaniskeg Lake. We have a beautiful private beach. We are in a beautiful forest with nature all around us. We are located 1 hr drive from Algonquin Park in the beautiful Madawaska Valley. Our 2 person kayak is available to share with our guests so they can explore Kamaniskeg Lake. We can give you tips on the attractions that are not in brochures, waterfalls, lookouts etc. Have a bonfire in our firepit.
The area around us is truely rustic and beautiful. Enjoy swimming or snorkelling on our private sandy beach or take the kayak out for an adventure. Go hiking on our local trails.
We live on a small dirt road that runs along Kamaniskeg Lake. Great for walking with a spectacular view. Combermere is 8 km away and Barry's Bay is 20 km away. Close enough yet far enough away.
  • Absolutely amazing host and lovely place to stay! We were going ice climbing and weren't sure if any of the Airbnb is available during the freezing season. Marg and Andy responded quickly and arranged around to accommodate our stay. The house was super clean and well-organized. We stayed in a cosy room and had lovely breakfast! Thanks for this exceptional experience! Next time, I'll make sure to bring a gift to bribe Banjo. :P

  • Diane and Richie's Chickadee Lodge was the perfect place to stay when my husband and I were in town for Rally of the Tall Pines. It was the perfect distance not only to the event, but also downtown Bancroft, while still being in a private, less busy area. We had some difficulty going up the long driveway, even in our AWD vehicle, due to some slick spots, but my husband likes a driving challenge. When we finally made it up, Richie was there to take us into the lodge, while Diane was already inside to greet us with a smile. They gave us a tour and then let us enjoy the space for the evening. Since the rally was the following day, we just stayed in and enjoyed the comfy couch while watching complimentary Netflix. We opted for the continental breakfast as we wanted to leave fairly early on Saturday, but we definitely regretted not being able to spend time with the hosts and get to know them. Judging by different things in the lodge, they seem like very interesting people. So we will just have to come back again! We definitely recommend their place. It's better than pictured and described. It's a lot more spacious than expected. We can only imagine how beautiful their property is in the summer! Thank you for our lovely stay!

  • We had a wonderful time. Diane and Richie are amazing hosts!

  • Everything was as we expected or better

  • Lovely house and hosts. Richard and Diane were wonderful and very attentive. The place was as advertised on the listing. Would definately recomend.

  • Diane and Richie’s place is wonderful place to stay in if you want to forget about the city’s hustle

    Sara2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Diane’s main floor walk out suite was nice and spacious, with a private entrance. They met us to check in and showed us around and asked us what time we would like breakfast. The breakfast was a nice bonus with the stay, and was really tasty. They invited us to eat outside on the deck under the mosquito net tent for breakfast when the weather was lovely. They were very welcoming and friendly.

    Brittany2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Diane and Richie's place is just perfect and cosy in the middle of all the Hastings wilderness. Perfect stay if you are planning to spend time at Algonquin or if you just wish to unwind over the weekend in a lovely cottage in the woods. Diane and Richie's hospitality is amazing. The checkin, the breakfasts and the lovely conversations and experiences that they left us with will always be remembered. A bit about the house. We were 4 of us, all adults and the house easily fit all of us. There is a well equipped kitchen for to use during the stay. The living room is nice and cozy for you to lighten up. The big windos give you such a well lit nice environment. We would love to return back.

Hi there! Welcome to The Arlington. This 100-year old hotel now operates as a budget travelers' hostel. Private rooms, dorm beds, a pub, and a boatload of history. Use us as your home base to explore the mighty Algonquin Park. See you soon!

Not only is Algonquin Park nearby, but there are lots of beautiful spots to hike and bike right around the hostel. The quirky little town of Maynooth offers a smorgasbord of art and antique shops. Come once, you'll fall in love!
  • I booked my night just the day before and it was no problem at all. When I arrived Ro told me I am the only one staying the night in the hostel - amazing. Have you had a whole hostel for yourself - I really enjoyed my time and definitely was able to relax. Everything was super clean and I really loved the whole atmosphere in the hostel. It is comfortable and you just feel at home. Thank you Ro for opening the hostel for me!

    Marie2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ro offering a nice place to come together with other travellers. It is a sweet little hostel surrounded by a small village. For backpackers and similar people I recommend this facility.

    Carsten2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very, very clean. Large parking space. Ro is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed when you arrive. Excellent hostel, will definitely come back.

    Brian2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hostel for those wanting to visit Algonquin. Very clean. As good of a location in "almost" rural Ontario you will find. Its still a strong 30min into the entrance of the park. For quality of hostel it was excellent overall. Also to note the travellers visiting would definitely not be the same clientele as you would find in a city hostel. Very friendly and open atmosphere.

    Ben2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Ro’s place. Highly recommended

    Ali2019-08-31T00:00:00Z

  • We had a great stay this past weekend. It was fantastic to be able to bring our dogs to a cottage. The cottage was great, no shower but as long as you know that ahead of time it's not a big deal, The Price is Right, the hosts are great and there's a really nice Beach a five-minute drive away.

    Christine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice rustic cabin in a natural environment. Clean and functional.

    Martina2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • In short, a calm, quiet, serene place to relax, rewind and rejuvenate. I'm sure that explains it all. Our stay was pleasant, and short trips to nearby places was awesome. Best was watching old classic movies with family over a VCR, and my kids infact asked me lot of questions how a VCR works mainly because there was no cell network at the cabin so they couldn't google it I guess. River is right across the cabin, very relaxed ambiance there and if you like kayaking, you will love it. I was able to see bright stars in the sky after long long time while enjoying family time at the campfire. Overall a very good cabin experience.

    Raj2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and Tawnya were amazing hosts! The cabin was the perfect spot for a getaway weekend on the river! Next time we won’t forget our lawn chairs to take up to the sand bar by the rapids!

    Hannah2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel was great and the cabin was exactly as shown. Was great to be away from it all. During the day, chill by the river, start a fire until the wee hours in the morning, with no one to bother you. Dogs allowed was awesome! Ours had a great time as well. Do not expect cellphone reception.

    Harry2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice secluded location. Close to the road, which sees 1 car per 15 minutes and is not bothering at all. The property holds 2 cabins and a house. The cabin #1 has everything one would need for cooking and relaxing. The cabin is rather sound proof and allows you or your family to have some privacy. We stayed in October and the temperature outside was around 5 degrees Celcius. With the electric heater kindly provided by Daniel it felt around 18 degrees indoors which was still chilly but OK for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay - peaceful and lovely fall-colours-getaway.

  • We had an amazing time at Catherine’s cottage! She was a lovely host and easy to communicate with. The cottage is super clean and roomy and had everything we needed to make our stay easy and cozy. There’s more than enough utensils, pots & pans, glassware, etc. and the beds were all super comfortable. The little boat was a huge bonus to get out into the lake and explore. The location is beautiful and private and the lake has the most gorgeous sunsets! Can’t wait to go back again next year! Thank you Catherine for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!

  • This was our first family vacation and we were looking for the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, adventure and comfort. We found everything we could have needed or wanted at Wolf Point Cottage. • Wholesome and modest budget accommodation. For the unassuming patron The Arlington provides a decent stay within driving distance of Algonquin Provincial Park. The staff (and Maynooth locals) are friendly and sociable, carrying themselves with pride and the bar is very reasonably priced. Whilst there is some room for improvement in the shower facilities they do the job, the common room is awash with films and games if the bar isn't your thing and the kitchen is well stocked for all the budding Nigella Lawson's amongst you. This quirky old-school house, complete with squeaky floor boards and wonky stairs has an endearing character and for the traveler functioning on a budget, The Arlington gets a thumbs up from Kayla and Dan

  • Fantastic place! We loved the location; amazing access to snowmobiling trails, close to the general store / gas station, the overall spaciousness of the house, spectacular views of the lake, kitchen was fully equipped which was wonderful as we like to cook. The host's directions, property instructions and area information were clear, witty and very helpful. There is no doubt that we would love to rent this place again! Thanks for being a great host Dave!

  • Great place for families and kids. Very large space indoors and outdoors. Lots of seating. Large kitchen to cook food. Beds were comfortable. House was well heated. Pool table and boats provided were nice. We used the large TV to hook up to laptop and karaoke machine. There was also satellite TV with lots of channels which was great for the kids. No WiFi though. Rogers data was slow, Bell was good. Washrooms are updated and very clean. Would’ve been better if there was a dock to fish off of. Overall, great place to stay! Thanks Dave!

  • Phenomenal, classic Canadian cottage experience. Gorgeous views of splendid lake, amazing amenities, and a great time had by our crew at Karin's place. Karin was a great host, and very attentive and responsive to any of our questions while we stayed on Lake Papineau. Thank you, Karin!

  • So much better than the pictures. Decor was so interesting! Beds were clean and comfy. The big table was great for group meals and kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The public beach was amazing for swimming and all the kayaks/canoe meant our group of 11 could all paddle over together! Thanks for sharing your cottage with us!

  • Karin's place was amazing. It was exactly as described and a great place for a large group to be together, yet still have space to ourselves. Highlights were: all the included water crafts, large dining room table, separate boathouse, shallow entry with jumping dock and all the included amenities. We truly enjoyed our week and lucked out with the weather, allowing for some amazing star gazing on the dock! 5 stars all around!

  • Heaven on earth! We loved this gem!!!

  • Beautiful setting, beautiful cottage well stocked with anything you might need. We had a wonderful week and especially enjoyed out time on the beach with the kids. It is a short kayak or paddleboat ride away and has a sandy bottom which was perfect for our needs.

  • Cottage was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. We had everything we needed and were extremely pleased with our stay. Complete with cozy beds and lots of room to gather with family, this cottage felt private and serene while still being nearby Bancroft (30 min). The lake was gorgeous clear, and wonderful for swimming and the nearby beach with the gradual sandy entry into the water was perfect for our children! Karin was always prompt in response to our questions and was a perfect "host". We would stay again!

  • Fantastic!! Beautiful house! Great views. Gorgeous lake. Karin went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed - flashlights, towels, water toys, condiments, kitchen gear, etc. The place was spotless too. Bedding super comfortable....I could go on and on. I like that there were two separate 'houses' such that the common areas were in the main house, which made the house great for a large family group like ours. Sleeping in the downstairs boathouse was out of this world - loon calls, lapping water, seeing the stars out the windows etc. I couldn't have asked for a better cottage experience. Thank you!

  • We needed a place to sleep on our journey. Sleeping in this hostel was a great discovery. People are very friendly. The village is great, it's full of little antique shops and galleries. Beautiful corner. Very good experience.

  • Bernie is very friendly and receive us with smile even we arrived very late in the evening. He gave me good tips and very clear instruction with pictures of how to enter Algonquin Park south tip to a beautiful trail that leads you to a tranquil waterfall. It's perfect route for us. We had a great time there. The hostel itself is very basic but for the price you paid, cannot ask for more. Overall it's a great experience.

  • We had our bachelorette here at the Hostel and had a blast partying at the pub downstairs.

  • I'm very grateful to Ro, who attended us in spite of arriving too late; I enjoyed the place, since it is beautiful, special, with its own style and joyful. I'd suggest it to anybody who was visiting the area

  • We had a fantastic time. The building itself is iconic - the bright purple makes it impossible to miss on the drive up. Everything was clean and well maintained, shared spaces were well taken care of, and check-in/out were no problem. Our favourite part of the Arlington was the bar downstairs and the vibe that goes with it. Easy, positive, and genuine - we caught a show in front of the bonfire on Saturday night and were absolutely enchanted. Maynooth is a great little town to explore for local art and antiques, but go to Bancroft (nearby) if you're feeling a late night.

Camping in Algonquin Park is expensive! And who wants neighbouring tents? Come stay on a working farm in the quiet town of Maynooth, just 30 minutes from the East Gate of the Park and the town of Bancroft. This campsite is nestled in a bit of forest, with a rocky area perfect for a fire. It's a very private spot, but a bit of a walk from the field kitchen and outhouse. Check out our other listing for a camp clearing that's more family-friendly.
  • My stay was relaxing, the area is perfect for staying connected to nature, the kitchen was handy, the host was very helpful and reachable.

  • We had a great stay at Tom and Alex's farm. We camped in the forest site. The site is big enough for a big tent or several small ones. It is next to an area with a fire pit. There is everything you need for the fire. The camp site is very comfortable as the ground is soft you could even do without a mattress/pad. The outhouse kitchen is great an stocked with oil, pepper, salt, a few plates, utensils, pans etc. Just bee aware that this space is shared with other campers. But the campsites are very far away from each other like on the other side of a field so apart from the kitchen area you'll have your privacy! There is a small table that can sit 4 ppl and two additional camping chairs. It was very nice to have the fresh eggs from the farm. You can have access to a mini fridge in the porch of the farm or to a cooler with ice. We absolutely loved the fact that we could go see the piglets, goats, chickens etc. There are not close to the campsite so if you don't want to see them you don't have too ! Alex gave us some local tips on where to go for a hike. There are a few areas around where you can swim as well. Check out the SunRun Cafe in Maynooth for a really good local brunch. The general store also has what you may need. Alex and Tom gives you the privacy you need but are available if you need and respond quickly. It is more comfy that camping in some parks where you are just close to other tents. So, great spot! Highly recommended! We'll return next year if we can!

  • Tom and Alex are amazing! We camped there for a weekend, but could have (and wanted to) stayed much longer! Tom had a fire going when we got there, so we didn’t have to start one ourselves after our long drive. We chose to camp in the forest, which is surrounded by trees, with just a small opening so you can see the farm fields and the stars at night. Lovely area/setup! We had the place to ourselves, so much better than camping at a campground! The field kitchen was fully stocked, and to our pleasant surprise, we had fresh laid eggs and a selection of veggies from their garden greeting us the next morning for breakfast. All were so delicious!! We even got to take a tour of their farm to meet all the animals. Tom and Alex thought of everything, I’ve never spent a weekend camping and been so comfortable! They are so welcoming, very informative, and you can tell they love their farm and everything on it. Thanks again for such a wonderful experience!
