Our cabin is warm and cosy. Enjoy the space, help yourself to veg from the garden, feed the farm animals, collect the eggs and explore all our area has to offer
We are in the heart of the countryside but within walking distance of the town. The cabin is accessed via a raised walkway over the vegetable garden and nestled neatly under mature beech trees. The cabin is on our small farm which you are free to explore, experience and enjoy. The area is a slightly off the beaten track hidden gem. You could use your time here to explore Lough Key Forest Park, the town of Boyle, Boyle Abbey, King House and Drummanone Dolmen. You could visit the majestic Carrowkeel passage tombs and delve into the caves of Keash. Try walking around some of the lesser known lakes and woodlands e.g. Clontykilla woods and cycling a myriad of country lanes. See if you can catch some fish on the nearby Boyle river or Lough Gara. Spend your evenings snuggled in the cabin with some local literature or head to Boyle for something to eat and a few pints. For those wanting very lively nightlife Carrick on Shannon is 12 km away
This is an area with hidden gems waiting to be discovered. We love our interactions with the animals, the peaceful lakes, rivers and hills and our friends and neighbours. A quiet pint in town with a good meal and chat is a simple pleasure. A rich historical tapestry from passage tombs to hidden abbeys to grand mansions continues to stimulate.
  • Right on the farm, also very private! Everything lovely and clean and only a few minutes away from the town, would recommend!

  • John and his family made us feel very welcome in their beautiful pod. He took time to explain all of the local points of interest and made sure we were comfortable. The pod is cosy, well furnished and in a lovely location. Definitely recommend!

  • Don’t let the size fool you, you’ll have EVERYTHING you need at the hideaway! This was the first Airbnb that I personally felt as comfortable as I do at home. Boyle had the best food in Ireland and it was the most affordable as well. If you want a host that has a well planned out selection of things to do, this is where your heart will be!

    Claire2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a nice Valentine's weekeend in this cozy cabin during storm Dennis. Great place, great host, and completely warm! Also, since we didn't have a car the hosts came to pick up and drop us at the train station. Thanks John!

    Zackary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed the location, the reception and the cabin. I'll recommend the experience to anyone and everyone..

    Gerhard2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • John's accommodation loved it. The indications to the place were very precise. The cabin is very cozy and John and his family are very hospitable. Everything was spotless and they even left us some homemade snacks. 100% recommendable.

    Airam2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • John was very accommodating and helpful! Great host 👍

    Brendan2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • John and his family were marvellous hosts. The check-in time was flexible, they gave us lots of information and local recommendations of bits to do, and they provided nice, thoughtful touches like the scones. We would definitely recommend coming here for a relaxing break and a de-stress. The wooden cabin was quirky and different to the usual place we would stay in! It was also very handy for cheap accommodation in driving distance of Sligo. Big thanks to John and the family!

  • Masters Cottage is truly a wonderful home, we felt so comfortable and relaxed there. Stormy nights spent cosy in front of the fire, a stunning view of Benbulben and our fantastic neighbour Martin all helped to make our stay one to remember. Daragh is an exceptional host who was always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions or needed anything. Thank you for everything Daragh, we hope to return in a warmer season some time in the future.

    Scott2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Master's Cottage is a lovely little bolthole to clear the mind and relax alongside the fields close to Benbulben. North Sligo is an amazing area to explore, as well beyond to Leitrim and Donegal and other close counties.

    Libby2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The rustic cottage is perfect for a secluded trip away - the scenery was amazing on every corner, lots of walks nearby and even though you feel so secluded it is very close to coffee shops, pubs and supermarkets. Would recommend having a car. It was so cosy with the fire on - loved our five days here.

    Siân2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Its remote, but thats perfect for me. I had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Daragh's place and even got an inside tip on beaches to visit. Recommended for those seeking a place to disconnect and get away from the city. Facilities are clearly recently installed and really good - underfloor heating in the bathroom is something I never thought I needed.

    Alistair2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and charming cottage on a quiet rural road. Nice and cozy indoor space with good hot water. We found the SuperValu in Grange was an excellent resource and highly recommend the Armada exhibit in town too. Daragh responded to our questions promptly and was a great host. We highly recommend the Masters Cottage for a quiet retreat in a perfect Irish setting.

    Alice2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Daragh’s cottage in Grange is lovely. The first time I walked to the bus station I thought it was a bit of a long walk, but got accustomed to walk by second day and realized it really isn’t that far. Wouldn’t recommend walking at night though. The cottage is adorable. Daragh responded to the few questions I had quickly and accurately and had plenty of local information at the cottage. The walk to the cottage provides amazing views of Benbulben. If you rent the cottage, relax and enjoy!

Delightful and quaint traditional cottage with original features, comfortably decorated to give a warm and pleasant stay. Cosy and snug, and filled with books for every interest makes this cottage a particularly pleasant experience. Situated on a secluded country lane, it is both private and peaceful. 7 kilometres from the village of Dromahair, and 8 kilometres from the town of Manorhamilton. Close to the river Bonet. Ideal rural retreat to escape the stresses of modern living.
The entire cottage is traditional and quaint. Technology- free zone, it's like stepping back in time. Very tranquil and peaceful, sited in a very beautiful part of rural Leitrim

  • What a fantastic little cottage! If you want a very traditional Irish experience, then this is it. Well equipped, clean, quaint and cosy. The electric blanket on the bed made for a very cosy and comfortable nights sleep!

  • Eve's cottage is prefect for a quite hide away.

    Sinead2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to relax and unwind. Eve’s hospitality was second to none, with lots of little touches like lighting the fire for our arrival, some essentials like milk and eggs there for our arrival etc. More than I’ve come to expect from an Airbnb, but they make for a very welcoming experience. The house is everything it promises to be, full of character and a great place to be a little bit off the grid but still very comfortable.

    Lucy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Note: All bookings honoured unless cancelled by guests due to covid 19 outbreak. In short term suitable for people already in Ireland. 72 hours between guests. No direct interaction with host necessary. Self reliance/isolation required.. Attractive two floor residence with its own private entrance. No access inside to main house, but attached to family home where host lives. Formerly an artists studio the space is bright and spacious. You need a car as nearest shops are in Dromahair 8km.
The space: Two floors as shown. Upstairs, double bed plus alcoves for working/extra bed. Generous cupboard. Velux roof lights with blinds. Wooden floor boards artist paint stained. Nice solid stairs to lower level. Stone floor on lower level. Wooden windows throughout. Fridge, electric cooker and hob. Washing machine. Solid wood stove with back boiler. Bathroom, limited height (6’4”) walk in shower, basin, toilet. Simple but practical living space, expect comfort, not luxury.
Located in Lough Gill Drumlin Lakeland area, near Sligo/Leitrim border. Beautiful views of lough Gill and Parkes Castle on private farm walk (wellies needed). Very private off side road. Sligo only 12-15 minutes drive (Sligo hospital and IT) would suit person on work contract. The area. Attached to farm house surrounded by private farmland. Bit scruffy outside but improving as I am compiling this. private grass footie pitch. 3 acres of wild gardens/orchard (beware the bees). Loads of car parking space.
  • We recently stayed at Daragh’s cottage and had an amazing time. The cottage was easy to locate and in very close proximity to the local town Dromahair. We would recommend having a car as most places in this area are more remote. The cottage was cozy and clean and bright, and with the peat fire lit it was a dream! Very comfortable for the two of us, plenty of space. The kitchen was very convenient as well. Daragh was on hand to check us in (and we even met his very friendly dog!) and responded very quickly to any question we had, but we definitely felt like we had the cottage all to ourselves. Great stay!

    Derrec2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place. Located in stunning countryside, it's peaceful and relaxing, yet only a short drive from Sligo town and all the area has to offer. Daragh made us feel very welcome and after a brief hiccup with the hot water, he sorted it out for us. The space is very comfortable. We visited during very cold and stormy weather, but were cosy and warm once the stove was lit. The bed is so comfortable and the loft area is lovely with all the natural light. The kitchen is well equipped. We cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for our 5 night stay and had no problems. The bathroom had a couple of issues with the shower and heating but Daragh is due to have these problems fixed soon. The place was spotlessly clean. Overall a really lovely place made even more special by Daragh's friendly dog and two cats. We'll definitely return.

    Julie2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I concur with most of the reviews here. Daragh was an exceptional host. As I was there for three weeks during the cold winter months.. When I mentioned place was a bit cold Daragh went out and and bought a wall heater which he installed within few days, wall heater made a big difference. As heat rises it kept upstairs pretty cosy too. He also kept me in good stock with fuel for the fire. He also very generously let me stay at his house for a couple of days when I got sick and couldn't leave at end of my stay. As one of the other reviewers said here a real gent.

    Louise2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and house, easily accessible by car. Exceeded expectations. Daragh is a friendly and helpful host. Bonus: Cat and dog nearby.

  • Fabulous little place to get away ! Thank you for the hospitality.

    Judy2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is in beautiful part of Leitrim, close to lakes and a castle! It's only a short drive to Sligo or smaller neighbouring towns. Daragh was a friendly host and made sure that I was set up with lots of firewood for the wood-fire stove. This used to be his Dad's artist studio, so the upper split-level bedroom is spacious and bright and really nicely decorated. The bed is really comfy! Downstairs is the living-room/kitchen and bathroom. There's plenty of facilities to cook your own food. It's amazingly quiet - a perfect retreat to come by yourself or with a partner. Thanks Daragh!

    Aisling2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a hidden gem. Away from the hectic world. I felt renewed after just two nights. Such character, views spectacular. Horses grazing on hills, lovely walks. The apartment itself was so quaint. Old deep walls, beautiful pot belly stove. Go there experience excellence, darkness and quietness. It's a must

  • The place was exactly as advertised. My concern coming in was that being near a bar could be noisy but there wasn't an issue with that and the bar was full when I stopped in for a pint. I parked on the street for free (after 18:30) but there was a parking lot across the street I could have paid to use as well.

Entertainment can be found in the Whitehouse and Quinns while the more traditional tippler is catered for in Moores, Bolands and Mellets, whilst Campbells and Horkans cater for many of the younger generation. Carmels Cafe is renowned for its wholesome homecooked food and of course Helens Chinese is famous as is Market Kitchen for that late night snack.

  • Great stay at this cosy cottage. Comfortable, clean with lovely views.

    Cecilia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great space with plenty of room for more than two people. It was just my wife and I and the space was way more than we needed. Niamh is a generous and gracious host. I'd recommend this space for short and long-term stays. Wonderful access to everything in the surrounding areas and beautiful views out the front door. After a long time on the road, we were incredibly grateful for the laundry service for a very reasonable fee.

    Jim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! I definitely recommend this place. The view is beautiful, and there are lots of hikes around.

    Sarah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent space that is both comfortable and well appointed! The bathroom has a heated floor, which is outstanding for colder times! Definitely engage the host about activities in the surrounding area, as she can offer a lot of insight and is truly passionate about sharing the beautiful countryside with anyone who is interested. Not too far from Sligo, with plenty of options for dinner, etc., fairly close by. Definitely recommended!

    Vincent2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 would stay again. The cottage was much more spacious than I expected and was the perfect size for my friends and I. While the location was out of the way from Sligo, it was centered right in the countryside which is exactly what we were looking for. The upstairs was warm and cozy all night, and we loved the local tips provided. Anyone looking to stay in the Sligo area should stay here.

  • One floor, no stairs. Pay as you go for electricity, but really easy and not that expensive. Just keep a few 1 and 2 euro coins on the counter. Ask Audrey for help with washer/dryer. We figured it out but didn’t need to as she was very available.

My apartment is located in the centre of Sligo town, a blink away from everything you'll need. It's private, cosy, and central, suitable for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Being so central, it can be noisy. Light sleepers take note.
It's a two-bedroom apartment in a gated complex right in the centre of Sligo town. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, and clubs within easy reach and you're never far from nature with the river fifty metres away.
Sligo town is friendly and easy-going, rain, hail, or shine. The best thing I ever did was move here. Being in the centre of town, it can get a little 'lively' at night. I provide earplugs to help with that.
  • Very clean room and bathroom, the apartment is in plain city center. Eamon went outside to get us in for a warmth welcoming, gave us local tips and even provided earplugs to sleep (very noisy people down the road) !

    Nicolas2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • We are very grateful to Eamon for hospitality, kind attitude and excellent advice! Thanks to him, we have so many wonderful experiences and memories. Eamon is a very interesting person, it was interesting to communicate with him, to learn new things about the country and its inhabitants. An authentic apartment in the very center of Sligo, among the romantic bridges, it is comfortable and interesting. There are many pubs in the area, having come here on weekends or holidays you can plunge headlong into unbridled fun with locals and other tourists. We advise.

Tucked away in the unspoilt Ox Mountains it is the ideal screen-free place to ‘get away from it all’, where the only call is that of nature beckoning you to explore it. This hidden gem is an ideal retreat for nature lovers, artists, or a romantic break away. Be embraced by the four seasons, bird song in spring, buzz of bees in summer, amber colours in autumn and the dark sky in winter. Reconnect with nature in our back to basics Bed in Barn.
The Bed in Barn is a characteristic converted hay barn on its own 1 acre private plot. The hay barn with its arched roof on pillars was a common outbuilding on the Irish small farm and used to be a part of a 'small holding. Staying in the Barn will give you a back-to-basics experience. The Barn is carefully converted into a new eco-friendly accommodation, retaining the old 5 m high pillars and its 'barn' character. Take a stroll through the landscaped garden, enjoy the view on the valley and the mountains from your swing bench in the covered outdoor area, light a ciggie or make a barbeque without being rained upon. When you enter the Barn you step back in time. The rustic kitchen downstairs has a pantry with crockery and cutlery; a fridge, a toaster, a kettle, pots and pans and utensils to cook up a meal on the a wood fired 'old world' range. For a quick stir fry there is an electric hob. (Please note, NO OVEN provided). In the pantry you will also find some ingredients for a (basic) breakfast, porridge, cereals, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, pepper and salt. From the kitchen a slightly steep staircase leads you up to the master bedroom ensuite and livingroom/bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a queens wardrobe, a chest and a wash basin. Linen, towels, shampoo and a hairdryer are provided. Situated between the bedroom and the living room, you will find the bathroom with a shower using rainwater heated by the range downstairs. An electric shower is standby to sprinkle a hot drop on you if the water from the range has gone cold. Then there is the spacious living room/bedroom with reclining chairs and a couch that can be converted to a single bed or a double bed. If needed extra beds can be added. From this room you can enter the (ensuite) bathroom as well. You can throw a dice on one of the board games or loose yourself in a book. We harvest rainwater to flush the toilet, take a shower, do the dish wash (left tap, hot water). Fresh drinking water (right tap, cold water) comes from our own well with its filtration system The main heat source is a wood burner (range) downstairs. It heats the water and the upstairs radiators. It is also the main hob for cooking - although an electric hob is available. Upon arrival you will get instructions how to light the fire in the range. Plenty of fire wood is at your disposal. We are happy to help you out on getting a fire going. On the roof 14 Solar PV panels are installed. It generates electricity and if there is a surplus, it goes into the Power diverter and will heat the water in the tank to provide hot water for the radiators and the shower as well.
The Bed in Barn is situated between Lough Easky and Lough Talt great for fishing and water activities. Tucked away in the heart of the Ox Mountains it is the ideal place for hiking, walking, cycling and horse riding. Cycle tracks and walking trails and loop walks run in the vicinity. Banada stables are nearby where you can explore the surroundings on horseback, Island View Riding Stables (between Sligo and Bundorran) offers also beach riding. If you are a surfer Easkey and Enniscrone is a quick drive across the mountain. Wild Wet Adventures offers water activities on a.o. Lough Talt or explore lakes etc by - guided - Sligo Kayak Tours . Awesome adventure tours offers kayaking in the Sligo/Leitrim area as well. The Atlantic Ocean with its sandy and rocky beaches and the Wild Atlantic Way are just 20 km from here. Pay a visit to Enniscrone seaweed bath, or go for a drive to Easky with its castle, natural swimming pool, take the coastal road to the old thatched Beach Bar and sandy beaches and dunes at Dunmorran strand. Further afield you can visit Carrowmore Megalithic tombs & Ceide Fields, Down Patrick Head (where you can see all various layers of rocks), Museum of Country Life and much more
  • I highly recommend Bed in a Barn for the best type of R&R. We had the most enjoyable time here. We also slept like logs in the extremely comfortable bed. The barn is cosy and comfortable and really helps you appreciate the beautiful surrounding area. We left feeling relaxed and calm.

  • A very special place to stay. Warm & cosy with great hosts, we will definitely be back

    Liz2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the barn! Wonderful silence, lots of nature and great hosts. Benjamin and Ineke really made sure we had everything we needed, while still giving us lots of space and privacy. We will definitely be back!

  • Thank you for everything! We had the most amazing weekend!

    Karolina2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ineke and Benjamin were wonderful hosts. They gave us many useful hints, for activities in the Sligo area. The barn is very cozy and the fairy forest around it is great for a hike. Benjamin gave us an introduction into book binding that was really fascinating. We had a great time there and would definitely come again!

    Jakob2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ineke gives a great Irish /Dutch welcome. I’d highly recommend staying here if you just want a break from it all. Very relaxing setting. You’ll want to stay longer.

  • Thank you ineke we had a great time 😊

    Katie2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go. This place is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Ineke and Benjamin live in a cottage over the road and were very friendly and helpful but at the same time did not intrude at all. We took our two young children with us (6 and 3) and they loved it there. The second bedroom was large and had fun bedding, soft toys, books and quirky chalk boards and decorations made by Ineke and Benjamin. They loved toasting marshmallows over the campfire and exploring in the woods. The surrounding countryside is just beautiful.

The house is also within easy walking distance of the town centre, and the local amenities are also good. Valerie is a good host and the house is clean and tidy. Excellent value for money here.

Whether it's a short stay or a time for you to relax and enjoy the delights of Sligo, our Cosy Cabin is the place for you. Close to Markree Castle, Coolaney for mountain biking, Strandhill for surfing, Benbulben for trekking and Sligo for culture, great restaurants, cafes and super traditional Irish pubs. We offer a comfortable and welcoming stay in a natural space with woodlands, meadows and a river to explore. You have complete privacy but we are close by if you need us for anything.
There is a fully working kitchen with hob, fridge with freezer as well as tea and coffee. Electric power shower in the bathroom. Hot water in kitchen and bathroom taps. There is an outside tap suitable for cleaning off surf gear and also mountain biking gear as well as a space to store and dry them. We built the Cosy Cabin with an emphasis on sustainability but maintaining comfort and warmth. So we have endeavoured to source reclaimed materials, upcycling, repurposing and reusing as much as possible. We have a rain water collecting butt for the loo which is plumbed directly to the cistern and we use "green energy" electricity. Recycling of rubbish and composting is part of how we live. We grow our own vegetables in our garden and polytunnel surrounded by fruit bushes and trees. Our free roaming hens provide us with fresh eggs and our bees keep us in honey. There is plenty of space around us, 7acres, but we are also so close to Sligo 20mins, Knock Airport 30mins, Markree Castle 7mins, Coolaney mountain bike trail 7mins, Strandhill 25mins that we can be anywhere really quickly. Its the best of both worlds! There is plenty of nature around at different times of the year to observe, from the heron catching fish on the river while the ducks are floating past, to all the little, and big, garden birds that frequent our garden. During the summer months the skies are alive with colourful dragonflies and damson flies while butterflies flutter by too. On clear nights you can star gaze, possibly able to see the Milky Way and the different constellations in the night sky.
  • Our stay was awesome and this place is the cutest place we had so far. We just stayed for one night but had all we needed. Aisling left some fresh eggs and porridge bread for breakfast. Close to the tiny house is a nice river and Sligo or Strandhill are just a short drive away. All in all perfect and we are looking forward to come back!

    Lena2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Could not recommend this place enough! Lovely little cosy gem in Sligo, close enough to Sligo city but you also feel completely away from the hustle and bustle! Quaint and gorgeous surroundings! Aisling was such a lovely host, we had absolutely everything we needed in the house. The personal touches made all the difference from the hot water bottles left to the fresh bread and eggs for breakfast! There’s a lovely little walk down to the river where it’s so scenic! When we come to Sligo again we will definitely be back!

Rathosey Cottage is a rustic secluded traditional Irish stone cottage over 200 years old, located in the foothills of the Ox Mountains. Our cottage is perfect for people who like walking, getting away from city life and being surrounded by wildlife in a rustic setting. There is an open fire to relax beside in the evening and guests have access to Wifi. Our cottage is within walking distance of Coolaney village and a 20 minute drive from Sligo. Dunmoran strand is a ten minute drive away.
Rathosey Cottage is beside an ancient track-way originally giving access to Osey’s Rath (fort). There are three renovated Cottages in the tiny Clachán (traditional Irish village) two of which we let for holiday use (Laurel and Rathosey Cottage). Otherwise the cottage is surrounded by trees, stone walls and several acres for wildlife, including Deer, red squirrels, foxes, pheasants etc. Our little traditional cottage has been renovated so as to preserve its original features such as exposed beams and stone walls. It is a perfect place to get away from it all, to return to a more relaxed down-to-earth way of living (but with all mod cons!) and an open fire, for that extra bit of cosy! Streaming television is provided, including Netflix etc. Laurel Cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom, living/dining room and open fire. Located beside the lovely Village of Coolaney, at the end of a long private driveway, Laurel Cottage is only 20 minutes drive to Sligo Town, shopping centre of the North-West and is the perfect location to explore the Wild Atlantic Way. Please be aware that that our cottage has low doorways, steps and a slightly steep staircase, and it may not be suitable for someone with limited mobility. We are happy to offer a 15% discount for stays of seven nights or more, this discount will apply when you select your dates.
Our neighbourhood is rural and our cottages are unique because they are secluded but within reach of a village with a grocery shop, butcher, hairdresser and pubs. Coolaney is a friendly village and a Tidy Towns winner. The area is beautiful with walks nearby at Glenwood and along the Ladie's Brea Scenic Route. A short drive down the Mountain brings you to the coast with an amazing view of Knocknarea in the distance. At the bottom of the Mountain you join the N59, the N59 is part of the Wild Atlantic Way and takes you either towards Sligo or in the opposite direction towards Easkey.
  • Rathosey Cottage is simply one of the most amazing places I have stayed , located perfectly for surfing , between Bundoran and Easky , great location , completely green , beautiful surroundings and super peaceful . The house has a lot of character and the fire just creates an amazing environment . We felt welcome with little touches that made us feel at home . Marilin was very fast at getting back to us and went the extra mile to make sure we had the best possible experience ! Strongly recommend this place !!!

    Andre2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Rathosey Cottage is an absolute gem. We (family of 4) enjoyed a week late October 2019 in the cottage and it was 'home' in no time at all after our arrival. Throughout the booking process Marilin was very responsive and friendly in answering any of my questions. This high level of communication continued throughout our stay. Check in was exactly as described. The cottage is brilliantly secluded, though adjacent to another similar cottage (we had neighbours but never met them as they clearly wanted their solitude too). For a cottage where you feel you're 'getting away from it all', we were still within a 15 minute walk to the local shops and pub. Our stay had a really authentic feel to it and I cant recommend highly enough that everyone take the opportunity to relax in front of such a cosy open fire in a such a perfect setting. The TV/SoundBar and WiFi is a great addition for those who might worry about getting bored, though the cottage also boasts a full bookcase, some boardgames and views looking out with the potential to spot some local deer (which we did). Rathosey Cottage was a great spot - if the prospect of isolation doesn't appeal there is tons to do nearby. We visited the stunning locations of Inniscrone, Strandhill, Rosses Point and ate and enjoyed the views there (all within 30mins drive). We also conquered Knocknarea to visit Queen Maebhs grave, and were mesmerised by the 6,000yr old megalithic Carrowmore cemetery. I wish anyone planning to stay in Rathosey Cottage as wonderful a time as we had.

    Jane2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little cottage in a nice rural isolated location. The cottage was clean and contained all the necessities that we needed for the week (small kitchen, washing machine, fridge & freezer and Netflix). For being in a rural area there was lots to do all within a short drive (15 to 30 minutes). We loved our first visit to Ireland and definitely would go back to this little cottage again in the future.

    Ben2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, idyllic setting nestled in woodland it was the perfect place for a short break for me and my partner. The cottage was easy to get to with google maps using the postal code. We drove from Dublin airport in about 2.5 hours. Key was in a key safe and easy to find. It’s fairly close to Sligo and a lot of attractions, we drove up to the Glencar waterfall and across to Enniskillen in one day out. The cottage had all you’d need for a few days and the kitchen was well equipped. We cooked a few meals during our stay and had no problems. I’d definitely return to the cottage and would recommend it to couples and families.

    Elizabeth2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect to relax and have a peaceful time, either by yourself or with your family. The house had everything we needed, was very cosy and comfortable.

Our house is situated on the side of Knocknashee (The hill of the fairies) and offers gorgeous views of the surrounding county. Just 2 minutes off the N17 road, the main route of the Wild Atlantic Way, we are a popular stop off for weary travelers. The area provides peaceful, scenic views which are sure to leave a lasting impression. I share the house with my wife. Both of us are inviting and friendly but also provide a separate sitting room if you would rather your own space.
Our home is set on the side of Knocknashee, the hill of the fairies. Overlooking a valley you can see spectacular views, weather depending since it is Ireland. The hill behind our home is steeped in ancient history with recent archaeological work revealing settlements on top of the hill dating back 5,000 years. The views from the house include Court Abbey which is an old Friary dating back to the 1400's and only a few minutes walk on a lovely country road. The house Our home is a new build house which is modern, with very large spacious rooms. Two of the four rooms available are ensuite and there is another main bathroom which is counted as private as we ourselves have our own ensuite. There is an extra large living room / kitchen which is a common space with stylish, modern appliances and you are welcome to use all facilities available and help yourself to as much tea and coffee as you need to get you through the day. We also have a separate sitting room if people would like their privacy. Depending on the time of year you may be fortunate enough to get an opportunity to pet or even feed the lambs in the fields surrounding the house as my family have a farm nearby. Myself and my wife both work however we love hosting guests and want to do everything to make your stay memorable. You wont have to worry about sharing spaces with other guests as we do not book multiple bookings at once so you have peace of mind that you will have all private spaces to yourself and will only have to interact with my wife and myself.
The area is some of the most scenic in county Sligo. Neighbors are all friendly and helpful and provide an area that is safe for anyone, be it young or old, to adventure and get their hands dirty in the outdoors
  • Clive was great! Asked to stay as their place last second and he made it work. They live in the country and removed from the city. It was peaceful and removed from city life. I would recommend staying with Clive!

  • A pleasure as always, very accommodating hosts and great location.

  • Mike and Sandra are very responsive. They have everything you could need for a home away from home. The door knobs are a little squeaky and if the wind is blowing the vent gets really loud. The house is close to shops and pubs nearby. A lovey place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    Catherine2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really amazing place. I had everything I needed. Mike and Sandra are really nice guys who give you good tips about things to do. The check in is very easy and uncomplicated. The Strand Bar ca 3 min to walk is a nice place for tasty pizza. I had a seaweed bath. It's highly recommended. The massage as well. I like this place and would come back.

My home is only a short walk from the town center and is located in a quiet cul de sac. The available space in my home is a spacious double bedroom with a fabulous view of Knocknarea.
  • Very good overnight stay in Mary's accommodation, we were very well received and advised. The house is in a cul de sac as indicated by Mary but very convenient for parking. His house is 10 minutes walk from the glue center, which is a real plus!

  • Great place for a short stay in Sligo! I highly recommend this place!

  • I had a great stay here and would strongly recommend it to everyone! Lovely, helpful host, large, comfortable bedroom, view of the mountains from the window, all I could have hoped for! Thanks so much Mary

  • Had a great stay here for one night. Mary is a wonderful host!

    Karam2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was the ideal host. Warm and cooperative and very friendly, she even helped me get a taxi into town. The location was spot on, only a spin down the road to sligo town centre. The room was charming and clean and I wish I could have stayed longer. I’d definitely recommend!

    Katherine2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, less than 10 minutes walk to town. Super clean. Mary was really friendly and helpful.

    Paul2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was neat, clean and that our check-in was a bit later than planned was no problem for Mary. She is a sweet host. We stayed one night only, but it was uncomplicated and comfy.

    Laura2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and clean room and bathroom. The property is located on a hill just outside the city center. It is about 15 minutes downhill into the city, however, the arrival and uphill with luggage is a bit difficult from the bus station / the Garda station. The traffic connection is unfortunately only moderately with a bus only half an hour during the day drives and at least on weekends from about 18 o'clock not more.

This is a cosy self contained Chalet located 6 miles from Sligo Town / Wild Atlantic Way.
The Chalet is 10 minute drive from Sligo Town. The Chalet is situated in a quiet tranquil setting with beautiful views over Lough Gill / Lake Isle of Innisfree and the surrounding countryside. It is two miles to historic Parkes Castle and four miles to Hazelwood House and adjoining lakeshore walkways and woodland trails. There is also a local picturesque walk from the Chalet to the Lough Gill shoreline. This is an ideal location to getaway from it all and enjoy the countryside.
    Tranquil and friendly neighbourhood.
  • Johns chalet is always the highlight of our trip. We stay here every-time we visit sligo. John is an excellent host, always making himself only a call or text away.

  • An amazing place in wilds of the countryside. It’s a cosy little chalet. Prefect for a weekend’s escape from the city.

  • We had another great stay in johns accommodation. He somehow manages to make a little improvement to the accommodation with each visit. His warm welcome is always appreciated and we will definitely be back in the new year

  • Great place, great location. Came last year also and will defo be again. John is a lovely host and very quick to communicate with. 10/15 minute drive from down past scenic views. Highly recommend

  • Love this place! My second visit and hope to be back. A perfect little hideaway in a special spot.

  • John was an excellent host. He provided perfect instructions on how to get to his place and had left the key ready for us as we would be arriving late. The location is amazing and looks out over Lough Gill. YOU do definitely need a car to get there however it can only be described as picturesque once you do. The chalet itself was perfectly clean. It's a decent sized space for 2 people for a few night and includes all the facilities you'd need including clear instructions on how to use everything, from the heating to the TV. John had left us some milk and tea bags which was much appreciated too. We really enjoyed our nights in Sligo and definitely would stay again with John in his chalet.
