  • Would definitely recommend this place. It's very, very comfortable and cozy and close to all the wineries.

  • We loved our getaway at Nelsey's. It was quiet, private and I have a new favourite puppy to visit :) We didn't get a chance to meet Janelle in the flesh but she was very helpful in the leadup to our stay. Recommended.

  • Lovely little cabin in the heart of the yarra valley. Perfectly located within a 10/15 min walk into healesville and in close proximity to several of the region's key vineyards. The cabin itself was very clean - small and compact but structured in a very efficient and practical fashion. We stayed for 1 night and managed to cook up a nice meal with the utensils provided (fridge, large electric pan, microwave, kettle) and enjoyed a glass of wine in the outside area. Janelle was a lovely host and even though we didn't meet her until our check out she was great to communicate with before and throughout our stay. Overall great experience and good value and would highly recommend, the only comment I would make is that the bed was on the small side and not the most comfortable but that didn't take away from the overall good experience.

  • Great location, nearby quite a number of restaurants and cafe. Amenities are well equipped at her cozy loft. Janelle is patience with our late arrival to her place, friendly and willing to help. Most important, great place to stay at Yarra valley region!

This cosy cottage is a private retreat in our garden at the foothills of Mt Macedon. Fully self contained, it has two bedrooms. Highlights are the bay window, wood heater (for winter days by the fire), wide verandah and outdoor fire pit (for summer evenings under the stars), large open space to lie on the grass. Watch the passing kangaroos, say hello to the nearby sheep and listen to the amazing morning birdsong. It's also a great base for visiting the beautiful Macedon Ranges.
This very sweet little cottage has been a much loved bed and breakfast for over 15 years. Recently renovated, the interior design is simple and uncluttered, done creatively and lovingly. The cottage is surrounded by open grassy spaces and tall trees. The birdsong in the mornings is truly fantastic. Kookaburras are often hanging around. In the evenings there is a mob of kangaroos who come to graze on the grass. You will often hear the skimming of the wild ducks as they come to land on the dam nearby. Breakfast provisions will be left in the kitchen so you can just sleep in and relax on your first morning - eggs, bacon, milk, bread, tea, coffee, jams....
We are in the Macedon Ranges and very close to Victoria's famous spa country. There's so much to do in the area. Fantastic restaurants, pubs, wineries, walks, bike rides (we have bikes you can use...), farmer's markets, galleries, etc.
  • An absolutely lovely place to stay, very quite and relaxing. Town only a 30 min walk away. Highly recommend this place.

  • Lovely little cottage - perfect for our family and within easy reach of Woodend, Mt Macedon and surrounds. Charming, cosy and clean - with everything we needed for our three night stay. Breakfast provisions for the first morning were left by the hosts which was a lovely touch. We lit the fire on our last night, toasted marshmallows and did some star gazing. Lovely Easter break!

    Lauren2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Emma was really communicative and friendly and check in/out was easy breezy. The property and converted horse stables were absolutely divine! It's been one of our favourite stays anywhere; ever. Cosy and gorgeously decorated, it felt like living inside a Country Living magazine. Mornings we would have fresh eggs and bacon and lie in the sun by the dam, days would be spent exploring the fantastic country towns surrounding the property, and evenings by the woodfire reading and chatting. We can't wait to return!

    Kate2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Arrangements convenient for me using only internet and text messages on mobile phone because i am often unavailable using other means of communication. Cottage warm, cosy with heaters on to welcome us, food in fridge and eggs and bread for breakfasts plus muesli so great selection. We previously messaged where key would be. Location pretty, kangaroos, sheep, rabbits, birds and so pretty all around and warm. Temperature outside was zero and light flakes of snow very brief one morning. We also could warm the bed with electric blankets, phew !!! Showers hot and warm bathroom.

    Pat2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay in Woodend, I would high recommend for a cost get away. Cody and clean in beautiful grounds. The window seat is an amazing place to read a book and drink a glass a wine. To make it ideal I would add an oven and an adapter for the stereo for current phones.

    Angela2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Bernard and Emma were the perfect hosts. It was extremely easy communicating with them and they were very accommodating with our late check in. Their cottage was the perfect base for us four ladies who were in the Macedon ranges for a wedding. The cottage was beautifully decorated and the fireplace kept us warm even in the middle of winter. Thankyou for hosting us!

    Denise2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect weekend escape! Very comfortable and warm in a beautiful spot. Emma and Bernard were awesome hosts, we knew they were there if we ever needed them. The cottage was perfectly contained and had everything we needed and more. Thank you both so much, we already can't wait to come back!

    Kimmi2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful weekend away at Bernard and Emma's. I don't even want to say how restful and idyllic the place is, lest word catch on! Truly a treasure, can't wait to be back. All was comfortable, clean and stylish. The ducklings in the dam were an added bonus!

  • My partner and I came here for a night and loved it so much. Great scenery and a comfortable little haven for us to enjoy ourselves. Belinda gave us complete privacy and helped us with directions on how to get to town. Nothing better then waking up and seeing the beautiful Zues and chickens running around outside. Have already recommended to family and friends, Thank you Belinda!

    Liv2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing unique place to spend a couple of relaxing nights. Fantastic outside spa that seems brand new with wonderfull views. Belinda really go's the extra mile to ensure her guests have a great time. When We arrived we were met with a fridge full of food! Bacon, eggs, bread, cheese veggies, snacks and even a great bottle of wine. Nothing was too much trouble for the host. Belinda is a great source of local knowledge and makes sure you enjoy your time at her place. Highly recommend this spot.

    Gary2018-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat! We feel indulged and deeply relaxed after two nights at Stone Haven. Belinda was the ideal host offering us a ride to local attractions but also allowing for complete privacy. Stone Haven was easy to get to via public transport with the help of a short Uber ride and Belinda kindly offered us a lift back to Eltham train station after our stay. What a pleasure to have some wine, cheese and breakfast foods tailored to our dietary needs. I felt instantly comfortable, relaxed and safe when arriving and hope to get back for another retreat soon.

    Jo2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend. Very quiet and relaxing. Belinda was there to greet us and gave us some local advice and recommendations. Then we were given all the privacy we wanted. It's a great location not too far from Melbourne and close to attractions in the area. We enjoyed going for walks and seeing all the wildlife. So many kangaroos!! Thank you Belinda. We would love to come and stay again

  • Stonehaven was a the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway. The room is really lovely and well set up. We loved the spa, the great views and the fireplace. We were also impressed with the kitchenette set up which was very well equipped. We were able to cook breakfast with the supplies generously provided. Belinda's place feels secluded but is only a short drive from restaurants, wineries and everything else the Yarra valley has to offer. We really loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone.

Escape the hustle, bustle, and noise of the city in our cosy cabin, located across the rear garden from the main house offering you lots of privacy and a backdrop of the Mount Towrong forest. The main house and cabin are situated in 4 and a half acres which we share with guests who are welcome to wander and explore the beautiful Macedon countryside, and spot our local chubby wombat!
A little off the beaten track, the house has direct access to trails for hiking, road and mountain biking or just a gentle stroll amongst the trees. The cabin is entirely self-contained with a quirky shower, toilet, tea / coffee-making facilities, toaster, fridge and microwave with grill. Space to enjoy breakfast in a peaceful atmosphere. Mobile reception can be patchy on the mountain and there's is no-wifi, TV or radio signal. Bring a book or favourite travel companion, switch off and relax!
Mount Macedon is 45 minutes from Melbourne and 35 minutes from Melbourne airport. The busiest time of the year is autumn when many of the trees start to turn golden and shed their leaves. It is also a cosy retreat in winter, frequently getting snow and a cooler option during the hotter summer days. A playground for the active with many local road cycling, MTB and hiking trails. Within an easy drive of the many wineries, amazing cafe and eateries that Macedon Ranges has to offer.

  • Sarah’s Airbnb was a perfect weekend getaway. Check in was simple and went smoothly. The cabin was very cosy and clean!

  • A beautiful and peaceful hideaway in an amazing forest near the top of Mount Macedon (south-east side). Great for couples or small families.

    Glenn2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • You will love this little gem! Tucked away up the top end of the property backing onto the bush, this cozy cabin is the perfect getaway from the things of man. Forget your technology and screens, and just soak in the surrounds - they are stunning! GREAT eateries, nature reserves, quaint towns, breweries and wineries in the local area within a scenic 5-50min drive depending on how much time you have to venture. Just get out and explore, you won't be disappointed, and this is such a welcoming abode to return to at the end of the day! Didn't want to leave, already planning a return trip later in the year. Thanks for being a hospitable host Sarah! See you again.

  • Stay here and you'll never want to leave. We were only here 2 nights but wished we could extend! The accommodation and setting was just so relaxing and Shellie's friendliness really enhanced the experience. As nature lovers, we were able to walk straight from our room into the forest, even sitting on the verandah was lush! Special mention to the all the extra touches in the room too including the basket of provisions. with local produce and organic goods. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

    Merryl2018-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • I'm going to be honest, the air bnb photos do not do this place justice! Do yourself a favour; read the amazing reviews that I second, and then book this place! There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. We will be back! Thank you Shellie, this weekend away was exactly what we needed.

    Stacey2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Shellie's lodge and especially enjoyed the warm fire, warm greeting and delicious goodie bag on arrival. Also loved waking to the sounds of birds each day, and partaking in the many walks, pubs and cafes nearby. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all for a weekend.

    Mandy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a fantastic stay here over the weekend. There isn’t anything about this accomodation that we would change! This trip will definitely be an anniversary which we won’t forget in a hurry! We will be back again

    Gemma2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a perfect getaway! The cottage, the private access to the forest, the wonderful and plentiful amenities, the candles, the vintage decor and the overall vibe was perfect. We didn't want to leave! Our host Shelly was so generous. We cannot wait to be back. It's become our new favourite getaway!

    Imaan2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage in a very good quiet environment. Had one of the most relaxing time away! All basic and essential things needed are in the cottage and Shellie has been so kind to offer to let her know if we needed anything!

    Jade2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful place in the Dandenongs to stay. Celia's accommodation is luxurious, comfortable and homely all in one. It is a wonderful place to recharge the soul, surrounded by trees and beautiful tame birds. The basket of delicious, healthy, local sourced food makes the experience even more special. Even on short notice of my daughter being gluten intolerant, our basket was filled with many nutritious, home made and locally sourced produce. The location is excellent and close to shops and restaurants if you so desire but we were happy to just be in the wonderful surrounds of our home. An extra bonus was the extent of DVD's incase of raining weather or just something to watch at night. Shellie and John were lovely hosts and I hope I get the opportunity to come back and stay again another time

    Kelly2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great property! Lovely rooms! Comfy, homely, and a little haven for some quiet down time in the greenery. Shellie is a great host and made this a very easy getaway.

Nestled on the top of the Great Dividing Range, Karma is a great place to unwind and relax. Accomodation from Studio room, 2 bedroom nests to boutique B&B rooms. Ideal for groups or that special occasion. See karmakinglake on utube for a tour.
Gorgeous, cosy, hexagonal shaped 1 or 2 BR accommodation in the heart of Kinglake, home to the amazing Kinglake National Park. Just an hour from Melbourne airport and CBD close to wineries of the Yarra Valley and fabulous walking and cycling trails. Garden setting, log fires, families welcome! Karma Kinglake was built after the disastrous fires on Black Saturday 2009. Wherever possible we have recycled materials and reclaimed timbers from properties in the local area. We endeavour to be as self sustaining as possible, we have rain water tanks, our own orchard and vegie patch and we treat all waste water. Guests are welcome to enjoy the entire property (which is just over 3 acres), we have specific rooms available for guests who require disability access and we welcome well behaved dogs. Make yourself at home, ask us about our local native birds (feed them from your deck area) or grab some eggs from our resident chickens. We live onsite and are here if you need us and happy to help you explore.
Kinglake is a gorgeous spot, not far from Melbourne but it feels like a world away. Lots to see and do in the area, great for foodies, wine buffs, nature lovers and cyclists. We also have a fabulous park located at the end of our street which is a huge hit with our younger guests!
  • The accommodation was so clean and cosy-just like the pictures! :) The fire was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only thing unsatisfactory was that the peanut butter we had for breakfast was expired which made my sister unwell.

    Diana2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a girls weekend and loved the nest. Not too far from the yarra valley and in a beautiful location. The fireplace and the chickens topped off a great weekend too.

    Jessica2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Karma Kinglake was a very clean and cosy cottage off the north of the Yarra area. The good thing is that you get to drive through the whole Yarra region to get to the cottage. Karen was also very warm to introduce us to the workings of the cottage and helped us set up a fire. Very quiet and peaceful in the night and worth a visit for anyone who is looking for a nice cottage stay around the Yarra region. The only fault we could find was the unstable wifi but that was probably due to the bad weather we experienced that night. Other than that, do give Karma Kinglake a visit! :)

    Felicia2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect family getaway in the hexagon nest. Ideal location to explore this part of the world with day trips to Healesville Sanctuary and Puffing Billy. Awesome park at end of street and walking distance to pub and shops. We were made to feel at home straight away, greeted by the resident Lay Girls (chickens) and heater on. Macca popped over with a breakfast tray including milk, yoghurt, fresh eggs, bread, herbs from the garden. Hosts organized a high chair and portacot too. Would definitely recommend!

    Sarah2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were, literally and figuratively, given the warmest welcome by the host, Macca and the Lay Girls (a flock of hens). Arriving in winter and in the company of 2 ladies that are bundled up like dumplings, Macca has started up the fireplace and warmed the cottage just nice awaiting our arrival. The cottage is just awesome; beautifully and functionally furnished and the surroundings is tranquil and serene. It really does feel like we are home away from home. Looking forward to come back soon when we are visiting the Yarra again!

    Albert2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived and were warmly welcomed by Karen, we loved our stay at Karma Kinglake. The house we stayed in was quite intimate but comfortable and had a lovely fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was roomy, the surroundings are beautiful with lush nature and cockatoos everywhere. Our host made herself available to any of our needs, which was fantastic. Such great hospitality leaves you to fully enjoy your weekend away! The location is so close to everything great in the area too. We would warmly recommend a stay here and look forward to visiting again!

  • Jennifer's house was great, in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and an easy drive to tourist spots in Olinda and Sassafras. We were there for a romantic getaway though, so made use of the chrome cast and smart TV (an excellent addition!) as well as the boardgames. Great for wines and cooking dinner and having a quiet few days away from Christmas madness. Jennifer was also super prompt in replying to my messages which was greatly appreciated. Thanks for a great getaway

    Colin2017-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned home after five days staying at Jen’s cabin in Olinda. We had the most wonderful time – the entire area is one of the prettiest places I’ve visited and the cabin provides a cosy and comfortable retreat from the Victorian chill. With heaters in each room, a heat lamp in the bathroom, slippers, woolen socks and lovely bedding, we enjoyed a relaxing and snug stay. Jen has obviously done a great deal to refurbish this (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s cabin… the shower is lovely and hot with decent water pressure and the couches and throws are so soft and warm. There’s wifi and (Hidden by Airbnb) Chromecast available, so despite the lack of phone reception we were entertained and also able to stay in touch with friends and family. Jen’s provided plenty of linen and towels, body wash, shampoo and conditioner… plus there’s a washing machine should you need to do a load. Most importantly the cabin was very clean… I can’t stand staying anywhere that isn’t spotless! It’s beautifully furnished, neat and tidy and feels fresh and lovely. Probably the best Airbnb experience I’ve had so far. Thank you Jen - you really made our trip!

    Kelly2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • A nice getaway location set away in a forest setting. Was exactly as described with easy check-in/check-out procedures. Was fun to feed to Rosellas and the King Parrots right outside the door.

    Martina2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely secluded little hideaway engulfed by massive trees and very friendly bird life. (The Rosellas ate out of our hands). The cabin was very comfortable and peaceful and the nearby Pirianda Garden offers a beautiful walk among exotic trees from around the world. A perfect weekend chill out getaway.

Our beautiful, authentic Log Cabin was built by my grandmother in 1942 to shelter her and my mother during WWII. It has recently been lovingly renovated and restored to retain its original character and rustic charm while including modern comforts - such as a split system heating/air con and Italian stove. It features a fabulous wood heater, a beautiful, claw foot bath (extra long and deep) and is located on a bush block 20-25 minutes walking distance to town. Please read the Spaces section :)
The Cabin is a unique and authentic historic building in a beautiful bush setting. It is connected but independent from the main house, also listed as Heaven in Healesville. The Cabin and the main house are locked; the Cabin is fully self-contained and completely private from the big house. The property also accommodates two other small bungalows so although there may be other people and their cars around, the buildings are situated with plenty of space to ensure everyone’s privacy :)
The local area is stunning! The Yarra Valley is well known for its beautiful scenery - from the gently sloping hills covered in vineyards to the magnificent mountains surrounding; the town of Healesville itself offers wineries, cafes, shops to explore and of course, the Healesville Sanctuary.
  • Nice rustic feel - minimal, natural, but with key comforts such as fire and bath. Great location right near heart of Healesville. Kerry's communication and organisation were excellent.

  • The log cabin is perfect for a romantic weekend away. Even though it is attached to another house, it feels very private and secluded. The cabin has a rustic charm and is very cosy in the cold, with the fireplace and heaters. Communication with the owner, Kerry, was great. Definitely recommend!

    Caitlin2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin is absolutely gorgeous; rustic, cosy, but with modern amenities. Kerry is a wonderful and friendly host. We had a beautiful trip.

    Stephanie2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabin was a great place to get away from it all for the weekend. The bath was great and large enough for two. A pleasant walk to the shops and restaurants. Kerry is a responsive host.

    Simone2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kerry was such a lovely and helpful host and remained in touch the whole time, offering helpful and friendly advice or messages regarding check in/check out etc. She seems to really enjoy making sure her guests are feeling welcome and relaxed in her adorable cabin- which was so hard to leave! So many thoughtful touches and the general beauty of the wooden cabin made it the perfect stay for winter (fireplace and huge bathtub were absolutely delightful). It is well located within walking distance or a very short drive to town which offered many equally quaint places to keep warm and cosy in the winter. 10/10 Would recommend Kerry’s cabin as a serene little getaway with a lovely welcoming host.

  • Amazing place to stay for a weekend away. 11/10!

    Max2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, location and loved the fire place - so lovely to enjoy in the colder months. Easily accessible to walk into Healesville (20 mins) or nearby walking trails. Thank you for the lovely stay.

  • Great communication, beautiful home, stunning location.

    Emily2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed as a family of 4 adults and one child for one night. As architects, we were curious to stay in a David Godsell designed home. The architecture is quirky and quaint, of its era and nothing special. The views are spectacular. We had a nice stay, but the place was let down by lack of attention to presentation detail and feels a little clatty. Linen is old and manky, crockery lacking and promised basic pantry stocks depleted. Not really at the standard expected neither amenity-wise nor cleanliness-wise for top $$ accommodation and only saved by the view, the beautiful sunset and the visiting kookaburras and cockatoos all of which we loved.

    Chiara2017-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Million dollar view indeed! Perfect for our getaway! Very enjoyable stay. House has everything you need and is very close to amazing beaches as safety beach and Mt Martha beach.

    Gaby2018-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a fantastic base for a holiday. A short trip down to the most amazing beaches, coffee shops nearby and close to the freeway. I would say though that most things are a drive away as the walk back up the hill is a tough one. But if you have a car, it's perfect. The house itself is fantastic. The view is to die for and the birds that land on the deck are amazing. Beds are super comfortable and the AC works great if you hit a warm spell as we did. Would strongly recommend. Chelsea is a great host and was available immediately for any questions we had.

  • We made a last minute booking at Charlie's place and left early in the morning, so we didn't have much interaction, but we would be happy to stay there again.

  • Would like to take the time to tell everyone how amazing my girlfriends and myself's weekend was. We went to celebrate our one year anniversary, and honestly speaking we wouldn't have wanted to spend it anywhere else. Charlie went beyond needed to ensure that the place was decorated and that my girlfriend was left mesmerised which she was. Everyone in the area is so friendly and makes you feel right at home especially Charlie and his bubbly personality. The location is perfect for both nature lovers and those who love animals. Charlie gave as the chance to experience eating turkey eggs, which we highly liked:) he was only a text away whenever we needed him and always ensured we experienced all the sites around the forest aswell as the things we could do inside the place like lighting the bonfire, feeding the animals etc. the place is extremely cozy and perfect for couples! We would highly recommend the location/ cabin to anyone and everyone as it was one of the best places we've visited. Thankyou Charlie for having us and we cant wait to come back next holiday:)

  • Great little hideaway

    Leon2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie’s place was so cozy and just wonderful! The little fire out the front is so nice when sitting under the clear sky of the night stars. Bed super comfy and we loved the eggs and Charlie even drove us to town when we had an emergency. Would go there again, over and over! Thanks so much for a super stay :)

  • Enjoyed the seclusion, easy drive from Melbourne znd novelty of a shipping container. Very well equiped, apart from hair dryer, and enjoyed the bush setting, wine and seeing the livestock.

  • Very nice. Loved the chooks and turkeys wandering about! Great walking tracks nearby.

    Rosie2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and quiet place to getaway. Local town is a 5 minute drive away with a range of cafes. Wanted to stay longer to explore more. First experience with AirBnb was a successful one!

  • Weather was brilliant so we added one more night stay to enjoy swimming pool and sun. Kids loved walking around the farm. Beautiful lighting around farm and swimming area we also enjoyed. Only 5 mins to Bacchus Marsh so we went to strawberry picking 2 days in a row. Great getaway from city life without a long drive.

A great rustic cabin with heaps of character and charm in a relaxed country setting. Close to the Dandenongs and Yarra valley. Ideal for a couple but does have a pull out sofa for extra person or two small children. Tea and Coffee provided. The owners have two dogs and a cat which are very friendly! A quick scenic 10 minute drive through the forest will take you to Olinda.
  • The space was great and we felt warmly welcomed - excellent hosts. Nice and rustic, as we expected and wanted it. Private and cosy without feeling cramped at all. In fact it was more spacious than we expected. The kitchen was well appointed and the bed was super comfortable. Also lots to do on the day it rained - games, movies, books etc. And with fireplace and candles etc it was super romantic too. Highly recommended.

    Carl2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful stay. Hannah's place has an amazing atmosphere. It is very cozy and tastefully decorated. The fireplace absolutely makes it. Plenty of firewood was provided, so we stayed warm even in the middle of winter. There is a really great selection of books and table games. Hannah made us feel welcome but otherwise it felt private. The little touches such as chocolates, homebaked biscuits and fresh eggs were really nice. Thank you for the great stay!

  • Hannah's cabin is a great getaway from the hustle of Melbourne. We arrived late and the fire had been lit already, making it perfectly warm and comfortable escape from the winter. There were also fresh cookies for us! The amenities are great, including all the pots and pans you need (if you plan to cook), as well as a great shower and very comfortable bed. We stayed two nights but would have loved to stay longer. I would highly recommend this property for a weekend getaway or a longer stay if you have time to explore the Dandenong Ranges. So lovely!

  • Thank you for a lovely stay, our son loved the fresh air and big open yard!

    Narelle2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great getaway spot in a farming area. All that we needed in the way of accommodation was there. It had a huge backyard lawn and a dam past the back gate. The nearest attraction (Lavender farm) by car was 3 mins away. The enclosed wood fire heater kept us very warm. Home-made biscuits on arrival were a nice touch. As were the freshly laid eggs. There were plenty of books and board games.

  • We enjoyed our stay at “the gums” mountain retreat. It was a great location and view and our cabin was clean, cosy and well stocked with everything we needed. There were a few things that didn’t work such as a couple of lights and the kitchen fan. Our only real issue was we felt that our female host was quite rude and abrupt in emails/ messages and in person. General questions were met with responses that did not help our queries but made us feel stupid for asking. Apart from communication with the host our actual stay at the retreat was enjoyable.

    Roisin2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • These cabins are beautiful, secluded, with a spectacular view and perfect amenities for a mountain retreat. The spa bath was luxurious, and the fireplace warm and cozy. Close to hiking trails in Mt Macedon, and the gardens and township, and set on a beautiful property. A perfect escape from the city. I would come back again!!

  • Had such a wonderful time at The Gums. The view from the deck is amazing - photos don’t do it justice! • Great little getaway

    Thomas2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best weekend away. I have stayed at lots of fancy hotels and I must say this experience was so much more special. The cabin is so beautiful with such character and it was a real treat to have a fire place during winter. Like the other reviews I have to say that the beds were amazingly comfortable. The kitchen was also perfect and very nice of Leanne to have provided tea and chocolates. The grounds are also so amazing, driving up there are some friendly horses that great you and then some cows. We walked up to the top of the hill to watch the sun set over the Yarra Valley with our cheese and wine- so nice! The location is also so great - very close to all the wineries. We had a lovely lunch at Soumah and tried some gin at Four Pillars in the evening. I highly recommend booking with Leanne.

    Mariana2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic cottage! Peaceful, rustic, sensational views and full of charm. We loved staying here.

    Chris2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • So perfect! We enjoyed an idyllic and relaxing weekend at Leanne's cottage, and were delighted by the beautiful garden and view, and the lovely accommodation and communication. The location is perfect: we drove to nearby Warburton to escape the heat in the creek, and spent our lazy afternoons and evenings indulging in the many nearby wineries. An absolute treat... we will definitely be back!

    Erin2017-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful find! Exactly as described - a rustic and secluded cabin with spectacular rural views. With Melbourne's changeable weather, we were able to check out the cabin as a summer and a winter getaway in one weekend - we picnicked outside and enjoyed the sunset and star show on the first night, and then relaxed around the open fire inside on the second night as the rain and storms rolled through. Superb location, very central to Yarra Valley wineries. Clean, comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen - remember, this is a cabin, not a boutique hotel! And, yes, we heard Dumbledore heading back into the roof after his night out - cute! We expect this might be the first of many visits to Leanne's cabin.

    Erin2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time, this cute cabin is situated in a great location, is fully functional and has wonderful views. We had a memorable time and will enjoy coming back one day.

  • Karin's place was clean, tidy and had some lovely touches around the place. Karin was very prompt in replying to our messages and accommodating requests throughout our stay. The kitchenette was well-equipped with tea, a microwave, breakfast facilities/items and a bar fridge. Karin also had a mini bar for our convenience.

  • Nice emvironment, clean and comfortable. Karin is very detail minded, take care everything foe the guests. And smell very good in everywhere. You wont regret if you come.

  • Karin is an amazing host, and even though we didn't really see her you could feel all the special effort she went to ensuring our stay was relaxing. The ambiance of the room with the low lighting and music already playing set the scene. We only came for one night due to having a wedding in the area, but now cant wait to come back for a relaxing weekend. Highly recommend. Personal space was very respected, yet requests were still accommodated.

  • No doubt that this is one of my favourite place to stay in Victoria. Thank to Karin and her generosity. we fully enjoyed our one night stay peacefully. Imagine when you have travelled more than 6 hours and arrived at a place which has everything prepared for us: peaceful music was on, heater was on and all the complimentary at the kitchen. Karin did everything she could to give us 100% of privacy. And also, you dont have to worry about washing the dishes

    Josy2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous space which is a private wing of Karin’s house with separate entry. In a stunning, quiet area but within 5mins of Kallista. We were attending a wedding at Nathania Springs and Karin’s place was 10mims away and it was very easy to get a taxi to and from the venue. The space does not have a kitchen but Karin has created a space with benches, a fridge, microwave, coffee machine - everything but the kitchen sink! I wish we stayed longer and had a spa or a swim in the stunning pool!

    Tanya2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home with a lovely host. Fabulous breakfast provisions! Thanks again Karin!

    Alex2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing accommodation which felt like a home away from home. All the facilities, food, entertainment were awesome and we especially loved the thick robes provided by Karin. It kept us really warm in a rather chilly region. Loved it and would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to this area

  • The pictures don't do this place justice. There were so many thoughtful things put into this place t hat bright smiles to our faces. Its very neat and the locations serves as an excellent point to hang your hat while you explore the region.

This 2 bedroom cottage is a stand alone guest house in a securely fenced property, located in a quiet and peaceful area but still close to shopping centre and train station. It has it's own key and access.
  • A nice stay in this place which is is the quiet, leafy residential area of Ringwood North. The place was very clean and thoughtfully arranges. We were here to attend to a matter at Deakin Uni in Burwood and the place was close enough. I would say the place is best recommended if you have your own transport as it is a little away from the main transport hubs- being in the quiet side of the suburb.

It's also a short drive away from Emerald's main drag which has a few great cafes and supermarkets. Raoul and his wife are lovely and had a lot of knowledge about the area. Plus, Raoul allows pets and my dog had a fantastic time sniffing and playing around the property. Highly recommended!

Loved the animals who were always keen for a pat and enjoyed a lovely bike ride along the rail trail. The breakfast hamper was also delicious and extremely generous. My parents are very keen to try it out now and we'll be back for sure!

  • We had a lovely stay at Millwaters Retreat. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and very well-designed. The wood fire was most welcome in the cool Autumn nights, and we also liked the spacious double-shower. The place is perfectly situated just a few minutes west of the Warburton township in Millgrove, and was very peaceful day and night. The resident donkey, horse and camel were also very cute! We'll certainly recommend it and/or be back for another stay ourselves.

    Lydia & Daniel2015-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage was such a perfect escape for us. Spa next to the beautiful fire, and gorgeous big trees surrounding us. It was extremely peaceful. Thanks Rachael and Steven. You guys were always quick to respond and so accommodating. Arriving in the late afternoon to a lit fire warming the cottage was a beautiful touch. I would highly recommend staying here. The bed was big and comfy, the spa was super relaxing, and waking up with the birds was just perfect.

The cottage is self contained and is a well designed space that accommodates a queen sized bed, bathroom and a separate study and is set in an enchanting cottage garden. The well equipped kitchen is in a separate space though part of the cottage and is accessed by its own door from the decking, so you don't have far to go. In the morning lorikeets and other wild birds come to feed and you will be awoken to the romantic sound of birdsong. During spring and summer the garden is at its loveliest.
The cottage is self contained with own kitchen including dishwasher and has bathroom and laundry facilities. There is an additional room with a desk and chair for study or reading. The cottage is not connected to the house. It has its own decking and outdoor setting looking into the garden. You will awake to birdsong in the morning. This space is ideally suited for a couple or single and is not designed to accommodate children or extra guests.
Picturesque, safe, quiet, leafy and close to the beach and yacht club.
  • Yolande has a great granny flat at the back of her house. Perfect for a single or couple. It's in a nice quiet suburban area and the flat is very comfortable, especially the bed with a separate bathroom and kitchen

  • Yolande is a warm, friendly host and her lovely garden and comfortable attractive little cottage made our stay very easy and enjoyable. Beautiful healthy and fresh produce dor breakfast on the deck overlooking the garden and Netflix was an added bonus. Quiet safe and peaceful location walking distance to shops and the train.

  • We had an amazing stay at Yolande's place and she was an awesome host. Her place was lovely and clean and beautifully decorated and is in a great location only 10min walk to the main village and train station. Yolande's communication leading up to the booking was second to none and she even supplied us with some food for breakfast which was a really nice touch. I cannot recommend Yolande and her place enough, and will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Melbourne.

    Richard2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is above and beyond what we expected. The living area with bedroom, bathroom, living area and small study is absolutely immaculate with quality books, wall art and local information to keep an active brain ticking. Comfortable sofa with T.V and the added luxury of Netflix all thought of to upease a weary working traveler at the end of a hard days yakka. The deck and garden are just as gorgeous as Yolanda's 3 awesome kitty's. I'd recommend this place to royalty and to someone on a tight budget. Comfort, style and value for money. A billion star rating for sure. Thanks for having us, the pleasure is all ours

  • Beautiful spot for a weekend getaway, close enough that it was just a short drive, but tucked away so that we felt like we were away from it all. Very cosy, the cottage had everything we needed. The breakfast basket was really yummy, we really enjoyed the organic teas and fresh eggs from the resident chooks (who paid us a visit one morning!) The dogs enjoyed the walks around the sprawling property, and the evening naps around the fireplace. Would definitely recommend, and would love to be back. :)

  • A very cozy cottage set in a serene woodsy location, just as described. We felt right at home with precut firewood, homemade muffins, fresh eggs, electric blankets, and bath salts for the big bathtub. It made for a lovely and relaxing weekend away. I would highly recommend!

  • Phuong and Eddy’s place was perfect. The property is lush and beautiful, and the cabin has everything you need, very comfortable and homey. The bed, fireplace and spa bath were a dream. Especially enjoyed having little to no phone reception to really switch off and enjoy where we were at. Would absolutely recommend!

  • This is a roomy cottage on a secluded block away from the main house on a pretty and well maintained farm. There is every amenity you could need as well as friendly hosts and it is a convenient spot to stay when travelling to or from Melbourne. Remember it is a working farm and not just a money making venture, there is a bit of farm machinery around, the breakfast put out is typically country style huge and the hostess has a genuine interest in her guests wellbeing. Bed was comfortable (very) and the accommodation was clean and well maintained and warm as toast on a freezing night. Excellent value.

Chestnut Hill Cottage is hidden on 6 acres of garden. Small and self contained, with 4 rooms. Built in 1920, in Kallista in the Dandenong Ranges, it was originally a gardener's cottage. Central to small tourist villages and hills' walking trails.
1 x Bedroom with Queen bed 1 x Living Room with fold down Queen bed from wall unit and tv with dvd player 1 x Dining Room 1 x Kitchenette (Microwave oven/2 burner induction hotplate/Bar Fridge) 1 x Bathroom/Laundry (Shower/Basin/Washing Machine/Dryer) 1 x Separate Toilet with basin Small building, but has the requirements for a comfortable short stay. A tray of breakfast items are included with your overnight stay. (Cereal, milk, bread to toast your own and a hot item eg bacon and eggs or pancakes.) Please advise if you have any dietary concerns and we will try and assist. Toaster/jug/cutlery/utensils/microwave containers/plates etc
The Cottage is in area zoned residential bushland. The location is cool temperate rain forest and has a large stand of mountain ash. There is a large Japanese Maple next to the Cottage (approx 100 years old). It is very pretty in autumn with the variety of leaf colours. Locally there are several hills villages with different characters. Monbulk was reduced by bushfire in the 1960s and has more modern facades. Olinda and Sassafras are the tourist villages within 10 mins drive. Kallista is quieter and has a small shopping area. It is traditionally the artistic centre of the hills. We host a local stonemason who runs stone wall classes near the Cottage, several times a year. He also has stone carving classes within Kallista village. We are central to many bush walks and Parks Victoria gardens. There are small local restaurants in Kallista itself or Olinda and Sassafras. Belgrave has a plethora of take away places and restaurants. As hosts, we have a lot of brochures available to choose a night out.
  • Breakfast was awesome!!

    Megan2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's place is wonderful, it has everything you need, is really comfy and the breakfast is wonderful. We're vegetarian and she catered beautifully to our needs. It's on the grounds of a conference centre which wasn't in use when we were there, so we had the whole lawn and surrounds to ourselves, which was a plus. Great value, highly recommended.

    Cam2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine and Rob were fantastic and warm hosts. Their knowledge of the Ranges is superb. Breakfast was delivered and so tasty. I don't often review places, but this cottage and our hosts were great. 10/10 for me.

  • We had a really lovely stay at Chestnut Cottage. Cathy was warm and welcoming and prepared us a delicious breakfast. The cottage is located in a lovely garden and was beautifully fitted out with everything we needed and more. Beds were comfortable and coffee machine was much appreciated! Thank you Catherine

  • A very beautiful cottage. Quiet, clean and fully equipment. The area is surrounded by lots of green with crisp fresh air. A community hall nearby running by the same host, offering some indoor pool games and outdoor fireplace. Plenty of parks and artist sanctuary nearby. Belgrave is 15 mins drives away with Woolsworth groceries shopping possibility. Catherine and Robert is great host. Friendly and helpful. Overall, a great experience for a 3 days stay.

    Shelley2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine is very welcoming and a wealth of knowledge on everything on the local area. The cottage is lovely, the beds are comfy and we had everything we needed. The property is beautiful and close to puffing billy.

    Julie2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy's place was cosy and lovely and nicer than photos online. Location was central to all local attractions. Nice to be on a large property with a secluded garden surrounds. Very private. Breakfast each morning a definite plus. Caramel banana pancakes and eggs, bacon and toast fortified us two different mornings. Must see in the area include Puffing Billy(pay extra a do the Wine and Dine gourmet lunch car). Alfred Nichols Memorial Garden is magical and Autumn was a plus for spectacular leaves colour. So much to see in the area and Cathy provides the perfect location.

Lilly Pilly cottage is a rustic building with modern amenities.
The Dandenong Ranges, an hour's drive from Melbourne, are one of Victoria's favourite weekend destinations. With beautiful forests, heritage listed gardens, and great places to eat there is something for everyone to do.
  • Would like to thank Rita for her warm hospitality, generosity and for the outstanding accommodation. The scenic views are breathtaking! It is a great escape for relaxation and privacy. I highly recommend this place to couples that need a break from their busy lifestyles.

    Leendert2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this cottage, so comfortable and with many little touches that showed the owner's love of the property. Very tranquil and great views. Can't wait to go back.

    Maree2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Rita is the perfect host, friendly and welcoming. She provided such a welcoming atmosphere in the cottage too - for example, it was a slightly cool, overcast day on arrival and she had thoughtfully put the heaters on in advance to make it warm and cosy. There was plenty of wood for the pot belly stove, too. Rita had provided everything I could possibly need (and more - little extras like chocolates and yummy biscuits) and the bed and chairs were really comfortable. The environment outside is so beautiful - her gardens, the lovely big old trees, the bird life, the views. I stayed a whole week and left feeling very refreshed. I feel that Rita's cottage is very good value for money and I really hope and plan to return next year. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

    Vyvyan2016-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rita's place is absolutely breathtaking. From the views, to the surrounding landscapes of the Dandenong ranges, to the rustic cottage itself, we felt relaxed by the environment. It was nice to have a hub so close to all the local sights, and the cottage is perfectly self contained and has a lot of history embedded in it's walls. Definitely would stay here again!

    Andy2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rita's place was just as described. Very clean with great quality linen & towels, beautiful gardens & awesome views. It was to cold to use the pool but plenty of heating inside. Rita was a great host, there if we needed her but gave us our privacy, even left a bottle of wine & chocolate for our 10 yr anniversary. Will definately be back.

    Claire2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely space for a quiet and relaxing break, all is included for a self contained stay, we had a wonderful seven nights. The cottage has plenty of space for two people and the surrounding garden is so tranquil. Breath taking views.

    Pauline2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this weekend away. It was a cosy, relaxing retreat and such beautiful greenery around. Fantastic views and even a couple of friendly horses in the nearby garden! Rita was also lovely and made us very welcome.

Each treatment is uniquely designed to meet your needs, leaving you more aligned, restored and centered in your body.
The Yarra Valley is a whole life experience away, offering quality local food and wine, breathtaking scenery, romantic hideaways and indulgent adventures. The Yarra Valley is recognised as one of the world's premier wine growing regions with over 80 sensational cellar doors, superb restaurants serving fresh regional produce, luxury accommodation, iconic scenery and stunning artwork.
  • Great spot. Cosy cottage!

    Kim2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the two bedroom cottage and had our 2.5 year old twin boys with us. The little kids cubby house was a hit, as were the chickens and the experience of feeding seeds to the beautiful birds that come and visit the property. Privacy was respected, and easy check in and check out. The hosts were happy and prompt to answer any questions we had, but while we were there, we did not have any phone reception/access to Wifi or internet so could not contact them via phone (although their house is only next door so if any emergencies, I'm sure they wouldn't mind you popping in) Healesville Sanctuary only a short drive away - highly recommend a cafe close by to Healesville called Mocha & Lime; excellent coffee and delicious food and very child friendly.

  • Eddy & Phuong were very accommodating hosts and put the heater on for us when they knew we were arriving late. Would definitely recommend as they were great hosts! Would suggest for future guests that they arrive when there is still light as it's a bit of a drive in and hard to find if arriving late at night.

  • My fiancee and I had the most amazing time staying at this beautiful cozy lodge nestled in a serene forest - we really couldn't have asked for a better place. The hospitality that Shellie provided us was unparalleled; on arrival we were met with a generous basket of fresh local goodies, and the lodge was immaculately kept and had everything you would need for a quiet, relaxing getaway. Every review is spot on - I would highly recommend this fantastic experience to anyone, and we can't wait to come visit again. Thank you Shellie!

They set up a private fire for us facing the forest which my wife and I where able to sit by and have take away pizza and listen to music was a great memory from an awesome place in beautiful scenery, They decor is quite dated but furniture is nice and modern the breakfast ingredients were fresh tasty and freaken awesome! Holly2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Photos do not do this justice - the surrounds are exquisitely scenic and the way the afternoon light filters through the trees must be seen first hand! The cottage was beautifully and tastefully appointed and the breakfast provided was incredible. The homemade banana bread (in heart shaped tin) was a huge hit, as as the toasted muesli, local eggs, avocado and beautiful homemade jam. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we would recommend Chudleigh to everyone.

Wildlife is closeby, and you can hang out at the balcony to catch a glimpse of some great animals (we saw a deer soon after we arrived :). Shellie was very welcoming and made sure that our stay went smoothly. The breakfast hamper was awesome, lots of fresh organic and/or local produce. (we loved the brownie).

You will need to bring additional wood and kindling iff you are planning on enjoying a fire all weekend. There is reverse cycle heating/cooling if you decide not to have a fire. Kitchen has everything you need for a weekend away including small fridge with freezer, microwave, electric frypan and two burner electric cook top. All pots pans plates etc are supplied as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, plunger coffee sugar, salt and pepper and biscuits. Note: no oven in cabin, BBQ supplied on request at cost of $10 In summer it is 5 to 6 degrees cooler here on the mountain than down in the city making for a welcome respite on those hot summer days. In winter as a result of altitude we often get snow which is so beautiful and a special treat. The national park of the Macedon Ranges surrounds the property making it very secluded and an animal and bird haven. The nearest township is a 15 minute drive so our seclusion may not suit those who seek a quick cappuccino. Better to sit on your deck, have a BBQ with a nice wine and take in the view. By the way, the air up here is pure!! Our Wombat Lodge cabin is one of three cabins we have to offer. The others called "Eagles Nest" and "The Gums" are also listed with ABB.
Surrounded by state forest, our property is unique in that we have no immediate neighbours. Our altitude gives the cabin sensational views. We get snow over winter months The seclusion offers a special quietness and beautifully clean air
  • Where do I begin, this is a little slice of paradise just an hour out of Melbourne. Absolutely stunning views, so many wild animals and a very comfortable cottage. Suzanne communicated well with us in the lead up to our stay, so we knew exactly what to expect. The cottage itself was very cute and well equipped with everything we needed to self-cater the entire weekend. We went on many walks around the grounds and saw wombats, kangaroos and beautiful birds. This is a getaway I won't forget. We will be back for sure!

  • Lovely cottage that's well appointed with all the trimmings we needed for a comfortable stay. We absolutely loved the fireplace, well appointed living spaces, comfortable bed, big windows to take in the views, location and the feeling like we were a million miles away from Melbourne (even though it's not far at all). Suzanne was kind enough to help us get a fire going when the night became chilly and for that, we were grateful! We had a wonderful time.

  • Couldn’t recommend wombat lodge more! Everything was perfect, the location was great as it felt a bit secluded and had incredible views but still close to mt macedon town. It was really comfortable and warm despite the weather being freezing. We even saw wombats!

  • Excellent place for a weekend away from the city. Amazing view from the balcony and the heaters worked well to keep us nice and warm despite the cold weather.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Wombat Lodge. The cabin was comfortable (especially the bed!) and felt like home for our time away. The spot is secluded (a bit of a drive up the mountain) but still only about 15 mins to the well serviced town of Gisborne. We were lucky to see some wombats, native birds, and a kangaroo in the area during our stay! Suzanne prepared our cabin with lots of info about the area including local walking maps for the property. We loved our stay and would recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and secluded spot amongst nature for a getaway

  • This place is wonderful! The cabins are clean and well appointed, the large spa bath and wood fire were highlights. There are great views from the cabins, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful to walk or drive around. Loved wildlife spotting too - we did see a wombat!
