Places to stay in Kinderhook
Cozy, character-filled house combines completely new kitchen and baths with old-fashioned charm. In a lovely, peaceful, historic village. Fireplace, some antique furnishings, some Art Nouveau decor, equipped kitchen. Private back yard. Short walk to village square's farmers' market and restaurants. Close to outdoor recreation: hiking trails, rivers, lakes, ski areas, orchards, farmsteads, Hudson valley attractions and historic sites. Town of Hudson's Amtrak station is a 20-minute drive away.
First floor: Living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, 3/4 bath. Second floor: 2 bedrooms, a full bath. Back yard: deck with table & chairs, raspberries, currants, flower beds. Yard is not fenced, but screened with hedges.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded by more green, open space than many others in the village, as there's a little park directly across the street. The village center is an easy walk from the house and has 4 restaurants: the excellent "Flammerie," serving dinner only; "Broad Street Bagels," serving breakfast and lunch; "Dyad," a wine bar serving lunch and dinner; and the newly-opened Saisonnier, featuring artisan sandwiches, specialty cheeses, charcuterie, and craft beers, wines and ciders. Kinderhook is home of the Old School Art Gallery, which has gained an international reputation, and Martin Van Buren National Historic site, which includes woodland walking trails. The town of Hudson's many unique stores, restaurants, and events is a 20-minute drive away.
  • We had a lovely stay at this charming and quirky house in Kinderhook. The location can't be beat, within walking distance to the village and right across the street from what will soon be a fantastic, refurbished trail. There are plenty of local activities and it was great to come back to an updated, welcoming house. Great Hudson Valley find!

  • The house is well-situated and you feel like you're in a world of your own. Loved it!

  • We abslutely loved the old charm and decoration of the house and the newly renovated bathrooms and kitchen. There are nooks and crannies everywhere with plenty of sconces and electrical outlets. A perfect place for those who appreciate an antique house with modern amenities, in the delightful village setting of Kinderhook close to the great orchards of Samascots and Golden Harvest.

  • Great home and great location

    Natalie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This charming house in Kinderhook is a fantastic place to stay! The beds are comfortable, the showers are great, and the kitchen is fantastic! This historic house has been renovated beautifully - staying here feels like stepping back in time. Barbara and William communicate well and quickly! Kinderhook is delightful, with charming cafes and a touch of history, and it is an easy drive to Chatham (including the Mac-Haydn Theatre) and Valatie. This was my second stay at this home and I would book again in heartbeat!

  • Great place in Kinderhook... a short walk to the center of the little town and also right near the Samascot orchard. Beautiful old house with a private, quiet and green back yard.

    Evan2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very quirky, very cool place in a great location. We liked it so much we're coming back in August. Barbara is great (though we haven't actually met her). Responses to request\inquiries were quick. She always added some personal sentiment to her messages which made it seem like something more than just contacting an Airbnb host.

    William2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This house is a gem! Very clean, with lovely decor that includes some fun & unique touches, and comfortable furnishings. Cozy and relaxing. The backyard is a green oasis. I also enjoyed exploring the super-charming village, with its restaurants and historic sites only a short walk from the house. I will definitely be coming back to stay in this relaxing area and sweet house! Highly recommend this stay.

  • So happy to find Jon's apartment and would absolutely book it again. It's very thoughtfully decorated and appropriate to the feeling you want when spending a weekend in a country village. It is clean, warm, and has a comfortable bed. Perfect location right in the village, very walkable, with great cafes right around the corner. I didn't meet Jon in person, but he was responsive, kind, and helpful when I did reach out.

    Michael2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Guenter’s place is perfect for a weekend away. A 5 min walk to several restaurants in Kinderhook, and a comfy place to relax. The cider doughnuts were an added bonus! We’d come back anytime.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely, comfortable and serene. Simple but tasteful furnishings and great location on a quiet side street near the center of Kinderhook. Renee and Guenther were fantastic hosts and met us when we checked in to walk us through all we needed to know about the cottage and surrounding area. Would definitely return.

  • Words can’t describe how perfect this place is! Walking distance to so many great places, simple and stylish decor (which may inspire some redecoration at my own house), an amazingly comfortable bed, and the cider donuts and sparkling water were an appreciated treat after a long drive! The best of all are the hosts, Guenter and Renee! They are excited to host you and great local tips!

    Jennifer2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot speak highly enough about the Cottage! My partner and I spent the better part of a week upstate, and the Cottage was a perfect home base for spending time in Kinderhook in addition to taking day drips around the Hudson Valley + Massachusetts. The home was clean and very well appointed - we even enjoyed browsing many of the books housed throughout. Guenter and Renee were fabulous hosts who offered great tips about food and activities in the area.

  • Debra's house was absolutely lovely. It was a very welcoming and cozy space. The house was sparkling clean and had everything we could have needed. Debra was a fantastic host and very accommodating. When we weren't relaxing by the fire, we enjoyed walking our dogs on a trail behind the house and visiting the local brewery in town. It was the perfect relaxing getaway!

  • Debra's home is truly an oasis. It was so relaxing and the perfect getaway from the city. I hadn't expected the lovely downtown of Kinderhook to be as close as it was, and the farmer's market was amazing! It was the perfect home base for us to explore the area, and to come home at night for a fire and a delicious meal, from all local ingredients. Debra has really put every effort into making the space welcoming, and we can't recommend it enough.

Kinderhaus Folk Art Museum, an extremely sweet and crooked house from 1770 full of art and antiques, is located in the historical village of Kinderhook, just a few minutes’ walk from several cafés, excellent restaurants, antique shops, library, bank, and Jack Shainman’s gallery, “The School”. It’s also just a short drive from marvelous Hudson and all of it’s antique stores and galleries, many local organic farms and farm shops, as well as the Shaker Museum and Shaker Village.
  • Jenny's home was a veritable museum filled with her artwork and an impressive collection of antiques, curios, books on folk art, and vinyl records. Each lovingly decorated room was a joy to explore. Jenny was a fantastic host whose communication was prompt and seamless. She is also an old friend of Tasha Tudor and an artist in her own right with a fascinating story. I highly recommend her place to folk art lovers and anyone traveling the area (Kinderhook was in itself a charming town, The School is not to be missed!). Oh, and she found & returned the entirety of my travel money that I'd left behind by accident. I really can't thank her enough.

    Sung2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • I could spend hours looking at the art and objects in this beautiful little Kinderhook home. It was a lovely stay in a peaceful neighborhood, and convenient to Hudson.

    Tessa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing house! The folk art is wonderful, beautifully displayed and layered to make the home feel quirky, cozy, and fascinating. The garden is so inviting, and it's only a block walk into the center of Kinderhook. Jenny left a thoughtful chocolate on the nightstand and the directions for everything were easy, clear, and no-fuss. A delightful stay!

    Meredith2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny’s place is a dream come true, such a beautiful home nestled into the lovely town of Kinderhook. We had such a great stay, her communication was great and we had no issues at all. Thank you Jenny, I look forward to returning one day!

    Josie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Walked to breakfast and dinner. Jenny provided much appreciated Pellegrino and chocolate on arrival.

    Larry2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Jenny's lovely home. The space is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated. I couldn't stop staring at her incredible collection of folk art! Her house is old but with modern amenities, so you still get that traditional country home feeling with updated appliances, the best of both worlds really. It's in a great location with a farmers market, restaurants, antique shops and The School gallery all within walking distance. We didn't get to meet Jenny in person but she was very responsive and kind.

    Mia2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jenny’s house, it is full of surprises and interesting antiques and art work. The communication was great and Jenny is very nice and helpful. Highly recommended!

  • Jenny's home is a true gem! The location is wonderful: Kinderhook is a great town with the cutest houses and its close to Hudson and other nice towns. Jenny is an artist with a great eye for decor! The home, as well as its garden, is so lovely. We learned so much about folk art and enjoyed seeing the pieces on display through out the house, especially the Howard Finster piece. So much character! I cannot recommend the Folk Art Museum enough!

Jenny's Folk Art Museum is a house from 1770, located in the historical district of Kinderhook Village, just a twenty minute drive north of Hudson. The house retains much character from a bygone era, with wide wooden floorboards, bumpy horsehair and plaster walls, and wavy glass window panes, and is crooked and "wabi sabi" as it can be. Jenny, an artist and avid collector herself, has filled the house with folk art, "outsider art", antique quilts, extraordinary art books, and her own creations.
Despite all the rustic charm of the place, Jenny's Folk Art Museum is well equipped with all the necessary modern amenities. Also, the post office, cafés, restaurants, bank, library, and farmer's market are all just a two or three minutes' walk away. In the master bedroom suite there is one queen-sized bed, a private bathroom, and a sweet little gas stove to keep things toasty. There is also a single bed available in "Gustav's Room", as well a double bed in Jenny's studio. All of the beds are complete with goose down comforters, wool blankets, quilts, and organic linens, as well as merino wool mattress covers. (The towels, bath mats, etc. are also organic, whenever possible, since Jenny lived on an organic farm in Norway for 23 years, and is devoted to all things sustainable and ecological! There are also wool slippers and bathrobes for guests.) The water in the showers is delightfully hot, and the water pressure is excellent. The house is three stories, and has many peculiar and narrow staircases.... There are also two gas fireplaces, and a kitchen overflowing with enough cookware to roast a Thanksgiving turkey and bake a few pies: perfect for any traveling chefs out there! The cabinets are not only stocked with organic coffee, tea, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, pepper, herbs and spices (which guests may help themselves to), but also other organic foodstuffs; I only ask for a voluntary contribution to be placed in the donation jar on the kitchen counter in exchange for the consumption of such. Also: there is a reverse osmosis water filter jug in the cabinet to the right of the stove. (Because of Jenny's health concerns there is no microwave in the house, but instead a state-of-the-art toaster oven!) For a small fee guests may use the washer and dryer.... But the use of the clothesline and clothes pins are free!
Kinderhook has several restaurants and cafés in walking distance of the house, as well as many nearby organic and biodynamic farms and farm stands. Every Saturday, during the warmer months, there is a farmer's market in the town square. In addition there are several historical sites and buildings that are open to the public, and Jack Shainman's gallery "The School" has exhibitions throughout the year. Hudson, with its marvelous antique shops and restaurants, is only a twenty minute drive (or bus ride) away. Many other charming villages, such as Chatham and Valatie, are also just a few miles away.
  • We loved staying here! It was so clean, and the kitchen was fun to cook in. The bed was sooo comfortable and having access to three fireplaces was awesome. There’s little touches like a record player and an essential oil diffuser which made the stay extra fun. We want to definitely stay here again. Also, Jenny was such a warm and receiving host!

    Kate2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's home is lovely and clean. The two fireplaces are an amazing touch.

    Alex2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, charming getaway spot with all the amenities of home. Lots of character and cozy nooks, particularly upstairs. Would love to stay again!

    Lauren2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a truly lovely home for our annual trip, a cute but wonderfully artsy house in Catskills close to beautiful trails! Jenny also communicated everything well in advance and super easy check-in process, 100% would recommend.

    Ophelia2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy and charming house, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed I sept in (downstairs bedroom) is the most comfortable ever! I didn't want to leave! The house has a lot of beautiful and charming objects, it is quite a collection, and rather chock full of stuff, but set up in a very welcoming way.

    Sara2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the coolest and most unique homes I've stayed at. The place has so much character and is so well designed. It was super clean and comfortable. The kitchen and grill were perfect for all the cooking we wanted to do. All of the fireplaces made for an incredibly cozy and relaxing time. The surround area is equally as beautiful and cool as the house. We would absolutely stay here again.

    John2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • True to its name, Jenny's Folk Art Museums is filled with artfully arranged historical and handmade pieces. There was so much to explore. We appreciated the extra touches, like the cozy wool slippers, beautiful quilts and big cozy duvets. We enjoyed eating at the big harvest table in the dining room and congregating in the living room with the gas fireplace late into the night. Kinderhook itself is adorable, with big beautiful old homes, an art museum and a sweet little coffee shop that makes a great bagle for the drive home!

    Carol2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Three of us stayed at Jenny's extraordinarily charming and inspiring house in Kinderhook, often wandering from room to room snapping pictures on our phones to remind us of her creative genius. The house is somehow filled with precious items and yet not at all cluttered, cozy and comfortably yet still airy and light. Kinderhook, too, was a revelation. I didn't know that part of the world and was really taken with it. There was much to do and see -- prowl antique and junk stores in Hudson, walk out to eat in K'hook, gawk at the wonderful old houses. Jenny, we aspire to come back!

Thoughtfully designed two-bedroom apartment located above a former millinery shop built in 1880. Beautiful natural light. Mix of vintage and modern amenities, including two guest bedrooms, full kitchen and bath, high speed wifi, onsite laundry and work desk. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. 20 minutes to Hudson. 30 minutes to Albany, the Berkshires and the Catskills.
An effortless upstate getaway combining modern convenience and vintage charm. Perfect for two couples, a small group of friends, or a live-work home base in the Historic Hudson Valley. Includes two guest bedrooms—one king, one queen. Full bath. High speed wifi. Apple TV. AC throughout. Calphalon cutlery and cookware. Linens and necessities. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. Centrally located on Valatie's Main Street with all of the village's amenities within a 2-minute walk—restaurants, antique shops, bookstore, pilates studio, wine shop, library. Easy access for tubing, fly fishing and swimming in the creek—entering through Pachaquack Preserve. (Please note that we don't provide kayaks, tubes or other outdoor gear, so it's best to bring your own) We're right next door to the Main Street Diner, one of the best diners in Columbia County. They open at 6, close at 9. We eat there at least 3 times a week. They're like family to us. You can park in the free municipal parking lot directly across from the house. PLEASE NOTE: This is a second floor apartment up a flight of stairs, in case anyone in your party has mobility issues.
Warm and welcoming, Valatie is one of the nation's first self-sustaining industrial villages—now a tightly knit community of small businesses, creative professionals and craftspeople. Pronounced “Va-lay-sha,” a Dutch word meaning “little falls,” Valatie is named after the three beautiful waterfalls that surround it. The tranquil Kinderhook Creek bisects the village and is a favorite swimming hole and tubing destination—as well as a Blue Ribbon trout fishing waterway reminiscent of the shallow, meandering rivers of Montana's big sky country. Prior to the Dutch settling the area in the 17th century, Valatie served as as a spiritual meeting place for the region’s nomadic Mohican tribes whose ancient footpaths are still walkable today along Pachaquack Preserve, a 5 minute walk from the house. Proud of its diverse history, Valatie is central to many of the Hudson Valley's landmark destinations. The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, Luycas Van Alen House, Edna St. Vincent Millay's Steepletop, Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse and the Benedict Arnold House are all within a quick drive—as well as cultural destinations like the Jack Shainman Gallery: The School, Art OMI, the Shaker Museum at Mount Lebanon and the Won Dharma Center. A popular antiquing destination, Valatie is located just 20 minutes north of Hudson's thriving restaurant and cultural scene—and just 10 minutes away from Chatham's beautifully redeveloped downtown with a weekend's worth of shops, bookstores, bakeries, breweries and culinary restaurants—not to mention a vintage art house movie theater, the Crandell Theatre. Valatie makes for the perfect launch point for easy day trips to the Catskills, the Berkshires, Woodstock, Saugerties, Vermont, Lake George, the Adirondacks and Albany's Capitol District (including Troy's bourgeoning creative scene).
  • I loved Seth’s space. I thought it was a really great value for the cost. My favorite things: 1) The kitchen came fully stocked with all the tools you need if you want to bring your own ingredients and make food there. 2) The space is so simple but thoughtfully-designed. All the lamps and lighting made it feel so cozy and nice. 3) I really liked that there were actual living, thriving houseplants in each room. Just made it feel that much nicer.

  • This is my 2nd stay at Hudson House. I enjoyed and appreciated the first stay, the 2nd time around was just as fine. Anytime I'm in this area, I will look to book here again, top notch!

  • Hudson House is a nicely rehabed older commercial building, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It is located on the main street, but it is not a heavily traveled street and all traffic pretty much ceases around 10 pm. I had no problem sleeping, beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils. Main Street Diner right next door, opens at 6am and is very convenient for an early breakfast. Very Nice, highly recommended.

  • Seth is a wonderful host. His place is sparkling clean and has everything you would need to stay in the house. I loved the clear instructions Seth provided before our arrival. The house was easy to locate and the check in was a breeze. He also provided local suggestions and the list was very thorough. We loved the art, amenities and the comfort of the house. It is one of the best Airbnb we have ever stayed at. I think he’s an interior designer. The place looked like a 5 star hotel. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to get away from city and wants to experience some quiet and alone time. I needed the time to meditate and connect to myself and it was just what I needed. I would definitely come back.

  • Seth's place is great. Back porch is peaceful. Beds are super comfy. Kitchen is well stocked. Walking distance to restaurants\bars and antique shops. We will stay again when back in the area. And Seth gives great feedback on food recommendations!

  • The best stay I’ve had with Airbnb thus far. The space was perfect for me and my boyfriend. I’m definitely going to plan more trips nearby and book this stay again. The kitchen and supply closet was well stocked with anything and everything. Kitchen highlight: French Pressed coffee... Overall stay: fantastic.

This is a romantic and sensual open floor plan 2-bedroom apartment in a guesthouse on a 15 acre property. The lower apartment is another guest space that can be rented in conjunction, if so desired. This apartment has been designed in an eclectic style featuring vintage, antique and modern furniture and accessories. Enjoy a private back porch, access to a large lawn and a shared sunset-view platform! The guesthouse is set back from the road and has lovely western Catskill Mountain views.
The neighborhood is very rural with a horse farm, dairy farm and Samascott Orchards close by. The Hudson River is a beautiful bike-ride away and walks alongside the River evoke a pre-civilization landscape. For those seeking culture: Seven car minutes away from the farm you can visit the Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook. The friendly village of Kinderhook offers quite a few historic mansions and old farm houses, like Martin van Buren's (8th President of the USA) "Lindenwald", the Van Alen House and the Vanderpoel House. Further away you find Olana, Clairmont and the Thomas Cole house. Historic Hudson is 20 minutes away and offers fine dining, galleries and vintage/antique shopping. Art Omi is in the vicinity as well with many culture and art events. Kinderhook has a Restaurant for foodies: "The Flammerie", with a "Biergarten" featuring Bavarian specialties among other things . And there is a lovely wine bar in an old townhouse called "Dyad". Down at the Hudson River is a Mexican restaurant called "Pico Di Gallo" with good food and friendly service. During the summer every Saturday morning you find a farmer's market in the main square of Kinderhook.
  • This is a beautiful place that has been carefully designed with attention to detail and color. The apartment has a wonderful flow, is flooded with light and has impressive Western views. We were amazed how layered the design was and how well the eclectic and unique mix of antique and vintage furniture and accessories was put together. The location feels private yet is conveniently close to historic Kinderhook, Hudson, Art Omi, the river etc.. Barbara was a graceful host and readily available when needed. We truly had a wonderful stay. Highly recommended!! Barbara and Markus

  • It is a beautiful space and she did such a great job of decorating it.

    Jai2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location is beautiful and quaint. The design of the interior is beautiful.

    Marialisa2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara’s space was so aesthetically pleasing, so well decorated, and so refreshingly separate from the busy city while still close to cultural sites in Hudson (about 20 minutes). We stayed for three nights and made use of the kitchen (which has all the tools you’d need, including standard spices) and wonderfully decorated bathroom. The Wifi works well, and there are several interesting books around the apartment as well — keep in mind, there’s no TV, if that’s important to you! We absolutely didn’t mind and didn’t miss the TV. Overall we would absolutely go back, it was lovely and detached and unexpected.

  • We had the most relaxing weekend at Maggie’s. The place is amazing and Maggie has thought of absolutely everything you could need! We brought our dog and she had a bin for poop bags, a doggy bed & dog treats. The place looks exactly like the photos - waking up to that view over the pond every morning ... We will definitely be back!!

  • Beyond stunning. We never wanted to leave - gorgeous views day and night. We actually went outside and laid in the grass and watched the sky at night because it was so beautiful. Comfortable bed, and Maggie was a fantastic host that went out of her way to make sure we were welcome and comfortable.

  • We enjoyed an incredibly cozy weekend stay at The Bird Cottage! It was ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Delightful touches and yummy provisions as bonus! A hiking trail out back and great nearby restaurants. Book it!

    Thomas2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie’s place was absolutely fantastic. There’s is not a single thing I could think to complain about. Whether it’s coffee and snacks, or enough towels for 6 people even as two guests, the place was amazing. To top it all off biscuit is the friendliest pup in the world, and Maggie’s number one rule is you cannot leave until you give biscuit a belly rub. Would highly recommend.

    Mert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Maggies place was amazing. It is in a very peaceful and beautiful location. Maggie was quick to help us with all of our needs. The thought and care put into the guesthouse was beyond our expectations. We highly recommend staying here.

  • Maggie was the most hospitable host I've ever had on AirBnB! From the snack-stocked mini fridge to the hand delivered quiche for breakfast- Maggie thought of everything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Bird Cottage, the trails around Oom Pond, and our dog loved being able to explore the area! 10/10 would recommend for a quaint and quiet getaway

    Elke2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Bird Cottage exceeded my expectations. Maggie and Peter were amazing hosts; very warm and welcoming. The cottage was spacious and had many special touches-cozy bedding, lovely artwork and furnishings and lots of snacks and beverages. The property is lovely and very peaceful and quiet. I stayed there in the winter but would love to come again in the warmer months. It also lives up to its name as I saw many beautiful birds through the windows!

    Marian2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Maggie's guest house and absolutely recommend! Maggie was really communicative and helpful in advance of the trip, letting me know about the weather and possible activities in the area, which was all greatly appreciated. Check-in was seamless and the space itself is beautifully appointed and cozy! Maggie had clearly thought of every possible amenity we might have needed for our weekend and was especially thoughtful in leaving us some special treats, including a homemade quiche and maple syrup made by a neighbor! The property itself is also really lovely and worth spending some time meandering. We had a great morning drinking coffee by the pond with Biscuit, her yellow lab, who I am still thinking about. :) This is a great spot for any solo travelers or couples--we absolutely hope to visit again. Thanks, Maggie!

  • Oliver's home is everything and more than I expected. I wanted a place to get away with my son, dog, and another couple on the outside of a town. The location is GREAT for having a dog with you. Oliver was quick to any questions I may had for him. I would highly recommend his home as it feels like a home away from home.

  • We had a wonderful family vacation in this serene, cozy home in the woods. It was the perfect place for us to alternate exploring the area, skiing, and curling up with a good book or playing a board game by the fire. The deck and ample side yard were perfect for star gazing at night. Our 6 year old loved running around the woods or playing with toys around the house. Oliver was extremely responsive and the house was full of all we needed for the five days we were there. We stopped at Hawthorn Valley Farm Store for local products, enjoyed dinner in Chatham, and can’t wait to come back again in the summer to truly make use of the outdoor space.

  • We had an amazing weekend at Susan’s. Our goal for the weekend was to escape the city, explore local fare, and give our pup much needed green space. Susan’s place delivered on all of these. The space was great — the bed was extremely comfortable, it felt very private, and the house in itself was very dog friendly. Susan made us an amazing breakfast both mornings of our stay, and had a great system of playing music at an agreed upon time to let us know she was in the downstairs space. Outside of making breakfast for us, she left the bedroom, kitchen, and living area for our private use. The location was also exactly what we were looking for. We had a great time exploring the local towns, hiking the conservatory, visiting the Chatham Brewery, and listening to live music late night in Valatie. Susan’s place is on an incredible piece of land, and our mini goldendoodle, Charlie, loved exploring. Plus, Susan and Charlie hit it off and she was kind enough to spend some time with her while we explored. Susan’s an amazing pup sitter. Charlie LOVED her. We had an amazing weekend at Susan’s and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a nice, quiet weekend away from the city!

  • My partner and I stayed at Susan's to have a few days to explore the area and get our dog out of the city. We had a lovely stay - Susan is a kind and warm person who made us feel immediately welcome in her home. We ended up with pretty terrible weather, which just meant more cozy time indoors in front of the wood burning stove, which was a treat. Susan had a great recommendation for where we could go for a trail run, and when the sleet cut that short, we ended up exploring Chatham's main street - Goodness on Main had incredible baked goods, and I bought yarn for a sweater at The Warm Ewe. We really loved the area, and Susan's house was a very comfortable and cozy jumping off point for us. Susan has had an interesting career and is genuinely interested in other people, we enjoyed getting to know her over breakfast and appreciated her warm hospitality.

    Karina2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Susan’s place is exactly as billed and more. We loved being able to get away and Susan’s place is so warm and welcoming. Charming 1850’s colonial in the quiet and historic hamlet of New Baltimore with sweeping 180-degree Hudson River views. Truly surrounded by nature and disconnected from city-life, this spacious two bedroom, two-and-a-half bath with multiple fireplaces is perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing vacation. Two hours from NYC and 20 mins from Albany and Catskill. Great Hudson Valley jump off point to Catskills hiking and kayaking, Saratoga spas and Hudson vintage shopping.
The perfect place to relax and detach in the picturesque Hudson River Valley.
Located on the Hudson River, the hamlet of New Baltimore is a small and quiet town full of outdoor activities. There are various hiking trails such as the Hannacroix Creek Preserve Trail and the Long View Park Trail, in addition to the town's very own kayaking launch site located in Cornell Park right on the Hudson River. For the best waterfront dining experience during Spring and Summer, head over to the Boathouse Grille. Yanni's Too is also right on the river, and the perfect option for year-round casual dining. Want to venture out further? The town of Hudson is only 30 minutes away, and so are the Catskill mountains.
  • The location on the Hudson River was beautiful. The sunrises are great and will probably be even better in the spring and summer. One reviewer mentioned not having enough kitchen supplies, but we did not find that to be the case. We had everything we needed. The deck is even better than the pictures show. Basic supermarket about 8 mins away but bigger stores about an extra 20 mins. Overall would recommend.

  • Great place, great space and stay. Desiree was super helpful and responsive. 10/10

    Jose2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Desiree’s place is in a nice Hudson River hamlet. Wonderful walking trails nearby and it is fun to walk around the historic community.

    Deborah2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Desiree's lovely home is a wonderful mix of historic architectural features and modern amenities. My sister and I really appreciated how clean and spacious the home was. The home has a very serene vibe, and we enjoyed taking advantage of the fireplace with the lovely-smelling wood left by the owner. In terms of personal preferences, my sister and I would have preferred a tv downstairs for movie-viewing, rather than a projector in the upstairs bedroom. We could not take advantage of the lovely outdoor furniture on the deck due to the weather, and would have liked a bit more cozy furniture options in the family room instead, to leisurely enjoy the fire, have a glass of wine, and read/talk/watch a movie.

Enjoy a quiet respite from the city in this architect-designed tiny house overlooking a meadow, deep in the woods. Located on 20 acres of land with private trails and Catskill-mountain views, this bespoke cabin feels blissfully far away from everything, yet it’s only a 15-minute drive from vibrant city of Hudson, NY. Experience a peaceful off-the-grid retreat —complete with hand-crank Victrola. Time moves slower here. The sky is closer. The stars, brighter. Note: NO electricity. NO Running water
The setting is intimate, serene, secluded. Clerestory windows contribute to a sculptural play of light against gently angled, hand-plastered walls. Downstairs: A bold, vintage-inspired ceramic tile floor, a wood-burning stove, and a bay window with a window seat for long, lazy afternoons of reading. Upstairs: the loft bedroom features wide, white-washed pine floors, a comfortable full-size bed and hand-crafted cabinets. Savor the pleasures of camping, of being close to nature, while experiencing the comforts of an idiosyncratic, beautifully designed abode. The cabin is well insulated, thus stays cool in the summer and warms up quickly in the winter. The cabin comes with a supply of drinking water. Cooking can be done indoors, on the wood-burning stove, or outside, on the Weber grill. Plenty of firewood (walnut, harvested from the property) awaits you. An outhouse toilet is sited about 200 yards away from the cabin. There is NO electricity and NO running water. If there is snow the drive is not plowed so the cabin is only accessible by parking at the end of the driveway and hiking to the cabin. This is approximately a 400 yard walk in the snow so bring boots or snow shoes and wear a backpack to get your supplies to the cabin!
The Hudson River, and boat launch for canoes and kayaks, is just a 20-minute walk or 3 minute drive away. The Stockport Creek, a conservation area, is even closer. In the opposite direction are trails on hundreds of acres that are protected and owned by Scenic Hudson. Fishing: There are striped bass and large mouth bass under the Stockport Creek bridge and under the Amtrack bridge, where the Stockport Creek feeds into the Hudson River.
  • This was such a unique experience. I spent a of couple days at the cabin. Cut wood and newspaper were left for making fires. There was more than enough equipment there to be self sufficient. Also a 15 minute drive into town if you are looking to be social!

    Brandi2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • John's cabin is the perfect woodsy getaway. It was super warm and cozy, despite it being below freezing outside, and we loved cooking on the wood-burning stove! I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a "glamping" experience with an extra touch of magic!!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in this beautiful cabin for the weekend and it really is as striking in person as it is in pictures. We came in the dead of winter when the weather dropped to around 15 degrees and stayed nice and toasty with the wood burning stove. We cooked on the stove as well and ate a candlelit dinner. We had an amazing time, thank you, John!

  • This place is incredible. We really appreciated all the little touches to make the get away even better. We were expecting it to be amazing but it turned out to be more so when we arrived! John is very accommodating and really does provide more wood than you’d ever need. It’s also very private and quiet. We didn’t see another person the whole time as the land we were on is very spacious. Cooking was a lot of fun and the inside stove is great for just that. We also used the grill and fire place at times. We definitely want to come back in the summer since we visited in January. Although we were lucky enough to have unseasonably warm weather. With that said, this is the first Airbnb place we’ve ever considered revisiting. A true gem.

  • Christopher and Jessica’s home is beautiful, clean and cozy - I can’t recommend it enough! It feels brand new, and they have put so much thought into making it comfortable for their guests, down to the last detail. We felt so welcome, and appreciated the timely and helpful communication throughout. The house is in a great location - about a 15 minute drive from Hudson, and only a few minutes away from local restaurants and a grocery store. Overall, this was one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to be back!

    Maya2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! Christopher and Jessica are fabulous, considerate hosts and their home is so beautiful and comfortable. It's an old house with an efficient layout (the room with the daybed was one of my favorite spaces to think and plan), and modern appliances. We absolutely would return!

  • The Sweet House is exactly that...sweet. The moment my friends and I walked in the door, we felt right at home. It was thoughtfully decorated and full of charm. I couldn’t have asked for more. Perfect place to getaway to. One weekend just wasn’t enough.

    Danielle2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We just returned to the Sweet House for a summer vacation. We had already been there once this spring and enjoyed it immensely. While staying in Kinderhook, I had a chance to visit a horse rescue and go riding with friends. My husband and I also hiked down the trail to Bash Bish Falls (from the MA side) and explored the Catskill Mountains. On warm summer evenings, we used the fire pit and sat around the fire under the stars with friends. The house provides the perfect retreat. I recommend it highly as a place to unwind and relax!

    Amy2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed staying at the Sweet House. 🙌🙌🙌

    Blake2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Christopher's place in Kinderhook. The house is very charming and combines and old-worldly feel with a very up-to-date kitchen and amenities, and its location is superb. We recommend it to other travelers without reservation.

  • Dominic's place has a very relaxed vibe and is perfect for anyone, especially someone that wants to "unplug" for a long weekend. He has a very nice place and the description is spot on! He also offers everything you could think of, including kayaks and fishing gear, that we put to good use. We would definitely come back up again for a quiet weekend! Thanks for hosting us!

  • We had a great stay! Dominic was fantastic!

  • Quiet, peaceful, comfortable. Enjoy kayaking on the lake and sitting on the screened porch relaxing. Would definitely stay there again.

    Judy2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dominic is a very responsive, friendly and accommodating host. Communication was a non-issue. The house is inviting, with a large open room where we could dine and play poker by the fire. The porch on the lakeshore was fantastic for morning coffee. There are train tracks a few blocks away, so they pass by every few hours, which we found soothing but guests should be aware of.

Large newly restored studio apartment attached to a single family home nestled in a quiet pastoral setting just outside the Village of Chatham, NY. Private entrance leads to a bright 20' X 40' room, full bath and kitchen with a 2nd floor view. The host lives full time in the main house.
The rental space is one large newly renovated studio with a queen size antique brass bed, kitchen table and chairs, futon (that can accommodate 2 extra people), couch, flat screen cable TV, a full sized bathroom, lots of windows/skylight, a kitchen that has a full size refrigerator, sink, microwave oven, Keurig coffee maker (coffee/tea and half & half provided), but NO cooktop or oven. This is on the 2nd floor and there are 13 stairs with the appropriate hand-railing. Wildlife abounds as we are surrounded by open fields and woods which you are welcome to explore. Conveniently located near Chatham's walkable Main St. with independent cafes, fine dining, bookstore, microbrewery and the historic Crandell Theatre, we are less than 2 miles from the Taconic State Parkway, 13 miles to the lively city of Hudson and just 20 minutes to all the Berkshires has to offer. You will need a car while visiting, as there is no real public transportation, and parking is conveniently located just outside the apartment. Our views of 30 to 40 miles encourage you to relax with the sunsets, or get energized with the sunrises with a walk in Borden's Conservation area which is just at the edge of our property.
We think this little pocket of the Hudson Valley is quite unique as we are close to many cultural attractions but still nestled in quiet pastoral settings. You can actually see the stars at night and in the distance the lights of our capital, Albany. We have a real Main Street in our own small village which is very quaint and offers retail, restaurants, and other businesses that are still family owned, and where parking is easy and free. Within a few miles we have stage theatre, indoor and outdoor art galleries, the local park to swim, lots of places to hike well groomed trails, farmers' markets, a vaudeville era movie theatre, public libraries, and the list could go on and on. And if you head 20 minutes East you'll hit the Berkshires with Tanglewood/Lenox, The Clark/Williamstown, the Norman Rockwell Museum and Stockbridge, just to mention a few attractions. The City of Hudson is just 13 miles to the South and offers more restaurants, galleries and antique shops, Olana and the Hudson River.

  • This might be just about my favorite AirBnB stay I’ve had. George’s cabin feels like staying in a spa. Everything is textured and high quality from the blankets to the ceramics and art decorating the space to the jar of lavender salt by the bath for you to soak in the hot water. Chickens roam the yard and flowers overflow the beautiful gardens. There are yoga mats and books on meditation and a wooded grove along a path through the trees. The space is truly idyllic. And George is just the nicest. He greeted us and made us feel very welcome, then gave us space to enjoy the natural surroundings the rest of our stay. It was perfect. Please note that there isn’t a kitchen in this space as of now, though there is a small refrigerator so you can keep some yogurt and granola, half and half for your pour-over coffee, etc. I highly recommend George’s cabin.

    Paige2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • George was so great! The place was lovely, charming, beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. • This was my first Air bnb stay and it definitely won't be my last! Mary's house is located in a quiet neighborhood next to an orchard. The house itself was super clean and had ample room for myself, my husband and our 4 small children. The backyard was completely fenced in with a deck and grill. The beds were comfy and the washer/dryer were handy. The kitchen was big and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. It was warm when we visited and the A/C was amazing! Mary had special touches around the house that made our stay even better. There were toys, books, musical toys that my kids loved. She was easy to contact and quick to reply. She stopped by and my husband talked to her and got lots of good information about the village (things to do/try) and tips on our travel back to the airport in NYC. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

  • We had a great three-night stay at Stuyvesant House with our two dogs. It’s a beautiful house in a beautiful location. We especially loved the extremely comfortable king sized bed, the awesome kitchen, the shower, and the proximity to plenty of great (and non-crowded) hiking trails. Highly recommend!

  • What a wonderful place to visit. The Stuyvesant House is a beautifully redesigned farmhouse with a clean, airy mix of rustic and modern. All amenities were topnotch. Most evenings we enjoyed cooking, unwinding and hanging out by the fire. Each day we raved about how well we had slept in the fabulous king size bed. Since we are avid hikers, the area offered us plenty of parks and trails within easy driving distance. For us, our stay was a perfect balance of tranquility and activities. Our terrier couldn't have been happier roaming the fields in the mornings. Alix was a kind and super communicative host. We are so thankful for her tips and quick responses. Thank you Alix and David for sharing this precious place! Stella, Lars and Mitzi

  • This is the second time I've stayed at the Stuyvesant house and I can't wait to go back. The home is beautifully designed to compliment the gorgeous grounds in the Hudson Valley. In addition, Alix and David are the most welcoming and communicative hosts Ive experienced on Airbnb. Truly a haven for all who visit!

Private entrance and an attached private bathroom. Enjoy the porch, garden, honey bees; walk around the old farm/fields., situated on the bank of the Valatie Kill in the quaint hamlet. Jiminy Peak Ski is a 30 min., Larkin Hill is a stones throw, as well as the Kinderhook Creek & OC Hunt Club. Excellent loops for cyclists. We are 30 minutes from Albany or Hudson, Schodack Island 15 min. Excellent roads. It is a wonderful way to get some real fresh air - good for couples, solo, and business.
    Private entrance.
North Chatham is a lovely historic district. Although there is no eating establishment in the hamlet, there are several within a few minutes drive or bike. There is homemade ice cream with local milk not far.
  • Easy check in, beautiful house, nice neighborhood.

  • Liked staying at Vicki's Airbnb. The home was clean and Vicki was a great communicator and offered to make me a pot of coffee in the morning. The location was great for me and the area is so beautiful. I visited in January and cannot imagine how beautiful this area of the country is in Spring, Summer or Fall. Would stay again. Mark

Our lovingly maintained carriage house is light & bright, having full kitchen, dining & living areas, with a wood stove. The cozy bedroom and private bathroom add to the space, offering a wonderful farm experience or a simple country life retreat.
Fairland Farm is located on County Route 21, Kinderhook, 20 min. from Hudson, NY and 2.5 hrs from NYC. Fairland Farm produces organic vegetables, and is located in scenic Columbia County - the gem of upstate New York.
Both the Village of Kinderhook and the greater Town of Kinderhook offer a variety of eateries, small shops, and roadside farm stands, as well as the expected, and more familiar, retail establishments such as grocery stores, banks, churches, and car repair shops. However, Kinderhook is a rural community with a multitude of working farms and you should expect, during growing season, to see and smell, all that entails.
  • We totally enjoyed our stay.

  • Second time at Bill's carriage house. Really, really lovely time. The pool, which we used every day of our stay, is incredible, and has such a breathtaking view. Bill was a great host, very communicative, and provided another wonderful stay. Will be back again next year!

  • Had such a great time at Carriage House at Fairland Farm. Bill was the perfect host providing us with great local suggestions, breakfast/snacks, and checking in on us to make sure we were having a great time. The apartment it self is perfect for a getaway with a fully operating kitchen, cozy living room, and comfortable beds. Super market and local stores were within 5 minutes driving distance which was great! We absolutely loved having access to the pool, we spent a lot of time there and the views of the farm/nearby mountains from the pool were breathtaking. We even got to walk around the farm which was a great experience. Make sure to catch the sunset while staying at Bills, it was mesmerizing! As we were getting ready to leave our group was already discussing when we could return! We will definitely be booking again with Bill!

  • Our family (two adults and children ages 5 and 8) truly enjoyed our stay at Bill’s place in Kinderhook. It’s such a lovely carriage house on working vegetable farm. We used the pool each day of our weekend and that was such a nice addition to have. Bill welcomed us with items stocked in the refrigerator as well as some pantry items for us to snack on. The carriage house is so nice and larger in person than it looked in the photos. We slept comfortably and enjoyed our day trips to Hudson, Athens, Chatham and Valatie. There’s so much to do in the immediate area and plenty of eating places too. Mother Nature took the power out while we were staying at the carriage house and Bill was so responsive and extremely helpful in accommodating us. It was a great trip and we will be back again. Give this quaint place a try and it won’t disappoint.

    Kinderhook, NY, United States

A century old brick barn renovated in 2018, 10 miles from Hudson, close to Kinderhook, now a quiet, secluded, unique residence. Surrounded by gardens, sheep, and ponies, set off a country road, with a converted jungle shower, loft, close to Hudson, Chatham, bike/ hiking trails, walk to a waterfall, etc. Vegetable garden. Easy drive to Columbia County and Berkshire treats. The farm shares space with nature: insects, reptiles, wind, sun, etc. all exist regardless of their impact on visitors.
There is a queen bed upstairs in the loft (with secure gate for kids) and a queen size, new sofa bed downstairs plus full-size day bed. The kitchen is new, gas stove. Skylights and extra doors and climate controls added in 2018. The jungle shower changes over time and the photos here might not be up to date. More plants, humidifier, etc. We're always working on it. Another nice thing is how far back from the road the house is. If you have dogs or children, you can open the door and let them run out (assuming your dog is not interested in eating my sheep or your kids are okay outside). The shed by the house has bikes and the area only has gentle rolling hills, so I recommend a ride. If you want to ride horses, we can talk about it. The house is completely surrounded by pasture. There may be sheep and goats right outside. They don't smell or make noise -- they aren't that close. You are welcome to go in the field and pet them, say hello. The ponies may also be around, or in the fields just a few feet away. The animals have babies in the spring and that is lovely. We rotate them on different fields during the year, so you may or may not be surrounded by them but they are always pretty close by. In the winter, we have as much firewood as you'd like. Please be extremely careful and talk to us about fire in the house. Quite cozy, but, of course, potentially hazardous. Critters: This is an old house in the country. Mice do come in the house in the fall although you are unlikely to notice them. It's possible some ladybugs will emerge from the windows. Other flying and crawling things will be in the area, outside and maybe even inside from time to time. If this information about the usually very gentle and harmless but not completely and totally tamed local environment causes you to panic, you should probably look elsewhere.
Hello and welcome to the barn guesthouse. My family and I (Will) have lived in the hamlet of Stuyvesant Falls since 2004, moving from Brooklyn, and my mother Susanna move here from Vermont in 2015, next door. The barn that is renovated is on the 5 acre property with Susanna’s house and we have 15 acres next door. The pond is on our property, the garden and barn guesthouse are on my mother’s, but basically it’s all connected. We own sheep, chickens and ponies (plus many dogs and a few cats). Please say hello them. We also have bikes, canoes, inner tubes, ice skates, cross country skis and kayaks and pick up truck and all of that can mean a lot of fun, and we’d be happy to loan items out, but we need to plan in advance. Depending on ages and sizes, we may need to rent bikes until we can get more good bikes available for guests, depending on interest. There is a local swimming hole, but again we need to show you where it is, then you can go on your own. Local towns: Hudson is a city of extremes, with lots of investment, and housing projects. The media like to write about it. The occasional rock star, etc., plus tons of local life and cool stuff, as below. The town of Chatham is usual for being normal. Some of the Massachusetts towns are exceedingly fancy, some of the New York towns can be run down, other towns, like Hudson, are unique, but Chatham is just nice, normal, with plenty of great stuff without being too perfect and not expensive without being rundown and shabby. My opinion, of course. Plus, it’s a rural town with lots of city people on summer weekends. Kinderhook/Valatie neighborhood includes a lot of people who commute to Albany every day, changing the culture of the town. Philmont is close to the Waldorf School Hawthorne Valley and while the Rudolf Steiner/Anthroposophical philosophy is not everyone’s cup of tea, that community, centered in and around Philmont, makes the village is something special in America, although the casual visitor might not realize. The world’s most beautiful farm is there (well maybe that’s an exaggeration) but it’s a real working farm and they are pretty busy, Threshold. The roads back behind High Falls are gorgeous. Copake, Hillsdale, etc. etc. Greenport is kind of a strip mall and not a pretty one. Stuyvesant Landing: the cafe restaurant is great with stunning views. Nutten Hook/Ice House is historic and trails and canoeing is good. If you want to jump out of the canoe, I would suggest the Stockport Creek, also very near by. Hudson has an Amtrak station, many antique shops, restaurants, the Hudson Opera House, TSL, Basilica Industria, Club Helsinki, Spotty Dog Books and Bar. I like the cruelty-free diner with excellent local meat, Grazin’ Acres, with the cows from Kinderhook Farm on your way to Chatham, back roads. Swoon and Crimson Sparrow are great for fine dining -- and it gets finer in Hudson, Farmer and Sons and Fish and Game -- or good pizza a Baba Louies (a lot less fine, but still fine). Farmer’s market. Chatham has McCadden theater and PS 21 and a great movie theater (beautiful 1920s restored). The Pub has new owners. The brewery, Chatham beer, is great. Ron’s bike shop it top notch. The town park Crellin has a pond you can swim in and trails next to a creek, in addition to all sports, tennis, skateboard, playgrounds. You should also go to Borden Pond to walk around and Ooms Pond is stunning. Kinderhook. Farmer’s market. The Flammerie is nice as a restaurant. The cafe in the center of town is good with ice cream. Winter: Fire is obviously serious business! The wood stove must be operated with great care, please. Never remove anything from the stove (ashes, wood, etc). We’ll do that. Put only wood and paper in there. Always make sure the doors are securely closed when you go to bed or out of the house. Try the handle out before starting the fire, when it’s cold, wiggle it and see if you can securely close the doors. If you want to have the doors open to look at the fire, put up the screen and keep an eye out for anything falling out of the stove. There is a fire extinguish on the mantle behind the stove. • Will was a great host, and the farmhouse is a great place. The stay was pleasant and the accommodations were really great. Nothing like sitting by the fire, playing piano, and eating good food. Minutes from Hudson which has all of the provisions we needed for a great weekend of cooking, eating and being merry!

  • This place is the perfect getaway! A true renovated barn with incredible charm in a wonderful location - the house is surrounded by large fields and friendly animals. Hudson city is a short drive away and full of great restaurants and shops. The host Will was very easy to communicate with and made our check in/check out super easy. I highly recommend it!

    Eléonore2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a nice quiet space to spend the last days of summer and Wills place delivered. The kids loved reading to and feeding the sheep and ponies and we lived the proximity to swimming holes and good food in Hudson. My husband was nervous about the temperature over night but the barn is perfectly outfitted with fans that we never had to turn the AC on! It was a lot of fun, we sat by the fire pit every night!

    Missy2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful and cozy space, then Will’s home is the place. Our family had complete privacy, and Will was nearby if we had any questions. The grazing sheep in the field next door were lovely neighbors during our stay, and there was plenty to do in the area. We had a great time and hope to return in the winter.

    Christine2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't be more pleased with our accomodations at Will's barn. It's set off the road and spacious inside. The loft was easy to access, even though my husband and I are older adults. It just had a wonderful, peaceful feeling inside, with the rustic beams and woodstove. The rain shower is a hoot, with its "steaming pots" amongst the plants. It's in a central location, easy to get to interesting places within the Catskills. Make sure you check out Art Omi, with its captivating outdoor art installations and beautiful grounds. We always loved coming "home" to our restful retreat. We did have an unexpected problem during our stay, but Will handled it quickly and professionally and for that we will always be grateful.

    Carla2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved being surrounded by the sheep and our kids absolutely loved it too! At this time of year the sun is up super bright And early and our kids were up with the sun, and had trouble going to sleep until it got dark, so if you have small kids like ours just be wary. This obviously is no reflection on Will and the space, just our early rising children. Will was very responsive and great! About 15-20 min drive to Chatham or Hudson with great restaurants and hiking/parks. We'd go back again but without kids next time.

    Diandra2019-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the barn. The entire place is beautiful and well decorated; the shower especially was a treat. Would highly recommend for a peaceful vacation. The location was also super convenient for lots of delicious local reataurants and great hikes. Will definitely visit again.

  • If you are looking for an airbnb experience that includes hanging out with tons of friendly, cute animals, do not hesitate to book this place. Will and his family are present and nearby and very accommodating. The barn is at the heart of a lively family farm and you will witness the many goings-on. The space itself is comfortable and cozy, and the renovated silo shower is super cool. We had a great time :)

Upstairs apt. a three-unit house. Steps from restaurants, bakery, brewery, pub, movie theater, food co-op, community center, bookstores, boutiques, musical theater, bike shop. Near Ooms pond, Crellin park (creek, pond, sports, playground, etc), and Borden pond. 20-30 miles from Hudson, Berkshires, Tanglewood, state parks. Skiing nearby at Jiminy Peak, Butternut, and Catamount. Parking in alley off Park Row or street. Common outside spaces and laundry. Occasional train whistle and church bells.
The two bedroom apartment has hardwood floors, brand-new custom rustic kitchen, original art in every room, 24 hour access, easy parking. Chatham is an old whistle stop town and the train still blows through.
Chatham.Haus is in the dead center of the village of Chatham. The village is so small, there are also very country roads right around the corner that you can get to on foot. It's a very quiet neighborhood but there are quite a few choices in terms of restaurants just a few steps away.
  • Great apartment, great stay. Will was very responsive. Would definitely book again.

  • Will’s place is very cozy and filled with interesting works of art. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend, with comfy beds and amazing shampoo that I ordered when I got home. The location was incredible with an amazing gluten free bakery down the block. Town was walkable with cute shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a shared entryway that we were confused about but the downstairs neighbor very kindly showed us in. If we are in the area we would definitely go back!

  • We had a lovely stay at Will’s place in Chatham. The apartment is steps away from Main Street. Getting to and from restaurants and the local watering hole was a piece of cake. The apartment was clean, tidy and there was an air conditioner for the bedroom. The kitchen was also stocked with coffee, tea and mugs which was appreciated. Would definitely come again.

  • Will’s place is located in the quaint town of Chatham and you can walk to restaurants, local bars, cute shops etc. It’s got a great large bathtub and comfortable bed. Will had great local tips and was quick with communication. Just for future travelers, Monday’s & Tuesday’s a lot of restaurants/shops aren’t open and if they are, they are not open very late so make sure you plan accordingly on those days. A lot more going on in town Wednesday through the weekend. Great quiet getaway! Definitely recommend.

    Vikram2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Wendy and Charley are the most thoroughly thoughtful hosts. Their home is a lovely mix of eclectic antiques and fun furnishings. The room and bathroom are charming, and reflect the sweet personality of the hosts. From the in room Kuerig and snacks to the luxurious soaps and shampoos you will feel comfortable and pampered! The view of the Hudson from the front porch is marvelous, a great place to enjoy a glass of wine. There are several good places to eat nearby too, but the location of the home is quiet and relaxing.

Their hospitality and attention to every detail made this a destination we would look forward to visiting again. The atmosphere is casual, warm and most inviting. They are sincere and attentive hosts. We were made to feel at home in every way and can recommend this location without qualification.

The town of Stockport had 7 active water powered mills in the 19th century which are all gone or converted to homes. It is a sleepy bedroom community and this house is secluded and apart from the town. The rapids in front of the home were used by Native Americans for fishing. Access to the creek is available if you are interested, 2 miles north in Stuyvesant falls where is the town swimming hole below the dam. OMI Art is close by, as are "The School" Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook, NY. We are 10 minutes from Hudson with its art/antique shopping and restaurants.
  • We loved staying at Jeff and Juan’s. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and cozy. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. The plants throughout the house are an extra touch and provide a very relaxing environment. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Jeff and Juan's home is a sweet sanctuary. The entire space has been carefully crafted with detailed decorative attention and lots of love. Expect to arrive and not ever want to leave! For all the cooks out there: the kitchen is fully packed with everything you need to make special meals not to mention beautiful dinner and silverware sets that pair perfectly with the kitchens cozy decor. There is plenty of lounge space and bathrooms are fully packed with essentials. Bedrooms are the most comfortable and the entire place is spotlessly clean. It was a perfect stay! Jeff and Juan are fantastic hosts and my friends and I will be going back soon!

    Stephanie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house is just perfect is you want to be surrounded by nature. The peaceful sound of the river next door creates such a calming environment. The house is very charming, well decorated and equipped with everything you need. It actually doesn't feel at all like a renting house but more like a real home. Jeff is an adorable host who will do anything to help you have the best time. I have forgotten my trekking shoes and when he and I realized we were the same size, he did not land me one but three pairs so I could enjoy walk in the beautiful countryside! The only small downside is the distance with Hudson if you want to go out for dinner as it is a 15-20min drive.

  • Jeff & Juan’s place is perfectly set up for a quiet few days away from the hustle of busy life. The decor is thoughtfully curated, the plant life provides a great surrounding, and the to top it off communication with our hosts was easy. We will definitely be back!

  • What a wonderful home! We really enjoyed our stay in this stylish, comfortable space and can’t wait to return. Jeffrey is a perfect host, was very quick to respond, and was super friendly. I cooked a big meal for my family of 7 who came for dinner and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. The house is spotless, the beds cozy and the location by the rapids is beautiful and relaxing. We loved it!

  • My wife and two young kids -- with grandparents in tow -- had an ideal experience for a quiet Thanksgiving respite. Jeff was on hand to answer any questions we had. The cottage is stylish, comfy, friendly, spotless, and convenient to Hudson and the surrounding areas.

This charming two-story Cape Cod style home is located in the historic village of Kinderhook (known for the Dutch and for President Martin van Buren). There are two bedrooms available, rented/posted separately. Both rooms are on the second floor and share a bathroom with each other. This posting is for one of the two bedrooms. Guests have access to all common areas including the large backyard. There is ample parking. An effortless getaway combining modern convenience and upstate charm.
In addition to the two comfortable bedrooms and shared full bath, the home has nice common and dining areas. The full kitchen has a refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher and assorted appliances including a coffeemaker and electric hot water kettle. There are ample dishes and food preparation cookware. The backyard has a deck with a table and six chairs.
Kinderhook is a lovely small village near Hudson, with a marvelous family farm (Samascott’s), a fine art gallery (The School), a terrific German restaurant (The Flammerie), a wine bar (Dyad), a craft beers/artisan cheese/charcuterie eaterie (Saisonniere), a bagel shop, a Saturday farmers market (summer only), a fully outfitted public library with WiFi, and more! There is much to explore in the area - history, farming, culture. Hiking and biking are very popular.
  • The home was pristine, absolutely beautiful inside and in a perfect quiet neighborhood. This city-dweller loved looking up at the stars! The home is spacious with beautiful touches and Mary is a wonderful host!

  • Mary's place is beautifully designed and sparkling clean. The rooms are airy, the beds are comfortable, and there are welcoming touches everywhere. The location is also terrific: it's a short, pleasant walk to downtown Kinderhook, and a number of wonderful small towns are less than an hour away (we visited Hudson, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and Millbrook on the New York side, and Lenox and Stockbridge on the Massachusetts side). Mary is responsive and lovely to deal with. Highly recommend.
