  • Debbie and Rod were very welcoming upon our arrival. The cottage was spacious, extremely homely and had wonderful views and interactions with cattle and horses. Location was amazing with lots to see and do. 10/10 would recommend and hope to stay again!

  • Running creek farm is a beautiful property! We had four toddlers with us and they had the time of their lives! The house is a lovely farm house and we felt instantly at home, the owners went above and beyond.. even bringing the tractor over for our children. We will definatley be returning next year 😁

  • If you don't like a peaceful, secluded holiday in a perfect corner of Australia then this spot is unfortunately not for you. Our family immensely enjoyed a seven night stay over Christmas and absolutely loved the peaceful country surroundings. Running Creek, is surprisingly a very literal name as the creek was still flowing when most creeks in Australia were dry. The creek produced the one Bass (we released it back to the wild) and a platypus sighting for the family. The amenities were spot on and the house has been tastefully renovated on the inside. The train line through the property had our excited family running to the backdoor each time an occasional loco eased past for a wave. Down to earth owners Debbie and Rod went to great lengths to make our stay special and the Christmas decorations were above and beyond expectations. Tops stay.

    Scott2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little getaway, kids were occupied the whole time. We went on walks around the property to explore and found a tunnel under the train tracks, found the horses and fed them the carrots provided. The fire pit kept us warm under the stars. To top it off we got to feed some of the calves then saw the swimming spot and got to have turns on the kayak. 10/10 recommended from the whole family.

    Joalla2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at your place. It was a lovely holiday for us, kids enjoyed their freedom to run around the field and kayaking in the creek, feeding the horses and creeping around the cows. The cottage was great size, clean and very homey. Host were super friendly & welcoming and very thoughtful for providing all amenities. Thank you again for everything. Hope to visit you again.

    Susama2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage sits between two spectacular mountain ranges. I never tired of gazing at them. With no neighbours in sight or earshot you can truly unwind in Debbie’s comfortable and well appointed cabin. I will be back for sure.

Darlington Grove is a unique one bedroom farm stay experience located in the heart of the Scenic Rim, Lost World Valley. You will be staying in what used to be a functioning milking Dairy Shed. Think of your stay as cottage farm stay meets glamping! The Dairy has been fully renovated and features a beautifully decorated bedroom which has amazing mountain views, an open air kitchen, cottage garden and a rustic but comfortable, detached shower and toilet.
The Dairy is situated on a 100 acre hobby farm that has animals (sheep, chickens, ducks, horses, pigs and cows) an olive grove of 250 trees, and the Albert River flowing through it.
Our farm is located in a prime position to access many of the festivities of the Scenic Rim Food and Wine Festival. The actual street it is located on has several properties involved with the scenic rim food and wine festival. In the area there is also an awesome cooking school, bush walks, hidden water holes, and we are a short and scenic drive from a couple of local cafes that sell local produce from the area. The owners Kate and Sam can fill you in on all the secret and not so secret attractions they have found in the area!!!
  • If you are looking for a tranquil place to just chill, there is no other place than here. Away from the hustle and bustle of city and life itself, this place is the epitome of zen. Book it today!

    Siti2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sam & Kate's place is amazing! There is so much to explore and do at the farm, the views from the place are amazing and the walks are endless. Our favourite part was the animals, getting to feed them and pat them! There is lots to do on the farm and nearby too so there was never a dull moment. Feels very homey and we were so sad to leave! Thanks again guys :)

  • Really enjoyed my stay here. A picturesque space with lovely personal touches. Gorgeous.

    Rebecca2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • I must admit, when we read there was no internet in the car on the way there, we were a little hesitant 😂 but it was the most incredible thing. Our little boy loved the open spaces, we fed the farm animals, played in the rain, explored the bush, ate in the big open aired kitchen and generally just had a blast. Wonderful hospitality and so nice to escape the city.

    Taleah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say except that we will be back for sure! The location is just beautiful along with the actual farm and accommodation. The styling of the bedroom is very welcoming and warm and then the kitchen/chill area is set up beautifully! The kids loved the chores of feeding the animals and letting them out in the morning and especially loved the tree house! With 100acres to play with we went 4x4 explored up the mountains, it was fantastic with an incredible view from the top! We would 100% recommend Darlington Grove! One tip though, do a big food shop in Beaudesert as the closest shops are about 30mins away

    Jenni2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sam and Kate's farm is just wonderful. A super cosy place with a great crowd of friendly animals around! Can highly recommend! Sam and Kate are exceptional hosts also. They will make sure you have a great time!

  • My five year old son and I were fortunate enough to be the very first guests to stay at this beautiful farm. Everything exceeded our expectations. My little guy fully immersed himself into farm life and thoroughly enjoyed feeding the animals, letting the chickens out of a morning and collecting their eggs,The tree house was his favourite! The decor feels like it’s straight out of country life magazine. The bed is super comfortable with luxurious Sheridan sheets. We cooked our meals in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed them on the vintage tractor stools. We are now feeling very blissed out and grateful.

  • An absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable little cottage, with beautiful scenery all around (even with the drought). Felt very lucky to have a personal tour of the property in the buggy! Outstanding hospitality - we felt very welcome. And was great fun meeting the dogs! Thanks again :)

    Jeremy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • All was perfect: the beautiful house, the location in that lost e wonderful world, surrounded by animals and by the sounds of the nature, the creek, the atmosphere of peace and relax. Claire and her husband were fantastic and helped us in everything, with suggestions and they also shew us their big property driving us around with their little cuddy. We'd like to come back as soon as possible to escape from the city. Ps we loved their cute dogs and we played a lot with them

    Valentina2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage has all you need as well as being super cute . Claire had all the supplies ready for an outdoor fire so we cooked dinner and ate near the charming old dairy . Bed was amazingly comfy . Chocolates and bubbles a lovely surprise. We headed off bright and early to Mt Barney National Park after a blissfully peaceful evening. Highly recommended!

    Tracy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to visit. The creek is simply beautiful and holds such wonderful memories.

    Jamie2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • A truely fantastic night away. Being around a fire charges your batteries better than anything else. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. So cosy, and the scenery around was brilliant. We will be back!

    Andrew2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cosy cottage, perfect for a weekend getaway. We arrived later than expected and our host Claire had already started a fire in the fire pit out the back. We sat around and drank wine while the sun set, then retreated to the cutest and cosiest little wooden cottage for the evening. A pack of cards in the top drawer kept us entertained for the night. Would love to go back :)

    Katie2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous property! We were greeted by a blue heeler who entertained us (briefly) while the owners were tending to their cattle. Very stunning sunset on a peaceful, beautiful place of South-east Queensland. The hut was spotlessly clean with a super comfy bed and great quality linen. We enjoyed some time by the fire (take some marshmallows) and red wine. A fabulous night’s sleep. Friendly, accommodating hosts. Highly recommend a stay here if you want to escape the rat race.

A private, rustic-modern, detached guest studio located on our working farm, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Undercover adjacent guest parking. Pool available in Spring/Summer.

Modern reverse cycle air-conditioning in the studio, or the option of two cast iron fire pits for fine outdoor evenings (depending on which view you prefer.) Sofa lounge. Bluetooth JBL all-weather speakers and a large-screen HD smart TV. (Guests need to provide there own digital devices and media to connect to these however.) Good TV reception. There is no guest Wi-Fi sorry, but there is good network coverage for mobile phones. Fully lockable rooms with outdoor sensor lighting. Filtered rainwater, gas hot-water, solar power and modern eco-friendly composting toilet. (Shower and toilet rooms are separate adjoining rooms to the studio.) No children or pets please. There are high cliffs and deep creeks nearby. Tractors and farm implements aren't great playground equipment. Large animals may be in the adjacent paddocks. There are many good coffee shops and restaurants throughout the Valley, but a short (though scenic) drive is necessary to visit them.

  • Just an absolutely amazing stay. The house is beautifully thought out and extremely comfortable. The verandah (and view) will make you gasp and then melt into relaxation. Wonderful personal touches, incredibly friendly hosts, and a great area to explore. Even in this massive drought we found a rainforest walk nearby and swimming holes. Although only one room has AC, days of 36C+ still brought nights of ~21C, making it very comfortable for sleeping. I could go on about every detail but just have a read of the other reviews and you’ll get an idea of how special this farmstay is. No there isn’t WiFi... but trust me, it’ll make your stay much better!

  • A beautiful country home where there is every opportunity to rest, relax and recoup which is exactly what we did. The house is perfectly clean and a very enjoyable space.

    Theresa2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This property is beautiful - clean, well styled and excellently maintained with scenic views. The gardens are lovely and our 3 year old son loved exploring outside and spotting wallabies and other wildlife. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the valley. The walking tracks are great and we enjoyed a picnic up the top of the hill behind the house. Claire and Rod were very hospitable, they explained where we could go for a swim - a short drive from the house on their property. We enjoyed having no phone or internet reception but if you really need to make a call, it is only a short drive to come back into range for Telstra. There is only one air conditioner in the main bedroom but it was nice and cool when we stayed in December so we only had to use it one night. We loved our stay and will definitely come back.

    Stephanie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we've stayed at Claire and Rod's place. We just love it. A group of us like to get out of town and enjoy the peace and quiet of the homestead. It's literally the quietest place I've been in a long time, it's a great place to relax, comfortable places to chill out, even with a group of you there feels like so much space. We love sitting on the verandah and looking at the fabulous view. There's also lovely family of wallabies that hang around in the garden. We love it and can't wait to come back. Thanks for your hospitality Claire and Rod

We so enjoyed getting off the grid with no internet reception. Such a rare and welcome break from fast paced life! Thank you for making your home so wonderful and sharing it on AirBnB. We would love to visit again!

Springbrook is the next mountain east of Beechmont and has a number of walks to choose from including Purlingbrook Falls and the short walk to Best of All Lookout, which is 1000m above sea level. Dave Groom Studio Gallery. All of the artwork in the Cottage is by your host, local landscape artist, Dave Groom. Adjacent to Ridge Cottage is the Dave Groom Studio Gallery, which is open to the public. The Gallery is generally open between 10am – 4pm. There will be a sign on the wall at the end of the Gallery telling you whether it is open. Please feel free to visit during opening hours, or contact Dave to arrange a time to visit.
The unique feature of the Ridge Cottage is its private location on the edge of Lamington National Park. Back down the road is the rural settlement of Beechmont, once a large dairy farming community, it is now a scenic landscape of varied farmland. While there are no shops on Beechmont there is a cafe at the Old School sight, as well as the Flying Bean Cafe at Rosins Lookout. This is also a popular hangliding launch sight and a spectacular spot for views into Numinbah Valley and over the border into NSW towards the ancient extinct shield volcano, Wollumbin.
  • This is the second time we have stayed here. Love this place. It is rustic and charming, and the location is beautiful. Absolutely wonderful for a few days escape from the world.

  • Dave's cottage is really the perfect getaway. Beautiful location, isolated but not lost, comfortable, great views, privacy...all the ingredients for a memorable weekend. Dave is a great host, here at check in and check out and in between if needed. The bottle of pinot noir was a much appreciated touch!

  • My partner and I celebrated Valentine’s Day at this magical and enchanting self-built cottage. The privacy of the cottage promotes a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. We enjoyed a massage - recommended by Dave (Bliss Massage Beechmont) - in front of the fire place while the rain teemed down! Pack your slippers and warm clothes because you won’t want to leave The Ridge Cottage!!

  • An absolutely fantastic Airbnb. Dave was extremely welcoming. The cottage was perfect for a few days away to escape the city. Amazing views, clean, cosy, with thoughtful touches. We’ll be back for sure! Thanks Dave!!

  • This little cottage exceeded the already stellar expectations we had for our stay. The only thing we didn’t like about our time here was that it simply wasn’t long enough! The Dutch have a word, with no literal English translation, for places like this: gezellig. It roughly describes a place or social situation that is warm, convivial, and cozy. The Woodstock cottage is all of these and so much more. It is the perfect place to detach from the world and be at peace with nature for a few days. Make sure to visit the nearby town of Tyalgum as well and don’t take any moment of your visit for granted.

  • The owner is a descendant of German immigrants, simple and reasonable. The house was less than ten meters by the side of the fork. The owner was worried about the guests' inconvenience and specially came to help carry luggage.

    Danielle2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is very hospitable and friendly, together with her husband they have so many interesting hobbies from growing plants, paintings, tea towels, boulder rocks just to name a few! Be sure to ask them about it. The cottage is clean and cute, and very private, no neighbours and the hosts leave you to your self to relax. The surroundings are spectacular! With mountains surrounding you at every turn. The little creek to swim in is divine and the cows next door are cute. It was a relaxing stay and I definitely will come back!

  • Quiet.. if the Australian country bush ever is. Bird song, cicadas, cows bellowing in the fields around. The cottage has everything you could possibly need for an extended stay. The hosts are amazingly welcoming. Ask about the incredible artwork, tea towels, thunder eggs etc. that these two busy people have as part of their lives. And the property plantings and working nursery are just extraordinary. Well worth a visit and we are looking forward to making time for a revisit.

I love nature (outside) so be reassured this home is fully screened so no creepy crawlies ....Winter days and nights are cosy with reverse cycle or gas heating and for slight humidity the dry cycle on the air con works wonders ,or just select the coolness cycle and leave on. Overnights tend to be quite cool all year round.

This sweet and elevated workman's cottage, set on a disused farm, is utterly charming and cosy. It's a particularly convenient location if you're looking to venture out into the Border Ranges National park with its vast views and numerous, magical walking tracks. The cottage itself is pretty basic. Perfect for those whom appreciate good old rustic charm, or those looking for a country escape.
As you will be able to tell by the photos, the space is very rustic yet charming. It's definitely a space free of 'bells & whistles', concentrating more on the basics, done well. Just like us it has some bumps and bruises but we love it for that. Please be aware that mobile phone reception is non existent. Say your goodbyes from about 20 minutes away. You can keep in touch with the outside world via the internet (iPhone and messenger etc). However! The big house just at the top of the drive approx. 80m away) does have a landline for emergencies. There is a small television and DVD player (with lots of DVDs to choose from), however, there is no actual TV reception here. There is an HDMI socket at the back of the TV if you'd like to link up your computer to stream via the internet. Please be aware that the internet connection isn't super fast so it can glitch a bit. If the weather is bad, the internet is even more glitchy, so chuck on a dvd and forget about the world! Fire flies!!!! Magical little critters they are!! I've seen them here. Just not all the time. Very mesmerising to watch if you get lucky enough! I've been sure to include the following items as they are must haves: Coffee, Tea, Sugar Mustard & Tomato Sauce Olive Oil Wine vinegar Balsamic Vinegar Salt & Pepper
If you're wanting to see what the Border Ranges National Park has to offer there are plenty of hits on the internet. From peoples drone videos on youtube, to the more thorough 'to do' info via the national parks NSW website. In terms of what is available in the area, there is a sweet little general store in the nearby town of Wiangaree (which is where you turn off the highway). This is approx. 10 minutes away. They have the basics there, bread, milk, beer etc. Nothing fancy. Just the basics. Run by lovely locals. The next nearest town is Kyogle which has a supermarket with all your provisioning needs, again, nothing fancy.
  • We loved it! Definitely better than the pictures. The cottage is awesome, and time stood still while we were there. Plenty to see in the immediate area. Recommended, particularly for animal lovers!

    Jarran2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the cottage exceeded our hopes for a moment away to rest and restore with my partner and I and our pup. We stayed for just under a week in perfect serenity. Quiet and still in beautiful nature, with plenty of places to explore by car or foot nearby. The cottage is full of complimentary essentials making us feel very much at home here. Bring just enough grocery produce to make your time comfortable here as after you arrive you won’t want to leave to the next towns for anything. Cottage is cosy but spacious. Location is quiet but alive. Vibe is soft but feels oh so good. Thank you Jessica to hold this space for all of us! Be back again soon.

    Darcy2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, rustic accommodation close to the Border Ranges National Park. We enjoyed meeting the owner of the property.

    Christine2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little rustic getaway right outside the scenic Border Ranges. Lovely view and we enjoyed exploring the property. The owner Chang was kind enough to give us a tour of a couple walking tracks nearby. Definitely stock up on food in Kyogle beforehand as there’s really nothing healthy at the local shop. • Very picturesque! A great place to unwind and get back to basics. Loved the hot water shower. It really felt like 5 x star camping. Michelle is so lovely and super helpful. Really enjoyed having a wine on the deck overlooking the creek and watching the sun go down over the mountains. Also loved that it’s dog friendly too. Will be back. :)

  • Beautiful getaway spot. Super private and very comfortable bed.

    Laknuwan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • I have nothing bad to say about the charming little hut. The nature around the property is beautiful and there are great views right from the deck. The compostable toilet is kept very clean. The battery powered fairy lights and lamp in the hut give ample light for reading and playing cards. It’s so nice to say somewhere a little more remote and with no power, it really helps you disconnect. Cheers, Hannah

Sue is truly the super host. We really enjoyed our farm visit led by Sue. It was a wonderful experience. Given opportunity, we would love to stay at Kirro again.

Falling asleep on a very good bed to the sounds of the night, then waking up to the first rays of sunlight and enjoy breakfast with view on the lake and coast. It’s a ‘shame’ it wasn’t colder during our stay, then we would definitely have tried the stove!

The place itself is immaculate, and a lot bigger then it looks in the photos. We had many beautiful areas to sit in and enjoy the rain, and a huge garden to explore when it wasn’t raining. Alfie was also an added bonus. Thank you so much Kym, we will be back.

  • We had an amazing stay with my partner in the cottage, it absolutely exceeded our expectations. It’s in an amazing location just a short drive from some beautiful waterfalls and national park walks. We were greeted by the friendliest and amazingly trained border collie dog on arrival who was always up to hang around if you wanted some extra company! The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and very worth the price in amazing condition with lots of gorgeous big plants and beautiful decorations. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you’d need for a feast and greeted with some beautiful treats upon arrival. Kym and her partner were very friendly and helpful but we had privacy the whole time. There was also a jacuzzi beside the side which was a great surprise. Beautiful scenery all around the cottage and very private. Took lots of photos around the property it was all picturesque. Had an amazing time and would highly recommend!

  • Kym's property is beautiful and an amazing place for a weekend getaway. Everything was so well thought of, the little bag of toiletries, a well stocked kitchen, first aid kit, the extra towels, the books and games and the welcome treats were super yummy! We did have a bit of a fire scare but that was only down at lower Beechmont and Kym assured us we had nothing to worry about. The weather was very pleasant during our stay as well. Overall it's a great place to chill out at and reset before you get back to your hectic life. Thanks Kym!

There were so many thoughtful touches such as homemade goods, books and magazines to read, tea, coffee, milk, shower gel etc. I particularly loved waking up to hearing all the birds outside and the fresh country air. The bed was super comfy which was a big plus. Highly reccomended to everyone looking for a quick get away from the city!

The outdoor bathroom had a gorgeous view of the green paddocks and huge mango tree and the walk around the property was also beautiful especially for our Pup Hugo who loved the space to run around. Chloe the dog was also a lovely friendly dog for our dog Hugo to play with. Her little surprise visits to say hello at the door were extra special. It was a short drive to local suburb Uki as well as Nimbin for coffee and eats. Thank - you Tomo & Rico, we will be back again one day!

  • We had a lovely stay at the Bush House. The space is tastefully decorated farmhouse chic. Sue had everything we needed for cooking full meals, and snuggling down in front of the lovely fire. The steady rains did not deter us from enjoying the area and we slept well in the comfy beds. The clothes dryer was a real bonus due to the damp. Thanks, Sue!

  • The cabin is discreetly tucked away in natural rainforest. The interior is warm and welcoming with a cosy fireplace. Large windows let in warm light and magnificent views of the ancient surrounding trees. The babbling creek is a soothing soundtrack to fall asleep to. It is truly a place of serenity and reflection, firmly pushing the daily grind to the background. The thoughtful touches of coffee and flowers completed a very lush experience, we were so sad to leave. Highly recommended, and thank you!

  • Lovely cosy cottage in the middle of the rainforest with all the amenities you need. Great experience with Log fires, feeding parakeets on the back porch every morning and lots of breathtaking walks/views on the mountain. Springbrook is delightfully off the beaten track and a great retreat. Take groceries and don’t expect wifi! And eyepatches and earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. All in all, fabulous.

This house sits on elevated slope facing west with lovely views across farming paddocks to the mountains from the expansive decking. Views from inside the house admire the same view. Timber floors with carpet in bedroom, modern functional gas and electric kitchen. Two toilets and two showers, no bath. Satelite tv.
Winter temperatures in the morning drop below zero but gas heating inside the fully insulated home and wood fire on the decking make for cosy and serene surroundings. With tall hedging surrounding a well maintained level grassed area affording you the opportunity to soak in the sun even on windy days, and/or lay back and watch the unpoluted night sky spin past.
Very small village of 10 houses, 1 cafe, 1 phone box, Historic school of arts community hall, rural fire brigade. Walk across the road and soak in the Nerang river. Bush walking in the Numinbah forest reserve. • We stayed here for one night and experienced the living environment of the Australian countryside. The ecology is very good. The ones that move outside at night are the bigger ones. Although there is no air conditioner, it can open the doors and windows to ventilate, without mosquitoes. We live here, mainly to play on the Natural Bridge. When I went there at 5 o'clock last night, they were all free tourists from the East. When I went this morning, they were all Westerners. Hehe, only the tour group that collects money is blind. This is a good place and highly recommended.

  • Excellent stay. We loved the great deck area. Very good location for access to Natural Bridge and the glow worm cave. We are looking forward to visiting again in winter to use the fireplace.

  • Jean and Adam were wonderful hosts. Both of them took time out to show me the place, see if everything was going well with my stay. They were both genuinely lovely people. I would never have known about the amazing swimming hole nor the waterfall trail if they hadn't told me. Both of which I really, really enjoyed. The kitchen was super well equipped - blender, lemon juicer, rolling pin used as a pestal to crush black peppercorns. Very impressed. The luxurious island was fun to cook around, on, with. Also there was a really warm, cozy feeling to the entire cabin that was unanticipated. The photos don't quite show that so I was pleasantly surprized. I could have stayed A LOT longer. A perfect place to retreat from the world - the insanity of TV, the internet and people. Thank you Jean and Adam for creating such a serene and lovely guest house to compliment the serenity of the outdoor surroundings.

    Angela2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wow!! This beautiful private place was just amazing - and Jean & Adam were so friendly and hospitable - we felt so relaxed and welcome as soon as we arrived. We wanted to ‘switch off’ from our busy lives for a couple of days - with our dog - and I couldn’t believe how fitting this place was! The gentle sound and sight of the crystal clear flowing creek made me smile when I arrived - I didn’t realise how close it was to the back balcony - gorgeous. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the balcony, going for walks & visiting the creek. Jean and Adam’s personal touches (eg fresh eggs from their chooks) made this little cottage very comfortable and homely. I would highly recommend this place - beautiful scenery, awesome hosts and such a gorgeous little home to stay in.

  • We had a beautiful stay with our little puppy. Adam and Jean were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The place was lovely, and the creek and yard was beautiful. Thank you for having us. We can’t wait to return for another escape.

  • A great place to unwind, relax and enjoy the surrounding Gondwana rainforests.

    Will2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the calm and tranquility of this place. It was so relaxing and I felt immediately cut off from the world and enjoyed the lack of distractions from wifi and iPhones. We spent the days out visiting the regions and the evenings bbqing and enjoying a glass of wine to the noise of the bird life and cicadas. Great place to check out and do some writing or studying. Will return xx

    Kate2020-01-28T00:00:00Z

A private rainforest retreat in the heart of Australia's birding paradise. O'Reilly in the Scenic Rim of the Gold Coast Hinterland is known for its bush walking trails, history & exotic birdlife. We're able to offer our newly renovated space for an off-grid forest experience. No neighbours, a peg in the ground separates our boundary & thousands of acres of rainforest. Acquired from the O'Reilly's 35 yrs ago the previous owner lovingly established the hideaway we've now bought & renovated.
Relax with beautiful birdlife in our 1.7 acre private property or take the 6 km drive to O'Reilly's Lodge. Its history is fascinating and there you will find a cafe with stunning views, the Tree Top Walk and numerous bush walks that the Hinterland is renowned for. On the way you pass the 4x4 track, Duck Creek Road. Sundowners and a meal are a personal favourite from the upstairs pub at O'Reilly's Lodge. The 35 minute drive from the historic Canungra Township is one of the most unique in Australia. You'll pass the O'Reillys and Sarabah vineyards then the bitumen road winds up through Aussie scrub and magnificent views until it enters the rainforest. Please be alert as kangaroo and wallaby abound. Black cockatoo and Pale Rosella can sometimes be seen on the trip up. With rainwater tanks and solar power this off-grid experience is really educational in a society where these essentials are taken for granted.
  • We thoroughly recommend this cottage as a perfect place to relax and unwind with close proximity to Lamington National Park & O’Reilly’s. We loved waking up to all the bird life and our morning visit from the pademelon with her little one safe and sound in the pouch. The cottage had everything we needed for a weekend away.

    Sean2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely awesome. If you love wildlife, birds in particular, you are in for a treat! So many different species of birds visit Andrew’s place, more than I’ve seen anywhere. The cottage is cute, cosy and has all that is needed to make your stay comfortable. The trip into O’Reillys only takes about 10 minutes which isn’t too bad. It’s a good way to enjoy Lamington National Park without the exuberant pricing. Andrew is a super host. I’ll be back that’s for sure!!

    Tracy2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's place is a beautiful house tucked away up in the mountain where you can escape the hustle and bustle off the grid and just relax. We had two under 2years and they had a great time and enjoyed the playground. There were so many birds and other wildlife around. Andrew was very friendly and responsive. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home!

This is a truely lovely spot with beautiful gardens, gorgeous wildlife (especially the Koala), and a massive swimming pool! The accommodation was so comfortable with everything you could need and more (including air conditioning) . Lynette provided us with a fantastic breakfast selection and a home baked cake, only wish we stayed longer to enjoy all of the food. I will be recommending River Run to everyone. A huge thank you to Lynette and Colin for their warm and welcoming hospitality. 5 stars in every way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We enjoyed collecting the chicken’s eggs and feeding the turkeys, peacocks and guinea fowl too. Even spotted the resident koalas. Our hosts were extremely hospitable and the pool was fantastic. We will definitely come back again. Very peaceful and relaxed stay - thanks!

The facilities are superb with amazing gardens, rainforest area, bbq area and the pool. Many places to sit and relax - one of my favourites was the bird hideout. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. The accomodation was very nice with everything provided for a great stay. Breakfast provisions were plentiful and varied and it was so nice to be welcomed with Lynette’s home made slice - one of Lynette’s many beautiful touches. Thank you so much lynnette and Colin for sharing your piece of paradise ! I would highly recommended Rivers Run to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing place to stay or as a base for seeing the Scenic Rim.

    Mahalia2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Chalet for only one night and are already planning to head back! We had the best time and were constantly amazed by the facilities provided for the guests! It was like living in a fairy tale in the middle of a stunning forest. The room was much beyond our expectation. We didn't realise that each room had its own Jacuzzi inside and were so fascinated by the fire place (which was so easy to start!). Would definitely suggest staying here for any occasion (for 2-3 nights so you could enjoy the hikes in Springbrook as well as the Chalets- because we didn't even want to leave our Chalet once we got there)!

  • I loved returning to the Mouses Houses after 17 years. The cottages deep in the rain forest we're just as I remembered, but with the terrific addition of modern technology and new bathrooms and kitchen. A magical experience!

Come and Retreat yourself in nature. This cabin is fully self contained. It has a spacious dreamlike king sized bedroom. Set on the foothills of the Gold Coast Hinterland, this amazing retreat is just 8 minutes to shops, cinemas & restaurants, 15 minutes to the beach. A perfect getaway!
Nestled on 2.5 acres in the valley of Mudgeeraba, you will have glorious glimpses of the subtropical rainforest and Springbrook Mountain. The retreat cabin has a luxurious hand crafted king size bed in a spacious bedroom full of natural light and large windows to awaken you to the magical mornings of nature. Enjoy a captivating rustic lounge and dining room finished in hardwood floor. There is a sofa that can be converted into a double bed for the extra guests. Meal facilities are in an open undercover area, complete with hotplate, microwave & fridge. You can even stay outdoors and enjoy your meal but if you prefer to dine inside there is a spacious rustic dinner table made of recycled timber from some of the first houses built in Sunnybank! You get your very own verandah where you can relax, greet the native birds, or by night spot a falling star! The heated outdoor shower and bath overlook onto the private garden, it also contains a separate toilet. How amazing is it to bathe secluded by foliage on a hot summer's day!
Mudgeeraba is a pretty little village, with local cafés, bakeries and shops. It has every thing you need at hand. Every Saturday morning enjoy our Farmer's Markets with local produce. Mudgeeraba is close to diverse attractions like Springbrook rainforest, unspoilt bush provides a popular destination for bush walking, picnicking, and exploring waterfalls and swimming holes. With the best of both worlds it is also close to the fun filled theme parks and white sandy beaches of Surfers Paradise.
  • Catarina and Jose’s home is located in a very quiet private location and beautifully presented. A very relaxing and peaceful home. Much more than we could have hoped for. Throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to anyone wanting to visit the Gold Coast and experience the beauty of the hinterland or those just looking for a relaxing weekend end break.

  • A lovely, relaxing getaway from the big smoke! I loved waking up to the sounds of birds, and the view of trees out of the large bedroom windows. The outdoor bath was definitely a favourite. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

  • This is the perfect spot for a getaway vacation - surrounded by Bush land and the outdoor kitchen and bathroom were just beautiful! Can’t recommend this place enough :)

  • Definitely recommend staying here, a great few away in tropical surroundings. The place was clean and gorgeous, Catarina was very kind and helpful. It was beautiful.

  • This cabin makes you feel like you’re so far from the city. The outdoor bathroom was my favourite part and I also loved how private it was. It was so nice to wake up with the natural light in the morning and see rainforest through the huge windows in the bedroom. Would highly recommend this spot- so lovely and tranquil. The only thing not mentioned on the listing was that the driveway is really narrow and steep.

  • Very clean and rustic set up Relaxing quiet time - exactly what we needed The outdoor showers were refreshing!! Gerixx

  • The only thing negative was we didnt book enough time here to maximise the beauty of this place. We loved the the outdoor bath and shower, our toddler found them quite the novelty too! I personally enjoyed showering looking up at the foliage and skies. The fairy lights gave the place an extra special feel. Catarina's mum helped us at check in and she was just an absolute sweet heart. I wish I had more time to go down and visit her where she lives on the property but we were heavily booked with activities while visiting. The location is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast but still so close it gives the best of both worlds. Local shops in the area are great for basics or a quick bite to eat. The place may be a bit warm for those who don't do well with heat but Catarina has added an aircon to the bedroom to help negate this and it didn't bother us coming from where we live. Getting outside provides a cool reprieve especially once you add water ;)
