  • This was a birthday present for my brother and we were looking forward to cosying around a campfire and sleeping in a comfortable tent in a pleasant environment. The weather was miserable (it had been torrential rain for a few hours before we arrived) which made the campsite a little more depressing than it should have been and gave rise to puddles of water inside the tent. The firewood was wet because it wasn’t covered and there wasn’t any kindling so we had to get our own and once the fire was lit and roaring in the woods our evening was transformed. The sound of the road is almost constant which detracted somewhat from the ambience. The hosts were great and helped as much as they could. This is a basic rented accommodation in a field with a small parcel of woodland. We did enjoy the stay and the weather is obviously not the fault of anyone but fate! However we felt that a few little things were missed that could have made the stay much more enjoyable.

  • What a wonderful experience. Your own private field with a spacious bell tent and an open fire. You can't get more Swallows & Amazons than this. The bathroom is attached to the owners' house which is 200 yards away; it is fully functional with plenty of hot water, and though it is quite basic you are after all camping. Other than that, you are in your own private wilderness. Thoroughly recommend staying here. Take a torch.

  • Perfect for what we wanted. We live in the city and my partner had never been camping, so booked this last minute. Nice secluded spot & very private. Good fun collecting wood for the fire pit from the woods & the tent was clean, comfortable & well maintained. Good value and a very short drive from Brighton. Joanna welcomed us on arrival. We had a great time and suited us perfectly. There is an out of sight but fairly vocal dog nearby, something to be mindful of if you are looking for total tranquility, but it did not bother us. Overall would recommend.

  • Joanna was a great host and the location of the bell tent was great for our South downs excursion (if you don't mind a small ride to it). The bell tent was spacious and we had plenty of room for all our gear. I would suggest bringing sleeping bags as it's gets very cold at night. we stayed in September. The tent was clean and Joanna is really nice and informative about the local area. I would stay here again.

  • Private bell tent, plenty of chopped up firewood done for us. Nice and quiet place to stay.

    Michael2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night away from it all staying at the Bell tent. In terms of facilities it's quite a basic set up, no running water by the tent for washing up etc. and the bathroom is a bit of a walk away but for one night it was fine and our 12 year old son loved it. Joanna was really helpful and friendly and left us to it once we'd arrived and chatted. the tent is lovely and spacious and it's very private with your own little field and woodland to explore. We loved having a fire to sit round at night. Nice pub nearby.

  • Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time ✌️

    Andrew2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay - the location is beautiful, very private and secluded, and the tent is large (big enough for several blow-up beds should they be required) but still cosy. There was a thunderstorm, wind and heavy rain during our stay and the tent felt warm and secure. You can also drive right up to the tent, which we appreciated when packing up the next day in the pouring rain! The farm was a little tricky to find as it’s not named on the road, but Joanna was very helpful on the phone giving directions. Be warned - there’s very little signal in the area so don’t plan to make any calls once you arrive. That said, it’s a great way to ‘digitally detox’ and spend some quality time with your tent-mates. Joanna has thought about all the little touches - tealight lanterns, solar-powered fairy lights decorating the outside of the tent, cushions and fur throws inside for a romantic feel. Inside, there is a double air mattress provided but you will need to bring your own bedding etc. Outside, the fire pit was a nice addition - though we recommend bringing chairs or blankets to sit on. We brought our dog - the tent is pooch-friendly - and though Joanna warned us we might hear the farm dogs barking we barely did, and our dog didn’t react to them at all. While the tent is great, everything else is very basic. When we booked, the listing mentioned access to a toilet and shower, which we were advised on arrival were not available. So it’s peeing under the stars - and while we could live without shower facilities for our one-night stay, you’d struggle to stay longer than that with no access to running water. We spent a wonderful night here, it was very romantic and we would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind getting up close and personal with the great outdoors.

    Kayya2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I’ll just briefly refer the text of this listing against the reality of the accommodation: I should have looked more closely at the photos. It was just so expensive - over £250 a night - that I made some assumptions about quality and probity I shouldn’t have made. Anyway, this “magical” wigwam is not magical. It is wigwam shaped, yes, with mattresses inside, in the corner of a small suburban garden. It accommodated some under-10s ok, but I cannot conceive the situation in which eight adults would sleep there unless they were fleeing a war zone. It has some fairy lights strung inside, but is otherwise no more spacious or luxurious than a tent. It is an unfathomably large amount of money to spend on sleeping in a tent in someone’s modest garden. You are allowed to sleep in the house if it gets too cold, the blurb says, which we two adults did. More on that later. The “firepit” is actually a patch of scorched grass surrounded by stones, piled with bits of old junk which you’re invited to set fire to. We had to pick out lengths of plastic cable before we started. Because it isn’t sunken or in any other way designed, every gust of wind blows an acrid ash all over the garden and into the house, which might explain the ghostly, Marie-Celeste feeling of the kitchen. It’s true that there is a hot tub and a sauna, sitting in the two corners of the garden, almost but not quite masking a side-return full of rubbish. It looks like some multi-media students are making a dystopian, low-budget thriller set in a Big Brother house. There aren’t any towels. No, sorry, eventually we found some towels, four in all, whose collective life span I would put at about 37 years. There aren’t enough plates, or any serving bowls, and all the cookware is thick with baked-on grease. Inside the house, none of the surfaces were clean and I don’t think a single cupboard door was fixed squarely on its hinges. The two bedrooms earmarked for use by the people who inevitably wouldn’t fit in the “magical wigwam” were ok, except for a thin and inexplicable sprinkling of concrete on the downstairs bed. Both rooms were very basic. In the middle of the night, while we were asleep, a “co-host” arrived back (we didn’t hear him, and weren’t expecting anyone: it would have been an epic rip off even if we’d had the place to ourselves, but this was ridiculous). In the morning he yelled at us for not clearing up, which I was staggered by, partly because we had cleared up, but also because it was so filthy when we arrived. "But," I said, opening and closing my mouth like a fish, "you just charged us £250 to sleep in a tent in your garden. How can you think that's ok?" "That's normal," he replied, "Normal where?" "Normal everywhere." I concluded in the end that this was...

  • What an amazing spot! Charlie was a great host, it was short notice, communication was great. He met us on arrival, showed us the site, answered questions, even dropped off fresh milk in the morning! Woodland with a view! Perfect for chilling with friends.

    Si2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great guy! He was very helpful but gave us the space we needed. The woods was ideal for camping. Mostly flat, plenty of trees but not overcrowded and ample resources (Stones for a fire pit, bins and water provided). Definitely will be staying there again.

  • Rural back to basics camping. There are no frills to the site but plenty of charm and location was perfect for our walking weekend.

    Matthew2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was a great host and we had an amazing stay at his beautiful camping spot. I highly recommend this listing for anyone who wants a wild camping experience. The farm and surrounding area is beautiful with plenty of opportunities for walking in the South Downs. Thanks Charlie! We'll be back soon :)

    Joanna2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Shh don't tell anyone about this place! Great, remote wild camping. We were actually on the riverside site, not the woodland one shown. It was great, miles away from roads and people. Charlie and his dad were both friendly and helpful. Spot on, we'll be back soon!

    Peter2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The photos just don’t do it justice. The space is enormous, comfortable and very secluded. Charlie was a great host with great tips on walks that lead to the local pub. There’s even a nice little river for a refreshing dip. It really feels like you’re out in the middle of nowhere. Great!

    Rob2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication, we had to swap campsites at the last minute due to our original one being waterlogged but I would say the new site was even better for our stag group. Set in a great location with a nice view and open space for ball games. The pub next door was ideal! Thanks Charlie.

    Ian2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Once again we had an amazing time at Charlie's farm. Thanks so much for having us and can't wait to come back soon!

Set in a tranquil woodland away from it all. Wake up to the sound of birdsong and step outside to the lush green of the forest. You are surrounded by nature and often see red squirrels, jays and buzzards. My place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and small families with children. This escape would suit nature lovers, anyone wanting to get away from the busyness of city life and people looking for that little slice of serenity.
The bell tent is set on a large platform on the edge of the woodland so you're beneath the trees with mottled sunlight streaming through, it is particularly beautiful. Within your area of the woodland you have a camp fire set up, water connection and picnic table right outside your tent. We now have two lovely green camping chairs for you to use so you can chill out by the fire and in the wonderful woodland setting. There is electricity for lighting and your own devices as well as oil filled radiators to keep you cosy at night. This bell tent has flexible sleeping arrangements with one double and two thin single mattresses. We will make up the double bed and leave bedding for two singles in the wooden box should you need it. We will provide all your bedding and towels. There is a camping utility pod within a short walk from your bell tent. A small kitchen consisting of a fridge, induction hob, kettle, toaster, small baby belling oven, kitchen utensils, plates and bowl, cups and mugs, a shower, toilet, sink and washing machine. This is a self- catering holiday but we will provide your first toilet roll, please make sure you bring toilets rolls with you x we also provide eco hand soap. (We try to keep things as eco friendly here as possible) Whilst you are here you might like to book some family or 1:1 yoga sessions, bushcraft sessions or some creative nature art classes. Please email us prior to your visit to request a price list and to arrange a time for the classes.
We are in a tranquil woodland setting in a small village near to all Island travel routes. The area is peaceful and serene and safe. We are close to Quarr Abbey a beautiful working monastery, it has stunning grounds with a wonderful cafe for lunches or tea, it is a scenic 15 minute walk from your bell tent. Also the beach is only a 10 minute walk from here with beautiful views across the Solent. There is a wonderful restaurant called The Inn on the Lake or the local Pub The Fishbourne Inn.
  • Nice Stay ! Thanks Clare

    Christopher2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space in green and tranquil setting and for us just a short drive from the Fery and to the IOW Festival. Inside the tent is very comfy and well set up with electric bedside lamps & battery fairy lights make it very charming. This is a tenting experience, so some dust is expected; the liberal wood-chip on the outside area keeps this to a minimum. Mosquitoes at the fire pit, so bring repellent and maybe a citronella candle. Shower area is small but adequate. Our favourite part was waking up to the bird song.

  • A very interesting experience for families with young children: a tent in the forest, where you can have a fire and explore the area. Great trip! Please note that the address is on the 'lane', instead of the 'road'.

  • Lovely forest area with everything needed for a calm and comfy stay, will definitely come back when visiting the Isle of Wight! Thank you!

    Lauren2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place was just as advertised, in a quiet location surrounded by nature. What more can you ask for but a spacious tent with a bend and that is what you get :)

    Rafal2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • So beautiful, and the outdoor shower was amazing. Claire was really helpful. Would recommend

    Jasmine2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This tent is brill. Clare has thought about it all. It's been laid out well, nice decking, camp fire area at the bottom, torch, fairy lights, very comfy bed, I could go on. No camp chairs but we saw that it didn't before so we bought our own. Also no firewood, so bring some along. Shower and kitchen facilities were brill too.

  • We stayed in the safari tent for 5 days, as a party of 6 adults with a small dog and had a really great experience. The accommodation was very clean, exactly as pictured and included all amenities as described. The view and scenery were beautiful and it was very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. There are lots of lovely walks, local pubs with excellent quality food and a well stocked local shop and butchers for self-catering meals. Buffy was an excellent host, very welcoming and helpful. There was lots of information provided on the local area...we just ran out of time to do it all!! Our little dog loved it, lots of space to play ball and go for long walks. We would definitely recommend the safari tent and would love to go back again for a longer stay. Thank you to Buffy for a great time.

    Kelly-Marie2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The luxury safari tent was exactly as described in a nice secluded field. Buffy was very helpful prior to our arrival and although Buffy was away her stand-in host gave us a very warm welcome. The environment was great for the family and the children loved the swing, the space and the ability to make loads of noise without disturbing others.

    Matthew2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome by Buffy. The place was just great, Buffy has thought of everything. Despite rain right through the week we still had an awesome time and would recommend this accomodation to everyone.

    Kevin2016-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This really does look exactly as the photos show. All the surprises we had were positive ones. Everything provided was of top quality and outstandingly clean. The children loved it. I was worried that there may be loads of mosquitos but there were none! Lots of kites and pheasants though. The huge swing will be something that the children will always remember fondly. Thoroughly recommend this place

  • A really lovely spot and fantastic accommodation. Everything went very smoothly and made for a great weekend.

    Matthew2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • All 5 of us had a delightful time at the safari tent. It was exactly as described, yet still surpassed our expectations! Buffy has stocked the tent full of useful items, and really has thought of everything. The beds were warm and comfy, and the log burners kept us toasty warm! The surroundings are just beautiful, and made for a very happy time. We will definitely recommend to our friends, and we're not surprised that reviews are so positive. Well done, Buffy, and thank you for a special and memorable holiday.

    Lucy2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The tent and the surroundings are wonderful. We stayed for 4 days and it was the perfect place to unwind and get away. The tent is big, and warm thanks to the arga. The local villages of East and West Meon were a pleasant surprise, and well worth venturing to for pub lunches. Buffy is an excellent host and we can't wait to stay again.

  • We have just come back from a really fun weekend at Charlie's. The kids had so much space to run around and loved the bell tent. Charlie sorted a BBQ and charcoal for us, arranged firewood and kindling (and came to our rescue with more wood and kindling the second day, when the rain had wet our first lot!!) and brought fresh cows milk for us in the morning. I would highly recommend this camping experience for anyone who wants a proper get away, in some beautiful countryside. Also highly recommend The Royal Oak in West Lavington for a truly delicious Sunday roast. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you Charlie

  • Lovely tent and secluded spot. Charlie was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay

    Jen2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Booked the tent for a few days. It was a bit on the pricey side but considering it was as a last minute arrangement on a bank holiday weekend it's probably fair enough. Nice open area, beautiful hills around - great spot for camping if you're just looking to get out and enjoy some nature. Charlie is a wonderful host. Spot on communication. Fire logs and a barbecue provided, at an extra. The tent was pretty big. Air mattresses and plenty of electric lights provided. All in all, a pleasant stay

  • Beautiful clean tent in a gorgeous place. Would definetely recommend

    Odile2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We all really enjoyed our stay at Egypt Farm, Eliza and her family where very welcoming and extremely helpful. Eliza's husband provided us with directions/map and we set about venturing (getting lost) to the local pub for dinner (all part of the fun). Next time we would opt for the farm meat and salad to have a BBQ. We loved setting up and sitting around the firepit watching the sunset and then late in to the evening to count the stars - wood/kindling could be bought from the farm at just £6 a bag which was more than a enough for a nights stay (we took some home for our chimney) We slept okay, as the tent was flapping in the night, this was rectified by tightened the tent cords. Our daughter loved the farming aspect of the stay, feeding the piglets and collecting a fresh egg from the hens was a well welcomed surprise. The follow morning's weather (mild rain) made it difficult to prepare coffee/cook. It would be awesome if there was an area or system in place that would resolve this. Additionally, it was unfortunate that there was damage to one of the bean bags as this did make sitting around the fire a tad snug and slightly uncomfortable. We totally are considerate of the fact that this was out of Eliza's control and none of this would affect our feedback negativity and we're already planning our next stay. Tips for future stays - Take boots, wellies incase it rains (otherwise you might get soggy trainers, shoes) - Personal preference - An eye sleep mask would be great in the summer as it gets light early. - If using the firepit - prepare to wear clothing that you don't mind getting the smell of smoke on (Onesies are great)

  • We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend a trip here for anyone who is looking for maximum relaxation. Still can't get over how amazing the sun sets were from our bell tent. The facilities were great...loved the shower! The hosts made us feel so welcome and we had everything we needed. Highly recommend the sausages and the lovely homemade bread! We will definitely be back here again.

    Amelia2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly magical place to stay. There are lots of details that make the tent, field and outdoor facilities feel homely and welcoming. The equipement provided was excellent (including a picnic blanket and cooler box!). Eliza was incredibly flexible and understanding with the changes in our plans, and provided such detailed photos of the location. She was always incredibly prompt in responding to any queries we had. The weather was truly abysmal, with heavy rains and winds, and yet the tent was warm and dry. We are planning to come back again! It's a truly wonderful place to be.

  • Couldn't have been better. Highly recommended. Lovely people A stars all round

    Keith2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza and her family were very friendly and we felt welcome. The tent is wide, clean and absolutely quiet.

    Bénédicte2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • I have to say that this was one of my best airbnb experiences. Eliza had thought of everything. The bellpad tent itself was wonderfully kitted out with a double bed, linen, towels, cushions, bean bags, all the crockery and bbq equipment you could need and more. There was toilet nearby complete with fairylights for visits in the night and a hot shower and washing up station a little further along. I can't tell you just how much attention to detail had been put into very element. If you choose this airbnb you absolutely have to buy some of their organic food. We bought steak, sausages, eggs, cheese, butter and salad with edible flowers, all of which were so delicious we are considering visiting in the future just to purchase the food. In addition to all this Eliza was incredible at helping me organise this booking as it was a surprise for my partners birthday. Eliza couldn't have been more helpful in answering my multitude of questions. I couldn't more highly recommend. x

  • ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE WEEKEND! Melissa was a star host, she picked me up from Seaford train station and took me on a little tour of the beautiful area. She even up-graded me from a bell tent to a tipi and helped me build a fire. The place is magical, tucked away on a campsite, you are surrounded by horses and rolling green hills. There are clean bathrooms, showers and a beautiful river you can walk to. The weather was perfect as well which helped, there was a bit of a thunderstorm for an hour, which let a bit of water in to the tipi- however within an hour there was someone there to check up on me and offer new bedding! This was by far the most memorable Airbnb I have ever stayed in. I will be returning very soon. If you are looking for a weekend away, to just relax, be with nature and go on some nice walks - this is the place to go! I am not an experienced camper, so having a proper bed and comfy beautiful bedding made it so perfect. Melissa has wonderful taste in decor and it truly a perfect weekend. Thank you!

  • From the sparkling clean plumbed-in toilet, open shower, the storage shed to the tent with its fairy lights and cozy comfy airbeds, we had a lush time at Jill's place.

  • Fantastic night away. Jill couldn't be more accommodating and welcoming. The facilities are great and incredibly clean. We also really appreciated the cake... Thank you for everything, We will definitely be back with friends!

    Emily2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The place and the host both are exceptional. The place/camp was exactly as it was said on the website. We stayed there with our kids and they really loved the place, animals (cows, horses, chickens, peacocks and pigs). The other thing cannot be forgotten was the host Jill and the delicious cake she freshly made. If we come to isle's again we definitely go there to stay.

    Neelima2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Jill’s lovely tent. She was much helpful throughout our stay, providing us helpful tips and showing a constant availability. The tent is a lovely and well equipped place, full of thoughtful and practical details that will make your stay most enjoyable. We wish to come back there soon!

    Julie2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jill and her family were so welcoming and kind. We were on our honeymoon and couldn't have chosen a more private, peaceful and romantic place. The facilities were excellent and everything was thought of. Nothing was too much trouble and piglets were even born whilst we were there! Thank you so much!

    Louella2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the bell tent, and were sorry that we only came for one night! The surroundings were lovely, and the tent field was even more magical and fun that it seemed in the pictures. The shower was amazing. Jill was such a lovely host and made us feel very welcome, without making us feel smothered. She could answer all our questions and the surprise Victoria Sponge cake was so lovely. I would really love to come back with my children next summer.

    Suzie2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the farm. We arrived with high expectations after reading the reviews and we weren't disappointed. 5 of us managed to fit nicely in the bell tent and we were also lucky enough to have 2 nights stay in the Shepherds hut as the weather was so bad when we arrived. Jill very kindly offered it to us as it was available at that time. I can honestly say after a weeks holiday there it will be one my family and I never forget. The kids got to feed the lambs milk, pick eggs, see the pigs, sit in a tractor as well as all the other things the Isle of Wight had to offer. The setting itself is absolutely stunning and as other people have said on here, the photos don't do it justice. Sitting outside with a glass of what you fancy whilst the kids were fast asleep was just lovely. You can watch the sun set whilst keeping warm by the fire and then watch all the little lights come on at dusk. It really was stunning. We can't fault our stay in anyway. Jill and her family are so lovely and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible by being available 24/7. Jill baked us an amazing cake on our arrival which we devoured. Provided us with all the fire logs and kindling we could need and we really got the impression nothing was too much trouble. The outside shower was an experience! And sitting on the toilet with the view of the 'moo-ing' cows was a real treat. We can't fault the cleanliness of the facilities at all and the tent was also spotless. Our kids had an amazing time as did we and we will most definitely be back.

  • Good value, friendly host. Lovely miniature ponies and Alpaca's in adjacent field which was nice. A bit noisy at night with road traffic and aircraft overhead. Nice caravan to eat and basic cooking facilities however the shower and chemical toilet is attached and a little too near cooking and food as even though there is a door to bathroom, it is open at the top and can feel like it is the same room.

    Amanda2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful farm with a wonderful family. We loved all of it and so did our kiddies. And such lovely touches - leaving us marshmallows for roasting, charcoal/ firewood, cookies and even a bottle of wine. I would recommend this lovely little place to everyone, especially if you have children x

    Tamasin2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was absolutely amazing. The children were so happy and it was a real adventure with all the animals etc. I can recommend to 100%. Romantic and child friendly and the interior is cute / cosy in every little detail.

    Sara2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! The Shepherd's Hut was fantastic and the children loved the tents and trampoline! Rebecca was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much!

    Ruth2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are thinking about getting away for a few days this is the perfect place. The set up is idilic and Rebecca and her family could not be more welcoming and friendly. The children loved the animals and grooming and walking the ponies as well as exploring the land. We had a fantastic Time at Fishers Farm and walks in the county side followed by coffee and cake at The Milk Churn. Relaxing around the fire pit in the evening was the end to perfect days. I would certainly recommend this to anybody and be back next year again.

    Eleanor2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful weekend & were very comfortable in the well equipped hut & the tents. Rebecca & Boris were fantastic hosts, making us feel extremely welcome and helping us to make full use of all their amenities - swimming, playing tennis, collecting eggs, grooming ponies, providing firewood, suggestions for running routes and day outs. They really ensured we had an amazing time & the children adored being with all the animals. Thank you both.

    Susana2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really wonderful stay in the bell tents and shepherds hut. Absolutely stunning location - we loved watching the ponies, goats and alpacas and seeing the rabbits hopping in and out of their warren! A great space for cooking in the open and enjoying the great outdoors. We all loved the swimming pool and tennis courts too. Everything we needed in terms of washing-up liquid, utensils, cutlery etc. Made camping a whole lot less hassle. Toasting marshmallows in the fire under a beautiful starry sky was a particular highlight! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Kate2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time! Everything upfront- communication, flexibility, check-in, information about local to-dos - made the trip so laid back and relaxing even before it started. And when you arrive at Bucks Green Place (even in typical English weather) you feel like you have entered a peaceful, secluded little piece of land that you only need to share with chicken, ponies, alpacas, rabbits and cats. Rebecca and Boris were perfect hosts and explained everything to us and took extra care of showing my girls how to groom and feed the ponies and pet chicken. We stayed in the Shepards Hut but slept in one of the bell tents which were made up with air mattresses. There has been a lot of attention to detail in decorating the hut and it is really cosy and at the same time very practical. BBQ and outside fire place including logs and charcoal and enough space for the kids to run around made this a great get away. There is a decent pub in walking distance and the local shop has everything you need. This was our first airbnb experience and the standards have been set pretty high now ;-).

  • Our entire family enjoyed Buffy's hospitality in West Meon tremendously and we all agree that our glamping experience was something truly special and unique during our UK holiday. Firstly the camp site is just stunning with views across the sloping fields and hills, with a well positioned church tower in the distance among the greenery. A walking path leads downhill between the fields into the tree shrouded West Meon village. Our first night we walked down for a delicious dinner at The Thomas Lord pub and then back in the dark. Village also has small general shop and a butcher if you want BBQ supplies. Walking paths abound, with a nice day spent walking to nearby Exton and having another fantastic pub lunch at The Shoe. The tent is well organized and appointed, with wood burning stove and comfortable beds and thick enormous soft towels. Great hot shower with good water pressure. Very luxurious. On our last night we made a fire outside and roasted marshmallows, all thoughtful touches thanks to Buffy. Highly recommend. Definitely suggest getting to site during daylight hours.

  • We had the most amazing holiday here and highly recommended it! The lodge itself was outstanding, will lovely touches and in an amazing location. It was a joy to interact with the animals on the farm and watch the wildlife around us. Trudi and her daughter were so welcoming and kind. They gave us great tips on where to go explore and were lovely to talk to. If your looking for to immerse yourself in nature and truly unwind this is the place for you:)

My place is close to great views, restaurants and dining, family-friendly activities, and the beach. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the light, the comfy bed, and the ambiance. My place is good for couples and families (with kids). Bella has everything provided for you except towels and food and drink. we have no electric, but led twinkle lights and lanterns. You can have your own campfire outside, toast marshmallows, glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
Our Bell tent can be in the adults only field , or the family field The adults only field looks out over to the south downs across horse paddocks . Where our Barn owl is nesting in the oak tree. In the family field we have other tents only around the edge of a very large field, all cars are parked outside the camping field after unloading so that the children can run and play safely. we have plenty of room for kite flying ,rounders ,cricket just to name a few. Inside the bell tent you will find that it is carpeted with coir matting and carpet and rugs. double bed with memory foam topper will be made up ready for your stay. Extra guests have air beds provide and bedding packs are available for extra fee £20 per bed pack. candelabra hangs in the center of the bell tent giving off light in the evening and heat .All round the edge are led twinkle Moroccan lights and couple of lanterns. small chest of drawers holds gas lighter, guest book ,nail files, coloring book and pencils for children. There is an table with 2 chairs plus picnic table for the children a fold up washing and prep station and BBQ these can all be kept outside. outside next to the door in a container you will find all your cooking stuff in ,saucepan.kettle ,plates, glasses, gas cooker utensils..... Campfire are allowed and we sell logs and kindle on site.
We have 3 pubs within walking distance, all very good. A garage is just down the road for supplies. Hailsham is our nearest market town and has 3 big supermarkets. We are located in the tranquil Sussex countryside on the edge of the South Downs Country Park, at the head of the Cuckmere valley. Walking, cycling, or motoring, it is well placed for exploring the area. we are close to Ashdown Forest, The High Weald and the Sussex Coast. There are plenty of places to walk and visit. Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes and Brighton are within easy reach. This area is steeped in history, Battle Abbey the site of the battle of Hastings. Historic castles at Bodiam, Hever, Lewes and Pevensey. Lots of National Trust properties and beautiful gardens. Too many to mention.
  • The kids and I had a really lovely time, everything there we needed and the tent is very spacious and comfortable. My kids slept very well on the futon mattress. Not the prettiest countryside in immediate vicinity but lots of nice places a short drive away. Michelham Priory was a lovely day out and extremely peaceful. The following day we drove to Alfriston and on to Birling Gap and swam in the sea.

  • We had such a lovely experience here. Would recommend it. We all slept like babies, even though the on site pet cat snuck into our tent at 1am :) p.s. he's very friendly haha

  • Clare is a great host and her retreat is a wonderful little secret hidden in a great location giving easy access to the north of the island. Well worth a visit.

  • The Big bell tents are awesome to stay in. Super comfy! We had use of a glorious outdoor bathroom , outside cooking pod including fridge and a campfire. There are a couple of places within walking distance for food and it’s close to the ferry. If you are using the campfire i recommend bringing bbq tongs and if there are a few of you bring seats. It had been raining when we were there so the covers on bench in the picture were sodden. We had a visitor at night - a little cat. Very friendly, but knew how to get in the tent even when closed and kept us up all night!

  • The four of us stayed here for my birthday and couldn't be happier with the experience. Clare was lovely and happy to give us local tips, including where to find the awesome secret bay perfect for the heatwave we are having. The accommodation was perfect for they type of holiday we were after, with great toilet and shower facilities. Thanks Clare! :)

  • Vicki’s safari tent is the perfect haven to enjoy the beautiful rolling hills of the Isle of Wight, and to enjoy quality time together as a family. The tent is full of all the modcons you need (electricity, a stove, a fridge, super comfy beds..) but is still a fun glamping experience (fire pit, cosy indoor fire, outdoor shower). We absolutely loved the meadow surrounding the tent, with wild flowers and streams perfect for hanging out together, and bbq’ing. The Isle of Wight is stunning and the location of the tent is great for getting around and seeing the island. Vicki and her husband were very kind to give us detailed written instructions of dog walks nearby, which was fun to navigate! There’s a local pub within walking distance which was perfect for a drink in the sunshine. Vicki provided some yummy eggs from her hens on the nearby farm which was a great finishing touch. I would definitely recommend this place for a fun weekend with the family - it would be especially great for kids, and our golden Labrador has never been happier! Thanks Vicki, we will be back :)

  • Cannot say anything but good things about Egypt house farm. My Wife and I booked for some peace and relaxation to disconnect from the busy day to day and recharge our batteries. Eliza and her family were always on hand to help if needed and you are always greeted with a smile. We will be recommending Egypt house farm to friends, and would definitely stay again

    Nick2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at Eliza's place in East Sussex. Our bell tent was in a beautiful, tranquil spot over-looking the rolling Sussex countryside. We enjoyed sitting out late around our campfire, under a canopy of stars, and waking (in a double bed) to the distant noises of mooing and baaing from the farm animals. Our 18 month yr old loved feeding the pigs and hens and visiting the sheep in the neighbouring field. The tents were well stocked for cooking round a campfire / bbq and the facilities were clean and functional. Eliza was at hand to answer any questions / provide anything we needed - I recommend buying the local produce from the farm (including the delicious home-made bread). Spectacular views, peace and quiet and the chance to explore Eliza and Mikel's charming organic farm.

  • Excellent relaxing stay with great views and clean comfortable tent. Thoroughly enjoyed the local produce and outdoor shower, hosts were extremely friendly and helpful.

    Ignacio2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The trip was fantastic. Eliza and her husband had thought of everything so that we didn't have to bring all of the bits and bobs for camping with us. The meat from the farm was lovely and the views from the tent were gorgeous. Would definitely go back, perfect for a relaxing night stay away. Thank you very much.

    Shantella2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful few days away! The tent was so spacious and provided with everything you could need and more. The views were spectacular, and Eliza was such a great host!! Will definitely come back and stay as it's the perfect escape from busy city life.

    Emma2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic! The kind of camping trip of which you dream. Eliza and Mikkle were perfect, super kind and friendly, hosts and had thought of every single detail. The views were just incredible and the animals (safely behind fences) were beautiful. Kids particularly appreciated feeding the pigs and collecting eggs. They are desperate to go back- as are we! Cannot recommend it highly enough!

    Ian2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. The tent and site were exactly as shown. Beautiful and very remote but with good village facilities nearby. The hosts are friendly and quick to respond to all queries. There are excellent instructions on how to use everything so even a non-camper like me could figure out everything! Our children are desperate to return!

  • We booked very last minute and Charlie got back to us straight away with all the info we needed! Charlie met us at the farm house and he kindly drove us down to our spot with all our stuff, we even managed to get the perfect pitch alongside the river! We only stayed the night, so didn't use the toilet/shower (but would of been a small walk to get to them if we did) but we did have a drink at the local pub, which was a 10 minute walk away! We had the perfect night away, and if you are after wild camping, then this is the place to be (side note, we didn't see a sole when we were there, when apparently there were quite a few campers, so you seemingly have the whole place to yourself) Book a stay, you won't regret it!

    Suzi2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had fab time on hottest weekend of the year. Great site, loads of space. Basic camping.... don't come if you want fancy things like taps and loos that flush. Do come if you like loads of space, great views, open fires and jumping in a freezing river! And great little pub around the corner. We will be back. To note though - if it is hot bring gazebos as shade fairly limited and check you know which way the sun comes up and max the morning shade from the trees.

    Liz2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was great, kind and welcoming. The meadow campsite was fantastic, nicely secluded and beautiful. We all really enjoyed staying there and want to go back next year for a second time. When we arrived Charlie drove us to the site and when we left we were also picked. Everyone was kind and welcoming. I honestly can't find any faults.

    Jonathan2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time camping on Charlie's farm. He is a great host, the location is beautiful (and it really does feel like you have the place to yourself), and the optional tents we hired from him made it a really special experience. He will bring you fresh water and firewood, and he's really helpful with clearing away rubbish at the end of your stay. I would really recommend camping here if you're looking for some space and a cheaper alternative to glamping websites!

    Will2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for camping. Wonderful view, not to far from town.

    Gabriel2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for quiet basic camping, this is the place. It's rare to find somewhere that you don't feel crowded and we really enjoyed our stay. Wood and milk delivered if you need it, pristine portaloos and showers a short walk away. Friendly and helpful host, cannot recommend enough. Many thanks for making us so welcome!

  • The campsite is surrounded by beautiful views and provides the perfect environment for an enjoyable weekend of camping. Charlie was always responsive and ensured that we were satisfied for the duration of our visit with firewood and ice readily available whenever. The campsite was situated in a field containing two other campsites but the distance between the sites is large enough that you feel you have complete privacy. I would definitely recommend staying at one of these campsites.

  • Great host. Lovely site by the river.

  • We had a blast at Charlies farm. From the beauty of the bluebell woods, to the lovely sunset from our hill, to the cold but pretty river swims, it was great. Charlie supplied us with water and logs, and basically let us get on with it, checking in on us occasionally. The local pub is a five minute walk, and you can watch the cows being milked while you wait for the shower. What more could you need. Basic, wild camping, a friendly host and a great location.

    Jonny2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and great hosts.

    Kyle2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Camping when it rains sucks doesn’t it? Well, this one didn’t. We got 40 dry wood logs and a iron fire pit for £20 which lasted us two nights of singing by the fire. It is a farm. You are surrounded by cows. You need to walk 10min through a field to shower. It’s good fun. The field has two porter-loos with toilet paper, flush and hands-cleaning amenities. There is no trash anywhere. The area is lovely to walk around and the river is literally 5min away from this field. Highly recommend camping here. Ps. Whilst you’re here drive down to West Wittering beach for a good walk and pictures ready to put up on your walls when you’re back home, and Kingley Vale National reserve to see one of worlds oldest trees and the set of Lord of the Rings.

    Zuzanna2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Camping on Charlie’s farm was utterly beautiful. For back to basics fun, you can’t beat swimming in the river and exploring the surrounding countryside on bikes. Highly recommend for a relaxing, natural weekend away from London

  • Beautiful location, and great welcome from Charlie. Very attentive and helpful throughout stay with advice on local walks and spots. We paid for the 5m Bell Tent which was perfect for 6 of us. Also a great river bear our camp spot to call off in. Would definitely recommend.
