Places to stay in Eaglehawk Neck
An original 1960's Tasmanian fishing shack, my lovely home features stunning views directly overlooking Little Norfolk Bay, 3 bedrooms, and a wood fire. Just 10 mins to Port Arthur, and 45 mins from the airport, my home has super fast WIFI, local artwork from Australian artists, and many good vibes! Come stay and get ready to explore the South East.
Welcome to my shack. Within an hour drive of Hobart, the house is the perfect weekend getaway. My home is super cosy, makes you feel welcome straight away and has plenty of charm and decorated with love. If you want a 5 star hotel, this is not it! The shack has lots of natural light, is beautifully decorated and tidy, with amazing views. It can get cold in the winter, but we have a wood fire, heater and plenty of blankets. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 very comfy double beds and one sofa bed (a king single or small double) for extra guests, plus with a large desk, with very fast WIFI.
The house is located on Arthur Hwy, with Little North Bay directly opposite, giving amazing water views and ease of finding the house. Things to do on the Tasman Peninsula: Nature - Pirate Bay lookout (before you get to Eaglehawk Neck from Hobart), the far end of White Beach is really pretty or drive out to Lime Bay (dirt road). If you want to see some Tasmania devils, there is the Unzoo a couple of minutes from the house. Active - there's a ton of hikes locally: Waterfall Bay (easy), Cape Huay, Shipstern Bluff (3 hours), The Lanterns, Fortescue Bay (4 hours worth it!), the 3 Capes just opened - looks amazing! History - If history is more your thing, Port Arthur convict settlement run amazing tours and is only 10km south of the house. Recommend the boat tour, and taking most of the day to explore. Also near Lime Bay is the Coal Mines, a nice walk if the weather is good. Food - Eat yummy fresh food; cherries (just south of Sorell is cherry farms, stop and grab some for the ride. The A9 heads south and is a beautiful drive), cray rolls (in Dunalley stop at the general store on Booth St and grab fresh cray rolls for lunch, yum. There's a viewing pull out over looking Dunalley Bay when you leave Dunalley - the sand ridges and turquoise water are beautiful), oysters (on the deck with a cold chardonnay), amazing locally made chutney, pickled fruit, quince (Nubenna op shop open Tues 10-3, Fri 10-3, Sat 10-1), fish and chips (Eaglehawk Neck near the pier, open late Sept - late May) Shopping - Op shopping is great in rural areas; Salvos (Station Lane, Sorell), Vinnies (Sorell), antiques at Murdunna (tiny old Post Office converted into a treasure trove of goodies), Nubenna (behind the petrol station, by the tennis courts), Dunalley (behind the community centre). Chill at the house - cheese platter on the deck, red wine by the fire, board games galore, read a book, and make sure you walk down to the jetty with some blankets and check out the stars… Hobart: MONA for the day (you can drive (easy), hire bikes (hard), or get the MONA ferry (fun - but an extra $20 on your ticket price), Tasmanian Muséum and Art Gallery is worth the trip, book an adorable and individual room at the gorgeous Hotel Alabama run by Kelly and Aeron in town, Mt Wellington for views, Criterion Street Cafe for breakie, or coffee at Betsys on Argyle st and say g'day to Charlie the owner. Extra time: Coles Bay, Strathgordon, Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, Trainee National Park, Bruny Island, Launceston gorge, The Apple Shed (best cider in Tasmania, and yummy cheese platters) plus great drives. *Please start your message with HOLA FRANKIE so I know you've read this!*
  • I stayed at Frankie's shack for 1 night with Friends who were visiting from Singapore and South Africa. The shack was in an excellent location close to Port Arthur which we visited on the first day and Fortescue which visited in the second day. The shack had a very homely feel with lots of cool furniture. We all really felt at home. Frankie was very easy to communicate with and provided all the info we needed promptly. Would defiantly recommend and hope to stay again!

  • Frankie's house is great - and to a group of designers staying over, we were impressed with the look and feel of it (very cool!!). Brilliant central location to Port Arthur, Tasman Arch, Tessellated Pavement & other natural attractions. Frankie was super helpful in correspondence & had great tips on great local locations to take photos of. Will definitely be back!

    Rohan2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Frankie's place is vibrant and colourful, with plenty of photo opportunities at every corner. Her detailed information provided way before our trip allowed us a hassle-free experience when we arrived, and she was always prompt in answering any queries we had online even though she was not physically present. Would definitely love to be back.

    Lester2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Frankie's Tassie Design Shack was a fun place to escape. We loved the joy-filled decor and the clear communication signs throughout. It's a great place to unplug for a day or two. Frankie was understanding when an unavoidable mishap occurred and clearly communicated throughout the process. Thanks Frankie!

  • Close to Port Arthur quant little place neat and tidy

    Mandy2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The responses from the host were instant and she provided all the details and information before we checked in and also made sure that our stay was very smooth. The place is a bit far from Hobart and right in front of the lake which makes it an ideal vacation home.

  • Frankie's place Gorgeous. The location of the house is great for exploring the area. We lighted the fire and had a warm and happy night in this cosy home. In the morning the good views in front of the windows surprised us. Thanks for having us for a memorable night, can't wait to come back again!

Ocean views positioned in a stunningly safe, stylish, clean and natural environment, (3 min walk to beach) I love it here, enjoying the scenic hikes, swimming and snorkelling, watching whales, dolphins, seals & albatross. Walking, loving, dreaming. And just 14 min drive to Port Arthur. Charming, rustic, authentic, warm and clean, full of character and stories. You won't want to leave. See the Southern Aurora lights if you are lucky, and photograph her from the nearby Tessellated Pavement.
My stylish cottage comfortably sleeps 5. There is a bathtub and the rooms are generous. There is a heat pump/airconditoner and electric blankets to keep you cosy and warm. There is no conventional oven, but there is 2 electric hot plates and an electric frypan and a microwave. 3 mins walk and you are in the surf or at the picnic tables overlooking the ocean, looking for whales, dolphins, seals and albatross. Go to sleep in crisp white linens, washed and line dried keeping your travel as eco as possible. It is rustic, but very clean, light, sunny and full of ambience.
Pirates Bay Beaches (2 min walk) Tasman Island Cruises (20 mins drive to HQ.) Dog Line (Historic Site) 10 min walk. Cubed Expresso, fabulous coffee and world class views at the lookout. (Tell Fabienne and Laurie I sent you!) Lufra Hotel, great meals, local beers and wines etc 20 min walk along the beach, or a 3 minute drive. Tessellated Pavement 15 min walk away. Great place to photograph the Southern Aurora, if the lady is about. Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen, The Blowhole 40 mins walk along beach or 3 min drive. Wood Fired Pizza, 15min walk along beach (or road) at Havenabite takeaway. Port Arthur Historic Site and the Coal Mines, 20 mins drive away. Port Arthur also has a beautiful restaurant, the best kept secret! The multi award winning Three Capes Track begins at Port Arthur, 20 mins away. And much much more !
  • Jillians home is very secluded but set in a quiet location right next to the beach. There are a lot of lookouts and visitation areas that are short drives away. There is no phone reception in the area and you need to come prepared with food, drinks and snacks. Very romantic off the radar experience with a short scenic drive to Port Arthur. Lots to see and experience in these beautiful coastal areas.

    Danielle2017-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location easily accessible to the main sights on the Tasman Peninsula. The space is rustic yet clean making for a comfortable and good value few days.

    Jane2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jillian's house. Totally recommendation.

  • Lovely spacious house with lots of light, great location for Port Arthur and surrounding areas. Great communication and local tips - thanks!

    Shelley2018-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jillian’s place was amazing. It was stylish, clean and big enough for 5 people to live comfortably. There were cooking facilities provided too. Thanks for the pleasant stay!

  • Such a well styled charming beach house. A welcome stop on our tassie adventure :) learnt a thing or two about awesome hosting and what to have in a great space, can’t wait to incorporate this at RnR at Rules Beach QLD. Thanks again

  • This is a cute and very clean home with pretty views! A wombat wandered around the porch one night as we sat outside overlooking the water with a glass of wine! My kids (5 and 7) loved exploring the outdoor area and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. This is a lovely place that I fully recommend!

    Sally2015-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sunny and spascious. Vitali very quick to reply and quick to assist. Fire was enjoyed - wood collected from out the back at the shed and in the bush near by. Also an outside BBQ (gas and wood) which we enjoyed one evening. It is very well supplied even with iron etc. Remember they are on tank water so was careful with water usage. I found the bed a bit hard but the rest of my family were happy. There is a thumping noise which is the water pump. Turned it off at night. Plenty of comfy sitting area. It is pet friendly but the boundry is not fenced off.

    Sarah2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exactly as described and there was a big pile of firewood ready to go, which was great as we arrived at dusk and it was cold. All the instructions, to get the key and on how to use appliances, were clear and easy. Vitali had also given us a fantastic rundown of where to shop, local places to eat, etc. The outside fire pit was a highlight. We sat around on a very cold night, with a big fire burning, and ate toasted marshmallows.

    Nicko2015-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A character filled house with a lovely wood burner. It was very convenient to Port Arthur and the views over the lake were spectacular. The only thing for us as three friends sharing together, we hadn't realised the twin bedroom was accessed by walking through one of the double bedrooms.

    Tracey2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Unforgettable journey, but a little bit too far from town center

    Noel2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was as advertised. We were comfortable, and the kitchen worked well. The views from the deck were good, and the location allowed us to explore that corner of Tasmania.

    Heinrich2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. The outdoor fire is amazing. Great views.

Kestie Cabin is private, self-contained accommodation in the garden of my home, conveniently close to The Port Arthur Historic Site (3 mins by car) and local restaurants. The Three Capes Walk starting point is also nearby. The cabin has a mini-kitchen and undercover bbq area. Provisions for a light breakfast are included. It is ideal for couples and solo adventurers for one night or more.
Kestie Cabin is a spacious and recently renovated studio-style cabin, in the garden of my home, which offers the chance to wind-down and disconnect for a while. There is a TV for the DVD, but no TV reception at the moment. DVDs and board games provided. WiFi is not available, and many guest have enjoyed the opportunity for a 'technology detox. Internet access can be arranged for emergencies, and it is freely available at the historic site. The mini-kitchen has a microwave, toaster, sandwich press, kettle and fridge, and there is an undercover bbq area available for guests to use.
Carnarvon Bay is a beautiful and peaceful location. There is a small community that is a mix between 'locals' and 'shackies'. To find us, travel just past the Historic Site and turn left into Safety Cove Road, turning left into either McCormicks Rd or Pitman Avenue. If you have a boat, you are very welcome to bring it and enjoy fishing out in the bay. The bay is also ideal for kayaking. Nearby restaurants include - 1830, at the Historic Site, The Lavender Farm, Gabriel's at Stewart's Bay Lodge, The Fox and Hounds and the Port Arthur Motel Restaurant. There is no public transport in Port Arthur. A small owner operated taxi service may be able to assist.
  • Great little spot in a prime location to everything including the historic site and the limited amount of food venues. Very close to the mchenry distillery if visiting (recommend)

  • Kathy’s place is sparkling clean and very cosy. There are some good DVD’s to watch with popcorn. Local information is available in a booklet and Kathy is welcoming and friendly. Location is excellent and very close to Port Arthur itself.

  • This quiet cottage is great for getting away from it all. The peaceful gardens and close proximity to the historic site made it very convenient.

The Tin Lantern is a 3bdr two storey house overlooking Pirates Bay and beyond to Antarctica. Just an hour from Hobart & 45mins from the airport, my home sits back on a forested 2.5 acre property with expansive views of the ocean, The Hippolyte's and The Lanterns. This is a place for dreamers, stargazers, hikers, divers and surfers. Sit next to fireplace or enjoy an outdoor fire sauna, read books & magazines from my large collection, explore the rugged Tasman Peninsula, or just reflect & reset.
The Tin Lantern has various eco features, including roof-collected rainwater, 3.5kw of solar, a biocycle septic system, toilet paper from the Who Gives a Crap™ social enterprise, and Dr Bronners™ fair trade organic soaps. Nestled on a wooded incline overlooking Pirates Bay, The Tin Lantern features a cosy wood heater & split firewood (winter only), outdoor fire pit (winter only), four person outdoor fire sauna, outdoor BBQ & cooking area with night lighting, carport, a modern interior with polished floor boards and carpeted bedrooms. There are three bedrooms - two downstairs, one with two single beds and one with a double bed, along with a master upstairs bedroom with a queen bed featuring a private balcony. The first floor has a balcony, large open-plan living room / dining area, with a kitchen and twin breakfast bench chairs. All amenities are included for cooking (pots, pans, etc). There is fast Internet access provided over WIFI (NBN). There is no TV - there is however a large selection of good books & thought provoking magazines around the house, plus beautiful views and great places to go on long walks. I urge guests not to wear shoes inside (Japanese style) - slippers are provided.
Eaglehawk Neck is the beginning of the Tasman Peninsula. Pirates Bay can receive good surf swell, however it is east facing and during summer it's often a very safe swimming beach. Driving around to swim at Doo-Town will provide even gentler conditions (5min by car). If you are wanting to go on an ocean & wildlife tour, be sure to look up Wild Ocean Tasmania who operate a unique and conservation friendly business, board Ocean Prowler, their 10 person adventure boat. During the summer months the famous fish & chip van is at the Blow Hole. Cubed Coffee is also at the Eaglehawk Neck lookout - if you are a coffee aficionado from Melbourne, this is one of the few places in Tassie which gets 5 stars on Beanhunter. There are a myriad of walks and places to visit - Fortescue Bay is stunning, Lime Bay is beautiful and makes a great place for a picnic.
  • Great base for exploring the Tasman Coast

    Gina2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nick’s place would have to be the best in the region. Great views combined with the peaceful serenity of bush life is a sure recipe for a great time!!

    Florian2018-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Nick, we had a great stay! A fantastic location to visit and explore Eaglehawk Neck and Port Arthur, with world -class views looking down over the forest to the sea - highly recommended!

    Chris2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED every minute of our stay at the Tin Lantern. The view was stunning, the kitchen very well equipped, the books and games were ideal, the internet was fast, the firewood was plentiful (and the fire beautiful), the shower pressure and water heat was excellent, the toiletries were sustainable/ethical. We happened to arrive on the night of a severe storm that saw the electricity go out. This meant that we were unable to source running water or flush the toilet for the duration of the outage. When the outage threatened to go for longer than expected, Nick kindly gave us water to drink, buckets with which to flush the toilet, candles, torches and even a gas cooker! Thanks Nick! The location was the perfect base for exploring all that the Tasman Peninsula offers. We wouldn't hesitate to return and will recommend to others!

    Shae2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a Nics place for a couple of nights. Its a gorgeous, private and very comfortable nestled in the forest but within 30 minutes drive of all the things the Tasman Peninsular has to offer. An awesome collection of books to read. While i loved the remoteness, my teenage kids especially loved the high speed internet.

    John2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and views. Cosy, loads of great books .... the perfect place to unwind.

  • Nicks House is settled in the bush and only 6 km from the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen and 2 km to the Scuba diving centre. It is of course very close to Port Arthur. The house is very modern and has everything you need. I would recommend his place to anyone. We will definitely stay here on our next visit Thanks Nick Arne and irina

  • Best place I had stayed so far in Australia. Phil gave me a very warm welcome upon arrival. He even message and recommended me some dining place around and clear direction to his place. The house itself is very well equipped, clean and tidy with beautiful and quiet natural surrounding. Heating in the house was excellent and hot blanket is provided. Wifi in living room was little weak thou but doing fine in bedroom. No problem getting a stronger connection outside as there is heater provided at the corridor. It is a great location & affordable place to stay if u plan to revisit port arthur's historic site on next day again as what I did. Highly recommend this place!

  • Upon our arrival and throughout our stay, Marion and her partner made my friend and I feel incredibly welcomed. The set up is complete with everything you would need to prepare a meal and with information on things to do in the surrounding area (Marion also helped point out a few highlights as well). The beds were incredibly comfortable, complete with electric blankets and the main room has a large window overlooking a pond that attracts local wildlife. I would definitely stay here again when in the area and highly recommend it to anyone passing through the area!

  • Amazing place, outstanding hosts. The rooms are clean and kitchen's well furnished. Marion and Phil are very interesting people, and they helped us a lot finding the right things to see/do in the surrounding area. We loved chatting with you. Also guys, thank again for the great hospitality during nye bbq and the so unusual as exciting "night penguins sightseen :)" You guys made our Tasmanian stay exceptional.

Although family friendly, our newly upgraded shack is the perfect romantic getaway. Boasting water views, open fire and spa it offers the perfect place for a couple. On 5 acres of bush it offers rustic privacy. It has been recently rennovated with a new kitchen with everything you need including a coffee machine, microwave oven and cooktop. For the family, being a family shack we have books ,games, a table tennis table, a very rustic tennis court and a canoe for your use.
On 5 acres of bushland, complete with toys including games, table tennis, jigsaws, books, keyboard etc. The Canadian Canoe is heavy but can be carried with 2 strong people down to the water. There is also a tennis court but you might find that the bounce is a little unpredictable. Magnificent views from every room. Can sleep more than 6 with mattresses on the floor in the playroom on request. The upstairs area has a separate toilet, shower spa bath and 2 bedrooms one with twin single beds and one with a queen size bed. The third bedroom, laundry, toilet and large play room are downstairs and accessed by an outside staircase. Immediately across the road is Sommers bay with access to a ramp 50 metres up the road where you can swim or snorkel. It is quite rocky so water shoes are useful. Further up the road ( about 500m) is a sheltered jetty to fish off with a pontoon to swim to and a picnic table. 500 meters in the other direction is a sheltered sandy beach which is very shallow and when the tide is out there are sandbars for about 200m. Heating is by a wood heater with wood supplied.
    A very quiet shack community
  • Great deck. Fabulous view. Loved our stay. Communication was prompt and easy.

    Jessica2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. Very relaxing with great views. Somers bay is the perfect spot for families with young children. The tennis, table tennis and piano kept us all amused. The new furnishings and fresh paint work looked great.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Debbie's family beach shack. It's a great setting with fantastic views across the bay from the deck. Everything was ready for us and Debbie was very helpful with arrangements for arrival. We would come back again and spend some more time exploring the Tasman Peninsula.

    John2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at Debbie's place! The house is in an awesome spot overlooking the bay and able to watch dolphins from the kitchen. It's completely set up for a great holiday.

    New2016-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie was a very welcoming host and prompt with correspondence. The house was beautiful with ample windows & decking allowing you to properly take in the stunning view. Everything you could possibly need was there; all you have to do is bring your clothes, pick up some food & a wine in Sorrel and you're set to relax! Featuring a spa, tennis, court, table tennis, games and even some canoes, there is plenty to do for the whole family, but would also be the ideal place for a quick getaway for a couple or with a few good friends (might ditch the kids next time!)

    Steve2016-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie's house was great. Overlooking the sea, with a huge deck, and lots of outdoor room, it was the perfect place to relax. There was a table tennis table, tennis court, and boat to keep us entertained, as well as lots of books and games indoors. Thanks for the wonderful stay, and we hope to be back in the future.

So close to all the tourist spots and yet far enough away to enjoy the serenity. We look forward to our next stay at Phoenix Farm because we will definitely be back.

  • We had a fantastic night at Phoenix Farm. The self contained cottage is incredible value, clean, well equipped and has a great view. Mike's past life in the restaurant trade became clear when he brought out an amazing seafood platter complete with scallop mornay for dinner. Wow! It was an amazing start to our Tassie holiday. Breakfast was also delish and we were able to pick up some homemade jam from Mike's farm stall on the way out. Highly recommend.

  • Phoenix Farm is a warm & welcoming home away from home. Farm animals such as Terry the Turkey are a delight to interact with. Mike is a kind & joyful host with outstanding chef skills & catered for my special dietary requirements. Noel gave us some great garden advice. The property presentation will leave us with very fond memories of a great Tasmanian experience.

    Ivy2018-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Attractively decorated house with a lovely view. Ideal holiday let for a family holiday but a little unwelcoming being a self checkin and no host to greet you as normal in Airbnbs, (but it does say self check in in the description). Immediate response from Sam to address a problem with the fire so all good in the end. Thoroughly reccomended for a family holiday.

Need a break? Escape the city hum drum and retreat to the beautiful Tasman Peninsula ... breathtaking scenery, fascinating history and friendly locals! With gorgeous views and waterfront position, you are sure to enjoy your stay at the cosy Brick Point Cottage.
Brick Point has two bedrooms, the master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The cottage is self contained with fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with walk in shower and separate laundry with washer and dryer.
  • Nice and cute little holiday house, fantastic views and garden. Very quiet, and comfortable beds.

    Silvia2014-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Spent two nights exploring the Tasman peninsula. The cottage is very retro but feels clean and fresh. Great view of the water and a very peaceful and secluded location.

    Hannah Purnima2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage in a wonderful location. Quiet and secluded but central to explore all the sights of Tasman Peninsula. The cottage is cosy and warm, with the wood fire and extra heating if needed( wood fire was perfect). Comfy beds, plenty of towels and the basics provided in the kitchen. The little out house is the laundry, including washing machine and drier, very handy :-) The cottage also backs onto the water front. A lovely view from the deck. From the cottage walk /jog the short coastal trail into Port Arthur historic site. You can keep going through to Stewart’s Bay. Lunch and coffee at the lavender farm is a must, so is the boat trip around Tasman peninsula. Cape Raoul walking track is now like a well maintained garden path, a terrific walk and just a short drive from the cottage. We shopped at Sorrell before arriving, however the local shops in Nubeena and Port Arthur are pretty good , including fresh seafood.

    Felicity2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Communication before our arrival was great. The arrival instructions were perfect. The location of the property was beautiful! Perfect setting with the garden leading down to the bay. We liked it so much stayed there twice! The cottage has everything you might need. It was spacious and we loved the open fire for a chilly evening. It was lovely to have a barbecue too. There was also a good selection of dvd's to watch in the evening. The place was so peaceful and relaxing. We could have stayed a lot longer! We really loved it there! Thank you!

  • Excellent location - only a short 5 min drive from Port Arthur Historic Site Only that there aren't supermarkets nearby but it isn't a problem coz we stock up our food on the way to Port Arthur. Fully equipped house with kitchen and laundry services; each bed is fitted with heated blanket, 2 portable heaters and the fireplace which keeps us warm esp during the winter!

    Port Arthur, TAS, Australia

Port Arthur, Eaglehawk Neck and 3 Capes Walk are easily accessible from our home. We offer a luxurious ensuite off the main porch, beautiful scenery, birds, wild fauna & flora in serene magnificent setting & discount rates for 2+ days. The Tas pine-lined house interior creates irresistible charm & the genuine structural celerytop pine trunk is eye-catching. There are stupendous views from each room with shoreline & pebble beach bordering the garden. Home-cooked meals may be arranged if required.
Our property is situated on a one acre natural bush block which runs down to King George Sound which is part of the Norfolk Bay. From the house, verandah and shoreline there are clear views of Mount Wellington, King George and Smooth Islands and the hills of the surrounding areas across the bay. The sunset and water views (from each room even the bathroom) are arguably amongst the best in the world and the property, despite being situated on the coast, is wind-protected under most weather conditions. When the conditions require it the house is heated by a wood fire in the lounge. The accommodation on offer is of two types. The base cost quoted is for 1 or 2 people sharing ONE room and one bed, i.e. Bedroom 1. This bedroom is a luxurious guest ensuite bedroom which contains a queen size bed that is fabulously comfortable. The ensuite includes a basin, shower and toilet. The guests have the entire east bedroom wing of the house to themselves and can enjoy time on their own in their own space or join us in the shared kitchen or lounge/dining room if they wish. The bedroom is approached through an entrance hall which offers extra privacy and a buffer zone. A second bedroom is available if a group is larger than 2 guests but please note that the cost and access to this room is only available at an additional cost. This second room is a woodlined studio/bungalow which is IN A SEPARATE BUILDING to the main house. This bedroom is a standard room and therefore is not a deluxe standard as is Bedroom 1. If this second room is required guests would still be sharing the bathroom in the guest section of the main house. Only guests from the same group would have access to the guest bathroom ensuring guest privacy. The studio guests would also have full access to the shared facilities in the main house. Our property is not suitable for young children (those who can crawl or walk) - the sea is at the bottom of the garden and easily accessible; the ornaments are displayed around the lounge and could hurt a child if knocked over; the deck is several metres off the ground and only has strands of restraining wire which a child can easily climb through or fall over; the one bedroom is outside (see room description above) and the toilet facilities are inside the main house which is not ideal for children especially at night. If guests are looking for accommodation when the main room is booked beds can usually still be found especially for guests staying more than one night. It is always worth contacting us to enquire about accommodation even when our main room is booked.
We are located in a natural bush area which is suited to guests that love nature and are looking for a beautiful setting in a peaceful area. The Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas are for people who want a quieter stay away from shops, cinemas and bright lights. We love our friendly and convenient neighbourhood which mixes a semi-rural setting together with convenient access to facilities. We are less than 5 minutes from Sommers Bay Beach and 12 minutes from hotels in Dunalley and Eaglehawk Neck which both serve delicious meals. Our property is situated 1 hour by car from Hobart and 45 minutes from the airport. The closest shopping centre is situated in Sorell which is a 35 minute drive from our house while the nearest fuel and small general supply / take-away store is less than 5 minutes from our house and is open daily during the day. From our property guests have convenient access to the beauty of the Tasman and Forestier Peninsulas. The Three Capes walk, (Cape Hauy, Cape Rauol and Cape Pillar) which is being touted as the best short walk in the world by some of the international travel books is easily accessed from here. If we are able to arrange convenient drop-off / pick-up points we would be willing to help with guests staying staying for more than one day and wishing to do longer walks. We are within convenient reach of Port Arthur with its historical and ghost hunting facilities (30 minutes drive). The Coal Mines are also of historical and birding interest and Lime Bay is another birding and walking area worth visiting. All of these and many other places are a must to see - Devils Kitchen, Tasman Blowhole, Tasman Arch, Waterfall Bay and fairy penguins to mention just a few to wet your appetite - all just a 10 or 15 minute drive away. I have visited and walked around many of these areas and can give more information to guests if they require it.

  • Eileen and Allan have been the best host so far we have met ever since we used Airbnb for all our Aussie trip. Their house was really cosy and the view indeed was spectacular. I will never forget how we 4 sat down and all lights off to enjoy the view together. And even had dinner and breakfast together. Both Jim and I were truly blessed to have know them and how much we felt like we are one family. Thank you !

    Tiffany2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is true airbnb; we were welcomed wholeheartedly into our hosts' home, which is a charming wooden house with wonderful views over water. Eileen and her husband are very interesting to chat with and we were able to utilise any facilities we needed. The double room and ensuite are nice, situated off of the main living room. This is a lovely place to chill out and enjoy the surroundings, suitable for anybody with a car but especially for older couples looking for rustic charm and sociable hosts. Thank you for sharing your home and conversation with us, we really enjoyed our short stay and would recommend your place without hesitation.

Welcome to the House of the Weedy Seadragon! Named after the beautiful seahorses The Tasman Peninsula is famous for. On the sand-dunes our beachfront cottage is an original 1960s shack. The sound of the roaring waves surrounds you in this amazing nook nestled on the sand dunes. It is rustic and wonderful.
Beautifully and lovingly decorated with antiques, keep sakes and treasures we love our shack. It is the perfect spot for a roaring fire and a night in with wine and board games, or a setting to embark on the surfing, trekking and fishing adventures that the Tasman Peninsula has to offer. With 3 bedrooms the house sleeps 6 and it is great for couples, groups, families or for the solo traveller! The kitchen is large and modern and the living room cozy and wonderful with the fire! We have a cupboard full of board games for you. Outside there is a deck to enjoy an evening wine and a huge private lawn with a fire pit to roast marshmallows!
Attention surfers: Located on Pirates Bay this is a great place to stay for a surf trip. Eaglehawk Neck has amazing waves in the right conditions. From peaky and fun beach breaks to left and right hand reef break options. Within 30mins drive are more of Tasmania’s great waves including Boneyards, Remarkable Cave and Roaring Beach. Book the Sea Dragon Shacks today for a surf trip with your mates or family! Eaglehawk Neck is a small town and natural gateway to the many attractions of the Tasman Peninsula, including the Port Arthur Historic Site. The thin strip of land known as the Neck connects the Tasman Peninsula to the Forestier Peninsula. It's about 400 metres long and less than 30 metres wide at one point. This narrow entrance to the Tasman Peninsula was once guarded by the dog line, a line of dogs chained together to prevent convicts from escaping the notorious prison settlement at nearby Port Arthur. Many tried to escape, some succeeded and there's now a sculpture to mark this once brutal barricade. There are shipwreck sites here too, but there's much more to this place than its dark and dangerous past. The Neck is also a natural geological wonder with striking rock formations like the Tessellated Pavement, and nearby Tasman's Arch, Blowhole and Devil's Kitchen. There's also an eco-cruise that takes visitors past massive sea cliffs and the local seals, dolphins and penguins. The area attracts bushwalkers, rock climbers, kayakers, divers and surfers and is a popular summer holiday destination for locals and visitors alike with a range of places to stay. https://www.discovertasmania.com.au/about/regions-of-tasmania/hobart-and-south/eaglehawk-neck

Sunhouse is an unexpected gem on the Tasman Peninsula, located just 15 minutes from Port Arthur. Nestled between the trees and the ocean, a place to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and nature. Meandering days can be spent wandering the coves and beaches, playing cards, drinking cups of tea or simply soaking up the sun with a good book. Come evening, pick produce from the garden and sip a wine in front of the fire. A place to slow down and enjoy what Tasmania really has to offer.
Restored with love and creativity, filled with vintage finds and surrounded by a rambling cottage garden, the space is one that has had many hours of care put into it. A 70’s cottage that has been furnished with the collected and considered, from the handcrafted timber kitchen to the tiniest curated details. Enjoy a soak in the bath or sleep in and appreciate the linen bedding. Although equipped with modern comforts, it is rustic, raw and authentic. The way Tasmania was meant to be enjoyed. Sunhouse has a wood fire, a full kitchen and on site parking. Equally designed for enjoying in solitude or to be shared with love, we have two queen beds and a set of bunks so can accommodate six comfortably. Coffee, tea and basic provisions are provided however there is a small grocer nearby and one of the most amazing coffee spots just down the road.
Sunhouse is located on the edge of the small fishing town, Nubeena, nestled in the coves of the Tasman Peninsula. While supplies are available in town, it is also a beautiful drive around the Peninsula to Port Arthur (15 minutes) and Eaglehawk Neck (20 minutes). Make no mistake, there is no need to travel to find beauty (or surf) - the Peninsula is a treasure trove of hidden beaches, silent forests and untouched beauty.
  • Juliette was very helpful and friendly and her place is a gorgeous cottage with a beautiful interior, deck, and gardens. We loved that it wasn't too far out of Hobart for a family weekend away, exploring the Tasman Peninsula. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Bronagh2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing stay. It is such a cosy place but feels bright and clean, and is really beautifully styled. It was easily accessible but felt so private, and so many beautiful places near by, the little local coffee shop is amazing. We cant wait to come back!

  • Gorgeous place! Lovely location. A lot of thought has gone into the styling of the home. Excellent, quick and super helpful communication. Quiet but central location to explore the Tasman peninsula. Great pizza joint about 50 metres up the road. This was super relaxed and warm place to unwind for a birthday weekend, very thoughtful and generous bottle of wine was left as a birthday gift! Would recommend and absolutely return. Was great to see another part of my little island as a visitor instead of a local! ....and in style!! Thanks Juliette and Todd, you made my birthday extra special!

Dreaming of a cosy, country cabin? Wishing for a wine in an outdoor bath with a view? Arrow Brick House is set in the beautiful hills of Port Arthur on 12 secluded acres where wildlife abounds and the sunrise over the water will take your breath away. Gorgeous, rustic 2 bedroom house with fireplace. Perfect for a romantic retreat or for a little luxury after a long day of adventuring. Inside is warm, well equipped and stylishly presented.
Cute and cosy cabin in the hills featuring: * Well equipped kitchen and gas cooking; * slow combustion fireplace and heater * Indoor bathroom with shower and basin * separate toilet room (it is ‘well ventilated’) * electric blanket on queen bed and lots of hot water bottles and throw rugs to keep you toasty * outdoor bath (note candles are no longer provided as they make a mess and are a fire danger but you can byo if you want to) * good quality sheets and towels (Canningvale and Sheridan) * like the whole Tasman region all water is tank water. It’s clean Tassie rain water but it’s not filtered so you may wish to bring drinking water or boil water for drinking. * lots of room to park your car next to the house. * due to ongoing water/power issues washing machine is no longer available... but there’s an excellent laundromat at port arthur next to the post office... take some washing powder with you... it’s in the blue shipping container.
The Tasman Peninsula has many beautiful sights. The stunning 3 Capes Walk is close by and there are beautiful beaches in the area. Port Arthur historic site is a 5 minute drive away. Make sure you stay long enough to enjoy all the area has to offer! (3 nights is ideal!)
  • My hubby and I stayed at this amazing little house. We love the whole thing. The views when you fist get to the driveway are breathe taking , but they are even better when you are sitting in side with the fire lit and having a local glass of wine.Outside there is a very cozy bath area, which you can bath or shower and just look over at the views in complete privacy and peace and quiet. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, one has a double bed and the other 2 singles. You could bring the kids, but it's perfect for a romantic get away. There is no TV so you just sit back and relax. The owner has set up the cottage perfect, it's so very homely, with all the perfect touches, i.e throw rugs on the couch, candles, there's books to read, you could stay for weeks. This cottage is so very clean and I'm a clean freak and I (Email hidden by Airbnb) night be careful driving around as there are a lot of wild life, they do run and dart every where.I can't stop talking about this spot and we will be back.Highly recommend you stay.

    David2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a lovely stay at Jacqui's AirBnB. The space was clean, and nice and warm at night. There is a beautiful view especially during sunrise from out the front of the home. The only issue we had was that the water ran out on the first night. We were a bit worried as the next day was a public holiday but we had the water refilled before midday the next day so it wasn't a huge deal. Just when staying perhaps pop up the back to check the water level on the tank in case you need to get in contact with the host. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends.

    Lily2018-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing spot! Beautiful set up, all ready to go when we arrived including the fire place! The outdoor bath is a fantastic feature, even when it feels like it is about to start snowing outside

    Andrew2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night at Jacqui’s place and wish we could have stayed longer. Having the fire going upon arrival was a nice touch on a cold day and everything in the house was perfect for our getaway.

    Evan2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Arrow Brick House is wonderful place to stay. This place has everything; views, wildlife and hygge. We plan to return!

    Christina2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic! We couldn't have asked for a better stay at Port Arthur! The home was clean and decorated so well. The fire was stacked for us and ready to go and everything was thought of to enable an awesome stay. Even the cupboard was stocked with well thought of essentials with an honesty jar if you were stuck with no food . Such a great idea! Jacqui has thought of everything, even down to the snow that we woke up to in the morning! :) We highly recommend this gorgeous place for any Port Arthur visitor and only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • I can't say enough good things about Cheryl's place. The room; a lovely, clean, cosy and comfortable space with an ensuite stocked with everything you might have forgotten. Cheryl; she made us cakes, shucked oysters when I said I hadn't had any, left us an outstanding breakfast spread and made us feel like we were visiting friends. Nan (Cheryl's mum who was visiting) is a fun added extra. The wombats; this is a once in a lifetime experience! Rocking a baby wombat to sleep in your arms or having them gallop around your feet in the house is pretty amazing. Cheryl rescues baby wombats and looks after them for two years before sending them off into the wild. The location; the house is down on the bottom of the Tasman peninsula and walking down along the front of storm bay makes you feel like you're on the edge of the world. Highly recommend staying here. It was the most hospitable, warm and friendly place I've ever stayed. Thanks Cheryl.

    Rebecca2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique experience! Cheryl was so lovely and the little wombats were very special. I would recommend this stay to any animal lover.

    Cara2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was very hospitable and looked after us. Wombats were friendly and cute. Cheryl was very friendly and sociable but also understood the importance of guest privacy. Would be happy to stay again.

    Mark2018-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A Unique Experience! Cheryl's place is akin to a farm and you become one of the family, but be careful not to step on the bouncy puppy! The bedroom suite is spotless, the breakfast copious to set you up for the day. And she and her partner are welcoming hosts. Staying at Wombat Haven is a very different type of experience. Great.

    Jonathan2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The greatest Airbnb I have ever stayed in, the wombats are way way way too cute to handle :) I highly recommend this place to all animal lovers (especially wombat lovers). I enjoyed my stay alot and would definitely return again if I am back in Tasmania!

    Aaralyn2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, what Cheryl does for these animals is amazing. Clearly, she is a very kind-hearted, thoughtful person. The description was absolutely correct, there are several wombats roaming around, which was fantastic to see, and she also let me hold one! The room itself is quite full and not overly spacious but is clean, has its own bathroom (with lots of consumables for use of guests) and the bed was comfy. We enjoyed meeting Cheryl and her mum (+ wombats and dog). Note that breakfast is included so make sure you leave yourself enough time (we didn't, unfortunately, but we very much appreciated the muffins that Cheryl gave us to take away - tasty!).

    Tom2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was a fantastic host, her place was exactly as described and the wombats were gorgeous! It was amazing being able to feed, play with and cuddle them! Would definitely recommend for animal lovers. Thanks for a great stay Cheryl! :)

    Emma2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get to meet and experience wombats. Apart from the bedroom and bathroom, you will be sharing some amenities. However, Cheryl is very obliging and generous. If you are quite tall, you might find the bed a bit short. My boyfriend is tall and found this to be a slight issue. Otherwise this is a great place to stay to experience Port Arthur, White Beach, and wombats.

  • Just like Primrose Sands, this cute lovely cottage is like a hidden treasure in Greater Hobart. Darryl is absolutely a great host one wishes to meet in a journey. He is kind, generous and definitely knows how to make his guests comfortable. The cottage itself is the same as the description, clean, cozy and has everything you need. The town is beautiful and quiet. The corner shop is only 2-minute ride away. We spent two wonderful nights with Darryl and his brother sharing wine and having good chats. Even Tyson the little cute thing knows how to host! And his wiggles was adorable. I highly recommend this holiday cottage.

  • Ann took excellent care of us including returning an item we had left behind. The place was perfect for our stay. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen with breakfast items and a great deck to sit and enjoy the view. There is so much to do in Port Arthur we should have booked more than two nights.

  • Lovely cottage in a great location so close to Port Arthur site, Eaglehawk Neck and Stewarts Bay. Comfy beds, great kitchen and bathroom. Didn't meet Ann and Marc personally but she went out of her way to chat before our arrival and to ensure we had all the information we needed for a great stay. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

  • Wow. The photos do not do this place justice at all. Best place we stayed in Tassie, gorgeous house and setting, we all wanted to stay longer, lovely personal touches and great hosts, cannot recommend highly enough, if you have any indecision about staying somewhere, definitely pick this one!

  • This is a lovely home with everything you might want to enjoy a self-catered holiday. The tranquil setting was the perfect place for us to base our Tasman peninsula vacation. We enjoyed listening and watching for wildlife every evening and morning. The home could not be more comfortable. We had everything we needed and more. The home is stylish, clean, and modern with great wifi and wii for kids. The bedrooms and baths were very comfortable with everything you might need. The setting is with tranquility and solitude. Be sure to do all of your shopping in Sorrell as Scott suggests. Once on the peninsula, we did not wish to venture back to Hobart. We chose to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and we enjoyed all of the many walks and sites near Saltwater and Port Arthur. If you wish to embrace the true beauty of the Tasman peninsula, this is the place for you. I only hope I can come back someday.

  • Beautiful location and setting. The cottage is cosy, yet spacious, has lots of character and is something different from the usual house or apartment. Was in the perfect location to see the sights around Eaglehawk Neck, Port Arthur & the Peninsula but was also great to just stay in the cottage and relax. Lots of amazing food options in the area also, including the cafe on site. Kaarina was a great host & easy to communicate with

  • Beautiful scenery and only a short drive from Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck.

We have 1 km of shoreline, on our northern boundary, ending in a secluded little bay at the western end, where mussels, cockles and oysters are available for gathering. Our block touches the coast at the other two corners. Plenty of exploring space! We can accommodate two adults, plus a child on a foldout futon or cot in the room with parents.
We live in a glorious spot, overlooking King George Sound and Island. We are secluded but within easy reach of Hobart - about an hours drive. We are also about 35 mins drive from Port Arthur Historic Site. Nearby is the wonderful Tasman Peninsula with its beautiful coastal scenery and bush walks. The east coast is just a couple of hours drive away, via the Wielangta Forest Drive. Paradise!
  • Very much enjoyed my stay at Jennifer's house. Very interesting couple; would loved to have stayed longer to talk more with them. Enjoyed the tranquility of the location and would loved to have explored around the property/locality if had more time. Does require own transport but not far from the sights of the Tasman Peninsula. All facilities as described; very comfortable.

  • Beautiful house. Fantastic location. Comfortable bed. Nutritious breakfast. But what makes this place special are the hosts. Jen and George are wonderful people with rich life experiences. Wish we had spent more time chatting with them.

    Faiq2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and George were perfect hosts, their house were beautiful and clean, In the night, there were elegant music in there’s living room, they were reading quietly and the picture was very warm. They were very warm and thoughtful. I was so busy on the check in day,I did not have dinner, Jennifer gave me vegetables let me cook dinner for myself. They even got up so early to prepare breakfast for me,because I had to catch morning flight.I ate their bread. Unfortunately, I only stayed here for one night.Hope I can come back again.

    Ivy2018-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • George and Jen are fellow world travelers, avid Airbnb users and great hosts! It’s a pleasure to spend some time with them in the evening! The suite is clean and comfortable, and we felt free to use the kitchen. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. There home is in a rather remote area on 200 acres along the water with a great view. Birds of all kinds abound in the back yard and in the morning, you will see some wallabies hopping about in the front yard. Be quiet, they scare easily. Aside for Port Arthur, there are some great natural sights in the area, many walks and some superb beaches. We can highly recommend staying for two nights but three nights is great for seeing and doing.

    Steve2018-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay with Jen and George! We love their hospitality and they made our stay very comfortable, just like meeting old friends. Highly recommended if you want a place to stay before or after Port Arthur or Tasman peninsula trip. Be ready to be spoiled for breakfast choices in the morning :)

    Celene2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer and George really are super hosts and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. They certainly have a colorful travel history and are full of good stories. The house is truly in a beautifully isolated location with amazing views. We even saw a wallaby eating breakfast right next to our bedroom window. The breakfast was also incredible. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Lisa2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Off the beaten track, surrounded by stunning views and welcomed with warm and generous hospitality. Wonderful breakfast, homemade produce, interesting conversations and the best coffee! We loved our stay with Jennifer and George. We felt right at home and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

  • Staying at Skye & Roger's studio was the highlight of our Tassie road trip. Skye was so kind and friendly when we arrived. The studio is brand new, super stylish, cosy and clean and has one of the best views of the bay! Excellent value for money, I couldn't recommend it more highly.

    Vanessa2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. The view from the room is complemented with such warmth from the hosts. Skye is a chef and cooks the best Fish and Chips using local fresh fish caught on the day. With apple pie to finish......... totally amazing. The ambiance of the locality is like stepping back in time. The accommodation is along the shore line of a secluded beach. The facilities are great, heated floor in the bath room and Netflix on the T.V. So you don't need to leave all the creature comforts at home. Will visit again.

The house makes the most of its location with floor to ceiling glass that brings the view right into the living areas. A wonderful place to stay whether you want to spend hours at the beach or just lounge around enjoying one of the best coastlines in Australia. Fantastic!

  • The house was clean, modern, comfortable, and had spectacular views form very aspect of the open plan living area. As a party of four we enjoyed spending time on the balcony, cooking dinners on the BBQ and eating together at the dining table with panoramic views. The house was a short walk to a white sandy beach and short drives to a number of national parks with great walking trails. There are few shops locally, so bring supplies!

  • Brendan is a great host with good communication throughout our stay, ocean view is a great place to spend time and relax, but we also went diving with Eaglehawk neck dive centre nearby and cycling down to Port Arthur. • Bluegum Hostel was easy to find. Like the fact it was in a quiet setting. Marion and Phil were really nice and informative. Bed was comfortable and water pressure for the hot shower was great. Thanks Marion and Phil. Would not hesitate to return.

    Symphy2015-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Bluegum was magical, it's in a lovely location that is peaceful and quiet and was equipped with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Marion was so hospitable and generous with her information about the area and things to do. She suggested that we go down to a local beach to watch the Fairy Penguins coming ashore at dusk and we sat under a breathtaking sky saturated with stars, and so pleased to see some of these gorgeous little penguins. We were also lucky enough to see the Aurora Australis which Marion took photos of and very kindly emailed on to us. We take with us some lovely memories and will definitely be back should the opportunity arise. Thanks Marion!

    Alison2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic experience!! We stayed at Marion's on the first night of our holiday, and couldn't be happier. The location was beautiful, and we were able to sit and have breakfast while enjoying Marion's tree filled backyard, framed by some mountains. Marion was the perfect hostest, completely flexible given our arrival time changes a few times, and upon arrival she gave us a great rundown of what to see and do in the area. We took her up on many of her suggestions, and as a result Eaglehawke Neck was one of our favourite spots on the trip. We stayed in the double room and it was lovely, and the bathroom was modern and very clean. We will definitely stay with Marion again if we return to the area.

    Rebecca2016-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • As already said, everything great in marion's house.

    Lucie2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really nice and clean. We had a really great stay, whished we had spent more nights.

    Elyssa2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Marion's place is beautiful. We had a great night looking at the Milky Way just outside of her house. Alternatively, you can drive 5 minutes to the Pirates Bay lookout to have a better view. The house was packed with everything you need for a good stay. Perhaps the only problems were the wifi which doesn't work at all, and the hot water which tends to 'run out'. Other than that, we had a superb stay!

    Aaron2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location. Sounds of nature outside drifted into the house. Very soothing and special. Marion and her partner were really well set up and even at the late hour when we arrived were full of advice and care. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves too! Would recommend to friends.

Ocean and beach views positioned in a stunningly safe, clean and natural environment, (3 min walk to beach) I spend so much time here, going on gorgeous natural scenic hikes, swimming and snorkelling, watching whales, dolphin, seals & albatross. And just 14 min drive to Port Arthur. Circa 1890. Charming, rustic, authentic, warm and clean, full of character and stories. You won't want to leave. See the Southern Aurora lights if you are lucky, and photograph her from the Tessellated Pavement.
Generous space for 5 people. Antique windows gaze out to beautiful ocean and beach views. Colonial baltic pine lined walls and polished Tasmanian oak floor boards, all across the road from the coastal reserve and the most beautiful beach. 5 mins walk and you are in the surf or at the picnic tables overlooking the ocean, looking for whales, dolphins, albatross and the surf. (Which you can also check out from the sitting room). Kick back after a big day at Port Arthur or on the water or hiking by watching a movie on the free fast WIFI, or just cook up storm in the well equipped kitchen to match the beautiful wines available in the region and indulge. Go to sleep in crisp white linens, washed and line dried by us, keeping your travelling as eco as possible. The house is beautifully warm with all day sun, and a heat pump to flick on to keep you toasty if it gets a bit cool, and electric blankets to keep you snuggly warm.
Pirates Bay Beaches, both sheltered and surf (2 min walk away) Tasman Island Cruises (20 mins drive to HQ,) 2 min drive (0r 40 min amble along the beach) to ‘Doolishus’ award winning fish and chips, berries and ice cream and fresh oysters! 2 min drive to Cubed Coffee, the best coffee in Tasmania I think, and world class coastal views. Dog Line (Historic Site) 10 min walk. Lufra Hotel, great meals, beers and wines etc (20 min walk along the beach, or a 2 min drive). Fantastic hiking to some of the most beautiful scenery, temperate rainforest, amazing costal and cliff top views imaginable. Pennicott Wilderness Cruises take off near by, and other assorted charter operations leave from the bay. The Tessellated Pavement is a 15 min walk away. Great place to photograph the Southern Aurora, if the lady is about. Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen, The Blowhole, 40 mins walk along beach or 3 min drive. Wood Fired Pizza, 15 min walk along beach (or road) at Havenabite takeaway. Port Arthur Historic Site (20 mins drive away.) 20 mins Drive to multi award winning Port Arthur Historic Site, and a fabulous restaurant. Best kept secret ever! So many beautiful walks close by and much much more !
  • Really relaxing and comfortable place. Very well equipped kitchen if you wish to cook (but need to bring groceries); Lufra hotel restaurant served the best steak ever though! Hosts were great with quick and helpful responses.

  • Jill is a lovely host and her place is great! The place is clean, tidy, quiet and has an amazing view. It is located in a walking distance to the beach. Some of the local attractions (e.g Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen) are also in short drives away. She gave me some useful tips on getting groceries, nearby restaurant and petrol station before my arrival. Communication and checkin/out arrangements were great. Highly recommend!

    Vicky2017-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Raoul is a very stylish, yet homely place, and so much bigger than I had expected! Very good value for money and clean. There is plenty of room in the bedrooms, so you won't be tripping over your suitcases. We really enjoyed the home, which is very convenient to all Eaglehawk Neck & Peninsula sights but is peaceful and quiet. Communication with Jill was excellent - she offers guests a wealth of information on the area and had great food & coffee suggestions (we loved Cubed Coffee and Doo-lishus!). She also checked in to make sure we were ok, which was nice. We loved the area and the home and wouldn't hesitate to recommend you book your holiday here!

Feel as though you've come to stay with old friends who just happen to have amazing water views and wonderful pets. With dinner & breakfast included, all you need to do is bring your own alcohol (or get some from us if you want to) then sit back, relax and enjoy!
Hi! We are a semi-retired professional couple who made a lifestyle choice to relocate from Melbourne to Tasmania so that we could live in a beach house with absolute water frontage. We have 160 degree views overlooking Fredrick Henry Bay, which is an approximately 45 minute drive from the capital of Hobart and half way to the famous convict ruins of Port Arthur. The house is a modernised but old shack, with 2 bedrooms, study, one bathroom, separate toilet and open plan living, dining and kitchen areas. As such, it will never look as perfect as a newer or modern home. But we also have 2 decks to make the most of outside living and the views! We share the house with a Bengal cat, Oscar, and our German Shepherd, Hugo. As the animals are inside whenever they choose to be, our home is not for you if you have any allergies or are not an animal lover. If you’ve never interacted with domestic animals but would like to, ours are so used to guests they’re great to practise on! A continental breakfast is provided and you are welcome to join us for a family dinner as Primrose Sands is a beach community with few services. Feel free to bring your own alcohol, but if you don’t, we’ll have some Australian wine available. We’re also happy to put a load of washing through for you so that you’re not wasting valuable travelling time in a laundromat ( is there anything more boring?!) at a very reasonable additional cost. We have a dryer, too, in case your clothes haven’t got the time to air dry. An iron and ironing board are also available should you require them. Relax and re-energise in the peace and natural beauty of Primrose Sands, perhaps taking a walk along the mile long empty beach, sitting in front of a fire on our deck or fishing from our rocks. There are lots of books to read and both Foxtel and Netflix to keep up with world news or those all important sports results or TV shows! Then look at the stars in a perfectly clear sky at night before sleeping in near perfect quiet...if you're lucky and have the right camera gear, you might even see the Southern Aurora. Please feel free to treat our house as your own while you're here. Feet on the furniture are just fine as are dressing gowns! Above all, we just want you to be comfortable! We will be here during your stay and will spend as much or as little time interacting with you as you like. However, be warned, Hugo will try to get you to play with him and Oscar will demand pats! Primrose is a holiday beach community primarily for Hobart people who have 'shacks' here because they couldn’t possibly drive the 45 minutes or so between Hobart and Primrose twice in one day! Unbelievable, isn’t it? However, more and more people are choosing to live here permanently from interstate and overseas so gradually these shacks are being upgraded and new homes built. Unfortunately, Tasmania has very little public transport as the state can’t afford the infrastructure for the relatively few people (around 500,000) living on quite a large island. So, no trams, no passenger trains and relatively few buses. Basically, you can’t get here without your own car or hire vehicle as taxi costs to Primrose are prohibitive and there simply are no other regular forms of public transport. Before booking, bear in mind that: 1. Only Telstra has mobile coverage in Primrose Sands. 2. Parking is on the street but is quite safe. 3. You must have your own transport. 4. You need to be an animal lover and welcome animals interacting with you. 5. There are two steps up to the porch and front door but we have hand rails. A walker could be used around our house and top balcony so you’ll cope here with limited mobility.
Only a thousand people like in Primrose, and most of them are retirees. In summer, the population jumps to around three thousand. Many Tasmanians have beach shacks which are handed down through the family but used rarely. It's a very safe neighbourhood where few of us lock our homes or cars! Cars are safe parked almost anywhere and people walk down the middle of the road!
  • We had a really really great time at this place. The host couple was super nice and gave us a kind of home feeling. The house was very clean (even with dogs and cats) and warm, just cozy. The chicken in the garden provided fresh eggs for breakfast and we pet them as well. The view from the terrace at the morning was amazing. The dinner and breakfast was very delicious. Any time again.

  • Judith is very nice. She sent me a message to see if I need any help in a few days before I go to stay in her house. I really enjoy the good view, their natural food, chit chat & play with their dog and cats. Too bad that I can stay for 1 night only. I absolutely will stay with them when I come to Tassie again. Thanks Judith.

    Celia2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really enjoyable 4 night stay in Primrose Sands. Judith, Alan, 3 cats and especially Hugo the dog are very friendly and hospitible hosts. Excellent home cooked food and plenty of it :-), a view to die for, and a great place just to chill out and relax taking in the view or throw sticks for a very energetic German shepherd. Primrose Sands is a quiet, beautiful location and I would recommend it as an ideal place to stop off on the way to and from Port Arthur. I am planning to build a home there so will hopefully be back in the near future. The Clifftop B & B is a great place to stay

  • Judith will go to a lot of trouble to ensure that your stay is personable and friendly. There is nothing overstated in any of the reviews which I can see from my own experience, are written by people who have enjoyed the true hospitality and comfort of this site.

  • We were welcomed greatly when we arrived to a wonderful house on the coast. Throughout our stay the food provided was great as well as some information about local activities. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay overall. In what was portrayed as conversation about world issues, differences between cultures, etc., our country was lambasted. Including the character of our citizens, education, or anything else that seemed to pop up. Maybe this is just normal conversation to the hosts, but it always seemed like a one-way conversation. We have traveled around the world and are happy to discuss our country's state of affairs, but our experience was not characteristic of a discussion, but insults. We are a young couple (24 and 25), so that could have played a role in the tone of conversation since we may have been seen as naive and impressionable. We stayed with another airbnb host before our trip to Tasmania and had a wonderful experience while discussing world issues. In reading the previous reviews it appears our experience was not normal. As mentioned before maybe it was because we are young. I know a part of it had to do with us being American. To sum up, if you're American I would think twice about staying here. If you're young and American, pass on this one and look elsewhere.

  • Staying at Judith's place is definitely one of the highlights and best part in our Tassie trip. There are just no words for her, she is beyond cool!!! We spent an entire evening talking about different things while enjoying the delicious meal she prepared for us, she's such a delightful person to talk to! We absolutley adore her! As for the house, the view is just breath-taking. The location of the house makes it a perfect base for visiting both Port Arthur and Horbort. The only regreat we have is we only got to spend one night at her place. On retrospect, I wish I could have spent more time at her place to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of Tasmania. I highly recommend staying at Judith's house. I'm sure you will have an amazing time just like me.

  • We arrived at about half past seven in the evening. Judith and Allan prepared a good dinner and waited out for us to eat with us (they prepared breakfast for us too!) . They've also shared alot of information about Tasmania, tips for our tips, their adventures around the world and many more! The house sits right at the waterfront and serene and quiet at night. The room and bathroom are clean and nicely decorated with fresh flowers. Overall it was a nice and warm stay at Judith's!

The rooms are the lower part of a 2 storey house, and include a bedroom, large bathroom, lounge area with cable TV. This lounge does have a fold down sofa which could be used as a bed for up to 2 children.Extra cost would be $10.00 per child. The property is located in Primrose Sands, a beach suburb 20 minutes from Sorell, which is on the route to the popular tourist spot of Port Arthur. Primrose Sands is 45 minutes from Hobart City and 30 minutes from Hobart Airport.
This property is fairly unique in that it has direct access to a beautiful beach. Amazing views compliment the white sand and blue water where you can walk, relax, read a book or whatever!.
Primrose Sands is a beach area that was established some years ago as a weekend type beach retreat. It is evolving slowly into a suburb where residents can have the best of both worlds,ie. a beach area not too far from the city. There is a gradual move to more expensive homes as people discover the lifestyle they can enjoy here.
  • Very grateful to the consideration of the hostess.

  • A cozy home away from home. Perfect beach walks and relaxed vibe. Thank you Liz and Jeff. You made us feel very welcome.

  • Jeff and Liz have a gem of a place, situated literally on the beach, and a magnificent beach at that. Tranquil and peaceful. Conveniently located on the way to Port Arthur. The place is clean, spacious and family friendly. A great value, highly recommended.

  • A superb spacious beach-front home with a private access to one of the most scenic beaches in Tasmania. For travellers with a car, the location is ideal for exploring Hobart, the East Coast and the Tasman Peninsula, and is close to Hobart Airport. Jeff and Liz are excellent hosts who went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable.

  • We loved our stay at Jeff's place. After a long, hilly ride from Port Arthur, we appreciated the warm welcome and comfortable set up. We really enjoyed the breakfast provisions especially the home made jams.

  • Jeff and Liz are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Check in was easy and we were greeted by Jeff and sweet little Sophie dog. The fridge was full of homemade muffins and jam (which were delicious, thank you!), fresh bread, yoghurt, water, milk etc. and Liz had even put out some toys for my 7 month old to play with! The space was cosy, clean and quiet- during the day it is filled with sunshine and lovely and warm on cool days. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beautiful beach is literally just a few steps over a small sand dune! Jeff and Liz are very attentive hosts and it was a lovely stay. Thanks for having us!
