Fishing blackhall pond... boat... kayak.. canoe on premises...great setting.. sunsets...quiet... peaceful slice of heaven. Ice fishing also a plus!!
Clean redone one bedroom one bath bungalow with full bath and kitchen/living room. Screened in porch for quiet sunsets!!
Great hometown restaurants nearby... also great little country market with great food..
  • It isn't possible to say too many good things about June's bungalow. The location is so tranquil and so beautiful. Morning coffee, gazing out at the pond, watching the ducks and sunrise. A pellet stove to keep us warm and cozy when temperatures dropped. Abundant towels and culinary supplies. Lovely neighbors. This really felt like a home, not a hotel. June was super responsive, caring but not intrusive. My dog and I would go back in a minute, and we both highly recommend it to other human and canine guests. Both are equally welcomed!

  • June’s place was the perfect cozy getaway and her hospitality exceeded our expectations! The pellet stove was easy to use so we could make it extra cozy during our late December stay. We were easily able to checkin with a lock box and was greeted with yummy treats for us and our two dogs. This Airbnb is the perfect place if you have behaved pups. We set up dog beds in the living room and they loved the pellet stove. The yard isn’t fenced but there’s plenty of space for them to run around while we enjoyed the view of the pond. June had all of the kitchen gadgets for cooking making it easy to stay in for meals. We found a hiking trail just 5 minutes away called “red trail to blue trail” on the All Trails app. Very easy trail with little to no incline but perfect for a short walk with the dogs. The neighborhood is quiet but in just a short drive you can be in the fun town of Mystic! We’d move into this adorable bungalow in a second that’s how much we loved it. You won’t be disappointed!

  • June’s place is beautiful! Nestled on a lake in a quiet neighborhood, the house is very cute and comfortable. June is very responsive and helpful!

  • We had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Old Lyme. June's cottage is lovely and perfectly located for beautiful walks, restaurants and shops. We love it!

  • 2nd time staying at June's - such a lovely time, as always. Hate saying goodbye!

    Brigid2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and welcoming home for the weekend! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and it was nothing short of amazing! From waking up and having breakfast by the pond in the screened in porch to enjoying a drink and watching the sunset we wouldn’t change a thing about this trip! June is such an amazing host from her hospitality to her tips and guide of the area! She really helps make your stay memorable! She filled the fridge with every day needs like water, eggs, and bread. And was kind enough to leave snacks like chips and more! She was extremely accommodating when we asked for an earlier check in time and even stopped by to show us how to use the beautiful pellet stove in the living room! This cozy bungalow is perfect for a couple for a nice fall/summer/and winter getaway! Thank you so much for everything June we can’t wait to come back and stay again!!

    Lexi2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • June's lake side cottage was cozy and charming. It was just large enough to feel comfortable for two people and also small enough to encourage great conversation and friendship all weekend. The lake was gorgeous (we stayed in mid/late fall) and we had a lovely time poking around Old Lyme and East Lyme. Thanks again, June!

    Emily2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • June’s bungalow is so charming and cozy. In a fantastic location close to great towns with things to do and restaurants. You can also spend the day out on the pond with boats. We brought our corgi who had a fantastic time. June was extremely easy to communicate with and ask for suggestions. 100% will be back very soon.

  • The room was very nice and clean, I really liked how the host respected my privacy and did not hover. I would’ve loved to meet the host but it was also okay. All around good experience

  • The space is bright, clean, cozy and inviting. I’m very picky with the bed quality, and this bed was quite comfortable! The couch was lounge-worthy, and the carpet is spotless. Luckily we were used to waking up early, so we didn’t mind the noise of a toddler running around. In all the place is worth the stay

Adorable 1800 cottage with views of the CT River. Upstairs bedroom with a king. Bathroom with a tub and a tiny kitchen. Other room is used as an office but has a queen pull out bed. Watch the Essex steam train, Becky Thatcher riverboat, or hang out at the river, bring your kayaks or paddleboards as there is a boat ramp right across the street.
This cute cottage was built in 1800. It is across the street from the Connecticut River and provides you with a plethora of fun things to do if you like to paddle! The area is great for just walks or hanging out and relaxing or discovering small New England towns.
Our neighborhood rocks! You can watch the steam train the Riverboat, swim or paddle in the Connecticut River. You can take a long walk in the woods or into town, there are restaurants and bars, grocery store, anything you really want is in Deep river.
  • Andrea's place is really charming and with many personal touches. It's the perfect getaway located in a quiet small town that has managed to preserve it's identity over the years. The CT river is only 2 min walk from the front door with lots of places to explore nearby.

  • The cottage is a cozy riverside getaway, with a location handy to local towns and great restaurants.

    Janine2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a cute place! The quiet seclusion was just what I needed for this trip. The bed was very comfortable and the room was cozy. The bathroom was a little small, I found myself ducking out of fear, I'm 5'9, but it was fine. I liked the antique feel to the kitchen utensils.

    Ricky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint cottage right across the street from a beautiful river. I saw an amazing sunrise and a beautiful full moon over the water. I appreciated the fresh eggs! Spent some time at the Nest coffee shop which was cozy and tasty. A good place to stay for some quiet introspection.

    Julie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful location! Looking out the kitchen sink window you have a view of the river. Cottage is located on a quiet street. Close to Deep River’s downtown. We enjoyed our stay.

    Brittney2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I love this cottage, and the area around it. If you’re wanting a space that’s relaxing and yet close to things to do, stay here! Andrea took care of making my stay as easy as walking into my own home. And enjoy the local restaurants, too, especially The Nest coffee house!

The apartment is private and in a separate wing of a converted factory complex which includes an owner occupied building and artist studio. We gladly welcome well behaved pets.
The apartment is modern and open yet charming with 1975 sq. ft. of living space. It is the home of the former Erickson-Davis Gallery, retaining some artworks by the host and her husband. It's a great space for entertaining but events must be booked in advance with an additional fee. There is also a large office area in case you might consider bringing your work with you.
Ivoryton is a small hamlet in the Village of Essex located in the Connecticut River Valley, a few miles off I-95, halfway between NYC and Boston. Essex is renowned for its quaint New England Main Street and vibrant boating scene. Essex Main Street is two miles away. There's also a vast system of hiking trails in the area. The Ivoryton Playhouse, The Connecticut River Museum and The Essex Steam Train are just some of the local attractions along with many fine dining establishments.

    Tara2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The space is one of a kind. If you're looking for a unique place to spend your time, Pam's Airbnb is the one for you. Location was perfect, close to Essex, Old Saybrook, and Clinton. Thoughtful amenities like slippers, dog biscuits (dog friendly), and coffee maker with coffee were great touches. Thank you, Pam!

  • Really unique space with a lot of nice touches like board games, slippers, heaters, Bluetooth speakers, etc.

  • Spent the weekend and it was such a cool space! Pam left us coffee, creamer and cookies as well as english muffins and jam in the fridge. The floors are cement so Pam has a basket of slippers on the heater for cold toes! Super comfy bed and lovely shower as well. Lots of fluffy towels, extra blankets and everything you need. The locations is really close to downtown Essex and all the sights and close to markets/grocery as well. Thanks for sharing your space with us, Pam! We had a lovely visit.

Lovely small guest house on a property, set apart from the main house, located on a quiet residential street. This location is very convenient to I95, Old Lyme, Essex, Old Saybrook, and Chester. It has been renovated and comes with a queen size pull out with a 4" topper. There is a refrigerator and keurig coffee- fruit and pastries are included for breakfast, not a full breakfast. The pool is steps outside your room and there is a lounging area adjacent to this.
  • Beautiful and clean property! Wonderful amenities! Had a wonderful stay.

    Amaliah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Mary’s guest house!! As a host, Mary went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. She provided wine, cheese/crackers, fresh fruit and juice, coffee, pastries, beverages, and the list goes on! The pullout sofa was surprisingly so comfy with a memory foam top, plush pillows and AC. Everything was also super clean. The location was great being located in Old Lyme with a cute country store down the road with homemade foods and anything else you would want. I would definitely stay again! The pool was still open which made for an even more relaxing stay. The backyard where the guesthouse is located is beautiful and zen. We will be back!!

    Rebecca2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was a wonderful host! She had home made cookies waiting for us upon our arrival and the guest house was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

  • A truly Five Star experience.

    Gregg2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Mary's place driving through this beautiful landscape, pulled up the driveway into this charming house. The pool house is in the back through this exquisite garden that's very well kept. The pool looks magnificent and speckless. We were greeted by the host who was friendly and happy to have us there. The pool house itself is marvelous. It has all the amenities needed. A mini fridge, table chairs, big closet, bathroom with shower, queen bed and glass sliding door over looking the pool. Everything was very clean and tastefully decorated. There was special attention to detail and everything was very thoughtful. We absolutely loved our experience in this place!! The host very kindly left us a bottle of wine, cheese and other snacks. The note left by her was a nice touch. Our night's sleep was incredible, the bed was extremely comfortable and cozy. In the morning, the Host was thoughtful to leave us breakfast outside our door. Mary went over and beyond her duties as a host to make sure we had the best stay possible! We highly recommend this place! Five stars!

    Nick2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's pool house was way more than we could have ever expected. There was a cabana next store too to sit and relax. My husband and I were in town for the weekend on business and took our bikes with us and explored breathtaking local roads, went to the Side Door Jazz Cafe, The Bee and Thistle and had an afternoon relaxing by the pool. We will certainly be back! All of the amenities and extra special touches were above and beyond. Just what we needed to enjoy the last weekend of August and summer. Thank you Mary.

    Corey2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Old Lyme, home of bayside views and historic fossil grounds! Mary’s beautiful backyard garden and pool made for a setting unlike any other in this world. Essentially, I was transported to the beautiful summer I spent in Le Grau-du-Roi in 2016. I recommend the sunset views at Liv’s oyster bar. Mary had left us snacks, beverages, and morning breakfast! I really couldn’t envision a happier paradise.

We enjoyed three nights here and it provided a great base to explore in all directions. Communication with the host was excellent and we would definitely recommend this space to others.

  • The place was cozy and perfect. And that view was amazing! The entire property was very beautiful and I would to love stay again.

    Olyvia2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place was everything Andrea said it would be and more. The location is spot on for a great little get away at any season. You're not far away from town yet Andrea's place is off the beaten path. It reminded me of a little get away to the New England country side. The old steam train and the local ferry dock area right outside your front door added a picturesque charm to Andrea's place. My 11 year old daughter and I plan to visit again in the near future. Andrea is an amazingly accommodating host. She went out of her way to make our stay the absolute best getaway ever. We recommend you check out the little gem in CT if you can. It'll be worth it and then some.

    Nice space to relax.
The spot is perfect for kayakers, you can walk and put your boat in right at the river only a couple of houses away.
  • Andrea was an incredible host! My family and I came to CT last minute for a death in our family and we were in search of a quick rental that was close to family. She got back to us right away, let us rent for the same day, was so so accommodating, and let us check in early. I can’t thank her for her hospitality enough, especially during a very tough time for my family. The place had everything we needed and more and was just the coziest house. Can’t recommend staying here enough! The location is amazing & the host is a gem.

  • Andrea was a great host. We appreciated being able to stay in the cozy little house. Loved walking down to the river landing which was decorated with Christmas lights, etc. Thank you.

    Constance2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's place is "as advertised" The quiet location so close to the Connecticut river is fantastic. The house is well-furnished and the kitchen is supplied with everything we needed for our two week stay. Andrea was respective of our privacy while also being very responsive to our needs. Unsolicited, she arranged for our walkway and driveway to be shoveled and scraped following an ice storm, which was greatly appreciated! We will definitely check on the availability of Andrea's place when planning future visits to the area.

    Steven2019-12-17T00:00:00Z

  • What a great way to renovate a carriage house! It both looks and feels great! We loved talking to the ponies. We loved all the sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. We loved all of the little personal touches such as the great bag of coffee beans! We will be coming back for sure Thank you!

    Leslie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views and the sweetest ponies!! Check in was so easy and the place was huge especially for the price. I felt so safe too. Location is definitely higher end and kid friendly. Carol was so kind too and was there for anything. Will 100 % be returning in the future!!

    Jared2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Carol’s carriage home for our friend’s wedding nearby. There were six of us (three couples) and each of us enjoyed our stay very much. The place is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The coffee Carol provided and the coffee maker there were amazing. I would highly recommend this place for anyone.

    Ching2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures made Carol's place look amazing so our expectations were high, but I'm delighted to report that reality exceeded our expectations. The property is spacious, private, and well kept. The carriage house has been tastefully and intelligently renovated with quality materials, no cob job to throw something on Airbnb. The place is absolutely immaculate and has all the comforts (and necessities) of home including a laundry room! The bedroom suite downstairs with the dual bunks is huge and just plain fun. It's great for adults but if you're traveling with kids they'll think you booked the place just for them! The upstairs bedroom is also spacious and quite comfy. We had the whole family there (6 adults, 2 children, 1 infant) so 2 of us also slept on the incredibly comfortable sofas. We prepared all of our meals in the well equipped kitchen, the dining room table is large, and the living room is huge too. There are 3 AC units but our weekend was pleasant enough to just open the numerous windows and use the AC minimally. There's a little back deck, a nice back yard for the kids to run in, and the horses not only like to be fed but are quite friendly and love to be visited. The crowning touch is Carol. She is not only responsive but warm. Not putting-on-the-hostess-persona warm, but genuinely friendly. Clearly she enjoys this and the people that visit her property. I truly feel that I not only have a place for my family to stay when we visit the area now, but that I have a friend Lyme. If you're looking for an amazing place to stay in this area, I have no hesitation recommending that you look no further.

    Mike2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great, serene spot! Very clean and comfortable. Carol’s coffee is also outstanding. Highly recommend!

  • Great hosts and a lovely historic home

    Luca2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Candice and Adam are probably my favorite ever hosts. They were so kind and friendly from start to finish of our stay and were super cool. They renovated this property on their own and should win an award for all of the little and big touches that they have put in. It’s gorgeous. So unique and fun to stay in such a historic home. They were beyond welcoming and the room was beautiful. Very comfortable and decorated with such finesse. Essex is also such a lovely little town...we loved it. Candice has her own shop including organic natural products...one of which we purchased and it did exactly what she said it would. They also recommended a restaurant that we loved in Chester. I’m so glad we stayed. I’d recommend staying year round. An experience we won’t soon forget. Thank you so much, Adam and Candice. Hope to come back soon!

    Jackie2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Candice and Adam’s place is charming and excellently located for downtown Essex. I’d absolutely recommend staying with them.

    Wendy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is what an Airbnb experience should always be -- quick responses, a warm welcome, a stylish stay, perfect little touches. Candice & Adam were flexible with my ever-changing arrival time, there were just-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies in their gorgeous kitchen as I walked in, and the room was just as advertised -- beautifully appointed, really stylish and spacious bedroom with organic linens on a really comfy bed, and the beautiful bathroom had all the perfect little touches... antique fennel toothpaste anyone?! They gave me some great recommendations as to where to have dinner and then where to explore the next day, and upon departure, I stopped in to their little shop where again, everything was adorable and hip and chic. Thank you, Candice & Adam, and adorable Cash too (!) and I wish you all the best with your new house! **P.S. Candice used to own a bakery and her cookies were the BEST I ever had!!

    Leah2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming location, the hosts are incredibly friendly, the rooms are clean, and comfortable. This historic venue is worth staying at!

    Seth2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • It's going to smell so good every time you walk into a room! The mattress quality far exceeded any airbnb I've stayed in before which was an unexpected delight. Everyone is right in their raves about the treats. If Candice is around, expect to be spoiled!

Even gave me some recommendations for the area. the house is amazing. It has everything you need and the room is just enough for a short term stay. John was very responsive for any concerns I had. Amazing service from his part!!

    Sebastian2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • John and his family are the most genuine and wonderful group I have perhaps ever met. His daughter Alicia was at the house a few nights a week as she prepares to get married. Another "tenant" I suppose would be the word, AnnMarie, is conversational, endearing, and friendly. The home is beautiful and has everything one would need to feel comfortable for a short stay in a small town or an extended time for nearby work experiences. Would definitely recommend and hope that you have the chance to meet these great people.

  • My New York and Boston family chose Christoph’s lovely home as a midway point for a winter birthday getaway. The house is as stunning, bright, and comfortable as it appears in the photos. It was perfect for our group. I read some reviews that stated the kitchen is well stocked but the kitchen far exceeded our expectations. Christoph was very responsive and the thoughtful touches throughout the home were impressive. The house was also super clean! We were sad to leave! Thanks again for everything, Christoph. One of the top Airbnb experiences I’ve ever had. Five stars!

    Tasha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Christoph‘s place. The house is thoughtfully furnished and decorated. The kitchen has pretty much everything you can think of - we spent quite a lot of time cooking and enjoying the space. If you stay there in winter, just make sure you bring enough layers because the house gets really cold in certain areas with all the glass. Other than that, it‘s a great place to spend a relaxing weekend with friends.

    Elisabeth2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place for my family and I. We highly recommend it and the location was perfect.

    Alana2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful, super clean and comfortable, and conveniently located while still being private. Chris is extremely responsive and flexible with check-in and check-out times. Overall 10/10 experience.

    Ramsey2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This glass house is a peaceful getaway in a beautiful secluded setting, but closer to the highway, beach, and shopping than we expected. Chris was a great communicator before and during our stay, was non-intrusive yet available if we needed anything - as well as Laurence the sweet and kind property manager! Their home is comfortable, with an incredibly well supplied kitchen, windows everywhere, comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. It made for the perfect setting for our group of 3 couples to ring in the New Year! We used the fireplace constantly for warmth and cozy atmosphere, with plenty of room in the newly renovated kitchen for group prep and cooking, places for us to eat, relax, play games and hang out in comfort. Everything is just as pictured. Chris is so attentive and personable - too bad he couldn't arrange for snowfall to complete the perfect January escape ;-). We will definitely be returning!

Welcome to my home located in a suburban residential neighborhood only 1.5 miles from Wesleyan University. Guest room with queen bed is ideal for one or two guests. Parking for one car available in my driveway. I am self-employed and work at home, so I will be nearby if you need anything.
My home is a 24-year old two-story colonial, so there is a flight of stairs to get up to the bedroom. Guest room has queen bed, small desk, dresser, nightstand, bench for your suitcase, mini-fridge, small table, rocking chair, TV (basic cable), electric tea pot and a few snacks. Clean guest towels are provided. Shared bathroom has a hair dryer if needed as well as a wall-mounted dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. For an extended stay, you're welcome to use my washer and dryer. Living room has a wood pellet stove, if you wish to relax near it's warmth in the winter months. Guest room will have an air conditioner during the summer months.
My street is a quiet residential circle with very little motor vehicle traffic, unlike the louder traffic and activity closer to downtown or the university, but there will be the occasional sounds typical of a suburban neighborhood, like a barking dog or a lawn mower. I am 1.5 miles from Wesleyan University, 2 miles from The Barns At Wesleyan Hills, 3 miles from Middletown High School/MHS Performing Arts Center, 3.5 miles from Middlesex Community College, two miles from Middlesex Hospital. Located about 20 minutes from Hartford and 30-minutes from the Connecticut shoreline, and approximately half way between New York City and Boston.
  • I slept like a baby. Comphy bed, good air quality, clean bathroom. Bonus: lots of snacks. Thank you Virginia!

Located up the hill from Good Speed Opera House on the corner of routes 151 & 82. The folklore is that vacationers used to pay a penny to have their belongings transported by ox and wagon from the port at the river to this corner. A two family home built in 1884 with a ground level 1 bedroom apartment with private entrance. It is a busy three way intersection, mostly on weekends and summer months and morning/evening commuters. I do like greeting guests, the lock box is also available.
This is a 2 family house. I live in the main house with my husband. The airbnb space is an attached 1 bedroom apartment with a separate entrance than the main house. Free parking on premises. The living room/kitchen combination has a table & chairs. Twin size hide a bed is in this room (please keep in mind that the person sleeping on the hide a bed will be sleeping in the kitchen/living room area of this space) and another comfy sitting chair. Microwave, coffee pots, toaster, pots, pans, dishes & utensils for your use. Apartment size stove and fridge. Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar and sugar substitutes are provided. Bathroom is large with a full size tub and full size washer and dryer. Laundry soap is provided. Basic essentials (toothpaste, shampoo, soap) are available for you, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, towels and bed linens are provided. Bedroom has a full size bed, blankets, pillows and a desk with chair to use for work space. A very private and quiet room. A simple, comfortable and private space. Has all the essentials you need for an overnight stay or a long stay.
The Town Tavern Family Restaurant is located next to my place. Two Wrasslin' Cats Coffee House is located across the street from my place. Close by attractions include the famous Goodspeed Opera House, Scherer Library of Musical Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, St. Stevens Bell, I-Park, Nathan Hale School House, Gillette's Castle, Devil's Hopyard, Fox Hopyard Golf Club, Ray of Light Farm, and the Essex Steam Train & River Boat are just some of the local attractions. There is a visitor guide in the space for your use. Hiking and biking trails, antique shops, coffee shops, state parks, boat launches, fishing and many, many events hosted by several of the above mentioned places. For up to date events, please check their websites. Other restaurants in the area include Gelston House, La Vita at Goodspeed Landing, Village Pizza, On the Rocks at Fox Hopyard and many other great places to dine! You can cook your own meals or dine at one of the great restaurants! Please check their websites for hours and daily specials! Also, please make yourself aware of when places close in this area. Stores, restaurants and gas stations are not open 24/7 in this area.
  • Donna's place is clean, convenient, and comfortable. She is an excellent host who truly cared about my well-being. The apartment has everything needed in the kitchen, it's well-heated, and it is situated across from a wine/spirits shop as well as a great cafe and hardware store with lots of necessities. I will recommend this airbnb to friends and family visiting the area!

    Megan2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay! Donna was a great host and was always reachable! There were quite a few special touches that we really like. We would definitely stay there again.

    Amy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I tell you, it's not everyday you find people that are so thoughtful and genuinely nice like Donna. She went above and beyond to accommodate hubby and I & our 1 yr. old daughter. Donna is so sweet and even hit it right on the nose by getting our daughter's favorite snack! The fridge was stocked with some Gatorade, water, and juice and we even had snacks too! It was very much appreciated especially since we arrived pretty late at night. She was so nice to even let us stay a bit later after our check out time! Communication was superb, the place was nice and clean, even the coffee place across the street was amazing! Everyone was just so nice and it really felt like home. Thank you Donna! We will definitely see eachother again in the near future. A++ host. 😊

    Luz2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • the space was great, had everything we could have needed. Donna did a great job of communicating and adapting to our needs. Really great home.

  • This place is a true gem. Absolutely loved it. She’s very thoughtful and it’s everything you can imagine.

    Michelle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect! I was attending a wedding down the street and this was all I needed. There is a small kitchenette which is the perfect size. The bed was very comfortable and with the propane heaters I was very warm and cozy. Donna? Let me tell you about the angel that is Donna. She went above and beyond. She is SO KIND and attentive. The fridge was stocked with water bottles and Gatorade AND THERE WERE SNACKS!!! There were small toiletries available to me in the bathroom as well should I need them. I mistakenly waited to order an Uber for the wedding and they were not going to come to the house UNTIL AFTER THE CEREMONY. Panicking, I called Donna and asked her if she would mind giving me a ride to the venue (as I didn't know if I could leave my car overnight) and without any hesitation she said yes. Donna is truly one in a million and I will never ever forget her kindness. If you are looking for a short, wonderful stay Donna's place will be perfect for you. THANK YOU DONNA!!!

Escape the nearby beach with a quiet stay in the woods. Private room with private shared bath in an older single-family home on two acres of land. It has its quirks (like strawberry wallpaper) and it's not über-modern, but it's unique and we love it! Close to I-95, Route 9, and trains along the CT Shoreline. Near venues: Water's Edge (3 mi) ◦ Saybrook Point (8 mi) ◦ Madison Beach (13 mi) ◦ The Guest House (9.5 mi) ◦ Mohegan Sun (31 mi) ◦ Foxwoods (38 mi) More than two? We have another bedroom!
Bright corner room on the second floor with hardwood flooring, work desk, CRT TV (not connected to cable) with Super Nintendo and DVD/VCR , window unit air conditioner (June-September), multi-port surge protector with USB, laundry hamper, lamp with USB and power ports, Amazon Echo Dot, and queen-size bed with cotton blanket, down alternative comforter, microfiber sheets (flannel in colder months), and plush and firm bamboo pillows. Bedroom door has a privacy lock that only locks from the inside while the occupant is in the room. Two person maximum occupancy. Private shared bath (shower/tub combination, although we do not recommend using the bathtub) just down the hallway on the second floor with amenities such as a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, liquid body soaps, toothpaste, cotton balls and swabs, face razors, iron, and ironing board. Note that the bathroom is only shared with other Airbnb guests. Also the door will stick due to the humidity... just push firmly to close! Ground Floor: The den features a 46" HDTV connected to digital cable with HBO, Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel, etc., as well as Amazon Fire TV Cube with Alexa Voice Remote including several popular streaming services, and Blu-ray player. The house also has a dining room, formal living room, sunroom, and outdoor patio with grill (summer months). Full kitchen on the first floor with oven/range, microwave, dishwasher, toaster oven, crêpe/pancake griddle, waffle maker, and all the necessary cooking implements. There is also a Google Nest Hub connected to SiriusXM and Pandora Radio from where you can control the lights and more. Coffee bar in the dining room featuring a Keurig, coffee grinder, and a wide selection of coffees, teas, hot chocolate, oatmeal, and breakfast biscuits. The dining room also has a Google Nest Mini that is connected to Pandora Radio and SiriusXM. We are also pleased to offer snacks for sale, including soda, chips, ice cream, sweets, and more. Payments are accepted via Venmo, PayPal, and cash. If the weather's nice, enjoy the outdoor patio! Once a month - from May to September - the yard is sprayed for mosquitoes and other pests. Top-loading washer (without agitator) and dryer available for your use along with an additional toilet. Washing machine use is limited to a maximum of one load per day as the house is on a private well. There is one parking spot available for this room. The location of your parking spot will be noted in your arrival information message sent through the Airbnb inbox. No keys to lose or to return! Our home provides secure, keyless entry with an August Smart Lock. You can lock and unlock the door either with your smartphone using a unique virtual key or with a personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay. Instructions on how to use the smart lock is noted in your arrival information message sent through the Airbnb inbox. The personal entry code is e-mailed to you upon confirmation of your booking. There is a Ring Video Doorbell placed at the exterior front door of our home. This video footage is recorded for liability purposes (never shared) and stored for up to 60 days. Any attempt at disabling, redirecting, or obscuring the doorbell is prohibited. April - October: The heat is off in the house. Please note that air conditioning is limited to only the guest room as the house does not have central air. November - March: Like most New England homes, our house is built of wood and slightly creaky. Our heating system is oil with baseboard radiators. This is common in older homes of the Northeast where energy costs are high. The system is very quiet compared to forced or central heating systems. In winter, we keep the interior temperature of our house around 55-60°F (12.5-15.5°C) during the day; less at night, usually around 50-55°F (10-12.5°C). LGBTQ+ and military friendly!
Quiet, hilly, wooded, residential neighborhood two miles from the Ivoryton town line. Lots of woodland creatures around, like squirrels, turkeys, chipmunks, groundhogs, rabbits, deer, hedgehogs, foxes, opossums, skunks, and more - all harmless unless you seriously bother them. Please note this part of town does not have sidewalks or streetlights. The roads are windy, hilly, and the speed limit is 25-35 mph (40-56 km/h). Cell phone coverage in the area can be spotty, especially if you have a USA-based, GSM-only carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile. If you need to make phone calls, we suggest using apps over WiFi like FaceTime, Hangouts, WhatsApp, Skype, etc. Great location if attending events along the Connecticut shoreline. Water's Edge = 3.5 mi (9 minutes) Saybrook Point = 8 mi (17 minutes) Madison Beach = 13 mi (20 minutes) Mystic = 32 mi (35 minutes) Goodspeed Opera House = 14 mi (25 minutes)
  • We didn't need much, we were looking for a nice quiet place to stay for the night after a day in the Old Saybrook area. This place is very close to the local places we were visiting so that was convenient. This place is quiet and private. The instructions on how to find everything were clear. The room and the shared bathroom were very clean. My only regret was not being able to stay a couple of more days to take in the full experience of the area. I'd highly recommend this place for a person or couple looking for a nice, quiet and comfortable space to relax and chill out.

Plenty of blankets, a space heater, bathroom amenities and more. Our room faced the street but we barely heard any traffic. We were in a great location for exploring Essex. The shared bathroom wasn't an issue and we were able to juggle it with the other guests. The home was clean, calm, and smelled great! Candice & Adam were very kind hosts and were communicative about check-in and provided local recommendations. Thanks for our stay!

There is a refrigerator & microwave, plenty of dishes & glasses. There were yummy chocolate bars for us when we arrived. Perfect for the two of us.

Our guesthouse is on the Connecticut River in the treasured small town of Chester, half-way between New York and Boston – a little over two hours from each city and 45 minutes from New Haven and Hartford. The cottage features a wide porch, private front yard overlooking the river; a living room with a couch that pulls out to sleeps two comfortably, a dining area and kitchen at one end with a dishwasher. There's a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a good-sized bathroom with tub and shower. The house, on our four-acre property, is private and quiet and about two miles from the center of the village which is well-appointed with wonderful restaurants, a professional theater, galleries and one-of-a-kind shops. There is endless hiking and kayaking possibilities with a boat launch ramp adjacent to the property. Theater, music and a variety of activities and things to do are all close by. The cottage is $130 a night; $700 a week or $2000 a month. During January and February, 20209, the price is $110 a night; $660 a week and $1700 a month. We’d love to have you stay.
We live in a quiet, pretty exclusive neighborhood on a private road on the Connecticut River. The houses are quite far apart. The lively village of Chester is about two miles away where there is a theater, galleries, great restaurants, shops etc. All around is hiking and kayaking and boating as well as picturesque, colonial villages.
  • I almost hesitate in offering this review -- as I would rather Claudia's Unique, Fun Cottage be kept secret! Yet good, transcendent human achievements do not remain secret. Claudia's Cottage is the alchemy of Perfect spatial design, decoration, and fundamental amenities; every little and big thing have been considered, thought through, and tuned for guests' comfort and pleasure. Sunrise over the Connecticut River through the virtually floor-to-celing glass east wall is magnificent. The cottage is equipped with The Best of everything you might need for for any tenable wish or whim. The location is private, yet convenient to the delightful Chester Village a mellow mile or two south. The architecture -- it is not so small a structure as the photos might suggest -- lives up to a genius vision of setting, scale, and proportion. There is motion-sensitive lighting to illuminate your way returning after dark, parking with extravagant turnaround space, and responsive mechanicals (central heating, well-pressured hot and cold running water, inspired lighting, abundant electrical outlets). I (we — Katharine and I) have returned time after time to find subtle improvements to the overall space, yet the essential romantic charm prevails. Stay for the peace and tranquility, and for the diverse recreational and arts opportunities nearby. Leave with a refreshed spirit. Claudia's visionary Unique Fun Guest Cottage is a priceless experience. Bring your best and highest hopes and dreams.

  • Claudia‘s cottage on the river was amazing! The house was well stocked with any basics that you would need. It was a nice surprise to find videos, board games and books, along with lots of pamphlets of places to eat or things to do in the area. This is a place I would definitely return again in the future. I’m already thinking of returning to do a kayaking trip, with so many waterways available in the area. So overall, I would highly recommend staying at Claudia‘s cottage!!!

    Monica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot. Beautiful views of the river and off the beaten path. Host respected our privacy to the fullest which was much appreciated. Extremely safe and comfortable atmosphere.

  • Claudia’s place is right on the water with a great view. We enjoyed the wildlife, nearby Devil’s Hopyard and Gillette Castle, as well as the cozy and stylish space, with Netflix and high speed WiFi access, which we appreciated for evenings in. Was also great to be able to bring our dog, she loved the space. We would recommend.

Water Forest Retreat Tree House is a 168 sq ft. private heated and electrified tiny home with stained glass windows surrounding an oak tree nestled in 100 acres of forest. Enjoy your favorite drink out on the deck up in the trees while watching the birds. There are 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails with a brook, waterfall, marsh and pond. Come here to hike or just relax in this beautiful forest. We also have an OCTAGON. Please click on our profile picture to read more. Hiker's Haven coming soon!
Regarding the Corona virus, We are very diligent about cleaning all surfaces including door handles and light switches with Lysol. We also supply sanitizer wipes and hand sanitizer. Water Forest RetreatTree House is a great place to rejuvenate and enjoy all that Nature has to offer. Here you can hike, meditate, relax, read, write, mushroom hunt, fish, create art, music, photography, bird watch, cross country ski, snowshoe along with many other activities. The space, which is 168 ft.² or 15.6 m² has electricity, but not running water. Hand sanitizer is provided along with a wash basin or you can use the sink at the main house to wash your hands. Fresh soap is located in a container under the bed along with wash cloths and towels. Bottled water is provided or you can fill up a container at the shower as the well water is very good. The composting toilet is conveniently located in the tree house and is vented so there is no odor. Toilet paper is provided. There are directions on the bathroom wall on how to use it. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY so that it will function properly. The tree house has a locking door and six large windows with screens and shades for privacy. A key will be provided when you arrive. There are two stained glass transoms above the front windows and two more in the apexes. The space has a queen size bed with a comfy hybrid coil memory foam mattress. There are 400 thread count sheets with plenty of pillows and quilts along with a faux fur throw. Two bed side tables with Tiffany style lamps complement each side along with two tall white birch logs decorated with branches and fairy lights. Behind the bed side tables are USB ports with cords so you can charge your iPhone. Above the bed hangs a stained glass panel and a ceiling fan for your comfort on warm nights. There is also an electric fireplace for cold nights or you can just enjoy watching the flames without heat. On very cold nights we also supply a propane heater, though the electric fireplace is usually sufficient. There is a cabinet which stores some camping essentials such as a propane camp stove, dinnerware, cutlery, cutting board, sugar and sugar substitutes, spices, creamers, pots, pans, lighters, scissors, wine bottle and can opener, a mirror, extra light bulbs, mugs, dish drying cloth, umbrellas, first aid kit, paper towels, Lysol cleaner, flashlights, propane, insect repellent and a battery powered lantern. A Kuerig coffee machine is provided with assorted coffees, chai latte, tea, hot chocolate, and hot apple cider. There is also a turquoise inlaid wooden table with two chairs where you can dine, write, or use your computer and a small wall rack for hanging clothes. On top of the rack are two wine glasses. Under the bed there are an assortment of games. Two pottery mugs are provided which Nancy made. The mugs are for sale at 28.00 each. Atop the cabinet is a bowl of snacks and a book binder with more information, maps, menus, and directions. There are 2 1/2 miles of well maintained wood lined hiking trails with some that follow Goldmine brook to a waterfall that once hosted a grist mill back in the 1700's. You can still see the large stone foundations. Along the trails you will see many of the iconic stone walls that are unique to New England. Maps are provided in the book binder and trail markers are posted along the way. There are many benches and chairs along the trail where you can sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. While hiking the trails walking poles or sticks are suggested as the terrain is hilly with some stone steps and steep areas. Two walking sticks hang on the wall in the tree house. Because of the terrain hiking boots are strongly recommended. Due to the nature of the trails no ATV, dirt or mountain biking is allowed. These are hiking trails only. We ask that you please respect the private sign as this trail leads to the Octagon where guests may be staying. There is a good distance between the buildings so you will not be able to see each other even in winter. We wanted to make each site secluded and private. While hiking, please stay on our side of the brook as the opposite side is owned by our neighbor. It is a five minute walk to the spring fed pond which is part of Goldmine brook. The brook is rated class A and supports a myriad of wildlife including river otters, mink and great blue herons. If you like to fish bring your gear to try for pickerel, large and small mouth bass, white and yellow perch, shiners and native trout. Previous guests have had great luck fly fishing here. Since the pond is small, we ask that you please practice catch and release. If you are looking for a place to swim, canoe or kayak visit Gardner Lake state park in Salem which is only 15 minutes away. ( you will have to supply your own canoe or kayaks) Depending on water flow, you can also take a dip right here in the small pool below the Goldmine brook waterfall which is a 20-25 minute walk down the trail. Looking for some ocean fun? Bluff Point state park in Groton is another good choice. Here they have a beach along with hiking trails. Bluff Point is about 24 minutes away. Both places are free of charge. Please check out our guide book on Airbnb by clicking our profile picture for more things to do in the area. The outdoor living area is conveniently layered with crushed stone. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit and meals either outdoors or in. On the deck there are two chairs and a mosaic glass table for outdoor dining along with a propane grill and a Mayan style hammock that seats two people. At ground level there is a fire pit with additional tables and chairs along with tiki torches for extra light and ambiance. Seasoned wood is available for 5 dollars a box or you can bring your own. You can also use any of the wood on the forest floor as long as it is not being used to mark the trails. There is a Walmart and Big Y one mile away where you can buy food, drinks, ice and other supplies. Looking for a liquor store? Bozrah Wine and Spirits is one mile one the right heading west on route 82. Since there is no refrigerator you will need to bring your own cooler or you can borrow ours. If you do not wish to cook there are many good restaurants close by. We provide a few menus in the book binder for you to look through. Some restaurants even make deliveries or you can use a delivery app. such as door dash.com Enjoy a hot private outdoor shower down at the main house. The distance to the shower is about a one minute walk. The shower is private while you are using it , but is shared with guests staying in the octagon. Plush towels, washcloths and soap are stored under the bed in a container. Shampoo and conditioner are at the shower. There is a sink here where you can wash your dishes. Under the bed there is a black plastic container to use for dirty dishes. Dish soap and scrubber are provided at the sink. There is a dish drying cloth in the cabinet back at the tree house. Due to freezing temperatures, the shower and sink are not available in winter. A wash basin is provided for sponge bathing. Simply use the coffee machine or camp stove to make hot water. Guests staying two nights or more during this season are more than welcome to use the inside shower up at the main house. In winter we will take care of washing the dishes. Because of the distance, Wifi is not available in the tree house, but is available in the parking area and pottery studio which is a walking distance of about 300 feet. If your device is supported by an Internet provider you will be able to get online. For the nature enthusiast, take part in a guided nature walk where Nancy will discuss the history, plants, animals, geology and mushrooms found in the area. The walk costs 10 dollars per person and lasts about an hour and a half. We usually cover 2 miles and may go off trail. You might want to bring something to drink, a snack, and your camera. BEFORE YOU BOOK, please keep in mind that this is a fancy form of camping (glamping!) that is semi off grid ( no running water in the Treehouse) with all that camping entails including insects, animals, sudden weather changes, rocky paths and hilly terrain. It is a one minute walk from the parking lot to the tree house and shower. You may get to hear our resident barred owls, red fox, eastern coyotes or possibly come across a white tailed deer while hiking the trails. The distance from the parking area to the tree house is about 300 feet with 170 feet of that being in the forest. Since the tree house is small please pack appropriately. We will be more be more than happy to help you with your luggage. Smoking is not allowed inside the tree house, but is allowed outside of it. For people staying two nights or more I will leave you a check in text to see how you’re doing. Bert and I will do everything we can to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Please feel free to contact us at anytime during your stay if you need anything. We look forward to hosting you!
We live at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet residential community that Nancy's father and grandfather built in the late 1950's. The tree house is nestled on 100 acres of forest with a brook running along one side of the property.
  • This treehouse Retreat went above and beyond our expectations it's literally everything you need for peace and serenity. It's extremely quiet there and it's extremely clean. The hosts are amazing and very very friendly and want you to have the best experience and peace but are available if you need them.. The History behind the place is great Nancy has actually done all of the decor and the trails and everything all by herself she is so talented. The trails are great and Nancy made walking sticks for the guests and a trail map is provided. There's also fishing. The bed and the pillows are extremely comfortable and the tree house is well-insulated so it's warm but they do have an electric fireplace and ceiling fan. There is a barbecue for your use and also a fire pit and five tiki torches, a table and chairs near your fire pit but there's also a table and chairs on the deck and also a Hammock and all cooking supplies available. I can't say enough.. We also got a sneak peek at the newest edition being made by the water. So far it's gorgeous and we have already booked another trip to come back in April..

  • Nancy & Bert are wonderful hosts! Their treehouse was far beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived on their property we felt welcomed and at peace. The trails on their land are some of the best trails I’ve ever hiked. We felt like we were in narnia whole exploring the forest. I will absolutely be back to stay again!

    Casey2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, wonderful communication (lots of texts) The treehouse is beautiful and private even in the winter with no leaves on the trees. It was nice and warm too. Nancy is very talented and the handmade decor details are amazing.

    Leslie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The property is absolutely incredible for many different reasons. The fact that the brook and the trails are footsteps away while also maintaining unmatched privacy is truly spectacular. We stayed in the tree house and loved our stay, we will definitely try to come back to relive the relaxation and comfort that we experience staying here. Bert and Nancy were wonderful with communication and with any questions that we had, as well as making sure we had everything we needed. Which we did thanks to them.

    Camille2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The tree house is an absolute treasure in Connecticut. Nancy and Bert made this place home and it shows in every single detail. The tree house itself was beautiful and well designed and well kept. And the trails......are equally as beautiful. No description will give this place the credit it truly deserves. You have to see it with your own two eyes and experience it as a whole. We'll be back in the Summer.

  • Nina was an excellent host with a very nice space. The playpark is close and the beach is very beautiful. The community is friendly and her home is spacious enough and brite. I will be lucky to stay there again soon.

  • This is a nice space and the beaches and bay nearby, which are a short 15-minute walk, are absolutely beautiful.

    Jill2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great value, clean & spacious. There is a nice-sized living room area and full kitchen set up like a studio apartment. Plenty of space to sit. Nice little corner dining table setup. Good wifi & TV. Kitchen has full-sized fridge and plenty of cabinets & countertops. Restroom was clean. Bedroom is small but big enough for the purpose (getting a good sleep). Bed was very comfortable. The room has it's own AC which could be set to whatever temp was desired. The area is super quiet. Driveway parking gets the car well off the road. Nina was quickly responsive to any communications and has this AirBnB process down. Comparable area hotels would have cost $80-$200 more for the same stay. I hope to stay there again the next time I'm visiting the area.

    Darryl2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nina was very timely with responses to my messages. The area was peaceful. Her place was very clean and well-kept. I look forward to staying at Nina's place again!

  • An amazing experience for me and my kids! So welcoming and hospitable, gave my little ones some snacks from the garden and breakfast made for us in the morning really made us feel simultaneously at home and on vacation. We really enjoyed breakfast while watching the birds at the feeders from the sunroom! Close enough to anything you may need and to a few really nice beaches. I can’t recommend this place more highly!
