Vacation Rentals in Claremont

Just booked in Claremont

The Yurt In The Woods is 30 ft in diameter which offers 700 spacious sq. ft. It's surrounded by trees. The yurt has pure spring water coming from the tap. A two night stay is required for all weekends. During the months of August and October, I require a minimal of two nights.
A long driveway in the woods leads you to a secluded yurt. The yurt offers an unique lodging experience with modern amenities. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range/stove and all necessary cooking utensils. It has a full size refrigerator, deep sink, Bosch dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker and complete cooking and dining equipment. The living space is decorated tastefully with an extra comfortable queen size futon(not your ordinary mattress). The bedroom space has a new memory foam queen size mattress(10/16) that is well appointed with cotton sheets for your sleeping comfort. The bathroom has standard porcelain fixtures, as well as, a charming claw foot bathtub that has a shower. Cozy soft cotton towels wait on a shelf for your use. The bathroom has a big closet and dresser for storing your belongings. The yurt is heated by a woodstove. There will be firewood in the yurt for your use and instructions of where to find cut and dry firewood for your use in the woodstove. And, a Rinnai thermostat controlled heater lets you sleep through the night without having to get up to feed the woodstove. There is no Wi-Fi and most people have no cell phone service. During the months of August and October there is a minimum of a two night stay requested. The yurt is just steps from the Hartland Winter Trail system – cross-country skiing and/or snowshoeing, as well as, hiking. The fauna and flora of Vermont are plentiful around the yurt. In the winter, you will hear the hooting of owls. In the spring, you will hear the songs of the spring peepers. In the summer, you hear the beautiful melodies of the birds. In the fall, you’ll enjoy the magnificent colors of the deciduous trees and the display of mushrooms along the trails. Location: It is located 8 minutes from I-91. A short drive of 30 minutes on I-91 N gets you to Dartmouth College. Woodstock, Vermont is only 15 minutes away where Suicide Six Ski Resort and the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is located. Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee, Vermont is only 15 minutes away. Killington and Okemo ski areas are located 45 minutes away. Alpine Ski Areas: •Quechee Lakes – 15 minutes away •Suicide Six – 20 minutes away •Whaleback Mountain is 31 minutes away •Killington, Pico and Okemo are located 45 minutes away. •Stowe is 1 hour 28 minutes away •Dartmouth Skiway 50 minutes away Nordic Skiing: •Right out the yurt door are amazing groomed double tracked and snowshoe trails with varying degrees of difficulty. You may find trail maps at Hartland Winter Trails - (website hidden) •Quechee Lakes - 15 minutes (flat terrain - groomed) •Woodstock Resort - 15 minutes Nordic Ski Rentals available at Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms: (website hidden) Restaurants: The Skunk Hollow Tavern is 2 miles from the yurt. Wednesday nights you’ll find locals and out of towner’s on the stage for open mic. Friday nights brings amazing bands ranging from blues, jazz, bluegrass, rock, to Cuban music. The Harpoon Brewery is located about 10 minutes away where you can get a great burger/sandwich and a fresh micro-brew. The Windsor Station is 15 minutes away and is a good option for family dining at a historic train station. Last, but one of our favorites is only 15 minutes away - The Worthy Kitchen which hosts many local foods and craft beers from all over the US.
I love the peaceful solitude, as well as, the bird songs, the coyote calls at night, the hooting owls and the spring peeper's choruses.
  • Another lovely stay. Thank you so much!

  • I loved the privacy & cleanliness of this place. A great choice for a couple or family looking for the comforts of home! This was our first experience using Air B&B as well as staying in a yurt. We were looking to stay nearby at The Mansion which was about to change ownership & the old owner recommended this to us. We had a great experience here & the owner has really thought of everything. You have a lot of privacy with the owners being the closest with a half an acre of woods in between. Everything was very clean & little helpful notes around whether it was explaining the composting they do to how to use the wood furnace.

  • We had a great time at the Yurt. We enjoyed being close to the nature. We didn't know what to expect from the chilly nights but the Yurt proved that it could handle any weather condition.

    Kiril2015-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Yurt in the Woods was magical in every way. Angela is a wonderful host, and the yurt is a beautiful reflection of her warmth. It was a spiritual experience. A few random bonuses: They compost, the bed is so comfortable, and there is a basket of warm socks for your feet in the morning. The bathtub is a claw foot, and the wood-burning stove kept us cozy at night. I even loved the coffee grinder she keeps in the kitchen — it's a beautiful, wooden and manual and it's so cute. We can't wait to return! Bonnie

  • We had such a wonderful time here. It was a deeply relaxing escape from our busy lives and so nice to spend a few days enjoying the woods. The yurt was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. The tub is amazing, the bed was so comfortable, and the wood stove kept us warm at night. I appreciated Angela's thoughtfulness, which came through in all of our communication with her before and during our stay. She was very welcoming and enthusiastic when I told her that we'd be traveling with our six month old baby. We are hoping to return for another stay soon.

    Jean2014-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • There is something different about yurts. If you've never experienced it, or even if you have, I can't recommend this magical place enough. The wood stove was roaring when I arrived, and the whole place has such an air of a sanctuary. A rare and whimsical experience. A beautiful location, a wonderful host.

    Jesse2013-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was very responsive any time I had a question via email, and her husband only popped by to say hello and see if we needed anything. The yurt was super cute and cozy. It had everything we needed - full kitchen, bathroom, three beds. The bedroom space is not a separate bedroom (which I didn't realize) -- it's more of a semi-private area. We were fine though. The house was super cozy, gorgeous, and we were encouraged to pick any of the herbs/plants from the garden in front of the yurt. There were even hula hoops. I loved it and would love to stay there again next year before my race!

  • I had the amazing opportunity to stay at Doug and Linda's wonderful home. The property is located in a very quiet and calm area with fantastic views of one of the best hang gliding hills in the USA. Doug and Linda were great hosts who provided us with everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend this property for anyone interested in getting away from the city in order to enjoy some peace and quiet.

    Vickie2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a wonderful time in the USA and big part of they wonderful stay was due to the amazing house and hospitality offers by Linda and Doug. Thank you so much for everything. Can’t wait for my family to come back to visit me and they can stay at your house again.

    David2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Doug could not have been more gracious. Informative without being invasive. Our first AirBNB experience and will definitely use again. Next time plan to take advantage of the hang gliding just across the road. House was very clean and comfortable.

  • Let me start by saying this was my first AirBnB experience. That said, my next one will have huge expectations to even come close to Morningside. The owners have thought of everything and left you wanting for nothing. The home is centrally located for many activities in the area. Expect a 20-45 min drive for most activities. We stayed here for a long weekend of skiing at Okemo. We had a 40 min drive but didn't seem like it at all, in other words, it wasn't too bad a drive. We got so much more in space and amenities for far less cost. We had six people, our family of four (two kids ages 6 and 7), and another couple. The layout was perfect to give everyone enough space and privacy. The place is spotless. The house is a combination of old country New England charm, with modern amenities (washer/dryer, dishwasher, flat screen TV, wifi, etc..). The house is stocked with everything you could ever need, including spices, coffee, condiments, and fresh dairy items. The bathrooms are fully stocked with super plush towels, and even character ones for the kids (my girls went nuts for the princess towels!) The beds were comfortable with super soft sheets. The owners live next door and were delightful and eager to make recommendations for places to eat, things to do, and just as nice as can be. We would recommend Morningside for your next family trip to the area. We would stay here again when in the area.

    Lori2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay (3 adult family members) at Morningside was exactly as advertised. The greeting at arrival by Linda and Doug to take us through the house was great and informative along with the mid check in with us for any issues -- of which there were none. I highly recommend this AirBnB for family stays. The price makes this location much more attractive then a hotel. I hope to have the opportunity to stay again in the future before the house is rented all the time and I'm not able to rent again.

    Nancy2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Morningside was nothing short of perfect. Linda & Doug make sure to welcome you and provide you with friendly guides for pretty much anything you can have a question about during your stay. The house is very spacious and has plenty of beds for a large family. The house also came stocked with many things you might need during your stay like fresh eggs, coffee, various breakfast items, plenty of towels, toiletries and much more.I would definitely recommend this Airbnb to everyone.

    Mbom2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Doug are super nice host and I would highly recommend this place to my friends. They are at the gate to greet you and show you around the place when you check in, very informative and helpful. They even have their own HTML to recommend where are the good places to eat, to do sightseeing and to do grocery shopping. They were so nice to do the pre-check of greyhound station for us and helped to print out the tickets. They prepared fresh eggs, bread, jam, snacks and even a big pizza for us. The place itself is clean and the beds are super comfortable. We will definitely stay in their place again if we have the chance to do skiing or paragliding in Claremont.

Stunning in all seasons, this is the perfect place to escape the hustle of life. Water views from all rooms inside; outside, a covered patio space, and stone walk down to the river. A great location for couples, photographers, writers, business travelers, nature lovers. Easy access to I-91. Bicycles, Kayaks, SUP board and pedal boat provided.
While this space is perfect for anyone who wants a get-away--a place to relax, meditate, go fishing, write, listen to birds or the chance to see a bald eagle--the unique attraction and outstanding quality here is the river. There is a gentle walk-down path to an outdoor fireplace and to the water from your patio. Inside is a studio-style main room. The kitchen area has a full-size refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, hot plates, pots/pans/dishes, toaster, and convection oven. Pantry and fridge are stocked with all the basics and much more. A multi-purpose table with two chairs allows you to eat inside and watch the river, or use it as a work space/desk. View tv or the flicker of flames from an electric fireplace from the couch. The smart HDTV is a 43" flat screen with Roku, netflix, DVD player. DVDs, games, books, and puzzles available. The bedroom has a view of the river, too, a queen-sized bed, ample closet/hanging space. For additional sleeping in the main room, there's a chaise style couch (31x71) that converts to a twin-sized bed. A self-inflating twin mattress can be used for a fourth person. The bathroom includes a tiled rain shower. Around the corner is a washer and dryer, iron and ironing board. Radiant floor heating through-out the apartment, and it stays nice and cool in the summers. Bedroom is air-conditioned in the summer. Modern ventilation system throughout home keeps air clean and fresh.
The Odyssey is on state-maintained route 5, Connecticut River Road, which is home to several small organic vegetable farms and farm stands, a few dairy cows, maple syrup producers, a Christmas tree farm, and mostly year-round inhabitants. This 10-mile stretch of road connects the towns of Windsor, Weathersfield, and Springfield. Within 10 minutes is a small grocery store, several local restaurants, bike trails, hiking opportunities at Mount Ascutney. Okemo, Dartmouth/Hanover/Norwich are 35 minutes away.
  • Very good host! Amazing view and house. We really enjoyed the pedal boat.

    Ignacio2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about how great Liz and the Odyssey house are! I came with my boyfriend and our pup for a quick weekend getaway and found all of the comforts of home here, including a stocked kitchen, Super comfy bed, board games, movies, sunscreen, bug spray, fire starters (for the firepit) - you name it, they thought of it. We were lucky to have perfect summer weather but if we had been stuck inside due to rain we still would have had a great time cozying up to the electric fireplace and taking advantage of the very well stocked bookcase. Really everything we could have wanted or needed was provided, including an incredibly detailed guidebook with instructions on how to work everything and suggestions on things to do in the area. All of the amenities and features for the River Odyssey have been listed accurately in other reviews and the general listing, so all I can really expand upon is how welcomed and comfortable we felt all weekend. It can be tough to know what to expect when staying in someone else's home, especially when it's their primary residence and they're generally present during your stay. I definitely recommend putting aside any hesitation with regard to host interaction, whether you like chatting with the owners or prefer to have a more private stay. Liz and her partner are expert communicators all-around, and that includes taking cues from guests. Finally, after doing a charger sweep and trying really hard to not be those people who leave their things behind, I realized I left a necklace behind. I texted Liz right away and got an immediate response - my necklace is in the mail and I could not be more grateful. I've already recommended River Odyssey to a friend and hope to come back again soon!

    Sarah2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Leslie were welcoming, available, and unobtrusive. The apartment is comfortable and has all the little things one might need. I slept like a log in a comfy bed with only the soft sounds of nature to lull me to dreamland. The river is a stones throw from the patio. Just lovely. I know I'll go again.

    Keiko2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodations, awesome hosts, beautiful property on the river! Brought the pups, 3yr old Dobe & 13yr old English Bulldog. They had a great time as well. Easy to find. Close to town should you need any supplies/food or just want to take in the scenery/culture. Will definitely go back if they don't mind Max(energetic Dobe) running around ALL DAY Thank you ladies, from all of us!

    Lenny2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Liz's place was even more charming and welcoming than it looked! There was some nice food and drink in the fridge after our long trip, The bed was comfy, wi fi, tv (Netflix and Hulu too!) great shower, laundry. And the view of the river : magnificent! Liz herself could not have been more friendly and communicative. She even sent us on our way with tasty quiche muffins! A+. Highly recommend!

    Nick2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I and our dog spent a week at Liz's beautiful place. We had a "working" week which meant we worked remotely from the porch, watching the river in all her moods, and took little trips around the area for hiking and adventure breaks. Liz is a fabulous host, and she made sure we were settled in, with lots of kitchen basics and a jar of seeds to entice her chipmunks. We had a great time, and would go back in a heartbeat!

    Corinne2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Liz's place is absolutely beautiful. You have a gorgeous view of the river at all times, she is so accommodating and keeps the place immaculate. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in VT near mountains or in the summer to enjoy the river.

Getaway for families, couples or groups. Newly renov. Apt. in our Barn. Full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave, big fridge and ice maker, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, Dining/Living room with TV ( Antenna). Fields, forest, hill and river on our property.
200 year old Vegetable Farm on the River. Apt. in barn is newly renovated. Barn outside renovation still in progress ( no work while you stay). Other Apt in the barn is rented to a permanent tenant.
We are in a very rural area. Shops and restaurants are about 7 miles away from us. We are directly on Route 5, which runs parallel to Interstate 91 , which we do not hear or see, but has most of the traffic, so Route 5 is usually only used by the people who live there (only if the Interstate is closed we have a little more traffic one or 2 times a year). The benefit of being directly on Route 5 is, that it is plowed early and regularly and you do not have the problems of getting stuck in snow or mud that a dirt road often has.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Ina and Richard's from start to finish - a lovely pastoral retreat. Both are so friendly and accommodating and we will definitely be repeat renters. Ina had a slew of breakfast foods already stashed in the fridge upon our arrival - so thoughtful - and our hosts bade us farewell with heirloom tomato plants! We loved the picnic area, the view from the back deck, the nicely decorated kitchen and family room, the family games, etc. - the clean and comfortable surroundings and top notch hospitality made for an all around wonderful weekend! Thanks so much, Ina and Richard - we very much enjoyed you two and your lovely property and we will be back!!!

    Darci2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give them 6 stars I would. Ina and Richard are just two of the very best hosts you could have. They were very flexible with our check in and check out time to accomodate our long travel to and from NYC. Very quiet and very comfortable cabin in the woods type of feel. Came for a snowboarding weekend getaway with some friends at okemo and could not have had a better experience.

    Thomas2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really spacious and clean. Amazing views! Ina is a very welcoming and kind host. We were a little put off by some cigarette odor from an adjacent part of the property but other than that, it's a total score for any group or family wishing to experience rural Vermont and nearby skiing.

    Kate2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Scenic spot on farmland....away from the hustle and bustle...loved it!

    Bridgette2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ina & Richard's place was simply awesome! We had 6 people skied at Vermont and stayed at Ina's house, and you could not image how surprised we were when we saw this beautiful place. After a whole day of struggling on the mountain, nothing could easy the pain and tiredness better than a warm, cozy home like Ina's. Plenty of space, well-equipped, clean, comfortable, absolute privacy. Ina hosted us, she was a wonderful host, you could feel the welcomeness from every small things in the house. All my friends were happy, we had an incredible weekend, and Ina's place took a large portion of the credit. I will defiantly recommend to my friends!

    Likai2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Ina and Richie were lovely. The baby food and dog bones were particularly nice thoughts. The fridge had a few things we might need (milk for the coffee!), the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was very clean. We had a lovely stay, and will definitely be back the next time we visit the area!

    Roza2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Ina and Richard was great! They made us feel most welcome upon our arrival and throughout our stay. In fact, we were encouraged to pick apples from their trees, and when we left, Ina told us to choose a pumpkin to take home from their pumpkin farm! They were beautiful and BIG, but unfortunately, we had no room in the car! We actually stayed two nights, with two nights in between, and they could not have been more accommodating. The space was once a barn, and has been renovated into a quaint, comfortable living space that met our needs perfectly. Ina and Richard were delightful, we enjoyed our stay immensely. My elderly mother who uses a walker was able to enjoy the space as well. There was a single step into the door, but there is a sturdy handrail that was very helpful.

Welcome to North Star House and the Connecticut River Scenic Byway. Located on 700 acres in Cornish and Claremont New Hampshire, North Star House is the result of our top-to-bottom restoration of this 1855 historic home. We’ve retained all of the historic features—slate roof, antique hardware, wavy glass windows, hand-carved millwork—while providing modern comforts, including a gourmet kitchen, two new full baths and a glass-fronted woodstove.
This is a beautifully restored 1850s New England farmhouse in a stunning setting on the Connecticut River just across from Vermont's Mount Ascutney. Easy access to winter and summer sports, culture, and historic sites is combined with quiet indoor spaces, beautiful views, a spacious kitchen, tasteful furnishings, and all the amenities (strong wifi, large tv, LP player) you could ask for to make your vacation relaxing and hassle-free.
  • Jenny + Bill were terrific hosts! This completely remodeled farm house is stunning and with great views of the river. I can’t wait to come back!

    Emily2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at Jenny and Bill's! The house was beautiful with a big yard alongside the Connecticut river. We came up to hike and see the fall foliage. It was close to a small town where we also were able to grab dinner. Bill and Jenny were easy to communicate with and even invited us to events in town. I would highly recommend renting this house through them and would welcome the opportunity to stay there in the future!

    Grace2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Jenny and Bills's house. It was very well maintained, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the open property and spending time by the river. I would recommend staying here.

    Lena2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • A group of old college friends and myself went up for a long weekend and I honestly don't think we could have picked a better place. The home itself is beautifully remodeled and super spacious. The fully stocked kitchen with the huge island is definitely the heart of the home. Jenny was quick to communicate with and very accommodating. The town itself is small and quaint, perfect for getting away from the city. Check-in was fast and easy. If you are reading reviews and debating booking don't hesitate.

  • We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful and secluded location in rural Vermont. It was easy to relax in the quiet, attractive and exceptionally clean accommodations. Peggy (Jim was away) was very hospitable and easy to work with. She took plenty of time answer our questions, orient us to the surrounding area and suggest local restaurants and other attractions. Our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer. Peggy and Jim's place has our highest recommendations.

    Alice2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Peggy were very nice and accommodating. Their property is stunningly beautiful and is definitely somewhere I look forward to staying again.

    Margaret2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We looked for a private space as the base for our trip to Vermont. However when we got into the apt which Jim and Peggy provided, we were sold and would like to stay only here instead of driving around. This place is clean and comfy as home. And the view is beautiful since it's closed to peak season of fall foliage. Highly recommend!

  • My stay with Jim and Peggy was great. It was conveniently located close to where I was working, and on a beautiful property. Having all the comforts of home, made my traveling work experience comfortable and rewarding. I would refer the place to anyone looking to stay in their area.

We're about 5 minutes from the Saint Gaudens National Historic Site as well, where you can see a full-scale Lincoln Memorial, great summer concerts, and some small hiking trails. More hiking is nearby at Mt Ascutney and plenty of nature preserves nearby. For skiing, we're closest to Whaleback Mountain (about 30 mins), and only 45 minutes to Mt Sunapee or an hour to Killington. And in the warmer months, the river in the backyard is available for kayaking and other rowing. Finally, we're only about 30 minutes from Dartmouth College in Hanover, just on the other side of White River Junction. This is the perfect place to start your vacation anytime in the year. Or, if you're like us, you might just love the house so much you stay in and watch the river flow by during sunset. Either way, we're happy to host you for a NH/VT escape!
  • We had a great time, gorgeous view and charming house. Great for large groups of people. The communication with the hosts was outstanding.

  • Wonderful & charming older home with beautiful views!! Everyone had a place they enjoyed in and around the house. Great hosts make it an awesome place to stay.

  • We had a great time at Andrew and Jonathan's house! We were a group of 10, six adults and four kids. The bedrooms were all good sizes and we're all very comfortable. The house is in a great location for taking in all that the area has to offer, but we had just as nice of a time hanging at the house. Kitchen is well appointed (even with a sharp knife!), and the bathrooms are all updated and very clean. Would definitely recommend it to groups and families.

    Stephanie2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. The view of the river is great, the house has a great look and vibe, and was very clean and ready for us. Couldn't have asked for anymore. Easily accommodated the 8 of us with room to spare. Would highly recommend this house.

    Daniel2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful old home, with much charm. The views are beautiful. My family came to relax and that's what we did. Kitchen had everything we needed. Gas grill was perfect for bbq and dinner on deck. We got to see the wild horses on the river our last day.. it was perfect

    Debbie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a quiet getaway along the river then this is the spot. The flow of the house was prefect, and the views are spectacularly. If it's a little country night life you seek it's two minutes away in Windsor Vermont. The best of both worlds.

    Jon2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the house. The river view is amazing and it was a great place to unwind and just relax.

    Seth2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home and fantastic location! Just what we needed for a family get-away. Very well-equipped with some really unique features, including an awesome shower room with amazing views of the river. Almost every room has great views. The deck is great for relaxing and bird-watching, and we saw a bald eagle catch his dinner from out of the river. We hiked to the top of Mt. Ascutney and could see the home clearly from the summit. We all had such a great time and hope to come back sometime soon.

Come through a covered bridge and cross over the river and through the woods. Welcome to Free Will Farm, a secluded 100 acre farm established in 1790. The Bunk House is fully appointed, cozy, private, and self catered. Wake to a rooster crowing, enjoy farm fresh eggs for breakfast and then relax in front of your fireplace or by the pool. We welcome all couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. Come enjoy the Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee region of Vermont & New Hampshire.
The Bunk House is a rustic, fully-appointed bungalow with a knotty pine interior. The kitchen is equipped with all the pots & pans and spices needed for cooking. Use the dishes and glassware to serve a fine meal, and enjoy a quick cleanup with the dishwasher. A washer and dryer are provided as well. The shared in-ground pool is huge and very clean, with a diving board as a bonus. The International Barn: Named in honor of the many international visitors that we have hosted, the Barn is available for additional overflow living space and is great for young or old guest relaxation. Check your bird list, browse the library, or recall the day's adventures in screened comfort. The kids might want to spend the night in the barn! No additional charge!
Newport, New Hampshire (chartered 1761) is situated in the 'Upper Valley of the Connecticut River watershed, a natural border for two northern New England states, Vermont & New Hampshire. Both provide numerous tourist & adventure attractions for visitors. Nearby (12mi) Lake Sunapee & Mt Sunapee State Park provide summer and winter recreation for all ages. Pillsbury State Park (18mi) is a hidden gem with great wildlife viewing and wonderful exploring via paddle or foot. Across the Connecticut River are other ski/hiking destinations, Mt. Ascutney and Okemo Mountain. The Augustus St. Gauden's National Park in nearby Cornish, NH is an easy drive and was the home to one of America's premier sculptors. Head up the motorway to the town of Hanover & Dartmouth College, home of The Hopkins Center for the Performing Arts. Also in nearby Vermont is Woodstock, with great shopping, dining and tourist attractions, as well as the Marsh Billings Farm Museum and National Park. Nearby Quechee is home to the Vermont Raptor Center and Simon Pierce Glass Blowing Factory. Other activities: birding, hiking, and skate boarding.
  • Very much enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in booking again. Lovely farm in great surroundings and with a great pool.

  • For two people looking to get away from the city for a bit, Freewill Farm was everything we were hoping for. The area is scenic and beautiful, but still close to restaurants and a ski resort if guests fancy a night out. We stayed in and enjoyed the fireplace and all the coziness the Bunk House had to offer. Having the opportunity to visit the animals was a huge bonus. Highly recommended for families or anyone wanting to get away!

    Julia2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • I can't imagine a more restful, peaceful stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Beautiful knotty pine throughout, a cozy gas stove warming the living room, a fully equipped kitchen, games, movies... the Bunk House was the perfect space for 2 couples escaping real life for the weekend. We brought all of the groceries we needed for our stay and planned to just stay in, eat well, laugh together and enjoy the peace and quiet of the farm. As a bonus, this was the peak foliage weekend of the year. This area is clearly very naturally beautiful all year round, but we truly enjoyed the added New England fall beauty. Paul and Cathy were friendly and welcoming, provided a great tour upon our arrival, and made us feel very comfortable. The bathroom is stocked with samples of their homemade lotions and shampoos - such a treat! We lacked nothing. The Free Will Farm is a gem in the woods that we were blessed to stumble upon. Thank you, Paul and Cathy, for the experience!

    Bessy2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • I really can't say enough good things about our visit. Cathryn and Paul could not have been more accommodating - farm-fresh eggs and fresh baked bread waiting for us when we arrived, suggestions regarding local attractions (Sanctuary Farm has great ice cream), and periodically checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. The Bunk House had everything we wanted and was completely comfortable. The flowers are breathtaking, and the pool was wonderful! The animals were great, and the dogs were so friendly. My 7-yr-old said, "I wish I could live here." My 5-yr-old with special needs was completely comfortable the whole time. We look forward to going back.

    Laura2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Bunk House was excellent - cozy, warm, and rustic. 25 minutes to Sunapee, easy 2 hour drive from Boston. We loved the farm fresh eggs and baked bread generously provided by Cathryn and Paul. Our group had to check in slightly late given work schedules, and our hosts were extremely accommodating. The beds were very comfy and we loved the gas fireplace. Hoping to return again next year!

    Jessica2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was wonderful if you love nature and animals this is the place for you. The hosts were wonderful and we found plenty to do in the area. We would recommend this place very highly!!

    Carol2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a very pleasant stay. We immediately felt like being part of the family. Cathy and Paul are lovely people. They really did everything that was possible to ensure we had the most pleasant stay. Not a day without good advice from Paul about the best places to visit in the area. Cathy welcomed us as if we were part of his own family with love and thoughtfulness. We look forward to returning as soon as possible in order to rediscover the area in all seasons. I highly recommend !!! The farm is beautiful. For city dwellers like us from NY ... we have spent a week in the quiet with a beautiful view of the sunset from the lounge. The animals were a delight for our daughter who was able to play with Max and Lily (dogs) and admiring hens, rooster, duck, turkey, donkeys, cows and sheep ... The pool is large and clean. She was very pleasant in the evening to relax after our tours of our days. A hot tube is also available to relax. For children Paul and Cathy have everything planned treehouse and dozens of pool toys and in case of rain.

A cozy cottage. Located on the beautiful Connecticut River, nestled between fertile farm land and Sketchawag Mountain with views abound. The cottage design utilizes a small foot print while offering functionality and basic comforts. Great for all seasons, close to Okemo and other worthy attractions. Hiking and snow shoeing options at your front door. Secrete fishing and swimming holes located on the property. Boat dock available upon request.
  • We loved staying here. It was the perfect little get away. The cottage has everything you need. Our host was very generous and kind told us about a few local spots! We will definitely be back!

  • modest lodging in an amazing setting. Beautiful farm land next to the Connecticut River. Nicholas is friendly and responsive. The area is gorgeous.

    Danny2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This unit is one of three set far back off the (lightly-traveled) road and right on the Connecticut River. Lovely and quiet. I was greeted by the host's Mom, who happened to be out front as I pulled up. A few moments later, Nick appeared, we chatted a bit, and I was all set. The cottage was compact and spotlessly clean. The AC was relatively quiet and more than powerful enough for the space. The furnishings, while simple, were more than adequate, consisting of a table for two, bed, and easy chair. The kitchenette was a Godsend, as I have numerous dietary restrictions that make it essential that I be able to prepare my own meals. The front of the unit consists of a nice sized screened porch with a wooden rocking chair, which, had I not been traveling solo, could have been brought inside to provide seating for a second person. I found the full/double mattress a bit soft, but for every 100 people there are 100 opinions about mattresses, so of course YMMV. After a quiet and comfortable night's sleep, I took my morning cup of coffee down to the dock and gazed out over the Connecticut River. Only real quibble is with the wifi, with which I was unable to maintain connection for any length of time. Again, YMMV depending on the device(s) you use. I was using a Samsung Galaxy S7 and Amazon Kindle Fire 2016 tablet, FWIW. I have family in the area and look forward to booking this unit again next time I'm in town. Thanks, Nick! 5 stars.

  • Nice old country farm house. Very quiet. Nice room on the second floor next to the bathroom. Night lights guide you through the house if you get in late. The dog is older, but very friendly. Sue is very friendly & kind. Will be looking forward to be going back soon. Linda

    Linda2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were touring the region between Lake Sunapee and the Connecticut River and Sue's place was the perfect place to rest. The history of the farm fit in nicely with what we learned at Saint-Gauden's National Historic Site 3 minutes down the road. It was very nice to chat with the Fitch family, who have owned the home for 10 generations! We had to sneak out early the next morning to catch the breakfast hours at the local gas station diner. After the most incredible corned beef hash we returned to Sue's to pick-up a few forgotten personal items. I can get rather flustered when I lose things but Sue's gentle assistance made me feel at ease. Overall, we loved our stay!

    Rachel2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sue is absolutely lovely and gave me a wonderful recommendation for a breakfast place that I absolutely loved! The room is simple but works well if you're just looking for a place to spend the night and it was clean. Would not stay there if you are scared of dogs.

    Judith2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • If I'd been on a vacation this would have been a great get-away. As I was here on business I felt very well cared for, especially when we got snowed in and I had to just sit the day out. Wonderful and warm people.

    Kerry2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place has a breathtaking view. Fresh air and quiet nature that surrounded this place makes it worth the long drive. Sue's and her family (Tucker the dog is included) are very welcoming. She will makes you feel like part of the family. The room is very clean. The bed is really comfy. In total, it was a memorable experience.

    Cornelia2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely spot to spend a night. Sue and Jim were very friendly. I wish I had the time to wander around the farm!

    Evan2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's is a thoughtful and responsive host who seems to truly enjoy getting to know her guests. The farm is full of rustic charm and the room comfortable and homey. I enjoyed looking over the fields and watching the sun set from the back deck.

  • I last minute needed a place to stay for a wedding and Pam was so prompt with her response. When I was welcomed to the cottage she has snacks and wine waiting for us. It felt like home!

    Karlin2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent a night at Pam's after a weekend tour of Vermont. Her accommodation was great! The room with kitchenette and attached bathroom she lets out is very spacious, well furnished and clean. Pam and her husband Tony were super friendly and hospitable. They stock the room with a few great freebies (e.g. tea, milk, orange juices and wine!) and had some great suggestions for places to eat in Windsor. If I ever need to stay around Windsor again, I'll definitely be checking to see if Pam's place is available.

    Rosa2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Pams place was exactly as described. We had a bit of miscommunication on how many people we had in our party (completely my fault) but she was very accommodating and the apartment was kept in fantastic shape! Very clean, and spacious! Would recommend to anyone!

    Nicholas2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Tony were great hosts during our stay! Very quick with responses, available whenever we had questions, and sweet enough to leave us a bottle of wine to celebrate our recent marriage. The space is an open studio and they've done a nice job fixing it up.

  • I came up to Vermont from NYC to participate in a Spartan Race. Unfortunately all the hotels were booked and the few that weren't didn't look too clean and were expensive. My last resort was Airbnb that's when I stumbled across "the barn". Although it was an hour away from my race, I do not regret a thing. It was way better than staying at a hotel. Pam and her husband were so welcoming and the place was super cozy. It had everything I need and I felt at home. Thank you for your hospitality. I totally recommend The Barn.

  • I can't recommend highly enough. Our stay was perfect, the environment was warm and inviting, the views are spectacular, and Liz is a caring, incredibly responsive host. It is apparent she loves the space and has put her heart into making sure it is welcoming for visitors, and also apparent she cares enormously for those who stay there. I am looking for excuses to return as soon as possible. Thank you, Liz, for everything.

  • Absolutely beautiful space. Took a great canoe trip which ended right at the house. Kitchen really nicely set up as well

    Louis2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Liz's place was wonderful. It was right on the water and there is easy access to i91 which makes traveling to all the local attractions simple. There is a helpful binder of local attractions and suggestions, which makes planning your days a breeze. Strong wifi and a huge TV make it easy to stay in the house if the weather or your own laziness prevents you from heading out. We loved our stay here, and this will be the first place we look if we are planning another trip to Vermont in the future.

My place is close to restaurants and dining and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the coziness and the location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).
My house is over 100 years old. It is a comfortable space with a lot of character. It definitely feels like Vermont living. My pets (2 dogs and 2 cats and an occasional foster or 2) are super friendly and they will definitely help to make you feel welcome!
I love the small town feel that has everything at your fingertips. I am in walking distance to some wonderful restaurants and shops as well as a drug store and grocery store.

  • Jaimie is a very friendly person and offered great advice on places to go. The bed was comfortable but it is definitely just a place to crash. Location was great, we were able to walk everywhere.

    Meaghan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Jaimie's house for 7 weeks while my girlfriend was completing a rotation at Dartmouth (an easy 20 minute commute). Jaimie was incredibly easy to live with and a caring host. We enjoyed spending time with her pets and getting to know the people in Jaimie's life. Jaimie's house was exceptionally pet-friendly, which can be difficult to find in the area (or on all of Airbnb for that matter!) It was the perfect landing spot for us and our two dogs. We would be happy to stay again!

    Kimberly2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jaimie is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area!!!

    Krissy and Aly2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jaimie is very responsive to messages. Whenever you have a problem, she'll help you solve it. She tries her best to make sure you feel comfortable. The bed is certainly comfortable! Good location: Pizza Chef, a diner, Price Chopper and Paradise Park are all within walking distance. Her pets are cute and friendly.

  • Jaimie is very good at replying back within an hour or so. She is very helpful and wants your stay to be as comfortable as possible. The bed is bedroom is very comfortable with lots of pillows and blankets. Off the street parking. Good location: Chinese, pizza, a diner, Price Chopper, shops, Cumberland Farms, and a park are all within walking distance. Her pets are cute, friendly, and happy to greet you at the door. I was in the area for business and needed a place to crash for a few nights. Jamie's spot was good and she is very helpful.

    jeffrey2017-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jaimie is an extremely genuine person; she did a fantastic job communicating details such as directions, warnings about no wifi, the number of animals in the household, and the desire to keep red meat out of the house. None of these things were an issue with me. The two areas that were slightly below my expectations involved the cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom. Jaimie mentioned that the door to the guest room would be shut to keep the animals out, but it was apparent that they had been in the room previously because both my guest and I dealt with mild allergies from the pet hair. Also, Jaimie had recently adopted a dog that she was working hard to feed frequently to get to a healthy weight. This is an extremely admirable thing to do, but there was no verbal warning about the amount of dog droppings that were in the house (one in the bathroom, one in the hallway, one downstairs). This inevitably leaves an undesirable odor. All in all, Jaimie is a great person. The house is great. I would like to believe that I happened to stay during a timeframe that was less than ideal for Jaimie.

  • Maria’s place is fabulous! I’d cerntainly come back for another stay and strongly recommend this place to everyone! The rooms are clean and cozy and fabulously maintained, the place is just beautiful and lovely! Maria is also super helpful with any question that you have regarding the rooms, I also loved that self service check in is offered here which made our schedule more flexible.

  • The room we had was perfect, it's on the side of a mountain over looking the Connecticut river, hard to find a prettier location!

  • This B&B is a must visit. Beautiful old home on the top of mountain with spectacular views. The gardens are incredible, the entire property is scenic and relaxing. Gayle and her husband are very friendly and both want to make sure your stay is excellent. Clean spacious rooms, plenty of parking, several common areas to enjoy in and outside. Excellent value. We'll be back!

  • We had a wonderful time at the Windsor Mansion inn. Gayle was so warm and welcoming and the accommodations were incredibly nice. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was clean and spacious as well. We especially enjoyed having beers near the fire pit with some of the other guests. We will definitely be coming back!

  • Can't say enough about our AIRBNB stay at WINDSOR HILL MANSION & The Bungalow" (our private entry room with kitchenette, bath, king size bed). This picturesque mansion has incredible views and wonderful, down to earth innkeepers. Gayle & John. Loved our cocktails on the patio overlooking the valley & mountains, moonlight fireside sitting and listening to Johns 3 piece band in the quaint bar (bar seats were super comfortable). Breakfast was absolutely delicious-fresh fruit cup, French pastries and scrumptious VT cheddar quiche with hash brown crust. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend this Inn and also Windsor Station (former train station) for dinner!

    Chris2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful location with a breathtaking view -- above and beyond expectation. Note to AirBnb-ers, breakfast is not usually included when booking through this site. The site is often used for weddings and has a full bar at night and gorgeous grounds with well-appointed fire-pit and beautiful rooms. Easy to find, up on a hill over looking a valley and a lake. We stayed in the Bungalow (the only room with a TV and small kitchenette) and it was perfect. The surrounding town is small but charming and Gayle made us reservations on arrival for the Windsor Station restaurant which we thought was delicious. Can't speak more highly about how nice everyone was, guests and hosts alike, and how pretty the grounds were. We had a great stay!

I live in an old Vermont farm house built in 1857. It has lots of charm and warmth with plenty of room. Nearby ski areas and hiking trails are plentiful, as well as lakes for swimming and boating. I have a large back yard with plenty of room for outdoor games or just relaxing in the fresh air. I have two dogs and one cat.
Rural area centrally located between the towns of Springfield, Ludlow, Ascutney and Reading Vermont. Just 8 miles from New Hampshire border where you can shop with no sales tax. Nearby ski areas include Okemo Mountain (10 mi.), Suicide Six (18 mi.), Killington Ski Area (20 mi.), and Bromley Mountain Ski Resort (24 mi.), to name a few.
  • Mrs Marjie is a wonderful host. She responds to messages quickly. She allowed our kid to stay with us, though our plan was sudden to book her private shared room, she added an extra bed for us from her courtesy. Her cat and dog are so adorable. My kid loved to play with them. She is such a wonderful person, she offered complimentary breakfast in the morning and played with our kid like a grandma. Will definitely promote and recommend to stay with her. Out side of the house premises might not look promising and pleasant to eye, but inside the house every thing is well decorated and neat and clean. Looks classic. All the good wishes to you mrs Marjie.

  • Really enjoyed staying here. Anne's place is comfortable, clean, and quiet. She cooks a fantastic breakfast every morning and even made fresh bread and caramel sauce for a snack one evening. Both Anne and Jeff were available for suggestions if needed. Great find - would stay here again if traveling to Vermont.

    Matthew2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was amazing. Waking up to the smell of her delicious breakfasts was such a special moment for me and all of my family. The house was perfectly decorated. The first night we arrived we exchanged and opened presents under her tree. Anne was so open and accommodating. I would definately stay there again and would recommend it to my friends.

  • Anne was such a great host! Myself and the other guests cannot say that enough! We were all so happy with our Airbnb experience that we hope that we have a chance to stay there again. The experience that we had at Anne’s place set the bar very high for future Airbnb experiences! Anne’s home is warm, welcoming, and quiet. This was exactly what we were looking for - an escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of the city of Boston. The photos and description of the home is very accurate. We had 6 guests total (3 couples), and there was room for additional guests. There were two full bathrooms which was very convenient for our party. There is plenty of room in the driveway for multiple vehicles. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all so quaint, clean, and very homey. We utilized her kitchen a couple of times throughout the weekend. The best part was the breakfast that she cooked for us each morning. She asked us what we liked and the time that we wanted breakfast to be ready. It was truly a grand experience! We got there late on Friday night. I provided Anne with an ETA and she was at the door waiting for us when we got there. We went skiing on both days (Saturday and Sunday). The location is great. We were a short 20 minute drive to Okemo Ski Resort. Our checkout time on Sunday was listed as noon, but because she was not expecting any guests to check in on Sunday, Anne offered to let us come back after the day of skiing to relax, pack our stuff, and leave when we were ready to venture home again. We were extremely satisfied with our stay at Anne’s home. We hope to come back again soon!

  • Anne was welcoming from beginning to end. She communicated promptly and answered all of my questions prior to booking! The house was just as charming in real life as in the pictures posted. The location was quiet peaceful and relaxing. We slept well on soft sheets and enjoyed fresh bath towels provided by our host! By far our favorite part was Annes cooking! She was beyond thoughtful and made a birthday cake for my best friend who we were celebrating that weekend- and the breakfast was phenomenal!!! Great time- would def recommend!

    Bailey2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This house is such a gem! We truly enjoyed our stay. Anne (our host) and her home are both warm and welcoming. Having breakfast made for us each morning was amazing and delicious! It was such a great convenience. We were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. We stayed the weekend of 2/3 - 2/5. We skied Okemo on Saturday and even though the mountain is about 20 minutes away, I highly recommend this rental! We'd definitely stay here again! Thank you Anne! We had a wonderful weekend!

  • Maybe the best Airbnb experience I've ever had. A great house in a secluded, scenic area, with gracious hosts and delicious breakfast included. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Coziest, most welcoming home you will ever stay at. From the massive fireplace to coffee/snacks to a breakfast that stays with you for days afterwards, Anne goes far beyond expectations to ensure you stay is comfortable and convenient. Thank you again Anne for an amazing and authentic B&B experience!

  • Awesome piece of property. We were greeted by two loving and friendly cats but only saw them 1 more time outside during our stay. The house was VERY clean, cozy, and comfortable! Anne made us a huge delicious breakfast and gave us great advice about what farms to visit while there. I would highly recommend this place and hope to return!

This is a big beautiful house with a giant backyard and epic views of Mt. Ascutney. Come and enjoy our home, share the peace and beauty of Vermont. This location is central to skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and horse events.
Our house has two large bedrooms available as single private rooms that are priced separately (Two king sized beds). The second bedroom may be reserved through Fire Ridge Farm II. Great for people traveling together. FYI we are a solar powerhouse! 45 solar panels on our barn contribute to the electricity needs of our neighbors.
You will be amazed and delighted at the sheer majesty of the surroundings. Our view of Mt. Ascutney is magnificent. The house is private and quiet, with all of the convenience of high speed internet. Soak in the hot tub and watch the Milky Way, satellites and shooting stars in our clear night sky. Listen to the owls at night and the songbirds during the day. Pretty much the perfect Vermont experience.
  • Susan's place is fantastic!! The views, the bed, the hot tub! I can't say enough about this beautiful spot. That bed was one of the best I've ever slept in. Susan and her family are so warm and generous and gracious and made us feel like family. This is the spot!

  • It is as gorgeous as it looks! Great bed and view and I especially loved how quiet it was. I was working long days so to come back to such a peaceful place was wonderful.

  • Susan and Ralph are friendly and gracious hosts. They opened their house to us, including the hot tub with its magnificent view of sky and mountain. Susan prepared a delicious and healthy breakfast and made us feel like old friends. A most enjoyable but too short visit.

  • Susan and Ralph were incredible hosts. From the moment I booked this trip, Susan was very helpful and responsive for all my questions and welcomed us with snacks and drinks upon arrival. Throughout the trip, they provided delicious healthy and home cooked breakfasts and snacks for our days on the slopes. The house was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. The hot tub was an added bonus and the entire stay was incredible! Highly recommend if you're looking for friendly hosts and a comfortable and relaxing stay in a remote setting. Typical to all VT, there are great restaurants and shops about 20-30 min. away.

    Caitlin2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Marsden and I had a delightful stay at Susan's! The room was very comfortable. We had the floor to ourselves. Susan, Ralph, and Susan's daughter, Natalie, were wonderfully attentive and offered excellent suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. Our only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time there. We will Definitely stay with them on a return trip!

  • Susan is a lovely host and made us feel at home. I would highly recommend her place for other travelers.

  • Susan and her family are awesome hosts. They opened their home to us and the hospitality was top notch. We were there to run the Vermont 100. Susan was up with us at 2am as we prepped to head to the start line. She was there when we finished to offer congratulations and some ideas about recover. The hot tub was just the right treatment for sore and aching muscles. The views are amazing. We loved Nala the puppy. Good luck to Andrew!

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room and facilities were very clean and comfy. The view of Mt. Ascutney is spectacular. Susan and Ralph are great hosts. We especially enjoyed the fire pit in the evening for spectacular star gazing. I would recommend staying here.

The Neighborhood is very safe and friendly. There is easy walking access to downtown coffee shop, eateries, gift shops, drugstore, liquor store etc. The nearby Paradise Park is a great place to take an afternoon hike.
  • Heidi made me feel very welcome. The room was very pleasant, and she made every effort to make me feel at home. It was relaxing to have a place to decompress at the end of the day. A nice experience.

  • We were only in Windsor for a brief visit but enjoyed every bit of our stay at Heidi's house. She has an incredible spirit and welcomed our family of 3 with open arms. The bed is super comfy. Would definitely recommend!

  • Room was large and bed very comfortable. Enjoyed having coffee available right in the room in the morning and small fridge as well. Bathroom right around the corner. Great location, not far from the interstate, and right in town. Heidi was a great hostess, very accommodating for an early check-in, and quick to respond to inquiries; highly recommended.

    Jane2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was welcoming and the room spacious. The location is an easy walk to downtown eateries and the Amtrak station. The air conditioner was a bit noisy, but it cooled off the room on a very hot and muggy day, which was a big help. Nights are often cool in Vermont so I could then turn off the AC and sleep with the windows open, just as I do at home.

    Caro2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was great, and her home was very warm and inviting. She did a great job of welcoming us and describing all the nearby stores and restaurants for us to experience. We plan to stay with her again.

  • We had a spacious room with a nice, clean bathroom just around the corner. We could make our own coffee and enjoy the start of another day! Heidi made sure we were comfortable!

  • Heidi's house was a dream stay for two tired moms that just finished their Spartan race in Killington. Heidi welcomed us with open arms. She was easy to communicate with and was very helpful in getting us settled in when arrived late in the night. My friends knees were very sore from our run and Heidi was there with ice packs at the ready. The room was relaxing and comfortable. I only regret that we couldn't stay longer to enjoy the town and amenities even more. We will be booking with Heidi again in the future. We both appreciate her and wish her the best!

Come and stay in this historic, beautifully restored one room schoolhouse on 5 acres. "Lil Red", our 2 bedroom, 2 bath home has been meticulously renovated and is cozy for 4. Fall is in full swing. Come experience the beauty and history that is Windsor.
Built in 1849, this structure was formally the 6th district schoolhouse of Windsor. You will see carvings in the brick where school children put their initials. The wainscoting from the original space was restored and made into the beautiful bedroom doors. Most of the wood used was reclaimed from the house. Master bedroom upstairs is spacious with en suite bathroom. Guest bedroom is on the first floor also with ensuite bathroom. Guests will have access to our gourmet kitchen and appliances. There are pantry items to use also. The house and property are yours to enjoy. Parking for 2 cars, space for ski equipment, propane woodstove, Wi-fi, Netflix, chromecast. The house is located very close to the street however it gets very little traffic. There are no houses in direct view. The back of the property is very private with 5 acres of our property as well as state property that ajoins ours. 20 Minutes to Lebanon Municipal airport with service to NYC and Boston. 25 Minutes to Dartmouth College and Medical Center. 15 Minutes to Woodstock for quaint shopping and eating options. Cross country skiing, Hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, bird watching can all be done on the property. Cross country sking trails and fields are on the property. We are within 40 min to the Skyeship and Bear Mtn lifts at Killington, Okemo and Magic Mountain Ski areas less then an hour. Ski a different one each day rather then repeating the same one. Visit our beautiful downtown and drink some craft beer at Harpoon.
"Lil Red" is located in the beautiful Upper Connecticut River Valley of Vermont. On the New Hampshire border divided by the longest covered bridge in the United States. The house is located on County Road very close to the street however it gets very little traffic. There are no houses in direct view. It is very quiet and peaceful. You may hear the roosters crow in the morning! The back of the property is very private with 5 acres of our property as well as state property that ajoins ours. Enjoy the unbelievable night sky and amazing stars, you will be blown away!
  • My family came to the Upper Valley this Thanksgiving for the first time. We didn't have enough room for them to stay with us, so we looked for a cozy home for them to stay in. The Lit Red schoolhouse is a perfect combination of old New England charm with modern renovations that make the home functional and fun to be in. My hard-to-please New Yorker family gave their stay 5/5 stars and will definitely be back to visit.

    Jennifer2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • While the lovely listing was absolutuely representational of this amazing home and setting, pictures can not describe the "feel" of this beautifully rennovated home. I was OVER THE MOON from the moment I set foot in the School House, as you may infer from the correspondence I shared with Marylynn at the start of our stay... Hi Marylynn, I just wanted to let you know that I am still in awe of the amazing setting we've discovered. Your home is absolutely beautiful and so, so charming. It's a delight to *just be* in the wonderful school house. I'm fascinated and so impressed with the craftsmanship and incredible attention to detail with your renovations. One of my favorite features, the windows and window sills! Don't know if I've mentioned that my folks re-assembled a Swedish log cabin on an island in Maine. So much of the work you've done reminds me of the cabin. On another note, I have been in the field of education for several years and am currently serving as ED for Peninsula School for Autism. My husband is graduating from Norwich University on Friday and we have 20 month old who is soaking up the world right now. Our morning was spent reading Eric Carle books and well, sweeping and vacuuming. All Warren's favorite activities. Needless to say, the accommodations are meaningful on many levels and we've already formed many fond memories of our time at 2305 County Road. Thank you so much for sharing your home! Best, Sydney

    sydney2015-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful cabin and a stellar host! Marylynn was INCREDIBLY helpful before we arrived, giving us recommendations on places to ski, rent winter gear, and relax. She even heard about a local jazz event and texted me as soon as she found out. We took her up on her advice and had a wonderful, wonderful weekend. We did have a minor glitch with the whole arrival/key situation (it didn't help that we had exceptionally spotty cell service! Pro tip: Verizon users will have better luck than AT&T), but like other guests have mentioned, Marylynn was incredibly responsive and we were able to get in safely. Other than that we didn't have a ton of kitchen gear to work with, but we did pick up some cleaning supplies and left them for the next visitor to use. The cabin was exactly as the photos and description conveyed and we could not have been happier with this rental! Many thanks to Marylynn and the man who shoveled the walk for us!

    Samantha2015-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Lil' Red! Marylynn was incredibly helpful and responsive, which gave us a great start to the experience even before arriving. However, nothing could match the space itself, which has been renovated and decorated with so much thoughtful attention to detail. Some of the best parts were the ways in which the hosts repurposed several of the school house's original details and architectural elements, like the window in the bathroom upstairs. It was a warm and very comfortable place. The house was clean and had all the amenities we could hope for and more. We enjoyed building a fire every night in one of the two fire pits outside, falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook, and waking up to the serene setting that surrounds the house and property. The house was in very close proximity to the small town of Windsor, which includes a super market just a short drive away. All in all we just loved staying at the school house and we would be privileged to return to this little treasure of a rural hideaway.

    Helen2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Due to winter storm, our flight from Denver was rebooked twice which gave us a 4 day delay. We were unable to stay at the schoolhouse because it was already booked for the change of dates we needed. Marilyn was very nice and called us to help us get part of money refunded. We would definitely work with her again.

    Ann2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I recently visited Lil' Red for a ski trip, and couldn't have enjoyed the experience more. The house was thoughtfully decorated and meticulously cared for, and offered all the character (and more) we wanted for our trip. We also enjoyed exploring the brook behind the home, which felt quintessential New England. Can't recommend this place enough.

    Nick2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Lil’ Red Schoolhouse is a perfect place for a visit to Vermont! We’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic place to stay.

  • Highly recommend staying at the Little Red Schoolhouse! It is a beautiful home in a gorgeous location...luxury and coziness. Everything was very clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, communication was top-notch, and it was such a treat to stay here. We had our 2 kids with us -- 1 and 4 -- and I wouldn't say it was ideal for little kids, but it was certainly doable. My favorite part was waking up and looking out the windows on the snow covered trees. Hope to come back soon!

  • Spend more than a night here if you can! It's a gem with the perfect amount of remoteness and connectedness to make it a truly enjoyable stay. Thank you Deborah for your prompt communications and hospitality! We will definitely be back when in the area again.

  • Beautiful cottage. The host is amazing, and helpful. We arrived late at night. The host gave us plenty of dinner recommendations prior to getting there. Once there, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I did not have to run to the store for my morning coffee. Could not have asked for anything better.

Breakfast is included.
  • Great location, walkable to the downtown (3-5 minutes). Beautiful exterior and interesting history. When we arrived there were cookies and tea/coffee available. Our room was perfect. It was large but felt immediately comfortable. The queen bed for our beds and kept us warm. The bathroom has heated floors and a shower. We loved the soaps and bathrobes. Breakfast was healthy and local and delicious.

  • This was a great bed and breakfast. The staff was very helpful and even offered to make a dinner reservation for me the night I arrived. The room was very well kept and the area was very relaxing.

  • The inn is a fabulous 200 yr. old house, beautifully maintained. My room (I stayed one night when visiting a relative) was the nanny's room during the residency of Maxwell Perkins, and it was incredibly spacious. The bathroom had finishings authentic to the Perkins era and was in superb condition. Pekka, the host, was very helpful and made dinner reservations, luckily for me.

  • One of the highlights of our summer was visiting this wonderful inn! They welcomed us with a nice tour of the property & an explanation of things to do in town. The room was very nice, clean, & full of amenities for a nice bath bath in the claw foot tub . And the morning was so special with a make your own waffle station, fresh fruit, and everything maple . We highly recommend this place, and visiting the local places: the hiking trails, Harpoon, Silo distillery, and going for a maple creamee! You won't regret it!

  • Neither words nor a listing description can express the exceptional location, value, service, and experience the Snapdragon Inn provides. From the innkeeper, Nadia, who made us MORE than welcome (she even made us cookies and a fire our first night), to the loaded amenities (the continental breakfast was phenomenal, the hot stone massage was perfection, the bed linens were high end and extremely comfortable) and custom features (heated bathroom floors were incredible, chocolates on the bed as a nice welcome).... there is no detail that was left unaddressed. I have traveled many places in my life, and I have never received such attentive service and a truly memorable experience. My mom and I swear we will return for another girls' weekend, soon (and request Room 6!)

Your private woodlands retreat awaits. Nestled atop a beautiful 10 acre meadow with 25 acres of woods for you to enjoy; this rustic cabin is a perfect romantic hideaway. Two trout ponds are steps from your door for fishing and swimming. Just a few minutes from Mt. Ascutney's hiking and mountain-biking trails and in the middle of fantastic cycling country. Sunset Cabin is a marvelous spot for enjoying fall foliage and exploring Vermont's quaint towns and covered bridges.
This is a magical place. The cabin is comfortable, rustic, and private, with brand new furniture, bedding, and linen. But what's special about it is it's extremely romantic setting overlooking meadows, ponds, gardens, mountains, and woods.

  • Daniel and Sondra went above and beyond with every aspect of our AirBnb experience. I rarely leave reviews but I just wanted to express how much I enjoyed the trip. Everything that we needed was provided for us. It was so peaceful and located on the most beautiful piece of property. Absolutely adorable. I definitely plan on returning. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall and how cozy in the winter. Even their neighbor was extremely friendly and helpful in telling us about what was around the area. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Hartland Diner and had some beers at Harpoon Brewery. If you're looking for a quiet get away I would ABSOLUTELY recommend staying here.

  • Our stay at Daniel and Sondra's cabin couldn't have been more perfect! The cabin itself is clean and well kept, with plenty of hot water for showers, extra blankets for when it's chilly, towels, toiletries, cutlery and even a mini fridge for our food. We really enjoyed drinking our complimentary coffee on the front porch and watching our puppy, Murphy, sprint across the spacious lawn. The ponds, filled with life, are also a nice feature of the vast property. Although the thunderstorms we had the nights we stayed were a very serene experience, I imagine lighting the fire pit and stargazing would be incredible also! We highly recommend this cabin, particularly if you're looking for a quiet, romantic retreat. Thanks again Daniel and Sondra!

  • Daniel and Sondra's cabin is definitely a little slice of Vermont heaven!!! Location wise, it's a dream - close enough to restaurants (and the harpoon brewery!) and bigger towns, but far away enough to feel like you're adequately disconnected / wrapped up in nature. While the cabin is on their property, its far away enough from the main house to feel private - and the trails that exist on their property are perfect for a quiet and beautiful morning walk :) The cabin itself is extremely clean, comfortable and cozy - we had everything we needed for a relaxed stay and can't wait to return!!

  • An amazing deal for the quality! Serene, private and comfortable. A great getaway for couples who are looking for time alone with no distractions! We really enjoyed the property and surrounding nature!

  • We had an excellent stay at Daniel and Sondra's place. They were friendly and accommodating hosts, and the cabin was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed (and more). We especially enjoyed walking around the scenic property and sitting by the firepit at night. Would definitely recommend!

    Penny2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the cabin. We're not sure if our dog enjoyed the premises more than we did. The nearby eateries were fantastic. Harpoon Brewery for a refreshment after hiking Mt. Ascutney, Skunk Hallow for dinner and Hartland Diner for brunch. Great place for a quiet weekend getaway.

    Tor2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful property! We appreciated getting away for the weekend to a quiet, pet-friendly cabin. We wanted to unplug for a few days and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit, playing with our dog, and drinking coffee on the porch. There is no wifi, so we looked up some restaurants in advance. Dan and Sondra have a great binder full of helpful info and local recommendations too. There was a fluke plumbing issue while we were there that the hosts resolved quickly (same day) and were very attentive to making sure we had a great stay.
