“You cannot leave Connemara without a visit to Kylemore Abbey. The beautiful walled garden is the place to wander around and after visit the Tea House here for a relaxing chat and cuppa. Kylemore Abbey was originally built as a Castle in 1867. You can visit the restored rooms of the Abbey and Gothic Church. The scenery here is wonderful, so dont forget your camera. There is also a very nice restaurant and coffee shop on the grounds - the apple pie and cream is delicious. This is a very popular tourist attraction, so booking in advance is advised”

“Kylemore Abbey is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1920 on the grounds of Kylemore Castle, in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. The abbey was founded for Benedictine Nuns who fled Belgium in World War I. The abbey has beautiful and historic walled gardens and glasshouses, and is well worth a visit.”
