Places to stay in Death Valley
My place is small, cozy, unique, clean and comfortable within walking distance to quaint downtown areas. While it does have sleeping accomodation for up to 5 guests, that is a tight fit, with a queen-sized futon and small sofa bed in the living room and a queen-sized bed in the single bedroom. The bedroom is curtained off for privacy. It is most comfortable for 2-3 travelers.
Peaceful, tranquil getaway close to Death Valley National Park.It is most comfortable for 2-3 travelers. You are welcome to build a fire in the firepit and enjoy staying put to relax and stargaze. I stock firewood weekly, however, sometimes it gets used up so, if you are really looking forward to a fire, please consider buying firewood en route. Also, the attached greenhouse gives protection from the sun and wind, providing a place to dine and relax.
Eclectic, quiet, simple pleasures such as no traffic, desert strolls, stargazing and sitting outside by the fire.

“Sunrise Suite” is a private bedroom / bathroom / sitting room that has its own private entry! Arriving late and just need a place to rest? Also perfect for those who will be out all day and need a home base. There is a bedroom, full bathroom and sitting room. There is a front door from the driveway which makes it unique and totally private. Views of Mt Charleston are amazing from the windows, and theres a small but private porch with a bench to enjoy fresh air too!
This is a BASIC ACCOMMODATION, there is NOT a coffee maker, NO fridge & NO microwave in this unit. This minimizes cleaning fees and also the electrical outlets cannot handle appliances so please plan to dine out :) This accommodation is totally private with a sitting room, bathroom and bedroom with queen size bed and views of Mount Charleston to the east. The property is adorned with spiritual values, crystals and Native American artifacts. There is a walking stone labyrinth and copper pyramid for healing and meditation. Across the street there is 50 acres of bare land that makes for beautiful pictures of the sunrise and sunset. This Airbnb is operated by Feel Good Charities, a 501(c)3 non profit organization, with a mission to provide sanctuary for rescued wild horses and Burros.
What do I love about my neighborhood? It isn't one! The homes face 50 acres of desert. Not unusual to see a few coyotes hanging out or running after jack rabbits. The majestic view of Mt. Charleston still captivates me at sunrise and sunset! We are 5-10 minutes away from the Pahrump Valley Winery, Mountain Falls Grill Room and My Thai restaurants and about 15 minutes from town where there are grocery stores etc. Some attractions include: Death Valley National Park Ash Meadows Bird Sanctuary Front Sight FireArmTraining Jimmy Lewis Off Road Spring Mountain Motor Sports Ranch Death Valley is HUGE. Here are some suggestions: Day 1 - center, about 1 hour away -Dante's View (mountain ranges) -Zobrinski's Point (color) -Badwater (lowest point and HOT) -Artist Drive (mineral colored rock and park) -Furnish Creek Ranch (museum, store, food) -Visitor's Center for water & info -Mesquite Dunes -Charcoal Kilns (high elevation, views!) -Telescope peak Day 2 - lower, less than 1 hour -Shoshone (limestone miner caves, museum, old cars) -Tecopa (hot springs, outdoor & indoor) -China Date Ranch Day 3 - upper, 1.5 hours -Ash Meadows (endangered pupfish, blue/green hot, birds) -Beatty, Rhyolite (ghost towns) -Goldfield (old wild west town with jail, etc.) -Scotty's castle (closed due to massive flooding) -Ubehebe crater (amazing implosion) -Racetrack We are 45 minutes from the south Vegas strip.

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Beatty, NV at Rebecca’s place- the space was private and well kept with a fenced in yard that was great for our dog. There were lots of thoughtful touches and amenities like coffee and snacks, and extra toothbrushes (new in the package) in case we had forgotten to pack them. The location was nice for accessing Death Valley National Park. Fun local places to try for dinner are the Sourdough Saloon and Happy Burro Chili and Beer. We recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area for sure!

  • Great host! Very clean space with nice amenities.

  • Convenient to visit Death Valley

    Michael2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca’s place was great. It’s exactly what the picture shows. Outstanding amenities such as tooth brush which is rare in United States and noodles etc. Not sure if she keeps providing one, but it was great for us. I recommend her place to other guests who especially visit Death Valley.

    Ryan2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • A unique and very clean place. My husband and I loved spending the night there. The village is typical, it is an excellent memory. The house is great and very clean. Rebecca leaves many attentions there. I recommend without hesitation!

    Cinzia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place, about 30 minutes from Death Valley. It has connection, different than the park. The only unfortunately thing is the dogs that bark the whole night. I’m a heavy sleeper and I woke up with the noise. It’s comfortable for two people, I’m not sure about more than that. It was a nice staying!

    Gabriela2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place. Comfortable, clean, homey feel and a nice little porch and yard. Great location to Death Valley. We highly recommend staying here.

I am located between Las Vegas & Death Valley. I'm a retired nurse and understand and use Universal precautions. I am very much into infection control. That is why you have a private refer. There is Free Safe parking in front. Each RM has new paint & linens. Also, a Refer, 2 chairs, luggage bench, TV & Desk. Maps, Trip & dining Info available. I offer baked Goods, Coffee & Juice. The RM RATE only allows for Kitchen food prep, MW & Toaster. I greet you then retire to my Suite.. Thanks KC
This bedroom is being decorated. I will provide picture updates. Your room has luggage racks, new ceiling fan with light computer desk, a refrigerator and 2 chairs. There are two rooms than can be booked. So, also, look for Rm#1-Close Location to Death Valley & Front Sight. The RM #1 has a clean Victorian look as well.
I am right on the road to the Death Valley border near the town of Shoshone. There are many places to eat down the street. The least expensive gas is across the street from the front of my house on Highway 372.
  • Its was great a experience. The host was very friendly and welcoming. She did gave a homey vive. Everything was nice, clean and comfortable.

    Iffat2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an excellent stay. KC is wonderfully welcoming and invested in her guests’ stays and experiences in the local area. Her place is one of the best prepared for Airbnb guests I have seen - labelling is clear, all the necessary amenities are available (and more!), the mattress was extremely comfortable and her place immaculately clean in general. We will be really keen to return again in future. KC, many thanks for your efforts.

    Seb2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second stay with Kc. Once again, everything was perfect for what we were looking for. Kc could not be more generous and her place was filled with her hospitality. Hopeful to cross paths again.

    Steve2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kc’s place was so nice and clean! The room was also very cozy and perfect for our road trip to Death Valley. Kc was also extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Wishing we could have stayed longer! 10/10 would recommend this place!!

    Karl2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kc's place was perfect for us. We came to Pahrump on the way to Death Valley for some needed warmth and natural beauty. Kc gave us tips where to go in the park, good local recommendations for food, and was kind enough to let us use some gear to make our stay in the park even more comfortable. Kc's place was immaculate and comfortable, a convenient touch-down spot to and from Las Vegas to Death Valley. Kc was welcoming, responsive throughout the reservation process and helpful. Cannot recommend highly enough.

    Steve2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay here! Her house is gorgeous and she added so many thoughtful touches to the room - it was very homey. Lots of tips for exploring the Parks nearby, and wonderful snacks. Definitely recommend!

    Katelyn2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed staying in KC’s home!! Would recommend to anyone and if I’m back in the area, will stay there again. Thanks KC! Oh, and Tater is adorable!!!

  • KC’s place is very easy to enjoy. Everything is clearly labeled and so you know exactly how her place functions, when she is unable to be there to greet you. Entrance was easy and the room and bathroom were inviting and in excellent order. Her porch and rocking chairs are a special treat after a long day of driving.

I'm located between Las Vegas & Death Valley. There is Free Safe parking. I am a retired nurse and know how to use Universal Precautions. I am totally about infection control. That is why all my guests have their own refers. Your Rm has a private refer, 2 chairs, TV & Desk & luggage bench. I have Maps, Trip & Dining Info. I provide Baked Goods, Coffee & juice. New Full size raised bed, & some kitchen privileges. The Bedroom is equipped with TV, WIFI, closet, desk, d so chair, lighter mirror, rocking chair and bench for luggage, ( big or small). Sometimes you will share the bathroom with guests in the other room. This is rare that I book them out at the same time. The seasonal bookings require it. The room is newly painted and people seem to really enjoy the rocking chairs on the front porch. All the linens are washed and dried in the sunshine. They smell very fresh. I have just put new Air conditioning & Heating in the whole house. Super quiet.
A quiet neighborhood. The house is on a quarter acre and is fenced all the way around. Is near all major highways to Death Valley, Las Vegas, and Front Sight. Walmart and three other grocery stores are only a three minute drive and so are our downtown Casinos and Restaurants.
  • Kc truly went above and beyond. This was by far the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. Upon arriving, she gave us a tour of the home and made us feel incredibly welcome. It was a shared space but she made it so easy to determine what was our space- she even had a separate kitchen area with a coffee maker that was already set up and all you had to do was press “go”. She put together an entire binder with maps of Death Valley National Park and was able to suggest activities and routes (along with restaurants and more local activities) for us since she is a tour guide. It is also only about a 45-60 minute drive to the park, for a fraction of the cost. She provided a small breakfast in the morning. Our room was very cozy and she had extra blankets available for us. Her outdoor space was amazing too- we definitely would have stayed up stargazing if it was warmer. We also enjoyed her sweet little dog, Tater. We were so impressed and will definitely stay here again if we return to Death Valley. We can’t recommend or thank her enough!

    Clara2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kc is an outstanding hostess! Her attention to details, including information on best spots in Death Valley and the surrounding area, were so appreciated! The bed was extremely comfortable too. A++

  • After now staying in both of the rooms at KC's AirBNB it's always a very pleasant and stress free experience with comfortable beds.

    Nick2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The only thing I can say is: I wish I could have stayed longer! Super clean, comfortable, cozy room. KC thought about everything a traveler needs. And she k n o w s the Valley so I was happy to get some great tips about places I would have missed otherwise :)

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • When you visit KC’s AirBnB be prepared for an outstanding host, a clean, and pristine environment. You will not be disappointed. I enjoyed my stay and will return the next time I’m in town. Reserve with confidence.

My place is close to great views and restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of privacy, fenced yard, clean and cozy, front deck to have coffee or cocktails while enjoying the peaceful desert. It is just miles from Rhyolite ghost town, Death Valley, hot springs and more.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Our space is 8 miles to the entrance to Death Valley through Daylight Pass. You can enjoy breathtaking stargazing due to the lack of light pollution. It is quiet and peaceful, lending itself to walking, hiking and solitude.
Our neighborhood is eclectic and peaceful. You will love that you can go for long walks at sunset or sunrise and have clean air, quiet, and little traffic. Be advised that there are wild burros that wander around town. They are harmless, but not very traffic-savvy and they don't wear reflectors, so be on the lookout!
  • If you’d like to check out Death Valley, this is the right place to stay. Extremely clean and stocked with everything you’ll need. Bagels and spreads were provided for breakfast, which were greatly appreciated. Very easy self-check in. We highly recommend this listing!

  • Very comfortable.

  • Great location! Very affordable, good quality accommodations for visiting Death Valley. Great communication and thoughtful owner!

  • Andrea's house was very comfortable and spotless clean. It is very convenient for those visiting Death Valley. The house has an old style-family vibe, it is very cozy with plenty of space. The only small and not significant downside (at least for us) was not having internet reception. Wifi worked for a couple hours at the very beginning and then it just went away. No big deal for us though. Thank you Andrea!

    Raúl2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location to explore Death Valley. Andreas place was more spacious than expected! Checkin was super easy with a lock box. The house was clean and all amenities were provided. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, sugar and creamer, bagels, and a water filtration system was an unexpected bonus! Don’t expect reliable WiFi, which wasn’t an issue for us since we had our phone service.

    Caroline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place exceeded our expectations. It's basically a super cozy house with a great backyard and a clean, well-equipped kitchen that has everything you could possibly want (including salt/pepper/olive oil/condiments & bagels and creamcheese too!)to cook a great meal, which is important in a place like Beatty that doesn't have too many food options (more options for drinks than food). Thanks also to Andrea for a heads up that there is no fresh produce in Beatty, so we stocked up in Las Vegas before coming. The photos on the site don't do the home justice. It's a fantastic place that has absolutely everything you need. And it's so clean. And quiet. Andrea is a great and easy communicator. Perfect place.

  • We stayed with Lynn on our trip to Death Valley. Lynn is the most warm and helpful Airbnb host I have stayed with. She was there to greet us even through we arrived pretty late. The bed is extremely comfortable. Breakfast was yummy. The night sky of Pahrump is filled with stars!!! Lynn also had recommendations to Death Valley on the ready, which is extremely helpful. I highly recommend staying with Grandma Lynn when you're in the area.

  • Grandma Lynn is so kind and lovely. The room was very fantastic. You can find anything you need in the room. The bed is so comfortable, so that we had a very good dream. The bathroom is very clean. She thoughtfully prepared tips of Death valley park. She even prepared our breakfast to us, this is the first time to enjoy local breakfast. Please don't hesitate to choose here as your stay.

This apartment is a clean, comfortable, light and airy haven to relax in. It has a private entrance and fenced back yard to enjoy outside, vaulted ceilings, comfortable beds, and a great room including full kitchen as well as laundry room with washer, dryer, deep sink and roomy counter for clothes folding. Just minutes from Death Valley National Park, it’s perfect for desert adventures. A front deck gives a panoramic view of our small town, the surrounding mountains and exquisite stargazing.
Our place is 8 miles to the entrance to Death Valley through Daylight Pass. You can enjoy breathtaking stargazing due to the lack of light pollution. It is quiet and peaceful, lending itself to walking, hiking and solitude.
Our neighborhood is eclectic and peaceful You will love that you can go for long walks at sunset or sunrise and enjoy clean air, quiet and little traffic. Be advised that there are wild burros that wander around town. Generally harmless, they are not very traffic savvy and they do not wear reflectors, so be on the lookout!
  • Such a convenient and friendly stay! The perfect spot to stay for adventuring into Death Valley

  • Ann was great at communicating and it was a shame that we were only able to stay one night. The place was sparkling clean with plenty of towels and bathroom essentials. The beds were very comfortable. Check in was amazingly easy and the price light was left on to welcome us. One of those amazing AirBnBs! Thanks Ann

  • House is great! For being a tiny space, the vaulted ceiling in the main entrance really make sure t feel like the perfect size for a small group! Loved the small touches- like having common items like coffee, creamer, syrup, etc as well as wine for our first night! Also loved how thoughtful Ann was- she provided books on Death Valley for us! Would definitely recommend this to other travelers!

    Mike2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant stay, thanks to the attentions but also by the charm and the comfort of this accommodation. The surroundings are just as warm and welcoming. A welcome and a stay at the top!

    Margot2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The unit was easy to find and very tidy. Beatty is a quiet town which was a nice change from being in Vegas the week prior. After a very cozy night of sleep, we explored nearby Rhyolite and then ventured in to Death Valley. Excellent experience!

    Miranda2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Wild West Cabin was perfect in every way. Ann was really nice and was quick to respond to texts and emails. Super clean and comfortable beds, plenty of fluffy towels, and the shower was great with plenty hot water for the three of us. Everything you could possibly need for cooking was supplied in the great kitchen. Our friend stayed in the loft, she is a bit taller, and while she could not stand up straight up there, she was able to sit comfortably on the bed with head room to spare. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit the first night. Restaurants and a dollar store nearby. The drive over into Death Valley was scenic and not a bad drive at all, even late at night. We would definitely stay here again if we come this way, and highly recommend it for comfort, cleanliness, and the price can’t be beat! The bottle of wine on the table on our arrival was a thoughtful and lovely surprise. We give it 5 stars!

    Donna2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the space, was a very cute cabin that we could use to base our death valley trip from. We only used the king sized bed which was super comfortable, but saw there was enough space in the loft for a few more.

A little house deep in the desert. A wonderful design house in the middle of nowhere, 20 miles off the Death Valley National Park boundaries, with 80 acres of land and unobstructed views to the desert and the mountains. The minimum stay is TWO (2) days.
The site is an isolated piece of land in the Nevada High Desert near Scotty’s Junction and is far from any infrastructure or for that matter any neighbor. This vacation home in the middle of an isolated stretch of high desert, designed by Peter Strzebniok (nottoscale, San Francisco) incorporates the vistas by visually expanding into the surrounding landscape, providing stunning views, while also making the desert part of the interiors – merging the inside with the outside. The house itself measures 1,200 sf, has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, a storage and utility room as well as a large open kitchen, dining room, living room area that can extend onto the deck when the large sliding doors are opened. A large 900 sf deck with a sunken-in hot tub connects the two building modules while creating a transition zone between the inside and outside that through the use of large full height glass sliding doors can be completely opened so that the outside and inside of the building seamlessly merge if one desires so. The building sits on a large concrete plinth elevating the building above the desert floor so that it appears to float above the ground while lifting it out of the flash-flood water level. Passive cooling concepts such as cross and stack ventilation, shading, building orientation were used throughout the project. The house is oriented in such a way as to take advantage of prevailing winds that, through cross and stack ventilation, maintain a comfortable temperature in the house, avoiding the need for an highly energy intensive air conditioning system. The windows facing south are shaded by the large trellis on the deck while all the bedroom windows are facing north in order to prevent heat-gain. The large crawlspace under the house double functions as storage space as well as a climate buffer as it is filled with gravel that helps to maintain a low average temperature below the house throughout the year. *** “In the High Nevada Desert, Sleeping in Star-Surround” By JOYCE WADLER The New York Times, Aug. 3, 2011 NEIGHBORS are few out here in the high desert of Nevada, where Fabrizio Rondolino, an Italian journalist, built his dream home. There was a fellow one lot over who, after reportedly hearing instructions from above, built a chapel. But possibly the voice subsequently hollered down, “Just kidding!” for while the chapel remains, the owner’s trailer is gone. There is also the Shady Lady Ranch, a bordello (legal in these parts) about seven miles down the road. Being an outgoing and friendly sort, Mr. Rondolino took his wife and two daughters, both under 21 at the time, to say hello, soon after they bought their land a few years ago. “I was locking the car, and my wife and two girls ring the bell,” Mr. Rondolino remembers. “And the guy opened the door, and they saw two girls and a lady.” The man seemed to think they were looking for a job, and he told them several times that no under-age girls were allowed in the house. Then Mr. Rondolino arrived and informed him they were the new neighbors. The man wasn’t very friendly, Mr. Rondolino recalls. He said, “Good luck,” and that was that. But bordellos and mystics are not the first thing an Easterner wants to know about after arriving on this stretch of land 150 miles north of Las Vegas, not far from Death Valley, on a scorching summer day. The first thing one wants to know is whether there are rattlesnakes. The answer, from Peter Strzebniok, the architect who built this house and is also visiting on this day: no, it is too hot. Rattlesnakes prefer the shade. The next question — the big one — is for the owner: Why would he build a house in the middle of the scorching nowhere? It is not an unexpected question. Mr. Rondolino, who arrived earlier the same day from his home in Rome, with his wife, Simona Ercolani; their daughters, Francesca, 23, and Bianca, 17; and his parents, Gianni and Lina Rondolino, cheerfully interrupts, as it is one he has heard countless times. “Why, why, why, why, why?” he asks, his face full of happiness, like a man who has been reunited with a true love after a long time apart. “It all started with ‘Zabriskie Point,’ ” he says, referring to the Antonioni film about 1960s counterculture. “Simona’s father worked on that movie — he was chief electrician back in 1969. ‘Zabriskie Point’ was kind of a mythical occasion for him. It is set in Death Valley; part of it was shot at Zabriskie Point.” “Anyway, we came here for the first time 17, 18 years ago, and we fell deeply in love with Death Valley, so we keep coming,” continues Mr. Rondolino, who is 51 and speaks English fluently. “And then we decided, why not build?” “My father has the Alzheimer’s for 13 years,” says Ms. Ercolani, who is 47 and speaks English less fluently than her husband. “When he died, the last words he remembered was ‘Zabriskie Point.’ Not me, not my daughters, not my mother. Only ‘Zabriskie Point.’ ” She adds: “When my father died, we take the airplane here to honor my father and just walk, and he” — meaning Mr. Rondolino — “says, ‘It’s a beautiful place, we can build something.’ And joking, I say, ‘Sure.’ ” Speaking of her husband, we have just noticed he has a small blue “S” tattooed on his hand in the tender tissue between thumb and forefinger. What’s that about? “We had a small troubled period,” Ms. Ercolani says. “So after we build the house, I marked my husband.” Does the desert attract those with interesting stories? Or is it just that in the desert one has time to listen to them? Nye County, where Mr. Rondolino and Ms. Ercolani built their house, is so wide open that driving along Highway 95 from Las Vegas one can easily find oneself doing 90 miles an hour. In Beatty, some 30 miles away, there are a number of intriguing characters: a cowboy re-enactor at the Sourdough Saloon who will tell you about his favorite hat and the days he really did cowboy (that’s a verb in these parts); the auto engineers and drivers testing prototype vehicles in Death Valley, which are often covered in plastic camouflage to hide their design from snooping photographers; the owners of the Shady Lady Ranch, who brought in a man for their female customers, after successfully challenging the Nevada law forbidding male prostitution (the man, who gave an interview to The New York Post in which he compared himself to Rosa Parks and Mahatma Gandhi, is no longer there). Then there is the story of Mr. Rondolino and Ms. Ercolani, aficionados of the American desert. On this summer afternoon, they are playing Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, and welcoming guests, as the temperature in their house, which has no air-conditioning, tops out at 94 degrees. Mr. Rondolino, whose father is a cinema professor, is a novelist and press agent as well as a journalist, and was once a spokesman for the former Italian Prime Minister Massimo D’Alema. Ms. Ercolani is a television producer. The couple, who have both been married before, have visited many deserts over the years: the Simpson in Australia, the Gobi in Mongolia, the Atacama in South America. But about 10 years ago, when they were going through a rough patch romantically, the desert played a major role in their lives. Mr. Rondolino had had an affair and moved out of the house, and there were, he says, a lot of tears on both sides. During this “crisis” in their marriage, they spent a few weeks in Death Valley. “We had a kind of emotional breakdown in a place ironically called Last Chance Mountain,” Mr. Rondolino says. “But luckily, this was not our last chance. We came back to Italy, and after a couple of months we were together again. And we decided to celebrate with a week at Furnace Creek Ranch.” In 2005, the couple bought 40 acres here, for $70,000. A year later, when they brought their daughters to see the land, Ms. Ercolani buried her wedding ring under some rocks on the property. Why? Ms. Ercolani explains in Italian, and one of her daughters translates: “She buried her wedding ring under the rocks because we are locked in this place, because they lost themselves here and found themselves here. It’s a symbol of their love. When she buried the ring, she buried the sad part.” Mr. Rondolino came across the work of Peter Strzebniok (pronounced Cheb-nee-ah), a young German architect living in San Francisco, whose firm, nottoscale, had created an affordable prefabricated house. Architect and client never met or even spoke on the phone during the planning, construction and furnishing of the desert home — all the planning was done by e-mail. (They met for the first time on the day the architect and his wife, Deborah Wong, traveled out to the house with this reporter.) Mr. Rondolino and Ms. Ercolani visited the site only once during construction, when the interiors were not yet finished. Now, sitting in one of the bedrooms, the couple acknowledge that this is unusual, but they say they had no fears. The architect was European, and they had a shared sensibility. The notion of a totally prefabricated home was considered but rejected — it would have been too expensive to transport. Instead, sections of the house were manufactured five hours away, in Reno, and brought to the site. The original estimate of $250,000 for the approximately 1,200-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, with an office and a spring-fed hot tub on the deck, proved to be too low. The final cost was $290,000. (Much of the reason had to do with problems with a series of contractors, one of whom spent time digging for gold instead of working.) Color is used sparingly here, as accents: green bathroom tiles that recall the surrounding sagebrush, touches of red from the bar stools to suggest the heat of the desert. Mr. Strzebniok furnished the house down to the salt shakers, relying heavily on Ikea in the bedrooms and on CB2 (the table) and Design Within Reach (the chairs) in the dining room. When he was quoted $6,000 for furniture delivery, he rented a U-Haul and made two trips himself, picking the furniture up in San Francisco. And before Mr. Rondolino and Ms. Ercolani visited the finished house for the first time last Christmas, Mr. Strzebniok stocked it with food, as well as with bottles of Campari and Pernod. “He is the perfect husband, the opposite of me,” Mr. Rondolino teases. “I’m not a practical man, but I appreciate practical men.” To the reporter from the East, there is one thing that seems to be missing. The tub set into the deck is deliciously cooling, but why didn’t they build a full-size pool? “You can’t have a pool in the middle of the desert,” Mr. Rondolino says. But Palm Springs is full of pools. “Palm Springs is for Hollywood stars,” he says. “There is air-conditioning also in the main street. I don’t like this kind of too-nice, civilized desert. To me, there is not enough desert.” They spent a week in the house over Christmas. Was it everything they hoped? “When you stay here in the night, you can see the stars move,” Ms. Ercolani says, referring to the experience of sleeping in a bedroom with a floor-to-ceiling glass corner and a skylight. Her husband adds: “I had the sensation of being on a spaceship. This winter, we had a really strong wind one night — the house was almost shaking. And there were millions, billions of stars from everywhere, you were completely surrounded by the stars down to the horizon, which in the cities or countryside you are not. Normally you see the stars above you, not around you. Yes, it was like a spaceship.”
Basically, this house is for desert lovers. If you are reading this listing, you already know what I mean ;)
  • If you want to feel solitude and experience the desert this is a great place to do that. The house is nicely designed and sits on teh flats on the desert in a quiet area. Russ was great for check in. Fabrizio's library is meaningful to the location and i got introduced to a writer that I previously was not aware of. The hot tub in the morning when it as cold outside was a great way to watch the sunrise.

  • A great and modern place to stay to visit the Death Valley.

    Giovanni2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Sweeping views in every direction. The entrance to the park that is said to be ten minutes away is closed and had been for years, so staying here will mean over an hour trip to get into Death Valley. But comfortable and lovely place!

  • There is no place on earth that has this immediate contact with your soul.

    Paul2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and the location is amazing. We used it as a base for Death Valley and would love to have stayed longer. The hot tub under the stars was a treat too!

    Adrian2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is every bit as fantastic as it seems, and it’s made exponentially more special by the wonderful caretaker, Russ. If you’re looking for a weekend of true solitude and an eerie, yet satisfying peace, look no further. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many stars in my life.

    Anubhav2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such an incredible spot and communication, check in and check out could not have been better! Can not wait to visit again.

Death Valley Base Camp is an artful travel trailer, now permanently posted in Beatty, Nevada, near Death Valley National Park. The trailer has an outdoor area with a firepit, a full size bed, a twin, coffee maker, toaster oven, COLD shower, kettle, and a composting toilet. Not luxury, Base Camp is a simple, comfortable launching point for your adventure. ! Wifi only works sometimes! ! Pipes have started freezing! All are welcome, including animals, though it's small for more than two people.
*We are having issues with frozen pipes. This means the shower and tap don't work. There is still water available in large bottle for drinking and some cleaning.* Base Camp is a travel trailer with a double bed, single bed/couch, kitchen counter with a small coffee pot/toaster oven combo and sink, and a bathroom with a COLD shower, electric kettle to heat water, and composting toilet. It shares the 2 acre property with another AirBnB, though there is plenty of space and privacy. Please be considerate of other guests, especially if you're arriving really late or leaving early. It has it's own outdoor space with a table and a fire pit which we will try to stock with firewood, but you may need to bring your own. Please douse your fires with water from the barrel. *There is wifi, though it does not always work (!) in rural Nevada.

  • I loved staying at this place! Used it as a personal retreat and a way to stay near Death Valley. It had everything I needed, checking in-out was very easy, and I felt totally safe there alone. Plenty of blankets and a space heater kept me warm and I enjoyed sitting outside in the morning. Had a great time driving into the park and exploring every day. Highly recommend

    Matthew And Sandy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The trailer is quite small and sized for 2 at most, It was perfect for me. The location instructions were easy to follow (I checked in after dark), the trailer was exactly as described and was a good value for the length of my visit (2 days) and the treats were appreciated. I will use Everett's trailer again if I travel to Death Valley in the future.

Leon sent us very detailed check in instructions, including pictures, which was much appreciated. It was the perfect size for the two of us. We also liked how quiet and tidy the neighborhood was. I wish we had more time to enjoy the fire pit and the BBQ grill. I definitely recommend the Sun Cabin!

If you’re here for the outdoors, desert experience; our home will not disappoint as we’re directly across from Bureau of Land Management land and wildlife abounds. The hiking is wonderful too!
We live at the edge of town and we’re not surrounded by neighbors. Directly across from us is the desert and we love our peace and quiet.
  • I enjoyed Wanda and Andrew’s place a lot. I stayed for five nights. It’s clean and comfortable and spacious. There were nice touches when I arrived — some cookies and homemade chocolate cake, and Andrew has compiled a very useful binder full of information about Death Valley and local attractions. There are also several books about local hiking and Death Valley in general. Wanda and Andrew are friendly and helpful and they obviously want their guests to feel comfortable and to enjoy themselves. There’s a microwave and a toaster and a good refrigerator/freezer and a stove… pretty much everything you’d need if you want to prepare your own food. Easy parking, too. The hospitality house is a very convenient home base for exploring Death Valley, which I did pretty much every day. The park isn’t the kind of place you can just breeze through in a day, that’s for sure. Too big and too many far flung things to see. If you’re spending any time in town you might want to bring some of your own groceries as I did, particularly fresh fruit or vegetables; food shopping is somewhat limited. On the other hand, Beatty is a great town to walk around and explore, there are interesting touches and surprises around every corner. I took a load of photographs in Beatty; it’s super picturesque. Unfortunately I never saw any of the wild/feral burros that Beatty is famous for… Next time! I always looked forward forward to getting “home” in the evening and the price is definitely reasonable. And they don’t clobber you with a huge cleaning fee. Thank you for a happy Airbnb stay, Wanda and Andrew!

  • Wanda was a perfect Host! The location was great for visiting Death Valley & Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Wanda gave us our privacy and her dogs are very friendly & the best guard dogs you could ask for!

  • I'm biased, but this is one of my favorite spots. Wanda is an amazing host, and an equally amazing masseuse. Her accommodations are perfect for getting away from everything and spending time out in the desert. We're already making plans to go back next year.

A jewel in the desert. Once you close the door its hard to imagine you're in the desert, mature trees.a blend of old and new.
Within walking distance from bars and restaurants. takes but a minute to get a drink at the gas station or 2 minute to have an ice cold beer at the local bar.
Happy burro and VFW within walking distance. Gas station right across the street.
  • This space was exactly what we needed for our trip to Death Valley. Willem was extremely accommodating and gave us great recommendations for the area. Definitely choose this as your place to stay, and make sure to check out the great restaurants/bars in town too. Look out for burros!

    Nick2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Willem is an outstanding host! His tiny house is absolutely adorable and very cozy and comfortable. He had amenities like ground coffee ready for the morning and a nice little outdoor seating area along with a bbq! He also had suggestions for where to eat ( we went to the Roadhouse 95 across the street and had a great burger!). We walked to the Death Valley Coffee Time espresso bar in the morning for a cinnamon roll (full breakfast available, too). We would happily stop here again and have already recommended it to friends.

  • Very convenient place to stay while visiting Death Valley. Willem was very friendly and helpful, would highly recommend. Also the shower was awesome!

  • Willem’s place is a hidden gem, a small, cute, comfy, and cozy place to stay after a long day at Death Valley National Park. Although there isn’t many places to go in the area you have all you need with a gas station that is 2 mins walking distance and a good restaurant.

    Daniel2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A true diamond in the dust, a little hard to find and area may seem like your in the wrong place but as soon as you go inside the gated area(locked and secure) it’s amazing and beautiful, very cute and homey. We enjoyed the cool evening outside on the patio that is very well light by white LED lights. It’s beautiful. Inside is tiny and quaint, with basic amenities- a pot, pan, small fridge, dish ware, bathroom with towels and a super comfy bed. Town is pretty small, walked to the dollar store and is right by a gas station (convenient!!) all within a few minutes. Few restaurants across the street, eat after you check in. We cannot say enough good things about Willems hospitality and cannot wait to come back to more of his rentals!! Loved it !

Designed to Death is a newly remodeled vacation getaway, with everything you need for a luxury desert escape. Located just minutes from the northeast entrance to Death Valley National Park and is your perfect stylish launching pad for exploring the park and the surrounding area in comfort.
Death Valley is a stunning National Park with ancient rolling sand dunes, vibrant sunsets and colorful mineral mountains. We wanted to create a space so well designed and so comfortable, you might just want to spend as much time here as in the park itself. Designed to Death is a private three bedroom, two bath home with its own fenced-in outdoor area for dining and relaxing. The eight foot picture windows and the double set of full light french doors in the living and dining room surround you with incredible mountain views during the day and the giant stone fireplace in the center of the home makes for cozy nights. Designed by a San Francisco-based interior designer, the living room was inspired by the SoHo FarmHouse in the Cotswolds. She imagined Lady Mary of Downtown Abbey falling in love with a cowboy and the pair moving with all her furniture to this desert oasis (it could happen. Mary was fickle and prone to manic love choices). Brand new plush chairs & couch sit between the 20' foot rock fireplace to one side, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains and sunset to the other. For movie night after a day in the park, there is a 47" TV with full streaming options. A double set of french doors opens to the outdoor living room, surrounded by palm trees and fenced in for privacy. The kitchen & dining area flow together to create one great room in modern farmhouse style with vaulted ceilings and striking black beams. The dining area has a large wood table that seats 8 and French doors opening to the outdoor dining area and mountain views. Sigh. The living room has a full size fold down couch which is great for one adult or two children (so if you're a party of eight, please be advised we're not equipped for 8 adults). The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to hang out & cook with your tribe: brand new cabinets & appliances; stainless steel pots & pans, utensils galore; center kitchen island with seating for four; farmhouse sink with pull-down spray faucet, and brand new dishwasher. A sparkling new large capacity washer/dryer are also tucked into the sleek new cabinets and hidden under maple butcher block countertops. And there’s also a gas BBQ stocked with propane for all your grilling needs! For your morning cup of coffee, we've provided a mason jar of Joshua Tree Coffee Company's coffee beans (the best & yummiest the Mojave has to offer). The bedrooms: Simple. Free of clutter. Soothing. The very best pillow top mattresses, organic super soft sheets, down comforters in plush duvets. Individual air conditioning/heaters with remote controls in each bedroom allow perfect customized comfort. Both bathrooms are newly remodeled floor to ceiling: Brand new tile floors and walls, recessed lighting, new shower & bathtub, eco duel flush toilets, and feature stunning live edge custom wood vanities with squared porcelain sinks. A tankless instant water heater system provides endless hot water so everyone is guaranteed a piping hot shower any time of day. Dogs are welcome and we have TWO fenced in yard areas for them so they can feel like they're on vacation too. :) We love our dogs and would love yours too if we met them, but please remember they are not allowed on couches, chairs, or beds. No pet fee unless you insist on spoiling Fido, then we will have to charge you an additional cleaning fee to get all the fur off for the next guest! Don’t make us do it! Warning: we do have external security cameras on the premises for your safety and the home's. These are only monitored in case of an incident for your privacy.
Beatty is a charming Wild West town with old wooden saloons, restaurants, and one pretty new casino! It's located just 8 miles from the northeast entrance to the park and is the unofficial National Park town for Death Valley. Electric Cars: Beatty is located on Nevada's Electric Highway and is the closest EV Charging Station to Death Valley National Park.
  • We had a great stay- could not recommend this place more.

  • Really cool space! I was here solo, but I’d definitely come back with a group. It’s conveniently located near mesquite flat sand dunes, badwater basin, artist palette and other core attractions in Death Valley.

  • We loved this Airbnb. It was extremely comfortable and a wonderful place to share with friends. The kitchen was the best we had ever seen. The entire place was spotless. After long days of sightseeing and hiking this Airbnb felt like home. Mikel and Karen were gracious and quick to respond to our questions. We appreciated the information provided about sights to see, restaurants and so much more. If we return to Death Valley this Airbnb will definitely be our first choice. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. Gloria, Jolene and Dave

  • My husband, dogs and I really enjoyed our stay!! We loved being so close to Death Valley and Titus Canyon road to go and explore. The Designed to Death home was very comfortable. The dogs really enjoyed running around the backyard. The neighbors are very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Joanne2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, we were so glad that we had chosen Mikel & Karen’s place to stay for our trip to Death Valley. The place was beautifully decorated and super comfortable. Had everything we needed in the kitchen, even foils and plastic wraps! The instructions how to find the house and all the tips about the area were really helpful. We met the neighbor and he was very nice. We highly recommend D2D for anyone who is visiting Death Valley or just looking for a quiet arty place to relax. :)

  • Grandma Lynn is one of the best airbnb hosts out there. She's a true gem. Lynn is so friendly and welcoming and has a lot of tips on the area. Her place is clean and easy to find and very comfortable. She makes sure your stay with her is the very best--she even made sure to turn on the heaters in the room so it would be warm when you returned home. It's only about an hour outside of Death Valley, so a great place to base yourself for a few days.

    Michelle2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Grandma Lynn is the absolute best! Making a second trip back to Death Valley and had to stay here again and catch up! This is the ONLY place you should go when out here because she is simply fantastic!

    Garrett2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Lynn was wonderful. Check-in was easy and straightforward. We were greeted personally and also given a warm hug. The house is really nicely decorated. We even had a coffee maker in the room. On the bed was a map of the Death Valley where the most beautiful spots were already marked. Lynn cares really well for her guests and it was worth every penny! I would definitely stay there again.

  • I loved my stay at Lynn's house, and I felt welcomed from the second I walked into her home. She's kind, thoughtful, and offers great suggestions for things to do in the area (especially Death Valley). The room was comfortable and cozy, and since her place is halfway between Las Vegas and Death Valley, it was very convenient for traveling. I'd definitely recommend staying here!

  • What a perfect and ideal home base for exploring the Death Valley area! This is a beautifully-appointed house with everyone one could possibly need or want for a desert vacation, and more! Thoughtful touches abound, including basic foodstuffs like eggs, coffee, condiments, etc. We stayed four nights, and it was convenient for hiking and driving throughout Death Valley, as well as Red Rocks Canyon. A very special experience—not to be missed—was an opera performance at the Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley Junction. What a treasure!

    Elaine2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy, Manny Thank you very much. Although the weather is cold, it cannot hide the enthusiasm of the owner. They are attentive, detailed information, everything is perfect. The price and location are great. Extremely satisfied. We are enjoyed our stay. Brian

    Kim2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is probably the best, if not one of the best, airbnb places I have stayed at over the past seven years. It had so much to offer and all the little goodies that guests could use or have. I felt like I was at home. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to visit and hike in and around Death Valley National Park.

  • We came to Pahrump because it was next to Death Valley. And it was a perfect location. If you want a clean, quiet, comfortable home to stay Bluebird is all that. It’s outside of town a bit but a safe spot. Cindy lives next door and very kind and helpful.

    Sue2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This home, away from the hustle of the city lights is a great place to relax in the desert. The house was stocked with everything that a family would need, including shampoo, soaps, a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of blankets and towels. Welcome to Darwin. We are located in Inyo County. As of March 11th there has been no reported cases of the Covid 19 virus in our county. Darwin is located between Lone Pine (Mt. Whitney) and Death Valley (bad water) the highest and lowest elevations i in Inyo Co. California. Darwin is an ideal small desert town which started out as a mining camp in the mid 1800's. There are roughly 30 - 40 residents depending on the time of year.
We have a one bed (queen), one full bath, with shower that is wheel chair friendly. All door ways are 36" wide. Fully furnished kitchen with appliances and cook ware. Microwave, toaster oven, four burner stove top, coffee maker, refrigerator. Tiled floors throughout. Radiant heating under the floors with each room having it's own thermostat. It has 6" double insulated walls and double paned windows, which makes the cabin an warm and cozy place to hunker down in the winter. It has cooling fans, cooling system and a wonderful afternoon breeze. Also a beautiful view of the high desert in every direction.
You can buy a postage stamp in Darwin as far a businesses this is the only one. A must is a walk around town to look at the many artistic displays by locals. A chat with a local, everyone is friendly. A morning cup of coffee on the porch in a rocker chair and a view. Their are many old machines and cars located through out town. Enjoy!
  • Good Death Valley alternative to expensive hotels. Easy check in and nice interior. As Jody mentions in the description, don’t expect cell service, WiFi, gas or restaurants nearby.

    Sean2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jody’s cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and had many personal and cute touches. It was a perfect location for our short stay in Death Valley. I didn’t have the chance to meet Jody, but she was an excellent communicator and prompt with responding to emails. I highly recommend staying at her cabin and I would definitely stay there again.

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is cozy, quiet, clean and provides a remote oasis. Jody is a fabulous host and makes sure everything is understood and ready for your visit. I recommend staying in Buck’s and Darwin to explore this unique part of California. Make sure you make time to enjoy the stars and enjoy some meals in this cozy cabin.

    Erika2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Buck’s cabin while visiting Death Valley natl. park and it was great! Darwin is a really cute town and so is this cabin. There’s a full kitchen, heated floors, and lots of charm. The only thing I’d change would be the cell service, this was a little too much disconnect for us! But obviously that’s out of Jody’s control. Anyway, I would definitely stay here again! Great proximity to the park.

    Kelsee2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jody's place is well situated next to Death Valley. It's the perfect location to stay when visiting the national park. It's spotless and charming. The checkin process was smooth and painless. Jody responded to every question and request very quickly. She provided everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. I hope to have the opportunity to stay at her cabin again in the future. Thank you, Jody!!

  • Buck's cabin is a great place to stay at a base for exploring Death Valley. Only about 30 minutes to Darwin Falls and 90 minutes to Furnace Creek/ heart of the national park. Great star gazing and very quiet place. Very cozy and comfortable. All basic cookware at the house. Loved the heated floors made it a perfect indoor temperature in the winter.

    Jodi2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little retreat. Full of handmade wood furniture and really cool metalwork. It had everything we needed (including no WiFi—which forced us to disconnect for a bit and enjoy the scenery). Wish we had a few more days to spend there!

    Mary Kate2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Uncle Buck’s cabin, a.k.a Jody’s place, was a true delight! The place was so nicely equipped, super cozy and clean, and the town of Darwin is a treasure to be in. Jody was great at responding. She also invited us to the local New Years Eve party where we met some incredible people. The porch was so nice to sit on our with morning coffee, and also to see the stars at night. The fact that she allowed us to bring our dog was amazing as well. We are so looking to staying again and exploring the area even more. Thank you Jody!!

Pahrump. It is a small town, safe and quiet. It is ideal place to go outside at night and see the stars. People are so friendly and helpful when you are in need. It is more like a ranch town. We have several vineyards and wineries. We have golf courses. We have banks, Home Depot, Smith's, Walmart and supermarkets and lots of Family Dollar stores.
  • Had a great stay at Cindy's House! We stayed for one night while exploring Death Valley National Park, and it was a relaxing way to end the day.

    Grace2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Leon was very helpful and gracious and very quick to respond. I left something that wasn't critical, but it was much appreciated that he let me know then sent it. There were 2 safety concerns. We couldn't find a fire extinguisher and it isn't listed as an amenity (we didn't need it). Also the floor of the shower is pretty slippery and a few anti-slide strips could make a big difference. Otherwise, the amenities are adequate, the bathroom was very well stocked and the location for us was ideal. It's quite a way out of town if people are looking to go in for the casinos or other things. It's several miles closer toward Death Valley for those who come primarily for that, so you can avoid traffic and signals with easy access to a good highway.

    Kathleen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Good experience! Clean, comfortable and secure. We stayed here after a day at Death Valley which is about an hour drive’s distance. Upon check-in we didn’t realize there are two gates with two different lock boxes all at the same address, so at first we tried the wrong one, but the host quickly clarified which one we needed once we contacted him. A nice option!

    Megan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I visited with our dog during our trip to Death Valley and it was a perfect place to rest after a long day of hiking. Pahrump is probably the closest major town to Death Valley and had tons of restaurant options. The house is connected to the rest of the home (potentially another rental or where the owner lives, not sure) but this rental has its own gate, driveway, and entrance. We had everything we needed and the place was very clean! The bed was comfy and the sheets were fresh. Shower water pressure was great! Definitely would stay again if I was in the area.
