We were so well looked after, with detailed instructions how to get to her apartment, how to enter, and what to look out for once we were there. The neighbourhood is delightful and we really fell in love with Wilkes-Barre, which had just been a name on a map sort of on our way. Perfect!

You want to stay here. I stayed in Collyn's place as I drove up I-81 with my 2 dogs. The trip was a bit harrowing (construction! Traffic!) and it was amazing to reach Collyn's place: a serene and impeccably designed retreat. I have only driven past Wilkes-Barre on 81 before, but felt like a local with her list of suggestions. She even made me a map of a route to walk my dogs! She was extremely communicative and friendly. My only regret is that I didn't get to meet her because I'm pretty sure we would be best friends.

Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night but it was a very pleasant experience. The apt is wonderful and i felt at home watering the plants and making coffee. Next time im in town I will definatly try to make it back here and follow the list of suggestions Collyn left.

The space was unique and very clean. We really liked the unique furnishings. The host left a helpful list of local sites and suggestions and we were easily able to explore the town. We were able to easily communicate with the host which was great. She even provided flowers for my girlfriend's birthday.

Collyn has been fully available to make sure I was informed and very welcomed to her private and lovely space. She also included my dog in the adventure! Followed her suggestions on the area, and this added to our relaxing stay. I hope we were as good as guests!

Room was large and accommodating, bathroom was smaller but adaquate. Perfect for a quick nights sleep while passing through on our way to NC. Check was great, Eva made it easy to get in late and leave early.

Eva made everything smooth and provided tips on local hiking. Will stay again when in the area.

Eva has been very cooperative with my stay at the place. I have yet to enter the home, but she has been very flexible in terms of the date of my visit. Especially with the storm that recently came up, she has been very helpful since we have had to delay my visit. Overall, Eva has been very professional in my experience speaking with her. Eva was very flexible with my change of plans. She responses quickly. Good stop for a short night when transiting. Easily accessible to I-81.

I didn't stay the night as I had planned, due to an emergency at home. The parking was good, the room and home clean, and the hostess very pleasant. The room is on the second floor, and you must climb a somewhat steep set of stairs to get access to the first floor. All and all it was adequate, and I would stay there again.

Cecilia and her husband Gordon (Gordy) treat their guests with consideration, respect, and a warm sense of humor. My eight nights with them were wonderful. A great environment, a lovely old house, a comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, and the chance to get to know the two of them and laugh together. No matter what brings you to Wilkes-Barre, your trip will be exponentially enhanced if you stay at Hillard House.

Cecilia and her husband, Gordy, were fantastic! My wife and I could not have asked for a better first experience at a bed and breakfast. They were so helpful with recommendations of places to see in the area. Breakfast each morning was phenomenal (eggs benedict on croissant and gluten-free blueberry ricotta pancakes)! And the Hillard House was even more beautiful in person. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Coming back after visiting neighborhood vineyards and breweries, the front porch makes for a fabulous evening. We highly recommend staying at the Hillard House with Cecilia and Gordy!

We had a very nice stay at the Hillard House, a mansion from 1865 on the bank of the Susquehanna River (though you can't see river from the house). It was easy to communicate with Cecilia, and we enjoyed a nice breakfast along with the other tenants of the B&B, prepared snd served by Cecilia and her husband. The B&B has many common areas, for sitting and reading, and our room was nice with a great mattress and a small but nice bathroom. A good value for those wishing to stay in Wilkes-Barre.

Our hosts were very welcoming and helped with our bags. We stayed there only for one night, but we enjoyed a charming, historic, well maintained home. We met wonderful people at breakfast and had great conversations.

Jules is a very kind and considerate host. This was the perfect kind of place to stop and rest between a long trip. It is located in a quiet, safe neighborhood and is close to all the amenities of a small city. The Anthracite Cafe is worth walking to (.6 mile) to enjoy a delicious food and a variety of drinks. I really liked the area and the ability to get some well-needed rest.

Loved stayin at Jules! They've recently made some updates including a futon and new kitchen chairs that we really liked. The neighborhood is quiet and allowed us to have a good night's rest.

What a great, quiet get a way. Close to many stores you need and several mountains. A great value for a weekend get away. I certainly will stay here again.

Loved the cute, bare bones bungalow apt. It was perfect for our getaway- private, quiet. Not fancy but neither are we. Jules is very welcoming- she was so gracious with helping us reschedule and she educated us about some local hiking and other highlights. We really enjoyed the region's rich spiritual history. Visited the oldest Monastery in the US, which is nearby and we were given a personal tour by one of the monks. It was beautiful! Successful, restorative low stakes vacation.

I stayed at Jules place under unusual circumstances. My Mom was dying in the local hospital but I felt Jules place was a great respite from the day. I could make my own food and have a quiet refuge. Jules checked in with me to ask if I needed anything and made me feel cared for.

We had a very short but comfortable stay at Paul's place. It was clean and comfortable. Communication was fantastic and meeting Paul was a pleasure.

I was just crashing to split a drive in two but Paul's place was more than sufficient. Tons of space, comfortable bed, private bathroom was clean and nice. I would definitely stay again.

Kathy's place exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend and I stayed at this place for our 1 year anniversary. The place has a private entrance, parking driveway, kitchen, bathroom, living room and bed. The queen-sized bed was soooo comfy (we slept in a little too much b/c of it) and everything was very clean. Kathy was so sweet and provided us with little snacks and extra bathroom necessities. She was beyond accommodating (our car broke down, so she let us stay a few extra hours on our last day until we could get a ride home) and she stayed in constant communication with us. We were able to go hiking at Seven Tubs park nearby, which was beautiful. Restaurants nearby were also delicious. This was our first Airbnb experience, so we will definitely be doing this again.

The place is so cute and comfortable and Wendy is super nice. I stayed here while visiting my godparents for Thanksgiving and it was far better than any hotel. We had a lovely time!

I needed a place to stay for 3 weeks as I had recently relocated from the Dallas area and wanted to have a long visit. This place was perfect for me. I knew the area; it was convenient; very comfortable; Wendy and her family were great. Highly recommended.

Our host, Wendy, was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and cool (it was 90 degrees while we were there). We had a very pleasant stay and will plan to stay there again in the future.

This was by far, one of the best Airbnbs that I've stayed at. Wendy, her son and his girlfriend were extremely welcoming when I showed up. The area I stayed in was on par, if not better than most of the "entire house" listings that I've stayed in. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the decor was very nice. If there wasn't another booking immediately after mine, I wouldn't have left. I would without a doubt, stay here again.

We were drawn to this listing by the private entrance and private apartment accommodations, not to mention fairly close proximity to Rickett's Glen State Park (a magical place!). In fact, we never met Wendy face-to-face but were in frequent contact via text. The apartment was all we could've hoped for...very homey, relaxing, comfortable and very well furnished with dishes, eating utensils, TV, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, instant oatmeal, snacks, private bath with shower, towels, shampoo. Great nights sleeping on a kingsized bed with fresh-smelling sheets and quiet! The neighborhood was quiet and safe. For novice Airbnb'ers, we feel like we hit the jackpot with our initial trial!

First off, the pictures do not do this place justice. This cottage is super clean and cozy. The place is beautiful and homey. We enjoyed the balcony and side porch. This is a great place for a couple, or a family with a small child. You can see the lake a block away. There is a lot of space, so you never feel cramped. Very cute! We were there to reunite with friends that I hadn't seen in a very, very long time, and everyone had nothing but good things to say about the place. Catherine was available by text if we needed her, and was actually in town over the weekend. I even found out that my friends wife knows her and her husband! The husband & I booked this cottage in a last minute attempt to get a holiday (Independence Day) weekend away. It was very fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants notice, and Catherine was awesome to work with! The cottage was everything we were looking for - cozy, clean and near a gorgeous lake that was only about a block away. We had access to a private beach where the hubs fished and I sunbathed. Harvey's Lake is an adorable little town that feels like the middle of nowhere, but in reality is only about a 10 min drive to grocery stores and the like. We stocked up on groceries the first night and were pretty much set the rest of our stay. Catherine also provided some really sweet treats, like baguette, cheese, eggs, and milk etc. The neighborhood is super nice and the people are very kind. We will absolutely be back again!

This cottage was the perfect solution for me. I had two weeks of work in the area and the hotels were all more expensive and less appealing. Catherine took care to make sure everything was satisfactory and was always available to answer questions. I found the cottage charming and comfortable

I decided to cruise down to Lake Harvey on a whim to escape the desert that is NYC summer--and my experience at Catherine's spot by the lake could not have been better. Catherine is a gem. She gave me a bunch of suggestions for what to do in the area--I had never been or even heard of Lake Harvey before my trip--and my BF and I ended up going to some water falls which were awesome. She's super sweet--from the brief interaction I had with her I could tell she really cares, both about her property and the people who choose to rent there. You can tell she's a mom--haha, but I mean that in the absolute best way...know what I mean? The cottage is super cute. There is laundry and wifi which is a total plus, and Catherine left us a whole thing of water which was really thoughtful. It's the perfect size for a couple. The walk to the lake is really short--you can see it down the road when you walk out side. I definitely recommend this spot to people who are looking to stay in the Harvey Lake area. Trust that I will be back before the end of the summer! :)

She also kept in touch with us via texts and dropped in once to make sure everything was to our liking.I really appreciated the water bottles she had in the refrigerator .We needed them on two occasions.
