  • Amazing spot with a huge back yard that backs up to the river. Cozy clean guest house, and joe’s blow torch weeding in the back yard was awesome to watch. Recommend to anyone for a quiet get away on some beautiful quiet property.

  • Very easy check in. Property is beyond beautiful. They left bagels, coffee, tea, and yogurt for a light breakfast. Fireplace, deck, hot tub, golfing equipment, books, movies, bathroom items- all were clean and convenient. Very quiet area. Super relaxing. Would definitely stay here again!

  • We have been staying in Airbnb locations since 2010 from the East coast to the West Coast and this was the nicest unit we have ever stayed in (5 Stars all the way). Superior décor, great amenities, unbelievable local tips, super host and great location and setting for Willamette Valley wineries.

  • I was in town for an interview, and so didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked enjoying the place and the area. That being said, my stay here was terrific. The space is really great and Susan and Joe were wonderful as well. They were right on top of providing all of the information, and very quickly responded to all of my messages. Definitely recommend!

  • Great little place to stay in a nice town and beautiful area. They have appointed it with everything you could ever need which was lovely. I stayed there with a coworker which ended up feeling a little close, especially with the bathroom having a curtain instead of a door. With a partner it would be fine.

    Jo2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very inviting and clean tiny house near everything and just 10 minutes from Salem.

    Nathan2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Bill is a great host and his tiny house has everything you need in a cozy and well designed interior. Externally you have deer, squirrels, chickens, roosters and two adorable dogs all in a quaint green space location to make your stay very memorable. Independence is a nice little town with lots of eateries and things to do there or a great springboard for other local attractions/views that you have on your vacation list. =)

  • This tiny house was fantastic! Very clean and thoughtful touches. Great location to local wineries, and right in a quaint town. My dog loved the big backyard and entertaining chickens. We’d love to stay here again.

    Amy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome and absolutely exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend and I stayed there after visiting some vineyards in the area. There were so many small touches and things that Bill did to make our stay perfect. We're really glad we took this route over a hotel! It made for a much more special time than anything else would have.

  • This was such a cute house! You could tell there was a lot of work put towards the decor. With five bedrooms it was a great fit for our family. One bedroom is on the floor for anyone that may be handicapped and cannot walk up the stairs. The littles girls room was adorable.

Walking distance from downtown Independence and Riverview Park. Comfortable, homey room in quiet neighborhood.
I have made a little eden, full of fragrant flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables in my backyard. The front yard is also landscaped with a myriad of plants that attract hummingbirds, and butterflies. My home is tastefully decorated, with a homey feel. The queen bed is very comfortable to ensure a good night's sleep. The neighborhood is located in a new subdivision, is quiet and family oriented. A lovely public garden is only a block away and is a pleasant walk.
The neighborhood is quite new and located close to Riverview Park which hosts a plethora of events. WOU is only a couple miles away. There is a mix of families in the surrounding houses, some with kids, singles, and retired couples. All are very respectful and quiet.
  • Wonderful Place. Very Nice Host.

    Kenneth2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This comfy bedroom located at the front of a home has its own bathroom and offers a very comfortable space. It is someone’s home, so there are comings and goings, and there is a kitty. Lorena went out of her way to accommodate my late arrival from Portland as well as my missing luggage. Nice safe neighborhood. Would definitely stay there again!

  • Lorena is an awesome host with a beautiful home! Top of the line everything. I have a favorite place to choose now when I visit my son.

    Carolyn2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, easy to find, easy to check-in and wonderful privacy for a room in the home!

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay there. Lorena was very hospitable and checked up on us periodically to make sure we were comfortable or if we needed anything. This being the first time we have used an AirBnB, we were not sure what to expect or what was expected of us. She made us feel welcomed in her home with great conversation!

  • Wonderful space, especially for dogs! The house was very clean and comfortable, and had great amenities (breakfast, nice shampoo/conditioner, etc). The spa/deck is shared with the owners and another guest unit on the property, so some coordinating was necessary for privacy. Overall it was a wonderful stay and great for our wine tasting/valentine’s day weekend.

Conveniently located just outside the quaint town of Independence.

We owners of "The Little Blue House” which is 1.2 miles from Salem Hospital have reduced our regular rate drastically to accommodate medical personnel who come here to work during the Covid19 pandemic or for people coming to visit relatives affected. Sadly, we can't have anyone stay for free but if you need to stay close to Salem Hospital, please consider The Little Blue House as your base. We will practice social distancing guidelines but still are close by for questions. No pets, please.
Our little house is all newly renovated. The spa like bathroom and funky industrial kitchen will make you happy. A memory foam queen bed will lull you to sleep. Enjoy the big living room surrounded by Oregon decor. A full sized washer and dryer are ready for your use. Head out to the patio in nice weather!
Within walking distance of the Oregon State Capitol and Park, Deepwood Estate and Gardens (1893) Bush House Museum (1878) the Willamette Heritage Center with houses to tour including the Jason Lee House, the oldest wood frame house in Oregon (1840-41) and the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill museum and Willamette University (founded in 1842). Blocks from Salem's historic downtown with restaurants and shops galore. City parks host festivals such as "The World Beat" and "Bush Park Art Fair and Festival" and the State Fair is the last week of August annually.
  • We enjoyed our stay at the little blue house. It was very really clean and quaint. We loved the location! The internet was very fast considering both my husband and I worked periodically from the house and both of us were on VPNs. Norma and Pete communicated well and were great hosts. We would stay here again for sure.

    Cassandra2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little cottage in Salem, Oregon. Norma and Pete's place is newly renovated and was the perfect choice for our visit to Salem, Oregon. It's clean and decorated with lots of interesting Oregon memorabilia. The living room is open and inviting, the bedroom is cozy and comfortable, the kitchen is bright and decorated with colorful and fun touches. Norma met us at check-in and was lovely. We were visiting family in Salem, and this cottage was perfect for my husband and I. It is close to the supermarket, downtown Salem is a few minutes by car and its centrally located for any trips to the coast, the mountains, the waterfalls or a day in Portland. We loved this cottage and hated to leave.

  • The Little Blue House is so cozy. It was spotless. The bed is extra comfortable. I don't know what kind of mattress it is, but it's the best I've ever slept on. The Little Blue House is very cute and just feels right. I loved relaxing here at the end of a busy day. The grocery store is a convenient walk away. The neighborhood is very peaceful. Everything important in Salem is close to this house. I will stay here again on future visits to Salem.

Come enjoy the beauty of the willamette valley and stay in a one of kind, rustic tiny home, made partially out of cob (a natural building material composed of subsoil, water, and straw). You can head down to the boat launch a block and half away for a river adventure, go wine tasting at the many wineries in the area, or simply enjoy the beautiful gardens and a soak in the hot tub. Check us out on Instagram @buenavistahouse
the space hosts a small kitchen area with a toaster oven, induction double burner, mini fridge, coffee and tea There is a pull out futon if you are two guests but require two different beds. If you inform me I will pull it out and make the bed. There is a 20$ cleaning fee for this. hot tub outdoor and indoor shower a large sun deck a fire pit (wood can be made available upon request) The fire place in the house is not usable at this time you may feel free to roam the gardens. In warm weather there is a hammock and several tables you may relax at. as it is an eco friendly building there is an incinerating toilet instead of a traditional water flushing toilet. the toilet is lined with a paper insert and when flushed and the button is pushed....poof... it gets incinerated. most of the time there is no smell however there is a fan which circulates air outside that you may turn on for your comfort. If you are uncomfortable using this method another easily accessible toilet is available upon request.
Buena vista was one of the earliest settlements in Oregon and was well known for its pottery and hop growing. It later fell into decline after being bypassed by the railroad. The Buena vista ferry which was established many years ago is still in operation today. you can cross it by foot or by car or simply stop by and pick up an ice cream. Another thing to enjoy in the neighborhood is the flower shop on the corner where the honor system is still alive. Pick up a beautiful bouquet beautifully curated by Mary and drop your money in the mail slot. If you enjoy a bit of history there is a gravel road you can follow to the graveyard and find many old tombstones and a nice look of the valley on the hill. There are several river hikes within 5 minutes of the rental......South luckiamute and north luckiamute.. if you keep following buena vista road. If you are interested I can give you more detailed directions.
  • Very unique and beautiful tiny home. We stayed during an unusual cold snap at the end of November, so it got pretty cold at night (into the 20's) but we were prepared as Kristy had contacted us over a week before letting us know that heating might be an issue and giving us the option of canceling. We decided to brave it and we still used the hot tub and enjoyed ourselves. Would love to come back in a warmer season and see the gardens and enjoy opening the windows in the house!

    Jamie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • It was perfect

    Anthony2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kristy's place is absolutely magical. It was so beautiful, spacious, and remarkably clean. There were so many thoughtful details and touches, Kristy has truly thought of everything! The bed was super comfortable, the hot tub was the perfect size, and the whole place felt like an exotic get away. She even provided these super comfortable robes that we loved lounging in! The house is gorgeous and so detailed. I want her style tips! My boyfriend and I were celebrating a weekend away for our 2 year anniversary and this place absolutely blew us away. If you are hesitating booking this place, do it now! You will not be disappointed. I only wish we could have stayed for a whole week! I can't wait to go back. Thank you again Kristy, we felt so lucky to get to stay here!

    Meredith2019-11-24T00:00:00Z

  • Christa was available when we needed her, but gave us plenty of privacy. We could leave the windows open and not feel like anyone would even notice us. I took a walk a few miles out from the house and watched the sun rise on lovely little farms. The place was clean but not uncomfortably perfect. We felt like home. Was so nice having the washer and dryer since we stayed almost a week. We will be back.

  • This is a great spot. I rented it for my parents who were in town for an extended stay and they really enjoyed it. The cleanliness of the location was immediately obvious, and my Mom (who has an eye for these things) was very impressed with the layout of the living room and kitchen. Muttley's Cottage was far enough back from Monmouth Avenue and the building's envelope was of high enough quality that almost no road noise was heard. That combined with the comfortable bed made for easy sleeping. While we only had one question of the host during the trip, after I texted I heard back within two minutes. While I don't leave reviews like this at most rentals, given the quality of both the location and host in this case I felt compelled to do so.

  • The cottage was so cute and had plenty of space for 5 guests! We had a busy weekend with wedding festivities, and didn’t get to spend a lot of time in the cottage but we are already planning a return trip!

  • We only stayed one night. The bungalow is sparkly clean, spacious and close to downtown Independence! The bungalow comfortably fit all four of us and we would be very happy to return!

  • Cute, comfortable, well-equipped cottage with great "extras." Our family of 4 (which includes 2 teenagers) stayed for 2 nights while in the area for a wedding and didn't spend a great deal of time in the cottage itself, but we noted that the kitchen seemed to have everything a traveller would need. They even had special things like coffee and tea (and biscuits!) that made us feel especially welcome. Washer/dryer, iron, and clothing steamer all came in handy! It seemed to have been relatively recently renovated (or just incredibly well-kept), it was impeccably clean, and had all the comforts and necessities of home. Great stay and super easy check-in. Thanks Christa!

  • We stayed at Angela’s place for five nights while spending time with our new grandson and his parents . The house is convenient to Independence’s cute downtown and to many wineries in the area. The size of the house was great for two people. Angela was responsive to our initial questions and to those we had while we were there.

  • Host and Owners were very warm and inviting. Helpful and considerate. Felt genuine the whole time. Place was sparkling clean and quiet. Location couldn't have been betterGreat water pressure. Fantastic views. Breakfast was a step above most, but still lower than restaurant quality. (This is the 21st century norm and to be expected wherever you stay now) The kitchen uses elevator #2 as it always smelled like broccoli or bacon. I was not told when I booked the room that the hot tub would be unavailable. This was a main selling point on the listing. Keep in my mind, I booked within the week. If I had booked a month or two out, that would be understandable. As it was, I felt lied to.

The bed is super comfy with a great assortment of pillow choices. And the coffee bar is off the charts!! If your in the Monmouth/Independence area this space is a must stay. You will not be disappointed.

  • This was my first opportunity to try AirBNB. Terri absolutely lives up to the description of being a superhost. I can't say enough about both her place - which was outstanding - and the host and property manager - who were both very responsive, available and thoughtful. The place is immaculate and very well furnished - even the kitchen is well stocked. The bed was comfortable, the sitting room/office area overlooked an awesome back yard - very soothing. Every question I had was answered very quickly. Very nice personal touches...especially the plants. I would recommend Terri's place to anyone (and actually have already). I hope to go back again someday. Awesome experience!

Welcome. Need a place for a night or two or week or more? This may be right for you. It's about 2/3 of the house (separate entrance leads to a private bedroom and bath, living and dining rooms, and a shared kitchen). I welcome people from the LGBQT community as well as people from other cultures. The house is located in a quiet, well-established neighborhood. If you're in town for a wedding, workshop, training, or business, this may be the perfect place.

She had lots of kitchen things I didn’t take full advantage of, but I enjoyed the granola bars :-) Also, I run cold and really appreciated the electric blanket, extra blanket, and space heater.

From recommendations for restaurant’s to furniture stores Susan was not only a great host but a great guide as well. I can’t recommend staying here enough.

Susan supplied us with a variety of breakfast items to choose from and she was friendly. We also had fun giving some pets to Susan’s little dog Ari. This was a cozy place to stay.

My house was fixed up inside and out before I bought it so everything is brand new. It is a 20 minute walk to downtown Salem and 5 minutes by bicycle. I-5 is a 10 minute drive. Smoking allowed outside. (I don't smoke though.) Please, pretty please, close doors quietly. There is a Golden Retriever here and she loves people. If you really don't like dogs it will be a problem. Her name is Jadzia and her throne is the living room recliner :-)
There is a movie projector in the guest room and you are welcome to use it. I always have popcorn :-) You are free to use the kitchen and laundry room. And no, your "friend" cannot come over and spend the night. I've done this for years, I've heard them all ;-) Same thing about "service dogs". I'll know. Just be honest, ok?
Shops and restaurants are within 20 minutes walking. State capital building and Willamette University is here too.
  • Lars’ home is warm and inviting. He is very easy to be with, and I enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable, warm, and quiet. His golden retriever puppy, Jadzia, very much the lady of the house. She is sweet, rambunctious, and entertaining - I loved her! But if you aren’t a dog fan, stay elsewhere. The location was perfect for my quick trip to Willamette University to visit my son. I would definitely stay with him again next time I’m in Salem.

  • Elizabeth provides a comfortable and warm place to stay. She provides so much from all the toiletries you could possibly need to a microwave oven, personal refrigerator, dishes, utensils, etc. There is coffee and tea in your room and fresh baked quick bread, fruit, water and extra coffee, etc in the hallway. The refrigerator is stocked with yogurts and water and there is oatmeal and popcorn provided as well. The rooms are very clean. I love the sitting area where there is a fireplace and a wine bar with comfortable seating. I sat there for a while one evening sipping on Irish cream and just enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. This is all so amazing for the price. What a great value. What a great place to stay.

This room inspires with it's writing desk, musical instruments and sight of the book-laden porch. It is located in the front of our home with a door opening onto the sitting room. Room darkening curtains also allow for mornings of sleeping in. The bed is a comfortable, futon from IKEA, allowing two people to spent the night comfortably. There is space enough for a doggie, if your friend travels with you. We are registered with a City of Salem License adhering to their safety standards.
This is a 1925 Craftsman home that has stood the test of time. Settled in an older part of Salem, the house has a charm and comfort for most to enjoy. The house sits on a double lot, leaving lots of room to play and enjoy the outside on nice days. We have a front sun porch, sitting space on the back yard patio and a secluded lounging area with fire pit (and PLENTY of wood).
We love our neighbors and our neighborhood. Tree-lined streets, sidewalks, and quiet. We love how central it is to most things in Salem. And we love how central Salem is to most things in western Oregon. The neighborhood and Salem is overall very safe but cars have had things disappear when people forget to lock!
  • Wonderful hospitality, fantastic location, unique home - and i loved the back yard! I have a service dog who rarely gets to be off leash when we travel. Christy and Arnaud were accommodating and kind - and their dog was a joy! They were very responsive. I will return. Thank you!

This Brand new space is 600 sq ft of quality, comfort, and beauty.

  • Location was great, you have privacy with a 10 minute drive to food or coffee. The view is spectacular. What you see is what you get. Fridge and coffee maker, so your basic needs are met. Although it's small, the open floor plan was perfect for the two of us.

  • Leon’s place is luxe and super close to the wineries. We enjoyed our stay and recommend Leon’s place. As others have noted, there is no kitchen, but there is a mini fridge and pod coffee maker. Peaceful and beautiful space with high ceilings and nice views out the bedroom and sitting room.

  • Superb style and charm! This guesthouse is the perfect blend of rustic elegance in a peaceful setting with tranquil grounds & vistas. Morning coffee on the east facing porch basking in the sun on a lovely early spring day.... ahhhhhh!

  • Incredibly cute and trendy place! Comfy bed w/ Netflix and Hulu available. Felt safe and private, even being fairly close to the main house. Nice shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap in bathroom. Coffee, sugar, and creamer in room. A few breakfast items in fridge too...nice touch.

The perfect place to keep you and loved ones safe during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Shelter in place in a rural setting in unique luxury in the heart of Oregon Wine Country! Located in a grove of mature Oak trees on 5.5 acres in the Eola Amity Hills AVA, minutes away from several award winning wineries. Private, large living area with a fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom and bathroom with shower. Minutes from downtown Salem. NO CONTACT CHECK IN!
Quotes from recent guest reviews: "I told my husband I booked a yurt! He gave me “the look”... I convinced him to trust me and embrace adventure! Check in was a breeze! A quick code accessed a key and we stepped into a unique oasis that did not disappoint! My picky husband now wants to buy a yurt for himself! The yurt features all the comforts of a modern home with serene landscaping and ultimate privacy! We were thrilled with our stay and we definitely recommend it! I anticipate that we will be booking again soon!" "Our stay was perfect! The yurt is super clean and had all of the amenities you would want. The design of the yurt makes you feel right at home. Their dog on the property is the sweetest and a very welcoming site when we got there. William is a great host, he answered our many questions about the building of the yurt. The location is minutes away from a beautiful wine tasting room and miles of gorgeous countryside. We would definitely come and stay again." "This place is great! Rural location makes for a quiet evening. Nice and warm despite cold temps outside. Loved the full kitchen, and sleeps several with a bed, pull out couch and futon. Love the style of this place with lots of homey touches that make you feel comfortable. The sound of rain on the canvas was music to sleep by."' "This yurt was so luxurious! You'd almost not even know it was a yurt if not for the shape and that delightful sound of rain hitting the roof that everyone else is talking about. The bed was very cozy, the kitchen well appointed, and it's a great use of space." "Shady Oaks, was a calm and wonderful stay." "Bed was super soft, and it was easy to cook in the kitchen with the spices , oil, and pans that were provided."
The property is in the middle of natural Western Oregon woodlands and wildlife is abundant. Signs of dear, racoons, skunks, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, owls, hawks, and eagles are common. Please feel free to observe from the property but do not venture into the woods, if you do you will likely be rewarded with a good case of poison oak as it is everywhere!
  • Don't even hesitate staying at the yurt. It was very clean and comfortable. It was stocked with tons of spices and oil, pots, pans, dishes, and toiletries. I didn't see a hair dryer. The yurt warmed up nicely after the heat was on a little while and stayed that way. Nights were in the low 40's. The bed was VERY comfortable to us. Please note: Wi-Fi is quite adequate. William put in a booster while we were there. We watched Netflix and Prime through the Blu-ray player. We loved our stay.

  • This place was very clean and comfortable, and warm which one might not expect from a yurt. We had every we needed in the kitchen with lots of thoughtful touches. Judy and Bill were friendly and welcoming but also gave us plenty of space. Their communication was prompt and thorough. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Jenna2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Yurt at Shady Oaks was such a cute place to stay! The yurt had everything a regular home would have which made it a really comfortable stay, but more fun because of the fact it was a yurt and just a different type of Airbnb experience! The place felt very spacious and it was nice to have outdoor space as well, which our dog especially enjoyed!

    Betsy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The space was open and had good lighting. The heaters kept the place nice and warm. Great little hideaway, and George (my dog) had a wonderful time running around the property.

    Lea2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Went here for valentines weekend with my fiance. Was a great relaxing place with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the scenery. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • This yurt was so luxurious! You'd almost not even know it was a yurt if not for the shape and that delightful sound of rain hitting the roof that everyone else is talking about. The bed was very cozy, the kitchen well appointed, and it's a great use of space. The Wi-Fi really only works in the living room, so if that's a concern for you that is something to be aware of. They are friendly, the property is lovely, and Lana, their dog, couldn't be cuter. It's convenient to wine country, and everything you could need is just down the road in West Salem. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat

  • Very cute and cozy space. Stayed at the end of January and we found ourselves quite toasty. Nice quiet location. We really enjoyed having a full kitchen. They were very thoughtful and brought some spare towels to wipe out dog's feet off. We definitely plan on staying here again!

Over 1000 SF! Sunny and bright two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, large living room, creekside condo just blocks from downtown Salem. Wonderful view of historic Mill Creek and large balcony overlooking the creek. Reserved parking . With the creek view, you feel like you are camping but with the convenience of being in the City Center. Well Behaved Pets ARE WELCOME! You are 6 blocks (10 minutes) from the state capital and if you go up 1 block (east) to Historic Cottage street you will walk buy many historic homes and then into the Capital gardens which is my favorite way to approach the capital building. You are 5-6 blocks from Macys and Salem Center mall which is the northers end of the old downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. You can also walk a bit further west and go to the park and carousel along the Willammette River, take the pedestrian bridge over to Minto Island park or a favorite of mine is to take the old railroad trestle (NOW a pedestrian walkway) over the river to the park on the other side which is a short walk to a great Grocery store (Roths Fresh Market) with a awesome Deli and salad bar and KILLER local wine selection. Also in that shopping center is a starbucks so it makes for a nice walk! You are in the downtown area and though it is very safe (the new police station is being built only 4 blocks away), this is a metro area and there are two homeless support facilities in the downtown area so you will see the people they support. We have never had any issues or any of our guests but it is a part of life in many west coast cities. We have a SMART Roku TV and high speed internet. The TV has apps on it for all popular streaming services that you can use your account with (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, You Tube Premium) as well as many free apps for different types of TV. We try to keep costs down by not having normal cable. If you do not have a login for Netflix and would like one please message me and I will get you a guest account to use during your stay!

Being close to downtown is an added bonus - my husband and our Boston Terrier, Rosie, often join me and we enjoy the closeness of town and work. The condo is clean, comfortable, well-stocked with everything we need and plus a deck with a view of Mill Creek. We will definitely return!

The Bunk Room is on the front of the house upstairs, and is designed for youth. It has a futon and also comfy bunk beds for any age. It has a shared bathroom with hostess, that is down the hall. It is priced for increased affordability.
The Tasco House is a large old craftsman home turning 100 years old in 2015, in a town with real people who talk to each other and where multiple cafes cover the few blocks that is the center of town. A town by the same name as the guest home, Taxco, Guerrero MEXICO (pronounced ‘Tasco’), is the town Janine’s grandmother lived where her door was open to the hungry wanderer, and where kids were treated as people.
Independence is reportedly at the end of the Oregon trail, on the banks of Willamette River, becoming before our eyes Oregon’s next secret hang-out. It has an unpretentious and relaxed quality to it that is unique and completely non-tourist. We are as close to the river as we are to the train that passes two blocks from the house, with a 12-mile canoe ride to Salem, open year round. Great biking routes . There is swimming, but you have to be careful of the currents. The average year-round temperature is in the 50's F, with sunny summers and rainy winters. •Across the street from theTasco House is Riggs Auto, where Rick the mechanic restores vintage cars and trucks. •One block away is the Pink House, a cute Victorian café with breakfast, lunch and dinner, prideful in the freshness of its food, to be enjoyed in cozy rooms, a front porch or a courtyard terrace. •El Mechànico is a converted gasoline station into a hip bar with outdoor seating and fire pits . . . in wine country. •Wine vineyards strew the countryside. •Independence is one of the most productive areas for growing hops, with Rogue Ale and Spirits having a farm and tasting room a short bike ride away. •It has a small Mexican grocery store, an art gallery, a movie theater, several places to eat, .50 cent beef or cheese tacos on Friday nights at the Arena bar, you can get ice cream at The Golden Horse where you can hear all you ever wanted to know about the area, and more, from the old-timer nick-named Dutch, there's the friendly and professional Umpqua Bank, a kid’s playground, an amphitheater with Friday concerts and Thursday movie nights in the summer near a water fountain, a library one block away, a used book store and consignment shop a few blocks away, a post office and city hall a few blocks away, some houses, and not a lot more. •It is a very quiet city, as cities go; few sirens, low crime rate, no yelling or disruptive behaviors that we have heard. It is more noisy for someone used to living in remote areas of nature, and especially quiet if you are coming from a larger city. It takes about 5 minutes to drive through the center of town, and that’s if you are driving slowly. Monmouth, 5 minutes away, has larger grocery stores, a hardware store, more restaurants, etc. Salem, 20 minutes away, has Enterprise Car Rental with its service of pick-up and drop off to Independence, as well as other large city conveniences. Corvallis is 1/2 hour away with an expansive farmer's market, natural food stores, arts connections, and more. Independence is a town of less than 9,000 people, with the ocean one hour west, the Cascade Mountain Range one hour East, Portland one hour north and Eugene one and a half hours south. Its central location makes for a soulful place to rest one’s head and heart when wanting to explore diverse areas in Oregon. Bend and the desert is 2-3 hours south. Willamette Valley rural countryside-driving has waterfalls, rivers, streams, fields, farmland, distant mountains, and natural beauty, easily accessible. Silver Falls State Park near Silverton is an hour drive away with incredible falls and trails. We are new to the area so guest research will be necessary for getting up-to-date historical local and tourist information.

  • Feels like going back in time to be in this beautiful old house, except it’s perfectly comfortable to modern expectations. Really appreciate how clear and organized everything is. The bunk room was perfect for us as friends not wanting to share a bed. The shared bathroom was no problem at all even though there were other guests - it’s large, clean, plenty of towels, a robe for each guest! We LOVED being able to walk 1-2 blocks to downtown, 1 block from a movie theater, and 1 block from a breakfast café. We hope to return

  • There are not enough words to capture the warmth, hospitality & loveliness of Janine, the host. Her home is equally infused with loveliness and one feels instantly welcome & a sense of ease. The beach room itself is charming, very comfortable, with ample space. The bed is particularly comfy & everything was spotlessly clean. I was beyond blessed to encounter this oasis in the heart of Independence, with a small Main Street dripping with charm. I unreservedly recommend!! 💜

  • Janine's home was perfect for my two month stay as I was finding out what my next step would be moving to Oregon. She really cares that you have everything you need and such a wonderful host. The house and room is a home away from home. So much character and wonderful energy! I'd have stayed for longer if I could. Thanks again, Janine!

  • We really enjoyed how convenient Janine place is, right on the Main Street of downtown Independence. It’s a great old Victorian boarding house. The uniqueness comes from the quirky designs Janine created with tiles and such that adds a whimsical touch to the beach house bathroom. Fun and casual, perfect for an overnight after an event in town.

  • I was lucky enough to stay with Janine in Independence for 3 full months. I cannot express enough how I enjoyed my time. Janine and her home are peaceful, beautiful, and welcoming. Janine's communication is unparalleled. She infuses her home with a beautiful spirit that makes all feel truly at ease. I had to leave earlier than planned due to family illness, Janine was gracious and accommodating to the situation. THANK YOU, JANINE! I hope to return soon. ❤️❤️❤️

  • My stay was short just one night and I had to leave early in the morning. But the house and my room were nice and a bit quirky but in a fun way. Although due to my schedule, I never got to meet the host (Janine), she was great to communicate with via email and was very responsive. The house is only a couple of blocks away from downtown Independence, so it is easy to walk to restaurants, coffee and shops.

  • David’s place is a modest home close to downtown Dallas and outdoor recreation where you can find many fun activities to participate in. My boyfriend and I felt very welcomed and comfortable during our stay. We enjoyed getting to know his friends and roommates and I would consider them our friends now! The bathroom is shared by several people, but it was never occupied for too long and it was always stocked with TP. Dave showed me how to use a French press coffee maker for the first time, showed my boyfriend a natural spring, played frisbee with us, was very personable, and a very hospitable host!

In Central Salem, a cozy guest suite located on the third floor of a charming 1908 home with separate entrance. Walking distance to Salem attractions and amenities. Just the place for a weekend getaway or a weekday work trip.
The guest suite is a charming 650 square foot apartment with a full bathroom and kitchen for your private use. The space has one larger alcoved room that serves as a bedroom with a double bed. A second alcoved space can serve as a workspace with a desk and chair, but also has a single bed if needed. Both of these spaces have closets, but as you'll see in pictures, the rooms do not have standard doors. There are curtains hung in place in the archways that serve as doors, so it is essentially a two-bedroom apartment. The living room couch is a futon that can sleep a smaller person comfortably. The kitchen is well-outfitted for cooking and eating in. It has an oven, fridge, microwave , sink, kettle, toaster and coffee pot. There are dishes, utensils, pots and pans and baking dishes. If you need something specific for making a meal and it’s not already up there, feel free to ask—chances are we can provide it. The bathroom is spacious with a full bathtub and shower. The space has it's own furnace so you can control the temperature settings. There is a freestanding A/C unit for warmer months. Bringing Children: Please send me a message if you are interested in having children stay as there are considerations that I would want to communicate with you before you book.
Our home is centrally located within the downtown Salem area: a few blocks from the State Capitol, the local Farmer's Market, Christo's Pizza, Broadway Coffee, Willamette University, Safeway and within a mile of Salem Hospital, Oregon State Hospital and the train station. We are about 1.5 miles off of I-5. Please note, that because of our wonderful, central location and busy road, you will hear some traffic noise and possibly neighbors from time to time.

Welcome to your Home away from Home! We surrounded by gardens, fields of flowers, vineyards and green pastures. • Huge space, clean and comfortable and great amenities. A real bargain.

    David2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable place to stay. You can definitely hear what's going on upstairs and your area isn't completely separated by a door, but overall no real issues. Don't hesitate to book.

    Jeff2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent for the price especially. So much space and comfort. It was nice being able to park in the driveway!

    Maddie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Bob was very welcoming upon arrival. 10/10. Would recommend.

    Forrest2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • In my opinion, this was the best rental I've had with Airbnb. This is Airbnb done right! Bob and Delia have created a space that is beautifully appointed and extremely clean. The rental included a private bathroom, living area, and bedroom--all with good separation from the rest of the residence. The bed was very comfortable, and thanks to the many wonderful, detailed, and stylish touches, I felt that I had everything I needed. When you walk into the house you are struck by the elegance of the interior design decisions throughout. Although I only needed a place to sleep, it was nice being in such a calming and special space. Due to my schedule, I only had a chance to speak with Bob, but found him to be a very gracious host. I hope to stay at this house again at some point. Bob and Delia, thank you for being such wonderful and diligent hosts!

    Clifford2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • It's refreshing when you meet people that take pride in providing hospitality. Bob & Delia highly excel in Airbnb hosting.

    Daniel2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Delia are one of the most friendly hosts we have met. We are very thankful for their hospitality and the warm receiving. Everything was really clean and there is so much space and a quiet extraordinary equipment!!

Guest cottage located in South Salem on a large wooded lot. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, Banks, Parks, Willamette University and Salem Hospital. The bedroom is upstairs king with a king size bed. The sofa bed that is a double, is on the first floor. When we enter into spring ants are out. If food is left out on counters and tables it will attract ants. I ask guests not to leave food out. Guests who have been conscientious have not had an issue.
The guest Cottage is a separate unit attached to the main home but has a private entrance. My home was built in the 1920s. It is on a acre wooded lot. We have chickens, ducks, tortoises 4 cats and a dog. The animals are in a back area of the property. Only the doggie comes out to visit our guests. Our guest of course are welcome to visit all the animals.
I love my neighborhood. There are parks in walking distance, restaurants, grocery store.
  • Perfect location beautiful outside and in, hot tub was amazing, fresh eggs and lots of xtra thank you best Airbnb ever

  • I had an event to attend and Elizabeth took the time to let me know how far it was from her home. She was extremely helpful and responsive. She also respected my autonomy and privacy. The Air BnB was conscientiously stocked with all of those little comforts of home: Kleenex, Qtips, scissors, etc. and the kitchen was also mature with all of the apparatuses and utensils one would need. There were many thoughtful considerations: water, fruit, etc. I absolutely loved the detailed check in instructions with pictures making locating, parking, and gaining access so easy. I had no problem finding the place and there was ample parking in the carport. The majority of the pathway from the carport to the Air BnB location is cement, so rolling suitcases work fine and you don’t have to worry about muddy shoes on a rainy day unloading your car. I also felt extremely safe in the neighborhood. The only consideration I would pass along would be that if you are a light sleeper, there is a large dumpster for the neighboring apartment complex right beneath the bedroom window. On both days (a Thursday and Friday) the dumpster came crashing down at around 6:15 am. One day it was caused by the garbage truck emptying it, and it sounded like the garbage came again the next day, but it was likely someone putting garbage inside. The second day I was hoping to sleep in a little bit was unable to after that. For someone who is not a light sleeper, this would probably wouldn’t be an issue.

  • Fantastic place to stay! Quick responses, nice central location. Cottage was beautiful and had everything you would need to relax and enjoy a Peacful stay! Awesome place and host!

    Nate2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth is always so thoughtful. I appreciate her warming up the place before we arrived - the fresh fruit is great, and it's always like "home".

    Cynthia2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth has a very comfortable and thoughtful space. It has all the amenities and touches to make your stay very comfortable. I think if you are taller than 6'3" and 225 pounds the shower and walk upstairs will be a little tight. By far, this studio 2-level is in the upper end of quality and service.

    Alan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, wonderful stay! We played scrabble and used the hot tub. Our dog was able to roam around the fenced yard. Great place to unwind, thank you!

    Lindsey2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This is way better than I expected! The hot tub is so perfect! It didn’t make my skin itchy and having the pool all lit up next to it. The bed was SOOOO comfortable along with the sheets, pillows AND blankets !! I was so impressed! It had everything we could have thought of needing and then some! She accommodated to my infants need with a play pin and highchair! I will definitely be staying here again! :)

    Taylor2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Always a great place to stay. This particular stay had special homemade bread in the refrigerator for me, Elizabeth met me at the parking (carport) and actually carried my suitcase in. She showed me a few thing in the cottage - and even put a phone charger in there for me (because she knows I tend to forget when I travel) . Always a pleasure to stay there.

  • Nice stay and very convenient. I ended up having to arrive later than planned and David was very accommodating.

    Nick2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great place at an excellent value. I just need a chill place to relax after working long days, and it was great for that. There are many cats that try to get into the room, so would not be suitable for anyone with allergies. They were great hosts. I was able to come and go as I needed to. Would recommend to anyone needed a simple, nice place to stay.

    Tallie2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • David and Michele are sweet and welcoming. I was in town for work and it was a great location for someone unfamiliar with Salem. At one point I had to sit at the dining room table and take care of some paperwork. It felt more like a comfortable, loosely familial, safe environment. Both are happy to answer questions or just chat and get to know you. Of course, cats are present. If you have a significant reaction to cat dander, this place is not for you. Michele goes out of her way to keep the house tidy and the floors cleaned. A shelf in the fridge was helpful. Plenty of room in the bathroom to accommodate all personal items you may need. Washer and dryer are in the house if needed. Worth the money for sure!

    Alexa2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • David and Michele were very friendly hosts, quick in response. They checked in with me to make sure everything was good. Also, I believe they have four cats but I engaged with two of them; they were sweet as well.

Only available for stays 30 days or longer. Fully remodeled guest basement apartment within walking distance of downtown Salem, Salem hospital, Willamette University, and Bush Park. Located in the beautiful, historic Bush Park neighborhood. Full kitchen with dishwasher, stove, etc. Perfect for 1-2 people but there is room to comfortably accommodate up to four. We use Airbnb to travel all the time and we built this specifically to be a place that we personally would want to stay.
The unit is 500 sq feet and located in the basement of our 1930's home. You will enter through a back entrance and go down a flight of stairs through a laundry room (the only shared space). Your private apartment door is located at the bottom of the stairs. Kitchen features full fridge/freezer, stove, dishwasher and all the cooking utensils you will need. The space is large enough to comfortably seat 4 adults. It is an open plan layout with the kitchen/dining/living area sharing the majority of the space. The couch easily converts to a queen sized bed. There is an electric fireplace that provides great ambiance and as much extra heat as you would like. The couch also has a storage area that holds extra blankets. In the summer this area stays very comfortable regardless of how hot it is outside. A portable fan is also provided. The TV is internet only connected. We provide guests use of Netflix and Prime TV. An HDMI cable is also provided if you'd like to connect it to your laptop. The bedroom features a queen bed with dresser and wardrobe. You will find both firm and soft pillows ready for your convenience on the bed.
The Bush Park neighborhood is our favorite neighborhood in Salem. It is full of craftsman homes and other early 1920's-30's architecture. It is a nice walking neighborhood. Bush Park is located just 2 blocks away and has beautiful walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
  • Caleb and Keely's place was the perfect place for an extended trip to Salem. The location was perfect and the house was very clean. Caleb and Keely were extremely accommodating throughout the whole stay and were always available if I needed anything. I will definitely return to their place if I find myself in Salem again!

Over 1000 SF! Sunny and bright two bedrooms, large bathroom, full kitchen, large living room, creekside condo just blocks from downtown Salem. Three blocks from Salem Center Mall, five blocks from State Capital and six from Willamette University. During the summer the unit has an AC installed. We take it out for fall and winter but there are box fans if you get too warm (unlikely in OR as it is usually VERY mild) You are 6 blocks (10 minutes) from the state capital and if you go up 1 block (east) to Historic Cottage street you will walk buy many historic homes and then into the Capital gardens which is my favorite way to approach the capital building. We have never had any issues or any of our guests but it is a part of life in many cities.
Downtown Salem. Just blocks from Historic Cottage Street and the State Capital grounds. Walking distance to the restaurants and shops in downtown as well as the State Capital grounds, Willamette University, Salem Hospital, Riverfront Park.
