  • What a great stay. Taking the ferry to the island and staying in a cabin with wooden fireplace heat was the perfect cozy getaway from the city!

  • Me and a a few friends decided to stay here for christmas. We had a great time! Spaces are clean with ample amenities. Host was very responsive during our stay and eager to help with any issues. Overall a great place to stay!

  • We came in December and really enjoyed our weekend here! The place was clearly prepared for us with a radio playing nice music and the heat turned up in all bedrooms. All of our questions were addressed in written instructions on site. Everything was clean. the number of pots and dishes was more than enough for our group of 7 adults. The movie collection was a nice surprise! Water from the tap was always good pressure and hot (in case anyone is concerned). The fireplace was easy to manage. Walking outside was magical. It is so quiet!!! Overall it was a great experience. I hope to be back soon!

  • Jake and Chantal have a great place at a very beautiful island. I faced a problem with the living room heater and as it was cold we had to face some issues.

  • Lovely space! Easy check in, beautiful rock beach nearby. Quiet and serene. Easy communication with host and clear directions. :)

    Nicole2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great place! The house is spacious and well equipped. The beach is two minutes away from the lake, water shoes recommend! A just beautiful shore! We had a workshop with Jake, made dreamcatchers, discovered more about the medicine of nature, played drums and learned the strong women song. A unique experience which gives you a glance into a different culture and history of Canada. Great for the whole family. We were prepared for mosquito invasions but nearly had none (guess End of August is a good time:0). We had an extraordinary time, explored the island, saw see eagles, bats, many frogs and butterflies and beautiful Stars at night. A place to calm down and find yourself.

  • What a great place to spend the last long weekend of the summer (Aug 31 - Sept 2, 2019). The place was just as advertised, much bigger than anticipated, and a complete WIN. The living room was cozy and we were able to watch some movies on a rain day via their DVD player. Although the BBQ was smaller than we were used to, we cooked 99% of our food on it and it worked without a hitch! The sleeping areas were surprisingly comfortable and all 4 of us were able to take satisfying showers. As for the property, breathtaking. The dock gave the most beautiful views, especially during the sunrises. The fire pit/chairs made for great evening conversations and s'mores over the fire. The location of the space was also far enough to feel "away" but close enough to grocery stores/gas stations/civilization that it was a max 10-15 minute drive if you absolutely needed anything. The host was VERY responsive and accommodating to any/all questions and responded quite quickly. Such a nice person! My 3 friends and I will definitely be returning to this hidden gem in the near future!

    Anastasia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner had a real nice stay at this cottage. Unfortunately we had one day of bad weather, but the cottage space itself is lovely for sitting in during those days. One thing to note is that there is a DVD player which I don’t think is in the listing, so if you’re thinking of going to the cottage then do take a couple movies for those rainy days (there is a selection of movies on site however!). It is not possible to swim in the lake directly from the dock, however the boat provided does provide the ability to get out to deeper water and take a swim! The fire pit and outside space is fantastic, with relative privacy from the neighbouring cottages. The host was quick to respond to our queries before our arrival and was friendly at all times.

  • Gorgeous home in a very pretty location. The most helpful and accommodating hostess. Definitely would come back.

  • This beautiful space is cozy yet spacious with lovely little touches that make you feel like home! I am 5 months pregnant and I slept so well. My 14 month old did too! My husband loved the outdoor space. Locals are so friendly, too! We will definitely be back and we highly recommend!

    Christine And Matt2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place - spotlessly clean, really spacious, great location, easy to find, everything we could need including a fully stocked kitchen! We were 4 adults and a toddler and it was more than enough room for all of us. A very short drive to the lake and also great recommendations for places to visit and where to eat nearby. We will hopefully be back! Lindsey was also really quick with communication and it was easy to check in.

    Sarah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and a especially nice kitchen. Close walk to the water and really easy check in. Would highly reccomend.

    Jacob2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time at the cottage. Lots of space to play in the backyard and lots to do in the area. House was clean and stocked with supplies. Comfy beds and the activity basket was a nice touch. My family and I had a fun fishing, playing at the park and enjoying a nice campfire. We will definitely be back.

    Ashley2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a perfect little get away in a quiet, very low traffic neighbourhood. Backyard was very private and nicely shaded. The house was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. There was a basket of games and art stuff there, which was so nice. One thing to be aware of is the cottage has softened water, so bring some water with you if you're not used to the taste. Lots of places to sit and hang out inside and out - the sun room is really cozy, and so is the livingroom. Perfect for 1 or 2 couples.

    Laur2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Lindsey's! The cottage was clean, spacious and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches and an awesome, fully stocked kitchen that made preparing and cooking meals for our picky toddler such a breeze. We were also pleasantly surprised by the watermelon that Lindsey thoughtfully left for us to enjoy! We loved the proximity to the waterfront and playgrounds -- great if you've got little ones. Our daughter especially enjoyed wading in the water at the little beach (about a 5 minute walk from the cottage) and swinging on the long tree swing overlooking the lake. The cottage is also a short drive to Sibbald Point, which has a larger beach. Lindsey was very hospitable and quick to respond to all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

  • Cute spot for a couples getaway weekend Close to local trails and the waterfront, and the private hot tub is the perfect way to cap off a day

    Ryan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very cute and Tatiana was very quick to respond with any questions. We had a nice hot tub in the morning and went to go tubing at the nearby ROC. Perfect place for a girls night.

    Crystal2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time here at Tatiana’s place! It was quiet, very private and very clean. It’s a great little spot if you just need some downtime. The internet worked great, there was lots of options on the TV, and there were your basic amenities. We enjoyed all the extra blankets and towels. The fireplace was perfect as it added a little extra warmth. Unfortunately we didn’t get to use the hot tub as we didn’t know we needed to communicate with Tatiana first about setting the hot tub to a hotter temperature before arriving. Thus, it was only at 27’C when we arrived (at 7pm) and was no where near ready at 10pm when we wanted to go in. I would definitely stay here again, we hope to be back in the summer to enjoy the beaches that are near by.

    Katt2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much! It was a cozy and clean space, and loved the view. We didn’t get opportunity to use hot tub but that was a nice plus. The bathroom is small so a bit hard to manoeuvre around but otherwise the space was exactly what we needed!

    Lenore2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cozy place for a couple if you're looking to spend a night in Georgina. The hot tub is nice if you want to unwind and relax.

    Umar2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space for a little getaway. The hot tub works great and the privacy enclosure ensures it can be enjoyed no matter the weather. Tatiana was also very quick to make sure our stay was as relaxing and enjoyable.

The Shortiss Boutique Hotel offers four private and unique suites in an upbeat and newly renovated historical property located in the charming, quaint, old town of Beaverton, Ontario and a short walk to Lake Simcoe. All rooms are decorated with original art by local artists and some custom, eclectic, vintage, and antique furniture pieces. For guests’ convenience and comfort, all private rooms have their own bathroom with a personal hygiene kit and plush towels.
This room offers two rooms. The first is the sitting room with a comfy couch and coffee table (perfect for reading books at), and a small writing desk and chair. The second is the large, brightly lit bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a small dresser. The private bathroom is equipped with a luxurious soaker tub with a hand-held shower and rain head fixture. Our aim is to offer our guests the homely attention to detail of a Bed and Breakfast with the luxury, comfort, and flexibility of a top-notch hotel. By virtue of our small number of rooms, we can provide exceptional hospitality and a truly bespoke experience encompassing a wide range of guests' needs. The Shortiss, is a place where one should desire to lay down their luggage! Far from the hotel stereotypes, a true-life place where each room was imagined differently, so the traveler can constantly renew his/her experience. Treating yourself to a guest room, feeling at home, unwinding in a relaxing ambiance or taking advantage of all the many activities in the area, the Shortiss offers it all. Originally built as 'the Shortiss Hotel' in the mid 1800's, it was picked up off its foundation closer to the lake and moved to its current location in the late 1880's. You can still see the quirkiness in the building's slightly skewed front entrance. It has had an extensive history, since then, being turned into a plethora of businesses and residential apartments. But shortly after purchasing it, once we found out the building was originally a hotel when it was first built, we knew we had to return it to its intended purpose. Today, the building has been completely renovated and decorated with our personal taste and passion and with an uncompromising focus on the details and with an eclectic mix of contemporary, vintage, and antique décor items scattered throughout all the spaces. As one of the oldest buildings on the street, the Shortiss has been designed as a country house, a second home, if you will. It's a place to feel great, a place you won't want to leave, a place where you can't wait to come back to. It’s an intimate house, full of emotions, with a soul, and a story.
The Shortiss is located in the charming town of Beaverton, Ontario, on its historical main downtown Simcoe Street. Conveniently situated among boutique shops and cafes and only a short walk to the shores of Lake Simcoe. In summer relax on the beach with a good book, soak up the sun and take a dip in the water. You will love the location as we are just a short walk to local public beaches. Beachgoers have been spotted wind surfing or kite boarding here on windy days. Rent a boat or sea-doo, or bring your own and use the local launch, and enjoy a day on the water! In the winter, the lake does not disappoint. It’s world renowned for the ice fishing and gorgeous views of ice fishing huts sprinkled across the lake. There are many ice fishing excursions that are based right here in the town of Beaverton. The locals are more than happy to offer you the full experience. No matter the season you can always enjoy the most gorgeous sunsets here!
  • This was my second time staying at Sandra&Alex’s and it was just as great as the first time! I will stay again.

    Chris2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for the weekend while ice fishing on saturday. It was perfect for us as it was close. The place was reasonably priced, super clean, cozy and nice little touches. Will return next year for sure!

  • great location just steps away from a beach + lake. Place is a semibasement though so a bit dark.

    Amine2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little place for a quick stay near Lake Simcoe. Malcolm is a great host that is very open about any shortcomings in the rental, which were very few and no big deal for us. I stayed with my two young sons and the accommodations were good for us. It is one large room (studio) with a bed and a loveseat pullout bed. I feel like the description and pictures don’t reflect that but either way, for a party of three it was perfect. Very close to town and very close to ice fishing access. We would definitely stay there again and plan on exploring more of Malcolms properties for our next stay.

    Gerald2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Malcolm's boathouse was very clean (important to me), had just about everything you could possibly need, TV Netflix was easy to figure out, plenty of lighting, comfy bed, and very close to the water and pier. Malcolm also is very available, just a call away, if you have any questions.

    Barbara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing. Place and location couldn't ask for more. Description was very accurate Would stay again

    Keith2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, cozy place. Excellent location and beautiful views. Malcolm was very accommodating when we had a last minute change of plans which was great. The suite had everything we needed and more. I would definitely recommend and will book next time I'm in town.

    Benjamin2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy little place in a great location. I would like to return in the summer season, but if you are looking for a quiet getaway during the winter months this is a great spot! Malcolm was a great host and very accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay again.

Secluded lake front cottage on Georgina Island. Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing.
Summer is great for families and fishing trips.
Very quiet and private location. Noise bylaw in place (quiet at 11pm)-police will come by.
  • We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was absolutely fantastic. Perfect location. Very private, although it was close with a camp ground, but we couldn’t recognize it. Gorgeous. It was sparkling clean. Perfect size for our family. Definitely will come back again. We had an issue with the door lock, that could be because of me, Chris came quickly to get us in and solved the issue. Amazing experience for our family.

  • My Fiance, Dog and I had a wonderful stay. There are lots of activities to do such as kayaking, biking, boccie ball, lawn darts and plenty of board games. Carolynne is very quick to respond to any inquiries, I definitely recommend this listing as a must visit!

    Peter2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could be back there now! A true diamond in the rough! My family and I truly had the relaxed week away that we needed, having small children I wasn’t sure how things would go, we all had such a nice summer holiday I cant wait to book again next summer!

    Sabrina2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second summer at Carolynne's place and it was just as fantastic this year as it was last year. A great fit for a family - quiet, huge shady yard and warm, shallow water. Carolynne is a great host!

    Christine2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and niece visiting from France, my partner and I had a blast here. It is a cozy house with everything functional, very spacious for 4, a big garden with many tables and chairs, so we could have every meal in a different spot each time ;). Lots of mosquitoes, but they don't get into the house at all. Privacy was great, and Carolynne was very quick to respond always, including the first night after 9 PM when we could not figure out how to connect the DVD player. They offered to come and fix in the morning which was very appreciated, and not necessary eventually. All we needed to cook was included, as well as bathroom products, lots of indoors and outdoors games, dvd's, multiple canoes kayaks and life jackets, firewood. Beds are okay comfy, no beddings but pillows provided. We almost ran out of drinking water but they have a lot to use, just in case. They have bikes that work well but that we didn't have time to use. Nothing was open on the island, not even the ice cream store, so just make sure you bring everything. Given price, location and owner's reliability and availability, highly recommended.

  • Nice cozy cottage! The space was very clean and had everything we needed. Having the screened in porch was great to sit outside and be protected from mosquitoes. The water was clean and warm, it’s shallow off the dock so we couldn’t jump in but you can wade in with water shoes. Even though it’s close to the camp it was pretty quiet and we didn’t hear anything at night. Overall it’s a great place to stay!

  • A positive experience from beginning to end. Carolynne was quick to respond to enquiries, and communication with her was easy. We were delighted to find that the cottage and property were exactly as advertised: well-maintained, clean, and cosy. We would be happy to visit again. One of our nicest times away.

  • Perfect for a weekend getaway from Toronto - it was an hour and a half door to door, ferry ride included. Very private property off from the main road with private water access and a dock for a boat. Great fishing on the lake, and the water was warm and clear. Kayaks, canoe, bikes, lawn games, board games and lots more were provided. We saw tons of beautiful great blue herons, osprey and other birds. No wifi, but who needs it? Carolynne was really easy to communicate with & was a great host. There's a family campground just next door but with all the large tree cover on the property we hardly knew they were there - one night some folks were a bit loud but from the bedrooms with fans on we couldn't hear them anyway, and the campground had a convenience store that sold fishing bait, so we benefitted from its close proximity. :)

Located in Jackson's Point, Ontario's original cottage country. This c1900 cottage has been retrofitted into a home. 30 second walk to beautiful Lake Simcoe, with a semi private dock and direct water access. Close to golf, beaches spa +so much more.
This Cottage is also my home from Sept til June. We live upstairs and have our own bedroom and bathroom. From Sept-June, the main floor of the house, we share with guests staying with us. In July and August, we rent it out as a cottage for private rentals. This includes the entire space on the main floor, the yard, the porch and shared dock and water access. From Sept-June, there is a base price for the first person and each additional guest is $20. Prices in July and August are a flat rate and reflect having the cottage to yourselves. (WHEN BOOKING IN JULY AND AUGUST, INDICATE ONLY 1 GUEST STAYING AS THE DEFAULT SETTING FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR CHARGES PER PERSON) For your enjoyment, we have made available, 2 bicycles and 2 Stand Up Paddle boards (all gear is not fancy, its meant to be functional and robust) . The cottage is just up from the lake. It's less than a 1 minute walk to the dock. Val is my property manager, who takes care of everything when I am away. She is super helpful and friendly.
The Lake is terrific, there is so much around this area naturally to do that costs nothing, or very little. It's a beautiful, relaxed hidden gem to visit that is really close to the GTA. Fishing, cycling, swimming, golf, walking and so much more is at our doorstep.

Welcome to this bright, cosy and well-appointed bachelor space close to Lake Simcoe, less than two kilometres (and one stop light away) from HWY 404 to Toronto. It is in a fully renovated walk-out basement that has plenty of light in the kitchen and living area, but is darker in the sleeping area. The bathroom has a full-size sink and a wonderfully relaxing Jacuzzi bathtub (no shower). We are accepting only bookings of 21 days or more for those who need them due to COVID-19.
You will have your own parking space which is big enough for large pickups or SUVs as well as a secondary parking space between the sidewalk and the street for medium-sized or small vehicles. Walking down the well-lit stairs on the left side of the house, you will go through the gate to the patio door underneath the deck. We have a lockbox so that you can arrive anytime you like. The space has five areas: the kitchen and dining, the living/TV area, the sleeping area, the work area and the bathroom. You will enter into the kitchen and eating area which is well appointed with an apartment-sized fridge, full sink and plenty of cabinet and food preparation space. The cabinetry is black in a modern style and there is a stone backsplash that helps to make the area inviting. On its own rolling stand in the closet is a full-size counter-top convection oven that can handle pizzas and full meat dishes such as chickens and roasts. The sink is large and has a pull-down faucet with a powerful sprayer that self-retracts. Perfect for quick clean up. It also has a microwave and a hotplate. We have designed the kitchen area to be a bright and efficient place for cooking and food preparation during the day and an elegant space in the evening. There is a small kitchen table and two chairs (extra chairs can be provided if there are more than two guests). Moving into the carpeted living area, you can relax on a two-seater leather couch or a leather reclining chair. We recognize that lighting is important for many guests. So the living space and sleeping space have dimmer pot lights as well as a floor or table lamps so that you can customize the lighting to your preferences. Your bed has a queen-sized latex mattress that many of our guests have complimented. It is the perfect blend of support and comfort. It is separated from the living area by a square block shelf, which helps to darken the area and provides some privacy. You have full control of the lighting by two sets of dimmer switches that control pot lights. One set illumines the living area and the other the sleeping area. There is also a separate light for the kitchen and one for an exterior light outside the patio door. One light also controls the hallway and working space. The work area has a large, sturdy folding desk and lamp as well as a bright overhead light so that you have greater control over the amount of light needed. Having a separate work space means that work can be done away from the eating and relaxing areas. There is a large closet that holds the counter-top convection oven on a rolling stand, space heaters and linens. It also has space for any goods you need to store. How We Clean We have always enjoyed the highest ratings for cleanliness and published our cleaning protocol since April 2017. Here it is: "Many guests appreciate how clean the space is when they arrive and that makes us happy. For all you clean freaks out there, here are our cleaning routines. We want you to know that we make every effort to provide a space that keeps you healthy! 1. Paper towels and disinfectant are used on all door knobs and handles, table tops, light switches, appliances, and the TV remote control. 2. Paper towels and disinfectant are used on all bathroom surfaces (sink, mirror, toilet, shower handles). 3. All cutlery, dishware, glasses and mugs are washed - regardless of whether the previous guests washed them. (Although guests washing their dishes makes our job faster!) 4. Mattresses are flipped over (front to back in spring and fall, end to end in summer and winter). The main bed has latex inserts that are flipped over; the mattress itself is not. 5. The washer is put through a cycle with bleach every 3 months and we encourage guests to use the microfibre cloth attached to the side to wipe down the washer after every use (prevents mold)." With COVID-19, here is our expanded 10-point cleaning protocol. 1. We disinfect our hands before cleaning and then wear gloves while we clean. The gloves are disinfected with a bleach-based solution immediately after use and our hands are cleaned again. 2. We ventilate the space before we clean, allowing fresh air to circulate for at least 20 minutes. If possible, we leave all windows open during the entire cleaning process. 3. Where it is needed, we clean, then disinfect. We use detergent or soap and water to remove dirt, grease, dust, and germs. Once the surface is clean, we spray with a disinfectant, let it stand for a few minutes, then wipe with a paper towel. 4. As our original cleaning protocol details, we have always used disinfectants on frequently touched surfaces like light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, faucet handles, kitchen and bathroom surfaces. (See our full list of surfaces at the bottom of the page.) 5. Sofas, rugs, drapes, and other soft, porous surfaces are cleaned and, if possible, machine-washed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. 6. We wash all linens at the highest heat setting recommended. That includes bed sheets, mattress covers, hand and bath towels, kitchen towels, and blankets. 7. We only use a plastic canister vacuum cleaner that can be emptied and disinfected after every cleaning. Empty the vacuum cleaner after every cleaning. 8. We line trash cans. Placing bags into trash bins makes it easier to dispose of tissues and other waste. 9. All cleaning supplies are disinfected after every cleaning and all used paper towels are bagged and brought to the trash in the garage where they are bagged again. 10. All clothes used for cleaning are immediately washed at the highest possible setting. Checklist of items to clean and disinfect General: Doorknobs and handles Air vents Surfaces Light switches Remote controls Tables Fan and lamp chains Window sills and window handles Thermostats Lockbox and Keys Hairdryers Ironing boards and irons Garbage and recycling bins Kitchen: Sink Cabinet handles and pulls Appliances: convection oven, microwave, coffee maker, kettle Condiments: oil, salt and pepper shakers Hard-backed chairs Bathroom: Sinks Toilets Faucet handles Tubs Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap dispensers
We have just moved to Keswick and are still discovering its charms. Everything is very close - within a 5-7 minute drive. Banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, Walmart, Canadian Tire, fast-food outlets and LCBO are all along Woodbine Avenue. Closer to home are Tim Horton's (5 minute walk) and many stores and restaurants along the Queensway South that leads into Keswick. We are a two minute drive from Vista Park that has a wonderful view of Lake Simcoe and leads to some trails and the local dog park.

  • It was a very good long weekend with a group of friends. The house is nice and simple, has all necessary utilities. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The house is located close to lake Simcoe, so you can take a walk along the lake, however, there is no particular walking trail or beach, you have to walk along the side of the road. Communication with the host was very easy, and check-in/check-out instructions were very clear. Thank you for our stay!

  • Mike was a great host and we had a super time at his Georgina cottage. The very spacious, well maintained cottage has everything you could want including air conditioning, lots of comfortable beds for sleeping, hot shower, top of the line BBQ and fire pit. Mike even left us citronella candles so we could ward off mosquitos while outside at night. The cottage is a very short walk to the clean and quiet Willow Beach. Nearby stores include Walmart, LCBO, Dollarama and Rexall and best of all, Georgina is not even 1 hour away from Toronto!! Don't forget to check out Maple Leaf Ice Cream store in Jacksons Point, aka the Pink Ice Cream Parlour, just six minutes away! Thanks for everything Mike!

  • The space was perfect for my family to get ready for the wedding and then have a safe place to go to after the wedding was over! The view was beautiful and super clean!! The pictures show the space well. The pull out beds were a small in the length so that was a little tricky but if only one person stays on each bed and they can sleep on an angle it would work well!

  • Home was lovely and extremely clean. Hosts were very responsive and always willing to help! They went out of their way to help us with the paddleboat and the fire pit Just keep in mind that the airbnb is attached to the main home where the guest live. In addition, as they have other guests in a separate part of the home we had to wait until the second day to use the firepit. So you're in a separate entrance to a separate part of the house. Otherwise, a great experience!

My place is close to Jackson's Point, great views, lakefront, surrounded by mature hedges with great privacy. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, and the neighbourhood. My place is good for families (with kids). We also have a boat lift for your boat.
  • It was very spacious house. The master bedroom was very large and had a comfortable bed. Beautiful front yard and back yard, all enclosed which made it great for our dogs. Nice beach with shallow water. Great family vacation. Maha was a wonderful host. Very responsive to all our needs. We recommend her cottage. Thanks again Maha! Barb & Kris.

  • We had an amazing time at Maha's cottage. It's right on the lake and the huge backyard is a bonus. The water was great for kids because it's quite shallow. We spent most of our days enjoying the view and playing outside. Maha was very quick with her responses and she ensured we were comfortable and happy. We will certainly be back!

  • Granny’s Cottage was perfect for our ladies weekend. It was warm and comfortable and super clean. Chris has it stocked with all the necessities! It’s great when you don’t have to travel with your own linens and towels! Walking out on the frozen lake and seeing all the ice fishers was quite an adventure! Would definitely recommend staying here and Chris is a wonderful host with quick communication and a very friendly and down to earth personality!

  • I typically don't write reviews, but Chris and Fran were such wonderful hosts and Granny's Cottage was such an amazing cottage, I felt compelled. The cottage has beautiful views of the lake and Snake Island. It is set up for fishermen with a fish cleaning station, mud room, great parking for trucks and trailers and has nice access to the lake for sleds. Additionally, it has all the amenities of home. I can't wait to go back!

    Aaron2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Chris’s property to ice fish for the week. We were very pleased with the property. The house is located next to the lake and offers easy access for a quad or snowmobile. The house is very clean and works very well for anyone wanting to ice fish. Chris added a fish cleaning area that is very nice! That area is also heated which makes cleaning fish very comfortable. There is plenty of parking and a large yard for parking snowmobiles. Fran was very helpful and I enjoyed our conversations. I will be staying with Chris and Fran next year when we return.

Since they live right next door, we were able to ask them any questions we had in passing. They really took the time to consider the little things people need when away from their own home. The cottage offers a great view of Lake Simcoe and the added Canoe & Kayaks were a bonus! The kitchen was well stocked, wood was already set to go on the fire pit, and the home was super clean! The extras including the bbq, the cooking oil, salt & pepper, pots and pans really helped make this place feel like a home away from home. I'd love to come back again!

  • Al was a great host! Very accommodating and quick to respond. His cozy cottage had a really nice layout, with a large kitchen, very well equipped and lots of counter space. Comfortable beds as well! We were very close to the lake as well which was nice especially since we were going ice fishing. We will definitely be back!

    Kristin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived on the coldest day of the year, but once there, the warmth and welcoming cozy cottage was as advertised. The proximity and access to the spectacular Lake Simcoe was ideal for us. And with blue skies, deep snow, the breathtaking enormous frozen lake and the unfailingly picturesque sunsets, we had some of the best that Canadiana could offer, all topped off with Al being the perfect host. We’ll miss it.

  • David was a great host very friendly and welcoming, fast response very understanding. cottage was great clean and comfortable huge backyard secured premises with gates. clean water he provided us with boats and canoes, and also he let us use the woods for fire. also at last moment my brother and his wife David very accommodating and allowed them to stay with us with very nominal charges. thanks David for your hospitality.

  • David was a excellent host, the cottage was beautiful. The screened in deck was amazing and to have access to a boat was an added bonus.

  • A beautiful property right on Lake Simcoe. A very nice sunroom that overlooks the big backyard and lake. We had friends over to party and have a fire in the backyard. The hosts live in an attached portion of the house, but they were gone most of the days and we never saw or heard them. Very responsive and helpful answers to questions, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend up north!

  • This is our 2nd stay at this location and won’t be our last. The yard is amazing and we love being right on the lake and able to sit on the dock. We also got a lot of use of the fire pit and screened porch. This place is perfect for people that want to enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the lake. If you are looking to stay indoors, all of the essentials are provided- but you may want to bring a few dvds. We come to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and this location is convenient for us. Thank you again David for a wonderful stay and your amazing hospitality.

  • David is one of the nicest airbnb hosts I've stayed with. He's very responsive, friendly, and helpful. As many reviews have already noted, the place is not entirely private (as the main house where David and his wife stays is attached). But David was very considerate to my group and went away for the long weekend so we could enjoy the space on our own. The indoor space where the 3 rooms and kitchen and bath were was crammed, but it's got the basics of what you would need, and how much time do you spend in your room at the cottage anyway (one of the rooms was smaller than the other two, and maybe bring your own pillows if you're particular about that). The living room was nice (2 couches, a tv, and it's where the fridge is). But the amazing parts of the cottage were the huge screened porch and very sizeable backyard. The screened porch had a large bbq and is a great place to enjoy meals with lots of seating. The back yard is large! Lots of grass to play games on, and there are three big trees for shade or if you want to put down a picnic blanket. There is a dock and you have access to a row boat and a canoe. The shoreline is very shallow (you can probably walk in 50m no problem - with water shoes!) but you can row the boat out to swim. We didn't have any luck with fishing, but it's possible I guess. There's a very nice and large fire pit, and 3 picnic tables for seating in the yard/ around the fire. Overall, a great stay! Definitely really good value for a long weekend cottage rental.

  • We had a great time at this place. It is a peaceful area with a beautiful view all day and night. The terrace was a perfect size with a table and chairs for dinning and viewing the nice scenery. Highly recommend.

This room offers two twin size beds. It also has a well-padded, cozy chair with ottoman (perfect for reading books at), and a small writing desk and chair. The private bathroom is equipped with a large, luxurious stand-up shower. This room does not have a bath tub.
Beach-goers have been spotted wind surfing or kite boarding here on windy days. Rent a boat or seadoo, or bring your own and use the local launch, and enjoy a day on the water!

  • I had a lovely stay here and would definitely come back! My room wasn’t just luxurious and stylish it was very cozy and comfortable. I slept very well and wasn’t bothered by the street noise. In fact I couldn’t hear anything at all. The town is small and quaint but has everything you could possibly need. I went a street over for dinner at Tar’d & Feather’d, had great food there. Then in the morning went around the corner to The Little Brown Jug for a coffee and muffin. There’s great shops on the street and a picturesque harbour a 2 minute drive down the road. Such a cute undiscovered town. I definitely recommend visiting Beaverton and staying at this affordable luxurious boutique hotel! Thank you for everything Alex and Sandra!!
