  • This cosy, guest house is located in a quiet residential area and has all the bases covered as a base to explore this portion of the Republic of Ireland. We shopped at the local supermarket and enjoyed a couple of breakfasts and a dinner prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. We found snacks and breakfast supplies upon arrival as well. The washer was a big help for us because we were there four nights toward the end of our trip.

    Shelly2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good time and would recommend the apartment at any time. Everything was clean, cozy and very well equipped. Caroline welcomed us and was a very nice hostess. The welcome included, among other things, bread, pasta and milk. So you can arrive super relaxed on a Sunday and already has the bare minimum on the spot.

  • Beautiful little getaway perfect stop off point in Portlaoise as is very close to the town. Cosy and stylish. Would love to stay again at some point.

    Amy2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place, in the middle of the countryside without the noise of any traffic. And the call of birds so sweet. It is a place that's a home away from home. Keith has thought of every last little detail. It is so stylish. As for the bed, it was gorgeous. I have a terrible back and just purchased an expensive bed at home that I'm embarrassed to tell people how much I paid. So this is as comfy as that, so that's a good comparison. It was bitter cold with nasty frost and snow, and when we came back from getting something to eat and seeing friends/family, he had even thought of having the electric blanket on for us. He had also left an electric heater there to use. That was so thoughtful on a night like that.

A beautifully renovated stone cottage on an idyllic Alpaca farm, in the foothill of the Slieve Bloom mountains. This 2 bedroom oasis has the romance of an old cottage, combined with a modern comfortable finish that will leave you wanting to stay for longer. If the dates you're looking for are not available here, why not take a look at our other listing, Jack Wright's @ Hushabye Farm..
Lullabye Lodge is tucked away in a quiet corner of a working Alpaca Stud farm.
Life is quiet and slow in this little corner of the world. The gentle hum of Alpacas, birdsong and the odd tractor passing by, is all you'll hear. It's a typical rural, agricultural setting with easy access to the village(1km) Tullamore (8km), Portlaoise (15km)
  • The cottage and farm are lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

    Andrew2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great few days! Such a relaxing and beautiful cottage! It was really nice to just chill out with no tv or phones! Loved the alpacas and getting to walk them!! Would recommend to others!

    Phillippa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really great experience, a lovely warm cottage to stay in and alpacas right outside the front door. We could walk through the fields and go in to the alpacas as we wanted which was great to do our own thing. Would love to go back again when the weathers better if we’re lucky enough, the place always seems to be booked solid and I can see why as it’s a fantastic experience.

    David2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the Lodge. Paul was a great host, greeted us on arrival and introduced us to his Alpacas! A great break from internet, we came back relaxed and refreshed, already deciding when we will return!

    Ashling2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing stay here! The cottage is so cosy and warm. The alpaca bedding was very comfortable!! The alpacas and sheep were so friendly and there are lovely walks around the fields and in the nearby mountains! Paul, Elizabeth and Emily were very accommodating. I would highly recommend a break away here!!

    Maria2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I throughly enjoyed staying here with my partner. It really made his birthday and, my weekend. Outstanding accommodation first of all. Secondly, the location and surrounding area was stunning. The best part of this all was roaming freely with the alpacas and interacting with them! Very friendly and approachable. Hosts were amazing with communication and helping us get there and back home smoothly. Overall, an amazing way to relax, tune off and take in nature in again. Hopefully we'll be visiting in the near future again.

    Helen2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place to disconnect from the online world and enjoy the lovely views of the countryside and all the alpacas roaming around their fields. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable, bring some drinks to have by the fire!

    Kelly2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a memorable stay at hushabye farm. The setting is beautiful, tucked away in the cottage amidst the alpaca fields. With the alpaca stable right opposite the cottage. The cottage itself is really warm, the bed was very comfortable, nice high ceilings so the room is airy. We cooked in the kitchen both nights which worked out well for four people. Lots of alpaca themed paraphernalia to muse over. Very easy to feel at home. Paul was a great host, very accommodating and took us on a walk with the Alpacas - Goldsmith and Casanova! He also had plenty of information about the Alpacas and had some great stories. The sheep up the road are a scream. I would highly recommend this farmstay. Fantastic experience!

Athlone is a picturesque town on the banks of the River Shannon .. Athlone castle is 900yrs old and has a wonderful position on the river in the centre of town. The charming left bank area has some great restaurant ( many of which we can recommend) and pubs with lots of live traditional Irish music and Ireland's oldest bar, Seans.

Irene and David are amazingly kind, thoughtful and intelligent, and I really learned so much. Everyone should have the opportunity to stay here. The house is located on a nature preserve, and walking around feels like being in the wild. Everyone I met was wonderful. Truly an amazing experience.

  • We stayed one night in this room. It was easy to find and in a cosy and safe neighbour hood. There is a small kitchen with a refrigerator which was nice so we brought our own food to make. There is also a bathroom, nonshared witch we appreciated. Natasha and Dylan were easy to contact and helpful eventhough we didn't get to meet them. Comfy bed and easy parking outside the door. Overall it was a great stay on our overnight in Tullamore.👌🏻

  • Mag is a phenomenal host! We really enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful and quiet, perfect place to relax and enjoy the Irish countryside. Our dog Iris loved it too! Highly recommend for a couple or single travelers.

  • Perfect for a romantic getaway! It is small, but it has everything you need to spend a wonderful time in a realistic Irish cottage. Especially the nice evenings with tea and Guinness in front of the fireplace are extraordinary special. Margaret is a superb host, she is super friendly and helpful and she makes you feel welcome. She offered a lot of tips on what we could do in the area. It was a great experience and we totally would like to come back.

  • Excellent get away from it all cottage, a stove to warm the nights, a wee kitchen to cook a meal for two, a four poster bed... All conveniently located in beautiful gentle green countryside. • Great place just as described. Friendly host who left us a bottle of wine and stuff for our breakfast on the first morning there. It’s out in the country but that’s exactly what we wanted. Overall great experience staying here!

    Wayne2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was fantastic!!!! The cottage is so great and we have nothing missing. Margaret was super friendly and helpful, although on the day of our arrival, she herself was in great stress. We did not find out until later and she did not let us know. We could always ask for advice and tips, and were never disappointed. The small and large cows in the immediate vicinity, were for us an additional i point. Simply fantastic. Too bad that one week passed so fast. We would like to have stayed longer.

  • Very happy with our stay to visit family locally and for them to come to us. Fully equipped to prepare a meal for 8; everything you need plus added extras like salt, pepper, sugar, tea and coffee. Loved having three bathrooms too. Big airy feel to the place and Marian was delightful. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others

    Julie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Marian and John are so amazing! Their house was spectacular! It was very spacious and had everything we needed! It was such an amazing central location for what we had planned to do. Waking up to cows across the street was so lovely! We even got a visit from the neighbors dog a few times who was such a little cutie! It was great to have the washer and dryer in the house so we were able to pack light and rewash our clothes to wear again! We bought food at the SuperValu in town and made breakfast almost every morning which was great if you plan on trying to save money! We made fires in the amazing living room a few times as well which heated the house up tremendously! Definitely go to Flynn’s in town if you stay here and get the Penne Chicken dinner and have a Rockshore Lager! It was delicious! There are so many castles that are within about an hour or less circumference for the house! We were able to visit many of them (some of which were closed due to it being off season - we came in December) but they were still stunning sights! Definitely go check out Sean’s Bar in Athlone, the oldest bar in Ireland, which is about a 40 minute drive from the house! Make sure to say hi to Timmy the bartender! We highly recommend this place! Thank you again for your hospitality and kindness while we were in your beautiful country! -Ashley and Daniel , USA

Our home is warm and welcoming. We have lots of open space in the home and some nice seating areas that guests can sit and read or listen to music. We are located in the heart of Ireland. We have wonderful amenities in our locality; the Cross of Durrow Abbey; Lockes Distillery; Tullamore Dew Heritage Center and a vibrant rural town with lots of music and friendly people who embrace visitors to our area. GAA sports are the main interests of the family.
  • Deirdre was a wonderfully friendly host who went out of her way to help out. I would highly recommend her place to anyone who wants to get a 'Tullamore experience'.

  • The nicest most welcoming family you could ever meet. Without doubt a home away from home. I can see why Deirdre and her family are so well liked and popular within this site. You couldn’t ask for better hosts. Great location. Nice and quiet and very clean. Couldn’t do enough for you and they were always nice to chat to at the end of the night. I would 100 Percent recommend staying here

    Con2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre is certainly the best host you can find! She and her family are so unbelievably (hospitably) friendly and helpful and by their kind nature you feel right as part of the family. Although the accommodation is a bit out of the way of the city, it can not be surpassed in terms of cosiness and authentic and atmospheric surroundings. The family loves their land and the area they live in, and they can tell you a lot of exciting things and make great recommendations for trips. My room, as well as the rooms with communal use were clean and warm enough. And even if you happen to be dissatisfied with something as a guest, the family would go out of their way to make the stay more enjoyable for you. I had a really great stay and would recommend to anyone to do this experience too!

This private cottage offered the peacefulness of a rural setting while also being just 10 minutes from the town with plenty of amenities. Cozy bright and warm studio apartment. Self catering or B&B (breakfast with a little notice 12.50 ). On 1.4 acres of gardens in our lovely village of Mount Temple. 4km from the the Old Rail Trail Greenway & Moate & the M7, 11km from Athlone. A unique eclectic & rustic space with lots of personal touches. It is NOT a new Ikea clad space. Comfortable bed with feather duvet and pillows I also offer an Irish baking class, booked through Airbnb https://www.airbnb.ie/experiences/1333260?source=p2
Your own cosy apt on 1.4acres of gardens was designed and decorated by Gael. It has a wonderfully eclectic and cosy ambience that is unique to this B&B. The apt is open plan, bright and airy with one very comfortable double bed. The kitchenette is fully kitted out for self catering with a fridge/freezer, hob, an oven, microwave and coffee machine. I also have another apartment upstairs for 2 to 3 people https://airbnb.com/h/cozy-country-style-loft-apartment-in-rural-mount-temple-village
Mt Temple is a beautiful little well kept village with a bar, restaurant, shop, church, an impressive 18 hole golf course & a driving range. (We have golf sticks, in all sizes if needed) Our home is 10min walk to all of these. The charming Motte & Bailey Restaurant is open Thursday - Sunday and a 5 mins stroll. The Old Rail Trail ..Mulingar to Athlone Greenway This is a ‘must’ cycle for anyone who likes getting out on their bike. Start at one of the many entry points (the nearest is 3kms) and for the next 40km you’re in biking heaven. This is a dedicated cycle path that follows the old rail track under arched bridges, through a tunnel and past beautiful countryside all the way to Athlone. With lots of entry and exit points, you can hop on and off to explore the villages and attractions along the way. 5 mins drive away, there is a lovely 30min walk along the bog and through the woods where i bring my dogs everyday. Athlone is a picturesque town on the banks of the River Shannon .. Athlone castle is 900yrs old and has a wonderful position on the river in the centre of town. There is a great interactive museum which is definitly worth a visit, as is the free art Gallery. Luan Gallery opened up in 2013 overlooking the river and showcases some great Irish and local art. The charming left bank area has some great restaurants ( many of which we can recommend) and pubs with lots of live traditional Irish music and Ireland's oldest bar, Seans.

The studio was very well kitted with appliances and even the tea and coffee were top quality. And the welfimunh committee (the two dogs, Oscar and Zoe) were very friendly. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Built in 1820, our stately home is the former rectory for Loughkeen Church. Stay with us at Loughkeen and enjoy total tranquility within a unique ambiance and warm, country hospitality. The historic town of Birr with its Castle and world-renowned telescope are less than 10 mins away. Surrounded my rolling green fields, the Slieve Bloom mountains, Lough Boora and various bog walks are all close by, while Lough Derg is 20 minutes away for those who like fishing, sailing and watersports.
We have 3 bedrooms available (including a luxurious four-poster bed!) sleeping a total of 6 people. As the house dates to 1820, there are no ensuites but there is a toilet on the first floor with a shower room on the ground floor. Bursting with character, each room has a personality of its own with many pieces of fine antique furniture, rare memorabilia and delicate trinkets on display. Please bear in mind as the house is around 200 years old, it doesn't quite have the same amount of insulation as modern houses (!) but each bed has an electric blanket so you'll be toasty while you sleep. We have a large array of animal friends living on the grounds with us; 6 Irish draught horses, 5 dogs, 4 breeds of poultry including Jemina the Indian runner duck who thinks she's a hen, 3 guinea pigs (our eco-friendly lawnmowers), a pond full of goldfish and a resident barn owl! Just ask us if you'd like to help feed our feathered friends and help gather the free-range eggs just in time for breakfast!
We are located in the middle of rural Ireland, as such Tim will gladly give tours of the local peat bog Clohaskin. A unique site for native Irish flora and the last glimpse of one of Ireland's vanishing boglands. We are 15 minutes from Leap Castle, the most haunted castle in Ireland where the owner Seán gives lively guided tours. Lough Boora Discovery Park is nearby; a location for all kinds of outdoor activities such as cycling, fishing and bird-watching and walking trails of varying lengths.
  • Its hard to describe such an amazing experience with Tim. We felt transported back in time and close to nature interacting with the horses and gazing out on the fields from our castle-like accommodations. Each morning we were greeted with a full breakfast in front of a fire, and each evening a fire in the living room. Mostly, we appreciated Tims warm welcome, attentiveness, and down to earth humor. Although we met Hazel only briefly upon her return from a trip, she is as friendly and accommodating and we look forward to returning to this haven and spending time with our new friends!

    Kate2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A unique stay in every way. Tim and Hazel are very kind people who welcomed us as friends. We will remember for a long time this evening shared with them in the living room around a peat fire. Thanks again ! Catherine & Patrick.

  • I had a wonderful visit with Tim and Hazel, I felt like a true guest in their home. I arrived in the evening and they lit a fire for me downstairs where we chatted for ages. My room had a four poster bed and was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and I enjoyed more conversation about the history of the house and local area and much more besides. My night at Loughkeen was a real highlight of a long weekend break in the west. Thank you both!

    Jonathan2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • A true Irish welcome and experience. Tim and Hazel are the perfect hosts!

    E2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stop looking: this is Ireland’s finest B&B. We are AirBnB hosts ourselves, and so we know a special experience when we see one. The home is near Birr and its surrounds, yet is remote enough to truly relax and get away from it all. From the moment we turned up the tree-lined drive and the stately former rectory came into view, we were enchanted. Inside it is packed with history, beautiful furnishings and unique artifacts that tell the story of the house, their family, and to a degree, Ireland itself. But as stunning and antique-filled the home is, it is just a place: what made this stay so special was the people. Tim and Hazel are perfect ambassadors for AirBnB: they are friendly, gracious, inviting, warm and open. Their hospitality was unmatched. We wanted for nothing during our stay; they shared great tips on dining and attractions, we were encouraged to explore the house and farm, (seeing their magnificent horses was a real treat for the kids), they entertained us with good wine and great conversation well into the night, and the next morning provided the finest breakfast we’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy. We came away knowing we’d include a stay with our new friends Hazel and Tim in every future trip to the area, if they have room for us. You should do the same.

    Dana & Guy2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to enjoy true Irish hospitality! The house is a treasure chest, full of wonderful and interesting things! A new treasure around every corner and Tim is a marvelous host with extensive knowledge of the area! Do yourself a favor and stay at this charming house!

  • What absolutely great ambassadors for Ireland! I left feeling so greatly of Monasterevin and Ireland in general (I was visiting from the US). I will definitely recommend Robin's Rest to everyone and hope to visit again myself soon.

  • Uve and Coleman are the most hospitable and genuine people I have met via Airbnb. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

  • Brilliant place to stay. I booked the single room with ensuite. Cosy, comfortable with an electric blanket ! I'll be back ! Not many places to eat in town (on a Tuesday in winter !), but hosts are more than happy for you to cook simple meal / heat up something ....

  • Perfect little place for a cosy little holiday home. Our plan was to do the Glen Barrow Trail walk in the Slieve Bloom which is less than 10 mins drive away. Weather changed those plans but the place was so comfy and cosy we just had a relaxing morning and headed into Tullamore. Thanks for the beautiful place

  • We had a great stay at Eleanor’s place. The town is easy to find, once there we used the directions Eleanor had given to find the place. She was there upon arrival to walk us through the house and hand over keys. The house was comfy with a open standing shower, two bedrooms (nice beds) and amenities like body wash and blow dryer. It was too cold for us to use the patio in back but it looked like a nice space if you were there during warm weather. The heat is controlled inside the main house which was a little different but it worked out fine for us. The town has a great little bar and a small grocery plus there is a late (8pm-12am) quick carry out restaurant. There are two larger towns about 20min away where we could easily get lunch or do shopping. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend this lovely home.

    Rachel2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Eleanor & Claire's place is excellent. We were in the area to ride the new mountain bike trails in the Slieve Blooms. The location was perfect. Claire greeted us & showed us around making us feel very welcome & had even lit a lovely turf fire. The place was spotless with a well equipped kitchen, loads of fluffy towels & very comfy beds. Thanks ladies & we hope to be back soon. Take care of that knee Claire 😊

  • Very comfortable and affordable room, lovely friendly host, delightful pets, we enjoyed our stay.

    Maria2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The warmest of welcomes from an eclectic cast of characters was our first taste of Clare's charming abode. No stone is left unturned when it comes to Clare's desire to make her wonderful home feel like your own. From homegrown fresh fruit and vegetables to shuttles to and from the train station, every request is met with an engaging smile and promt positive response. Two glorious indian summer days were spent at Clares and we are all waiting in anticipation for our winter wonderland visit. ( just a note to point out that there was no issue with the shower what so ever). A truly unique and caring character. Thanks again

    Raymond2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay with a very friendly, knowledgeable and caring host! We had some inspiring conversations with Clare. My friend and I stayed in the twin room for a night - it had a good size and everything we needed, and it was clean, like the rest of the house. Loved the interior design, and Clare's pets! Would stay again any time!

  • We had a great time at Emma's place! We were only there one night on the way back from the Aran Islands to Dublin, but we wished we could've stayed longer! The house is located conveniently off of the M6 on relatively wide and clearly marked roads, but still in the countryside. Emma has a variety of friendly animals that will be happy to greet you upon your arrival! The house was super cute and clean, complete with a tiny kitchen if you want to do any of your own meal prep. Ask her about her cat that was featured on BBC! Highly recommend!

Very high confidence and small attention (extra heating for frileus mornings). Personal key and front door too. No time constraint. Full breakfast (bread, honey, orange juice, cereals ...) and even a small fridge! In addition to a very large and comfortable room, the view is magnificent. Rachel really deserves the title of best hostess! I highly recommend

  • After a long journey from Wales it was so nice to arrive at Jason and Erica’s cozy cabin. We were late getting in while having trouble with SIM cards but Jason and Erica made sure we knew where we were going. We walked into the space and immediately felt welcomed and relaxed. The fairy lights were on as well as the heat to warm us up. The space was beautiful, peaceful and clean. We wish we could have spent more time but had to get up early and continue on our journey. We would definitely recommend the cozy cabin if you are going through the area.

As featured in YourHome Magazine, January Issue 2017! Why not have a relaxing holiday in this beautiful sympathetically restored Traditional Thatch Cottage, dating back to around the 16th/17th Century making the central rooms of the cottage as much as 400 years old!
HEATING, ELECTRICITY & WIFI INCLUDED. Why not have a relaxing holiday in this beautiful sympathetically restored Traditional Thatch Cottage, dating back to around the 16th/17th Century making the central rooms of the cottage as much as 400 years old! Great care has been taken to keep the character of the cottage. The thick stone and mud walls are wonderfully uneven with little nooks and crannys for books and lanterns. Two lower than average doors (leading off the oldest room in the house) still hang on their original hinges. The sash windows with their deep window cills, flagstone floors, the old hobs by the fire with rare wattle and daub hood, together with the original oak beams, complete the picture. The cottage is set in totally private grounds, at the end of a private country lane about 3 miles outside the small market town of Mountrath. This cottage really has the WOW factor. The accommodation offers, 2 double bedrooms, 1 with original oak beams, bathroom with shower over bath bath, character living room with original oak beams and fireplace with turf burning stove, kitchen/diner with all mod cons ie. dish washer. electric ovens/gas hobs, microwave & fridge/freezer. Utility room with washing machine. Oil fired heating through out. However you will need to light the stove in the living room in the evenings during the colder months of the year. With the very high ceiling in this room that extra bit of heat is sometimes needed to keep everything cosy (especially if you are coming from a warmer climate than ours!) The cottage also offers FREE WIFI. Lovely rural location, nearest town with mini supermarkets, butcher, shops, take aways, postoffice = 3 miles. County town with bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, banks = 7 miles. Nearest motorway junction 7 miles. Nearest railway station 7 miles. Although the cottage location is rural and private it is not isolated. It's in the heart of a traditional farming community with the family farm just a short distance away. Just 15min drive from the lovely Slieve Bloom mountains with popular outdoor activities: walking, horse riding, fishing & golf. Or just take a picnic and relax by a mountain stream. About 1 hours drive from Dublin airport. The cottage has been built on a southfacing slope which means there are some steps both inside and out which may present a challange for people with limited mobility. Not suitable for children. Sorry no pets. The cottage is normally let as a 2 bedroom accommodation suitable for up to 4 people. However the cottage can take a maximum of 7 people as this year we have introduced a new Attic Twin/Family room with en-suite bathroom. This additional room has a double bed and a single bed so can be used as a twin/double for family room. This room is extra and is available upon request when making your booking, it costs only €15 per night for 1 - 5 night stays, 6 night stay and weekly cost are only €85. Please note, as the room is in the Attic space it has restricted headroom in places which is all part of the charm of the cottage. There is a security deposit of €150 for the property.
The cottage is located in a rural townland in the lovely Irish countryside. It's a traditional farming community so watch out for the tractors during summer months. The tractor drivers are usually very helpful and will pull into the nearest gateway to let you pass. The cottage is mostly surrounded by woods down a private driveway, there is one other family living on the same lane. The cottage is a the bottom of the lane so there is no passing traffic. You will have unenviable privacy! Just you and the wildlife. I grew up in this area so I know most of the neighbours in the area and the local people are very friendly but will respect your privacy. The local town Mountrath has everything you might need from food, to petrol, to banking, to kindling and fuel for the fire. It's a functional market town. Abbeyleix is the next nearest town which is a Heritage town, which means it has a more historic feel with many nicely maintained traditional shopfronts and pubs and some lovely coffee shops. The best restaurant for miles around is located here (Mc Evoys). The Slieve Bloom mountains (not very high but we are very proud of them all the same) has some lovely walks, many looped walks and great views in every direction. A new mountain bike trail has recently been opened now too! Co Laois is a very central location in the Republic of Ireland so if travelling further afield is on your to do list, then the cottage is ideally located for daily excursions to many of the main tourist attractions. Previous guests have been to kiss the Blarney stone (Co Cork), see the Cliffs of Mohar and the Burren (Co. Clare), visit Dublin's fair city, visit Glendalough Monastic site (Co. Wicklow) and at a stretch been to see the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim during their visit. It's a little oasis in the heart of Ireland.
  • Staying in this beautiful cottage was a life long dream fulfilled and is my favorite place I've ever stayed in, in the entire world. The cottage well exceeded my expectations, it was like I was living in a real-life fairytale, and I will never forget this as long as I live. I was so sad to leave but enjoyed every second that we spent at this magical property. I hope to one day return in the summer months so that I can take full advantage of the gardens. The grounds and gardens OMG! I had to pinch myself; I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. It started from turning into the long private tree-covered country road that takes you to the cottage's gate that opens onto the most beautiful piece of property you can imagine with this fantastic 400 yr old thatch-roofed cottage. I loved all the little unique spaces in the garden, from the benches to sit upon and soak up all the beauty surrounding you, to the archway inviting you in further to the fairytale garden with more surprises for you to discover while you explore. This property has a variety of fruit trees and berry bushes throughout that you can pick fresh fruit for your morning breakfast if you wish. The cottage it's self was perfection, and I loved every bit of it. It was such a brilliant mixture of old antique original fixtures with updated new modern comforts. So beautifully decorated with just the right amount of decor to maintain the adorable cottage feel without it being overbearing and overcluttered that some will tend to do. I can't recommend this cottage enough, and if you want that authentic Irish experience, then the Hawthorn Cottage is for you! Thank you, Dee, for sharing your exceptional cottage with my son and me. We'll be back!

  • Great location great accommodation and great host. Was such a shame we didnt get to meet Dee though. Had issues with hot water and was fixed immediately which was good. You must visit the local pubs as all the patrons were so friendly and enjoyed our good Aussie banta.... think we have given them a lasting impression of the Aussie way! The local supermarket Centra was also very helpful with our inquiries. Would highly recommend this place for the true Ireland experience. You won't be disappointed.

You need approx. 12 minutes to drive to the town with the car. David helped us with everything we needed. Jack Wright's is tucked away in the corner of a working Alpaca Stud farm with panoramic views of the Slieve Blooms. Most mornings, you can wake up to the 'hum' of our Alpacas as they ramble into view for their morning feed or watch the cria 'pronking' on the horizon of a summers evening... if the Alpacas are not outside your window, they'll be only a stones throw away. This is country living at its best If the dates you're looking aren't available, why not check out our other listing on the farm
The cottage has one large master bedroom, one smaller room with bunk beds and a living area with a sofa bed... All tucked nicely into the one property and positioned perfectly in a quite, secluded corner of the farm
Based on the border between Laois and Offaly, Hushabye Farm is set in the foothills of the Slieve Blooms, Irelands Hidden Gem. With easy access to local amenities like Emo Court, Lough Boora and Birr Castle, the cottage is an ideal base for touring the Midlands.
  • Fantastic place to stay and disconnect from the world for a few days, will definitely be back for a long weekend in the future. Big thank you to Paul for treating us to an Alpaca walk whilst there, it really added to the overall experience.

    Shane2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for peace, quiet and amazing scenery, don't look further. Staying here was (and still is) an amazing experience; the alpacas are beautiful and social and so cute you just want to hug them all the time. Paul and Elizabeth are amazing hosts, that share with you their alpaca knowledge and love; also provide amazing tips for walks and sight seeing. One of the places I've been twice and will keep returning every so often. All the best for Hushabye farm!! :)

    Pedro2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the weekend at Jack Wrights cottage during storm Ciara. Communication with Paul was great and we had a fantastic view on the mountains and got to see the alpacas really close. Would recommend.

  • What an amazing little farm. Waking up to alpacas a few feet away from us was such an experience! Such a lovely little house with everything you could need for a little escape weekend. Amazing touch meeting Paul on the farm and taking one of the alpacas for a walk.. could not recommend Jack Wrights enough!! Thank you both

    Emma2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely lovely place to stay!! The alpacas are adorable and there are so many to love! The place was an adorable little house, but it had everything you’d need. On a side note, my husband especially was raving about the shower, saying it was the perfect temp and pressure! We recommend to everyone and anyone. We will definitely come back!
