Beautifully located in the bluffs, just north of town, and near many tourist attractions including: the Great River Road Trail (and Wine Trail), shopping, dinning and more.
    Quiet escape with beautiful scenery.
While we don't have many neighbors, we try our best to respect their privacy. For this reason we ask that you do not drive further down Kennebec Rd as it becomes a private drive and we don't want to disturb the neighbors!
  • A great location and cozy cabin. There was nothing else we could have asked for. It is such a beautiful area. Recommended!

  • Beautiful area, very clean home. Great communication and ideas for things to do in the area! Recommended stay!

  • Tim & Stephanie’s cabin and outdoor area was very well kept and beautiful. It was super clean and had all the basics we needed for our 2 night stay. They even left our the little grill we asked about and some firewood for the outdoor fireplace. It’s definitely a home away from home. They also provided us with amazing wi-fi which was great because our cell phone reception was patchy.

    Mayra2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean space in a gorgeous location. It's the perfect spot for exploring the river road. Hosts are prompt in their reply to any questions or needs you may have. Would stay there again.

    Stacy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little get away spot! If you are looking for a central location to explore all that the great river road has to offer, this is the perfect place. It is secluded, the stars are incredible, it has a propane and wood fire pit, lots of dishes to cook with and is perfect for a couple or small group of friends/family to call home for a few days. From Tim and Stephanie's house, we were able to explore Fountain City, many wineries and breweries, Winona, Alma, Perrot State Park (Brady's Bluff hike is incredible), fishing and canoe rentals at Merrick State Park, Suncrest Pizza Farm is a must and more! They also had apple trees on the property we were allowed to pick and eat, a great view down the way from the house and a really cool drive with lots of bluffs. They were very responsive and accommodating. They live on the property but were very good about giving us space and privacy, but also very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

Private room in the space above Tansy's on Main. The main level is a small retail area, and coffee shop. This room is a bit closer to the front of the house, so there may be a bit more train noise, but it connects to the front room, which overlooks the Mississippi River. There is a workspace on the main level with WIFI, comfy chairs and a printer. The coffee is always on..... Your room comes with breakfast, and if you would like, join me for meditation and yoga in the morning (Thurs-Sunday).
Simple room, with a comfy bed! A fresh farm-to-table breakfast comes with your room!! Other meals, including lunches and dinners are available by special order so, please let me know when you book! We also have space on the main level for a family gathering or meetings!
We are right on the main street with many shops in the area!! The hiking trail to Buena Vista is right out the door. If you need help with bike routes, let us know! We would love to have you join us for your visit of the Great River Road area.

Completely renovated, now with A/C! Mississippi River views from every room in the house. You can even lay in bed in either bedroom and see the river! We are from the Florida Keys, where locals are known as Conchs (pronounced "konks"), so we named this beach-themed cottage the Conch House. Love the Conch House, but need more space? We also have a 3 bedroom next door, affectionately known as True North. Book both for larger groups.
We took this adorable 100 year old house down to the studs. Everything is brand new and super clean. It's quaint and modern all at the same time. And, oh, the views! Bring your binoculars! Other features include: - New kitchen - Refinished original hardwood floors - Brand new memory foam mattresses - Brand new sleep sofa - Huge, luxurious, walk-in master shower - Heated floors in master bath - Marble-topped vanity in master bath - All new fixtures in guest bath as well - Ceiling fans throughout - All new windows and doors - Enclosed front porch with 180 degree views of the Mississippi River and the bluffs - Side deck with grill, table & chairs, firepit and, you guessed it, more amazing views! - Boat ramp 1/4 mile away
When it comes to things to do in and near Minneiska, it's an embarrassment of riches. We are halfway between the quaint river towns of Wabasha and Winona (15 min from each). Wabasha is where Grumpy Old Men was filmed and is home to the National Eagle Center. Winona features the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Pickwick Historic Mill, and the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. We are also 30 - 45 minutes from the charming towns of Lake City, Red Wing, Stockholm, Fountain City (home of the Mississippi Thunder Speedway), and other historic river towns. You will never run out of opportunities for dining and shopping, not to mention the art galleries, antique shops, and museums. Enjoy hiking and bird-watching at nearby parks, including the John Latsch State Park, Great River Bluffs State Park, and Sugarloaf, to name just a few. Minneiska is perfectly situated for hunting and for year-round fishing, with a boat ramp just a quarter mile away. There are also several nearby golf courses to choose from. We are right in the middle of the Great River Road Wine Trail, amidst 11 great wineries. There are three wine festivals a year (Spring, Summer, and Fall). You can even help with the harvest and then partake of a gourmet picnic among the vines! The Coffee Mill Ski Resort is 20 minutes north, and we are surrounded by snowmobile trails with spectacular river and bluff views. The bird-watching from the front porch is unrivaled - geese, tundra swans, bald eagles, white pelicans, sandhill cranes, and so many more. They're all at your doorstep. We are right next door to the shop of an amazing wood carver, Harvey Langseth. Check out his beautiful work. Last, but not least, we are 2 minutes from Buck's Bar & Grill and the Eagle View Bar and Grill - both great, convenient options for awesome food, service, and views!
  • Great views! Very relaxing time.

  • This house is a little slice of coastal heaven right on the Mississippi river

    Vinay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Conch House was a fantastic place to stay at. From cleanliness to comfort, the entire house was exactly what we were looking for. Joy & Mike we’re in touch if they were ever needed and also were available if we were looking for recommendations around the area. The King bed was so comfy that if we didn’t have other plans I could have stayed in bed all day. The Conch House is just a hop away from Winona where we enjoyed food and drink and several state parks that were awesome for hiking. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with all the things you need for a home base, I would recommend this Airbnb!

    Sterling2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Joy was always quick to respond and her answers were professional and detailed. She is both a flexible and understanding host. The expansive river views were pleasant. The Florida decorations inside made us forget about the cold outside. All in all a lovely stay.

    Idelle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet clean lovely place to relax and watch the eagles from the front porch. Food and museums just quick drive from house. Wonderful scenery! We will be back in fall to check out autumn leaves and eagles again!

    Judy2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Conch House. This is by far the best Airbnb I have stayed at. It was sparkling clean with comfy beds and pillows. It had a very functional and well stocked kitchen and the views were great. A wonderful pre-holiday getaway to relax. Thank you Joy & Mike!

    Lesley2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • It definitively lived up to the reviews! I bundled up every morning with my coffee and sat in the 3 season porch to watch the sunrise, eagles flying by, trains and barges. The woodcarver next door is great..ask about his famous Guinness Book of Records holder great grandfather. Along with all of the other recommendations I would highly recommend a drive into Winona and visit the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, they have Picasso's, Monet's, Whistler, O'Keefe, Renoir, just to name a few famous artists in this really really great museum right on the river.A steal at $7

    Angela2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy place that was spotless! Beds were comfy, towels were soft and the master shower was amazing! Loved the heated floor in there too. Was happy to find coffee, bottled water and a few other odds and ends on hand. Location was great to walk up to Bucks bar and have dinner/drinks and play some pool. We also enjoyed the outdoor fire pit (made s'mores) on the back porch. Thanks for allowing us to relax at your place :)

  • My sisters and I stayed at Joy and Mike's place for a weekend Mommycation. Their place was perfect for us! The house was charming and very clean. The sunrise over the Mississippi river was so beautiful and peaceful each morning. We enjoyed watching Bald Eagles soaring over the river as well. There were great local recommendations for food, wine, and entertainment in the guestbook, but the house was so cozy with such a beautiful view that we never ventured out. They have a very spacious kitchen and we enjoyed making our meals in. We will definitely be back!

  • We’ve stayed here for our last two annual hunting trips and this place works perfect for us. Plenty of room for everyone, great view of the river, and Joy is always very helpful and quick to respond to any questions.

    Taylor2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • 5 of my sisters and I chose this lovely spot as a halfway meeting point between our homes in Wisconsin and Minnesota to spend time together. There was enough room in the spacious kitchen for all of us to prepare our meals. The windowed front porch was our favorite spot to be with such a beautiful view of the river, especially sipping morning coffee while watching the sun rise. The master wood carver, 2 doors down, welcomed us in to learn about his craft and some wonderful local folklore. That was a treat! We’re planning our next gathering and will return.

    Marti2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and spacious. Joy and mike are great hosts and quick to respond if you have any questions. Will defiantly be back.

  • Really nice place. The furnishings are eclectic and rustic. The beds and sheets were really comfortable. There are trains that go by and they are loud but you get used to it. And it’s really clean. Several good food options within 2 blocks, the winery is a mile up the hill and you can walk home from 3 different bars. Great visit. Will return.

  • Loved staying here, my friend and I had a great time, and were both super comfortable. The place is extra sparkling clean. It has a cozy warm energy, and I loved listening to the radio everyday. There is a deck and porch but we didn't use much because it was colder when we went. The place is in the perfect spot in town. Its close to Pier 4 which is a great little breakfast spot! Try the cinnamon rolls!!

  • I would recommend this locations.

  • These little cabins are surrounded with beautiful scenic roads! Very clean, great host! Especially perfect for a motorcycle gang to stay for a night or two!

    Joe2018-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend away from the city! We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and laid back lifestyle!

    Emily2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, thank you! It was a great stop on a weekend road trip and got to eat good food just a few steps away.

    Ashley2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beautiful and clean. The surroundings were nice and there is a softball field and playground but beyond that, unless you are a hunter (or love fishing) you will need to drive at least 15-20 min to the closest attraction (a winery!) or bigger town (Alma and Winona). Also, just a note about the General Store nearby: it's closed on Sunday and may close before the scheduled time on the other days (like happened to us). Also, the Waumandee House Restaurant is closed on Monday. So unless you bring your own food (make sure you ask for a fridge to be provided in your cabin) the food options on site may be limited at times. If you plan to make a fire in the communal fire pit, make sure you bring your own wood, as there is only some provided on site.

  • Great retreat in the heart of town. Wonderful outdoor deck, and near all the cute shops, the theater, bakery, a great breakfast spot and Italian restaurant with pizza that’s out of this world

    Damian2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Earplugs were used and we slept good!

    Deborah2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute space!

    Kathy2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED staying in Diana's three bedroom apartment! I went with a few girlfriends and we spent half of our time hanging out on the deck. The only negative would be the train but we felt like it didn't run too late then started out going the opposite way in the morning so didn't really bother us unless we were on the deck. We liked the downtown location and right across from the lock and damn we saw boats and barges coming and going. There was a Swiss festival downtown which was neat to check out. We had a great afternoon checking out Beuna Vista Park, going to the winery for a tasting, and then going to a farm for dinner! Suncrest Gardens was the place we went. We went around 7:30pm and the drive was gorgeous! I would highly recommend checking this out even if you just want pick your own flower bouquet or show your kids the animals. We will be booking again!

    Nicole2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Space is perfect for a weekend stay. The beds were also very comfortable. Hostess was very responsive and we felt we didn't have to do much in way of maintenance or check out.

    Kylie2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Dam Good Inn has a dam good view! This is a great place to stay. The town is small and everyone is friendly!

    Marina2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you’ve ever travelled to Alma, you know there are very few options for lodging. For this reason, I was excited to find Diana’s place. The location is simply unbeatable! Located directly across from the dam, the apartment is a short walk from everything in town. Stroll down the street to the Alma Hotel for a cheap but 5-star breakfast. Or browse the many art shops and local stores for souvenirs. The apartment was adequately furnished and sparkling clean. Lots of room to spend time with friends or family. If you find yourself spending any amount of time in Alma, do yourself a favor and stay at Diana’s place!

    Stephen2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really cool! It has an awesome deck with a great view of the river and the lock and dam. The train noise wasn't a big deal. Wi-Fi was available.

    Betty2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place! It's across the street from the Mississippi River and has a view of the river from the bedroom sitting area. It's an old home, which comes with character, charm and older features that you have to enjoy if you want to stay here. You can hear the frequent trains as mentioned in the listing, but ear plugs are provided. The bathroom doesn't have quite the same charm, but the rest of the space is wonderful. Katherine was kind, hospitable and makes a great breakfast. The muffins were fantastic!

    Cindy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine’s place was amazing, great location, beautiful topography, walking distance to town. 10/10, will stay again.

    Marek2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine's place was lovely. Alma is a quaint little town. I traveled with my husband and 1.5 year old and was happy to find a family friendly bed and breakfast. Katherine made us all feel welcome. If you are here on a weekend in the summer and are able to check out a near by Pizza Farm (we went to Suncrest Gardens)- I highly recommend it! If we make it back this direction (which I hope we will) I would absolutely stay at the Blue Door Inn Cottage again.

    Natalie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home on the corner of this cute town! The bed was extremely comfortable. We were there for a wedding, so didn’t spend too much time at the place... but left wishing we could have! Absolutely wonderful!

  • This is a beautiful bed and breakfast in an older home that has been renovated with obvious love and skill. There is a pool table and a beautiful and comfortable living room for lounging. The kitchen is spacious and inviting and the owner, Johnny, and his wife cooked me a great made-to-order omelet. I will definitely be back!

  • The Tritsch House Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful old house, with lovely woodwork, stained glass, and views of the river, especially from the second floor balcony. Each room is unique and lovely, and guests have access to the living room, including pool table, dining room, and porches. The hospitality was wonderful, and included a full breakfast and lots of information about the local area. We also had a TV in our room. I can't say good enough things about this particular B&B -- a great place!!!

Two houses next door to each other, perfect for large groups! True North has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the third bedroom has a double bed. The Conch House has 2 bedrooms (one with a king bed and one with a queen bed), 2 baths, and a queen sleep sofa. Together, the two houses can sleep up to 12, however, the sleep sofa is probably best for kids or 1 adult.
The Conch House: We took this adorable 100 year old house down to the studs. Everything is brand new and super clean. It's quaint and modern all at the same time. And, oh, the views! Bring your binoculars! Other features include: - New kitchen - Refinished original hardwood floors - Brand new memory foam mattresses - Brand new queen sleep sofa - Huge, luxurious, walk-in master shower - Heated floors in master bath - Marble-topped vanity in master bath - All new fixtures in guest bath as well - Ceiling fans throughout - All new windows and doors - Enclosed front porch with 180 degree views of the Mississippi River and the bluffs - Side deck with grill, table & chairs, firepit and, you guessed it, more amazing views! - Master bedroom with king bed and en suite bath - Guest room with queen bed and adjacent bath - Boat ramp 1/4 mile away True North: This is a large house with lots of room to spread out and views you have to see to believe. There is one bedroom and one bath on the main level, and two more bedrooms upstairs. - Completely enclosed 4-season front porch with amazing views of the river and the bluffs - The entire home has just been redecorated with refinished original hardwood floors, fresh paint, new bedding and towels, etc. - Open plan living room/dining room - Huge kitchen - All new windows and doors - Central air and heat - Side patio with fire pit, grill, seating (more fabulous views) - One bedroom (queen bed) and one bath downstairs. Two bedrooms upstairs with a queen and a double bed.
  • Fun place with lots of space for large gatherings or multi families.

    Heather2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We only got to spend a few days at True North and the Conch House as it was a quick trip. We will absolutely look to stay here again the next time we visit! We were traveling with my sister-in-law and kids and it was nice to have our separate spaces. The Conch House looks newly renovated and the master bath shower was fantastic! Nice to have a smart TV and some games to relax in the evening. Morning coffee on the porch was nice watching the boats and barges. Overall loved our stay!

  • Very clean, great communication from owners

    Jenny2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at both houses and they were amazing. The town is a little bit off the beaten path but the views are directly over The Mississippi River. Great place to stay we highly recommend it there were eight of us and we fit perfectly.

    Marc2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Truly enjoyed staying at true north and the conch house. Both homes were clean and had everything we needed. Sitting around the fire pits overlooking the Mississippi River and staring at the stars was a joy.

    David2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Joy and Mike had the perfect place for our NYE weekend! We comfortably slept 10 people between the two houses. Our group was able to migrate from house to house all weekend. Plenty of room to cook and socialize. It was great! We also walked down to Buck’s (a local tavern) and ended up spending a few hours there! The view from this AirBNB is fantastic and it was very easy to find. Highly recommended! Thanks so much, Joy and Mike!

  • This place was so charming and so BIG! We didn't realize from the pictures how spacious it was, but it was just fabulous. Huge kitchen and living room and all 3 bedrooms are good sized too. Tons of cute touches - lovely rugs, furniture, decorations, etc. The little entryway to the apartment is also great. Wonderful location on the main street of Alma. It's a little noisy with the trains going through so nearby but they do provide earplugs to help with that. Kathy was easy to communicate with and helped with anything we needed! We would definitely go back!

    Kristen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. Really neat building in a very charming small town on the Mississippi. Check in/check out was a breeze. Many thanks.

    Kyle2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Big River Inn. The space was beautiful, with an incredible view of the Mississippi, and Alma is a lovely, small town with historic buildings, a plethora of scenic staircases, and a nifty little hike up to Buena Vista park, which has (true to its name) an amazing view. Super comfortable, well-appointed space, in a great location. There's a little patio off to the side of the unit that we enjoyed for breakfasts and nightcaps. I should mention too that the AC did some heroic work on an incredibly hot 97 degree day, keeping the space a tick below 70 (and could easily have kept it cooler if we'd so desired). Katherine was a great communicator and really helpful and accommodating host. Highly recommend!

    Nick2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is extremely spacious and stylish. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all that we needed. The bathroom was very clean and large. The check in was very easy. It has a beautiful patio overlooking the Mississippi. I would highly recommend the big river apartment.

    Ashley2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing apartment with gorgeous views! It is super clean and beds were very comfortable. If you are a light sleeper, the train going every hour may keep you up. Although the air conditioning units in the bedroom helped along with the earplugs that were left there for us to use. We loved the space and would definitely go back.

This apartment is in the middle of town on the river side. It is over Wings Over Alma eagle watching and tourist information center. There are 3 restaurants within a few doors of this apartment. Its not upscale like my other listings here but is clearly the bargain if you need the space and want a great river view. I might add that while to show that I have 3 beds I had to add a bedroom, that room is a large living room with both the full bed and the couch.
This apartment is overlooking the river with an ideal view of the boats rising or falling in the lock and dam out the living room window. Ideal eagle watching from inside or from a chair on the small rear deck.
In the middle of town with plenty of parking.
  • Daniel was a great host and was easy to work with. We had a chance to check out his other properties and they were stunning and I would highly recommend staying with him when you are in Alma.

  • The apartment and all other rooms are so cute, my friends and I had an amazing time staying in Alma. Super awesome host!

    Kyra2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel's place was a great space for our family (we have 3 young boys). Our boys loved the trains, and we brought white noise machines for us after we'd read other reviews re: the noise from the trains, so that worked great. We loved the location being right in the downtown area of Alma! The space is accurately described in the listing and we were glad to be in a nice, clean space.

    Paul2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This rental is exactly as pictured; nothing more, nothing less. The apartment is clean and has what you need to make a comfortable visit. If you want to watch TV bring some movies; he has some there to watch. We did not even turn on the TV, we had to much fun enjoying the little town of Alma. Dan is by far one of the best host I have encountered.

    Cheri2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was exactly as described and very clean. The location is awesome. It's right on Main Street and it's easy to walk to everything. There's a train that goes by periodically (even at night) but the sound wasn't too bothersome for our group. Plus the whole town is built right next to the tracks so I'm pretty sure you would hear it anywhere you stay. Daniel was very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The town is so cute with so many little shops and restaurants! I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!

  • What a great place! Hospitality off the charts and the rooms were perfect!

  • So much detail went into the furnishing of the four Suites we rented for our group. Loved having the kitchen/living room space to gather in the evening with our group of 8. Location, right on the main street through Alma, with cozy outdoor seating and easy access to shopping and the river made for a very enjoyable and scenic stay. Our group loved it! Katherine's Quiche, Blueberry muffins & fresh fruit served on beautiful dishes made for an elegant breakfast. Loved the large dining table we shared with another couple. Fit 10 of us comfortably. Historic building has been beautifully made into guest suites.

    Maxine2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This has to be the best BnB that we have stayed in! Very comfortable, beautifully decorated, everything a traveler would want and more! We had our choice of suite and each one was special in its own way! Katherine made us the most fabulous breakfast - all showcasing the local farm to table ingredients. The building has a very interesting past which adds to the charm! If you don't stay here, you have missed out on a very special experience!!

    Mary2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re into historical venues - this place is right up your alley. It’s been completely renovated but Katherine has left all of the historical charm intact. From exposed brick to claw foot tubs it’s straight out of an HGTV show. The outdoor space is beautiful with multiple decks and bonfire pit. It is also a short walk away from amazingly local shops, food, and entertainment. I’ll definitely be back!

    Samantha2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Alma WI is beautiful! Trains pass outside the bed and breakfast at least every hour. The Chippewa River is across the street with a dam to the right and a coal factory down river. The community takes pride in their home as seen by the care of the plants and clean streets. Even the train tracks have flowers growing along the railroad ties. The bed and breakfast suited all our needs with modern country style mixed with antiques. The host Katherine serves an amazing breakfast with foods found locally and the flavors of the fresh fruit and quiche were refreshing and left me wanting more. There is many things to do in this community with local fare, entertainment, education at the creamery, the vineyards, and the locks and dam.

    Mary2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I meet up with our adult children every year, always at a different location. And, even though we enjoy exploring new places, we all agreed we would love to come back to stay at the Blue Door Inn! 5 bedrooms, 5 baths, full kitchen, and a game room. Lots of little nooks and crannies to relax in outside surrounded by beautiful gardens. In addition, we loved the antique furniture, comfortable beds, and fabulous (more than we could possibly eat) breakfast every morning. Kathy even provided all of the fixing for Bloody Mary's with our last breakfast. All of our family members give the Blue Door Inn and Kathy's warm hospitality a thumbs up!

    Kathy2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy is a wonderful hostess - welcoming, kind, knowledgeable about the area and the rich history of the area and the inn itself. The rooms are beautiful and rife with old world charm. She's done an excellent job of restoring and tastefully decorating the inn. We had the unique experience of renting the entire inn, so we saw all of the rooms and each is unique and very comfortable. Not only is Kathy a friendly and gracious hostess, but she goes above and beyond with the included breakfast each day. She is a wonderful cook, and we ate very well every morning. I'm already missing having breakfast waiting for me in the morning! The only slightly bothersome detail are the trains that run through town. If you are a light sleeper, a stay in Alma is NOT for you. This is no fault of Kathy's - it just comes with the territory. The tracks are directly across the street and trains run all night. Kathy does provide free ear plugs, though, and I found that after the first night, the noise didn't bother me so much. Despite this, I would still very highly recommend a stay at the Blue Door Inn - we had a truly delightful stay!

There is a work space on the main level with comfy chairs, wireless internet and a printer you can hook up to. Let me know if you want to add meals to your stay. A farm-to-table breakfast is provided, but lunches and dinners can be prepared as well! Just let me know when you book and I can provide pricing.
This is a simple room with a comfortable bed. No clutter, just calm space...space to throw down your yoga mat or meditate. The hiking trail to Buena Vista is right out the door.
We are located on the main street with shops all around!
  • Jennifer's space had everything I needed. A simple room with a comfortable bed. A common room that overlooked the main Street and the lock and dam. A kitchenette area with fridge, sink and microwave and a full bath. Jennifer communicates well and met me in person the first night. We talked for hours like old friends. Definitely a great Airbnb experience. There are trains close by, which did not bother me but may bother some. I packed earplugs just in case but did not need them the 2 nights I was there. Alma and the surrounding towns are a charming area to spend a couple of days.

This efficiency apartment Suite has two queen size pillow top mattresses with a micro in the full kitchen, a living room seating area and kitchen table with a shower in the fully modern bath. It is fully and finely furnished with cookware and linens. It is more expensive than my hotel rooms with one queen bed and bath but they are not listed here.
The apartment is on the River near all the restaurants and bars in town. Both beds are queen size pillow tops. the Bath is fully up to date with a marble floor and shower. All the dishes and cooking utensils you would want along with linens for 4 guests.
Alma is historic and the views are stunning, whether bluff or river.
  • We loved staying in the Swan room! It was bigger than expected and the French touches were so cute- like the globe lamp and the gorgeous yellow rug! We had all we needed for a romantic dinner in- fully stocked kitchen and dining area. We played cards with other guests we just met at the local bars and the secret garden was a perfect stop before heading out of town. Also- the dvd selections were spot on classics. We would absolutely stay again!

    Carissa2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location in historic Alma. Suite is beautifully decorated with everything you need!

    Jena2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated Daniel brings old world decor to an immaculate space. There are plenty of pots, pans, and dishes to make a nice meal and serve at the beautiful table. There is not a local grocery so buy as you leave your town. A spaghetti dinner complemented by wine from Danzinger’s winery and vineyard would be perfect for this spot. It’s a winery up the hill in town. The local food is fine but there is no Italian offered in town and this space screams “EAT FRENCH FOOD!” Bring outdoor chairs so you can sit and people watch in the front or watch boats and barges lock in at the dam in the back. We will be back!

This two story apartment in a cape cod colonial is on the river over lock and dam 4 and the RR tacks through town. I has a deluxe bathroom, an open staircase, full kitchen, with eating area and seating area on the Main Floor. The bedrooms have AC.
This is one of two rental apartments in town that is on the Mississippi River overlooking the lock and dam number four. The train noise is livable and the building is very well insulated however you will hear trains now and again day and night here and at any place on this side of the River and below the crest of the bluff 500 feet above.
  • Great spot!

  • Dan was very helpful, and the apartment was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our short stay, and we loved being close to the river and spending the morning watching the eagles and fishermen from the kitchen table. The trains were noisy, but that's part of the package when staying so close to the river. (Dan did generously provide earplugs.)

    Emily2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb experience and Daniel, and the cottage were a delight. He was very flexible on our arrival time. When we got there he came over to introduce himself and talk to us about the place. It is obvious that Dan loves his village and the area. He was most helpful in providing information and history about the area and the buildings in town. He provided great ideas for places to go and eat. We were there only one night , but we enjoyed the experience very much. The cottage is very nice, clean, and decorated very tastefully. We had three in our group and it was perfect. And it was a delight talking to Daniel about our stay and travels. Highly recommend both Daniel as a host and the cottage and town for a stay. Great experience.

  • Falcon Cottage was super cozy and charming! We were very comfortable there. Had everything we needed. Lovely gardens that we wish we had more time to take in. Alma has an amazing art scene with numerous galleries and shops all right within a couple blocks of the cottage. The character of the place is a standout in the area. Don't miss checking out Buena Vista Park for a stunning view of the valley.

    Mike2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Falcon Cottage is such a great little spot in downtown Alma. The location is very convenient to walk all over town and right across from the Lock and Dam observation deck. The amenities are fairly basic, but we had everything we needed. There is not a lot of privacy between the sleeping areas but again, this was not an issue for our group. There isn’t really a sitting space other than the kitchen table but we just used the patio right off the house when we were hanging at the house. We were concerned that the listing says no AC but there are two window units that do the job really well for the small space!

    Amanda2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Right on the Main Street of Alma. Cute stores along the street. We enjoyed our stay!

  • Three of us stayed at the cottage for a beautiful Fall weekend. The location was a perfect mix between small town charm and beautiful countryside. We went to a few wineries and ate at great local restaurants in the area. The cottage was very charming and comfortable. Daniel was a wonderful and responsive host. We will definatley return!

    Donna2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Falcon cottage is centrally located in town and right on the main street which made for great access to all the shops, bars and restaurants. Its also right by the train tracks, which other guests mentioned. The entire town is pretty much on the train tracks so if you don't like the noise of the train, Alma is not a town for you. We enjoyed watching the trains go by and got used to the sound after a couple of hours. The house is directly across the street from the Police/Fire Dept/Library which unfortunately blocks the view of the river from the kitchen but there is a beautiful garden in the back with lovely views. We just went up in the garden for happy hour even though the weather was cool and damp. Still a nice little paradise. The kitchen has everything you could want to cook meals in (if you don't want to venture to the many bars/restaurants in the area). The beds are super comfy and the heat works great really making for a cozy cottage. Alma and the Falcon Cottage are great for a peaceful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Debbie2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Falcon Cottage was very comfortable for our group of 5. The deck, view of the river & easy accept everything in town made it perfect for us. We highly recommend the bakery for breakfast treats!
